WHEN TO CHARTER IN ZADAR

The charter season in Zadar begins in April and lasts until November. The sailing conditions are exquisite, and the weather is excellent all year round. We recommend booking your yacht charter in Zadar at the end of June and first 2 weeks of July, so you can enjoy ideal weather conditions.

The most popular time for a yacht charter in Zadar region is during the summer months i.e. between June and September. Summer in this region means that you will be blessed with 13 hours of sunshine per day and temperatures between 25 and 30 C ° (77-86 Fahrenheit).

The Mediterranean climate promises a dry and warm summer with winds of no more than 10-20 knots. The peak season for sailors is July and August, with an insanely high number of sunny days and a great number of yachts on the water, while June, September, and October offer equally satisfying sailing conditions but fewer crowds.

For a truly tranquil yacht charter in Zadar, April, May, and November are ideal for exploring the 300+ islands, islets, and reefs. Thanks to the low boat traffic, the underwater world is at its peak during these months. You will have the opportunity to explore the region in all its glory, without the summer crowds. Imagine waking up on your yacht in a peaceful, pristine bay and seeing curious dolphins jumping around your boat.

The winds are particularly reliable during the yachting season when local yacht lovers claim they can set their watch by relying on their frequency. The mistral wind blows during the day, peaking between 9 am and 12 pm, then taking a break for a couple of hours before returning at 3 pm (“after lunch”) for a few more hours until dusk, when the winds die down to a light breeze.

Yacht Charter in Zadar air temperature graph

Zadar has mild winters and warm summers, but the temperatures are never too extreme. In the yacht charter season from May to September, conditions are practically perfect – the temperature is somewhere between 20 and 25 C °   (68-77 Fahrenheit) which means swimsuits, light clothes and bare feet are the order of the day.

The Adriatic is very well protected and enclosed, so temperatures never drop below 15 degrees, and the sea is swimmable all year round. By the end of May, swimming in the sea becomes pleasant and refreshing at around 20 degrees, and by the end of August, at 25 degrees, it feels like you are swimming in a pool.

Pašman is connected to Ugljan island via the bridge, so you can take a bike ride along Ugljan and Pašman or hop on your Vespa and enjoy breathtaking views while you ride. Because of its unique character, this place overwhelms your soul and enters the pores of your innermost being.

We suggest dropping anchor in Kobiljak cove, a secluded bay adorned with exceptional beauty. This bay is exposed to the scirocco wind, and it has a 4-10 m deep sandy bottom. Another lovely cove, where you can enjoy the surreal beauty of Pašman island is St. Ante Bay.

This bay is located on the SW coast of the island, and it is one of the favourite anchorages for yachts on Pašman island. This bay was named after the nearby church of St. Ante, which you can visit with your tender. The SuperYacht Croatia Team will gladly procure a Vespa, a motorcycle, an e-bike, a quad or a scooter, so you can enjoy exploring 2 islands of remarkable beauty.

Nearby, in the Pašman Channel, you will find the heart-shaped island of Galešnjak – a world-famous “Island of love”. It is so popular that even the world-famous singer Beyonce celebrated her 39th birthday here . The island has an area of 0.132 square meters, and although it is small in size, it has a grand effect on people. Even Forbes recognized that! Galesnjak was on the Forbes list of the most romantic Valentine’s destinations.

Day 3: Kornati Islands

This labyrinth of remarkable beauty, according to the legend, was created from the rocks that God had left after creating the world. He tossed them into the sea and decided the Kornati were so perfect that nothing else needed to be changed.

On your cruising adventures around the stunning Kornati islands , notice the incredible landscape of the Kornati crowns (cliffs) which were shaped by the sea. These magnificent cliffs will make your cruise worthwhile and impress you over and over.

No matter if you are a beginner or an experienced scuba diver, you can enjoy snorkeling around Kornati or diving with your private diving instructor to explore the Kornati underwater crowns, which are full of colourful marine life. We suggest the spots around Piškera and Rašip islands.

Day 7: Olib – Pag – Velebit – Zadar

On your last day of yacht charter in the Zadar area, you can observe the majestic landscape or Croatia`s biggest mountain chain, by cruising through the Velebit Channel and enjoying the view of the islands and the Velebit mountain range. Be sure to visit the island of Pag, which is full of culinary surprises.

Yacht Charter in Zadar Pag Island

Try Paški cheese and Paška lamb and enjoy the magnificent views of the bare and unreal surface of Pag. This unique island got its nickname “the Moon Island” because its bare landscape reminds people of the surface of the moon, especially in the evening when the moon shines over the calm sea with a silvery haze.

The truth is, Pag is bare due to strong Bura winds from the north, although its moonlike appearance made Pag a perfect filming location for multiple TV shows like ‘The Terror’ , ‘Winnetou’, ‘Top Gear’ and many commercials for famous brands like Bugatti, Rimac and Audi.

Apart from UNESCO heritage treasures like Paška lace , Pag conceals another gem – the impressive Zrće beach , also known as the “Croatian Ibiza”, where you can moor your yacht at Club Noa and enjoy the beats from your yacht deck.

Zrće beach is one of the best spots for electronic music in Europe and every year it hosts numerous big names from the electronic scene (Guetta, Tiesto, Garrix, Carl Cox, Hardwell, Van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike..) with world-known celebrities.

TOP ANCHORAGES AND MARINAS FOR YOUR YACHT CHARTER IN ZADAR

You will find two top-class marinas for your yacht charter in Zadar – Marina Zadar Tankerkomerc and Marina Borik. The Zadar region has the largest concentration of marinas in Croatia, with several marinas on the central Dalmatian coast between Zadar and Šibenik.

Zadar Yacht Charter

In Croatia , luxury yacht charter groups intent on extensively cruising the coastline by motor yacht or sailing yacht always make sure to include Zadar as a destination, not only for its top quality marina facilities but for the incredible Venetian and Roman influences that mark its history, interspersed with an array of modern attractions.

A luxury yacht charter is the best way to pack in as much of Croatia within a week as possible: Unhindered by ferry times and the state of the roads, you are free to choose between cosmopolitan living and far-flung sandy islands that feature some of the most amazing caves and coastal features the Mediterranean has to offer. Zadar is an exemplary model of this, where the Old Town and Archaeological Museum provide thorough insight into life in Zadar in the past, and nearby island 'Dugi Otok' is a treasure trove of Scuba diving sites and pristine beaches with countless secluded anchorages.

Considered as Croatia’s cultural capital, holidaymakers and superyachts that wish to savour the full splendour and charm of the Eastern Adriatic Sea should include a day or two around Zadar in their Croatia yacht charter itineraries. For a full list of available Croatia luxury yachts cruising the seas around Zadar, contact CharterWorld.

5 quick reasons to visit Zadar

Unique historic attractions, Vibrant modern culture, Delicious Italian and Croatian cuisine, Myriad dive sites, Easily accessible tranquil island getaways

More about this part of the Adriatic Sea

Plenty of superyachts and luxury travellers visit Zadar, especially during the summer months. This makes Zadar the unofficial converging point of yacht charter sailors and holidaymakers. Majority of tourists that come to Zadar are from Germany and the UK, and because of this, German and English are considered as the unofficial languages in Zadar.

The city lies on an important maritime route, making it a favourite jump-off point for tourists who want to spend their Croatian holiday on board a luxury motor yacht or sailing yacht of their choice.

Zadar is the perfect starting point for any yacht charter holiday in Croatia as you can conveniently set sail and reach other important tourist destinations in the region, including the cities of Rijeka and Dubrovnik. On top of this, Zadar is also an ideal jump-off point if you want to access Italy’s Ancona city, which lies on the opposite end of the Adriatic, and Venice to the north is another iconic city that many choose to include in the group's luxury yacht itinerary.

Moreover, with Italy on the western side of the Adriatic Sea, gelaterias, rich chocolates and some of its best and most iconic savoury dishes have integrated into modern Croatian culture, which has long had influences from Rome.

Zadar Yacht Charter Experiences

Zadar and the northern Istria coastal region provides a great sample of everything that is worthwhile and stunning about Croatia. A holiday in this popular yacht charter destination alone will almost be a complete experience of the best of authentic Croatia: A leisurely walk along the narrow Zadar streets is already an experience to remember, as you can already get a clear glimpse at the rich culture and history of Croatia. In Old Zadar there are Roman and Venetian landmarks teeming with opulence and grandiosity.

Notable landmarks and places with historical and cultural importance include the cathedral of St. Anastasia, the Roman Forum, the Archaeological Museum, Riva’s famed Sea Organ where music is made by the sea (be sure to pass by during the day and the evening), and the University.

A stroll through the city waterfront will also reveal numerous boutiques and market stall vendors selling authentic local crafts like woven textiles, handcrafted laces and traditional sleepers made from sheepskin. A more contemporary souvenir can be found in the galleries and jewellers before you head to the nearby islands for peace, quiet and the alluring beaches and coves just a short cruise away from the city. Dugi Otok stands out for its beautiful coastal caves, clear snorkel and Scuba diving sites and picture perfect villages set within a rugged pastoral landscape.

If you choose to venture farther inland, the Nacionalni Park Plitvička Jezera features numerous stunning waterfalls that have UNESCO World Heritage status.

Things to Consider:

Yachting seasons & climate:.

Zadar has hot summer with little to no rain and mild winters that are the most likely time of the year for rainfall, but still have enough dry days and indoor amusements to attract yacht charter groups. The sea temperatures are a warm 25°C/77°F during July and August where there is also the most daylight summer hours.

The shoulder seasons of spring and autumn are also excellent for cruising as well as visiting the local villages and other land-based attractions, and at 17°C/63°F, guests can comfortably relax outdoors in the sunshine on the sundeck.

Clothing to Pack For Your Charter:

Away from the beaches visitors and locals typically opt for smart-casual attire, and visits to religious sites should cover thighs and shoulders - tank tops, short shorts and flip flops are generally not acceptable.

Air conditioned buildings can feel chilly after the hot summer outdoors and visitors might want to carry a long lightweight layer for this purpose, and to keep off the coastal winds after sundown.

Main Ports and Marinas:

Zadar Marina, Borik Marina, Dalmacija Marina, Kornati Marina

Famous Restaurants & Clubs

Kaštel Restaurant, Foša Restaurant

A Must See Attraction:

Museum of Illusions, Church of St. Donatus, Roman Forum, Archaeological Museum Zadar, Dugi Otok, Nacionalni Park Plitvička Jezera

Best beaches to visit in your yacht:

Prasna Beach, Dugi Beach, Brbinjšćica Bay

Local Yacht Events:

Easter Regatta, Kornati Cup, Croatia Coast Cup, Adriatic Regatta

Best time to go:

Summer is the Mediterranean yacht charter season and it peaks around July and August, however as Croatia has warm temperatures from May until October, the shoulder seasons are just as viable for those looking to avoid the crowds.

However, July and August have the most sunshine hours and warm sea temperatures hovering around 24°C/75°F, making it ideal for groups with young children and those who have an aversion to cold. If you ever want a moment to yourself, simply sail off to the islands and relax on a fine sand beach.

Get to know the symbols of Zadar

No visit to Zadar would be complete without paying homage to its most iconic landmarks, each steeped in history and allure. Every corner of the city holds a treasure waiting to be discovered.

Saint Donatus' Church and Roman Forum : Standing proudly as a symbol of Zadar's rich history, Saint Donatus' Church offers a captivating journey back in time. Dating back to the 9th century, this architectural marvel is the largest pre-Romanesque structure in Croatia, a testament to the city's enduring spirit. Many of its intricate ornaments are remnants of the Roman Forum, a sprawling complex commissioned by the legendary Emperor Augustus. As you wander through the forum's ancient ruins, you'll be transported to a distant era, where temples and colonnades once stood tall.

Saint Donatus' Church and Roman Forum

The Sea Organ : Embrace the symphony of the sea as you visit Zadar's renowned Sea Organ. Designed by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić, this one-of-a-kind installation harnesses the rolling power of sea waves to create hauntingly beautiful melodies. Situated on the western end of Zadar's Riva promenade, the Sea Organ offers a mesmerizing sensory experience that's not to be missed.

Greeting to the Sun : Another masterpiece by Nikola Bašić, the Greeting to the Sun installation symbolizes the connection between man and nature. Comprising 300 multi-layered glass plates, this stirring monument absorbs solar energy during the day, culminating in a spectacular light show at sunset. Join locals and travelers alike as they gather to witness this breathtaking spectacle and pay homage to the beauty that surrounds you.

Zadar’s tangerine sunset : Mister Alfred Hitchcock, one of the greatest film directors of all time, once said: “ Zadar has the most beautiful sunset in the world, more beautiful than the one in Key West in Florida, applauded at every evening .” Those were his very words during his stay in May 1964. Who are we to argue with the master of cinema?

Five Wells Square : This Renaissance Square was built in 1574. during the siege of the Ottoman Empire army when the defensive ditch, previously excavated in the Middle Ages, was covered. In its place, a large cistern for drinking water was created with five decorated wreaths or wells. Parts of the aqueduct that brought water directly from Lake Vrana were also preserved. This square stands as a symbol of the city's resilience and commitment to providing clean water to its inhabitants. Today, it remains a cherished spot where visitors can explore Zadar's rich heritage.

The Cathedral of St. Stošija (St. Anastasia) : This masterpiece of the Romanesque period, stands as the largest church in Dalmatia. Its bell tower, constructed in the 15th and 19th centuries in the neo-Romanesque style, stands as a dominant and unmissable landmark of the city of Zadar. Atop the tower sits a statue of an angel on a rotating platform, serving as a weathervane to indicate wind direction. Visitors can ascend the tower for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and its surrounding islands.

Zadar's city walls : Once part of the Republic of Venice's extensive defense system, Zadar's city walls are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among its notable features are the impressive land gates, serving as the main historical entrance to the city, built in 1543 by the renowned Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli. They are considered one of the most beautiful Renaissance monuments in all of Dalmatia, notable for their triumphal arch, central passage, and two smaller side arches for pedestrians.

Why choose zadar.

Zadar , a Croatian coastal treasure located along the Adriatic Sea, is a city where tradition and modernity coexist together. Zadar enchants tourists from the moment they set foot within its gates with its rich tapestry of historic buildings, picturesque surroundings, and dynamic cultural scene.

Zadar is Croatia’s oldest continuously inhabited city. It is located on the Adriatic Sea , in the northwestern area of Ravni Kotari . Zadar is the administrative centre of Zadar Region and the northern Dalmatian area.

Today, Zadar is also the historical centre of Dalmatia. It is the main political, cultural, economic, industrial, educational, and transit core for the Zadar Region. Because of its rich tradition, Zadar is now one of Croatia’s most popular tourist attractions and has been called “the “entertainment centre of the Adriatic” by The Times and “Croatia’s new capital of cool” by The Guardian.

Its historic Old Town vibrates with Roman , Byzantine , and mediaeval impacts, and it is home to treasures like the Church of St. Donatus and the Sea Organ . This contemporary masterwork turns sea waves into compelling sounds.

Besides history, Zadar also appreciates nature. It is shown by the untouched beauty of the Kornati Islands and the magnificent cliffs of the Telascica Nature Park . The city buzzes with cultural activities, from jazz festivals to outdoor theatre, and its nightlife is exciting. Zadar’s attractiveness stems from its ability to blend old-world elegance with modern charm, making it a compelling destination for every traveller.

The Zadar archipelago’s islands and unspoiled nature draw many boaters here.

What is the best time to visit Zadar?

The weather in Zadar is a combination of Mediterranean and humid subtropical weather. Zadar’s summers are hot and humid. The hottest months are July and August when highs typically range from 84 to 86 °F (29 to 30 °C).

There will not be any major issues for anyone sailing in the Adriatic Sea due to the generally calm tides. The tide range, however, is only 30 to 60 cm. Because of this, sailing in the Zadar sailing zone is not challenging. For both seasoned sailors and newcomers to sailing, the seas in this area are perfect.

Renting a boat with or without a skipper?

At Click&Boat, you have the option to rent a boat with or without a skipper in Zadar , Croatia . Even if you have a valid sailing licence, we always recommend opting for a skippered vessel to enhance your experience on the water. Skippers are nautical professionals that will dock, anchor and sail the vessel for you so that you don’t have to worry about anything but enjoying your holiday to the fullest extent. If you have a sailing licence and want to take on the challenge of navigating the boat, do not worry!

A skipper can simply serve as an extra set of hands in an emergency. But perhaps the best part about having a skipper present is that they are locals of the area and can take you to see everything on your sailing itinerary and more. They will show you all the most sought-after sights and some hidden gems you might not have known about otherwise. For an all-inclusive and personalised yacht charter, rent a boat in Zadar with a skipper!

If you have sailing experience and prefer a bareboat charter for your sailing adventure, you can rent a boat without a skipper in Zadar . However, you must provide the necessary certifications  demonstrate proficiency in handling the chosen vessel. Keep in mind that sailing in unfamiliar waters can be challenging, so thorough preparation and navigational skills are a must.

What season is the best to charter a boat in Zadar?

The best time for a yacht charter in Zadar is between June and September because of the low rainfall and hot summer sun. The average sea temperature is at its highest for those wanting to dive off their yacht charter into the beautiful Croatian waters. Zadar hosts various cultural events and festivals throughout the year. The summer months are particularly vibrant with music festivals and cultural celebrations.

During the shoulder season in May and October, you will find cooler weather but much quieter streets as there are fewer tourists. Boat renters can also benefit from lower prices during the mid-season compared to the high season. Therefore, the best time to charter a boat in Zadar largely depends on your preferences and interests.

What type of boat is best for Zadar?

The type of boat you should for your Zadar boat rental will depend on the sort of holiday you want. If you only plan to sail for a few days, we’d recommend a daily rental, such as a motorboat or a RIB.

However, if you’re after a longer holiday of a week or more, we’d recommend a more spacious and comfortable vessel such as a catamaran. This boat is ideal for family holidays or a trip with a group of friends, and it comes fully equipped with all the necessary accommodations onboard, such as a kitchen, bathroom and cabins.

For a more traditional sailing experience, we’d recommend a sailboat rental however, you should always choose one with a skipper since these boats can be tricky to navigate. The best boat type depends on your group size and preferences.

Zadar | An Irresistible Destination on the Adriatic Coast

Zadar is the most irresistible city on the north Dalmatian coast, the second-largest city after Split . A group of islands northwest of the city creates a small Zadar archipelago. The islands are Silba, Olib, Premuda, Ist, Molat, Skarda, Iz, Rava, and Dugi Otok.

ZADAR Riva 1200

The best description of Zadar comes from the late film director Alfred Hitchcock. When he visited the city, he said that Zadar had the most beautiful sunset, even better than the one in Key West! He would applaud it every evening when trying to catch its colors with his camera.

What are some popular places in Zadar?

  • The Riva runs along the shore of the old city. It is a lovely city promenade overlooking the Zadar channel and neighboring islands.
  • Narodni Trg is the epicenter of public life from the Renaissance until today.
  • Kalelarga is the main street of the city, extending in the east-west direction. It follows the path of the main longitudinal Roman street (Decumanus and Maximus). This street means much to the people of Zadar. Kalelarga is wide and vivacious, with many shops, cafes, and restaurants.
  • The one-of-a-kind Sea Organs. The Sea Organs look like a series of broad steps leading down to the sea and stretching along the Riva for about 70 meters. These unique sound-art objects were created by the famous Croatian architect Nikola Basic. Sea waves splashing the pipes produce unusual and unique tones.
  • The Greeting to the Sun is a model of the solar system connected to the Sea Organs that is transposed into a show of light. Performances begin on the Zadar waterfront after sunset.

Things to see in Zadar

  • The Five Wells Square. Five decorative wells with drinking water. The wells are positioned between the medieval City Walls and the Renaissance Grimani Bastion. They were constructed in 1574 as a defense against Turkish sieges.
  • Episcopal Complex of Zadar (churches). The complex includes many sacred places like the Church of St. Donatus, the Roman Forum, the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Zmajevic Seminary, the Orthodox Church of St. Elias, and the Benedictine Nunnery.
  • The Silver and Gold of Zadar. This exhibition is in the Benedictine convent of St Mary’s, where nuns have guarded it since the end of the Second World War. It forms the Permanent Exhibition of Religious Art, one of Croatia’s most important cultural repositories. This exhibition includes manuscripts, sculptures, embroideries, tapestries, and reliefs.
  • The Museum of Ancient Glass is one of the city´s newest attractions. The museum contains one of the finest collections of Roman glassware found outside Italy. On the second floor of the museum, there is a glass-blowing atelier and a school of glassblowing. There you can blow some of your pieces to bring home.
  • Zadar City Market. This market has been here since the Middle Ages.  Proud locals claim it´s the best fish market on the Dalmatian coast.

Things to do while in the City

  • Have coffee on the city piazza or Riva, then in the afternoon, have another one.
  • Enjoy local Konobas and restaurants.
  • Explore the city.
  • Stroll along Kalelarga and browse in trendy shops with an Italian fashion influence.
  • Listen to the Sea Organs playing unique meditative sounds.
  • Blow your piece of glass jewelry in the city museum.
  • Watch the most beautiful sunset in the city of Riva.
  • Have fun and explore the nightlife of the Zadar club scene.

Zadar sunset

Zadar region

The city of Zadar is Croatia’s oldest inhabited city , its history dating as far back as the 9th Century BC. With a perfectly formed old town on a peninsula with the Adriatic wrapped around it, explore this if you’re seeking the ideal Croatian city break by the sea, complete with history, architecture, great food and wine.

Amidst so much heritage, history and jawdroppingly beautiful architecture, we loved the waterfront area of Zadar. Right by the lapping Adriatic with an unspoilt, breathtaking view across to the Croatian islands, a stroll along this stretch day or night is fabulous, but sunrise and sunset are particularly captivating. Expect crowds, especially when the weather is perfect. This spot boasts of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see.

yacht charter zadar croatia

The Sea Organ is an unbelievably simple but complex and clever piece of architecture where the Adriatic’s waves make music 24 hours a day . The lapping aqua-hued waves of the Adriatic create a symphony from the force of hitting against the quay and pushing air through ‘organ’ pipes to produce sound. You’ll find yourself spending hours just sitting and relaxing here.

The Greeting to the Sun

‘ Monument to the Greeting to The Sun ’, 300 multi-layer solar panels conserve sunlight during the day and when the sun sets, a light show begins. Illuminating an area that’d otherwise be darkened by the night sky, it’s hugely popular with tourists. Smaller circles representing the planets link the structure to the Sea Organ.

Church of St.Donat

The symbol of the city of Zadar and the most famous monumental edifice in Croatia from the early Middle Ages (9th c.). Church of St.Donat is round pre-Romanesque church which was called the Church of the Holy Trinity until the 15th c., and from that time on carries the name of Saint Donat, by the bishop who had it built. In front of the church of Saint Donat and the Archbishop´s Palace there is a Forum , municipal square from the Roman erais.

The City walls were built as a defence against the Turks. Being a city on the Dalmatian coast, it has been conquered and invaded plenty of times over the decades. Despite sustaining significant damage during World War II, there’s still a huge amount of the structure remaining, but it no longer surrounds the entire town. The Renaissance Venetian gate beside the Queen Jelena Madijevka Park and the small marina opposite on one side then joins with the older structures on the seafront. Over the other side of the peninsula, the walls are also the road into the city, with the cobbled thin streets beneath.

Zadar is one of the most historic cities in Croatia, you can see the elements of its former Roman rule in the architecture and structure of the old town – rectangular, organised streets, a walled surround, city gates and typical areas of the time of Caesar and Augustus, forums, temples and amphitheatres.

Some historic sites and deconsecrated churches are now being re-used in modern ways – for example the gift shop and gallery at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Peter the Elder’s, former St. Laurence’s Romanesque Church (11th Century) within Sveti Lovre on Narodni Trg (People’s Square) and Five Wells Square (trg Pet Bunara) which in the summer turns into a huge pop-up nightclub, hosted right beside the old city walls.

yacht charter zadar croatia

Want to mingle with the locals? The People’s Square (Narodni Trg) may not look like much but it’s really the heart and meeting point of the city. The main building on the square, City Hall, is relatively new (1935) – it’s in Italian fascist style and the fresco-style panels all around are other, reflecting the regime in place around that time. The frescos showing various landmarks from across Italy and the occupied Dalmatian coast.

The Benedictine nuns have been in situ in Zadar since the 7th century and are some of the most learned people on the history of the area. They operate a museum, fabulously titled The Gold and Silver of Zadar , within their convent which holds within some of the most incredible relics, religious artefacts and artworks in the entire world.

The Museum of Ancient Glass , set in a resplendent former palace overlooking the interior harbour, tells the story of glass through the ages – the process of which hasn’t actually changed much from when it was first discovered! See beautiful glass artefacts through the ages found in and around Zadar and also visit the glassblower on the second floor to see a live demonstration of how to create glass objects. Absolutely fascinating and well worth a visit, not least for the gorgeous items in the gift shop at the end!

In terms of temperature, at the peak of the summer (June-August) it usually hovers between 22 and 30ºC, but in general Zadar has a mild, Mediterranean climate. It hardly ever goes down to 0ºC, but rain can be frequent, year-round.
