the SW100X interior redefines the sailing yacht experience

Officially introduced in March 2023, the SW100 X  Allseas   represents a ground-breaking addition to Southern Wind’s exceptional lineup of high-performance superyachts. Stemming from the  DNA of Southern Wind , the new  SW100 X , designed in collaboration with the accomplished team of  Farr Yacht Design  for the Naval Architecture and  Nauta Design  for the exterior and interior design, combines the knowledge and experience gained from the construction of nearly 40 performance sailing yachts in the 90-110 feet range.

With the SW100X, Southern Wind and the design team have redefined  the connection between the guests and the sea  to an unparalleled level, previously unseen on a sailing yacht of this size. This transformation extends not only to the exterior spaces, where a sprawling 20-square-meter seaside lounge provides an authentic terrace on the sea, but also permeates the interior spaces .  The glass windows and surfaces  surpass those found on any comparable sailing yacht, allowing for extraordinary views of the surrounding seascape and bathing the interior with natural light.

In shaping the layout of the SW100X, Southern Wind drew inspiration from their rich  heritage , starting from the historic  SW100 series , and continuing with the  SW102, SW96 , and  SW105  semi-custom projects. Thanks to the transversal orientation of the tender garage, the internal volumes have been optimized to achieve interior spaces typically associated with a 105-foot vessel within a 100-foot hull.

SW100X features the well-proven Southern Wind  four en-suite cabin  layout, complemented by a versatile   multi-purpose area for a TV lounge, workspace, or bar.

The full-beam  owner’s cabin forward  features a centerline double berth with bedside tables and reading lights on either side. On the starboard side, an ergonomic and elegant chaise-lounge can be replaced with a vanity desk.

An  ample midship VIP cabin  offers a 1.60m wide by 2.05m long berth . Two en-suite twin cabins are  located aft and forward of the saloon and can be converted into double cabins for maximum versatility.

Elegance and spaciousness define SW100 X ‘s  full-beam saloon  making it the brightest area of the interior. Natural light flows into the saloon through the  270° panoramic windows  in the newly designed coach-roof, extra-large hull windows on either side, and a  transparent double wide companionway . For those seeking even more light, an optional  central skylight  is available. With an 8-person square dining table and an adjacent L-shaped seating area, conviviality onboard is assured.

The spacious and comfortable  crew area  aft can accommodate up to  four crew members . It comprises two en-suite cabins, a generous galley, crew mess, and the navigation station. An optional door separates the crew mess and crew cabins from the galley, allowing guests to enjoy the galley themselves when no support by the crew is required.

This layout has proven to be ideal for long-distance cruising and is the preferred arrangement for charter yachts. The interior is meticulously crafted using  top-quality materials  and with furniture built to the  highest marine standards , utilizing  sandwich construction  with honeycomb core to reduce weight while maintaining a superyacht finish.

Nauta Yacht Design have drawn on their extensive experience to create an interior design that seamlessly blends an unmistakable style with the practical purposes of onboard living and oceangoing navigation.

The  female mould  for the SW100 X  hull has recently been  completed in Cape Town  and is ready to accommodate the carbon lamination of the hull. The first available launch slot is scheduled for the beginning of 2025, promising an exciting journey ahead for passionate sailors and enthusiasts of the finest superyachts.

The 28.04m/92' expedition yacht 'D'Nice' (ex. Heaven's Gate) was built by Allseas in the United States at their San Diego shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Tim Alls and she was completed in 2010. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Allseas.

D'Nice has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 2 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

D'Nice is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with grp & teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Cummins (KTA19-M3) 600hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 12 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 7,000 gallon fuel tanks at 10 knots. Her water tanks store around 1,000 Gallons of fresh water.

Construction begins on Southern Wind's new 30m model Allseas

South African shipyard Southern Wind has begun construction on the first unit in its 30.4-metre sailing series, the SW100X Allseas. Delivery is scheduled for the close of 2025.

The semi-custom series was first presented in March 2023 at a press conference in Cape Town.

Her exterior and interiors are owed to Nauta Design while Farr Yacht Design is responsible for the naval architecture. Design highlights include a 20-square-metre seaside lounge and extensive use of glass windows and surfaces, "surpassing those found on any comparable sailing yacht".

According to the yard, the design of Allseas is based on Southern Wind's original ethos of "all-seas fast cruising" but has been reimagined with a focus on the cruiser market. The aim is to replicate "the comfort of home in a worldwide cruiser", drawing inspiration from its SW100 series alongside the SW102, SW96 and SW105 semi-custom projects.

Thanks to the transversal orientation of the tender garage, the internal volumes have been optimised to achieve interior spaces typically associated with a 32-metre vessel. The interior design also utilises sandwich construction with honeycomb core to reduce weight while still maintaining a "superyacht finish".

Accommodation includes the shipyard's traditional four cabin layout, alongside a multi-purpose area that can be used as a television lounge, workspace or bar. The full-beam owner's cabin forward features a centerline double berth with bedside tables and reading lights on either side. This is complemented by a chaise-lounge starboard, which could be replaced by a vanity desk. Crew quarters are "spacious and comfortable" with capacity for four people.

Being mindful of "practicality", Nauta Design has opted for living spaces that offer the possibility to mix in built-in and loose furniture and choose different furnishing for bed frames, side tables and various accessories.

The model's brightest space is the full-beam saloon, benefitting from 270-degree panoramic windows (installed in the newly-designed coach roof), oversized hull windows and a transparent, double-wide companionway. There is an optional central skylight available to invite in even more natural light. Arranged as the major convivial area, the saloon features an eight-person dining table and adjacent L-shaped seating area.

Allseas has a versatile aft deck with a waterfront relaxation area complemented by large sunbeds and a swim platform. There is also tender storage hidden under the floor which can transversely store a Williams 435 tender. In total, this area covers more than 20 square metres. "The challenge to creating the seaside lounge was incorporating this with a garage," explained Andrea Micheli, Southern Wind's commercial director.

The model will be available with both hybrid and traditional propulsion packages and will feature a fixed keel or telescopic keel option, but not a lifting keel. The four-cabin layout also comes with a charter-friendly configuration. "[It] makes it a good proposal for dual charterers, as each family can be with themselves," Micheli noted.

This news follows the delivery of Liberty , the fifth hull in Southern Wind's 29.3-metre series. She will be competing at this year's Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta .
