Miami International Boat Show

Elevated interest rates, economic uncertainty, and a cooling boating market don’t appear to be lessening the appeal of the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show, which kicks-off its five-day run on Wednesday.

With six venues spread across downtown Miami and Miami Beach and an expected crowd of over 100,000 forecasted to attend through the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend, the first major U.S. show this year could be a banner event. “It’s the world’s largest boat and yacht show, offering everything from kayaks to superyachts, plus the latest equipment,” says Andrew Doole, president of Informa’s U.S. Boat Shows division. The stats back him up: There will be more than 1,000 boats from kayaks to superyachts on display, with more than 1,000 exhibitors.

The show will have a VIP program called Windward that provides access to lounges and transportation between the event’s six locations. The exclusive offering will also give access to Superyacht Miami and Art Wynwood.

Here are 10 boats, from global debuts to recently launched brokerage superyachts, that will define this year’s event.

AK Yachts ‘Victorious’

The star of this year’s Miami show? That title will likely go to the 278-foot globe-trotting explorer Victorious from the Turkish yard, AKYacht. Taking up much of the dock space at the Yacht Haven Grande superyacht display, Victorious is coming to MIBS looking for a buyer. Asking price? A cool $129 million. This recipient of a 2022 Robb Report “Best of the Best” award is owned by Turkish entrepreneur Vural Ak, who bought the half-completed superyacht in 2016 from New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hunt and had it towed back to Turkey for completion. With an interior design by Britain’s H2 Yacht Design, Victorious offers sumptuous accommodation for 24 guests across 12 staterooms. It also comes with such luxuries as a massive wellness center with a beauty salon and steam room, a wine cellar, a cinema, two wood-burning fireplaces, and a well-designed playroom for kids. The range of 14,000 nautical miles at 13 knots shows that this vessel can go the distance.

Azimut Magellano 30M

sailboats at miami boat show

Azimut’s new Magellano 30 Metri splashed way back in January 2022. The flagship of its popular explorer series was originally scheduled to debut at last September’s Cannes boat show, which never happened. It’s finally making its “world premiere” at Miami. This new 98-foot 30M looks fresh, with a striking exterior by naval architect Ken Freivokh and glass-rich interior by Vincenzo De Cotiis. With its trademark wood slats by the stern cockpit and towering hull sides, the yacht is instantly recognizable as being from the Magellano series. The Miami showboat is the first in the U.S. and is currently listed for sale at $12.75 million. It’s said to have over $3 million in options, including upgraded MAN 1900 diesels.

Benetti ‘Grateful’

sailboats at miami boat show

Less than a year old, the 112-foot Benetti Grateful  will offer some lucky buyer the opportunity to skip the waiting list and take delivery of what is essentially a brand-new boat, in time for summer cruising in the Hamptons. Another bonus: the asking price of $15.9 million is reckoned to be well below the replacement cost. With an exterior design by Britain’s RWD studios, this Benetti 34M Oasis boasts one of the best beach clubs of any sub-120-foot superyacht, courtesy of fold-down terraces on each side, a glass-sided plunge pool overlooking the hydraulic swim platform, and even a cocktail bar. Add to this a contemporary interior in 50 shades of gray and beige by New York architectural firm Bonetti/Kozerki. Grateful ‘s twin 1,380 hp MTU diesels give her a 16-knot top speed and, at 10 knots, the range is 2,700 nautical miles.

Itama 62 RS

sailboats at miami boat show

If ever a boat was designed for the fast-living, look-at-me Miami boating lifestyle, it’s the Italian-built Itama 62RS . Launched back in 2011 with a wave-cleaving, deep-vee hull that dates back to Itama’s classic FiftyFive model from the mid-2000s, this classically styled 62-footer got a full makeover back two years ago. Now it’s being displayed for the first time in the U.S. at Miami. Looking like some classic 80s rocketship from Miami’s fabled Thunderboat Row, it has an impressively long foredeck, a wraparound windshield, and impressive power and performance. How impressive? With twin MAN V12 turbo diesels cranking out 1,400 hp each, the yacht has a top speed well over 40 knots. The cockpit can hold a crowd of up to 14, with three en suite cabins below deck accommodating up to six.

Formula 457 Center Console Sport

sailboats at miami boat show

Formula Boats’s popular 387 Center Console Sport is getting a new big brother. Being unveiled at MIBS is the all-new 457 Center Console Sport, which becomes the second-largest boat in the Formula line-up, behind the 500 Super Sport Crossover flagship. Part dayboat and part fishing machine, this new 45-footer comes with Formula’s proven FAS3TECH deep-vee hull and elongated hardtop with an opening windshield and air-conditioning, plus two rows of bolstered sports seats. Up front there’s plenty of seating, while a port-side door in the console leads down to a comfy cabin with a small galley, a head compartment, and a forward double bed. In keeping with Formula’s go-fast heritage, this new 457 comes with triple Mercury Verado 600 V12s. And next summer Formula is unveiling the 457 Center Console Fish version with an upper helm.

Riva 82 Diva

sailboats at miami boat show

The unveiling of a new Riva makes for a red-letter day at any boat show. And while the Italian yard’s latest 82 Diva flybridge had its premiere at last year’s Cannes show, it’ll be one of the showstoppers at Miami where it will be making its U.S. debut. This sleek, high-sided 82-foot beauty, from the drawing board of Officina Italiana Design, is distinguished by that unmistakable, swept-up hull feature line, a raked-back windshield, and a spacious flybridge. It also features a first for Riva: a beach club with fold-down bulwark terraces on each side. And when you have Piero Ferrari, son of Enzo, overseeing the design and engineering team, you know it will be fast. Powered by twin 1,900 hp MAN V12 turbo diesels, the Diva boasts a top speed of 31 knots.

Chris-Craft Launch 27, 150th Anniversary Edition

sailboats at miami boat show

Happy 150th to all Chris-Craft owners. In 1874, Christopher Columbus Smith started building wooden skiffs and inboard boats in Algonac, Michigan. To mark this auspicious milestone, the manufacturer—now based in Sarasota, Fla.—is unveiling a Sesquicentennial version of its iconic Launch 27 sports bowrider. There aren’t too many dramatic changes: The silver-gray hull gets an aquamarine boot stripe that was one of the builder’s signature colors in the early years. The hand-stitched, embossed leather cover on the steering wheel has a special 150th Anniversary cap and a Chris-Craft 150 welcome page on the chart-plotter. There is also an aquamarine-edged 150th burgee on the flagpole. It’s fitting that the classic Launch 27 was chosen to celebrate the 150 years of the brand since it was the first model in the current Chris-Craft’s lineup.

Boston Whaler 365 Conquest

sailboats at miami boat show

More than a few Boston Whaler devotees were upset when the much-loved 345 Conquest fishing machine quietly slipped out of production last year after a long, nine-year run. Thankfully their disappointment should be short-lived because the Miami show sees the unveiling of the 345’s spiritual successor, the all-new 365 Conquest. Loosely based on the larger, flagship 405 Conquest, the newcomer sees the 405’s quartet of Mercury Verado 400s replaced with triple 400 V10s. And while the 365 shares hull and superstructure design cues with the 405, the hardtop gets a new curvier windshield and increased glass in the pilothouse, plus a new upper helm station. The Edgewater, Florida-based division of Brunswick Corporation nicknames its new 365 Conquest the “SUV of the sea” courtesy of its unsinkable hull design, offshore capabilities, and “transformer” cabin, where the dining area transitions to sleeping quarters at the touch of a button.

Tiara EX 54

sailboats at miami boat show

The slogan for Tiara Yachts’s brand-new EX 54 cruiser, making its Miami debut, could be: “Honey, we shrunk the EX 60 .” Looking very much like a scaled-down version of its flagship 60, the 54-footer has inherited nearly all the best features of its larger brother. They include twin fold-down terraces on the cockpit with built-in doors, a side helm door, sliding glass rear windows with a drop-down section, and a large entertaining area in the bow. Of course, with six less feet to work with, the smaller aft cockpit has less lounging space. The Volvo IPS 950s diesels are also a step down in horsepower from the 60’s twin Volvo IPS 1050s or optional 1350s. Below-decks, the master is a tad smaller and bunk beds instead of twins define the guest cabin. Otherwise, the family resemblance remains intact.

Lazzara Yachts ‘Lanida’

sailboats at miami boat show

Just gazing at this 92-foot, Florida-built Lazzara 92 LSX and you can almost hear that iconic Jan Hammer soundtrack to Miami Vice. Built in 2010, it’s fresh out of a major refit managed by Lazzara as well as the original crew that’s still with this go-fast superyacht. Named Lanida, which roughly translates to “free spirit,” the yacht has never been chartered and only lightly used. Now it’s on sale, with a $2.95 million asking price. What sets the yacht apart, in addition to that dramatic styling and silver metallic paint, is its impressive power. Squeezed tight into its engine room are four Volvo IPS 900, packing around 780 hp apiece. The combined 3,120 hp is enough to punch the LSX to a top speed of over 31 knots.

Miami Boat Show 2024: Everything you need to know

miami-boat-show-2020

The Miami Boat Show (or to give it its full name, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show) is as glamorous and stylish as its host city.

Held every year in February, this is a key showcase for manufacturers to show off their latest models across four on-water locations and the recently revamped Miami Beach Convention Center and Pride Park.

It’s not just American brands either, with yards from all across the globe flocking to Florida to attract affluent showgoers.

When is the 2024 Miami Boat Show?

The 2024 event will take place from Wednesday February 14 to Sunday February 18.

The show opens each day at 10am and closes in the evening at 6pm on Wednesday on Thursday, 7pm on Friday and Saurtday, and 5pm on Sunday. However the legendary Miami parties go on long into the small hours.

How much are 2024 Miami Boat Show tickets?

Prices have yet to be confirmed for the 2024 show, but 2023 prices were as follows:

Standard day tickets start at $40 per adult and $15 per child, but due to the size of the show, we’d always recommend investing $70 in a two-day ticket.

Wednesday is press preview day, so if you want to be among the first to step aboard the world premieres, then you’ll need to pay an extra $20 for a Prime Time Preview ticket.

Furthermore, the Superyacht Miami experience at Island Gardens requires a separate ticket, priced at $125 for Thurs-Sun or $150 for Weds-Sun.

Or if you really want to push the boat out, you can buy a Windward VIP ticket for $375, which includes exclusive entry into the Windward VIP Clubs, a private concierge to book appointments, an open bar, food, and complimentary access to the Boat Show water taxi.

Which boats will be debuting at the 2024 Miami Boat Show?

The full line-up of boats making their debut at the 2024 Miami Boat Show is yet to be confirmed, but you can expect a wide range of world debuts from sportsboats to superyachts.

Breaking news, sea to believe: inside the 55th annual miami international boat show.

Exterior of Miami during the International Boat Show.

February may mean cold weather in much of the nation, but in Miami, things are heating up like never before thanks to the arrival of the 55th edition of the annual Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show .

This year’s show, which starts today and runs to Feb. 18, offers family-friendly fun just when parents and kids need it most — over the President’s Day weekend.

Following a year that has seen the debut of megayachts — such as the Koru, Jeff Bezos’ $500 million, 417-foot, triple-masted schooner — spectacular vessels are in the public eye like never before.

The boat show allows the public to get up close and personal with some of the most magnificent boats and yachts in Miami — and the world.

Some 1,000 vessels are expected to be displayed in total this year.

“The annual timing of the show is perfect,” says Michael Orchard, a yacht broker with Sanlorenzo Americas, the US arm of the famed Italian ship-builder, which has been fashioning some of the world’s most coveted luxury leisure vessels since 1958. “A buyer can basically purchase a new boat off the “lot” [at the show], and finish the winter in Florida and the Bahamas, undergo a brief warrant period in the spring, and then, off to the Hamptons and New England for the summer.”

Exterior of boats and guests at the Miami Boat Show.

Everything from power boats to motor yachts — tenders, sailboats and catamarans — will be on display across the show’s six separate-yet-integrated sites.

There will also be a sizable presentation of boat engines and sailing accessories, along with plenty of ship-focused retail opportunities for sailing fans and fanatics.

This year’s event, said Andrew Doole, president of US Boat Shows with Informa Markets, isn’t merely about putting ships on display.

We’re offering our guests more than just boats — we’re providing a complete experience that highlights the best that the marine world has to offer, all while enjoying the wonders of South Florida.”

Never miss a story.

Oh, and lest the show be left behind on the most popular sport in America, “we have also teamed up with the Miami Open to host a pickleball court for all guests to enjoy,” Doole added.

This year’s show is anticipated to deliver a windfall not just to boating fans, but to the city of Miami as well.

Over 100,000 total visitors from 35 countries are expected to descend upon the show, which is predicted to deliver upwards of $1.34 billion in economic impact to the city during the event.

There will certainly be a lot to see.

“The Miami show is unique this year considering the amount of new yachts immediately available for sale,” observed Sanlorenzo Americas’ Orchard, “which is usually not the case given lead times of years past.”

Exterior of guests at the International Boat Show.

The show itself is actually a series of experiences and events.

The anchor of the show is the Miami Beach Convention Center, which will display power boats up to 49-feet in length, along with engine manufacturers, marine accessories, electronics and retail spaces.

Then, at the Herald Plaza just off the MacArthur Causeway in Downtown Miami, larger powerboats and motor yachts ranging from 50 feet to 125 feet in length will be on display.

There will also be an array of yacht tenders and engines, along with additional marine accessories and shopping.

Just off of the Venetian Islands at the Venetian Marina, the action kicks into high speed with a range of sea-trial vessels on display, along with essential products from notable boat and engine manufacturers. Sailboats, catamarans and sailing accessories will be on show at the Museum Park Marina, while Yacht Haven Grande Miami at Island Gardens, will present a range of the most luxurious superyachts imaginable — many upwards of 300 feet in length.

Aerial of the yacht Incentivized.

The show’s superyachts component is particularly noteworthy, said industry insiders.

“As a hub for superyachts … the Miami show hold an especially important place on the international yacht show schedule,” observed Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess.

This year, the London-based firm will be displaying Incentivized in Miami, a four-cabin, 82-foot vessel with underwater lighting and a “garage” large enough for a pair of Jet Skis.

The price tag: A cool $11 million.

Finally, there’s the Progressive Boat Show Experience at Pride Park, which is geared toward boaters eager to test their onboard knowledge.

As Paul Flannery, COO of the International Yacht Brokers Association explained, “The show offers something for everyone whether it is a new pair of boat shoes or a 300-plus-foot yacht. Each year the producers of the show, along with the support of the entire boating industry, strive to bring a better consumer experience to the boating public.”

“The show offers something for everyone whether it is a new pair of boat shoes or a 300-plus-foot yacht.” Paul Flannery, COO of the International Yacht Brokers Association

Throughout the show’s four-day run, there is far more on offer than merely spectacular yachts, sailboats, catamarans and other types of world-class vessels.

There are also a series of leisure-filled fun zones for boating fans eager to make the most of everything the sea has to offer.

There’s the Nautical Ventures AquaZone, which is designed to provide showgoers with the thrills of water spores and various marine products.

And Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center, which features a Fred’s Shed How-To Center.

Boating experts are on hand to offer free tips, advice and practical skills during daily seminars and demos that cover everything from getting started and operating your boat to keeping it serviced and maintained.

There are a range of educational seminars, featuring interactive presentations and activations taking place throughout the show. Among the most thrilling for visitors of all ages is the Hook the Future kids fishing clinics with Capt. Don Dingman, who will demonstrate various fishing techniques while showcasing a wide variety of fish species.

And, of course, there is an expansive range of culinary experiences inspired by kitchens from across the globe, along with a full-scale cocktail program.

Miami boat show scene with people walking along the pier.

Set, as it is, throughout Downtown Miami and Miami Beach, the show is easy to reach and enjoy.

This year, for the first time ever, visitors arriving from Orlando can hop on the new Brightline train, which drops visitors off at the Brightline Miami Central Station (Brightline also serves Miami from existing entrepôts in Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Aventura).

From there, a complimentary shuttle takes you right to the show.

Once there, a fleet of thrilling Water Taxis whisk showgoers between each site and priced at just $10 per day (pre-purchase is required via WaterTaxi.com )

As for the show itself, there are a host of entry offers and packages at a range of prices and access levels.

One-day general admission for children is priced at $16.50; adult one-day general admission is priced at $43; adult two-day preview and general admission tickets come it at $98 (and are valid from Wednesday through Sunday) and include an extra day of access; adult two-day general admission tickets run $75 (and are valid from Thursday through Sunday); prime-time preview one-day tickets run $64.

Although all of the boats and vessels at the Show are, well, showstopping — some are certainly grander than others. There’s the Victorious, a 279-footer build by Akyacht out of Turkey in 2021 with 12 suites that can accommodate up to 24 guests. There’s also the 200-foot-long Marguerite from Lurssen Yachts based in Bremen, Germany. The Marguerite is entirely self-sufficient and can cruise the seas for an entire month — and features six cabins and room for up to 12 guests.

There are plenty, plenty more.

Finally, with an eye towards the future of sailing — as well as the future of humanity — the 2024 Miami Boat Show will pay close attention to the environment. This year, for the first time ever, the show will generate 100% of its operational energy from renewable sources.

This way, the boat show goes green while still keeping the focus on the deep blue seas.

Calendar of florida boat shows, you don’t have to be a boater to dream like one. check out this round-up of the biggest and best florida boat shows.  .

By Lauren Tjaden

January | February | March | April | June | September | October | November | December

With more registered boats than any other state, endless places to boat and year-round good weather, Florida holds bragging rights as the pleasure boating capital of the World. So, it makes perfect sense that the Sunshine State has the most and best boat shows in the nation. Read on to discover what’s happening in your neck of the sandbar as well as tips to help you get the most out of your boat show experience.

Boat Show Tips

Looking for a boat can be a real challenge, with so many makes and models to choose from. A boat show can make your search easier by putting all of your choices in one location.

If you’re not in the market you can still enjoy these events. Most shows offer accessories as well as temptations like cedar deck chairs or island-style jewelry, as well as delectable food, educational seminars, and even live entertainment. Some of the larger shows, like Fort Lauderdale and Miami , are almost impossible to see in one day, so you may want to allow two or three days to explore them. It helps to get a map and a brochure when you buy your tickets, and then take a few minutes to see what’s on display before you set out walking. This will maximize your time and make your boat show experience more enjoyable.

THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY BOAT SHOW  — The Charlotte County Fairgrounds is home to this four-day event, which boasts the largest exhibition of boats and marine products in the county.

STUART BOAT SHOW AT THE WATERWAY  — Discover hundreds of boats in-water and on land at the three-day Stuart Boat Show, the largest boat show on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Seminars, nautical accessories, music, food and drink round out the attractions.

NAPLES BOAT SHOW  — The four-day Naples Boat Show floats into the Naples-Marco Island area with displays on land at the Naples Airport and in-water at the Naples City Dock, and a complimentary shuttle to get you around.

JACKSONVILLE BOAT SHOW  — The Jacksonville Marine Association invites your gang to join them for three days packed with boat displays, kids’ activities and seminars.

ST. PETERSBURG POWER AND SAILBOAT SHOW  — With bragging rights as the largest power and sailboat show on the Gulf Coast, this four-day affair is enhanced with events like kids fishing clinics and sailing seminars.

At the Progressive Miami International Boat Show, you’ll preview the latest in powerboats, sailboats, engines, cutting-edge marine electronics, accessories and nautical apparel in a show that features more than 3,000 boats and 2,000 exhibitors from all over the world.

- Progressive Miami International Boat Show

MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW  — You’ll need a map to navigate this show, the granddaddy of all Florida boat shows. It features five action-packed days, including James Beard award-winning chefs, live entertainment and virtual reality boating, never mind the most and best drool-worthy boats on the planet.

SUPERYACHT MIAMI  — This show, a five-day mega-festival studded with seminars, special events, and extraordinary yachts, runs at the same time as the Miami International Boat Show.

THE BONITA SPRINGS BOAT SHOW  — Welcome Florida’s premiere boating season with a visit to this four-day show, held at the Naples Ft. Myers Greyhound Track. PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW  — With boats, yachts, accessories, seminars, demonstrations, elevated culinary experiences and more, if you’re a marine enthusiast, this four-day show is the place to be. SUPERYACHT SHOW PALM BEACH  — Running concurrently with the Palm Beach International Show, this show is invitation-only, offering high-end clients a chance to check out an assortment of the World's most luxurious superyachts while enjoying entertainment, luxury lounge experiences, superyacht seminars and private evening events.

SUNNYLAND ANTIQUE BOAT FESTIVAL  — This long-running, three-day annual festival splashes into Lake Dora in Tavares, made even more lively with events like a captain’s party, seaplane rides, live music, beer garden and a flea market.

SUNCOAST BOAT SHOW  — Touted as the Gulf Coast's premier boat show, this three-day extravaganza is held at Marina Jack in Downtown Sarasota. Explore tents brimming with jewelry, art and clothing; enjoy food, drinks, and music; and soak up the sunshine while pricing and comparing hundreds of vessels, big and small.

THE FLORIDA OUTDOOR EXPO  — South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach hosts this event; it strives to bring the community together to discover outdoor activities and sports, including boating.

TAMPA BAY BOAT SHOW  — Yachts! Cruisers! Kayaks! Paddleboards! Boating and fishing supplies! The Tampa Bay Boat Show showcases them all and more. Held at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, this free admission event spans three days, pledging that, “you could be on the water by the end of the weekend”. Fishing and boating seminars round out the fun.

DAYTONA BEACH BOAT SHOW  — Held at the Daytona International Speedway, this three-day event promises something for everyone, whether you’re new to boating or a seasoned sailor.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is the mother of all boat shows, showcasing more than a billion dollars worth of boats, yachts and super-yachts.

FORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW  — Held in late October through early November, this famed nautical extravaganza declares that it’s, “the greatest boat show on the Seven Seas.” It lives up to the hype, encompassing over three million square-feet of exhibits at seven waterfront locations. The boats include everything from 100-foot mega-yachts to flats fishing skiffs, but there’s more. Products, accessories, special events and seminars highlight the show, and over 100 food vendors promise a diverse, delicious way to refuel.

FORT MYERS BOAT SHOW   — You’ll find this popular four-day event in downtown Ft. Myers on the Caloosahatchee River, with boats displayed in-water as well as on land, in addition to an indoor venue stuffed with accessories.

SEMINOLE HARD ROCK WINTERFEST BOAT PARADE — Okay, so it’s not a boat show in the traditional sense, but there are boats and they put on a show. Called the, “Best Show on H2O,” this nighttime parade features boats of all sizes, beautifully decorated with lights, that cruise past viewers on a 12-mile parade route. It’s something the whole family can enjoy together.

Outstanding Orlando Boat Tours (2024)

Orlando boat tours are a fantastic activity in Central Florida, no matter the type of boating adventure you choose.

Some of the suggestions below are full-day tours, and others take mere hours. But all are a great way to spend your time in order to enjoy the Sunshine State’s beautiful scenery. And that could mean a wild ride in the Everglades or sailing sunset cruises on one of the Orlando area's attractive lakes.

We are sharing the best Orlando boat tours – private and group options – including scenic pontoon boat tours, airboat rides, kayaking, canoeing, sunset sails, and even boat rentals at Walt Disney World.

Disclosure: This post has affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you click the link and proceed with a purchase at no cost to you. We recommend experiences, hotels, products, and services we use and support. As Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Book a sunset sailing tour in Orlando . It's our favorite type of boat tour, and Florida sunsets often show off for an audience!
  • Pin the image in this box or flip this post to Flipboard to save it for later.
  • See what to bring for Orlando boat tours so you are prepared to deal with the Florida bugs!

Orlando Airboat Rides

One of the things Florida is most known for is its famous airboat tours. Sign up for this fun adventure whether you’re in Fort Lauderdale or Miami, within Everglades National Park, or Orlando on Shingle Creek, on the headwaters of the Florida Everglades.

You won’t soon forget an exciting airboat ride when you visit the Orlando area, with a chance to see Bald Eagles and other endemic tropical birds, alligators, and crocodiles (maybe even a baby alligator).

Airboat rides are particularly popular amongst nature lovers. These special boats allow you to glide on the unique marshes and swampland of the Central Florida area. We thoroughly enjoyed our Florida airboat experience.

Sign up for a 90-minute fun and educational Orlando airboat tour to encounter the real Florida with experienced captains. Alternatively, secure your spot for a 1-hour sunset airboat tour and hope for one of Florida’s famous colorful sunsets.

Most airboat tours take place rain or shine. Just in case, we recommend traveling to Florida with a poncho or thin raincoat of some sort. Be sure to check in for your tour at least 30 minutes before the experience.

Orlando Boat Tour on an Airboat with Transportation

This tour includes pick up and drop off in Central Florida (including designated Disney World and Universal hotels), a BBQ lunch, a printed photo, and admission to their animal rescue Wildlife Park, where you can see birds, big cats, and reptiles.

The entire experience – from transportation to the boat ride – lasts around 7 hours, including the drive to and from the Everglades area. The Florida Everglades are approximately 45 minutes to an hour's drive each way from Orlando. Choose from a 30-minute or 60-minute airboat ride when you book your experience .

Orlando Sailing Tours

How about enjoying Orlando’s lakes with wind power? Sailing tours are the perfect way to glide on the water. And a sunset sail is incredibly romantic, to boot!

Private Morning Sail

Set sail on a 2-hour private sailing tour, starting at 10:00 am. Adventure awaits on Lake Fairview for up to four guests.

This area is just north of College Park near downtown Orlando and 15 minutes from Orlando’s Lieu Gardens. Don’t forget to bring towels if you want, though water is provided (and lakes are calm anyway, so you shouldn’t really get wet!).

Advanced reservations are required.

Private Lake Sunset Sail

Sail on Lake Fairview, approximately 10 minutes from downtown Orlando, 30-35 minutes from the Disney theme parks (including the Disney Springs area), and 25 minutes from Universal.

This 2-hour private Orlando boat tour can fit up to four people, and they allow you to bring your own snacks and beverages onboard. We recommend bringing a bottle of wine or champagne!

We recommend bringing along a wine tumbler set for your sailboat adventure!

Kayaking Tours

Connect with nature from the comfort of a kayak and get in some exercise too. Orlando boat tour options for kayaking are plentiful.

Kayak with Manatees

Head 45 minutes north of Orlando for your chance to kayak with manatees! These cute and friendly mammals are famous in the Sunshine State, where they come to enjoy the warm water for the winter.

Whether you’re a novice kayaking trying it for the first time, or an experienced pro, this tour is for you if you want to see a plethora of wildlife.

Check out this popular tour with 5-star reviews

Glass Bottom Boat Kayak Tours

If you want to see the fish below the water’s surface without snorkeling, sign up for a glass-bottom kayak tour. See through the bottom of the boat on this Orlando boat tour and have the chance to view the colorful fish and marine plant life beneath you.

Try a Rock Springs guided kayak eco-tour as you glide on the crystal-clear water for two hours. You’ll learn about the local ecosystem, stop for photos, and have the opportunity to swim in the springs. Opt to jump into the water from a rope swing for a thrill during this adventure.

You can also opt for a sunset tour in a glass-bottom kayak . Paddle through the Winter Park Chain of Lakes and canals in a peaceful setting. Your knowledgeable guide will point out interesting nature homes along the way and share some history of the area. You’ll also be able to stop for photos where you like!

If you want to add a fun element to your kayaking adventure, sign up for a Winter Park kayak tour at night with a glow-in-the-dark kayak. The boats are illuminated with nighttime lighting!

They will surely be a good photo opp and fun outing as the lights make the water beneath you glow.

Another great option is this Neon Night Glow Paddleboard or Clear Kayak experience on Lake Ivanhoe.

This unique boat tour allows you to see Orlando’s skyline at night as you paddle along with the help of your guides, the moonlight, and the colorful lights beneath your kayak or paddleboard.

Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour

One of our favorite Orlando boat tours is in Winter Park. It was established in the 1930s, decades before Walt Disney World opened in Lake Buena Vista.

This pontoon boat tour starts near the well-known Park Avenue area. Set out on your scenic cruise from Lake Osceola to the Winter Park Chain of Lakes as your guide takes you through the manmade canals.

Sail past stunning homes in Winter Park, where you will have breathtaking views of the opulent private homes in the area (which is one of the reasons we enjoy the boat tour).

You will have a chance to see wonderful some of Florida’s beautiful birds, like Blue Herons and large cranes, as you travel on several lakes.

Each boat holds a maximum of 18 passengers. Be sure to bring cash or a check to buy your tickets because credit cards are not accepted. We advise purchasing tickets in the morning on weekends, even if you plan on going later in the day. It’s a very popular tour, and tickets often sell out quickly.

Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour is closed on Christmas Day. Otherwise, tours leave daily on the hour, starting at 10:00 am. The last tour is at 4:00 pm.

Day Trip Boat Tours from Orlando

While the Orlando boat tours listed above are within 30 minutes, on average, from Orlando, it’s worth mentioning there are more boat tour options nearby within a 2-hour drive. Here are some additional Central Florida boat tour options.

Mount Dora Lake Tours

One of our favorite destinations from Central Florida is 45 minutes north: the quaint town of Mount Dora . There’s so much to see and do there in the afternoon or morning; a boat tour is the best way to extend your trip to a whole day.

Take a 2-hour pontoon boat tour with a departure point at the historic hotel, the Lakeside Inn. Enjoy your leisurely cruise around Lake Dora and The Harris Chain of Lakes, including the famed Dora Canal.

The all-weather 25’ boats can cruise rain or shine thanks to their retractable clear covers for the sides of the boat. Choose from one of two daytime tours, or their third option to cruise during sunset.

Clearwater Beach with Dolphin Encounter Cruise

This 12-hour full-day tour begins with pick-up at 7:30 am. You’ll head west of Orlando to the popular Florida destination (Clearwater Beach), where you will take a cruise to encounter bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat.

While this means that you aren’t guaranteed to spot dolphins, your tour guide will do his or her very best to find them. You may see these beautiful mammals up close by the boat or further in the distance if they appear in the ocean. Part of the fun is the anticipation.

A one-hour dolphin tour boat ride is sandwiched between hours of free time on a Gulf Coast beach. For only $10 more, you can purchase a wristband for the boat ride that allows you to have unlimited beer, wine, and vodka punch.

Pickup and drop off are included at one of three major locations of your choice (Disney areas included). This means that all you have to do is sign up for the tour and be at that location for pick-up time.

Choose from the three pick-up locations listed below:

  • Walt Disney World area, on Epcot Resorts Blvd. (northern area of the parks)
  • Walt Disney World area, at Maingate Lakeside Resort in Kissimmee (area of the Disney World theme parks that is further south)
  • International Drive (close to Universal) at Senor Frogs

Clear Canoe Boat Tour Near Orlando at Silver Springs

This clear canoe boat tour is approximately halfway between Orlando and Gainesville at Silver Springs. The drive is approximately an hour and 45 minutes from downtown Orlando.

You’ll do a self-guided tour after the kayak company representative meets you and gives you a laminated map and some brief instructions. Paddle near Cypress Trees and see turtles, ducks, birds, and a chance to see manatees during the winter season, when they swim to Florida’s warm waters.

Dan and I often like to explore an area freely, on our own. Maybe you’re the same way! If so, this is a great tour for you in the Orlando area, as long as you can rent a car to get to the meeting point or take a taxi/Uber or Lyft there.

Orlando Boat Tours at Walt Disney World

Did you know that you can rent motorized boats at Disney World? It’s one of the best things to do at Walt Disney World, besides the parks.

Rent a Sun Tracker® Pontoon boat by the half-hour for up to 10 people. You can also opt to kayak or canoe from Fort Wilderness by the hour.

One of the most singular boat tours in Orlando, or perhaps anywhere, is an Amphicar boat tour. Be a passenger and the envy of all onlookers in a cool convertible car that drives right into the water. This experience is available at Disney Springs restaurant, The Boathouse.

Lastly, you can book a specialty cruise to see the fireworks. You don’t even have to be a hotel guest to do so! Snacks and soft drinks are included in a memorable cruise on a 25’ boat.

You can also request for a festive banner and/or balloons to be set up on the boat, which is included in the cost (request at the time of booking). It’s a great thing to do for you and your partner or up to 10 guests total, whether a proposal, anniversary treat, or family reunion.

What to Bring for Orlando Boat Tours

Florida's heat can be brutal, depending on the time of year. No matter the month, you definitely need to protect your skin from the sun. The sun in FL is strong, year-round.

Be sure to pack the following if you’ll be on the water in sunny Florida:

  • Refillable water bottle (the ice will stay intact for hours in the MiiR bottle, our favorite insulated wide-mouth bottle)
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • SPF lip balm
  • Eco-friendly bathing suit
  • Rash guard

Conclusion for Best Orlando Boat Tours

Whether you want to captain a boat yourself, row your way through Florida’s waters in a kayak, see gators on an educational airboat ride, or go on a romantic sailboat cruise around one of Central Florida’s lakes, an Orlando boat is a wonderful Florida activity.

It will connect you with nature, get you out in fresh air, and allow your body to absorb vitamin D in the Florida sunshine. Sign up for an Orlando boat tour and explore this southern state in a unique and adventurous way.

Experienced and prospective watercraft enthusiasts can browse a selection of approximately 500 boats from more than 80 manufacturers at the event Aug. 23-25. While a variety of vessels and on-site seminars are dedicated to fishing, the sport only captures one segment of a large industry.

“We’ll have new 2025 boats coming out that the dealers will be displaying. We have boats from center consoles to pontoons and everything in between,” said Cathy Case, executive director of the Marine Industry Association of Central Florida . “We have people looking to do wake surfing, jet skis, fishing and luxury boats just for cruising. It’s all over the board.”

The fall event presents a good opportunity for prospective buyers to take advantage of special deals only available at the boat show.

“The fall show is a good time to get some good incentives and deals from dealers and manufacturers like extended warranties, service packages, enhanced electronics and accessories,” Case said. “We have 22 dealers in one location. You don’t have to go to every dealership; you can take advantage of having them all on one showroom floor. You can walk around and compare.”

While boats are the main attraction, there are also family-friendly activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy. While Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel is absent from this show’s lineup, guests can enjoy a meet-and-greet with animals from Gatorland and attend a clinic with Capt. Don Dingman of the “Hook the Future” TV show. Children ages 5-15 who attend his clinic can receive a rod and reel combo while supplies last.

“We try to entertain the kids while mom and dad shop for a boat,” Case said.

The show also has street performers, a trout pond for kids, a virtual saltwater fishing simulator, a fishing zone, seminars with Capt. Jim Ross and the chance to win a 2024 bay boat valued at $40,000. The event also features a food court, including a cash bar for adult beverages.

“It’s upbeat, lively and it’s very impressive to walk the showroom floor and see all of the beautiful boats,” Case said. “It’s fun for the whole family.”

Following the Orlando event, the Marine Industry Association of Central Florida hosts the Daytona Beach Boat Show Sept. 6-8.

Lake Michigan Boating Guide

Lake Michigan Boating Guide

Table of Contents

Last Updated on August 23, 2024 by Boatsetter Team

With over 1,600 miles of coastline to explore, Lake Michigan can’t be beat for gunkholing, cruising, and sailboat racing. One of the five Great Lakes, this giant body of water is over 300 miles long, has more than 22,000 square miles of surface area, and borders four sates so there’s always somewhere to go and somewhere to rent a boat with a sharing service like Boatsetter. From Indiana to Chicago and Milwaukee to Mackinac, there are dozens of secluded anchorages, state parks, and charming waterfront towns to visit.

Where to Go

Grand Traverse Bay

You could spend years of summers exploring all that Lake Michigan offers but if you have just a few days of boat rental each season, consider checking out some of these destinations.

Grand Traverse Bay is well-protected and generally calm even if Lake Michigan itself is less so. Learn about Ernest Hemmingway who was from the area or explore the town of Charlevoix that is split in two by a canal which leads to Round Pond and Lake Charlevoix. Bring or rent bikes and ride the 26-mile Little Traverse Wheelway for some exercise.

Visit scenic Door County in Wisconsin on the lake’s western shore. The Door County Lighthouse Festival is popular as are July 4 th fireworks in Egg Harbor. And you don’t want to miss the Sturgeon Bay Harvest Festival in late September. Harbor hopping in this area can’t be beat.

Mackinac Island

Beaver Island is the opposite of busy Mackinac. This remote island is 35 miles from Charlevoix on the mainland and tends to be a quiet respite with an unpretentious municipal dock and fun toy museum. The beaches are pristine and you won’t want to miss the Whiskey Point Lighthouse and the Beaver Head Lighthouse for their spectacular views. Check the weather before crossing from the mainland so you don’t get caught in 30-mile winds which are not uncommon here.

Activities & Highlights

Whether you’re in Milwaukee, Chicago, or Door County, there’s much to do during the summer including live music, wine tastings and art festivals. One big draw is the Chicago Air & Water Show that takes place in August and on a boat, you’ll have front row seats to the action. Another can’t miss event is the Playpen boat party which is like a giant tailgate party for boaters that draws in excess of 800 boats in late July.

There are also sailing regattas like the famous “Mac” race that runs from the Chicago Yacht Club to Mackinac Island. This race takes place in July, is over 300 miles long, and over 125 years old. Join the sailboat send off in Chicago or welcome them at the finish line at the island and partake of all the activities and celebrations on both sides of this classic event.

Lake Michigan is long and it can build up seriously large waves when a northerly wind runs along its entire length. Always check the weather before departing, especially if you’ll be boating farther south around Chicago where the weather and sea state can get gnarly. Freshwater forms steeper waves than saltwater because it’s less dense and running into a wall of square waves is no fun.

It can also get very cold in winter with temps below freezing in January near the Windy City. Target to rent a boat in the area from May to October but be ready to change course or cruising plans, especially in spring and fall when the weather may be iffy. Dress appropriately, bring lots of layers, pack flashlights in case you’re caught out after dark, and don’t forget some extra food and water.

Rules & Regulations

There are a few things to know before you untie the dock lines. Like in most other states, the Coast Guard requires all children under 13 to wear a lifejacket when aboard a vessel under way, and there must be a sufficient number of PFDs for the rest of the people aboard as well. You as the operator, cannot bring the boat within 150 feet of a person in the water for safety reasons – unless you’re participating in watersports.

Also, Lake Michigan is located in its entirety within the United States which means there are no check-in requirements for Canadian immigration or customs. You’ll have a bureaucracy-free run of the whole lake.

Serious Boating

Just because it’s called a lake doesn’t mean you should take it less seriously than coastal boating on the ocean. The Great Lakes are massive bodies of water and Lake Michigan can be nearly 200 miles across so it will take some time to traverse. Be boating savvy and prepared. All this said, there are great anchorages, wonderful beaches, and much to do on its shores so book a boat and have fun all summer long
