Only a few nautical miles north of Rovinj, one of the most popular vacation resorts on the Croatian Adriatic , lies the small village of Vrsar at the entrance to the Limski Channel. In contrast to the more touristy Rovinj , Vrsar has retained the charm of a Mediterranean fishing settlement with its terraced layout up the hillside. Through narrow, winding, but nevertheless light-flooded alleys, you can always catch a glimpse of the bay as you make your way up the slope into the historic upper town. This is how you reach the highest point of the town, where the parish church of Sveti Martin is located. The building from the early 20th century received a new 54m high bell tower in the nineties. You can climb it and, in good weather, look south over Funtana to Poreč and north beyond Rovinj. The seaside resort of Poreč is also an attractive destination for your yacht charter Vrsar. The somewhat more difficult approach to the port there will be rewarded with a visit to the Episcopal Euphrasius Basilica (UNESCO World Heritage Site), relics from Roman times or a large adventure pool. Back in Vrsar, which served as a summer residence for the bishops from Poreč, you can take a long walk along the beach promenade. A wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars invite you to linger for a moment and soak up the atmosphere of the town.

On the coast in front of Vrsar there are 18 uninhabited small islands. Vrsar itself also offers several beaches. The beaches Valkanela and Orsera are particularly family-friendly. The beach Orsera offers for example an aqua park, where you can spend a lot of time climbing, jumping and romping. So even the little ones can enjoy their time on yacht charter Vrsar.

If you prefer a more sportive holiday, you can rent a paddle boat or explore the local underwater world on a dive around the two Salamun Islands.

The Limski Channel , not far from Vrsar, offers an extraordinary natural experience. For private boats this about 11km long sea arm is closed, but there are excursion steamers which sail the channel. Here is also one of the many caves and grottoes of Istria. It was used as early as the Stone Age and is located at the northern end of the river. For several years it also served as the dwelling place of a saint named Romuald. Hiking and biking trails run along the canal, and the steep limestone walls attract accomplished climbers.

Heading south from Vrsar are more usual cruising destinations with the Brijuni Islands, a nature reserve, historic Pula and sheltered Pomer with the Cape Kamenjak Nature Park. Towards the north from Vrsar, however, a no less charming coastline invites to be discovered. Via Poreč, Novigrad and Umag you can also sail to Slovenia . Or for a longer trip you can even plan a crossing to the Italian coast, for example to the lagoon city of Venice.

Marina Vrsar , situated on the west coast of Istria , is a renowned destination for sailors and boat enthusiasts located in the small town Vrsar, just between Rovin j and  Poreč . About Vrsar

Vrsar is a popular tourist destination on Istria's west coast , situated between Rovin j and  Poreč . In Vrsar's history, a significant center was established in the 5th century , featuring an old Christian church. During the Romanesque period , Vrsar became a fortified settlement and an important center of feudal properties belonging to the bishops of Poreč.

Vrsar is also home to several historic churches, including St. Foska Church and the three-naval basilica of St. Mary of the Sea , both dating back to the 17th century. The Renaissance-Baroque-style St. Anthony's Church was also built during this period. The stone from Vrsar, known as Pietra Orsera , was used to build Venetian palaces, bridges, and churches in the region. Marina Vrsar is located in the town of Vrsar, which is located a few miles south of the village Funtana a few miles north of the Lim canal in the western part of Istria Croatia. Vrsar marina is open all year and offers 220 sea berths for ships of 10 to 50 m and 40 berths for boats on land. Each one is a double berth and has electricity and water tap. The largest marina in the immersion depth is 16 meters, 4 meters minimum. Marina Vrsar offers a reception, toilets and showers, restaurant, bar, private parking, engineering services, marine equipment and accessories, stationary crane up to 30 tons and a vehicle for the transfer of the ship. The marina is located near many restaurants, bars, shops, there is also a pharmacy, post office and various pizzerias.

Vrsar Marina, open all year round,  is protected by the small island of St. Juraj, a breakwater with a jetty and a seawall making it a safe  harbour from all winds except strong NW ones. An old stone pier, 60 m long and 20 m wide, which is located at the south end of the marina, is reserved for tourist and fishing boats.

Vrsar Marina has 220 berths in the sea, all connected to electricity and water. The marina can handle yachts up to 50 metres in length and there are places where the depth is 14m, making it a good stop for superyachts. Berthing assistance is also offered. There are also 40 dry berths, a 30T crane and a professional diving service, if needed.

Facilities offered are sanitary facilities, a top class restaurant, a café bar, a nautical equipment shop, a launderette, car park, garbage and recycling bins, surveillance security and Wi-Fi. A petrol station is located in the marina, where the depth of the water is 4m. Visitors can also take advantage of the proximity of Vrsar town where there are plenty of restaurants and bars overlooking the marina and a delightful Mediterranean ambience, especially in the hot summer evenings. There is also an ambulance, post office and nautical shop in Vrsar.

Vrsar is located on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. To the south of the town is the entrance to the Limski Channel, a little further south is Rovinj. On the north side Porec is not far. Far to the north, Umag is another town with a medieval flair waiting to be discovered. A few nautical miles to the north is the Savudrija lighthouse, the oldest still active tower in Croatia. Those who have no problem with customs formalities can continue to Piran. The harbor is quite small and not particularly well protected, but the climb to the nearby castle is well worth it. Yachtcharter Vrsar

Vrsar ist eine kleine Stadt in der Nähe von Poreč und eine beliebte Yachtcharterbasis Istriens. Sie liegt an der Westküste von Lim, an der Mündung der Bucht von Lim. Die Bucht von Lim ist über 10 km lang und erstreckt sich fast bis zur mittelalterlichen Stadt Pazin. Sie auf beiden Seiten von steilen Hügeln umgeben, die bis zu 100 Meter hoch sein können. Die Bucht ist ein einzigartiger und spektakulärer Ort zum Segeln.

Die Altstadt von Vrsar befindet sich auf einem Bergrücken, der von üppig bewaldeten Hügeln umgeben ist. Vrsar ist eine ruhigere Wahl als die nahe gelegenen geschäftigen Orte Rovinj und Poreč.

Vor Vrsar gibt es ein verlockendes Archipel mit 18 unbewohnten Inselchen, das ideal für Bootsausflüge ist. Weiter südlich an Rovinj vorbei, liegen die 14 Inseln des Rovinjer Archipels, ein Inselkomplex von außergewöhnlicher Schönheit. Der Brujini-Nationalpark liegt noch weiter südlich und bietet hervorragende Möglichkeiten zum Segeln. Weitere Merkmale der Region sind eine ausgezeichnete touristische Infrastruktur und gut ausgestattete Yachthäfen.

Atemberaubende Strände, die mit der Blauen Flagge ausgezeichnet sind, säumen die Küste in der Nähe von Vrsar. Das istrische Hinterland ist ebenfalls leicht erreichbar.

Vrsar ist gut mit der Küstenstraße und der istrischen Autobahn verbunden. Die nächsten internationalen Flughäfen sind Pula 60 km, Rijeka 135 km, Triest IT 80 km, Zagreb 255 km, Venedig 245 km und Ljubljana 180 km entfernt. In der Hauptsaison gibt es eine Fährverbindung zwischen Venedig und Rovinj, die nur 5 km entfernt ist.

Segelbedingungen

Die Segelbedingungen sind in diesem Bereich außergewöhnlich. Die Winde entlang der Küste sind in den Sommermonaten meist moderat, überwiegend aus Nordwesten und selten über einer Windstärke von 4/5. Während des frühen Frühlings und Herbst können die Bedingungen weniger geregelt sein. Nur wenige Seemeilen nördlich von Rovinj, einem der beliebtesten Urlaubsorte an der kroatischen Adria , liegt am Eingang des Limski-Kanals die kleine Ortschaft Vrsar . Im Gegensatz zum eher touristisch geprägten Rovinj hat Vrsar sich mit seinem terrassenförmigen Aufbau den Hang hinauf den Charme einer mediterranen Fischersiedlung erhalten. Über schmale, verwinkelte, aber dennoch lichtdurchflutete Gassen erhascht man immer wieder einen Blick auf die Bucht, wenn man sich den Hang hinauf in die historische Oberstadt begibt. So erreicht man den höchsten Punkt der Stadt, auf welchem sich die Pfarrkirche Sveti Martin befindet. Der Bau aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert erhielt in den neunziger Jahren einen neuen 54m hohen Glockenturm. Diesen kann man besteigen und bei gutem Wetter gen Süden über Funtana bis nach Poreč und gen Norden bis über Rovinj hinaus schauen. Der Badeort Poreč bietet für Ihren Yachtcharter Vrsar ebenfalls ein ansprechendes Ausflugsziel. Die etwas schwierigere Anfahrt in den dortigen Hafen wird mit einem Besuch der Bischöflichen Euphrasius Basilika (UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe), der Relikte aus römischer Zeit oder einem großen Erlebnisbad belohnt. Zurück in Vrsar, welches den Bischöfen aus Poreč als Sommerresidenz diente, bietet sich ein ausgedehnter Spaziergang entlang der Strandpromenade an. Ein umfangreiches Angebot an Restaurants, Cafés und Bars lädt dazu ein, einen Moment zu verweilen und die Stimmung der Stadt auf sich wirken zu lassen.

An der Küste vor Vrsar liegen 18 unbewohnte kleine Inseln. Auch Vrsar selbst bietet mehrere Strände. Die Strände Valkanela und Orsera sind dabei als besonders familienfreundlich zu nennen. Der Strand Orsera bietet etwa einen Aquapark, in welchem es sich ausgiebig klettern, hüpfen und toben lässt. Ihr Yachtcharter Vrsar hat also auch für die Kleinen einiges zu bieten.

Wer es lieber etwas sportlicher mag, leiht sich ein Tretboot, oder erkundet bei einem Tauchgang um die beiden Salamun-Inseln die heimische Unterwasserwelt.

Ein außergewöhnliches Naturerlebnis bietet der Limski-Kanal , unweit von Vrsar. Für private Boote ist dieser etwa 11km lange Meeresarm gesperrt, aber es gibt Ausflugsdampfer, welche den Kanal befahren. Hier liegt auch eine der vielen Grotten und Höhlen Istriens. Sie wurde bereits in der Steinzeit genutzt und liegt am Nordende des Flusses. Mehrere Jahre diente sie auch als Behausung eines Heiligen namens Romuald. Entlang des Kanals führen Wander- und Radwege und die steilen Kalksteinwände locken versierte Kletterer an.

Von Vrsar in Richtung Süden liegen mit den Brijuni-Inseln, einem Naturschutzgebiet, dem historisch geprägten Pula und dem geschützt liegenden Pomer mit dem Naturpark Kap Kamenjak, eher übliche Törnziele. Richtung Norden von Vrsar aus lädt aber eine nicht weniger reizvolle Küstenlinie dazu ein entdeckt zu werden. Über Poreč, Novigrad und Umag können Sie auch nach Slowenien  segeln. Oder Sie planen für einen längeren Törn gar eine Überfahrt an die italienische Küste, etwa in die Lagunenstadt Venedig.

Alter Hafen_Vrasar_The former fishing village Vrsar (2700 inhabitants) has become an important tourist center. The long tourist tradition goes back to the summer residence of the bishops of Porec. A special feature is the division of the city into the waterfront and the hilly town on the other side. Life seems to play only on the shore area, while the old town makes an impression as 50 years ago. Mind you, there are also some very nice renovated old town houses.

The city has its name probably from two nearby springs, which is known as the original names have been documented. The place was called over the centuries "Ursaria", "Ursarium", "Orsaria" and "Vrsarium". In each of these words “spring” is included. Relics of old villas and mosaic bring evidence of the influential Roman times. In the middle Ages the city was surrounded by a wall, of which the two gates are still nicely preserved today.

Even the fort and an early Christian basilica are evidence of this period. From 983 to 1178, the city was under the direct administration of the diocese Porec, but under the Austrian reign in the 19th century. The subsequent history is closely linked to the bishop of Porec. For several centuries the "Stone Tues Orsera" was taking from the quarry and exported to Venice and Ravenna. The Venetian Senate and especially the Venetian Magno felt Vrsrar as a haven for criminals – a nest of vipers in the bosom of Venice.

The Trg Degrassi represents the center of the upper city. For many centuries this was the main seat of the Episcopal Saline administrator and Church Square of a ruined chapel from World War II. There you will also find the Roman city gate of the former fort. To the east lies a small Renaissance church called St., Foska from the 17th Centuries. Right next to it, is the main gate of the Roman city from the 13th Century.

Right next to Sv. Martin located on the Church Square, is one magnificent building (Palazzo Edbesorsa). Already in the 12th Century, it drew the bishops of Porec to Vrsar to their summer residence. The then fairly modest building then continuously expanded (14th – 18th century). Because of the high walls and the shooting towers it is also known as a citadel. The guards were necessary because of the revolting peasant which the extravagance of the bishops had caused. In the 19th Century, the palace had to be sold to the patrician family Vergotini, due to economic constraints. After the restoration in 2002, it was converted into condominiums and sold.

The famous contemporary artist Dusdan Dzamonja maintains a private sculpture park. It is located about 1km towards Funtana. Unfortunately, there are no regulated opening times. For other sculptors Vrsar has become their home, as the limestone of the coast is well suited for sculptures. Marble from Vrsar is ideal because it is resistant to salt water.

The promontory Montraker offers some swimming options. You can gain access to the beach from the parking lot of Rade Koncara. There is also a footpath that leads to the school of sculpture. The whole lagoon up until the the island of Sv. Jurai is closed for swimmers. From Montrake you will have magnificent panoramic views of the old town and the port of Vrsar.
