Following in the foot steps of Boris Savinkov
Boris Savinkov died on 7th May, 1925. According to the government he committed suicide by jumping from a window in the Lubyanka Prison. However, other sources claim that he was killed in prison by agents of the All-Union State Political Administration (GPU). Sidney Reilly insisted that Savinkov was murdered in August 1924: "Savinkov was killed when attempting to cross the Russian frontier and a mock trial, with one of their own agents as chief actor, was staged by the Cheka in Moscow behind closed doors." |

This is the new for 2022 Alioth, so it is good to see that improvements keep coming. One of the interesting details of this design is that there are no STL files available for the major hull sections. You are only given Gcode files for them. The other hull fittings are in both STL and .gcode format.
All-Round Performance. A higher forward deck and narrower mid and stern sections, are the easily recognizable modifications of the hull shape. While keeping a smooth hydrodynamic shape, and the genuine Alioth aesthetic, changes on the hull look for an increment in the performance of the boat making it a better all-round design.

Stick your first shim in the deck and slide the block on to it. Insert another shim near the opposite end. Take a look down through the slot and check to make sure the ends of the slot and 5mm hole all match up. Sit it somewhere upside down and wait for your glue to dry.

I actually think it sails just fine with the slow winch as it keeps the boat (and skipper) from overreacting and sailing smooth. It sails more like a bigger boat. According to specs, the difference between LiFe and LiPo is ~0.12 seconds per Revolution and 2 kg/cm (20 oz/in) of torque (~10%).. Life is gonna just fine.

The IOM rule C.6.4 declares the weight of this full keel, excluding fasteners to the hull, must be under 2500 grams. The fin has a printed sleeve, but that is part of the hull. Weight of bulb, fin, and bulb hex nut 2386 gr + 107 gr + 2 gr = 2495 grams! 5 grams to spare is very tight, but just fine.

So next time I would need 3 cans of spray. They are running about $20/can - ouch. Just keep saying, "It's cheaper than a "real" boat!" Overall, It was a lot of work, but I am happy. The 2k finish (other than the toxicity) is great to work with. I would NEVER make a boat this way if I was doing production work.
