Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Lazzara Motor Yacht New Life Back on the Market

Sold in May 2019, the 27.03 metre motor yacht New Life is back on the market, listed for sale by Ale Navarro at HMY Yacht Sales.

Built in GRP by US yard Lazzara to an in-house design, New Life was delivered in 2009. Accommodation is for up to eight guests in four cabins comprising a master suite with a private sea terrace, VIP suite, double and twin. All guest cabins have entertainment centres, television screens and en suite bathroom facilities, while a further two cabins can sleep up to four crewmembers aboard this yacht for sale .

The saloon is elegant and open, offering comfortable seating on a cream-upholstered L-shaped settee to starboard and a similar U-shaped settee to port. Other amenities include coffee tables and an entertainment centre including a large screen television. Forward is a dining area with an oval dining table, offering seating for up to eight guests, and a glass-fronted cabinets for tableware storage. Further forward still, the fully equipped galley has a crescent-shaped banquette seating six guests for casual snacks through the day.

The flybridge comes with built-in seating and sun pads aft, while forward is an al fresco dining space with tables and chairs protected from the sun by a hard top.

Four 670hp Volvo Penta IPS-900 diesel engines allow a cruising speed of 24 knots, topping out at 28 knots.

New Life is asking $3,395,000.

Congress mulls new Secret Service funding after apparent attempt on Trump's life

WASHINGTON — Congress is considering boosting funding for the Secret Service after what the FBI called an apparent second attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life in 10 weeks .

Leaders of both parties and top appropriators say one possibility is to attach emergency funding for the Secret Service to a short-term funding bill that Congress must pass by Sept. 30 to avert a government shutdown .

But they’re also studying another option: giving the Secret Service the opportunity to shift resources and spend more money to guard protectees in the final stretch of the campaign .

“Congress has a responsibility to ensure the Secret Service and all law enforcement have the resources they need to do their jobs," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a floor speech Monday. "So, as we continue the appropriations process, if the Secret Service is in need of more resources, we are prepared to [provide] it for them — possibly in the upcoming funding agreement.”

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, vice chair and ranking Republican on the Appropriations Committee, which drafts funding bills, said Monday that Congress is open to a funding boost. But she also pointed to a letter acting S ecret Service Director Ron Rowe sent to top appropriators on Sept. 5 saying the security failure in the first Trump assassination attempt on July 13 was not the result of inadequate resources.

"[T]he letter goes on to say that, nevertheless, they do need more funding in certain areas. So, I'm sure the subcommittee's going to look closely at that," Collins said, referring to the Appropriations subcommittee that oversees homeland security matters. "Nobody's going to want to deny the Secret Service the funding that it needs as long as it justifies it."

Collins added that it is possible the funding boost could be tied to the stopgap funding measure that must pass this month but that "it's also possible that we could just shift money."

Congress appropriated $3.1 billion for the Secret Service for the current 2024 fiscal year, which was $265.6 million above funding for fiscal year 2023 and significantly more than the $1.8 billion appropriated a decade ago.

Other Republicans said it's clear something has to change.

"The Republican nominee has already been shot once. Wake up, we're leaking oil here," said Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.

A spokesman for Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., declined to say whether the House is considering linking more Secret Service funding to a continuing resolution and pointed to his appearance Monday on Fox News, where he called for more personnel to be shifted to Trump.

Johnson said in the interview that Trump needs more protection than anyone else: “He’s the most attacked. He’s the most threatened, even probably more than when he was in the Oval Office. So we are demanding in the House that he have every asset available, and we will make more available if necessary. I don’t think it’s a funding issue. I think it’s a manpower allocation.”

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., a member of the Homeland Security Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Secret Service, was also adamant that the Secret Service does not need any more money.

“That’s always the solution, isn’t it? Got a problem, federal government spends more money. Well, we’re $35 trillion in debt,” said Johnson, a close Trump ally and former chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.

He said that Trump’s outdoor rallies put more strain on resources but that “there are plenty of people in federal law enforcement that you could transfer over, train rapidly, and they can do the job.”

Democrats said they would be on board if the Secret Service formally requested more money. Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed, D-R.I., told NBC News that "if they ask for additional resources for protection services, there's going to be no arguing about it here."

And Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, the 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee, agreed that both parties would be "very amenable" to any Secret Service funding request.

Trump's Secret Service detail on Sunday thwarted what the FBI characterized as a second apparent assassination attempt on him while he was golfing at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

A Secret Service agent opened fire on the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh , 58, who fled in an SUV. An AK-47-style rifle was recovered by the golf course, and Routh was arrested and charged with federal gun crimes.

Earlier Monday, President Joe Biden spoke with Trump on the phone and said “thank God” he was OK. Biden called on Congress to approve more funding to allow the Secret Service to hire more personnel.

“One thing I want to make clear, the Secret Service needs more help. I think Congress should respond to their needs,” he said.

The Trump campaign has also asked for additional security for him amid the deadly threats. Two sources told NBC News that the campaign asked the Secret Service for increased security Monday morning.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., a Trump golfing buddy, said he has played with Trump at that golf course "dozens of times" and that the agent who intercepted the man with the gun did his job. But he said Trump escaped because of luck.

"How can you say that the system worked when a guy was able to get an AK-47 by the fence in a bunch of bushes and it's just fortuitous that he stuck the barrel out so the guy could see it?" Graham told reporters, adding that he's unsure what exactly the agency needs to do. "I don't know. I just know between now and Election Day we need to protect these two people."

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., who is also on the Homeland Security Committee, said he’s eyeing wholesale changes to the agency.

“We’re going to be looking more broadly at the effectiveness of the Secret Service as a protection agency and whether it is operating in the way that it should,” he said.

Art has the capricious tendency to thrive on conflict and uncertainty. “It’s the one album that best defines my personality,” Aguilar says over Zoom about “Que Llueva Tequila,” an elegant, mournful collection of música mexicana love songs punctuated by deep — and almost experimental — rock ’n’ roll undertones. Released earlier this summer, it was met with critical acclaim, but the numbers on streaming platforms have been tepid. “This is the first time that I delve into elements of rock and psychedelia that don’t normally show up in mariachi music,” he explains. “I owed this record to myself, and I’m happy with the end product. But I’m not naive. I knew that streaming services wouldn’t exactly be jumping at the chance to add these songs to their playlists,” he adds with a hearty laugh, punctuated with a tinge of cynicism. At 56, Aguilar stands as one of the most respected maestros in contemporary Mexican music. Aguilar also became a huge concert attraction across the Americas with a gentlemanly vocal style that harks back to 20th century Mexico — an intoxicating blend of jubilant ranchera and misty bolero pathos. But everything changes in the fickle world of pop music. Last year, Aguilar was involved in a brief, viral Twitter spat with rising star Natanael Cano over his distaste for the raw new wave of corridos tumbados. His daughter Ángela has been in the public eye due to her recent marriage to controversial singer Christian Nodal . And after years in Los Angeles, the Aguilar family moved to Houston in the state where he was born. “It was a sudden change, but a necessary one,” he says. “We were a bit tired of the cold Los Angeles energy. We pined for something different. I never imagined I would feel so comfortable here. We’re happy for now, but we may return to L.A. in the future.” In many ways, “Que Llueva Tequila” is Aguilar’s emotional reaction to everything that has been happening around him. “This is probably the seventh or eighth time that I completely reinvent myself,” he says. “It’s a new dawn; a new way of doing things.” Like the venerable classic rock aura from which it draws, “Que Llueva Tequila” demands patient listening. “Corazón a Medio Día” begins with the safety of a sweet accordion line, but there are some Pink Floyd-like electric guitars buried in the song’s seraphic outro. And the arena-rock mood that kicks off “Hasta Que Me Duermo” becomes downright symphonic when Aguilar belts out the massive chorus about obsessive heartbreak — a moment that can best be described as progressive ranchera. Some of the songs were written by longtime collaborator Enrique Guzmán Yáñez. Others are by Pablo Preciado, the singer-songwriter with Mexican pop group Matisse. “Maybe I’m being conceited, but I believe we may have stumbled into a new sound,” he enthuses. “The music business is nothing but a game focused on making money and following what everybody else is doing, and many experimental records never make it to the mainstream. But now that anything goes — now that you can include the most vulgar expressions imaginable in a song — why not see what happens with these new sonic possibilities.” Clearly, Aguilar is taking an aim at the unapologetic irreverence of corridos tumbados , their tall tales of sexual prowess and recreational drugs. He laughs when I confess that I enjoy the coarse new sound of música mexicana. “I don’t feel the inclination to include profanity in my songs, or sing praise to the convoys of drug dealers parading themselves in the streets,” he says. “I don’t see myself starring in a musical either, because I don’t like musicals. This doesn’t mean that I’m weird or overtly critical. The good thing about all this artistic liberation is that Mexican artists are now part of the global landscape. At 56, I can tell you that my kids are now adults, responsible for their choices and the consequences of those choices. Our work as parents is already done — we become observers. Of course you suffer for them, but you have to get rid of your own paradigm of how things are supposed to be. Coming to terms with this has been difficult, but also liberating.” These existential musings may account for the gauzy, melancholy mood that informs the songs of “Que Llueva Tequila” — a prism that adds poignancy to his singing. “Music functions like an escape valve,” he says. “Not to place myself in the role of a victim — qué flojera — but I tend to focus on the unfairness of life and its profound sorrow, and there is definitely a lot of that going around, my brother. New York man arrested in Ocean City hit-and-run crash The collision occurred at 12th Street and Philadelphia Avenue on Friday, Sept. 13, at about 9:34 p.m. Michael Scot (cq) Schneider, 51, of Ballston Spa, New York, has been arrested related to this incident. After arriving on the scene, officers located a 16-year-old male suffering from life-threatening injuries. The teenager was treated by Ocean City Emergency Services personnel on the scene before being flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by Maryland State Police Aviation. The teen is currently in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed he was walking in a marked crosswalk at 12th Street and Philadelphia Ave. A motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Philadelphia Ave. toward 12th Street at a high rate of speed, according to witnesses and video footage, before striking the teen pedestrian. What Life Might Look Like on the World’s Biggest Yacht On a Tuesday morning in September, a six-foot-long plastic model of a boat sat on the second floor of the Explorers Club, looking a little like a beached Orca, sleek and out of place in the tweedy boardroom. The tiny yacht had traveled to East 70th Street from Los Angeles and, before that, made stops in Monaco and Zurich, Cannes, and West Palm Beach — a prop to entice buyers who can spend $10 million on a cabin in the world’s biggest yacht. If it gets made. The boat will be called the Ulyssia and it’s the passion project of Frank Binder, a billionaire from the Merck clan with a thing for boats (he once owned a shipyard in Monaco). Lenny Kravitz, his friend, is onboard to help design interiors. (“He’s a genius.”) Binder has been doing a world tour to find other buyers — who might be hard to meet. Maintenance hovers around 3 percent a year, or $300,000 for that $10 million one-bedroom. It’s a big ask, especially for a boat that, if he does get recruits, won’t launch until 2028. To help, Binder brought on two former executives from the World , the luxury liner that was the first — and only — to prove rich people want to live … at sea, all year. (It launched in 2002, is still sold out, and has yet to snag on an iceberg or go bankrupt.) Renato Chizzola , a senior vice-president for the Ulyssia who worked as the general manager of the World for five years, spoke to Curbed about the terrors of elephant seals and why he once hired Israeli snipers to come onboard. This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.  What did your job on the World look like??  I was in charge of lifestyle, expedition, everything — even the kitchen. You have a captain who’s the master of the vessel, and he ultimately will have the last word on safety, security, where we go, where we can’t go. But then you also need to have somebody who has grown up in a galley carrying luggage. I’m 60 in October. When I was 27, I said, “Okay, how can I see the world without having money?” So in 1993, I was hired on the Queen Elizabeth II , then went to hotels, cruises, and in 46 years I traveled to 186 countries. I was allowed to live onboard and basically extend any service, any dream that a resident had. What’s the difference between this superyacht and the World ?  The World is now 23 years old. She was created in the late ’80s. She looks like a cruise ship. And the  Ulyssia is a yacht — the designer says this is his masterpiece. We never had many amenities on the World . Here, we have a deli. We have a library with a card and games room. We have a table-tennis room. We have two paddle-tennis courts all inside, a multipurpose sports deck up there where the helicopters are, two hangers, two submarines to go down to the ocean, seven restaurants. Then, we have this inflatable marina off the back of the boat. Imagine we’re near Bermuda. It’s a beautiful day. The sea is calm. We stop and we inflate this — it takes an hour — and we have tenders. You can go diving right there off the ship. The sea is yours. This marina is something the World could never ever have done, because there’s no space in the boat to keep that. The World was more elderly, a bit elderly retired. This is way younger. Why? Because we have so many amenities and offer adventure. Here, we are offering fewer apartments with more space. The balconies are huge. Luxury, for them, means space, time and getting whatever they wish, whenever, wherever. Freedom. Freedom , in a contained location —  Yes, and in a safe environment, completely protected against any danger. If a resident says, “I want to bring my family there, I want to be safe, I want to have no worries,” safety needs to be core to us. They want the freedom to do what they do at home — to run around with suits, jewelry. And if they are smart enough to say, “I want to go and see real scenarios, not luxury hotels,” they can go places where there’s no luxury and see how the world really works. That’s what this community wants. Sounds like a security nightmare.  We will hire ex-Mossad physically, to be on the ship. On the World , we partnered with Marine Guard, one of the world’s best safety and security companies . It provides technical and physical support. And whenever we went to critical places — for example, when we went through the Gulf of Aden, I brought in Israeli snipers to come on the boat. Nobody, no pirate on earth can come in past them. Then on shore excursions, we have every form of security that you can imagine. Satellite images. Images underwater, over water. When we went to Antarctica, to the Northwest Passage — meeting with the Inuits, the Aborigines — you need people who know them. You need people who safeguard you. In the Antarctic, you are only allowed to go with Zodiacs to the beaches. You need people who know that, who know the sea lions, the penguins. We bring them onboard — 20 or 25 people who know everything about every area. And when we do expeditions, we bring on EYOS, one of the greatest expedition leaders in the world, which goes to places like the Titanic . Is this, like the Titanic , experimental in any way? No, there are similar yachts. But in four years, when she will hopefully leave port, she will be the greenest yacht of this size ever built. And at that time, we may build for whatever is available in terms of fuel, whether it’s methanol or nuclear. There are vessels already going nuclear, military vessels. But isn’t this all risky?  It’s the opposite. You will see more and more environments like this at sea. Why? Because you can escape anything! If there’s an outbreak in New York, a big virus, you just won’t go there. If there’s a war there, you just don’t go there. If there’s a storm, you don’t go there. So this will be a way for the global elite, basically, to pay to avoid any problem. Is it going to be a one percent community? Yes, obviously, but they need to do good around the world, otherwise they cannot come to the community. Imagine the following. We will have a medical center onboard. We have MRI machines. We have a dentistry. Our doctors, when we go to the west coast of Africa, to Senegal, we can have our doctors go out and help. And as we go around the world, we will help to map the ocean floor. We’ll have tools available to measure and send these to oceanic institutions that then take this data. So we are helping to make the world a better place. And that’s the legacy. How are you going to gauge whether the people who want to live here also want to do good?  There’s a very tough background check before being allowed to buy. So can it be that a Colombian drug lord or a Russian weapons dealer comes and says, “Oh, I’m going to take ten?” No, that can’t happen. We’re not a community for people from mainland China who don’t speak English and want to spit around. Or aggressive Russians. We are not a community for sheikhs from any Arab countries. And I have nothing against the Chinese and Russians. I love everybody. I’ve been everywhere. But they just don’t fit here, and they won’t come. We want like-minded golf players, tennis players, joggers, bikers, F1 drivers. We will have roughly 30 to 35 percent Europeans, 30 to 35 percent North Americans, including from Canada, possibly a few from Mexico City, a few from São Paulo. Then we have about 20 percent from Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan. Then we expect to have about 10 percent of people from all over, we don’t know where. It could be anywhere. They’ll need a certain amount of money to get into this boat and I assume, therefore, that you can’t be that picky.  No, we can’t. But we try to be. It’s a balance. We meet them three, four, five, six times. We invite them, show them something, then they say, “Oh, I trust these people. I believe in them.” It’s a slow process. Can a buyer get kicked off? Oh, absolutely. What’s the justice system? There’s a board that’s voted in and we have our chairman on the board. Almost all of the members are people who have either been on yachts, have their own yacht, or have led organizations. If people have their own yachts, why would they sign up for this?  They might have a beautiful yacht of a hundred meters, but they can’t hire all these education guides, explorers all the time. We have 22 guest suites. Imagine we’re coming to Japan. Blossom season. We bring an ex Japanese prime minister onboard, maybe a three-star Michelin chef. We bring them on, let’s say, three weeks before. And they lecture. We can have experts speak about anything. Volcanoes, health and wellness, food and beverage, politics, archeology. And they have you, who’s been to 186 countries.  Exactly. So when I do speak to people who want to buy and invite them for lunch or a coffee, they listen because they know, Oh, this guy has been there. You don’t need to tell them something that you think can happen. You can actually tell them a story. When I went to Antarctica the last time, in 2009, on the way back to the Zodiac, I am walking and these big elephant seals — those are the big guys, like three tons and ten feet long — and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there’s a big sound like MWUGHOWUGH and a big one came up, out of the sand. I stood there frozen. These are moments when you think, Is this really happening to me? How fortunate, how lucky am I to be able to experience moments like this? Mr. Jackson said in an interview that he called Mr. Trump to check in on him around two hours after the Secret Service had driven off a gunman from the fence line of Mr. Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course. “He told me he was always glad to hear from me but he was glad he didn’t need my services today,” said Mr. Jackson, who tended to Mr. Trump’s wounded ear while traveling with him the day after an assassin’s bullet flew within inches of his brain, at a rally in Butler, Pa., on July 13. “I just told him I was glad he was OK and he said he can’t believe this happened,” Mr. Jackson added. “But he said he’s doing well and the team was doing well.” Mr. Trump had been playing golf with his friend and campaign donor, the real estate investor Steve Witkoff, around 1:30 p.m. when gunshots rang out. Mr. Trump was between the fifth and sixth holes and Secret Service agents were traveling ahead of him, scoping out potential threats on the course. An agent had spotted the barrel of a semiautomatic rifle poking through the bushes. The agent opened fire on the man, who escaped in his car before being caught by police later, law enforcement officials said. Mr. Trump gave his own renditions of the episode to advisers and allies. Mr. Trump’s friend, the Fox News host Sean Hannity, went on air to deliver dramatic eyewitness accounts he said he received from both Mr. Trump and Mr. Witkoff. “They were on the fifth hole, they were about to go up to putt,” Mr. Hannity said on Fox News on Sunday. He added that they heard “pop, pop, pop, pop,” before the Secret Service pounced on top of the former president to protect him and a steel-reinforced car whisked him away. Mr. Trump was later taken back to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and home in Palm Beach. Mr. Trump joked to allies on Sunday afternoon that he was disappointed not to be able to finish his putt, and lamented that he had been set to shoot under par. Mr. Hannity said that Mr. Trump told him, “I was even and I had a birdie putt.” Mr. Trump’s senior political advisers were not with him when the plot was foiled and some were shaken when they first heard about it and tried to piece together what had happened. His advisers were furious at the fact that they were facing another unnerving security situation, with a second potential shooter getting within striking distance of the former president. On Sunday evening, Speaker Mike Johnson posted on social media that he and his wife, Kelly, had spent a few hours with Mr. Trump at Mar-a-Lago and that they were “thanking God for protecting him today — once again.” He added: “No leader in American history has endured more attacks and remained so strong and resilient.” Just before midnight, in a post on his social media service, Truth Social, Mr. Trump thanked the Secret Service, law enforcement and Ric Bradshaw, the local sheriff, for keeping him safe. “THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING.
