Info on Model Needed: Seiko A827 Yacht Timer

Hi Guys, Glad to be here! My first post is of course one on needing help. Does anyone have/had this model and/or know anything about it? I have tried various searches and haven't been able to come up with much. Thanks in advance! Kelly

Thanks for the welcome and the good information. More than I had originally found. I didn't even think of using Bing? I bought this watch when I was younger and it's been sitting in the drawer so long that I actually forgot about it. Just wondering if it has become a collector's piece? Thanks again for the info! Sorry, I know about the watch in general - guess I should have been more specific. I was really wondering how rare and perhaps collectible these are? Or even if they are? Possibly, information from someone who has had dealings with one to see what they're value may be? I wasn't able to find more than a couple of tidbits on them using google, but John posted a Bing link and I was able to read more info. Not very common and don't see too much, if anything, about them. Thanks, Kelly

Thanks for the help guys! I have the Sports 100 model with hang tag, in box with manual. It's in pretty good shape, very little bezel wear. I'd rate it at 80% or so. Sorry, not good with up loading pics.

Nice A827 kfalk. I have a A827 waiting to be put together. I was luck enough to fun a new bezel and the shrouds were already in good condition. I am a bit of a A8head. I have quite a few variations. I love the A828 design but dont like the rubbish finish as it just doesnt hold up to any wear. When I get time i'll take some shots of the 'gang' together there are some quite rare ones I think. I saw your old post about spare parts for the Seiko A827 watch. I have one of these exact same models in the yellow and blue. I specifically need those bezel guards or whatever you call them. Seiko A827-6010 Yacht Timer user manual quest

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can assist me with a manual of the Seiko A827-6010 Yacht Timer Sports 100 In searching around I have not been able to find a user manual, only the technical/service manual. A couple of the mode features are a bit obscure to do with the "count" and "km/h" display as well as whether it has an hourly chime feature. Also I'm reliably informed it has a self-test but don't know if this is the "push all four buttons" function the service manual talks about for after battery changes or if its different. I eventually worked out how to turn the alarm and count km/h modes on and off in time mode with set+select but would like a manual if I can get one. Best regards, W

Sure, we’re mostly about mechanical watches here at Analog:Shift. But certain quartz-powered timepieces are simply too cool to ignore — especially when you come across colorful examples produced by Japanese powerhouse, Seiko, during the 1990s.
This 1990s Seiko Yacht Timer features the brand’s nifty Calibre 8M37 quartz movement — one of their first quartz movements equipped with a countdown system. At a glance this Seiko presents as an analog timepiece, but in hand it feels much more like a digital watch without the distraction of an LED display. Let us explain.
A Seiko Reference 8M-037-6000, this piece features a 35mm stainless steel case with a steel friction compass bezel, a crown at 9 o’clock and barrel pushers flanked along the right side. Although simple at a glance, the dial offers a range of function options including a function indicator located at 12 o’clock, a tri-color timing scale bordering the dial’s bottom half and a skeletonized handset.
The ‘digital’ qualities reside within its suite of timing functions and the smooth sweep of the handset while moving through each setting. This Yacht Timer comes with three separate pre-set timers that can be started from 5, 10 or 15 minutes. The free-set timer can be set to 1-minute intervals up to 30 minutes and lastly, its repeat function allows for the timer to count down again when the set time is up.
Oh by the way, this Seiko can also tell the time.
