What is included within the charter rate

The charter rate includes the price of the cruise, the crew, towels, bottled water, ice and a good time!

What is included during the cruise?

During the charter water and ice, are provided. We encourage bringing your own specific drinks and food for the cruise or contacting our Event Coordinator, by clicking on the “Event Planning” tab, to assist you with any planning or catering needs. 

What does the cruise entail? 

The cruise is up to the guest’s discretion. If the guest has specific sites they would like to see, the Captain will follow the guest’s preference. If the guest does not have a preference, the cruise is the Captain’s preference. This allows the Captain to take guests to their favorite spots along the intercoastal. The Charterer will have the option of selecting their own Captain.

Is the yacht allowed to embark and disembark from different locations?

All charters leave from Seapath Yacht Club. If there is a special request for any guest please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate any needs.

Is the max occupancy flexible?

Our max occupancy is not flexible due to regulations. No more than 13 guests (including the charterer) are allowed onboard while underway. 

Is swimming allowed? If so, are life jackets provided?

There is opportunity to anchor out and swim. The boat is fully equipped with proper safety equipment including life jackets which range from infant to adult size. There are floats available for use as well. 

Is alcohol and food provided?

We provide water and ice. Alcohol and food are allowed onboard, but must be provided by you or your caterer of choice. 

Is food and beverage service provided?

We do not provide food and beverage service, although underway the first mate will assist in serving in any way possible. However, if extra service is necessary, please contact our Event Coordinator, in our “Event Planning” tab, for providing bartenders or specific service during the cruise. 

When do I or the caterer arrive to drop off food, drinks, and decorations prior to the charter?

After parking at Seapath Yacht Club, walk towards the dock and you will see a round-about. The first mate will arrive at the round-about with a dock cart and to assist guests with any items they may have for the charter. If items need to be dropped off prior to arrival, please contact [email protected] to coordinate timing.

Are plates, cups, and utensils provided?

Yes, we do provide plastic cups and napkins. Typically, if you require more items the caterer of your choice will provide. For safety reasons, we prefer plasticware to be used onboard. 

How is music played throughout the yacht?

There is an iPad that is connected to the sound system which services the entire yacht. The iPad is connected to Spotify and can play any specific music desired.

Is smoking permitted on the yacht?

For safety reasons, smoking is not permitted inside Blue Bonnet II. Smoking is permitted on the swim platform, with proper disposal, and not while underway. 

Are pets allowed on the yacht?

No, pets are not permitted on Blue Bonnet II. Service animals are allowed, please notify when coming onboard.

Is this yacht available for over night charters?

No, this charter is only available for day charters. 

What is your cancellation policy?

Due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule the charter.

Do we have to leave the dock?

No, you can host a gathering for your friends and family on the yacht while it is still docked.

What options do you offer?

We offer 2, 4, 6 and 8 hour cruises/charters as well as local overnight charters, destination overnight charters, and overnight stays at our dock which is conveniently located in walking distance to the bars and restaurants downtown. 

Where can I view pricing?

Most of our prices can be found by clicking this link , with the exception of our overnight bookings. We offer overnight bookings at the dock and on charter, and both of those options we quote out depending on your itinerary. Please email us through the contact form on the site or at [email protected] to learn more.

What itineraries can we do?

We have a number of itineraries available for you to choose from, and we will recommend some to you depending on the time and year and day which your cruise is, the predicted weather, and how long you book the yacht for. Some sample itineraries are a sunset cruise, a yacht party next to a nearby private island, a day trip to Bald Head Island, a yacht party at Masonboro Inlet, a cruise along Wrightsville Beach, or multiple day trips to Myrtle Beach, Ocracoke, Charleston and beyond.

​What do I need to bring?

Guests should bring any alcohol or food they'd like to eat, we should have just about everything else like all necessary safety equipment, the crew, etc. Soft drinks, water and ice are included and already onboard.  

When should I arrive?

​We recommend arriving about 15 minutes prior to your departure time so that you can get settled and receive your safety briefing before we depart.

What if I have more than 13 people?

While the Coast Guard does not allow us to carry more than 13 guests at sea, we absolutely can have a dock party with more than 13 guests. While we won't be able to leave the dock, you can still party the night away on a yacht!

What's Included?

All bookings include fuel, docking fees, the cost of the captain, his mate, and full use of the yacht and its water toys which include 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, a floating dock, music throughout the boat and free internet, YoutubeTV and Netflix. If you hire the chef or hostess, their services and food will be included as well.

What's NOT Included?

The price online does NOT include tax, gratuity,  or alcohol. Food is not included unless you hire the chef. Lastly, we do not have any decorations onboard so please bring any decorations you wish to put up depending on your occasion.

Can we choose the time of our charter or cruise?  

Yes, absolutely! Any time that you want to leave and return, we can make that happen!

​What's NOT allowed?

While we want you to have the most amazing time aboard our beautiful yacht, a few things are strictly forbidden such as: Unsupervised Dock parties with more than the approved number of persons, sleeping more than 7 people onboard overnight, smoking, drugs, fireworks and flushing anything besides toilet paper down the toilets. 

​Where do I park and how much is it?

Complimentary parking is included and you will park in the Port City Marina parking. If there is a parking attendant there, let them know that you're there for a Carolina Yacht Charters cruise.  

Are children and kids allowed?

While children and kids are allowed, please know that boats do present a safety risk to our kiddos. They must always wear a live preserver and should never be allowed outside without direct adult supervision.

The Wilmington area is one of the best places in the United States to go boating year around. Surrounded by water on the Atlantic, the Cape Fear River and the Intracoastal Waterway , there are many options for boaters looking to enjoy a day out on the water.

Vessels of all sizes and types can find a home or temporary docking in Wilmington at one of the many marinas and yacht clubs in the area. Whether you are traveling down the intercoastal and just passing through or launching for a day adventuring on Masonboro Island, Wilmington’s marinas are some of the best in the country.

In Wilmington you will find marinas with restaurants, fuel, ice and supplies, wet slips and dry storage, there is absolutely something for every boater. Now with that said, the demand for slips and dockage is higher than the supply, so unless you have an inside connection you are most likely going to need to add yourself to a waiting list.

This article outlines the top 11 marinas and yacht clubs in the Wilmington area.

1. Bradley Creek Marina

Bradley Creek Marina was founded in 1964 and a is a private marina very close to Wrightsville Beach, located next to Airlie Gardens. If you find yourself being one of the lucky ones to find a slip in this marina you will benefit from location, being only a mile or so from Wrightsville and Masonboro Island. This marina specializes in wet slips and accommodates vessels from 17 feet all the way up to 65 feet.

2. Dockside Marina

Dockside Marina has been a Wilmington tradition for over 30 years. It’s location is one of the most scenic in the city, located off of famous Airlie Road next to the Wrightsville Beach draw bridge. The Marina features a number of exclusive wet slips and the club house is a restaurant and bar with outdoor and roof seating. Dockside Marina is a great place to tie up if you are lucky and its also a great place to relax, enjoy a drink and some tasty local seafood after a day out on the ocean.

3. Creekside Yacht Club

Creekside Yacht Club is one of the best members only yacht clubs in the Wilmington area. With its close proximity to Wrightsville Beach and Masonboro Island, the club is located on Bradley Creek right off Oleander Dr. The facility provides over 6 acres of marine storage for boats 18 feet all the way to 30 feet. You can also find a full ships store, marine detailing and repair services, a member lounge, bath house, and over 1,000 feet of floating dock with fuel. Slips are very hard to come by, make sure you reach out to get on the list or find out about purchasing one.

4. Wilmington Marine Center

Wilmington Marine Center is a sheltered marina located very close to Wilmington’s Downtown River District . The Marina is set up to handle very large boats up to 100 feet and is in an enclosed basin along the Cape Fear River. Wilmington Marine Center offers both wet and dry slips as well as a full service boat yard, fuel dock and 75 ton lift. The service center is equipped for complete diesel, gas and outboard service.

5. Masonboro Yacht Club

Masonboro Yacht Club is a members only marina situated just off the Intracostal Waterway about half way between Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach . This is definitely one of the quietest and homey marinas in in the area. The yacht club sits in a residential neighborhood making it private and ideal for family boating. Masonboro Yacht Club offers wet slips and dry storage for boat up to 40 feet. After a long day of sailing or boating go back and hang at the club house, meet friends and have a drink.

6. Cape Fear Marina

Cape Fear Marina is a quiet mooring located upriver from downtown Wilmington. The marina is set up to accommodate a large variety of vessels including pleasure, commercial and luxury craft, large sailboats and motor yachts. Cape Fear Marina is members only and specializes in boat slip rentals in a gated, secure dock setting that includes amenities such as a bathhouse, showers, and an on-site laundry facility. The marina is designed for large vessels and a minimum of 40ft is required and a maximum of 100ft.

7. Bridge Tender Marina

The Bridge Tender Marina is a classic local marina, located on Airlie Road right before the drawbridge to Wrightsville Beach . The marina is in a prime to location to access the beach and is within a short walk to great restaurants and shops. The Bridge Tender is set up to accomadate vessels of all sizes, with fuel, pump out and pressure washing services, the marina is a perfect pit stop when traveling the Intracoastal Waterway. The Bridge Tender Marina is right next to the Bridge Tender Restaurant and Dockside Marina .

8. Inlet Watch Yacht Club

Inlet Watch Yacht Club is considered the largest marina in North Carolina. Located in a prime location close to Carolina Beach , the marina is stacked with amenities and is set up to handle vessels of all sizes. Dry slips are set up for boats that range from 35ft all the way to up 45ft.

9. Seapath Yacht Club

Seapath Yacht Club is centrally located in Wrightsville Beach just off the intracoastal waterway. The marina has nearly 200 wet slips and floating docks. Seapath is also a living community with luxury condos complete with the marina and a boathouse for entertaining.

The marina is set up for transient vessels as well as locals and provides slips that range in size from 22ft to 65ft. Boat slips at Seapath are privately owned and are available for purchase from existing owners as they come available.

10. Carolina Beach Yacht Club and Marina

Carolina Beach Yacht Club and Marina is a full service marina situated on the north end of Carolina Beach just off the intracoastal waterway. Carolina Beach Yacht Club and Marina is a great launching point for a day on the water. With nearly 70 wet slips, the marina can accommodate vessels of all types and sizes offering both long term leases and docking for those traveling down the intracoastal. What makes this marina great is its amenities and it’s daily boat rental program that makes rentals available for both full-day and half-day boating adventures. Carolina Beach Yacht Club has a number of amenities including a fuel dock with both diesel and gasoline, a holding tank pump out station, fishing line recycling, a clubhouse with showers, laundry facility, ship store with general supplies, ice, food and drinks, wireless internet and a dog park.

11. Marsh Creek at Scotts Hill Marina

Marsh Creek at Scotts Hill Marina is located about 6 miles north of Wrightsville Beach just off the intracoastal waterway in Wilmington. The private marina offers 40 wet slips and 350 dry storage slips for vessels that range from 13ft all the way to 35ft. You find this marina to be quiet and an easy launch point with a ton of amenities including a fuel dock with gasoline, transient public dock for short term mooring, a convenience store with food, ice and snacks and even a restaurant that serves great sea food and refreshing drinks.

Luxury yacht, disfigured fingers and a police chase: Mystery surrounding rape suspect unravels in LA

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- From a luxury yacht in Wilmington to a dramatic high-speed chase across Los Angeles, the mystery surrounding a fugitive rape suspect from Massachusetts is unraveling.

It involves aliases, disfigured fingers, and that multimillion-dollar boat. Here's how it all unfolded.

The search for Stephen Paul Gale

Stephen Paul Gale, 71, was recently identified through DNA testing as the suspect in a series of rapes in the Boston area from 1989 to 1990.

At the time, he was known as the "Boston Strip Mall Rapist."

He allegedly robbed a store in Framingham, located about 20 miles west of Boston, just two days after Christmas in 1989 and sexually assaulted two female employees while holding a gun to their heads.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Gale was on the run for years before he was publicly identified and was last seen in 2008. Information about Gale was distributed nationwide. Investigators also said he once had ties to organized crime.

Gale was known to use the aliases like Stephen Pisarcik, John Rossi, Paul Costa, Paul DeRosa, Paul DiCarli, Paul Joseph DeCarlo, Steve Miner, Paul Williams, and Paul Ptaszynski.

Authorities said he also may have had ties to Phoenix, Arizona, Texas, Utah and Florida.

"He's a monster and he needs to go to prison for the rest of his life," said one of his alleged victims, who did not want to be identified.

The luxury yacht

According to WCVB-TV , sources said Gale was found aboard a yacht named The Dior anchored at Seacoast Yachts in Wilmington when police closed in on Aug. 8.

On Tuesday evening, AIR7 captured exclusive aerial footage of police as they searched the vessel. At least one of the officers involved in the search was from Massachusetts.

"I'm shocked," said Don Smollett, who's lived at the Wilmington Marina for 34 years. "You never know who you talk to anymore, huh?"

Smollett said it's been about seven years since Gale showed up with the yacht. During that time, Smollett said an inordinate amount of money was poured into renovating it.

"They completely remodeled that boat, they put a fortune into that boat," he said. "Everything you could imagine new went into that boat ... electronics and everything."

The Los Angeles Police Department told Eyewitness News that Gale lived on the yacht at least part time, but Smollett said he'd only see him about once a month when Gale would spend several hours onboard, occasionally bringing an unidentified man with him.

"Every now and then, he'd bring another gentleman that looked like him," said Smollett. "I thought it was his brother, a real heavyset guy also."

According to WCVB-TV, once Gale was in custody, police discovered he had mutilated his own fingertips in an effort to evade authorities.

The police chase through Los Angeles

Police believe Gale suspected he was being watched when he got in his SUV and took off, leading police on a lengthy chase.

The chase lasted just over an hour. Gale was driving a dark Lincoln SUV and drove on the 405 Freeway and on surface streets, mostly driving at a moderate rate of speed and obeying stop signs.

For the majority of the chase, he was able to avoid spike strips and PIT maneuver attempts. However, Gale ran over a spike strip in the Westwood area and at least one tire went flat.

He didn't slow down after the spike strip but ultimately, he was taken into custody near the UCLA medical area.

Gale appears in court

Eyewitness News was the only TV station inside an L.A. courtroom Tuesday where Gale was brought in on a gurney to face check-forging charges from the '90s. His lawyers asked to delay his arraignment while matters in Boston proceed, asking for no bail. The judge denied the request.

"Because of the very serious nature of those charges, including extreme cases of violence, including rape, robbery and kidnapping, at this time, I'm going to set bail in the amount of $2 million," the judge said.

Gale's attorneys told Eyewitness News the 71-year-old recently underwent heart surgery and isn't doing well.

"I have not heard of anybody, any crime, any problems he's had in almost 40 years," said attorney Sammy Weiss.

Meanwhile, the women he's accused of raping say they're finally nearing justice.

"It's time for his reign of terror to end," said one of his alleged victims.

Gale is due back in court on October 9.
