Picture your vision of the perfect day in Costa Maya. If it includes sailing the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean and snorkeling the pristine reefs off the shore of Costa Maya then this is the tour for you. Kick off your day with a festive reception by the hosts of this Catamaran sail and snorkel tour, who will meet you right at the cruise ship pier and take you to your open air trolley where you'll hop aboard for the short but scenic transfer. Along the way you'll be briefed on marine safety procedures which include a proper life vest for each guest as well as the constant care and attention of your professional captain and crew including certified rescue diver guides. Arrive at the fisherman's pier to find a sleek, fully outfitted 50-foot catamaran awaiting your arrival. Come aboard and begin your tour with a delightfully relaxing sail across the azure waters. Take in the expansive views of sun, sea and sky set against the stunning backdrop of Costa Maya and the surrounding tropical jungle up and down the Yucatan Peninsula. When you reach your dive site, you'll get your fins, mask and snorkel, which includes a brand new mouth tube for hygienic use. You'll receive professional snorkeling instructions and an update to the marine safety rules. When you've received the go ahead, you'll slip into Costa Maya's pristine underwater world. Jacks, Snappers, colorful Angel fish, Queen Triggerfish and Blue Tang abound and turtles and rays are a frequent sight. Glide above some of the most pristine coral formations on the coast, including elk coral and brain coral that can grow 15-feet-high and many other varieties of multi-colored coral species. After your snorkel, relax as your guides' entertainment accompanies your rejuvenating sail back to the pier, hop on your shuttle service and enjoy time at the beach. The beach is located close to Mahahual, which is a local Fishing Village. A short time ago, it was a sleepy fishing village far from civilization but now it offers you an inviting array of restaurants and shops to explore and enjoy.

Along the short drive through downtown, your tour guides will offer a short history about the town and inform you about some safety procedures, so you may have the most safe and adventurous time under the watchful eye of the certified staff.  

Catamaran & Snorkel Experience: Embark on a motorized catamaran and navigate through the beautiful Mexican Caribbean. Admire the most stunning views with crystal-clear waters and enjoy the refreshing tropical breezes. Get into Maya’s underwater world and discover a variety of vibrantly colored coral reefs and wildlife underneath. After the snorkel, relax as the guides’ entertainment accompanies you back to the pier. What’s Included:

Release the adventure spirit that lives in you! The Catamaran Sail and Snorkel tour is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean Sea while having fun. Are you ready?

The tour will start at the port of Costa Maya where the guides will meet you and take you to the catamaran at Fisherman’s Pier. Along the way, our guides will give you a safety brief. Don’t worry about equipment! You will wear a proper life vest for your safety. You will also receive a brand-new tube to snorkel with for your hygiene.

Once you have received all the informational rules, you’ll start to enjoy every little part of Costa Maya’s underwater world. Jacks, snappers, angelfish, queen triggerfish and more will join you on this magical journey. What a great way to experience nature!.

After the snorkel, relax as our guides’ entertainment accompanies you back to the pier, with the option of returning to your ship at the port or staying in town on your own. If you decide to stay, walk around Mahahual, swim on the beach, and have a great time!

The tour includes transportation to the Pier. It also includes two refreshments (beer, soda or water). You will receive a wristband for the shuttle taxi service. We recommend to get back 1 hour or 30 minutes before your cruise departure.

Before you step out of the cruise, remember to bring a traveler kit with you.

We recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel, comfortable clothing, biodegradable sunblock, sunglasses, hat, and extra spending money for snacks and souvenirs.

Yes! Even though our guide will help you with everything you need, it is mandatory to know how to swim.

What should I take to the tour?

We suggest bringing a swimsuit, comfortable clothing, bug spray, towel, bio-degradable sunblock, and extra cash for souvenirs and snacks.

Does the tour have restrictions?

Pregnant women, guests with back/ neck injuries, history of seizures, recent surgeries, heart or respiratory conditions such as asthma are not allowed to take the tour. Blood Pressure medication is not allowed to participate for safety reasons. Hearing impaired guests must be accompanied by friends or family. The minimum age required for this excursion is 10 years old. If you have diabetes or vertigo, we do not recommend this tour.

We are on the 1/7 sailing of the Grand and looking at excursions for the Costa Maya port. Since that is the only non-tendering port, we thought we could take a chance on booking on shore rather than booking through Princess. Has anyone done the Catamaran/Snorkel excursion Princess lists for $59.00 per person? Is that price much different than what you could get if you wait? Is this a fun excursion? Thanks for any advice!

Cruising and snorkeling in the Caribbean, what better way to enjoy your day in Costa Maya? Your bilingual guide will meet you at the pier and accompany you to the catamaran waiting at Fisherman’s Pier. Along the way, your guide will brief you on the safety procedures and you’ll be snorkeling under the watchful eye of a PADI certified rescue diver guide. Costa Maya Snorkeling  is one of the activities that most demand has in this international tourism destination. It is especially for tourists who visit us through the international cruise port Costa Maya. The coral reef of Costa Maya is part of the underwater formation, the largest in the American continent and the second largest in the world, its abundant and colorful flora and marine fauna is a great attraction to enjoy in its crystal clear waters.

The tour:  leaves from “Big Mama Beach Club” where the fishermen’s village begins, just 1 mile from the international cruise port. It is an excursion that takes place in a comfortable panga boat that passes in front of the fishing village called Mahahual toward a special point with abundant marine flora and fauna where different species live like parrotfish, snappers, butterfly fish, rays, lobsters, crabs, snails, anemones, different coral species and a large population of sea turtles.

Snorkeling among turtles?  Yes! In this area, there is an important population of green turtles, that can be seen eating sea grass at the bottom of the sea, and which you can swim freely keeping a safe distance so we do not interfere with their eating habits. My wife and I did this snorkeling tour on May 18, 2022 at Costa Maya. So glad we decided to do the tour with the boat since even the short ride got us past the seaweed near the beach. Tour group was small, just 5 of us. We are experienced snorkelers and very much enjoyed the tour. Great guides, a reasonable amount of fish. Guide took great pictures!

Can Kids under 5 be on the boat accompanied by an adult without getting in the water? Without a sitter, we would have to leave part of the family behind!
