Designed by the highly acclaimed Terence Disdale, Blue has earned its place among the world’s largest yachts with a staggering volume of 15,320 tons.

Blue was officially delivered to its owner in June 2022, following a highly anticipated launch earlier in the year.
This magnificent superyacht is a testament to Terence Disdale’s extraordinary talents, as he was responsible for both the yacht’s striking exterior and its sumptuous interior design.

Additionally, the impressive megayacht is designed to house a dedicated crew and staff of 80 members within 40 well-appointed cabins, ensuring an exceptional level of personalized service for everyone onboard.
Blue’s powerful MTU engines propel this incredible motor yacht, enabling it to reach top speeds of over 20 knots. For those who prefer a more leisurely journey, the yacht’s estimated cruising speed is a comfortable 16 knots.
The collaboration between Lürssen and Terence Disdale has redefined the standards of luxury yachting, as Blue’s innovative design and features have captured the imagination of yachting enthusiasts around the world.
With an estimated value of $600 million and annual operating costs of around $60 million, Blue is a testament to the investment in unparalleled luxury, cutting-edge technology, and sustainability. The price of a yacht can vary greatly depending on factors such as size, age, level of luxury, and the cost of materials and technology used in its construction.
Lürssen Yachts, a luxury yacht builder based in Bremen, Germany, has been crafting custom-made motor yachts since its founding in 1875. Ranging in size from 50 to 180 meters, Lürssen yachts are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and use of advanced technology.
The company has a distinguished reputation for constructing some of the world’s largest and most complex yachts, collaborating with top yacht designers and naval architects to create innovative and unique yacht designs. Azzam, Dilbar, NORD, and Scheherazade are among their most notable projects.
Terence Disdale Design, a luxury design and architecture firm headquartered in London, UK, specializes in high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. Established by Terence Disdale in 1973, the firm has gained a reputation for creating elegant, timeless interiors and exteriors for luxury properties and yachts worldwide.
They are known for designing unique and bespoke spaces that reflect their clients’ personalities. Over the years, they have worked with numerous high-profile clients and have received countless awards for their work. Some of their most renowned projects include the Blohm & Voss Eclipse, Lürssen’s BLUE, Lürssen’s Pelorus, and the Oceanco Dreamboat.
Formerly known as Project Blue, the 160-meter superyacht Blue was launched in February 2022 and is now the fifth-largest yacht globally in terms of length overall (LOA). Terence Disdale masterfully designed both the interior and exterior of the 15,320 GT superyacht, taking full advantage of the vessel’s 22.5-meter beam and generous deck spaces.
In a statement from the shipyard, it was revealed that a heightened focus on environmental sustainability played a crucial role in Blue’s construction.
The superyacht is among the largest vessels in the world to be equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system, featuring PTI/PTO units that can be utilized for electric propulsion at lower speeds or for generating electricity to power the vessel at higher speeds.
This innovative technology not only showcases the advancements in marine engineering but also significantly reduces Blue’s environmental impact.
Blue’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond its state-of-the-art propulsion system. The vessel is equipped with an innovative after-treatment system and an advanced wastewater treatment plan utilizing new membrane technology. This system allows the treated wastewater to be safely discharged in “drinking water quality,” according to the shipyard.
Lürssen managing partner Peter Lürssen praised the exceptional team behind Blue, stating, “We are very proud of Blue as yet another statement of Lürssen’s ability and desire to build yachts that meet all of our exacting owners’ requirements, guided by our core focus of expert engineering, beautiful design, and being a proud market leader in developing sustainable technologies.”
The features onboard Blue are nothing short of spectacular, including two helicopter landing sites – a large helideck at the bow and a smaller helipad aft – providing convenient transportation options for guests.
Each of the four upper decks offers expansive al fresco entertaining areas, and there is a swimming platform connected to a beach club. Additionally, forward stateroom balconies on either side enhance the onboard experience.
As Blue embarks on its maiden voyage to Malta, the superyacht is poised to make a significant impact on the yachting industry, inspiring future projects to incorporate sustainable technologies and environmentally-conscious design elements. The legacy of Blue will undoubtedly shape the future of luxury yachting, setting a new standard for innovation, elegance, and eco-friendly practices.

The 160-metre yacht BLUE has been given a contemporary exterior and a traditional, fresh interior design, both by Terence Disdale Design. Efficiency and the desire to be as environmentally friendly as possible were key drivers for the technology on board. BLUE is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists. The yacht also has an electric Azimuth Pod Drive, which in electric mode can be used separately, or when the PTI units are engaged, with the two propeller shafts. In order to generate less noise and vibration and reduce nitrogen oxide levels, BLUE is completed with a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system. Furthermore, the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with new membrane technology that allows the treated wastewater to be safely disposed of in ‘drinking water quality’.

84 Luxury Yacht Interiors: Bedroom, Galley and Salon Pictures
Posted on Published: April 13, 2022 - Last updated: June 13, 2022
A yacht is really just a luxury floating home . When you’re talking 70 feet and larger, they’re a lot nicer than my house. As you’ll see in the luxury yacht interiors below, the quality and aesthetics are simply gorgeous. And we merely feature a small handful of such boats. There are thousands and thousands of these worldwide.
Our epic yacht interiors article is split into 5 galleries: staterooms, guest bedrooms , salons and dinettes, kitchens and bathrooms. The point of this article is to merely give you a glimpse inside these ultra expensive boats… expensive to buy, run and maintain. Be sure to also check out our yacht decks galleries .

Yacht Primary Bedrooms (Staterooms)
We kick off our yacht interiors gallery with the stateroom. When it comes to the primary bedroom on these boats, no expense is spared. They are large, comfortable and stunning in design. These bedrooms are bigger than our primary bedroom.
[su_divider]
Yacht Guest Bedrooms (2 Beds)
Many guest bedrooms on a yacht have two beds so that it can accommodate more people. However, they are, as you’ll see below, still very, very luxurious. These are certainly cozy sleeping quarters.
Salon and Dinette Photos
My favorite room on the boat is the salon and/or dinette area. In many cases, the dinette doubles as the living room. Mega yachts have dedicated salons and dining areas. I love these superb lounge designs below in the cabin as well as the upper lounge areas.
I must admit that kitchens on these super yachts are fairly small. I guess the cooking is done by the staff and yacht owners prefer to have more space for bedrooms, deck space and lounge space. That makes sense given there really is limited space. Nevertheless, these kitchens are gorgeous and the yacht designers certainly didn’t skimp with respect to quality.
Most boats dedicate very little space to bathrooms. Not these. The primary bathrooms below are incredible. The smaller bathrooms are guest bathrooms. These luxury yachts are so large and spacious that even the bathrooms are both beautiful and comfortable to use.

Inside the luxury Bayesian superyacht as Brits missing from boat sunk after tornado
The Bayesian was known for its single 75-meter (246-feet) mast, one of the world’s tallest made of aluminum and which was lit up at night, just hours before it sank
- 20:05, 19 Aug 2024
The £30million luxury Bayesian superyacht that sank off Sicily leaving one person dead and six others missing was just around 700 metres from the harbour before tragedy struck.
British tech magnate Mike Lynch and several other people were among those missing after their luxury superyacht sank during a freak storm off Sicily early Monday, Italy’s civil protection and authorities said. Lynch’s wife and 14 other people survived.
Mr Lynch , who was acquitted in June in a huge US fraud trial, was among the six people who remain unaccounted for after their sailboat sank off Porticello, when a tornado over the water known as a waterspout struck the area overnight, said Salvo Cocina of Sicily’s civil protection agency. One body has been recovered, and police divers were trying to reach the hull of the ship, which was resting at a depth of 50 meters (163 feet) off Porticello, near Palermo, where it had been anchored.
It had a crew of 10 people and 12 passengers, the Italian coast guard said. A sudden fierce storm had battered the area overnight, and struck the place precisely where the 56-meter (184-foot) British-flagged Bayesian had been moored. The luxury superyacht is said to have a 75m (246ft) long mast.
“They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Cocina, noting that another superyacht nearby wasn’t as badly damaged and was able to rescue some of the 15 survivors, including Lynch’s wife Angela Bacares. The crew and passengers hailed from a variety of countries: In addition to Britain, passengers and crew were from Antigua, France, Germany, Ireland, Myanmar , the Netherlands, New Zealand and Spain.
The yacht, built in 2008 by the Italian firm Perini Navi, can accommodate 12 passengers in four double cabins, a triple and the master suite, plus crew accommodations, according to Charter World and Yacht Charters. It had an initial asking price of £30million.
The vessel, which previously was named Salute when it flew under a Dutch flag, featured a sleek, minimalist interior of light wood with Japanese accents designed by the French designer Remi Tessier, according to descriptions and photos on the charter sites.
The Bayesian was known for its single 75-meter (246-feet) mast, one of the world ’s tallest made of aluminium and which was lit up at night, just hours before it sank. Online charter sites list it for rent for up to 195,000 euros (about $215,000) a week. The Bayesian was awarded the best exterior styling at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards.
Witnesses have said the vessel was still at anchor in front of the port of Porticello when the tornado struck and the storm broke the large sail mast which is believed to have led the boat to capsize. The 15 people were saved by the ship Sir Robert Baden Powell, which was anchored by the stricken vessel. Captain Karsten Borner of the Dutch ship said that it was able to hold its position in the sea using engines during the storm but then the saw the Bayesan had disappeared.
“We realized that the boat next to ours was no longer there. We saw a red signal flare coming from the area of the boat, so my first officer and I climbed into the tender and went to provide assistance: we recovered 15 survivors, including a little girl. After raising the alarm, the coast guard units also arrived. We heard screams, we continued to search the area but we did not find anyone other than the 15 survivors who had already been rescued."

British tech billionaire Mike Lynch and his daughter are among six people missing after a superyacht sank in a storm off the coast of Sicily - with one person confirmed to have died.
Twenty-two people were on board the vessel, with 15 rescued - including Britons Charlotte Golunski, 35, and her one-year-old daughter Sofia.
Four other Britons and two Americans remain missing, including Mr Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah, according to Italian media. The entrepreneur's wife was rescued.
Here's everything we know about the sinking of the luxury vessel so far.
Follow live: People missing after superyacht sinks
What might have caused the sinking?
The British-flagged luxury vessel, named Bayesian, capsized at around 4.30am local time off Palermo, according to ship-tracking site Marine Traffic.
It sank with 22 people on board consisting of 12 passengers and a crew of 10, according to the Italian coastguard.
Waterspouts, essentially tornados which form over water, were seen as powerful winds battered the area overnight, local media said.
What are waterspouts?
Waterspouts typically occur during thunderstorms and can develop very rapidly, within minutes.
Their spin generally reaches wind speeds between 75-200mph, but can reach as high as 300mph.
They can travel at around 10-20mph typically but can reach greater speeds on occasions, making them difficult to avoid - especially in something as slow-moving as a yacht.
Matthew Schanck, chair of the Maritime Search and Rescue Council, called the reports of a tornado or waterspout "rare" and "quite alarming".
"The vessel was at anchor in a recognised anchorage," Mr Schanck said.
"Depending on wind direction and the state of the sea, this informs the captain whether it is a safe area to anchor or not. There was nothing that was too concerning, for my eye. All in all, the captain used the information they had to make a safe call."
Who owns the yacht?
British tech tycoon Mike Lynch is among those missing.
The 59-year-old owner of the yacht is known as the "British Bill Gates" and has been in the headlines in recent months over a high-profile fraud case.

In June, a US jury cleared him of all charges , which were related to the sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2011.
HP accused him of deliberately overstating the value of the company before it was acquired by the American technology firm.
Mr Lynch was extradited to the US to face trial in May last year and spent 13 months under house arrest in San Francisco as he awaited trial on 17 charges of conspiracy and wire fraud brought by the US Department of Justice - which were later reduced to 15 charges.
He always denied any wrongdoing and was acquitted.
Mr Lynch's wife Angela Bacares is confirmed to be among those rescued.
Who was on board when the boat sank?
The vessel had passengers from Britain, America and Canada, the Italian coastguard said.
Most of those on board the yacht were British, Italian news outlets have reported, claiming the other people were from New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Ireland and British-French citizens.
Charlotte Golunski was among the Britons rescued. Her LinkedIn profile says she is a partner at Mr Lynch's firm Invoke Capital and has worked there since 2012.
Speaking after the ordeal, Ms Golunski told Italian media that she lost her daughter Sofia for "two seconds" amid the "fury" of the sea but was able to retrieve her.
She said she held the infant above the waves until the lifeboat was ready.
"Many people screamed. Luckily the lifeboat inflated and 11 of us were able to get on board," she told ANSA.
The girl's father James Emsley also survived, according to Sicily's civil protection agency.
Before working at Invoke Capital, Ms Golunski worked at Hewlett Packard for 11 months and studied history at the University of Oxford.
Eight of those rescued were transferred to local hospitals and all were in stable condition, local media reported.
During rescue efforts, divers saw "corpses through the portholes" of the wreck as they recovered the body of a man at a depth of 50m (164ft), according to Salvo Cocina, the head of the Civil Protection of Sicily.
Considering the size of the vessel, authorities would have been alerted about the emergency quickly, Mr Schanck said.
He said the time of the incident would have made the search and rescue operation difficult.
"Visibility [would have been hampered] with it being night time or early morning," he said. "Given the fact most people on board would have been asleep down below, the ability for them to get out to safety could have been challenging, especially if the incident unfolded quickly."
What do we know about the vessel?
The Bayesian was known for its unusual 75m (246ft) single mast - one of the world's tallest made of aluminium.
The yacht's name resonates with Mr Lynch because the software that made his fortune was based on a statistical method known as Bayesian inference - based on an 18th century theory, that helps forecasters predict outcomes more reliably.
The yacht was built by Italian company Perini Navi in 2008 and was last refitted in 2020.
It was listed for rent for up to €195,000 (£166,000) a week, according to online charter sites.
The luxury vessel, which was managed by yachting company Camper & Nicholsons, can accommodate up to 12 guests in six suites.
It won a string of awards for its design, according to online specialist yacht sites.
Mr Schanck said the vessel would have been equipped with "high standard" life-saving appliances and radio communications. He added the yacht would have met all international standards and UK maritime coastguard agency regulations before its voyage.

The boat left the Sicilian port of Milazzo on 14 August and was last tracked east of Palermo on Sunday evening, with a navigation status of "at anchor", according to vessel tracking site VesselFinder.
The Bayesian previously travelled to other parts of Sicily before its last sighting off the coast of the port of Porticello.
On Sunday, the boat was seen off the coast of Cefalu before it travelled towards Porticello, MarineTraffic data shows.
In the days before, the yacht travelled around four of the Aeolian islands, just north of Sicily.
It was previously named Salute, or "health" in Italian, when it flew under a Dutch flag. Its minimalist interior featured light wood with Japanese accents designed by the French designer Remi Tessier, according to descriptions on charter sites.

The Below Deck Med Crew Runs Into a “F-cking Expensive” Problem: “Worst Possible Time"
On Season 9, Episode 6, which aired on July 8, the yachties encountered a "f-cking expensive" problem on the last day of their charter.
While the guests were enjoying a delicious breakfast from chef Johnathan Shillingford , deckhands Nathan Gallagher and Joe Bradley gathered to pull up the anchor and sail back to port. they ran into an issue, however, when the windlass, a mechanical device that helps raise and lower the anchor on a boat, wasn't functioning.
A windlass is like a spool of thread," Sandy shared in a confessional interview. "It has a clutch so you free it from the teeth that haul the anchor. This starboard windlass ... it isn't grabbing, so we're having a difficult time trying to haul the anchor."
After second engineer, Luka, came to the bridge to tell Sandy the windlass was likely "disengaged from the shaft," the crew came up with a plan to use the other windlass on the port side of the boat with a line to help bring up the chain and anchor.
"To use a port windlass you have to release the clutch, pop the drum up, wrap the line around it, and then haul in a little bit at a time," Sandy explained. "Worst case scenario, if I can't get the anchor off the bottom, I have to leave the anchor."
Luckily, the team triumphed and got the charter successfully back to port.

Tech magnate missing after luxury superyacht sinks off Sicily in 'violent storm'
A British tech magnate and several other people are missing after a luxury superyacht sank near Sicily’s main city, Palermo, during a violent storm, Italian officials and sources familiar with the matter told CNBC . At least one person was killed.
Mike Lynch, who was regularly described in U.K. media as “Britain’s Bill Gates,” was not among those rescued, said the sources, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the situation. They added that Angela Bacares, Lynch’s wife, had been plucked from the waters off the Italian island.
Lynch was among six people who were unaccounted for, The Associated Press quoted Salvo Cocina of Sicily’s civil protection agency as saying. “They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he said. Cocina also confirmed that Bacares had survived.
Italy's coast guard said in a statement that the 184-foot sailboat, named the Bayesian, sank “due to a violent storm” off Palermo at around 5 a.m. local time (11 p.m. ET) with 22 people on board. Fifteen people were rescued, and six passengers were missing, it said.
American, British and Canadian citizens were among the missing, the statement said. The coast guard said in later statement that the ship’s cook had died. It did not give the cook's nationality.
Karsten Borner, the captain of a ship that rescued the survivors, told reporters that there was a “strong hurricane gust, and we had to start the engine to keep the ship in an angled position,” according to Reuters.
He added that they had “watched the ship behind us not to touch them and we managed to keep the ship in position.” After the storm was over, he said, “we noticed that the ship behind us was gone.”
“Fifteen people inside. Four people were injured, three heavily injured, and we brought them to our ship, he said. “Then we communicated with the coast guard, and after some time, the coast guard came and later picked up injured people.”
One of the survivors, identified as Charlotte Emsley, 35, told the Italian news agency ANSA that she had momentarily lost hold of her 1-year-old daughter, Sofia, in the water but managed to retrieve her and hold her up over the waves until a lifeboat inflated and they were pulled to safety.
“I immediately hugged her again amid the fury of the waves. I held her tight, close to me, while the sea was stormy,” she said. “Many were screaming. Luckily, the lifeboat inflated, and 11 of us managed to get on it.”
The City Council of Bagheria said in a statement that a child of that age was being treated at a children’s hospital. It said that seven adults were taken to the emergency room but that “it seems that none are in serious conditions.”
Lynch, 59, the missing tech entrepreneur, founded the enterprise software firm Autonomy and became the target of a protracted legal battle with Hewlett-Packard after the U.S. tech giant accused him of inflating the company’s value in an $11 billion sale. Extradited from Britain to the U.S. last year to stand trial, he was acquitted of fraud after a three-month trial.
Italy’s national fire department said in a statement that “divers, a motorboat and a helicopter” had been deployed to help with the search. The wreck was at a depth of around 165 feet, the statement said.
Divers from the Sicilian city of Sassri and Naples, a city on the Italian mainland , were “arriving on site to search inside the sunken vessel,” it said.
Built by Italian shipbuilder Perini in 2008, the U.K.-registered Bayesian has an aluminum hull and can carry 12 guests and a crew of up to 10, according to online specialist yacht sites. Online sites list the luxury vessel for charter for up to 195,000 euros (about $215,000) a week, the AP reported.
The boat left the Sicilian port of Milazzo on Wednesday and was last tracked east of Palermo on Sunday evening, with a navigation status of “at anchor,” according to the vessel tracking app Vesselfinder.
Fabio La Bianca, 40, took a picture of the boat at around 10 p.m. local time Sunday shortly after he closed his bar in nearby Santa Flavia. “Absurd tragedy tonight. I am lost for words,” he said Monday on Facebook.

Who is Mike Lynch? UK entrepreneur among those missing after superyacht sinks off Sicily
Mike lynch, a 59-year-old british technology entrepreneur, was among the six missing passengers who were aboard the bayesian, a yacht that sank in sicily, italy..
Six people remain missing after a luxury superyacht sank off the coast of Palermo in Sicily, Italy on Monday, including British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch.
Lynch, 59, was aboard the Bayesian, an 184-foot-long British-registered sailboat that sank into the water right before sunrise. While six individuals are missing — including American, British and Canadian nationals — one person has been confirmed deceased from the sinking that capsized the yacht's 22 passengers, Italy's coast guard said in a statement.
Of the 15 rescued passengers, eight were taken to a local hospital for treatment and were in stable condition, CNN reported. A 1-year-old was among those rescued. The large vessel sank after heavy rainfall from strong storms caused flooding and landslides in parts of Italy.
Prosecutors in a town near Palermo have since opened an investigation into the events leading up to the sinking, which may shed some light on why Lynch was aboard the superyacht. Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, was one of the rescued passengers, the BBC reported.
Here is what we know about Lynch.
What companies did Mike Lynch found?
In 1996, Lynch co-founded the Autonomy Corporation, an enterprise software company now known as HP Autonomy. He also founded Invoke Capital , a venture capital fund.
Through Invoke Capital, Lynch became a co-founder of Darktrace, a British cyber security company established in 2013 and headquartered in Cambridge, England.
Why was Mike Lynch charged with fraud?
Soon after Lynch sold Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard (HP) for $11 billion in 2011, a sale in which he made around $800 million, he was hit with civil and criminal charges.
In November 2012, HP announced an $8.8 billion writedown of assets and claimed Autonomy artificially inflated its value by hiding "serious accounting improprieties, disclosure failures and outright misrepresentations," the Guardian reported.
Although the UK Serious Fraud Office ended its investigation of the sale due to insufficient evidence, Lynch and Stephen Chamberlain, former vice president of finance at Autonomy, were indicted for fraud in the U.S. in November 2018. Sushovan Hussain , Autonomy's former finance chief officer, was found guilty of fraud in 2018 and sentenced to five years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California .
HP won a civil action in the High Court in London in January 2022 against Lynch and Hussian, the BBC reported. Damages were to be decided later, with the judge saying the amount would be "significantly less" than the $5 billion claimed by HP, according to the outlet.
Was Mike Lynch found guilty?
Lynch was extradited to the US in May 2023 to face 16 counts of wire fraud, securities fraud and conspiracy. He and Chamberlain, who was charged with 15 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy, pleaded not guilty.
On June 6, 2024, the men were found not guilty of all charges.
Lynch told BBC Radio 4 in August that although he knew he was innocent at the onset of this 11-week trial, he felt his wealth allowed him to prove his case in U.S. court.
"You shouldn't need to have funds to protect yourself as a British citizen," he said.
Stephen Chamberlain on life support
On Saturday, two days before Lynch's disappearance, Chamberlain was seriously injured in a road accident, Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Chamberlain was struck by a car in Cambridgeshire on Saturday morning and was placed on life support, the person said, per Reuters.

Mike Lynch, recently acquitted in HP-Autonomy fraud case, is missing after yacht capsized off Sicily (updated)
Update : Authorities have yet to access the inside of the sunken yacht, and Mike Lynch is still classified as missing. Other details have emerged in the interim.
The accident appears to have been caused by a major storm and a resulting tornado-like water column that ensnared and damaged the yacht. Among the other six people still missing are Lynch’s 18 year-old daughter and Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer. The voyage was to celebrate Lynch being acquitted of criminal charges in the U.S. and several members of his legal team were also on board. (The ship was registered to Lynch’s wife, one of the survivors.) By a terrible coincidence, the other person acquitted in Lynch’s trial — Autonomy’s finance head Stephen Chamberlain — had died just the week before when he was hit by a car while out jogging. Original article continues below.
Mike Lynch, the investor and high-profile founder of U.K. tech firm Autonomy, has been declared missing at sea after the yacht he was on, the Bayesian , capsized in a storm off the coast of Sicily early Monday morning.
TechCrunch confirmed with a source close to the rescue operation that Lynch is one of six people missing from the boat. Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, is one of the 15 who have been rescued. One body has been found.
The news is a dramatic, tragic development for one of the more colorful, and sometimes controversial, figures in technology out of the U.K.
Lynch’s enterprise technology firm Autonomy was acquired in 2011 by HP for $11 billion — a major milestone for U.K. technology. But it quickly turned sour, and HP sued Lynch and other executives at the company, arguing it was misled in the transaction.
HP claimed that the deal led to a $4 billion loss — money it then demanded from Lynch and his former CFO. Lynch (pictured above, left) long asserted that he acted in good faith and that he was being made into a scapegoat over a merger gone bad.
That legal drama went on for more than a decade and involved a host of other thorny chapters, including Lynch’s extradition to the U.S. and a lot of very bad publicity for Lynch himself. It also led to a second civil case that took place in 2022 in the U.K., which Lynch lost.
The U.S. criminal case, where Lynch was charged with 15 counts of fraud and conspiracy, went to trial earlier this year in San Francisco. Finally, in June, Lynch was acquitted .
“I am elated with today’s verdict and grateful to the jury for their attention to the facts over the last ten weeks. My deepest thanks go to my legal team for their tireless work on my behalf,” Lynch said at the time. “I am looking forward to returning to the UK and getting back to what I love most: my family and innovating in my field.”
In the interim years, Lynch built up a profile in the U.K. as an investor, most prominently as the founder of Invoke Capital . The VC firm was the biggest investor in cybersecurity firm Darktrace, a connection that was not without its own controversy . It also invested in Sophia Genetics , Featurespace and Luminance, among others. And it appeared that this is the route that he was set to continue.
Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues. We’ll update this post as we learn more.

First look: Inside 34m Van der Valk motor yacht Blue Jeans
Following her maiden voyage to London in November, Van der Valk has offered a look inside its custom 33.7 metre motor yacht Blue Jeans .
Designed inside and out by Guido De Groot , the all-aluminium yacht is tailored towards "kicking back and relaxing" with friends and family and is billed as the most complex all-custom project to date by the Dutch shipyard.
The interior styling follows a warm, yet contemporary theme, with blonde woods, discreet lighting and rich textures throughout. Alongside white Carrara marble, the design team has used liquid metal, copper and Lapis Blue marble.
The yacht also places increased focus on creating a light and airy feeling, which is achieved via higher-than-average ceilings, with a clearance of up to 2.5 metres in the main saloon area.
The main saloon is home to a bar, three separate seating areas with a dining area forward, concealed by a bulkhead with a cinema-style TV screen. The dining area is home to a capstan table that can double in size to accommodate a large party of guests and there is a small galley area attached.
Accommodation for eight guests is split between an owner’s suite, two VIP cabins and a twin cabin. Further cabins can sleep a crew of four.
Elsewhere, the yacht features a circular sofa area on the sundeck with a central firepit and hidden drinks storage, which is accompanied by a retractable diving board integrated into the port bulwark. Blue Jeans is also home to a foredeck "chillout lounge" with sun pads tucked into the bow, a U-shaped sofa and a dining table that pops up from the deck.
Blue Jeans features a large garage for a Carbon Craft CC130 turbojet tender, which is launched by a hydraulic swim platform. Power comes from two 2600hp engines for a top speed of 28 knots.
The yacht stands out with her custom blue hull paint by Alexseal and silver-grey superstructure.
"Building a bespoke boat for clients who know exactly what they desire is a pleasure and a privilege," a representative of the yard said. "It's exactly the kind of challenge we love to take on."
Van der Valk currently has the 34 metre WV0144 on order, and the Dutch shipyard recently delivered the 24 metre Dutch Falcon .
