The oyster 1225, the oyster 1225 combined the pinnacle of luxury with exceptional sailing capabilities of a large, 120 foot sailing yacht..

With her generous stowage and large tankage she was perfectly provisioned for extended ocean passages and global adventures in complete luxury and comfort. She offered the ultimate sailing experience for guests, featuring state-of-the-art 4 spreader fractional carbon spar configured for a fully battened, in-boom furling mainsail and a roller furling headsail. She was constructed to meet stringent DNV-GL build and safety standards, and was also compliant with the MCA LY3 yacht code.

This large, 120 foot sailing boat was designed for entertaining in style, with wide, flush fore and aft decks provided perfect spaces for guests to entertain and enjoy. The sunken tender well doubled as a chillout lounge and outdoor cinema. The enclosed cockpit, protected by a hard top bimini, made a beautiful space for al fresco entertaining. Below, the split-level saloon accommodated up to 12 guests in style. The generous stowage space provided plenty of room for watersports and adventure equipment. In addition, she featured a large superyacht style swim platform as standard.

The exceptional volume of the 1225 meant the interior layout was versatile and highly-customisable to suit one’s personal tastes. The focus was on luxury and comfort, with beautiful hand-crafted furniture, solid wood throughout and meticulous attention to detail. Up to 12 guests could be accommodated in the generous and luxurious ensuite owner and guest cabins – all aft guest cabins featured the signature seascape windows, flooding cabins with light. Forward are dedicated crew cabins and a mess for up to six crew with separate access, which afforded guests complete privacy. Benetti Classic 120' Charter

The 'Benetti Classic 120' charter yacht, also known as the Benetti Classic 37, is an evolution of the Classic series by the design team of François Zuretti and Stefano Righini to create a luxury superyacht with increased space and light.

The Benetti Classic 120' features large a sundeck with a Jacuzzi, a lounge area and a comfy sunbathing area, providing plenty of space for charter guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings whilst on your yachting vacation. These luxury charter yachts also feature a large tender garage that can hold a tender and two wave runners. With a maximum speed of 16 knots they are not not the fastest charter yacht available, but then again the Benetti Classic range is more about comfortable cruising and space.

120' Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht

This new concept is a tremendous starting point for those looking to create their own iconic yacht with Burger’s renowned reputation of quality construction and attention to detail. It was developed to offer an exciting alternative to the typical raised pilothouse configuration and was designed in a close partnership with Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects.

The Burger 120 Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht is available in a variety of interior configurations, allowing the owner to partner with the Burger Design Team to create a yacht that is unique to their ambition and personal requirements. The hull shape has been optimized with Computational Fluid Dynamics and the final configuration has been tank tested at the Wolfson Unit in the United Kingdom to confirm performance characteristics.

This raised pilothouse motor yacht is designed with luxury accommodations and outdoor living in mind. All areas of the yacht have been developed to allow her new owner the ability to create custom features specific to their lifestyle and cruising needs.

“Our focus is always on providing options that excite our clients,” says Jim Ruffolo, president of Burger Boat Company. “We’ll start with a blank sheet of paper or a concept like the Burger 120 Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht. Either way, we design and build yachts that our clients can take around the world with family and friends to enjoy all the best that life has to offer.”

The new Burger 120 Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht is designed to provide its owner luxury and comfort at sea. Large hull windows provide plenty of natural light throughout the yacht, including the guest and crew cabins. Her initial design calls for an on-deck owner’s stateroom with large windows, his and hers heads, a private office and four guest staterooms, each featuring an ensuite head. The two aft guest cabins feature king-sized berths while the two forward guest cabins are convertible, allowing each cabin to feature a king-sized berth or two twin sized berths. Pullman berths are also installed in the forward guest cabins. The design allows for an eat-in galley with a large pantry. Its expansive crew area features three ensuite cabins for up to six people, with a large lounge/crew’s mess area. The crew area features discrete access to the guest accommodations via a private, watertight door, and direct access to the forward mechanical room, providing easy crew access for maintenance and service. The professional galley features a large dinette for use by the crew or as a country kitchen.

As an all-custom build, clients have a wealth of choices for interior and exterior finishes and details. The owner will work in a close partnership with the Burger Design Team to determine the exact specifications of the yacht’s interior layout. The sun deck offers expansive views of the surrounding area and houses a 20’ Novurania Catamaran Tender, jet ski and hot tub. The area also features a day head, large lounging and dining areas, and a helm to starboard. Access to the sun deck is via a comfortable stairwell from the aft deck or via the Pilot House forward. A hardtop is provided for those who prefer to enjoy the shade. The yacht’s interior configuration creates significant space for a large beach club and sports room aft. The yacht also features a large storage area, provided under the sun deck, for water toys, kayaks, cleaning supplies and more. Easy access to this space is via a large hatch aft.

The building production of Nordhavn explorer yacht, the N120, remains on schedule and these new renderings offer a glimpse of the nearly finished motor yacht. The explorer superyacht measures a shade over 120 feet overall or 36.75 metres in length .

The Nordhavn N120 motor yacht

Swift progress has been made on construction of the Nordhavn 120 t expedition/explorer superyacht, and just-released renderings reveal the classic lines and opulent detail the finished hull number one will offer her new owners. At 120 feet, this super-yacht is the biggest project for Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. (PAE), manufacturer of the Nordhavn line.

Production continues on schedule at Nordhavn’s partner factory South Coast Marine in Xiamen, China. Currently, the hull and deck are joined while the engine beds are prepared and ready for installation of the main engines (twin MTU 8V 2000 M72 rated 965HP @ 2250RPM). Delivery is slated for mid-2012.

“This boat is really going to grab the attention of those who are in the 120-foot market,” noted Trever Smith, who oversees the 120 project for Nordhavn.

The brand’s heritage is certainly reflected in the new largest luxury flagship of the fleet, punctuated by the unmistakable expedition style Nordhavns are known for.

Yacht interior designer Destry Darr has been commissioned to develop a high-end custom interior for hull one. The look will be simple and elegant yet contemporary in its styling. African cherry has been selected as the primary hardwood to be used throughout.

The N120 yacht becomes the queen of Nordhavn’s fleet of 16 ocean expedition yachts with the smallest starting at 40-feet in length. PAE staff members and guests took an N40 around the world in 2001 in a fast trouble-free 6 months. This same commitment to true offshore performance and safety is built into every Nordhavn.

Another trait the N120 yacht shares with its smaller siblings is an uncommonly low-carbon footprint in terms of fuel usage. The N120’s fuel-efficient diesel engines and full-displacement hull come together to give an owner worldwide transoceanic range without unnecessarily fouling the environment. “While fuel consumption may not be a major concern for those fortunate enough to own an N120, a smaller carbon footprint and total luxury appointments have proven appeal to the yachting community,” says Nordhavn President Dan Streech.

In true super-yacht fashion, the N120 motor yacht will be customized to the owner’s chosen independent interior designer’s specifications.

At a length of 120 feet, 7 inches (36.75m), a beam of 27 feet, 11 inches (8.51m) and a draft of 9 feet (2.74 m), the N120 is designed to fit in a marina anchorage. She is ABS-classed and designed and built to comply with any international classification. The N120 will be sea-trialled and commissioned at the factory in the presence of its owner’s crew, who will then deliver it on its own bottom at a cruising speed of about 12 knots.

The history of Swan Maxis begins early on, a few years after the establishment of Nautor. An expert client asked for a 17 m Sparkman & Stephens. It was the year 1970 and the magnificent Swan 55 took shape. At that time, it was one of the largest yachts in the world to be produced in series and in fibreglass. Sixteen were built, in both yawl and sloop versions.

A clean foredeck leads aft to the coach roof of the raised saloon, which blends seamlessly into an expansive, protected cockpit area. This core element of the experience afloat is completely free of lines, enabling those not engaged in the sailing of this sublime superyacht to truly relax while underway. The detailed design conceals a sophisticated, electrically controlled bimini top and sprayhood, which disappear into a completely flush coach roof cassette when not in use, and offers extensive shelter from sea and sun.

At anchor, the cockpit area transforms into an encompassing lounge space. With versatile deck sofas, it is the perfect place to unwind as the sun sets before converting into an elegant, intimate dining area. Following the philosophy of other designs in the Maxi Swanline, the Swan 120 also offers ‘aisle seats’ to enhance both the sailing and leisure experience.

Aft of the deck lounge is a clean deck space, still sheltered by the coamings, which runs to behind the steering pedestals with ‘aero-seating’. In-between the helming stations, it is possible to incorporate a ‘snug-island’, which provides protected access to the aft accommodation with a dodger, sprayhood and cozy seating for those on watch.

The voluminous stern section will gain real attention when the yacht is at rest. The transom folds down hydraulically to form a teak-decked swim platform and reveala a spacious garage, housing a tender of 4.5 metres and other toys of choice. Once the tender is launched, the large area becomes available for watersports, sunbathing and even dining. The design means the clean Swan stern under sail effortlessly transforms into a large ‘beach-deck’, connected to a well-organised ‘hangar’ for maximum entertainment at anchor. In addition to the stern platform swinging down, a section of the aft-deck may be opened up to convert into a large sunbed at deck level.

The hull and deck of the Swan 120 will be a full carbon fibre construction, using epoxy SPRINT® pre-preg carbon fibre interior and exterior skins on a core of M-grade Corecell foam. The pre-preg system provides the best in structural stiffness and rigidity at the lightest possible weight, while at the same time ensuring absolute structural integrity. The hull will be laid up in a female mould tooled from the same technology, thereby ensuring identical mechanical properties when the hull undergoes heat curing using the very latest in oven technology.

This soft-furnished space is perfect while under sail or just before the night falls. The proximity to the hull and water offers an experience of the sea in true alignment with Misa’s core philosophy for the interior. It has been commented that these saloon beds are reminiscent of the ‘pilot berths’ typically found in Swan yachts from the 1970s.

A fixed sun lounger with a parasol is integrated into the tender garage door, offering unique waterside relaxation on the rise-and-fall bathing platform. A six metre tender and two jet skis occupy the vacuous tender garage. Glazed safety gates open into what can only be described as a penthouse terrace. Guests are immediately met with a phenomenal outside space. Loose furniture provides a comfortable seating area serviced by a fixed wet bar. Stunning curved glazing separates the cockpit from the interior, offering an ultra-private space for socialising.

The flybridge offers a sensational retreat for owners and their guests. The aft deck is thoughtfully conceptualised with loose furniture from recommended suppliers, including three sun loungers, a large sofa and four comfortable lounging chairs. At the centre of this incredible entertainment space lies a dining table for twelve guests, serviced by a large wet bar and four bar stools. There is no shortage of space on board the revolutionary flybridge, with over 71 metres squared of living space.

Forward of the raised pilot house lies an elevated foredeck. A huge C-shaped seating group with twin tables complements the spa tub and a four-person sunpad. Thoughtful design ensures seamless movement and ample space for both guests and crew. Convenience is paramount, with strategic access points facilitating ease of service and navigation. The main deck galley, conveniently located on the port side, offers direct access to the flybridge for efficient servicing. Guests can ascend to the flybridge via the aft cockpit staircase, seamlessly transitioning into the living space. For uninterrupted access from stern to bow, a starboard side entrance from the raised pilot house ensures seamless connection from flybridge to forepeak. The exterior zones, seating arrangements and features provide an outdoor sanctuary.

The 120 Yacht offers interior features designed to elevate the on-board experience. This spacious yacht offers sleeping accommodation for ten guests in a four-guest cabin configuration, each with an en suite, below deck and a private owners stateroom on the main deck. The elective materials assist in maximising the natural light on board. The 120 Yacht introduces reflective surfaces to bounce the light around the space. Uninterrupted views from dining to lounging in the expansive open-plan main deck. Luxurious stone finishes, detailed centrepiece bulkheads and statement lighting pieces create an elegant space for owners to truly immerse themselves in sumptuous surroundings. Recessed lighting in shelving and ceiling coves envelope owners in rich comfort.

The main deck offers over 122 metres squared of interior volume and is subtly zoned with framing screens on the port and starboard side to offer a sense of separation between the formal dining and comfortable saloon without restricting the space on board. In-set marble flooring in the dining room complemented by matching geometric design in the ceiling defines this space, while the saloon benefits from more angular furniture selections. The generous galley on the port side provides all servicing requirements for the crew.

The main deck saloon is furnished with comfortable freestanding furniture. A large sofa to the port side, with integrated tabletop and shelving units, and beautiful feature coffee table provides a convenient space for lounging. On the opposing side, comfortable armchairs with a side table provide enough seating for large groups. Forward of the saloon is an exceptional dining space with an intimate round table design choice for up to ten guests.

Further forward on the starboard side lies the entrance to a phenomenal main deck owners suite. Re-engineered to improve accessibility, the owners stateroom benefits from a completely flush floor to the en suite which allows ease of movement between spaces.

VIDEO: Superyacht Lovebug’s Salvage Underway, Complicated by Tropical Storm Debby

Since the high-profile sinking of the 122-foot-long yacht Lovebug at the mouth of the West River, everyone has been wondering how and when the yacht will be raised and moved.

Salvage activity is underway, later than expected due to logistical challenges and some delays related to Tropical Storm Debby.

Boaters in the area will have noticed a crane and barge, pumping bottom materials from around the Lovebug , along with water being pumped out. Donjon Marine Co. of New York and New Jersey is leading the salvage operation. The yacht has been slowly sinking into the river bottom, making it increasingly difficult to raise it. That’s why Donjon has had to do some digging before divers can position straps around the boat’s hull to raise it.

A second, larger barge will do the actual lift of the yacht. Salvors had hoped to raise the Lovebug before Tropical Storm Debby’s remnants hit the Bay, but equipment couldn’t be moved into position in time. Unfortunately, the storm’s strong wind and tides shifted the yacht further into the bottom.

TowBoatUS Annapolis has been at the site of the wreck since moments after the yacht sunk on July 27. After Captain Aras Grinius rescued all five of the people on board one by one, TowBoatUS remained on the scene providing 24/7 security, stopping potential scavengers and working through the night for more than three weeks.

TowBoatUS has also handled environmental cleanup, establishing a boom around the yacht and replacing sorbent booms in the weeks that followed the sinking. The service has also been responsible for recovering debris, from a floating refrigerator to sofa cushions that washed up on Beverly Triton Beach.

Prior to its unfortunate sinking, the privately owned Lovebug was available for high-dollar luxury charters. According to a previous broker’s listing for the boat, the Lovebug is an Italian boat built by Sanlorenzo in 2010 and updated in 2017. It sleeps 11 guests in five staterooms and can accommodate seven or eight crewmembers. It boasts zero speed stabilizers, a flybridge sundeck with Jacuzzi, tender/jet ski garage, and a full-beam master stateroom with a full bean master bath and owner’s office.

Chesapeake Bay Magazine will continue to monitor progress in the yacht’s salvage.
