Review of bianca 27
Basic specs.
The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all.
The interior is like many other boats made of mahogany. Mahogany belongs to the hardwood species, known for being water-repellent and resistant to decay. It has an attractive wood grain and holds wood polish and varnish well. The boat is equipped with 4 berths, a galley, 60.0 liter fresh water capacity and toilet facility.
The boat equipped with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.
The bianca 27 has been built with different keel alternatives.
One option is a long keel. A full keel provide a better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel; on the other hand, better directional stability means also that the boat is more difficult to handle in a harbour with less space.
The keel is made of iron. Many people prefer lead keel in favour of iron. The main argument is that lead is much heavier than iron and a lead keel can therefore be made smaller which again result in less wet surface, i.e. less drag. In fact iron is quite heavy, just 30% less heavy than lead, so the advantage of a lead keel is often overstated. As the surface of a fin type keel is just a fraction of the total wet surface, the difference between an iron keel and a lead keel can in reality be ignored for cruising yachts.

Another option is a fin keel. A boat with a fin keel is more manoeuvrable but has less directional stability than a similar boat with a full keel.

The Bianca name was originally born in 1964 by Holger Leth Christensen, who's Boatyard in Rudkoebing Denmark, built boats of wood, primarily the Mahogany sailing yacht "Peti". Here started the building of the first Fiberglas boat, the legendary Bianca 27. The Bianca family has grown a lot since those days, with so different boat-types as the Bianca Queen Motorsailer, the Bianca 23" motorboat followed by a long line of sailing yachts, such as the Commander 31", Sagitta 35", Bianca 28" Bianca 36" (Little Swan) Bianca 101 Aphrodite, Bianca Riviera, Bianca 414, Bianca 111, Bianca Lido, Bianca 320, Bianca 420, Bianca 107, Bianca 520, Bianca 360 and the Bianca 431. The Bianca Boatyard has lived a very turbulent life with various owners, so when the last owners closed in 1994, the son of the Bianca founder succeeded in purchasing the Bianca name and rights, so you can say that Bianca has returned to the family again. Bianca Yacht by Andres Leth Christensen, in Rudkoebing Denmark is a high quality repair yard, and a yacht brokerage.

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio
