Cecil Wright lists Heesen superyacht Sirocco for sale

Chris Cecil-Wright at Cecil Wright & Partners tells me he's signed the 47m Heesen motor yacht Sirocco for sale.

An all-aluminium tri deck yacht, Sirocco was built by the Dutch yard in 2006 to ABS class and was designed by Omega Architects. Her interior is designed around an African theme with Makassar wood, leather and natural stone elements. Sirocco sleeps 12 guests in six staterooms, a master, two VIPs a double and two twin cabins. Unusually, the master suite is on the wheelhouse deck with direct access to a massive party area and has 180-degree views through the large windows astern.

Below deck there are two identical VIP staterooms with queen size beds and double baths. There is a further double stateroom and a twin cabin continues the African theme with walls lined in bamboo. All staterooms are en suite and have entertainment systems. On the sun deck, there are comfortable loungers, a gymnasium, icemaker, sunpads and a Jacuzzi. Twin 3,700hp engines give her a cruising speed of 22 knots and a range of 3,400 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Lying in the South of France Sirocco is asking €21.5 million.

Sirocco Yacht: Everything You Want To Know

Ian Fortey

Usually a yacht gets famous because the owner is famous and in those cases it’s typically a celebrity or maybe a well-known billionaire. That’s why we know about Amazon founder Jeff Bezo’s yacht or former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal . But there are occasions when luxury yachts become well known for other reasons and that’s the case with the yacht called Sirocco. This one got famous on the reality show Below Deck, much like My Seanna , and has been seen by countless people on television for years as a result.

Let’s take a look at the ins and outs of the Sirocco, including what it would cost you to get on board for a week.

Who Owns the Sirocco Yacht?

Sirocco was launched in 2006 and built by Heesen. In 2013 the yacht was sold by former owners, the brokerage Cecil Wright and Partners. At that time it had an asking price of €21.5 million. The rumor is that a European millionaire ended up purchasing the yacht and kept it in waters around Europe thereafter, which does jibe with the vessel’s appearance on Below Deck.

Initially, Sirocco was seen in the waters around Croatia and then it appeared on Below Deck later in Mediterranean waters. It received upgrading in 2013 and the most recent refit on record was in 2015.

Who Is the Captain of the Sirocco Yacht?

On the second season of the show Below Deck Mediterranean, Sandy Yawn was the captain of the Sirocco. She returned for season 4 on the Sirocco as well, back in 2019.

How Much Did the Sirocco Yacht Cost?

superyacht sirocco owner

As we said, the asking price for the Sirocco in 2013, when the yacht was 7 years old, was reported to be €21.5 million. That works out to about $23.3 million today. That said, the Sirocco is a decade older these days and the current price has been estimated to be around $20 million. However, the yacht has not been listed for sale anywhere in specific as it still seems to be making the owners money as a charter vessel, in part because of its fame from the Below Deck series. For that reason, the Sirocco yacht price is just an estimate based on similar yachts.

Is the Sirocco Available for Yacht Charters? What Does it Cost Per Week?

superyacht sirocco owner

Currently, you can charter the Sirocco for about $196,000 US per week. That price is consistent regardless of season so there’s no better time of year to try to secure it. That said, because of its high profile the availability of the Sirocco for yacht charter may be limited, part of the reason there’s no seasonal discount on pricing as there is with many other yachts.

How Big is the Sirocco Yacht?

Sirocco falls firmly in the realm of being a superyacht and measures in at a stunning 154 feet in length and features three decks. The beam is 28 feet and some features, such as the master suite, are full beam spaces.

How Fast is the Sirocco Yacht?

superyacht sirocco owner

Powered by a pair of MTU engines, the Sirocco has a top speed of 22 knots with a cruising speed of 12 knots. It also features an advanced stabilization system which allows for less movement on deck, part of the reason it was such an ideal choice for the Below Deck show to film.

What’s the Luxury Motor Yacht Sirocco Interior Like?

superyacht sirocco owner

As large as it is, the Sirocco is built to handle 12 guests plus an additional 9 crew members. The interior was designed by a company called Omega Architects with the specific goal of making something incredibly luxurious and extravagant. This is a charter yacht featured on a TV show, after all.

Accommodations are spread across one master suite with a king bed, a VIP cabin with a queen bed, two double cabins that also have queens and then two twin cabins. The master suite, located on the upper deck, even features a marble tub with mosaic tiles and a private terrace for 180 degree viewing of the ocean undisturbed.

The on board amenities are the sorts of things you’d expect on a luxury superyacht that make it seem more like a resort on the water than simply a boat. Guests can relax in the on-deck jacuzzi tub or get in a workout in a fully professional and well-equipped on-board gym.

superyacht sirocco owner

For more relaxation there’s an on board movie theater as well as a spacious al fresco dining area. There’s a sun pad on deck for those who really want to relax and just lay out to get a tan. The top deck is an ideal space that can be used for parties and also buffet style meals.

Interior design elements are meant to bring about an Asian and, in particular, Indonesian feeling. Wood and leather accents can be found throughout in neutral and natural tones. Other elements that are frequently found throughout include glass, as a number of glass table tops are scattered across the vessel and marble as well, including a marble bar top. Finally, there are gold accents through as well, such as in the his and hers sinks in the master ensuite bathroom.

superyacht sirocco owner

In terms of toys and extras, the Sirocco delivers in full. Those on board have access first to a 20 foot, 60 hp Castoldi tender boat as well as a smaller 18 foot tender and a 13 foot Zodiac rescue boat.

Other toys on board include a SeaDoo Waverunner, jet ski, sea kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards, wakeboards, water skis, towable tubes and inflatables, a giant slide, various other floating mats and tubes, seabobs, flyjet board, and more. There’s also equipment for snorkeling as well as scuba diving which includes a Bauer dive compressor.

The entertainment facilities include things like high speed wi-fi throughout, along with upgraded 4G communications, ample televisions, stereo surround sound in the cabins and more. Beach games, board games and even things like a minisub can be requested and added onto charter rates.

Crew can vary depending on charter but past crew has had room for an on board masseuse as well as Michelin-starred chefs.

The Bottom Line

The Sirocco yacht has been featured on the TV show Below Deck in two different Mediterranean seasons. At 154 feet, it’s a superyacht and though it was built in 2006, it has been refit and upgraded to keep it modern and luxurious.

The initial price of the yacht was thought to be somewhere around $20 million. These days it’s available as a charter for about $196,000 US per week. It features numerous amenities and room for 12 guests.

Two Billionaire Mega Yachts Just Collided Off The Coast Of Italy

Two of the world’s most famous luxury yachts owned by a pair of the richest people in the world collided in a fender-bender accident while anchored off the coast of Naples, Italy this week.

Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego's luxury yacht, Lady Moura, on July 5, 2023 .

Mexican retail and broadcasting billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego took to Instagram Wednesday to share a video of a sleek boat drifting toward his mega yacht Lady Moura as crew members blast the horn, scream and shout in a bid to get the crew’s attention.

The oncoming vessel, Salinas said, was the Venus luxury yacht famously built for Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and now owned by his widow, Laurene Powell Jobs.

The video shows Venus bounce off the side of the Lady Moura without breaching the ship’s hull before it drifts away backwards.

Salinas posted there was no major damage but that his ship was left with “a big scratch that’s going to be a lot to fix.”

He then told his followers to buy Apple products through his Group Elektra retail chain to help Powell Jobs pay for the damage.

Neither billionaire owner was on board the ship at the time of the crash, according to Dagens news of Media Group Denmark.

Crucial Quote

“I would like to know what the captain and crew were doing that they didn’t see a yacht the size of mine,” Salinas said on Instagram. “You see that there are no shortage of idiots in the world.”

Key Background

Construction began on Venus , Jobs' $120 million yacht , in 2009 and was completed three years later. The boat was designed by French industrial designer and architect Philippe Starck and was created to look like an Apple product with sleek lines and 15 tons of glass walls. Jobs himself never boarded the 78.2-meter vessel—he died before it was completed. Lady Moura has been renowned as one of the world’s most lavish yachts since it was launched in 1990. The vessel is almost 105 meters long and can accommodate 27 guests and 72 crew members.

Forbes Valuation

Powell Jobs was ranked as the 126th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $14.4 billion as of Thursday. She inherited much of her fortune from her late husband, Jobs, who died in 2011. She is the founder of two philanthropy organizations, the Emerson Collective and the Waverley Street Foundation, and has committed to giving billions of dollars to charitable organizations. Salinas is the heir to the publicly-traded Grupo Elektra, which was founded by his grandfather in the 1950s. He now runs the financial and retail corporation and TV Azteca, the No. 2 Mexican TV broadcaster. As of Thursday, he was ranked as the 221st richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $10 billion.

Steve Jobs' former yacht Venus collided with another superyacht off the coast of Naples

  • Venus, the yacht built for Steve Jobs , collided with another yacht off Italy's coast.
  • It's unclear which yacht struck which or when exactly the crash occurred.
  • With a minimalist design, Venus is one of the world's most iconic superyachts.

Insider Today

Venus, Steve Jobs' former superyacht — now owned by his wife, the philanthropist and investor Laurene Powell Jobs — has collided with another superyacht off of the Italian coast.

A spokesperson from Powell Jobs' Emerson Collective who spoke with a crewmember confirmed to Business Insider that Venus, the 78-meter yacht Steve Jobs commissioned, had collided with Lady Moura, a 105-meter yacht. The collision happened on July 22 off the coast of Naples, Italy.

The spokesperson said that only crew were onboard the yacht and that both boats were anchored when a sudden change of wind led to the collision.

Venus is cruising in the Ligurian Sea, while Lady Moura made its way to Mykonos on Wednesday, based on publicly available tracking data from Marine Traffic.

Videos posted on social media show the strikingly minimalist Venus and the Lady Moura coming into contact. It's not clear from the videos which superyacht struck which, though someone who said they were aboard the Lady Moura seemed to blame Venus' crew on social media, SuperYacht Times reported. The person said the damage was "only a scratch, albeit a significant one that will be costly to repair."

Others on social media said that the Venus appeared to be moored and that Lady Moura seemed to have swung into the boat. BI hasn't been able to independently verify either claim.

Related stories

The Italian Marina Militare didn't respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. The owner of the Lady Moura couldn't be reached.

No matter how little damage may have been done, insurance will probably cover it. Yacht insurance , which can cost six figures each month, is one of the largest costs incurred by yacht owners.

Venus, built by the top yacht-builder Feadship, was delivered after Jobs died in 2011 and was worth $130 million upon completion. The Apple cofounder was heavily involved in the design process alongside the French architect and decorator Philippe Starck.

"Venus comes from the philosophy of minimum," Starck said of her design. "The elegance of the minimum, approaching dematerialization."

Jobs and Starck spent four years working on her design, the designer told Vanity Fair , holding monthly meetings to discuss her specifications. She has six identical cabins, was built to maximize absolute silence, and, upon delivery, included the most up-to-date technology.

"There will never again be a boat of that quality again. Because never again will two madmen come together to accomplish such a task," Starck told the magazine. "It was not a yacht that Steve and I were constructing, we were embarked on a philosophical action, implemented according to a quasi-religious process. We formed a single brain with four lobes." August 7, 2024 — This story has been updated with a statement from a Laurene Powell Jobs spokesperson.

Sitting at the base of the Adirondack Mountains, in New York State’s Keene Valley, The Mountaineer has been equipping hikers, ice climbers, anglers, backcountry skiers and adventure enthusiasts since 1975. It was opened by two families from Greenwich, Connecticut, in search of a more intrepid life, and today the attitude remains: “We respect our role as the last point of contact before people head off into the wilderness,” says current custodian Charlie Wise.

Keene Valley, New York State

Time outdoors is so essential to our happiness Charlie Wise of The Mountaineer

Designed by co-founder Sid Miller with locally sourced hemlock and spruce, the store is “all bold lines and angles, with steep pitched roofs that can handle the snow load”, says Wise, who took over the store in 2018, having been a long-term customer. Inside, a woodburning stove sets the scene for a buffet of international outerwear – from Patagonia’s reclaimed fleece zip-ups ($169) to Positron Pro Down jackets by UK maker Rab ($430) and base layers by Norway’s Norrøna (tights, $149). “We love brands that have a sustainable philosophy or component, as well as great design and technical chops,” says Wise. Technical kit includes Black Diamond’s ultra-lightweight Vapor helmet ($139.95) in energetic shades of Blizzard and Octane and footwear that promises to be fit for Everest: the G2 Evo boot ($999).

Construction of the original shop in 1976

Wise describes the shop as a two-storey “candy store for gearheads”, containing more than 10,000 different items. He especially prides himself on the knowledge of his staff, “all of whom are experts in a particular discipline”, he says. “Our trail-shoe expert led a group up Denali [North America’s highest peak] this summer, and our ski guy is a Dynafit expert who knows the best backcountry boots.” Staff recently outfitted a long-standing client for an Everest expedition, supplying the complete layering and insulation system, crampons, axes and boots. The only condition? “That a summit photo be taken with The Mountaineer bandana,” says Wise. The photo now hangs on the wall.

The Mountaineer High Peaks mountain patches, $6.50

The store also serves as a community hub, hosting clinics run by local guides on topics such as wilderness first aid, ice climbing and avalanche awareness. Annual events including Adirondack International Mountainfest and the Great Adirondack Trail Run benefit local non-profits and charities.

One of many customer letters and photos from around the world – “proudly displaying The Mountaineer bandana”

“I like to say we catch people at a good time when they are in a good headspace, ready to get into something,” says Wise. “We want to amplify that excitement. Time outdoors is so essential to our happiness.” The hundreds of customer photographs – spanning the peaks of India to the pistes of France – prove they do just that.
