Walk the waterfront and see St Stephen's Church, a beautiful 17th Century shrine in the town's main square.

This quiet island offers picturesque walks around the bay along with a small hotel and marina to explore. For the more active, hike to the hidden village of Zaklopatica for a spectacular view of the medieval enclave.

Spend a night in the charming dusty fishing village of Polace. Take a minibus to the breathtaking Holm Oak and Aleppo Pine forests of the Mljet National Park. The minibus drops off hikers at an inland salt-water lake, to embark small vessels to a sacred island where Benedictine Monks built a monastery in 12th century AD.

Moor at ACI Dubrovnik Marina, and take the short bus ride to explore one of the most historic and beautiful of all European cities. Learn about the old city of Dubrovnik's rich history and architectural wonders by renting a headset and walking the fortified city walls on a 2-3 hour tour.

Walk along the promenade for a cool afternoon swim or explore the 11th century church of St Peter. Dine in style on the waterfront terrace of konoba Kod Marka metres from the moored yachts.

Korcula, the home of Marco Polo, is a gem for historians as there are many remarkable museums, sites and architecture. Enter the old town through the fortified Land Gate entrance and explore the 13th century St Mark's Cathedral, complete with the spectacular sculpted Gothic doorway, spiral columns, gargoyles and the figure of St Mark.

Zlatni rat beach commonly known as Bol beach, on Brac Island, is a geological phenomenon - a stunning 1km peninsula of sand jutting out in the Hvarski Channel. Wander the beach and enjoy snorkeling off the tip.

Trogir is a medieval town founded on an ancient Greek settlement dating from 380 BC. The Romans came in 78 AD and in the Middle Ages it was occupied by Byzantine, Saracen, Hungarian and then Venetians. The rich history and unique architecture have made Trogir a UNESCO world heritage site.

Split Boarding Location

Split: kastela zenta trogir.

Split International airport, is only 23 km away from Split town. The Split airport is actually closer to Trogir town than Split town. Saturday is best spent visiting Split town or Trogir sites before taking a short taxi ride to the marina for boarding. If you arrive early at the marina on boarding day, bags can be left with the owner/operator but you will not officially be able to board until 17:00. Upon arrival at allocated marina, report to your yacht operator's office.

Airport to Split town: Taxis can be found lined up at the airport and take about 30 minutes to get to Split town It costs approximately 40 Euros one-way per taxi.

Airport to Split town or Trogir: Upon arrival at Split airport exit the building where shuttle buses are available for either Trogir or Split town. Split ACI Marina, Kastela Marina and Marina Zenta are a short taxi ride from Split town.

Dubrovnik Boarding Location

Dubrovnik: dubrovnik aci marina.

ACI Marina Dubrovnik lies near Komolac, about 2 km from the entrance to the port of Gruž and 6 km from the old city.

Taxis can be found lined up at the airport and take about 45 minutes to get to Dubrovnik ACI Marina town. It costs approximately 50 Euros one-way per taxi.

Airport to Old Town Dubrovnik: Upon arrival at Dubrovnik airport exit the building and the airport shuttle bus is parked alongside the building. Tickets are bought on the bus and the cost of the airport transfer is approximately 5 Euros. The shuttle stops at Pile Gate in front of Old Town Dubrovnik where you want to disembark. Old Town Dubrovnik to ACI Dubrovnik Marina: Just outside of Pile Gate you can purchase tickets for bus numbers 1A or 1B and get off at stop in Komolac (just after the INA gas pump).

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOAT

All of our boats –  Bavaria C38 ,  Bavaria 46 Cruiser 2024 , Bavaria 46 Cruiser 2023 , Lagoon 400S2 and Lagoon 40 – can be chartered with the crew consisting of a skipper and a hostess , but when planning crewed charter calculate that both the skipper and the hostess need a berth, ideally their own cabin.

The cost of the crewed yacht charter consists of the boat price and the crew’s fees, while for the mooring fees, fuel and meals (onboard & outboard), for both you and the crew, you pay on the way, depending on how much you spend.  The usual stipend for the crew dinner (unless they are going with you) is  40€/crew member.

How much does the skipper cost.

• the skipper’s daily rate is 180€  which amounts to 1.260€ per week 
• three meals  per day plus enough to  drink*
• a  place to sleep 

What are Skipper’s duties?

• to take care of your safety and at the same time ensure that you have an enjoyable holiday
• to safely skipper the yacht and bring it back in undamaged condition
• to advise on suitable destinations based on his local knowledge and prior experience, but to finally comply with your wishes, unless the weather forecast is in contradiction with those: the skipper cannot be responsible if in the long run predicted weather conditions do not materialize

How much does the Hostess cost?

• hostess’s daily rate is:  180€ which amounts 1.260 €/week 
• three meals  per day plus enough to  drink  
• a place to sleep , preferably a cabin

What are her duties?

• to buy groceries
• to prepare and serve two meals per day: breakfast and lunch  
• to wash the dishes, clean the kitchen, toilets, saloon and cockpit area (dinner, third meal, preparation if requested is charged additionally per person)
• to recommend places to visit, restaurants, nice bays for swimming, nightlife spots

If you want a hostess to babysit,  this needs to be agreed during the booking process, and it will mean reducing some other above specified duties. 

Tipping your crew

Tipping is a common practice in the hospitality industry in Croatia yet not obligatory. It is  customary though not obligatory to tip your crew in the end of your charter. The typical tip amounts 5-15% of the total charter cost . Your budget and satisfaction should guide your tipping decision. With its hot, sunny days and mild water temperatures, the summer months of July and August are the most popular months for yacht charters in Croatia. Average temperatures range from the mid-to-high 20s °C / 77-86°F, with the potential to get as high as the 30s °C / 80s or 90s°F. Hvar tends to get the most sun – a record 2,700 hours of sun each year – followed by Split, Korcula, and Dubrovnik.

Trogir, situated northwest of Split boasts beautiful Romanesque churches and Venetian-era Renaissance and Baroque constructions. Split's Diocletian's Palace is another UNESCO monument and a historical complex built in the 3rd and 4th centuries by Roman emperor Diocletian. Moving onto the island of Hvar, although unknown to many tourist, Stari Grad Plain is also on the UNESCO list. This is an ancient stone wall that divides the land into twenty-four plots of grapes and olives, which have been continuously used for the past 2400 years. The Old City of Dubrovnik is also popular with discerning yacht charter tourists, with its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries and palaces, as well as fabulous atmosphere, lovely cafes, bars and a vibrant nightlife. The seventh UNESCO Heritage site are the Plitvice Lakes, located inland Croatia.

Krka with its seven amazing waterfalls is another famous and popular national park in Croatia, which deserves a day-trip inland. In addition to the waterfalls, historical monuments such as the Franciscan monastery on the little island of Visovac and the Krka Orthodox monastery are also sought-after attractions for visitors. Renowned for peculiar karstic formations - Hajducki kukovi and Rozanski kukovi, the Northern Velebit National Park offers biggest selection of flora and fauna in Croatia. There is also a pothole Lukina Jama (Luka's pothole) or a lovely botanical garden to visit.

Northern Velebit National Park is a fantastic place for hiking and trekking, offering unparalleled views of the Kvarner islands from the trail. Plitvicka Jazera is perhaps the most famous Croatian National Park and only one of eight on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The park is made up of sixteen small lakes joined by waterfalls and surrounded by dense forests. Plitvicka Jazera (or Plitvice Lakes) is located inland Croatia and can be visited on a day-trip. You will come across a term called APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) when receiving an offer for a crewed yacht. The APA covers extra expenses that are not included in the yacht charter price:

• food and beverage provisioning for guests
• fuel costs for the engines, generator, motorized watersports program
• port and marina fees
• local transfers, any other private expenses

The APA usually amounts to about 30% of the contract value. All items are specified in an addendum attached to the charter contract, which provides a breakdown of the costs. The captain will produce final accounts in the broker's presence at the end of the charter. Any unused funds will be refunded in full to the charterer. If the funds are not sufficient, the captain will advise you accordingly. Bills will be settled upon disembarkation.

The unspent part of the charter APA is later returned to the guests or spent on marina fees and fuel during your week.

Our crew is all fluent in English and sometimes also multilingual. Together with our local skipper, they will make sure that your cruising adventure in Croatia is and indulging and a one-of a-kind experience.

Basic assignments of a hostess

• keeping all areas on yacht clean and tidy
• handling the provisioning throughout the trip (shopping for supplies, stocking boat lockers before and during your trip)
• she prepares and serves two light meals daily (breakfast and one simple lunch). Extra meals are option with an additional fee.
• washes the dishes, cleans the galley and salon

A Tip: We advise to transfer her some APA money (advanced provisioning allowance) so that she can supply your boat before arrival.

2. Hiring a Cook/Chef

The general assignment for cook on board is to prepare 3 meals a day , considering the client's preferences and what kind of food do they want. Usual fee for cook starts at  170€ per day . However, it can vary and mostly depends the boats size and number of the guests aboard.

How much does it cost to hire a hostess?

That depends on the level of the tasks, requests and how many guests are there to cater. Her basic fee is 130€ per day and can go up to 180€ . This fee does not include gratuity nor the meals for the crew; They can join you for meals or allow 30€ pocket money per crew member per day.

Where does a hostess sleep?

The front bow cabins on catamarans are usually occupied with the crew, that is why we recommend to charter sailing yacht with 2 separate crew cabins. Most of the sailing catamarans in Croatia have such a layout. Sometimes, the crew can also sleep in the salon, but it is not something we advise, since everyone needs time to rest, so they can give you their best during the day.

It is also customary to take care of the crew's meals on your sailing trip. Feel free to invite your crew to join you at the dinner, they will be more than happy. If you wish to dine in privacy, they can east separately.

A Tip: When you hire a hostess you already have 2 meals included. That gives you extra time to explore the islands where you can dine in a local restaurant your crew will be happy to recommend. Here you can taste Dalmatian delicacies in fisherma's tavern called "konoba" - a must try!

What should I bring on a yacht charter?

A Sample 8 Day / 7 Night Itinerary:  Day 1: Explore the medieval walled city at Trogir which features architecture from the 13th century and don’t miss the 3rd-century bas-relief of Kairos within the Benedictine Monastery of St Nicholas. Head to the port village of Maslinica on the Island Šolta, which overlooks an archipelago of seven islets. Day 2: Sail to the old fishing port of Komiža on the island Vis. Discover the pebble beaches, relax and perhaps visit the blue caves on Bisevo Island. Get to know the local delicacies in the evening and eat at local restaurants. Day 3: Walk around Vis town and its 16th-century villas. The island has a lush landscape that is brimming with vineyards. If you want to explore underwater, Vis is a popular scuba diving spot with plentiful marine life. Day 4: Sail to Hvar, an island full of beautiful lavender and herbs, as well as a reputation for being rather upmarket. Walk around Hvar Town’s harbor, the piazza, the huge fortress that dominates the skyline and St Stephen’s Cathedral to get a great view from the bell tower. Day 5: Sail around to the north of Hvar to Vrboska, a 15th-century village near UNESCO-protected Stari Grad Plain. Marvel at the patchwork of paths and walls that cross the agricultural flats. Day 6: Set sail for the island of Brac and Milna on its west coast. You’ll find a wonderful harbor, known as the bay of a thousand ships, where you can enjoy fantastic local food and wine. Day 7: Head back to Trogir to disembark. ​ Trogir, Split and Dubrovnik are incredible cities, all UNESCO sites. We highly recommend spending an extra couple of days at least in each one just to explore them. It is well worth it. They are towns with incredible histories, culture and architecture.
