Inside £10m yacht linked to Michelle Mone as luxury vessel is put up for sale
Michelle Mone and her billionaire husband Doug Barrowman face a National Crime Agency investigation

A yacht linked to Scots underwear tycoon and Tory peer Michelle Mone has been put up for sale for £10.25 million.
The sale of Lady M is listed months after a multi-million-pound refit to the 130ft vessel, which Glasgow-born Mone, 50, regularly features on her social media pages.
The boat, which was refurbished in May, features a deluxe cream-coloured interior and four cabins as well as room for six crew.

It comes as Mone and her billionaire husband Doug Barrowman face a National Crime Agency investigation after the peer recommended PPE Medpro during the pandemic, a firm with connections to her husband - with the pair denying any wrongdoing.
The House of Lords commissioner for standards launched into Baroness Mone in January following a complaint by the Labour peer George Foulkes.
The group was awarded two contracts worth £200 million to supply surgical gowns and other items during the pandemic in 2020 which proved useless after the goods failed an inspection. The Department for Health is in dispute with PPE Medpro over millions of surgical gowns which it bought for £122m in 2020.
Once it became public last year that she had referred PPE Medpro to the Cabinet Office using the "VIP lane", Baroness Mone admitted she made the “very simple, solitary and brief step” but insisted “did not do anything further in respect of PPE Medpro”.
But in leaked Whatsapp messages Mone was allegedly asked what size of gowns were required under the Department of Health deal and replied: “We are just about to take off in the jet. The sizes are in the order. We are waiting for the official PO [purchase order], this should come in today.”
Mone’s lawyers said she could not be expected to comment on “unknown and unattributable WhatsApp messages allegedly sent 19 months ago”.
Sources told the Guardian newspaper that Barrowman, an offshore entreprenuer on the Isle of Man, was "part of the financial consortium that backed" PPE Medpro. But his lawyers said the allegations were “largely incorrect”.
Four properties linked to the firm, including a £25 million Isle of Man bolt hole were raided by the NCA in April. No arrests were made during simultaneous raids in London and the Isle of Man but officers seized documents and electronic devices.
The yacht is also said to have links to PPE Medpro as it is owned by a firm registered on the Isle of Man called L M Yachts, whose director is Anthony Page. Mr Page works for Knox House Trust, part of Mr Barrowman’s Isle of Man-based Knox Group which also owns PPE Medpro, reports the Daily Mail.
In March, AML Tax (UK) Ltd, also part of Knox Group, was fined £150,000 for withholding records needed to calculate tax bills.
The Charity Commission recently opened a compliance case into the Barrowman Foundation.
Set up by Mr Barrowman in 2017 – with his wife as a trustee – it donates to the Prince’s Trust, but has not lodged any donations in its accounts.

40m yacht re-named ‘Pandemic Profiteer’
Sailing yacht ‘lady m’ has been branded with the name 'pandemic profiteer’….
Image credit: Led By Donkeys (Twitter)
Michaelle Mone’s 40m sailing yacht ‘Lady M’ has been renamed "Pandemic Profiteer” by activists. Michelle Mone is a Scottish entrepreneur and Baroness who is known for founding the lingerie brand Ultimo. Her public relations have been the subject of criticism and controversy at various points throughout her career, for a variety of reasons. Some of the issues that have contributed to her negative public image include accusations of poor business practices, conflicts with business partners, and controversial statements and actions in the public eye.
A global pandemic is a time of widespread hardship, with many people struggling to make ends meet. Profiting from such a situation can be perceived as exploiting others' suffering for one's own financial gain.
We've found Michelle Mone's yacht pic.twitter.com/Eflhc7fpOG — Led By Donkeys (@ByDonkeys) February 1, 2023
Furthermore, profiting during a pandemic can (understandably) be seen as a moral failure. A global pandemic calls for collective action, with individuals and organisations being called upon to do their part to help others. Those who profit during a pandemic may be viewed as putting their own interests ahead of the greater good, and as failing to do their part in the collective effort to overcome the crisis.
It is becoming increasingly obvious that those who are in positions of power and influence have a responsibility to use their resources to help others, rather than to enrich themselves. When they profit during a pandemic, they may be seen as failing to live up to this responsibility.
This event could very well be brushed aside and declared an isolated incident, however, one could argue that it would also be foolish to assume that this will be the last public protest against the superyacht industry. The truth of the matter is that for many people outside of the industry these superyachts symbolise a faction of society that would rather parade their wealth than put it to good use.

Under-pressure peer Michelle Mone and her billionaire husband Doug Barrowman are desperately trying to sell off £80m worth of luxury houses, private jet and superyacht. Baroness Mone has had her bank accounts frozen during a two-year National Crime Agency police investigation.
PPE Medpro, which they are closely linked to, is fighting a £133m High Court claim from the Department for Health over gowns rejected by the Government. The Mirror reports that the couple have slashed the price of some of their prized assets, owned through a string of offshore companies.
As well as the yacht – named Lady M – there is a £7.5m Cessna Citation CJ4 private jet and a £41m six-bedroom luxury villa on the elite Caribbean holiday island of St Barts. Mr Barrowman’s spokesman attacked the “media’s ridiculous obsession with every tiny detail of Michelle and Doug’s personal life”.
The Cessna, which was bought new in early 2021, has been listed for sale by a US plane broker. It is registered to an Isle of Man-based company called Cabbane Limited, which listed Anthony Page as a director. Mr Page was a director of PPE Medpro, while Mr Barrowman is the sole shareholder of Cabbane.
His St Barts villa, rented out to A-listers including Jay Z and Beyonce for £16,000 a night, has been on sale since 2021. But the price has been slashed from £63m to £41m, with new agents describing it as a “remarkable property perched atop Saint Jean, a few steps away from the beach”.
Mr Page said in 2021 Mr Barrowman was looking to sell Villa Neo because he prefers spending time on his luxury yacht, which itself has been on sale for more than a year. The vessel became infamous when Baroness Mone posted a picture of herself on deck in the Mediterranean in August 2021 with the caption: “Business isn’t easy. But it is rewarding.”
It is owned through an Isle of Man company called LM Yachts Ltd, run by former PPE Medpro director Voirrey Coole. The price has plunged from nearly £10m to less than £7m. The couple’s lavish London townhouse was sold off last year for £19m. The Mirror also understands their £7m villa in the Algarve, Portugal, has been sold.
A spokesman for Mr Barrowman said: “The media’s ridiculous obsession with every tiny detail of Michelle and Doug’s personal life continues to reach desperate levels. They have both been very successful in business for decades, so if the Daily Mirror plans to write about every asset that they own, might be buying or could be selling, its journalists would writing for a very long time. This is a futile attempt to distract from Doug Barrowman’s robust fightback against the PPE Medpro allegations over the last few weeks.”
Last month, PPE Medpro funded a 70-minute documentary released on YouTube and the couple appeared on Laura Kuenssberg’s BBC politics show. On New Year’s Day, Mr Barrowman issued a statement complaining that he and his wife had been made “scapegoats”.
Underwear tycoon Baroness Mone admitted she “regrets” lying when the Mirror revealed her links to PPE Medpro in 2020. The firm won more than £200m in Government contracts during Covid.

A luxury yacht linked to Michelle Mone has been 'renamed' by political activists over a PPE controversy.
The 51-year-old underwear tycoon is at the centre of controversy over her alleged links to PPE Medpro - a firm awarded a PPE contract. She has denied any accusations of wrongdoing.
The 130ft Lady M yacht, which is worth £10million, is believed to be docked at Vilanova Grand Marina near Barcelona.
The campaign group Led by Donkeys are understood to have found the swanky vessel and plastered ‘Pandemic Profiteer’ on the side of it.
In the footage shared on social media earlier, activists in a dinghy can be seen brandishing the name across the yacht while the Titanic theme song plays in the background and dramatic drone shots flash across the screen.
A narrator says: “The government says it can’t afford to pay nurses and other workers a fair wage. But there was enough money to dish out PPE contracts to Tory cronies.
“We all paid for this yacht. And that’s why we’ve renamed it.”
Mone had recommended the company PPE Medpro to the UK Government during the covid pandemic, who went on to award the firm a £200million contract in May 2020 to produce medical gowns.
These were later alleged to not have been of "correct quality standards and specification".
The entrepreneur was accused of having profited from the lucrative deals, but "completely refuted" allegations of wrongdoing on her part or that of her husband Douglas Barrowman, who was allegedly linked to PPE Medpro.
Mone previously addressed the storm, stating: “I was asked to help at a time of national emergency. I declared all necessary interests and have done nothing wrong."

Tory peer Michelle Mone launches £80m fire sale of luxury villa, superyacht and private jet amid PPE scandal
3 January 2024, 14:24 | Updated: 3 January 2024, 15:59
By Christian Oliver
Tory peer Michelle Mone and billionaire husband Doug Barrowman have launched an £80m fire sale of their assets, including a luxury Caribbean villa, superyacht, and private jet amid their involvement in the ongoing PPE scandal.
Listen to this article
Baroness Mone, 52, previously revealed her bank accounts were frozen following a two-year investigation by the National Crime Agency into allegations of fraud and bribery.
The allegations surround PPE Medpro - a company that the couple is close to - which was awarded more than £200m to supply the government with protective medical equipment amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company is currently being sued by the Department for Health for £133m over claims surgical gowns it supplied were inadequate.
The lingerie tycoon had previously distanced herself from PPE Medpro but since admitted she lied when denying her links with the company.
The couple has now put several of their assets up for sale which they own through a string of off-shore companies, The Mirror reported. The couple is set to lose £29m if they sell the assets at their current listing price.
The assets include a yacht - named Lady M - which became infamous when Mone posted a picture of herself in a bathing suit on the vessel in the Mediterranean with the caption: "Business isn’t easy. But it is rewarding.”

After its price was slashed by £3m, the luxury vessel is now on sale for £7m. The yacht is owned by off-shore Isle of Mann company LM Yachts Ltd, which is run by former PPE Medpro director Voirrey Coole.
Also for sale at a cut price is a £41m six-bedroom luxury villa on the picturesque island of St Barts in the Caribbean.
The 17,000 sq ft six-bedroom mansion, which Barrowman built in 2018 is claimed to be one of the biggest on the Caribbean island. It has reportedly played host to the rich and famous including Jay Z and Beyoncé.
It has been on sale since 2021 - originally listed at £63m but now cut down to £41m.
The Mirror also reported that the couple's £19m London townhouse was sold last year, as well as their £7m Algarve, Portugal, villa.
The 'Baroness Bra' and husband Barrowman also have a £7.5million Cessna Citation CJ4 private jet listed for sale.
It is listed as owned by the Isle of Man company Cabbane Limited, which is wholly owned by Barrowman and is run by director Anthony Page - also director of PPE Medpro. The aircraft has been listed for sale by an American plane broker, The Mirror reported.
In response to The Mirror's report, a spokesperson for Mr Barrowman said: “The media’s ridiculous obsession with every tiny detail of Michelle and Doug’s personal life continues to reach desperate levels.
"They have both been very successful in business for decades, so if the Daily Mirror plans to write about every asset that they own, might be buying or could be selling, its journalists would writing for a very long time.
"This is a futile attempt to distract from Doug Barrowman’s robust fightback against the PPE Medpro allegations over the last few weeks.”
It comes after Barrownman claimed his family had been "treated as a punchbag" for the "lamentable failures" by ministers when procuring personal protective equipment (PPE) during the pandemic.
In a statement published by Lady Mone on X, formerly Twitter, on New Year's Day, Barrowman said it "suits the agenda" of the UK Government to "scapegoat" him and his wife for their part in supplying items designed to protect against coronavirus infection through the firm PPE Medpro.
Lady Mone has admitted she lied when she denied having connections to the company, a consortium led by her husband, which was awarded contracts worth more than £200 million to supply gowns and face masks.
The lingerie entrepreneur stands to benefit from its £60 million in profits that have been placed into a trust by her husband.
Mr Barrowman said he and his family have been "treated as a punchbag by the media for the past three years" and have "received death threats and a constant torrent of online and other abuse" as a result of the row.
In his statement of more than 1,000 words published on Monday, Mr Barrowman looked to turn the debate on to what he said were failures by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) during its PPE procurement.
"Michelle and I are being hung out to dry to distract attention from Government incompetence in how it handled PPE procurement at time of national emergency," Mr Barowman said.
"Medpro supplied the Govt with 1.5% of PPE spend (£202 million) against a total of £13.1 billion and yet the media or Government refuses to focus on the other 98.5% of PPE supplied; much of which was defective or never used and/or supplied in identical circumstances to the Medpro contracts."
He branded it "simply unacceptable" that the UK Covid-19 Inquiry is not scheduled to review pandemic PPE procurement until 2025 - after a general election expected to take place this year.
