SECRETS OF PUTIN’S YACHT OLYMPIA

What kind of associations pop up in your head when you mention the word “yacht” in everyday life? Of course, you’ll think first about vacation, sea, ocean, sail, romance, summer, luxury, glamor, money etc. Each of the associations is correct in its own way. If we consider yachts and sea tourism, then we can safely dispel the myth about their high prices and availability - only to the “richest of this world”. Luckily in the modern world, a yacht rental is an actively developing type of recreation that is available nearly to any class of the human population.

If you consider yachts from the side of buying and owning a vessel, then it is undoubtedly very expensive and prestigious. The owners of VIP superyachts are representatives of the richest and most influential people in the world. The price of such yachts is always high, and the maintenance of the vessel sometimes costs an amount approaching 10% of the value of the yacht. Therefore, not everyone can afford to own a yacht.

Sochi seaport is the most modern and largest port on the Black Sea coast. There you can see yachts of various sizes, types, cost, design and etc. All-year-round. Some of the ships attract the special attention of vacationers mostly with their appearance. Like the luxury mega yacht, Olympia. According to some reports, Olympia is at the disposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin, but there is no officially confirmed data yet. According to the law, information about the president's yacht fleet cannot be disclosed, but it leaked from time to time in media.

Putin's yacht is one of the most luxurious yachts in Russia. It is not a surprising, because the head of state (which is also considered a maritime power) often has to conduct business negotiations with important people and representatives of other countries at sea, and this requires a luxury yacht. Olympia is a 57-meter mega yacht, produced by the Dutch shipyard Feadship, which was built in 2002. The estimated cost of Mr. Putin's yacht is $ 50 million.

  Olympia has a very unusual appearance and original design. The Dutch company "De Voogt Naval Architects" worked hard on its creation. The yacht's interior was beautifully designed by Mark Hampton.

The vessel can accommodate 10 guests, as well as 16 crew members. Yachts of this class have at least 10 cabins, each of which is designed for several guests. The presidential cabin is located on a separate deck and is equipped at the highest level. The bathtub in the presidential cabin is made of pink marble and is 1/3 the width of the ship. All cabins are equipped with the latest generation appliances and furniture (for example, in cabins there are beds, which do not change their horizontal position (even with any bigger swing of the hull). The interior of the yacht has elements of gilding and everything is fabricated of expensive materials.

Putin's yacht is made of high-strength steel and the decks are covered with first class teak. One of the decks is equipped with a Jacuzzi and a bar. Experts estimate the interior of the Olympia with millions of dollars despite the simple fact that it is impossible to announce the exact number because whole information about the owner of the yacht and its equipment remains still a state secret to the public.

Olympia is not for rent! This fact is easily explained by the official statement that the yacht is a presidential property. Even if you want to rent a yacht hypothetically, the rent would start somewhere from 250 thousand dollars a week. Such rental price is unreasonably high and you can organize a vacation on a yacht easily for a much lower amount.

Well thought out floor plan with galley up and settee next to the lower helm, everyone in can be comfortable in the same space. The operator is not isolated from the rest of the party. 2 very comfortable staterooms both with ensuite heads and separate stall showers. Spacious interior salon and exterior seating.  

-Virtually new, 2021 Apex 11' Eurosport tender with 20 H.P. outboard. These tenders are purposely designed to be light and easy to hoist.  They plane easily and are very comfortable for both the operator and passengers. 

-Starlink- If you have not had the pleasure of using Starlink while cruising, you are in for a treat! Lightning fast internet from where ever you might find yourself.  Easily work from the boat, or stream movies.

• Russian President Vladimir Putin spent $32 million refitting a superyacht, a new report suggests.
• The yacht, called Graceful, was renovated while Russian soldiers were fighting in Ukraine.
• Photos of the vessel were shared by an investigation from dissident Alexei Navalny's team.

While his troops flooded into Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin was spending millions of dollars on an opulent refit of one of his superyachts, according to an investigation from opposition leader Alexei Navalny's team.

The imprisoned anti-corruption campaigner's team released plans for the yacht called Graceful and said to belong to Russian President Vladimir Putin, that show a helipad, a sauna, an indoor swimming pool that can convert into a dancefloor, and an elaborate dining room with seating for 12 people.

Photos of the lavishly decorated interior also show marble bathrooms, champagne-colored carpets that cost as much as $88,000, and lavish bedrooms containing beds worth around $34,000.

The investigation also shared pictures of an elegant bookcase that it said contained a photo album of Saint Petersburg, a Russian-German dictionary, and a book about former Russian Prime Minister Pyotr Stolypin, assassinated in Ukraine in 1911.

The total cost of the works came to $32 million, according to the investigation.

"Half of the country is forced to raise money for underwear and socks for mobilized soldiers and to make trench candles, while the person who unleashed this war spends three billion roubles just on repairs and purchases for his yacht," the report says.

The 269-foot yacht, which left Hamburg, Germany , just before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, is worth around $100 million.

The Navalny team also published an email from January 2022 to the managers of the Blohm & Voss shipyard, which says that the "owner of Graceful is not happy with refit execution."

"They are dissatisfied with delays in construction schedule," it continues, before adding that the "owners wish to remove Graceful on 01 of February to Russian Federation to complete refit."

The message also mentions concerns about potential delays caused by rising COVID-19 cases and asks the shipbuilders to "accelerate all works which may interfere with Graceful sailing out on 01 February."

The ship was finally seen departing Hamburg on February 7 as it made its way to Kaliningrad, Russia.

The vessel has been under investigation by the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control since last year.

"OFAC is identifying Russia-flagged Graceful and Cayman Islands-flagged Olympia, as blocked property in which President Vladimir Putin has an interest," the US Treasury website said in a June 2022 press release.

"While the leader of Russia, Putin has taken numerous trips on these yachts, including a 2021 trip in the Black Sea where he was joined by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, the OFAC-designated corrupt ruler of Belarus, who has supported Russia's war against Ukraine," it adds.

The Navalny team also highlighted a phone shown in one of the photographs of an office on the yacht in which a "Prestige-CB" telephone can be seen.

The report says that these phones, which have no buttons and are decorated with the Russian coat of arms, are used for "top secret" state communications and cannot be bought by the general public. It adds that Putin has the same phone in all of his offices.

The Russian president is reportedly also the owner of the 450-foot, $700 million Scheherazade , one of the largest yachts in the world. The superyacht was impounded in an Italian port last year due to its connections to the Russian government.

Putin is also thought to be the owner of a smaller, Cayman Islands-flagged yacht called Olympia, a gift from the billionaire Russian oligarch, Roman Abramovich.

MY Olympia has a luxurious 4.2-meter tender with a 40HP Suzuki engine that allows guests to visit the most exotic and isolated private beaches in complete safety, as well as exhilarating afternoons of water-skiing and wakeboarding. Her large fly-bridge provides stunning views of the surrounding scenery. Elegance, elegance, comfort, and a liking for the finer things in life are all there.

One of the best features of charter yacht Olympia is that she is equipped with two efficient 811ct Caterpillar engines and the latest Raymarine navigation systems. A premium Williams 385 turbojet tender provides for safe beaching and shallow water access, as well as access to the most exotic and isolated private beaches for up to 6 guests. Waterskiing or wakeboarding in the afternoons will also be available.

Her deck saloon, which is divided from the aft alfresco area by a glass door, features unique bulkhead steps that provide continuous views from stern to stem.

Olympia's sofa and Sony flat 46" screen pop-up LCD TV are on the other side of the eight-seat dining table, which is also up a step. A tunnel goes from there to the fly-bridge, which features beautiful non-scratch anthracite grey trim and a U-shape sofa with pop-out table for visitors who wish to observe the navigation procedure on both sides, above the main deck. Steel and teak may be found at the saloon's port.

Olympia's  famous Chefs and waiting staff can provide excellent catering, ranging from the freshest Andaman Sea seafood to precisely roasted carvings and aged cheeses, all complimented by great wines and champagnes.

Olympia-Siegerin Lara Vadlau kehrt heim: „Unsere Freude ist riesengroß“

Das Segel-Duo Lara Vadlau und Lukas Mäh r holten für Österreich bei den Olympischen Spielen 2024 in Paris Gold! Sie siegten in der 470er-Klasse mit drei Punkten Vorsprung. Für den heimischen Segelsport war der Erfolg in Marseille das erste Edelmetall seit 2016 und für Vadlau der größte Erfolg ihrer sportlichen Karriere. Zudem holte die Maria Rainerin zum ersten Mal überhaupt eine Goldmedaille bei Sommerspielen nach Kärnten.

Feier in Velden

Gestern, Donnerstag, wurde die für den „Yacht Club Velden“ startende Vadlau in der Bootswerft Schmalzl feierlich von Landeshauptmann und Sportreferent Peter Kaiser , Landessportdirektor Arno Arthofer, YCV-Präsident Günther Perchinig sowie zahlreichen Wegbegleitern und Fans empfangen. Als besonderer Gratulant stellte sich auch „Skikaiser“ Franz Klammer ein. Noch am Dienstag wurde Vadlau in der Wiener Hofburg von Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen geehrt.

Kärnten würdigt Vadlaus Leistung

Aus den Händen von Kaiser erhielt Vadlau die Sportleistungsmedaille in Gold. „Diese Medaille soll ausdrücken, wie sehr das offizielle Kärnten mit dir verbunden ist und diese Leistung würdigt. Unsere Freude ist riesengroß, der Gewinn der Goldmedaille war historisch und einer der schönsten Tage für die Kärntner Sportfamilie. Wir alle sagen heute Danke und herzliche Gratulation zu eurem Erfolg“, sagte der Landeshauptmann. Arthofer strich die das enge Verhältnis zwischen Vadlau und dem Olympiazentrum Kärnten hervor. „Das Olympiazentrum existiert seit knapp zehn Jahren, wo wir für unsere Top-Athletinnen und –Athleten Top-Möglichkeiten geschaffen haben. Ich darf euch die besten Grüße des gesamten Teams überbringen“, so Arthofer.

„Wir haben mitgefiebert“

Veldens Bürgermeister Ferdinand Vouk und Maria Rains Bürgermeister Franz Ragger gratulierten Vadlau und Mähr zu ihrem großen Triumph bei den Olympischen Spielen. „Es ist eine Freude, heute hier stehen zu dürfen. Wir haben mitgefiebert – herzliche Gratulation zu dieser großartigen Leistung“, so Vouk. „Vor lauter Stolz ist es schwer, die richtigen Worte zu finden. Für mich war der Gewinn der Goldmedaille am 8. August das schönste Geburtstagsgeschenk“, sagte Ragger.

„Olympiasieger ist man für immer“

Manfred Ferch , Präsident des Kärntner Segelvereins, sah die Medaille als Impuls für den heimischen Segelsport. „Es ist unser Anliegen, den Segelsport als Breitensport zu etablieren“, sagte Ferch bei seiner Gratulation. YCV-Präsident Günther Perchinig bedankte sich bei Vadlau und Mähr für ihren Besuch. „Unser gesamter Verein hat Spaß am Segeln, wir sind stolz und ich möchte ein großes Dankeschön an euch beide richten“, sagte Perchinig. Zum Abschluss des Empfangs fand Skikaiser Franz Klammer die richtigen Worte: „Olympiasieger ist man für immer, das kann ich bestätigen!“.

Über Lara Vadlau

Lara Vadlau wurde 1994 in der Steiermark geboren. Durch ihre Eltern kam sie zum Segelsport und holte bereits als Jugendliche ihre ersten großen Titel, darunter die Goldmedaille bei den Olympischen Jugend-Sommerspielen 2010 in Singapur. Mit 18 Jahren war Vadlau die jüngste Seglerin bei Olympischen Spielen (2012 in London). Nach den Olympischen Spielen in Rio 2016 nahm Vadlau eine Pause vom Rudersport und widmete sich ihrem Medizinstudium, das sie 2023 erfolgreich abschloss. Bei den Olympischen Spielen in Paris 2024 gewann sie gemeinsam mit Lukas Mähr im Boot „Furiosa“ Gold im 470er vor den Teams aus Japan und Schweden.
