Kappa is a custom motor yacht launched in 1982 by Cantieri di Pisa .

Founded in 1945, Cantieri di Pisa boasts a rich history in boat building that can be traced back to constructing and refitting military vessels. This expertise can be seen in the present-day, as the Italian yard continues to build spectacular superyachts and perform exceptional refits, leading it to hold a significant place within the industry.

Kappa measures 30.50 metres in length, with a max draft of 2.50 metres and a beam of 7.60 metres. She has a gross tonnage of 197 tonnes.

Kappa has a mahogany hull with a wood superstructure.

Her interior design is by Vivai Del Sud.

Kappa also features naval architecture by Cantieri di Pisa .

It’s rare for a superyacht the size of a football field to be “ethereal,” but Bannenberg & Rowell may have just penned the exception to the rule. The London studio has unveiled a new 367-footer that promises an airy lightness unusual for a vessel of such proportions.

The concept, known as Kappa, has swathes of glass “interwoven” with the structural elements to create “fluid-like” shapes along with a feeling of openness and transparency. The studio says this gives the vessel an “ethereal appearance” that belies her heft and size.

“Although a number of our recent designs have been imagined as yachts for the post-hedonistic age, this probably wouldn’t quite edge into that category,” the studio’s leader, Dickie Bannenberg , told Robb Report via email. “Kappa is unashamedly bold, with expansive exterior spaces, soaring architecture and an almost exo-skeletal foredeck.”

The studio has also incorporated features that meld with the surrounding sea to give those on board a sense of connection to the water. The pièce de résistance is the “amphi-lounge.” Located below deck, it is billed as an “underwater viewing gallery” where seafarers can immerse themselves in the marine world. The beach deck, meanwhile, sports a glass stern side that enables the infinity pool to seamlessly blend with the ocean.

Another standout design feature is the bird’s nest at the superyacht’s bow. Instead of one solid deck, it’s been split into many different elevations. The “island” at the tip of the bow features a table for alfresco dining and is connected to the main deck by a bridge that also doubles as a crane for the two tenders below. Elsewhere, the vessel sports a beach club and gym on the lower deck, two additional pools, a helipad, storage for two jet skis and a scuba dive store.

Regarding propulsion, Bannenberg says the superyacht could be conventionally diesel-powered, but it’s more likely to be fitted with a hybrid installation. Kappa also sports a razor-sharp bow to help her cut through the seas efficiently.

Bannenberg & Rowell is renowned for its unflinching designs that consistently push the envelope. In 2016, the studio partnered with Feadship to deliver the 230-foot, multi-deck masterpiece, Joy , which featured an outdoor basketball court, gym and disco. While that vessel was, well, a joy to behold, Kappa’s ethereal edge may just separate her from the rest.

Get ready to join DMV-area Nupes for the most exciting event of the year, the sixth annual Kappa Takeover at MGM National Harbor on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, 2024. This event is presented by local charitable foundations affiliated with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

This year's event, expanded to two days, Friday and Saturday, offers a premium experience for every guest. All attendees will be treated to hors d'oeuvres and have access to cash bars, cigars, hookah, step and repeat photos, 360 photo stations, and full access to public areas on the prestigious MGM National Harbor resort, including the casino.

By attending the Kappa Takeover, you'll not only enjoy a great event but also contribute to the betterment of our community. All net proceeds from the event will be directed towards youth mentoring, scholarship, and community service programs sponsored by the host foundations, making a significant difference in the lives of many.

Comedian Info

Nupe Joe Clair is the Host of the Kappa Takeover Komedy Show . A native of Seat Pleasant, MD, comedian, radio personality, and on-air veteran, Joe is renowned throughout the DMV and hosts and performs at comedy events across the DMV. He is a proud graduate of Morgan State University, where he pledged the Alpha iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Our featured comedian for the Kappa Takeover Komedy Show is the one and only Tony Woods. A product of the DMV, Tony's comedic genius is best illustrated by his influence on the legendary Dave Chappelle . His career has seen him grace the stage of Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam on HBO, and his recent appearances include Comedy Central Presents Tony Woods, Comedy Central USO Tour, and Comedy Central World Comedy Tour. He's also been a part of Last Comic Standing, A&E's Caroline's Comedy Hour, Showtime at the Apollo, NBC's Friday Night Videos, Just for Laughs, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, HBO Comedy Spot, and various comedy festivals worldwide.

Joining us as a special guest comedian is the multi-talented Willie Lynch, Jr.  A Nupe, historian, nutritionist, and athletic trainer, Willie is a rising star in the comedy scene from the St. Louis area. His comedy is a unique blend of real-life experiences and a heightened sense of history, which he uses to entertain audiences with a fresh and relatable style. His recent highlights include winning the prestigious Bay Area Comedy Competition and making appearances on BET Comic View and the Gotham Comedy Hour.

Also joining us as a special guest comedian is the talented Calvin Evans , a Nupe who began his comedy career while a student at the University of Illinois. After college, he honed his craft in Chicago comedy venues and was named Chicago's Next Big Comic. Calvin's journey in comedy continued to flourish as he received a scholarship to attend the famed Second City Training Center and completed their renowned Improv Conservatory program. He was a finalist in the NBC Standup competition, performed standup on the Kevin Hart Comedy Central series Hart of The City, LOL @ JFL, TruTV Laff Tracks, NBC Bring The Funny, and also appears on the hit Comedy Central show SouthSide. His half-hour Unprotected Sets special was released in 2020 on EPIX.

DJ Quiksilva , also known as "The Party Kingpin," is a seasoned DJ and radio personality raised in East Baltimore. Quiksilva began his career in the '90s and has since built a reputation as one of the premier DJs on the East Coast. Quiksilva has toured the country with multi-platinum artists, worked at every urban radio station in Baltimore and DC, and won numerous awards, including East Coast #1 DJ at the Mix Show Power Summit. In addition to these accolades, Quiksilva has been named DC's Most Popular DJ, DC's Top Radio DJ, and DC's Top Club DJ. With a passion for party-rocking and a keen ear for the hottest tracks, Quiksilva has become a household name in Hip-Hop and R&B who knows how to keep crowds moving. DJ Quicksilva will be headlining The White Party on Saturday, June 15.

A Kappa Takeover crowd favorite, DJ Flava of 93.9 WKYS, has been a featured performer at Kappa Takeover and Winter Takeover events since 2020. Flava is a renaissance man: DJ, motivational speaker, author, entrepreneur, and event promoter. He is the personal DJ for the President of The Gambia in West Africa, where he travels frequently. Flava is passionate about helping less fortunate people and spends much of his time in the community. DJ Flava will perform at the Kappa Takeover Komedy Show on Friday, June 14 and The White Party VIP Set on Saturday, June 15 .

Another Kappa Takeover crowd favorite, DJ Rod Madd Flava , has been a featured performer at Kappa Takeover and Winter Takeover events since our inception. A graduate of Towson University, Rod is an entertainment force in our area, working for years as an on-air DJ, personality, and promotions director for Radio One stations in Maryland and Virginia and his own company, Madd Flava Entertainment, performing and promoting events in the Baltimore area. DJ Rod Madd Flava will perform at The White Party and Kappa Takeover After Hours on Saturday, June 15 .

Nupe, international performer and digital designer DJ Spinrillo ("The Alchemist") is a rising star in the area club scene and overseas. Spinrillo currently has residencies with clubs in DC and New York, playing a variety of music for eclectic audiences. Spinrillo also performs regularly in Latin America, recently completing a tour of Mexico and Costa Rica and performing soon at a music festival in Colombia. He pledged the Theta Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and graduated from Salisbury University with a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. DJ Spinrillo will perform at Kappa Takeover After-Hours on Saturday, June 15 .

Stretch Garrett has thrived in the music/radio industry for two decades. He got his first big break in radio at age 20 while still a junior in college. A true lover of R&B and classic Hip-Hop, he says that music is the perfect remedy for any ailment. Stretch has previously held positions at Yahoo! Music, AOL Music, Atlantic Records, and BET.com and has graced the radio airwaves in Baltimore, Cleveland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and DC. Stretch is originally from Baltimore and a graduate of Towson University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications. He is excited to be back on the radio in his home city of Baltimore on WWIN Majic 95.9 with the company that helped mold him into the personality he is today!

To be represented by Premium Yachts, Ferretti Yachts and Riva , two prestigious brands of the Ferretti Group, will be present at the Moscow International Boat Show 2013, displaying motor yacht Ferretti 530 as well as Riva Iseo yacht tender.

Luxury yacht Ferretti 530 was very keen to undertake in collaboration once again with AYT – Advanced Yacht Technology, Ferretti Group Engineering Division and Studio Zuccon International Project . The compact dimensions, 16 meters long and almost 5 meters wide, allow the 530 yacht to deliver grand Italian luxury and cruising immersed in such comfort until now unheard of in a yacht of this size.

Ferretti 530 yacht boasts three revolutionary innovations: the full beam master cabin with chaise longue and two large open view windows that make it a real suite at sea level bathed in light, tones and the natural essences of teak. Moving the galley from the center to the aft section creates a unique open space that includes the saloon, galley, cocktail bar and the dining area, the cockpit area continues thanks to the tilting window. The roll bar free sky lounge and the spoiler allow the 530 a sporty appearance combined with elegantly formal lines.

Riva , the iconic Ferretti Group brand, presented a new model at the historical Lake d’Iseo shipyards in July 2011. Featuring elegance and ease of transportation as its distinctive characteristics, Iseo superyacht tender , a 27 foot runabout, is destined to become a must-have for those who love cruising on both lakes and the sea, and, most importantly, design enthusiasts. It is also perfect for anyone wishing to enhance their yacht with an exclusive tender that will never go unnoticed.

Due to its ease of manoeuvrability and size, Iseo yacht tender is also ideal as a tender for large yachts. Innovative and elegant, it can also guarantee comfort in bad weather conditions. Besides the electrohydraulic bimini top, it was also designed with a waterproof, automobile-style soft top which protects those on board against water and the wind during cruising.
