Motor Yacht

Widely considered to be one of the first true hybrid motor yachts, Savannah is an 83.50 metre superyacht which represented a new phase of evolution for Feadship. The eco-friendly blend of single diesel engine, three gensets, batteries, propeller, azimuting thruster and a streamlined hull shape, created Savannah, one of the most award winning Feadships on the water.

Her ‘floating superstructure’ is yet another example of innovation through design, giving Savannah a profile which is immediately recognisable yet timeless.

Savannah was built by Feadship in 2015, with exterior design from De Voogt Naval Architects and CG Design - who also played a role in the interior styling.  Savannah is also painted entirely metallic sea foam green, with exception of her mast domes, and features an underwater lounge where guests can watch the underwater universe go by in complete serenity and unity with the uncharted.

Not short of design elements, the room also features a pool, cinema and special glass to compliment the series of design and industry firsts that were met on her launch.

The motor yacht SAVANNAH is a 36 m 118 (ft) well proportioned composite superyacht which was produced from the keel up by Pj vannah (Formerly Intermarine vannah) and designed in the office of Intermarine and Luiz De Basto Designs. Sleeping 8 guests and 6 crew members, motor yacht SAVANNAH was formerly named 2412. The naval architecture office who actualised this yacht's design in respect of the yacht is Intermarine and Luiz De Basto Designs. Further, the interior styling was the work of Luiz De Basto Designs / Sally Ferguson.

The Construction & Yacht Design of Luxury Yacht SAVANNAH

Intermarine was the naval architect involved in the formal nautical composition for SAVANNAH. Her interior design was completed by Luiz De Basto Designs / Sally Ferguson. Intermarine and Luiz De Basto Designs is also associated with the yacht general design work for this yacht. Created by Pj vannah (Formerly Intermarine vannah) the vessel was built in the country of the United States. She was successfully launched in Savannah Ga in 2000 before being handed over to the owner. The hull was built out of composite. The motor yacht superstructure component is made mostly from composite. With a width of 7.16 m / 23.5 feet SAVANNAH has moderate size. A fairly shallow draught of 1.83m (6ft) affects the amount of worldwide harbours she can berth in, taking into account their particular depth.

Powered by twin CATERPILLAR diesel main engines, SAVANNAH is able to reach a maximum speed of 21 knots. SAVANNAH is propelled by twin screw propellers. Her total HP is 2700 HP and her total Kilowatts are 1987. With respect to bow thrusters she was built with Naiad. For stabalisers she utilises Naiad.

€29M price reduction on 84m Feadship superyacht Savannah

A €29,000,000 price reduction has been announced on the 83.5-metre Feadship motor yacht Savannah, which came on the market for the first time in September 2023 and is listed with Andrew Bond of Edmiston .

Built in the Netherlands by Feadship in 2015, the multi-award-winning steel and aluminium superyacht was designed and engineered by Feadship and De Voogt Naval Architects with living spaces designed by CG Design – one of only two yachting projects undertaken by the French studio. 

Winner of the coveted Motor Yacht of the Year award at the World Superyacht Awards in 2015, Savannah is a truly innovative hybrid vessel with an exceptionally clean "electro-mechanic" propulsion package, claimed to provide fuel savings of 30 per cent compared to conventional yachts in her class.

As well as being one of the most sought-after charter yachts on the market, Savannah has been consistently maintained since new – with a full repaint in her statement "Sea Foam metallic green" taking place during a major refit in 2020 that cost upwards of €9,000,000 alongside other numerous upgrades. 

Walls of glass wrap around her decks and Cristina Gherardi Bernadeau and Marcello Bozzarelli of CG Design rewrote the rule book when it came to her interiors, introducing curved bulkheads to replace the usual straight ones. Dark rosewood floors, silk curtains, polished columns and metallic finishes throughout create an opulent ambience.

Savannah accommodates 12 guests across six cabins, with a VIP, two doubles and two convertible cabins making up the five guest cabins forward on the main deck. A statement elevator connects all decks and the communal spaces feel absolutely vast with high deckheads. The owner's private deck is described by the broker as "a showstopper, with a huge skylight above the bed, a dining room, saloon, office, large marble bathroom and dressing area providing an exclusive enclave, while outside there is a private terrace and helipad". There are generous quarters for a crew of 24 in 12 cabins.

Savannah's amenities include a nine-metre swimming pool on the aft deck – cascading onto the swim platform and connecting with the main saloon – a gym, a spa and Hammam, a DJ station and a barbecue on the sundeck. One of her most lauded features is undoubtedly her submerged underwater "Nemo" lounge which allows for spectacular viewings of sealife in anchorages in an amphitheatre-like setting.

The tender inventory includes a 9.5-metre limousine tender and a 9.5-metre sport tender. As well as a full array of water toys, Savannah sports a golf driving range and basketball court.

The 2,305GT yacht for sale contains one 2,414hp Wärtsilä 9L20 4-stroke engine as well as a one-megawatt battery bank. She has a range of 6,500 nautical miles at her cruising speed of 14 knots and a maximum speed of 17 knots.

Savannah is now asking €140,000,000.

As the world’s first truly hybrid superyacht, the groundbreaking 84m/274ft motor yacht SAVANNAH promises to change the charter experience forever. But how does all of her pioneering engineering work?

Delivered to enormous fanfare in 2015, SAVANNAH is unquestionably one of the most unique Feadship motor yachts ever built.

Indeed, her striking profile and series of standout features are supported by a wholly eco-friendly kind of engineering which makes her a product of innovation.

Promising a quieter cruising experience and an enhanced fuel efficiency, the ingenious integration of engine and electrical power ultimately led to her winning a series of awards as well as being named the ‘Motor Yacht of the Year’ in 2016.

In this article we take a look beneath the hood to explain how exactly the world’s first truly hybrid superyacht gets from one fantastic destination to the next.

Pioneering propulsion systems

Her groundbreaking ‘Breath System’ combines a number of technologies to create a whole new kind of propulsion which allows for fuel economies of over 30% whilst increasing manoeuvrability, a feat unrivalled by any other superyacht, and a point which demonstrates the innovative approach which has come to define the iconic Dutch shipyard.

Commenting on the mechanics of the Breath System, McCumber points out how “It is not the individual technologies used on Savannah that are new in the yachting world – it is the way they have been combined”.

Indeed, despite how impressive and ingenious the system is, all of it is underlined by a breathtaking simplicity.

Advanced hybrid technologies

Consisting of only a few components - a medium speed diesel engine, a single propeller and an electrical driven azimuthing stern thruster, to be exact- the Breath System allows captains to effortlessly alternate between four ‘operational modes’ to cruise in only the most eco-friendly way.

From ‘manoeuvring mode’ to ‘high-speed mode’, the various combinations of components means that energy is conserved by switching off parts when they’re not needed-  the main engine and generators won’t be online when navigating the port, for example.

As the world’s first truly hybrid superyacht, and with plenty of modern style, SAVANNAH promises to deliver a highly unique charter experience

Similarly, ‘range mode’ generates all of the power via the medium speed diesel engine, a configuration which ultimately cuts back on the maintenance hours and significantly reduces fuel consumption. Driving the propeller via the gearbox, this mode also allows for a maximum speed of 14 knots.

For when higher speeds are necessary, the captain has the option of utilising the generators and main engine in tandem, with the option of further power from the batteries helping SAVANNAH to travel at 18 knots.

Ultra-smart engineering

Other innovative solutions which help define SAVANNAH as a veritable ‘green machine’ are to be found in her impressive mechanics. Her propeller, for instance, is larger in diameter than those found on vessels of a similar size- a fact which ensures a greater efficiency whilst reducing noise and vibrations.

Likewise, the medium speed diesel engine integrated in the ‘Breath System’ runs at around 900-1000 rpm which is vastly more efficient than those which are usually selected and run between 1600 to 2400 rpm.

As well as being friendlier to the environment, her engineering and dynamic arrangement ramp up the reliability as each of the components is strong enough to propel the yacht in the unlikely event of others failing. Should the main engine or gearbox fail , for example, the yacht can still be propelled and steered with the azimuthing thruster.

Whilst low speed diesel engines are a fixture on most commercial vessels, and batteries have appeared on certain Japanese cargo ships, SAVANNAH’s hybrid combination of generators, a single propellor, a medium speed engine, and batteries, is entirely unique.

With six chic ensuite cabins, a SAVANNAH yacht charter can welcome up to 12 guests onboard. Located on the upper deck is the owner’s suite, a luxurious light-filled private space, linked to a spacious outdoor seating area, dining room, and office.

Situated in the middle of this stunning superyacht is a state-of-the-art elevator, giving you easy access to each of the 4 decks. Guests can travel from the panoramic views of the main deck to the comforts of the underwater lounge at the touch of a button.

Each cabin and lounge has been designed to maximise the visual and human experience, the awe-inspiring underwater lounge and master suite, with its wall of glass and vast oval skylight, being two notable moments in this yacht’s interior story.

Interior Design & Engineering

The interior of the SAVANNAH motor yacht is flooded with light thanks to her peerless use of wall glass that wraps around her decks. She’s home to the first-ever Nemo lounge: a partially submerged room with glass walls that allow guests to literally see under the waterline.

You get a real sense of space when you head inside the main deck of the SAVANNAH yacht. The main salon is secured by sliding curved-glass doors and feels like an extension of the aft deck. It leads to a second salon, with a further salon and dining area on the owner’s deck above.

With just 12 guests accommodated across her 83.5m, you can expect to sleep in spacious rooms. The upper deck is home to a luxurious, light-flooded owner’s suite with a wall of glass and a large skylight, plus a separate office, a marble en suite, and a large seating area outside. Each of the other cabins—a VIP, two doubles and two convertibles—boast large windows to increase the feeling of space and maximise your connection with the ocean.

Not to be overlooked is her impeccable eco-credentials. As Feadship’s first-ever hybrid superyacht, the trailblazing SAVANNAH combines an efficient hull design with impressive electric-diesel performance for greener—and quieter—cruising.

Yacht facilities & Entertainment

An overwhelming number of features are waiting for you on the SAVANNAH yacht. On a practical level, amenities like her touch-and-go helipad and elevator serving four decks make her easily accessible.

Other facilities, like her 9m swimming pool, full beach club, gym, spa and Hammam, are particularly attractive during a charter. You could even make use of the DJ station and throw your own party or indulge in treatments from the onboard masseuse and beautician.

Her comprehensive modern art collection will also keep you transfixed. For example, the double-height video monitors that line the passage between the two main deck salons can be programmed to display static or flowing abstract images

Toys and Crew

You’ll be outnumbered during your SAVANNAH yacht charter, with a crew of 24 on board.

When you’re ready to get on the water, there’s a variety of toys to choose from. Plunge into the blue with the Jumbo Inflatable slide and trampoline, race around on the range of personal watercraft, and get your adrenaline up with the inflatable towables.

Sports fans will enjoy the basketball court on this luxury superyacht and a wide range of sporting goods such as footballs, frisbees, volleyball nets, and more.

You can take the adventure below the surface with extensive snorkeling equipment and scuba diving gear. And if you want to head back to shore, you can chuck the specialised gravel bikes into one of the two tenders and zip across.
