This Cruise Life

In January, we sailed on MSC Meraviglia for a 9-night cruise. Each night, we dined at the private Top Sail Restaurant – exclusive to Yacht Club guests. Because food is such an important part of our cruise experience, we captured every dinner menu to share with you.

To make it easier to digest (see what I did there!!), we’ve split the 9 dinners into 3 separate pages, complete with photos of the food. Scroll down to see just how well we ate during the course of our cruise!

MSC Yacht Club – Night One Dinner Menu

For our first dinner in the Yacht Club Top Sail Lounge, we each enjoyed multiple starters and entrées. We both ended our meal with the Tiramisu.

MSC Yacht Club Menus (2024) with Pictures

I got the Nordic Salad and the Fire-Roasted Tomato Cream Soup as my Starters. Because I couldn’t decide on my meal, I got two: the Tortellini Stuffed with Asparagus and Mascarpone Cheese along with the Punjabi Tadka.

MSC Yacht Club – Night Two Dinner Menu

The second night in the Top Sail Lounge was the Gala Dinner (aka, Formal Night). There were so many wonderful options on the menu, and we, once again, each ordered several appetizers!

msc grandiosa yacht club menu

I ordered the Williams Salad and Burgundy Snails (fun fact: escargot is one of my favorite starters). For my entrée, I ordered the Champagne Risotto. While I won’t rehash our Yacht Club Food Review on YouTube here, let’s just say it was one of the best dishes I had in the Yacht Club. I ended my meal with the Crepes Suzette.

MSC Yacht Club – Night Three Dinner Menu

Our third dinner in the Yacht Club’s Top Sail Lounge was no different than our previous nights; we couldn’t decide what to order! So, both Rocky and I each got several appetizers. I stuck with the risotto for my main as I enjoyed it so much the previous night and I finished off with the evening’s featured dessert.

msc grandiosa yacht club menu

To start, I had the Cream of Argenteuil Asparagus Soup from the “Deliciously Healthy” section of the menu. Side note: I find it kind of funny that the Deliciously Healthy section is placed directly under the full Desserts menu. haha

I also enjoyed the fried Asiago Cheese Fritters (definitely not from the Deliciously Healthy section). For my main, I ordered the Truffle Risotto. Again, I don’t want to give too much away, but WOW. This was fantastic; I highly recommend. Finally, for dessert I ordered the Cherries Jubilee which was flambéed by the maître d’. Extra points for both presentation and flavor. Once again, another highly recommended dish.

Yacht Club BREAKFAST Menu

Host Jazzbeau

This is the Yacht Club breakfast menu, which seems to be essentially the same in all Yacht Club restaurants.

In the separate threads for Yacht Club LUNCH and  DINNER menus you will note that after the main set of menus, which were given to @Beamafar  and declared complete by her YC MD, there are additional menus from other MSC ships and sailings that are at best variations on the main set.  So I am not giving any warranty that the menu posted here is the only breakfast menu.

@Beamafar  and  I have now done our part.  If you would like to contribute, please feel free to post additional menus (or variations) and 'food porn' pictures.  Just please remember that this thread is for Yacht Club BREAKFAST menus only.  See the separate threads for Yacht Club LUNCH and   DINNER  menus .

This may have been asked and buried in a different post somewhere but does anyone know if it is possible to order breakfast items via room service in YC that are not on the official room service menu? Such as those on the menu posted above?

I ask because on NCL (suite) they told us that we could order whatever we wanted for breakfast (within reason and if available, of course) even though not on the menu - just to manually write on the card what we wanted.

Not sure if that's something MSC will do.

Good question and something that I did not try to do.  Not sure if one could or not.

As a solo YC guest, something unusual in comparison to ordering Room Service on other ships, my Butler served my tray with one cup of coffee--not a pot of coffee--just one filled cop.  Most mornings I went to the YC Restaurant for breakfast.

On 10/20/2019 at 2:51 PM, Host Jazzbeau said: Breakfast:

If you enjoy a seated/served breakfast, you will love your YC breakfast!

Quiet with service (most mornings) as good as at lunch and dinner.  Usually, just one of the two Maitre d's was working, but their excellent, active service was just as good as at dinner.  Once, I ordered both the assorted cheese and cold cut plate:  delicious.  I preferred  the Ranchero Potatoes over the Hash Browns.  When I ordered poached eggs or Eggs Benedict, I was asked how I liked the eggs cooked.  (They were prepared as I requested.)   Coffee cup was kept filled, usually without having to request that.  One morning, I ordered their Stewed Apples and was served enough for 2-3 people:  very good, though.  Their breads that I ate were all very good; I love croissants and those were as good as any I have eaten.

One oddity:  while Grapefruit Juice was listed on the menu as being freshly squeezed, when I requested a half Grapefruit, it was not available.

Only once did I have breakfast at the YC Pool Grill and was pleased with the offerings.  Items, such as the potatoes or bacon that were self serve, cooled quickly in the open air and I was disappointed with the much fewer choices of the bread offerings.  There were three--as I recall:  hard rolls,  a variety of bread slices, or a small selection of danish type pastries.  A much greater selection was available in the YC Restaurant.

I enjoyed Breakfast on MSC Meraviglia!

That's odd. We've just come off Preziosa and I chose Fresh grapefruit 11 days out of fourteen...

Good for you.  I like the fact that the sections of the fruit were served as shown.  Makes it much easier than "digging" the fruit out of the skin.

Ah, after the second day I even had the peel removed.

That's how good the staff were. They witnessed me removing it on day two and obviously informed the chef.

Funnily enough, a few years ago on Seabourn a half grapefruit appeared that had just been sliced in half and the 'pulp' not separated.

Regardless of the ship on which I have sailed, I have never had the pulp not separated.  More of than not, the separations are large enough that I need to use fork and knife to do a bit more "dissecting".

Well done you.

Though that was the one reason that I remembered Seabourn can fall short.

I don't see either of the items I liked best at the non-Yacht Club breakfast: walnut sticky buns (cinnamon rolls), and breakfast pizzas.

Nor congee.  The toppings were very nice.

I think the sticky buns were available.  I recall seeing them on the display as one entered the YC Restaurant for breakfast.  Breakfast pizzas?  No.  Not in the Dining Room nor at the Pool Grille that I recall.

2 hours ago, shipgeeks said: Nor congee.  The toppings were very nice.

I don't recall that either on MSC.  I had congee when I was in China.  In my opinion, it's one of those foods that one has to acquire a "taste for".

Next June will be my first Yacht Club experience. I've stayed in The Haven on NCl and they offer Steak and Eggs. Will I be able to get this on MSC?

Beamafar

Steak is not on the breakfast menu.  However, if you speak to the YC asst m’D he may be able to arrange it for you.

I enjoyed reading the menu again.  Thanks for posting it.  Seeing that Stewed Applies remain available reminds me of the morning when I ordered that along with juice and a regular full breakfast.  My Steward brought me a full bowl of the fruit!  Much more than I expected.  I saved it for a breakfast "dessert"; a first for me.  Delicious, but I needed to "waddle" out of the Dining Room that morning!

I searched for 15 minutes the current YC Bar List (+ Wine selection at the YC Restaurant), but I cannot find it. Does anyone have an idea? I plan to cruise in Mediterranean sea on the MSC Seaside.

And thanks a lot @elbarney for sharing the YC Lunch/Dinner lists. Great job!!

Everything I Ate on my MSC Cruise (Photos and Menus) – Food Review

If you are taking an MSC cruise, you may be wondering about the food. On an MSC cruise, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are all included at no extra cost.

I’ve cruised many times with MSC. This review is based on MSC Seaview. In this post, we will look at everything I ate in the main dining room, buffet, and room service.

Menus are also provided.

I took my first MSC cruise in 2012, and the quality of the food has increased dramatically over the years in my opinion.

emma cruises msc seaview

Buffet – Included

The buffet on the MSC Seaview was open from early in the morning until late at night. During our cruise, only half of the buffet was open due to the ship’s reduced capacity (2022), but we still had lots of choices.

The buffet at dinner time consisted of:

  • Freshly Cooked Pizza
  • A Grill Section (Burgers, Hot Dogs, Steaks etc.)
  • Wellness Section
  • Family Dining
  • Ethnic Corner (Usually Indian)

The sections would be different for breakfast and lunch.

MSC Cruises buffet food broccoli pizza potatoes and chips

The photo above is of one lunch I had at the buffet. The great thing about the buffet is that you can combine anything that looks interesting.

msc cruises buffet breakfast food fruit doughnuts and bread

The photo above is of my breakfast. They did have cooked breakfasts available as well as cold options, but I always prefer a cold breakfast.

Breakfast doughnuts we had were good, and they also had waffles and pancakes.

In the grill section, they had example food, which I liked. All of these burgers/steaks were cooked freshly, so it was easy to see what you were ordering.

msc cruises buffet grill section with burgers and hot dogs

There wasn’t a veggie burger on show here, but I asked the crew, and they happily cooked me one from fresh. It was very good.

We would often pick up a slice of pizza or a little box of chips.

msc cruises buffet pizza and chips

There were multiple types of pizza available, and they were constantly being replenished.

They also had things like bruschetta and garlic bread.

msc cruises pizza and brucetta

There was a big outdoor seating area outside the buffet where we usually ate.

There was waiter service here too, and we never had to wait to order a drink.

msc cruises buffet lunch sandwich carrots bread and chips

The above shows one of my dinner combinations. They also had sandwiches and other items for dinner.

msc cruises buffet breakfast fruit bread and water

MSC bakes its own bread, and they usually have many choices. MSC bread is great!

msc cruises buffet dessert section

There were lots of little desserts available throughout the day. I did wish that they served the breakfast doughnuts later in the day, but we usually just had a little cake or cookie.

The below is a kind of sugared pineapple dessert pizza, it was very tasty. I could have eaten a full-sized pizza of this…

msc cruises buffet desserts cookies pineapple pizza

The cookies were small but good. They were more like shortbread biscuits than cookies, but I think it still counts.

Main Dining Room – Golden Sands – Included

There are multiple main dining rooms on board the MSC Seaview. However, our cruise was sailing at 23% capacity, so only one main restaurant was open.

We were assigned late dining at 9pm but we were able to change this to early dining at 6.30 .

We went to the dining room during the lunch opening hours and they were able to change our table for us.

There are no fixed breakfast or lunch dining times. Guests can eat in the main dining room whenever it is open.

Menus can be viewed in advance on the MSC app – which I loved

Main #2Oriental-style Rice Noodles

The food was all very good, and we never had any problems with anything.

The great thing about a cruise is that you can order as many things from the menu as you’d like for no extra charge.

MSC makes all of its own pasta onboard, and it’s probably the thing that MSC does best. If you are in doubt about what to get, I’d always recommend the pasta …

The potatoes were also always lovely!

Our second dinner was the ‘elegant’ dinner. On this night guests are invited to dress to impress if they would like to.

The dress codes are always “suggested”.

Lasagna Portofino (Au Gratin with Genoese Pesto Sauce)
After Eight Sensation (Chocolate and Mint Mousse Cake)

msc cruises main dining room dinner pool lasaga portofino and after eight cake

The Lasagna Portofino may not look like much, but it was probably my favourite meal on board.

I had never had a Lasagne Portofino before the cruise, and that’s what’s great about cruising. You can try new things and might find something you love .

The “After Eight”Dessert is always good. It’s chocolate and mint. If you see it, definitely order it. (After Eights are a brand of boxed chocolates in the UK).

Crispy Fried Calamari (Black Pepper Lime Dressing)

Grilled Ribeye Steak (With Corn on The Cob, Grilled Courgettes and Baked Potato with Sour Cream)
White Chocolate Mousse Cake (Dark Chocolate Sauce)

The Black Bean Chowder isn’t very photogenic, but it was tasty, as were the calamari rings.

msc cruises main dining room food steak pasta and dessert

I thought it was a little odd that the baked potato arrived still in its foil, but it was well-cooked, and the steak was good too.

I had pasta once again, which was very good again and I also enjoyed the dessert.

Soft Oriental Roll (Crepe Filled with Crispy Vegetables, Ginger Soy Sauce)
Middle Eastern Falafel (Vegetable Fritters, Hummus, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Tahini Sauce, Pita Bread)
Roasted Cornish Hen With Jamaican Flavours (Jerk Spices, Garlic Lime-Roasted Roast Potatoes, Sweet Grilled Peppers)
Sachertorte (Australian Chocolate Cake with Apricot Filling)

The oriental roll was probably my favourite starter from the cruise.

It was something I’d never usually have at home, and I enjoyed it.

My only criticism of the dessert was that it could have done with some more cream, but I’m sure they would have given me some had I asked.

Speciality Restaurant – Asian Fusion

I have black loyalty status with MSC, which means that I get a free meal at a speciality restaurant.

I achieved the black loyalty status by matching my NCL loyalty status to MSC.

MSC are the only cruise line that will match loyalty statuses from other cruise lines. It’s pretty easy to do and it is well worth taking advantage of the freebies.

If you are cruising with MSC or have a loyalty status with another cruise line or some hotel brands, make sure you match your status.

My guide as to how to do it is here:

MSC Status Match – Step by Step Application Guide and Chart .

We went to the Asian Fusion restaurant and the loyalty status perk entitled us to a free dining experience. At the time of sailing, it was worth €39 each.

We dined quite early (6 pm) and for a while, we were the only guests in the restaurant!

We loved our meal in the speciality restaurant, everything was tasty and because there were only a few guests in the restaurant it was like having our own waiters and private chefs!

Room Service – Cost: €11

We embarked on the MSC Seaview late at night, so we decided to order room service.

There is a charge for each room service item and also a delivery fee   (unless you are in a higher-grade cabin or a suite) .

In total this pizza came to just under €11. After 17 hours of travelling it was worth every Euro.

msc cruises room service pizza

This is the same pizza that you can get at the buffet. We paid to have a whole pizza to ourselves and to have it delivered.

I wouldn’t usually do this, I’d normally go to the buffet to get the pizza myself, but in this situation, it was well worth it.
