Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2: The Yacht Location Guide, Loot Locations, Where To Drop

Ever wanted your very own super-yacht? Well, this isn't quite the same, but you could certainly do worse than landing on The Yacht to start your Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 career. But where is best to land, and where is the best loot? We've got you covered.

part 2 the yacht

Published: 26 Feb 2020 10:53 AM +00:00 Updated: 08 Apr 2021 9:14 AM +00:00

Fornite Chapter 2 Season 2 offers a host of exciting changes to the map we all knew and loved throughout Season 1, including a super-yacht that has sailed into the north-east corner of the map.

The Yacht includes a whole host of loot, plenty of secret passages, and a giant golden statue of the elusive Midas. Nothing says humble like a giant golden statue of yourself, right?

If you're planning on dropping to The Yacht, head to the north of Steamy Stacks, but be sure not to miss and end up stranded in the ocean.

From there, follow our tips to make the most of your time at sea, and emerge ready and equipped to deal with the battle ahead.

Be sure to watch our wide variety of Fortnite content here!

Best Landing Spots

You can land pretty much anywhere you want on The Yacht, but some areas are much better than others.

We'd suggest landing on the back of the boat, but on the very top can work as well.

The front of the boat (with the large H Helipad) doesn't offer much loot and has plenty of NPC Henchmen patrolling.

Your main aim is to get to the vault in the basement of The Yacht, via the NPC boss Meowscles to grab the key card which will grant you access.

Meowscles patrols the main room at the centre of the boat, and your best chance of access is from the rear, as you can take cover under the stairway so other guards don't see you.

The alternative is disguising yourself in the telephone box at the front of the boat so you can walk in uninterrupted by NPCs - but this takes a long time while rival players are busy looting.

Loot Locations

As always, head straight for the vault when you arrive on The Yacht. Grab the keycard from Meowscles, beat the Henchmen, and get your goodies.

Meowscles' signature Legendary AK isn't really that good, so don't bother picking that up.

Watch out for players camping the vault, but the Supply Caches inside should sort you out with a full complement of loot.

Then take the Porta-Potty out of there, and find the three chests in the storage containers at the other end.

This puts you out on the mainland, ready to head towards the centre and the bigger fights.

Finding Cover

The Yacht is a surprisingly open area, especially on the front deck and in the main room.

After killing Meowscles, try to stick to the higher ground or the basement areas to avoid getting shot.

There are a lot of NPC Henchmen in this small area, so be careful even when landing alone, or take cover in the smaller rooms beside the big room - the ones with the cat flaps that you have to crawl through.

These are great places to top up your shields, as you'll see and hear enemies coming.

Best Weapons

While you may prefer a shotgun below decks, Assault Rifles remain the best choice on top.

There are some longer-ranged areas, and you may need to take out Meowscles from a distance to avoid being taken out by massed Henchmen.

The Assault Rifles will come in handy once you go through the Porta-Potty and end up on the mainland.

You'll find yourself pretty open, and aside from campers at the exit, so the range will come in handy.

Pros And Cons

The Yacht is a little bit loot lite, and quite far from anywhere else on the map. If it's near the Battle Bus path, it'll likely be busy with everyone after the sweet vault loot, but if it's too far then your time could be better spent elsewhere.

If you're headed to Steamy Stacks and it seems a bit busy, The Yacht may be a good second choice, but other areas seem to offer better rewards this season.

After a spring season of yachting fun (which was actually filmed in August 2020 ), steamy hookups, and bitter feuds, Below Deck Sailing Yacht   is reaching its final docking point. The show aired its first reunion episode last night (June 21), gossiping about all of the drama with Bravo host Andy Cohen . And that sea voyage isn’t done quite yet: there’s a whole new reunion set to air tonight, too. Grab your life preserver and brace for motion sickness — things might get a little bumpy for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Season 2 crew.

The first reunion episode dealt with star Dani Soares ‘s new baby, who was rumored to be the child of co-star Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux . Soares shared that she “thinks it’s not his child, and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it.” Cerza-Lanaux did not take part in the group reunion last night, but he did sit down for a solo chat with Cohen to clear the air. Clashing with Soares, Cerza-Lanaux said that he would take place in raising the child if it was his — though he also shared that he thought she was “chasing 15 minutes of fame.” Woof! In case you were wondering whether Dani and Jean-Luc are still together , that probably put a nail in that coffin.

Can the drama top last night’s events? Perhaps. Here’s how to watch the  Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Reunion Part 2:

The Anatomy of a Yacht | Superyacht Terminology

Whether cruising with family and friends or enjoying an adventurous sailing trip, yachts can offer everything you need for the perfect holiday. Before stepping board, it can be useful to familarise yourself with the parts of a yacht to understand the language and terminology used by the crew onboard, and to appreciate how these impressive vessels work. From the keel to the sails, it's important to understand the anatomy of any vessel before setting out on a chartering journey.

The Parts of a Yacht - An Overview

Understanding the parts of a yacht not only improves your sailing experience but will also increase your appreciation of these powerful vessels. A standard yacht has several key parts, including a stern, hull, and bow. The stern, or aft, refers to the back the yacht, sometimes accompanied by a swim platform. On the other end of the vessel, the bow refers to the front of the yacht. The part of the yacht that floats in the water is referred to as the hull. Most traditional yachts have one hull, however catamarans are typically ‘multi-hull' having two points of contact with the sea.

Yacht anatomy

Mischief superyacht was designed with an iconic French navy hull and white boot stipe.

Hulls – Materials and Design

As hulls are one of the largest components of a yacht, it is important that the design is intentional to withstand the elements on the ocean. The material that is it constructed of varies depending on the vessels size and intended use; it is common to see hulls made from wood, steel, or composite materials. Hulls play a crucial role is ensuring stability on board and a smooth journey as conditions on the ocean can vary.

Bridge & Bridge Deck

Port side & starboard side.

These terms refer to the left and right sides of a yacht; Port side refers to the left side, while starboard side is the right. A helpful tip is to remember the saying “there is a little bit of port left in the bottle.” This terminology is often used by crew in order to effectively communicate with their team in order to avoid accidents and safely navigate the seas, so you will likely hear these terms onboard your stay.

Lady Pamela’s large swim platform ideal for fishing or setting off paddleboarding.

Yacht Main Salon and Swim Platform

There is plenty of fun to be had in these two areas of a yacht. The main salon refers to the main living room onboard and is a space where yacht designers can showcase their personality in the design. Often featuring plush seating, stylish decor and high-end entertaining systems, guests can comfortably enjoy downtime relaxing and socialising in this area. The swim platform is exactly what it sounds like; it offers a convenient way to jump in to cool off and enjoy the water. When you feel it’s time to take a dip, the swim platform is the perfect spot to soak up the sun, enjoy the available watertoys , dip your feet in the ocean, or take a refreshing dive or snorkel in the sea.

All of these elements are thoughtfully designed by experts across the world to construct the magnificent yachts that we know and love. We encourage you to experience our favourite vessels for yourself through luxury yacht hire to appreciate the impressive design and craftsmanship. Our team is here to help you plan your dream holiday on board today.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion, Part 2 Recap: Colin and Daisy Tell All

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion recap

Welcome back to Part 2 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 reunion.

Following a few repetitive questions about Madison “Mads” Herrera and Gary King’s boatmance – didn’t we cover all of this in the last episode? – host Andy Cohen turned his attention to a possible relationship between Mads and Alex Propson . “Mads, it was really exciting when you and Alex finally made out in the van,” Andy said. “Did you see each other after the season wrapped?”

“Uh, yeah,” Mads responded. “We hung out here and there.”

“There’s been instances,” Alex added.

“What do you mean [by] ‘instances’ with Mads?” Andy asked.

“After the show, we explored it a little bit,” Alex said, “to see if it was something worth continuing with. We’re both very busy. Geographically we’re close but as friends now.”

But did they have sex?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Everyone’s stayed pretty well-connected,” Alex continued, “ Chase [Lemacks] , Ileisha [Dell] , Lucy [Edmunds] , Mads … we’ve been on some trips together, and we hang out together. We talk weekly. I think we’re all in a really good place and happy with … the way it is.”

“But did you have sex?” Daisy Kelliher asked, laughing. “That’s what they want to know.”

“There you go,” Andy agreed.

“It’s important to all of us to stay really good friends,” Mads said. “And that’s what outshines everything. So that’s where it is.” Still not answering the question, Mads.

“Friends with benefits then,” Andy interjected.

“No, friends,” Mads insisted. But then she seemed to almost say something but stopped herself. “He has a … Wait, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that.”

When Andy asked him, “You have a girlfriend, right, Alex?” Alex kind of grudgingly admitted that he does. “Uh, yeah,” he said.

Andy seemed confused as he responded, “Okay, well, don’t sound too excited about it.”

“Technically, not right now,” Alex clarified, “but, you know, I’m hopeful.”

Standing up to the throuple

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Andy brought up that one thing we all learned this season is that “throuples maybe don’t work, eh?”

Addressing Captain Glenn Shephard , Andy continued, “With the throuple, that was really the first time we’ve seen you step in and threaten to kick an unruly guest off the boat. How did you know you had to intervene?”

“I’ve seen that kind of thing before,” Glenn said, “and I don’t want to take any chances. I want to make it abundantly clear … what’s at stake if these guys start acting out.”

Andy digs into the Colin/Daisy drama

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap

Finally, Andy ordered up the tea we all came here to sip. “This season, we saw a newly single Colin [MacRae] make a move on Daisy. But after learning the truth about her sexual history with Gary and mistakenly being called ‘Gary’ in bed, does Colin regret stumbling into this love triangle?”

“Diana from Lake Placid said, ‘After seeing Daisy on Watch What Happens Live , it seems like she’s not liking Colin,'” Andy read. “What happened?” Gary brought snacks, as he chose that moment to start crunching potato chips, very loudly. Rude, Gary. Did you bring enough for everyone?

“That’s for me?” Colin asked.

“You’d like to go first, Colin?” Daisy responded, sarcastically. “Absolutely. Narrate the story.”

“We explored something together,” Colin began. “I flew her over from the UK to come see me. That was really good … We spent a couple of weeks together in Mexico. I flew to New York to see her. We kind of bounced around together for a little while, and then it kind of turned a little toxic, I’d say. And I ended things around December last year.”

What went wrong?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

When Andy asked why things had turned toxic, Daisy volunteered, “Because we triggered each other, and you’re missing the whole point of why it really turned badly.”

“What is he missing?” Andy wanted to know.

“When I found out he’d broken up with his ex-girlfriend in April [2022, prior to the charter season],” Daisy explained, “I was like okay, great [because now he was single] … We knew we liked each other. We could feel it. So I turn up to the boat, and I find out that he’s been sleeping with someone that he was working with. So I immediately retreat. I put up all of my walls.” But it wasn’t shown on the show.

“I became very defensive, as I’m apparently defined as. Colin made me feel incredibly guilty about the Gary thing. That didn’t just happen on season, [but] throughout the year. [Then I kept asking him] about this woman and why it was different with me and Gary and not this woman? And he said, ‘The difference is that I’m telling you that there is nothing between me and this woman.'” He assured her that even if he and Daisy were to break up, he and the woman had no future together.

“So then to find out from my crew members a couple of months after we had broken up,” Daisy continued, “that he was now in a serious relationship with this woman, it was very shocking for me to hear. Very hurtful. And the toxicity was always there because the trust was never there.”

Colin’s side of the story

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Before filming Season 4,” Colin responded, “Daisy and I hooked up.” Andy was visibly surprised by this new information, and he’s not the only one. “This is what nobody knows in the audience.”

“Okay, so you wanna f*cking talk about this now?” Daisy interjected. “Why don’t we go well back to Season 2?”

“You’re overreacting,” Colin told Daisy. “This is why the relationship turned toxic. You can’t reason with this woman. I’ve realized that, and I’ve ended things with her.”

“This is what I need to say,” Colin continued. “Daisy and I hooked up before the season.” Andy’s jaw was on the floor at this news. “I rang Gary, and I told him, ‘Hey, bro, I just wanna know how you feel.’ He was stoked about it. I told Glenn, ‘Hey, this is gonna add another spanner in the works.’ Glenn was happy about it. Daisy was in my hotel room days before filming. We had started something already.”

At this point, Andy remembered he was supposed to be asking questions. “Okay, hold up,” Andy said. “So you hooked up before the show. At that point, had she told you that she and Gary had hooked up? Or was that a surprise to you as you were filming?”

“I found that out halfway through the season filming,” Colin admitted.

Daisy’s rebuttal

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Why don’t we go back to Season 2,” Daisy jumped in, “when we’d finished filming, when you were in your serious relationship with your girlfriend, and you pulled me aside in the bar, and you were like, ‘Oh if I was single, you are definitely the person I wanted to hook up with.’ And you grabbed me by my waist, and I flicked it off, and I was like, ‘F*ck you.'”

“Then the end of Season 3,” Daisy continued, “you pulled me aside, down on the pontoon when we were having a party, and you were like, ‘I really wanna kiss you.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, well, this is awkward because you’re in a serious relationship.’ So I walked away.”

At this point, Andy woke up from his utter shock and realized he had a program to run. “So if those things are true … ” he started to say.

“I’ve always had a crush on Daisy, yeah,” Colin confessed, “and I told her that to her face.”

What about the kiss with Alex?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Let me ask you this,” Andy began. “If you all had hooked up before the season started, why hide that?”

“Why make out with Alex?” Alex asked, getting a good laugh from everyone.

In her defense, Daisy claimed that she wasn’t trying to start a relationship with Colin. “I wasn’t like, I kissed this guy three times, so now I’m in a relationship. [Plus] I didn’t know about his current girlfriend that he was hooking up with … When he told me about this girl, it made me take a step back. Yes, I was still hooking up with him. Guess what? I’m 36 in 2023, I can kiss multiple people and not feel ashamed for it.”

They weren’t yet sleeping together at that point, according to Daisy, and Colin had said he was sleeping with someone else, so they were still “figuring things out.” The extremely drunken kiss with Alex during a game of Truth or Dare was “not very affectionate,” even though she says now she’d “happily kiss Alex at any time.”

“It was a lot deeper than that, Daisy, and you know that,” Colin added. “I was sleeping with this other girl on my boat, yes. I was telling her about Daisy, and I was telling Daisy about Brit. It was all out in the open.”

“I didn’t know about this girl,” Daisy argued, starting to get a little emotional. “I owe you the truth, but you don’t owe me the truth?”

Colin argued, “I told you everything about her, Daisy.”

“Not until we got to the boat,” Daisy corrected him.

Is Colin gaslighting Daisy or is it the other way around?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“This is why it’s toxic, Andy,” Colin said. “Can you see?” So Daisy being hesitant to have a relationship with a guy who was sleeping with another girl is toxic? I guess I must be toxic, too, then because that doesn’t sound like fun to me.

“Yeah, ’cause I’m a crazy bitch,” Daisy shrugged.

“I’ve just sat back and chosen this to be my moment to explain some very important details,” Colin added, “as to why I was so hurt during the season, why it was so confusing. And I think anyone who can sit – I think only Daisy can sit there with zero remorse and turn this around on me. It’s a unique skill.” I feel like Colin’s gaslighting Daisy at this point. He was sleeping with another girl, and yet his feelings were hurt that she had had a fling with Gary in the past? Come on, Colin.

But Andy seemed to jump in on Colin’s side. “Daisy, are you gaslighting him?” he asked.

But rather than answering the (stupid) question, Daisy burst into tears and left the room.

“We knew this was going to happen,” Colin said. That was vicious, Colin. He doesn’t seem to have any feelings for her at all. Good riddance, Daisy. You can do better. But not Gary, please.

“You just have to maybe take her feelings into account,” Lucy chimed in. “Listen, I don’t want to involve myself, but she clearly did like you a lot. And you [liked her], too. It’s not a nice situation.” Lucy pointed out that Colin and Daisy had been friends for three years and to lose that is hard.

Daisy returns to the conversation

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Daisy, what made you leave?” Andy asked when Daisy returned to the room.

“I’m f*cked either way,” she said. “I’m always gonna be the angry, crazy woman, and I’m never gonna win. It’s never gonna matter what I say. I’m never gonna get validation of my feelings.”

“I find myself on the defensive,” she continued, through tears. “If I sleep with someone, I’m a slut. If I speak up, I’m angry or toxic. I stay silent, and I’m weak.” She’s not wrong. I think a lot of women feel that way, sadly.

Andy asked Colin, “You had real feelings for Daisy, right?”

“Thousand percent,” Colin admitted. “Totally, the whole way, the whole time … Genuine connection. I did my very f*cking best to try and be with this woman … but she was sort of pushing me away a little bit, trying to figure out if it was real. Unfortunately, by the time she had figured out it was real, I had sort of moved on.”

“You also slept with her when you and I were trying to be together,” Daisy countered.

“I told you about everything,” Colin said, as if that makes it okay.

“You made me feel so guilty about Gary,” Daisy said. “I eventually stopped talking to him, I stopped being friends with him.”

“I was insecure about Gary,” Colin said. “Watching the show, I’ve seen a thousand conversations and acts and all of this stuff that’s just outright shocking to me.”

“But you were also flirting with Ileisha the whole time,” Daisy countered, “and trying to decide if you wanted to be with me or Ileisha.” Wow. Didn’t see that one coming.

Ileisha gets pulled into Daisy and Colin’s drama

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Ileisha, how do you respond to Daisy’s [accusation that Colin] was flirting with you all season?” Andy asked the chef.

Ileisha seemed a little shocked by the allegation. I for one never noticed Colin flirting with her. He was very helpful in the kitchen, but I didn’t see it as flirting with her. Now Chase was another story. He never stopped.

“That’s the first time that I’ve heard that,” Ileisha answered. “Colin and I got on really well from the first minute we met just because of the Aussie-Kiwi [thing]. We just kinda got each other as friends … But I had a boyfriend. I had no idea what was going on with Daisy and Colin.”

“Is anyone gonna back me up on this?” Daisy asked. Crickets.

“That’s fair,” Colin responded. “There’s definitely chemistry between Ileisha and I. We get along so well. Like she said, we’re both from down under … [Is the point of this] for me to apologize for having a pretty good friendship with Ileisha and detract from how you treated me?”

No matter where the blame lies, Daisy was obviously very hurt that things didn’t work out with Colin, and it showed in her emotions. Also, I was starting to wonder as the night went on how many glasses of wine she’d thrown back before the show started.

Gary broke the bro code

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Putting yourself in Colin’s shoes, seeing what he saw between you and Gary,” Andy asked Daisy, “do you understand how he would be rankled or questioning [their relationship]?”

“I feel nothing but remorse and shame for how I behaved with Gary,” Daisy confessed. “I was pushing somebody away because I was scared … of getting hurt.”

“Gary, it seems like you broke bro code a number of times,” Andy said. “He seemed like he was being pretty clear with you, and you were sending him some pretty hardcore mixed messages.” For sure.

While Mads put it all down to “hypocrisy,” Daisy surmised that everyone was “playing games.” Alex and Colin immediately objected to that, both saying, “I wasn’t.”

“Gary, why did you tell Colin you had no interest in Daisy and you were happy they got together, but then you told Daisy you have feelings for her?” Andy asked. “Who’d you lie to?” Oooooh, Andy! Good question. I thought the writers were all out on strike. Did he write that one himself? I’m impressed.

“I probably lied to myself,” Gary admitted. “I think that was my jealous side coming out. Maybe deep down there was something that I felt for Daisy, and I was happy for Colin to be with her. But seeing how it’s worked out right now, how toxic [it’s become], maybe it’s for the best that it didn’t [work out].”

Did Gary have genuine feelings for Daisy?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

“Daisy, do you think Gary has genuine feelings for you,” Andy wondered, “or is he like … a child who wants a toy if someone else is playing with it?” I pick the second one, Andy. Definitely.

“To be honest, I felt like a piece of meat between the two of them,” Daisy answered, still wiping away tears. “I felt like I was a prize … like it was an ego competition. I don’t think Gary had genuine feelings for me.”

“Colin, did you and Daisy feel like you had a genuine possibility for a future together?” Andy asked.

“I was giving it 100%,” Colin responded. “We had some incredible times together, some great memories. But I think, as you’ve probably witnessed tonight, we trigger each other, and it did turn quite toxic towards the end.”

“Daisy, were you in love with [Colin]?” Andy asked.

“No,” Daisy said. I think she’s lying to save face because she’s still wiping away tears. “We definitely had very strong feelings, to a point where we were possibly falling in love, but, no, I wasn’t. I was more betrayed by the fact that he didn’t tell me he was with this girl … I thought we broke up in friendship. And knowing that all of these people in this screen [indicating her castmates] knew this for months before I did, it was humiliating.”

Where do we go from here?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap

Everybody agreed that it was sad that the “Three Amigos” (Gary, Daisy and Colin) are no longer friends, after having been so close.

Andy asked, “Gary and Daisy, where do you two go from here?”

“If we have to work together, we work together,” Daisy responded. “If we happen to be in the same place we talk, but we really don’t have that much of a relationship.”

Then Andy asked Gary, “Where is your friendship with Colin these days?”

“I think Colin and I are pretty good,” Gary said. “We still chat every now and then.”

“We’re friends,” Colin agreed. “Gary messaged me yesterday, saying how am I feeling going into [the reunion]. And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna speak my mind, I’m gonna say some things, but nothing I haven’t said to your face about how I was feeling.’ So we’re okay. I forgave both of them.”

Before closing the show, Andy asked if there was anything the three of them would like to say.

“We literally just banged through all the episodes very recently,” Colin said, “so it’s fresh. There’s a lot of emotion. But I think Gary and I are gonna be okay, and we’ll see about Daisy and I, but I’m open for it.”

After admitting that he and Colin were still friends, Gary addressed Daisy. Saying they have a “rocky relationship,” he added, “If we ever have to work together in the future, it’ll be a professional relationship [yeah, right]. But I don’t think we’re ever going to be how we were, unfortunately.”

Daisy got the last word

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Andy let Daisy have the last word. “I’m sorry for being so emotional,” she said, still wiping her eyes. “That’s what you get for putting your heart on the line. I love them both. They’ve taught me a lot about myself. I have regrets, but I know I have a good heart. I know my intentions were good. Onwards and upwards.”

TELL US – ARE YOU DISAPPOINTED THAT DAISY AND COLIN COULDN’T MAKE IT WORK? DO YOU BLAME GARY’S FLIRTING WITH DAISY FOR THE BREAKUP?

The Gory Animated Series Burning Up the Netflix Charts

This thrilling Netflix anime delivers a timeless epic!

The Big Picture

  • Blood of Zeus Season 2 delivers an engaging Greek mythology-inspired tale.
  • Original characters enhance the narrative, with Heron embodying existentialism, Alexis serving as a moral guide, and Seraphim seeking redemption.
  • The animation brings thrilling action sequences to life, creating a captivating interpretation of Greek mythology, bolstered by the intriguing character arcs.

The second season of the beloved Netflix anime Blood of Zeus , has arrived, and it delivers another epic tale for subscribers . The anime follows Zeus’ ( Jason O’Mara ) illegitimate son, Heron ( Derek Philips ), tasked with saving Olympus and Earth despite the interference of his long-lost half-brother Seraphim ( Elias Toufexis ) and the upheaval among the gods. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the series’ second season premiere was worth the four-year wait based on its 100% score for both seasons . The series creates a well-paced tale, immersing audiences in a world where Greek mythology comes to life, with reinterpretations of gods and monsters, original characters, a new story, and beautiful animation .

The show is engaging for fans of Greek mythology through its interpretations of well-known gods, monsters, and settings. It is also a delight for general audiences with original characters and a new story for fans of fantasy, action, and anime. Some of the original characters include Heron, Alexis ( Jessica Henwick ), Kofi ( Adetokumboh M’Cormack ), and Seraphim to ground the narrative while expanding upon its otherworldly destinations like Mount Olympus and the Underworld .

Blood of Zeus

A commoner living in ancient Greece, Heron discovers his true heritage as a son of Zeus, and his purpose: to save the world from a demonic army.

'Blood of Zeus' Is Full of Epic Quests with Epic Character Arcs

Many of the show's original characters give the audience a new perspective on Greek mythology as the characters navigate a world of gods and monsters. Heron, as the focal character, shows his perspective from being ostracized in a small village, to learning that he is a demigod who embarks on epic quests. The second season, in particular, uses his character to embody existentialism, as he fears not being remembered after dying . Alexis seems to be a guide for Heron as she helps him understand various supernatural aspects of the narrative. In the second season, she becomes more of a moral guide for Heron to convince him to help those who hurt him in the past and warn him when his newfound demigod powers are hazardous to his allies. Kofi aids Heron and Alexis throughout the series and his motivations seem to be based on his faith in the gods, as he hopes the Fates ( Jennifer Hale ) help him restore his honor, and also help Heron with his quest, since it was given to him by Gaia, a personification of the Earth.

Although introduced as a demon, Seraphim demonstrates the path a person may follow if the Greek gods are not in his favor. Seraphim has been an antagonist of the series, and he is given a lot of focus through his backstory as he continues his murderous quest for vengeance. As Heron finds strength in learning about his connection to the Greek gods, Seraphim finds a cause for a lot of the strife he has endured during his life. Zeus and Hera ( Claudia Christian ) admit to many attempts at keeping him alive while separated from his birth mother and facing many challenges. However, the second season gives him the opportunity for redemption as he helps Hades ( Fred Tatasciore ) in exchange for alleviating the suffering of someone he loved in the Underworld.

Building on the Symbolism of the Greek Gods

The second season’s introduction of new characters like Hades and Persephone ( Lara Pulver ), provides the opportunity to see the series’ interpretation of the Underworld. The show introduced Mount Olympus as an extension of the Earth that seems easier for mortals to traverse, while entry into the Underworld seems to only be accessible to the deceased and Olympians. The series, especially through Hades ' perspective, offers a grim view of the Underworld , not because of the dead, but from the lack of opportunities he has to enjoy the world of the living. The series expands on this interesting take on Hades as an emotional and philosophical journey for audiences.

The introduction of Hades strengthens the allure of the show by giving audiences another morally ambiguous and complicated character, like Seraphim, that audiences can loathe and sympathize with as the narrative progresses. Additionally, Hades shares thematic components from Heron and Seraphim’s character arcs. Similar to Heron, he suffered consequences for doing what he assumed was fair and considerate of everyone else’s needs, and similar to Seraphim, he has vengeful tendencies that may hurt those he loves.

The utilization of Gaia is an interesting way to expand on crucial characters in Greek mythology that are not technically classified as gods but serve an equal, if not greater, role. The series introduces the Fates, who help Heron on his journey and warn him of his upcoming demise through their precognition as an embodiment of who they are while distancing themselves from the other gods. The anime expands on Gaia’s significance through the way she commands the Olympians , and her presence, which surpasses many others in the way she talks to and influences Heron about prophecies and Kofi’s beliefs regarding the Earth.

10 Must-Watch Movies for Fans of Worldwide Mythology

'blood of zeus' is full of engaging and exhilarating animated action.

For fans of Netflix’s Castlevania , and Castlevania: Nocturne , the show is a great way to see more thrilling action sequences which are carried out by engaging characters in fantastical landscapes. Aside from the incredible background and character designs, the series’ fluid and tense animation makes each action impactful whether a character is gazing at a sunset or slitting a monster’s throat.

Blood of Zeus stands out among Netflix's other content by taking a bold reinterpretation of a well-known mythology and using the limitless capabilities of animation. Greek mythology has been adapted across many mediums before, but rarely has an animated project attempted one so faithfully to the era the myths originated. Using the medium of animation grants the series the opportunity to create a narrative, free from the restrictions of live-action and concern about photo-realistic qualities.

The Netflix anime creates a bold and captivating approach to interpreting tales from Greek mythology. The narrative’s focus on brothers who have had contradictory experiences with the gods , with Heron being a demigod and Seraphim being betrayed by them, opens the series to tackling more viewpoints than a typical action-adventure. The use of new characters to endear a general audience , expanding on the meaning behind the domains of well-known gods, and using an imaginative medium to create a story whose scope can rarely be captured on-screen.

Blood of Zeus Season 2 is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.

Interview Preparation for Chief Stews! Part 2

by theyachtstew

Today is the final interview related blog post, so I made sure to include 5 inspiring ladies! For Part 1 of Interview Preparation, click HERE .

I’ve asked the below Chief Stews to share what questions they ask EVERY candidate & their top 3 tips for creating an efficient & productive interview environment. I always try to make it as comfortable as possible for the other candidate, adding some more humour at the beginning to help ease the Stew’s nerves. I also have an interview question document  that I go through with every candidate! Preparation is KEY to a successful interview!

Carrie ~ Chief Stewardess of 1 Year

Questions to ask every candidate:.

This may be a funny one, but I always ask if they consider themselves creative. It tells me a lot about what they enjoy doing and the confidence they have in themselves or how I would need to encourage them in that respect.

Top 3 tips to ensure the Interview goes smoothly:

1) Know who you’re interviewing. You have looked through quite a few CVs in the last few days, refresh yourself on who you’re about to interview so you don’t get confused between candidates.

2) Offer them something to drink, make a joke or two, just try to relax them a bit. They will open up and be more honest if they feel connected to you and aren’t as tightly wound with nerves.

3) If you’re interviewing on the vessel, pick an interview spot where you are least likely to get interrupted. Sometimes this is unavoidable, but it can throw off the flow of the interview and distract both of you. The candidate can always meet the rest of the crew after the interview if it goes well!

Cantleigh ~ Chief Stewardess of 2  Years

What are you hoping to get out of yachting?

Is this a long term career where you are aspiring to chief stew, purser or manager etc?

This will normally show me the mind set of how serious the candidate is about yachting.

Dress accordingly

  • Be on time! ( 5 min early is on time for me)
  • Be confident and respectful

Harriet ~ Chief Stewardess of 3 Years

What is a pet peeve of yours? (for example, when cabin mates put the toilet roll in the bathroom on backwards or not at all! its gets me every time!)

  • Be prepared with all your material, and the facts about the job you are offering
  • Be friendly and relax, your candidate is going to be must more honest and open with you if they feel comfortable.
  • Ask questions about there life and find out their interest and try and relate to them if you can. Remember you have to live with this person too!

Alex  ~ Chief Stewardess of 3 Years

  • Tell me about yourself…I know its such cliche, but we all have life story to tell and its important to get to know the person a bit.
  • Why do you want to work in yachting?
  • Where do you see yourself in a few years…People do have dreams and plans and its good to know where they are in that time of their lives…Especially if you are looking for someone to stay longer in the team
  • Might be strange question , but I ask if they grew up with siblings or not…It tells a lot about the person and in 90% of cases I was right.
  • What do you like to do in free time…what excites you and relaxes you, what keeps you sane and happy in life, how do you deal with stress
  • Relaxed atmosphere is important
  • Be nice and friendly
  • Create a good vibe

Meg  ~ Chief Stewardess of 2 Years

part 2 the yacht

My number one question is to dive into their background in terms of living situation. The reason for this is that I feel previous experience with living away from home or living in shared accommodation is vital for junior/green crew. As much as I love taking on green stews, I have had some bad experiences with taking on girls who have never lived away from home. They have finished school/university/their job and come straight onto the boat. While I am sure this could work, my experience is that the change is quite significant and often too shocking for some. In my experience, this became more of a mothering situation, rather than a mentoring role. While I believe a chief stew should largely take on that ¨motherly¨ position for the crew, often chief stews are also out to have some fun and not worry about everyone all the time.

Other questions I like to ask:

– Talk me through the next 5 years.

For me, a response to this question says 1000 words! I used to hope that everyone would say something along the lines of ¨working towards a senior positions¨ etc but I have come to realise that not everyone is in yachting for a life long career….and that´s ok! If the industry was filled with crew all wanting to progress and make it to the higher ranked positions, it would be even more saturated and competitive than it already is.

So long as you are willing to give the position your all, and grow within yourself and the position during your time onboard, I have no problem with someone admitting that they have no intention of spending too long in yachting, or that their main focus is monetary gain. I think too many candidates immediately answer the question with ¨hopefully on my way to Chief Stew in 5 years time¨ without thinking about what they´re saying.

Before you´ve tried the new flavour of the month ice cream at the local cafe down the road, you don´t commit to eating this, and only this, for the next 5 years. You wait until you try it and then base a decision on this.

For me, a junior or green stew should approach yachting with the same mindset. Before trying the interior department, how do you know that you want to work towards chief stew. Do you really know what a chief stew does? Do you really enjoy guest interaction at this guest standard? Don´t be afraid to admit that you´re open to yachting as a career (if thats the truth) and that after experiencing yachting and interior duties specifically, as well as being exposed to some good training, this will guide your development plans.

– How did you hear about yachting?

Now this one makes me laugh sometimes, as the usual response these days is ¨my friend started yachting and said I would enjoy it¨.

While this is perfectly fine, and shows some spontaneity in your personality, I find that it often hints at a candidate´s reasons for joining yachting. Too often young yacht crew join the industry with the idea that you get paid to travel… forgetting the hard work, grit and determination it takes to survive in the industry.

-If the candidate is older than me, I always ask them the question, ¨would you feel uncomfortable or intimidated at any point being managed and lead by someone younger than you¨.

Most often than not, people say they will not be affected by this, however I do find that their response, or hesitation in response, can tell you a lot about future problems.

Top 3 tips to ensure the Interview goes smoothly.

1. Do not schedule back to back interviews, as you would never want to rush one interview, just to make another.

2. Break the ice from the beginning. Try to relax the candidate by introducing yourself and telling them a bit about you. I always like to tell a candidate a little about my introduction to yachting or where I´m from. Also, I make it very clear from the beginning, that I would prefer candidates to ask questions throughout the interview, rather than at the end. This way it makes it less formal, and also gives me a chance to interact with them more.

3. Always ensure the candidate is clear as to how you will notify them if they are or are not successful in obtaining the position onboard. On the very rare occasion, I have had so many applicants and interviews for a junior stew position that I simply could not get back to each of them. Instead I explained to them at the end of the interview, that should they not have heard back from me via email or phone within 48 hours, they should consider themselves unsuccessful in their application.

However, more often than not, I prefer to give a deadline as to when I will get back to a candidate (usually with a few days). I ensure them that they will hear from me, via phone or email, regardless of whether or not they were offered the position. It does´t take very long to send out an email to all unsuccessful candidates, but I think it shows professionalism and can encourage green crew to keep going.

I really hope the past two weeks of Interview Blog Posts have been helpful! The amount of encouragement & wisdom within The Yacht Stew Community is just AMAZING. So thank you to the above ladies for being apart of this project.

Orcas attack, sink sailing yacht in Strait of Gibraltar

part 2 the yacht

Excitement on the water off Southern California is at an all-time high with pod of killer whales hanging around for a month Newport Beach, CA - January 09: Orcas swim off the coast of Crystal Cove State Park in Newport Beach on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. For nearly a month, orcas have been swimming off Southern California, feasting on dolphins and attracting people to see these majestic mammals in nature. (Photo by Mark Rightmire/MediaNews Group/Orange County Register via Getty Images) (MediaNews Group/Orange County Re/MediaNews Group via Getty Images)

In a frightening attack that has become a trend in the past four years, an unknown number of orcas rammed and sank a sailing yacht in Moroccan waters in the Strait of Gibraltar, Spain’s maritime rescue service reported early this week. They said they did not know how many of the apex predators were in on the attack.

>> Read more trending news

The Alboran Cognac, a 15-meter (49-foot) yacht, was carrying two people when the boat encountered the animals, also known as killer whales, at 9 a.m. local time (7:00 GMT) on Sunday.

The passengers said they felt sudden blows to the hull and rudder as water started seeping into the ship, according to NBC News. After calling for rescue services, the passengers fled to a nearby oil tanker that took them to Gibraltar.

The yacht eventually sank.

The incident was the latest report of orca ramming around the Gibraltar Strait that separates Europe from Africa and off the Atlantic coast of Portugal and northwestern Spain. A research group called GTOA, which tracks populations of the Iberian orca subspecies, said there have been nearly 700 interactions since orca attacks on ships in the area were first reported in May 2020, NBC News reported .

Experts are confused about the probable causes. One theory is that it is a playful manifestation of the animals’ natural curiosity. Others believe it may be a fad among the highly social orcas, or deiberate targeting of what they believe to be competitors for their favorite prey, the bluefin tuna.

Experts believe the attacks involve a subpopulation of about 15 orcas that have been given the designation Gladis, Reuters reported .

Bruins' Brad Marchand: Injuring opponents 'part of playoffs'

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand said  Sam Bennett "got away with one" when he struck Marchand's head in Game 3, but that opponents seeking to injure each other is just a part of playoff hockey.

"People don't want to say it, but part of playoffs is trying to hurt every player on the other team. The more guys you take out, the more advantage your team has," said Marchand, speaking for the first time after leaving Game 3 against the Florida Panthers with an injury.

"Every time you step on the ice, someone is trying to hurt someone. That's just how it goes in the playoffs. That's part of the benefit of having a physical group. That's why you rarely see teams that are small and skilled go far. Because they get hurt," he said.

Marchand missed the past two games of the series, with the Bruins losing Game 4 but avoiding elimination with a Game 5 win in Sunrise, Florida. Game 6 is scheduled for Friday night in Boston, with Florida leading the series 3-2.

Coach Jim Montgomery was hopeful that Marchand could return to the Bruins for Game 6 but stressed that his captain has "got boxes to check" before being cleared for the game. He's officially day-to-day with an upper-body injury. One encouraging sign for Marchand and Boston: He took regular line rushes and was on the first power-play unit in practice Thursday.

The Bruins would welcome him back, as Marchand has 10 points in 10 games (3 goals, 7 assists), tied for the team lead in scoring with Jake DeBrusk .

Marchand's injury might have resulted from a controversial play involving Bennett. As Marchand went to hit Bennett near the benches, Bennett appeared to throw a gloved punch with his right hand as they made contact. Bennett has denied throwing a punch.

"I'm trying to brace myself. There's no way I would have had time to think about punching him in the face like everyone," he said after Game 4.

Marchand called Bennett "an extremely physical player" who does great work for the Panthers. Bennett wasn't penalized on the play and did not receive any supplemental discipline from the NHL Department of Player Safety.

"I think he got away with a shot. But I'm not going to complain. S--- happens. That's part of playoff hockey, I've been on the other side of a lot of plays," Marchand said.
