Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Restaurants Guide

This article discusses the restaurants at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club. We’ll preview a list of restaurants for both resorts and then provide an individual overview of each one.

Some dining options might not be so obvious when you stay at either Disney’s Beach or Yacht Club. While the resorts have adequate table-service restaurants and lounges, the quick-service locations are insufficient.

We recently spent an entire week at the Yacht Club and used a few loopholes to do well with dining. However, I overheard multiple guests complaining about the lack of restaurants during our stay.

Most mornings, I woke up early and jogged or walked around Crescent Lake. Twice, I ran into guests asking cast members where they could eat breakfast. One of those guests, an older gentleman, exclaimed, “You mean this restaurant is the only place I can get breakfast at this hotel,” referring to Ale and Compass.

In both situations, the guests were frustrated. You pay a premium price to stay at a hotel, and the quick service options are stuck inside a hotel gift shop–most of them premade–and room service hasn’t been available in years!

We go on and on about the Disney Beach and Yacht Club. It’s our favorite place to stay in all of Walt Disney World! So, I felt it was important to update our dining guide for the resorts and share these frustrations. You are not alone.

But I sincerely believe you can do well for breakfast and most other meals without always needing a dining reservation at a table service restaurant. So, let me share what’s available with a few tips to enhance your vacation instead of leaving you frustrated!

Beach Club Marketplace is the primary quick-service restaurant on the Beach Club side of the resort. It’s located off the resort’s lobby.

Part of the Beach Club Marketplace is the Beach Club’s gift shop . The other half offers grab-and-go items, regular menu items, and a beverage station.

Beach Club Marketplace serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is usually open from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. You can preview the Beach Club Marketplace Menu on Disney’s site.

You can get a few decent items for breakfast, like breakfast sandwiches, a Bounty Platter (bacon, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit), and Mickey waffles.

However, lunch and dinner items are pretty limited. Those items include a pulled pork sandwich, a foot-long all-beef hot dog, baked macaroni and cheese, a roasted half-chicken dinner, and a garden salad.

Kids’ meals include a turkey sandwich, PB&J Uncrustable, baked mac and cheese, and a hot dog. If you want chicken nuggets, you’ll need to pick them up at Hurricane Hanna’s.

In addition to menu items, Beach Club Marketplace has a good deal of premade grab-and-go items. Here are a few photos from a recent visit.

If you are a chocolate lover, you’ll want to try the plant-based chocolate brownie with icing. A cast member shared that it was a guest favorite, so I tried it on a previous visit. It was delicious!

Unfortunately, this location does not have a formal indoor seating area. However, you can enjoy your meal in the nearby Solarium. Additionally, a separate covered outdoor patio with tables and chairs is available across the walkway.

For more specifics about this location, we have an entire review of Disney’s Beach Club Marketplace . It includes photos of everything you can expect at this quick service.

The Market at Ale and Compass is almost identical to Beach Club Marketplace. The Market is down a hall, only a few steps from the Yacht Club’s lobby.

This location offers mainly grab-and-go style sandwiches, salads, and pastries. However, a few made-to-order selections are available.

The Market area at Ale and Compass

Hours of operation are daily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. The Market serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Limited seating is available inside.

For breakfast, items include breakfast sandwiches, a breakfast bowl (scrambled eggs, a Mickey waffle, potato barrels, bacon, and a biscuit), Mickey waffles, and oatmeal.

Lunch and dinner items include premade cold sandwiches, premade salads, a grilled chicken panini, a Cuban sandwich, and a ham and cheese sandwich. Kids’ meals include a ham sandwich, turkey sandwich, mac and cheese, or grilled cheese.

Additionally, The Market has a relatively extensive list of specialty coffee drinks. So, this is an excellent stop to pick up a caffeinated beverage.

Rapid Fill Mugs

We didn’t dine at The Market at Ale and Compass or Beach Club Marketplace during our stay. However, two in our group purchased a Rapid Fill mug from The Market at Ale and Compass.

At the time of this update, mugs are $21.99 and can be used at any resort quick service with a refillable beverage station for the length of your stay. So, for these resorts, you can refill them at either quick service or Hurricane Hanna’s by the pool.

Tip: If you visit any other resort’s quick service, you can use the mugs there. For instance, if you take the Skyliner to Primo Piatto at the Riviera for breakfast, take your mug with you.

Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill

Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill is a quick-service dining location at Stormalong Bay . For those unfamiliar, Stormalong Bay is the pool area shared between the resorts. It’s so large that it has its own name.

Hurricane Hanna’s is usually open daily from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. They serve standard items like burgers, chicken nuggets, and salads. Here is a preview of their menu. (Those frozen grapes make for an excellent treat at the pool.)

Yacht Club Restaurant Menu

They have a separate cocktail menu.

Seating at Hurricane Hanna’s is available outside of the pool area. However, if you’re at the pool, a server is usually available to take your order during the busier portions of the day.

Seating area at Hurricane Hanna's

On a past visit, we rented a cabana at Stormalong Bay and ordered lunch from the poolside quick service. I got the grilled chicken sandwich.

Over the years, we’ve ordered food from Hurricane Hanna’s and taken it back to our room. This spot has always been our go-to location for allergy-friendly chicken nuggets when staying at the resort.

You’ll find three lounges between Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club. I use the word lounge loosely because they are all excellent locations to enjoy dinner without a dining reservation.

We’ve had dinner at all three locations and consider each a bit of a hidden gem. First, we’ll discuss Ale and Compass Lounge, the primary lounge off the Yacht Club’s lobby.

This location is open daily from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Several items from Ale and Compass Restaurant are available on the lounge menu.

Those items include hearth-oven flatbreads, Parker House rolls with spreads, roasted Buffalo-style cauliflower, blue crab bisque, roasted garlic shrimp, and the bacon and Vermont cheddar burger.

Crew’s Cup Lounge

You’ll find Crew’s Cup Lounge next to Yachtsman Steakhouse. Crew’s Cup appears to be a bit of a hole in the wall. But once you spend a few moments inside, you’ll be glad you decided to stop. It’s one of the friendliest places on the property.

Disney's Yacht Club Restaurants

Crew’s Cup has a menu with a few offerings from Yachtsman Steakhouse. A menu is posted outside the entrance.

On this stay, we were allowed to order steaks from Yachtsman along with their delicious bread service. Since we had a younger member in our party, they also provided us with a kids’ menu.

Unfortunately, it was so dark I didn’t get great pictures. We had the ribeye and roasted prime rib. Other menu options included lobster corn chowder, Caesar salad, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and a charcuterie board.

You may remember we tried the charcuterie board on a previous visit. It was a tasty option that was more than enough to make a meal.

Related: Crew’s Cup Lounge at Disney’s Yacht Club

Lastly, Martha’s Vineyard is a lounge located on the Beach Club side of the resort. This location offers a tasty New England Clam Chowder.

I often stop here for a bowl on cooler evenings. The chowder is delicious and comes with a side of cornbread. (This chowder is supreme over the one at Beach Club Marketplace.) You can also order items like loaded potato barrels, Buffalo-glazed wings, mussels, and more.

Seafood Chowder from Martha's Vineyard at the Beach Club

If you’re looking for a cocktail or a meal, I wouldn’t hesitate to try any of the lounges. They are much more appealing than either of the resort’s counter services.

Ale and Compass is a restaurant that we frequent year-round. This trip was no exception. If you were to look at our receipts from our stay, you’d see one line item after another that said, “Ale & Compass.”

This is also our loophole location for dining at the resorts. Yes, it’s a table service restaurant. But they offer mobile ordering.

Ale and Compass serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are open most of the day. But they close around 2:00 p.m. and reopen at 5:00 p.m. for dinner service.

We enjoy having breakfast inside the restaurant from time to time. This location has a popular breakfast buffet that includes an entree for a reasonable price.

Those chocolate waffles are one of the entrees, and they are every bit as delicious as they look. They come topped with mascarpone, cherries, and chocolate shavings.

chocolate waffles with bacon from Ale and Compass

We have also enjoyed many other menu items for lunch and dinner at Ale and Compass. But our favorite thing to do when staying at the hotel is to order takeout and enjoy it at the pool.

Since the feature pool opens at 10:00 a.m., we ordered breakfast at 9:30 a.m. each day of our stay. It was usually ready by 9:50 a.m. So I would pick up our order and get in line to rope drop the pool. (It’s a very popular pool.)

Each day of our stay, we enjoyed breakfast at the Stormalong Bay Pool. Honestly, it was our favorite part of the trip!

breakfast at Disney's Yacht Club

A few mornings, I had blueberry pancakes. Oh, and the best part? This item below is a kids’ meal other than the coffee. For a reasonable price, you receive two pancakes and two sides. I chose roasted sweet potatoes and sausage.

pancake with sausage from a Disney Yacht Club Restaurant

The first evening before everyone arrived, I enjoyed a cheeseburger with fries and broccolini at the pool. This was another mobile order kids’ meal from Ale and Compass.

cheeseburger from Disney's Yacht Club

I cannot stress enough how much we love this location for table-service dining and to-go orders. It is so simple to order your food and pick it up.

If you don’t want to dine at the pool, you can find a seat in the neighboring lounge or return to your room. And if you don’t want to pay a table service price, mobile order a kids’ meal. It will be a better quality than what’s available at the quick service. (However, note that kids’ meals are not an option for adults when dining inside the restaurant.)

Parker House Rolls at Disney's Yacht Club

Most everyone planning a stay at either Disney’s Beach or Yacht Club will want to secure a reservation for Beaches and Cream Soda Shop. This diner-style restaurant is located directly behind Stormalong Bay.

Beaches and Cream serves burgers, fries, grilled cheese, and onion rings. They also have an array of popular sundaes, milkshakes, and banana splits for dessert.

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop takes walk-ups based on availability. However, to ensure a table, you will want to make reservations. Due to the restaurant’s popularity, reservations are sometimes difficult to obtain.

However, if you’re only going for ice cream or would like a treat to enjoy by the pool, you’re in luck! Beaches and Cream has a walk-up window that serves ice cream only.

You can get pretty much everything except the kitchen sink! Well, actually, you can get the kitchen sink. Just make sure you have someone(s) to help you.

Here is the menu description: Scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Cookies ‘n Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip topped with Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, SNICKERS® pieces, Fresh-baked Brownie, and smothered in every additional topping we have. Also available are Chocolate Lovers or Neapolitan. (Serves Four)

Beaches and Cream To-Go Window

Cape May Cafe is located on the Beach Club side of the resort. This restaurant offers two unique dining experiences. First, they have a daily breakfast buffet from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

This meal is considered character dining and referred to as Minnie’s Beachside Bash. Characters at this meal include Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Goofy.

Breakfast items include salted caramel beach buns, oatmeal, grits, cheddar biscuits and gravy, omelets, carving stations, fruits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and more.

For dinner, Cape May Cafe is open from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. This meal is a seafood-and-more dinner buffet.

Cape May’s seafood buffet includes clams, shrimp, mussels, pasta, soups, salads, roasted beef, desserts, and more. However, it’s important to note that this meal is not character dining. Characters only appear at breakfast.

Unfortunately, snow crab legs are no longer part of the all-you-can-eat buffet. At the time of this article, an order of extra crab legs cost $29.00 per pound.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is a signature dining establishment on the Yacht Club side of the resort. It’s so good that it’s included in our list of the best signature dining options at Disney World . They are open nightly from 5:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Like its name, the steakhouse serves a variety of quality aged in-house meats. The restaurant’s signature steak is the New York Strip.

So far, we’ve tried the filet mignon, ribeye, and prime rib. All were delicious, but the ribeye with blue cheese butter was more than memorable.

Restaurants near Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club

Lastly, we’ll discuss a few dining options near the Beach and Yacht Club. As you probably know, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot are within walking distance of the resorts. So you’ll want to plan some meals when you visit those parks.

Disney’s Boardwalk and the Swan and Dolphin Hotels are also within walking distance. This means you’ll find plenty of table-service dining options within the area. However, quick-service locations are lacking in the entire Epcot Resorts Area .

Dining options at Disney’s Boardwalk include Trattoria al Forno and Flying Fish. You might also get a sandwich or treat at the Boardwalk Deli . (Unfortunately, Big River Grille permanently closed.)

yacht and beach club bars

Disney’s Swan and Dolphin has multiple signature dining options: Il Mulino, Todd English’s Blue Zoo, and Shula’s Steakhouse. Shula’s is one of the best meals we’ve had!

If you’re looking for something more casual, try The Fountain, located on the Dolphin’s first floor. This restaurant is similar to Beaches and Cream and offers diner-style menu items.

And if you prefer to eat outside, the Cabana Bar and Beach Club Grill is by the pool. This location takes walk-ups, and they have several tasty menu options. Additionally, Rosa Mexicano is the resort’s newest restaurant.

Final Thoughts on Dining at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club

When it comes to restaurants, you’ll find plenty of options between Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club. As for a quick meal, remember that mobile ordering from Ale and Compass is your friend.

As far as staying at the resorts, they are pretty hard to beat. While I often complain about the lack of places to enjoy a casual meal in this area, it’s usually our only issue. So, I don’t necessarily mean to put a damper on things by complaining. But it’s something you’ll want to be aware of going into your stay.

What are your thoughts about dining at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club? Do you have a favorite restaurant here?

Hi, I'm Amber the owner of Resorts Gal. We have stayed at every single Disney Resort Hotel. Our philosophy? We believe you can have an incredible time at the resorts without ever setting foot in a theme park. We live near the parks and visit weekly and would love for you to follow along.

Great review! We’ve been to many of the restaurants mentioned and it’s funny because it was the Hurricane Hanna’s that surprised us the most. My sister and I ate there on a whim and I remember talking about it even days later because I couldn’t believe how good it was for a pool bar…lol

Thank you! We love Hurricane Hanna’s, it’s the saving grace for counter service at the resort.

Disney Yacht Club from across the water

Dining at the Disney Yacht Club is the ideal blend of upscale and convenient, with plenty of options. Fitting with the feel of the resort, the dining locations have that county club vibe, even the quick service spots. All the while, the food is high quality and delicious!

The Disney Yacht Club also shares a few of our favorite dining locations with its sister, the Disney Beach Club . Get the best of both worlds with dining at this resort, Yacht Club providing class and Beach Club providing fun.

The galley is always open – disney resorts room service.

Enjoy a meal in the quiet and privacy of your own room with the Disney Resorts Room Service, excellent food options delivered right to your door. Just press “Dining Options” on your in-room phone, place an order, and the food comes to you.

At the Yacht Club, you’ll find typical Disney food options along with some nautical favorites, fitting with the theme of the resort. A delicious lobster and corn chowder or yummy local baked fish are perfect for seafood-lovers, or splurge on a fabulous Maine lobster roll. If you prefer landlubber cuisine, a brick lemon-herb chicken or a bacon cheeseburger will match your tastes. Buffalo wings and fries are always a good choice too if you need something quick and simple. Kids have plenty of their favorite options as well, like chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers.

There are also some awesome dessert options on the menu! If you missed the chance to hit Beaches & Cream, you can order ice cream up to your room. You can even get an entire cake to share, which is nice for a special occasion.

An 18% gratuity, $5.00 delivery charge and 6.5% sales tax will apply to all delivery orders.

The Market at Ale & Compass

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, The Market at Ale & Compass is the main quick service dining option at the Disney Yacht Club. Simply referred to as The Market , you can get a fast and filling meal any time of the day, and take a few minutes to peruse the souvenirs in the adjoining shop.

Especially if you’re in a hurry, The Market is a great place to take advantage of Mobile Order . This awesome service allows you to use the My Disney Experience app to order ahead at quick service locations. That means your food will be ready when you arrive! Pick up your food as you walk in, and head right back out, or stay and enjoy your meal. Either way, it will save you the time of waiting for the food to be prepared.

The Market at Ale & Compass

One of our go-to items at any quick service location is the Breakfast Bowl, with scrambled eggs, a Mickey waffle, bacon, and potato barrels (tater tots). I like to get these sorts of combo meals because they are easy to split, and definitely filling. A top tip is to avoid overeating, especially at breakfast, so splitting this meal is ideal. Also available, try different breakfast sandwiches and a healthier egg-white wrap if you want something of your own. Plain Mickey waffles are always a delicious option!

Snacks are well stocked at The Market, so pick up fruit, yogurt, or milk and cereal if you like to breakfast light. Plenty of yummy treats await you at the bakery as well, the chocolate-hazelnut croissant being one of my breakfast favorites.

Don’t forget to fill your mug with coffee, juice, tea, or milk!

Lunch and Dinner

For these times, a variety of hot or cold sandwiches and salads make for nice, light meals. The Cuban sandwich is one of the most popular hot items, with ham, slow-roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mayonnaise, and mustard all on a hoagie roll served with house-made chips. You can also grab a foot-long chili-cheese hotdog, similar to the gourmet hotdogs served at the Beach Club Marketplace.

Cold sandwiches are great to grab in the morning to take to the parks, or to bring out to eat by the pool. You could even pick one up before you leave, giving you a portable lunch if you’re driving home. Among these are the roast beef sandwich, slices of roast beef topped with horseradish cream, caramelized onions, and arugula all on multigrain bread. Vegetarians will love the roasted vegetable sandwich with roasted Portobello mushrooms, zucchini, red bell peppers, and cauliflower dressed with roasted red pepper hummus, topped with slices of fresh tomatoes and grilled onion served on herb Focaccia bread. Both sandwiches come with house-made chips.

Other Options

Kids have the additional options of grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, a ham sandwich, and an Uncrustable. The children’s meals come with a choice of sides and beverage, making these items a great deal.

The bakery is open all day, so don’t forget to snag something sweet! Sticky buns, chocolate twists, and brownies are all amazing. The bakery also has seasonal cupcakes , each with their own amazing flavor profile and fun decoration!

In the evening, stop by The Market for a variety of beer and wines, which you can enjoy there or take back to your room. If you want something to go, I suggest getting a bottle of wine rather than wine by the glass. You’ll have it for your whole trip, and get more value for your dollar.

There are two main lounges at the Disney Yacht Club – the Ale & Compass Lounge and the Crew’s Cup Lounge. Both are excellent places to relax in the evening, and enjoy a delicious beverage. These are both full bars, so only overage guests are permitted.

The Ale & Compass Lounge

Grab a drink while you wait for your Ale & Compass reservation, or simply lounge in the relaxed atmosphere. The Ale & Compass Lounge is ideal for a relaxing evening or quick bite, all while enjoying a refreshing drink. Opening at 4:00pm and staying open until 10:00pm, this lounge is a great place for an evening hangout.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Monica Glenn (@ftjtravelbymonica)

Healthy-sized appetizers comprise the food options, giving you filling snacks or lighter meals, depending on your plans. Items like the Parker House rolls with assorted spreads – bacon jam, pub cheese, and citrus butter – are great if you just want something to nibble while you drink. Flatbreads and a bacon cheeseburger are perfect for dinner in the lounge, both options are full sized meals.

In addition to the full-bar offerings, the Ale & Compass Lounge has several original cocktails. A twist on a class, the Maple Old Fashioned will give you that New England feeling. Made with Jim Beam Black Extra-aged Bourbon, maple syrup, orange juice, and angostura bitters, this is a great way to change up your regular. For those in a spicy mood, try the Spicy Pomegranate Margarita. Mix Tequila, Ancho Reyes Chile liqueur, pomegranate juice, and simple syrup together to create a zesty and delicious cocktail! A squirt of fresh lime juice on the top adds a bit of tang and cuts the heat.

Enjoy nonalcoholic mixers as well, like a grapefruit spritzer and the No-Kick Mule, just with ginger beer and lime.

Crew’s Cup Lounge

Outside the Yachtsman Steakhouse, the Crew’s Cup Lounge is a nice alternative if you can’t get a reservation at the steakhouse. The Crew’s Cup is also a good place for one of those appetizer as dinner nights, when you’re up to your ears in delicious (but rich!) Disney food.

On the appetizer menu, share a savory and delightful charcuterie and cheese board, coming with different accompaniments depending on the season. For something a little more substantial, the prime rib sliders are perfect, topped with horseradish cream and served on house-made onion rolls. Jumbo shrimp cocktail are always a great option as well, a light snack with just enough protein to get you to your next meal. Have the shrimp with the Yachtsman signature bread to round out a meal.

Crew’s Cup also offers full entrees, so you can add this to your dinner spot list. After 5:00pm, you can get an amazing ten-ounce prime rib, served with mashed potatoes and horseradish cream. For something a little different, try the Twice-fried Green Circle Chicken. Smoked Feta spoon bread and chicken croquettes come with pickled rhubarb and fiddlehead ferns, an interesting take on fried chicken.

You’ll come for the food, but stay for the drinks! Along with an extensive beer, wine, and bourbon selection, Crew’s Cup offers a large variety of signature cocktails. Literally Walk the Plank with an amazing blend of rye whiskey, orange juice, almond liqueur, and lemon juice garnished with Maraschino cherries. Combine the elements of country and tropical vacation with a Whiskey Breeze – Jim Beam Black Extra-aged Bourbon, Cointreau, and lime juice shaken with guava and mango for that aloha vibe. You could also choose to drink your dessert with the Godiva Chocolate Martini. A divine concoction, this martini mixes Godiva chocolate liqueur, Stoli Vanil vodka, Bols White Crème de Cacao, and Frangelico. This sweet treat will warm you from the inside out!

Available for breakfast and dinner, the Ale & Compass Restaurant is a great option for a nice family meal. Especially if you’re looking for a quality table service breakfast, you have to try out the Ale & Compass!

Think breakfast favorites, with an upgrade. The American Breakfast has the right balance of breakfast foods – two eggs any-style, breakfast potatoes, and choice of breakfast meats. Eggs benedict get the added decadence of smoked pork loin, along with herbs and spices in the hollandaise sauce.

While these dishes are amazing, the quick bread breakfast items change the game. No plain French toast here, but instead, we see salted-caramel apple French toast. Two massive pieces of French toast, sliced horizontally, and stuffed with delicious caramel apples. A buttery brown sugar crumble and salted-caramel drizzle tops the slices, completing the picture. However, that isn’t the end. The Dark Chocolate Waffles are to die for! Three thick, circular waffles hold a dried cherry compote, on top of which sits huge dollops of espresso-mascarpone cream, finished with chocolate shavings. It’s a good thing these richly incredible waffles come with a side of breakfast meat to cut through the sweet deliciousness!

Kid’s Meals

For your kiddos, they can get their favorites Mickey waffles or blueberry pancakes if in the mood for something sweet. Scrambled eggs and a mini-breakfast sandwich are great options if they want a savory dish instead.

As always, I recommend splitting an adult meal between two kids. Especially if they want to try something like the chocolate waffles or the French toast, the split is perfect. It actually works out to be cheaper than a kid’s meal!

Ale & Compass does specialty brunches for Easter and Mother’s Day, a great way to treat yourself or Mom! Going to be dining at the Disney Yacht Club during these holidays? You might want to consider an Ale & Compass brunch.

A great mix of surf and turf, Ale & Compass has a dinner menu that will please everyone in your group. To start your meal, try the amazing lobster and corn chowder or roasted garlic shrimp, both coming with house-made items to dip. Smaller plates are available in the form of salads and flatbreads, both meat and vegetables options to fit all dietary needs.

Of the main plates, our favorites would have to be the New England Seafood Pot Pie, braised short ribs, and the brick lemon chicken. For the potpie, it is stuffed full of a plethora of different seafood – shrimp, scallops, lump crab, and the catch of the day. Mixed in are pearl onions, peas, and potatoes, all coated in a creamy seafood cream sauce. The flaky pastry on the outside completes this delectable dish. The short ribs are fall-apart tender, accompanied by a flavorful roasted vegetable mash and barbecue demi sauce for dipping. Alongside the lemon chicken, you’ll love the duck fat-roasted potatoes and veggie sauté. Add truffle fries with a house-made shallot mayo for extra decadence!

If that weren’t enough, the three dessert options will send you right over the edge. Completely plant-based, the mango torte layers mango mousse and spiced lemon pound cake, covered with fresh berries and a raspberry sauce. You could also try the warm apple cobbler served with frozen vanilla custard, or a rich flourless chocolate cake covered in chocolate ganache and offset by a coffee Chantilly cream. Basically, if you’re not rolling out of Ale & Compass, something went wrong with your meal!

Kids have the ability to build their own meals, choosing from a selection of main dishes and sides. Kids that are more adventurous might like the pasta Bolognese or catch of the day, while a cheeseburger is there to save the day for pickier eaters. Side options include sautéed broccolini, macaroni & cheese, corn, and red potatoes, and kid approved! The side menu includes two dessert options – mini ice cream sandwiches and honey-marshmallow s’mores. Kids can choose to get one savory side and one sweet, working their dessert into the price of their meal.

Open only for dinner, the Yachtsman Steakhouse is the signature dining experience at the Disney Yacht Club. Designed to be elegant, upscale, and a true yacht-country club experience, this steakhouse has high quality dishes and a fabulous atmosphere. Yachtsman Steakhouse even has a dress code, heightening the fancy feel of the restaurant.

I recommend making this a date night or adults-only meal. Of course, you can bring your kids, but they need to adhere to the dress code as well. Between that and the sophisticated style of the place, you need to decide if this is the best place to bring your kids.

First Course

Yes, they even refer to the stages of the meal as courses!

First course items include steakhouse staples like a wedge salad, Caesar salad, and French onion soup, all of which are perfect ways to start your evening. If you want to try something a little different, consider the Ahi tuna tartare with a poke vinaigrette and wasabi, or the creamy lobster bisque. You could also get a charcuterie or cheese board to share if you don’t want to fill up before the main meal.

Chef’s Signature Offerings

These three dishes come recommended by the Yachtsman’s chef, and designed to be truly delicious experience. The first is the Chilled Captain’s Tower, a combination of jumbo shrimp, mussels, oyster shooters, scallop ceviche, and charred octopus salad. As the name suggests, the tower is served cold, and is ideal for the true seafood lover. If you prefer your seafood hot, I recommend you try one of the Land and Sea entrees instead.

Both of the other signatures dishes are made to share between two people. The first is a 28-oz prime porterhouse steak, 21-Day dry-aged, with accompaniments of bone marrow, green onion brioche bread, garlic butter, and your choice of two sides. Second is the Chilled Admiral’s Tower, and upgraded version from the Captain’s Tower. In addition to the Captain’s Tower seafood, the Admiral’s Tower also has Maine lobster, snow crab, and tuna tartare. Again, this item is served cold.

Butcher’s Cuts

It is a steakhouse after all, and these steaks are the main event. Filet mignon, prime rib, rib-eye, and New York strip all come cooked to order, with their own incredible seasonings and sauces to bring out the flavor of the meat. Of these, the filet mignon is my personal pick, covered in a cognac-truffle butter that adds to the unctuous nature of the steak.

Each steak comes with your selection of mashed potatoes, potato-leek gratin, sweet potato casserole, house-made French fries, or broccolini. You can also choose to add to your meal one of the signature Steakhouse Sides – truffle macaroni & cheese, creamed spinach, loaded hasselback potato, house-made truffle fries, or braised mushrooms. I suggest getting the broccolini with your meal (you’ll be glad for a vegetable!) and then adding one of the richer steakhouse sides.

Yachtsman Steakhouse offers further enhancements if you want to add to the luxurious nature of your meal. Get your steak Oscar-style, with asparagus, lump crab meat, and a rich béarnaise sauce. You can also add a half lobster, bone marrow, or thick-cut bacon for a little extra richness.

Land and Sea Entrees

Here’s where the hot, succulent seafood pairs with the delicious steakhouse offerings. Whole Maine lobster and Georges Bank Scallops are paired with incredible sauces and accompaniments to bring out their delicate flavors. If you want something unique, you might enjoy the Cervena Elk from the land side, with a parsnip puree and blueberry sauce.

You can also add the bone marrow or half a lobster to the items, or get them Oscar-style.

Yachtsman has several amazing desserts, but my picks would be the chocolate lava cake and the banana bread pudding. Using high quality chocolate, this lava cake is unlike any you’ve ever had. In addition the cake itself, it comes with a refreshing coconut ice cream to cut through the richness and is topping with a raspberry-Chambord Sauce and gingersnap crumbs.

The banana bread pudding is warm, comforting, and delicious. Caramelized bananas have the right touch of sweetness, as does the caramel rum sauce on top. A side of butter pecan ice cream ties the whole dessert together.

Disney Yacht and Beach Club Dining

While two separate resorts, the Disney Yacht Club shares a few dining locations with the Disney Beach Club. Of course, if you’re staying at either, it is easy to pop over to the other resort to enjoy the dining options. After all, the resorts share a pool area, they’re that close together!

However, two dining spots are right in the middle of the Disney Yacht & Beach Club that you’ll want to check out!

Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill

Out by the pool, Hurricane Hanna’s is the main pool bar and eatery for Stormalong Bay. This is a great place for you to get a poolside lunch or refreshing beverage, especially if you don’t want to have to trek back to your room. Don’t let the fact that this is a pool bar fool you, Hurricane Hanna’s has some delicious options!

Much like other pool bars, Hurricane Hanna’s has lighter fare, which is what you want out of a meal by the pool. Grab a cool Greek or Caesar salad, perfect for a hot day and a light lunch. If you want to make your salad a bit more substantial, you can add chicken for that extra protein. The rest of the savory items are sandwiches, again ideal for poolside eating. The Italian Focaccia and turkey and Swiss sandwiches are both delicious, but our favorite is the seafood roll. Fresh seafood comes tossed in a citrusy mayo dressing, with just the right amount of zing. All three sandwiches come with house-made chips, which gives just the right touch to the meal.

What would a bar be without amazing drinks! Hurricane Hanna’s has two specialty cocktails you’re going to love – the Category 5 and Storm Chaser. Category 5 has that pirate feel that will have you singing Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate’s life for me! With Captain Morgan spiced rum, crème de banana, peach schnapps, you’ll be feeling the island vibes in no time; add in a mix of orange and pineapple juices and a splash of grenadine to balance out the drink. If that wasn’t enough, the Category 5 also comes with a float of Gosling’s 151 Rum.

Meanwhile, the Storm Chaser is made with vodka, Bacardi superior rum, blue curacao, and sweet-and sour. A splash of Sprite brings a touch of sweetness and effervesce for a tropical buzz. Between these drinks and the beaches of Stormalong Bay, you’ll forget you’re not on a cruise !

Aside from these drinks, enjoy plenty of other cocktails on the rocks or frozen, as well as a wide variety of beer and wines. We recommend the Sunshine Margarita, a Disney poolside staple, or the Frosé, a frozen concoction of rosé mixed with vodka. Both are refreshing, and perfect for a sunny day by the pool.

For the kids and nondrinkers in your group, there are sweet and cool smoothie options as well as some virgin version of your favorites.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember, and it is still one of my favorite places to visit. I can’t tell you how many fond memories I have of sitting out in front of the quick service window, waiting for our No Way José to appear. And then watching it disappear in a matter of minutes! Our family is decided ice-cream lovers, and Beaches & Cream never disappoints.

Beaches & Cream opens every day at 11:30am, providing a place to get a fun and delicious diner meal for lunch or dinner. You can always skip straight to dessert…many people do! Beaches & Cream is also open until 9:00pm, making it a great place to stop after a day at Epcot or on a walk around the boardwalk. This is usually when we stop by, after touring through the other resorts in the area or playing a round of mini-golf. It’s a great way to finish an evening!

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amanda Smolko (@a_bookish_baker)

Beaches & Cream has a reputation for fantastic and fanciful desserts, but that’s not all there is to this location. The menu features delicious savory foods as well, combining diner favorites with a touch of table service sophistication. A nostalgic, 1950s diner feel makes this bright and fun location just a great place to hang out. Especially with the recent remodel, the larger space and new décor adds something to the atmosphere.

Diner Delights

Start with a classic cheeseburger, grilled cheese, or French dip sandwich. You could also go for two of the most popular items, the cheddar bacon-ranch chicken sandwich or house-made Reuben. It wouldn’t be a diner if you couldn’t get French fries or onion rings on the side, but Beaches & Cream added tater tots to their menu with the reopening! All your favorite loaded fry options now come in tot form, so if you’re a tot lover, you have to check these out.

Even though they are not listed on the menu right now, in the past Beaches & Cream has had a variety of salads to balance out the sandwich options, as well as a few seafood dishes. What’s great about Disney dining is that they are always rotating your options to keep things fresh, so be on the lookout for new additions!

You can always swing by the pickup window and take your lunch back to the pool, or enjoy your meal at the limited outdoor seating. However, if you definitely want to sit inside for the whole experience, a reservation is a must. Beaches & Cream is quite popular!

Soda Shop Marvels

Alright Mom, I had my dinner, now can I have dessert?

These incredible sweet treats will have you feeling like a kid again, and cause the actual kids in your group to go bananas!

To begin, you can get a classic strawberry shortcake or brownie a la mode. While both are delicious, these items are definitely elsewhere around Disney World , so we suggest going for one of the unique options that makes Beaches & Cream special. You’ll find these delicious delights on the Sundaes on the Beach section of the menu, and you’re going to be overwhelmed by your choices!

As I mentioned before, we are partial to the No Way José, an out of this world peanut butter and hot fudge masterpiece that features both chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Not enough? How about some chocolate pieces and whipped cream on top? Perfect.

The Fudge Mud Slide and Snickers Sundae are both similar to the No Way José, with three scoops of ice cream each, covered in chocolate, and topped with cookie pieces and Snickers bars respectively. You can also go for classics like a banana split or three-scoop sundae, giving you the chance to build your own delicious dessert

Even with all these other choices, the real star of this show is the infamous Kitchen Sink . Getting its name from the phrase “everything but the kitchen sink,” you won’t believe it until you see it. With eight scoops of ice cream, all the toppings in the store , huge chunks of cake, and an entire can of whipped cream , this sundae is no joke. The menu says that it serves four, but it really feeds more like six or eight. Recently, Beaches & Cream has added a Chocolate Lovers and Neapolitan option as well, which focuses more on these flavors.

Grabbing something to go? You can get a plain scoop of hand-dipped ice cream on cone or in a cup, or slurp up a rich milkshake. These are great if you’re planning to eat or drink as you walk, while meeting the need for a sweet treat.

No matter what dining option you choose at the Disney Yacht Club, you’re going to leave satisfied…and wanting to come back for more!

Resort Information: Yacht and Beach Club – Dining

This is a continuation of a new series taking a comprehensive look at all of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. There will be several posts on each resort looking at pools, dining, shopping, and other amenities.

General Information

As expected from Walt Disney World deluxe resorts, the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts have numerous dining options. With several table service restaurants as well as a few places to have a quick bite and even a drink, there is plenty of choice available at these resorts.

Quick Service

The only quick service establishment is the Beach Club Marketplace. Located on the first floor near the lobby, the Marketplace also serves as the primary shop for the Beach Club Resort. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served from the small counter in corner of the space ( Beach Club Marketplace menus ) and the food is classic, but good quality. Limited seating is available in the hallway adjacent to the Marketplace with quite a bit more in the covered walkway leading from the Marketplace’s hallway to the Beach Club Villas.

Table Service

The primary table service restaurant at the Beach Club Resort is Cape May Cafe, which is open for breakfast and dinner. The restaurant can be found just off of the lobby. Breakfast is a buffet of classic fare that is also a character meal with Goofy, Donald Duck, and Minnie Mouse normally in attendance. Dinner is also a buffet, although the evening meal is mostly seafood. ( Cape May Cafe menus ) Like much of the Beach Club, Cape May Cafe is decorated in a light, airy, beachy motif with light wood and glass-enclosed sandcastles.

The Yacht Club has two table service restaurants; Captain’s Grille and Yachtsman Steakhouse. Captain’s Grille is the Yacht Club equivalent of Cape May Cafe. It is also located just off of the lobby and it is decorated very similarly, albeit with darker wood and glass enclosed boats to focus on the nautical themes. The food at Captain’s Grille is similar to Cape May for breakfast and reasonably standard New England fare for lunch and dinner. ( Captain’s Grille menus )

Yachtsman Steakhouse is a high-end steakhouse with a price to match the quality. It is located in the corridor between the Beach and Yacht Club Resorts on the Yacht Club side and is only open for dinner. Yachtsman Steakhouse was undergoing a refurbishment at the time of research, but has since been reopened. ( Yachtsman Steakhouse menu )

Bars/Lounges

If a bar or lounge is what you are looking for, there are a few options at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. At the Beach Club, in the corridor leading towards Yacht Club, you will find Martha’s Vineyard. This lounge is bright and full of pastel colors with a few televisions on the wall. It is fairly non-descript, but serves a range of alcoholic beverages as well as appetizers and light fare.

At the Yacht Club there are two options for lounges. One is located in the resort lobby; Ale and Compass, and is a small open seating area with an equally small counter. Ale and Compass serves a limited menu of snacks and alcoholic beverages. This is also a good spot to get specialty coffee drinks in the morning.

The larger lounge at the Yacht Club is the Crew’s Cup, which is adjacent to Yachtsman Steakhouse. Decorated in all dark wood with a crew boat suspended from the ceiling, Crew’s Cup is a pretty and interesting place to find light food, snacks, and alcholic drinks.

Beaches and Cream is special, which is why it has been placed in its own category. It is located on an exterior cooridor almost directly between the Beach and Yacht Club Resorts, directly adjacent to the center pool entrance. Beaches and Cream serves ice cream treats as well as heartier fare. There is an indoor seating area where you can get desserts and casual food such as burgers and fries. If ice cream is all that interests you, there is also a to go counter. ( Beaches and Cream To Go Menu ) ( Beaches and Cream full menus )

Beaches and Cream is decorated to look like a soda shop from a bygone era and is generally very popular. Unlike most Walt Disney World restaurants, Beaches and Cream does not accept Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs), rather it is first come, first served. Avoiding peak dining times is recommended.

Yacht and Beach Club Lounges

yacht and beach club bars

For the first night of our adults only trip to Disney World for the Food and Wine festival, we decided to do something a little different and not to make dining reservations. This was hard because there are so many great restaurants on property. We instead decided to try appetizers and drinks in the Yacht and Beach Club lounges. The Disney World hotels have great bars and lounges, but usually we are with our children so we do not get a chance to enjoy these more adult spaces.

Our initial plan was to try all the bars/lounges in the Swan and Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Clubs, but after just the Yacht and Beach Club lounges we had enough to drink and eat. There are so many great choices and 3 drinks is more than enough for us old folks, lol. (My 20 something self would have rolled her eyes here!) Here is out our night played out.

After checking into the Swan and Dolphin and dropping our stuff in our room , we walked to the Yacht Club for our first of our Yacht and Beach Club lounges – the Crew’s Cup Lounge . The walk is really pretty in the evening. The lights from the Yacht/Beach Club and the Boardwalk are beautiful.

Disney World Yacht and Beach Club

Stop #1: Crew’s Cup Lounge

The Crew’s Cup Lounge is located in the Yacht Club, very close to the Yachtsman Steakhouse. We loved the rowing theme of this lounge and all the fun details Disney is know for providing. The lights were kept pretty low, but not too low. There were many people, but it wasn’t over crowded. We thought the overall ambiance was very good.

yacht and beach club bars

We sat at the bar, there were football games on the tvs and the bartender was very attentive. I ordered a Rombauer Chardonnay, one of my favorites, and my husband ordered a Whiskey Breeze.

Drinks at Crew's Cup Lounge

We liked the drink and food offerings. There were steaks, sides and desserts along with the appetizers. The menu can be found here . We ordered the truffle fries and the jumbo shrimp cocktail. I am a sucker for truffle fries.

Appetizers and Crew's Cup Lounge

Both were very excellent. We liked that the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were large, but given the price of $21, it should be a given. Our bill for this stop, which included two drinks and two appetizers, was $67+ tip. This is definitely not cheap! But it is Disney, so you know you are going to pay more.

Overall, we loved this lounge. It has a great ambiance and we would definitely return if staying in the area.

Stop #2: Martha’s Vineyard

Our next Yacht and Beach Club lounge was the lounge in the Beach Club, Martha’s Vineyard . Coming from Crew’s Cup, we were disappointed in the ambiance of this lounge. I think most people feel the same as there were only a few other people when we visited. The lighting was much brighter and the decor did not excited us. It kind of reminded us of a Denny’s or similar. There were game shows playing on the TVs, no sports. The ambiance was not what we would have liked from an adult bar/lounge. However, this is a lounge we would feel comfortable bringing our kids.

Disney World Martha's Vineyard

I ordered a Benziger Chardonnay and my husband ordered a smoked Turkey. Both were good.

Drinks at Martha's Vineyard

The menu at this lounge is much smaller than Crews Cup. We ordered the loaded Tater Tots appetizer, as nothing else appealed to us. The tater tots were crispy and good, but the cheese was not. I am not a big fan of the plastic tasting cheese.

Appetizer at Martha's Vineyard

The bill for two drinks and one appetizer was $37.28 +tip. This is definitely a less expensive lounge than Crews Cup, the drinks offered were lower end and the same with the food offerings. We sat at a table in this lounge and the service was definitely slower, but friendly. For us, this was our least favorite lounge stop.

Stop #3: Ale and Compass Lounge

For what turned out to be our last Yacht and Beach Club lounge, we went to the Ale and Compass Lounge in the Yacht Club. This lounge is right off the lobby of the Yacht Club. It has what looks to me like a more modern/trendy lounge theme with a bit of nautical flair.

yacht and beach club bars

This lounge was pretty busy, we had to sit near the entrance, which is a large opening to the lobby. There are basically two areas in this lounge, both themed the same, but divided by a wall with shelving and a fireplace. But it was dark and had sports playing on the tvs so we felt the ambiance was much better than Martha’s Vineyard.

Disney World Ale and Compass Lounge

I ordered Chalk Hill Chardonnay and my husband ordered a Coors Light.

Drinks at Ale and Compass Lounge

Although we were not seated at the bar, we had very good service. We were checked on regularly and our items came out quickly. From the lounge menu , we ordered the Parker House Rolls and Cheeseburger.

Appetizer at Ale and Compass Lounge

The Parker House Rolls were so good! They came with three different spreads. From left to right, Citrus Butter, Bacon Jam and Pub Cheese. My favorite was the Pub Cheese, surprising after just disliking the cheese from the tater tots in Martha’s Vineyard. My husband really liked the Bacon Jam.

Appetizer at Ale and Compass Lounge

The Cheeseburger and fries were also good, although a little messy.

At this point we were realizing that we were tired and getting full so another lounge stop was not going to happen. We decided to end the night here with dessert. We ordered the Twelve Layer Chocolate cake which is on the Ale and Compass restaurant menu.

Dessert at Ale and Compass Lounge

This was a great ending to all our lounge food. Our bill for this stop was $64.70 +tip. Overall, we really liked this lounge. The ambiance was great and we had very good service. The location being open to the lobby is less than ideal, but if sitting closer to the bar, this would not be noticeable.

After we started making our way back to the Swan and Dolphin. We took a quick peek at Stormalong Bay, our favorite pool on Disney property.

Disney World Stormalong Bay

And as we walked toward the Swan and Dolphin, the Epcot fireworks started. This was a great surprise!

Disney World Epcot Fireworks

The perfect end to a fun night.

I’d love to hear of your experience with any of these lounges.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Review (Is it worth it?)

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is one of the most beautiful and convenient hotels in all of Walt Disney World. With its classy design, enormous pool, and prime location, it’s easy to see why the Yacht Club at Disney World is such a highly sought after place to stay.

My family and I have visited numerous hotels on Disney property, but the Yacht Club always keeps us coming back for more. We love the close proximity to Disney’s Boardwalk, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.

The multiple transportation options are a huge plus, especially for those who don’t like to solely rely on Disney buses. And of course we have to mention the Yacht Club’s pool, Stormalong Bay. This elaborate resort swimming area is arguably the best pool at the Walt Disney World Resort!

If you’re still not quite sold on the Yacht Club at Disney World or if you would like more information, continue reading below. In this post, we will cover everything you need to know about this deluxe Disney resort , including the activities, restaurants, and rooms available at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

(This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of these links, I may receive a small compensation at no extra cost to you. Please see my disclosure policy at the bottom of this page for more details.)

Yacht Club Restaurants

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is full of all different types of restaurants. Since this hotel shares dining options with its sister resorts, you’ll find even more places to eat within a short walk of your room.

blue walls and club chairs with sign reading Ale and Compass Lounge

These are the Yacht Club restaurants you will find just a short stroll away:

  • Ale and Compass – sit-down restaurant in the Yacht Club that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (also available to-go)
  • The Market at Ale and Compass – quick service restaurant at Yacht Club with to-go items and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse – fine dining restaurant at the Yacht Club that is open for dinner
  • Crew’s Cup Lounge – bar at the Yacht Club that features a small dinner menu and full bar
  • Cape May Cafe – offers a character meal breakfast buffet and sit-down dinner with no characters
  • Beach Club Marketplace – features to-go items and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Beaches and Cream – available for lunch and dinner with reservations highly recommended
  • Martha’s Vineyard – offers appetizers and full bar
  • Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill – pool restaurant with full bar and lunch/dinner options

Furthermore, the Yacht Club is located just a short walk away from Disney’s Boardwalk , where you’ll find additional restaurants and bars.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is home to the most popular pool on Disney property. It’s such a hit that you’ll find cast members handing out wristbands at the entrance so that only hotel guests can enter.

pirate ship water slide

The main pool, Stormalong Bay, features a large sand bottom swimming area that’s super shallow and great for toddlers and little kids. There’s also a lazy river that’s a fan favorite in my household.

Guests can also enjoy other large swimming areas at Stormalong Bay, including an activities section where you’ll find games like pool volleyball. Stormalong Bay offers a large waterslide as well as a smaller slide that empties into a shallow pool.

empty pool and clubhouse at Yacht Club

In addition to Stormalong Bay, the Yacht Club in Disney World features a “quiet” pool that is seldom busy. This is a great spot to relax or swim laps.

Rooms

My family and I love the nautical decor and ambience of the Yacht Club guest rooms. Additionally, we appreciate that the rooms offer full balconies. In our post on Disney’s Beach Club vs Yacht Club , you’ll read about why these balconies are a major pro for Yacht Club compared to its sister resort.

toilet room, shower, and vanity and Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club features standard rooms and club level rooms. If you book a room with Club Level benefits, you get access to the Regatta Club. Here, you’ll find food and beverages offered at certain times throughout the day.

2 Queen beds and day bed at Yacht Club

Guest rooms at the Yacht Club come with views of the lake, pool, garden, or hotel rooftop/parking lot. These rooms typically feature 1 king bed or 2 queens. Some of them also offer a daybed. This means that if you book a room with 2 queens plus a daybed, you can sleep a family of five!

Prices at Yacht Club

Since Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is classified as a deluxe hotel at Disney World, you’ll notice that the prices are higher than at some of the other hotels. This is because the Yacht Club offers deluxe room space, extra amenities, and a prime location.

We will explain all the significance of all of these perks in more detail below, but it’s important to note that Disney’s Yacht Club truly offers a deluxe experience. The updated guest rooms feature plenty of space, including private balconies. Plus, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of other Disney hotels, restaurants, theme parks, and more.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

If you would really like to experience the location, amenities, and entertainment at the Yacht Club without the hefty price tag, we suggest booking a room at the sister hotel through David’s Vacation Club Rentals. You will be blown away by the cost savings on David’s DVC rental site! We usually save hundreds of dollars per night by using this method to book a room at a deluxe resort.

Just use the cost calculator to see exactly how much a room costs at Yacht Club’s sister resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas. These villas are located just a short walk away from the Yacht Club hotel, and they both share restaurants, pools, and activities. While you can reserve one of the villas on the official Disney website, we prefer to book through David’s DVC rental website . We have used this reputable company for years to rent timeshare points at Disney villas.

Things to Do at Disney’s Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits on the same property as two sister resorts: Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Villas. These three hotels share restaurants, activities, amenities, and entertainment options with each other.

sand bottom pool with Disney's Yacht Club in background

One of my family’s favorite things about the Yacht Club is that you don’t need to leave the property to have fun. So, if you’re looking for activities at Disney outside of the theme parks, the Yacht Club offers lots of great options. These are our favorite things to do at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort when enjoying a relaxing day at Disney:

See Epcot Fireworks

We recommend walking to the bridge that connects the Disney Boardwalk to the Yacht and Beach Club Resort to enjoy the nightly Epcot fireworks show. You can even grab some ice cream to enjoy during the presentation.

Take a Ride on the Skyliner

Since the Disney Skyliner sits just outside of Epcot’s International Gateway entrance, you can easily access it from the Yacht Club Resort. Just take the short (less than ten minutes) walk toward Epcot and hop on the Skyliner for free!

Book a fishing excursion on Crescent Lake for a truly unique experience while staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Eat Ice Cream

Disney’s Yacht Club is home to one of our favorite WDW restaurants, Beaches and Cream . While reservations can be difficult to snag at this popular dining spot, you can access the walk-up window to order shakes and ice cream to-go.

Dine with Characters

Check out Cape May Cafe during breakfast/brunch when it becomes Minnie’s Beach Bash. Guests can meet Goofy, Minnie, and Donald while they dine at the breakfast buffet.

Float along the Lazy River

The Beach Club’s main pool, Stormalong Bay, offers many fun features. One of our favorite things to do at the pool is to grab (free) tubes to float along the lazy river.

Play Games in the Arcade

Lafferty Place Arcade offers lots of fun games for kids and adults to enjoy. This is a particularly great place to spend time at Disney World when it’s raining.

Ride the Friendship Boats

The Disney water taxi picks up visitors near the Yacht Club. You can ride this free boat to the Disney Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Epcot entrance, and Hollywood Studios entrance.

Build Sandcastles

Did you know that Stormalong Bay features a shallow, sand bottom pool and beach area? Kids love digging in the sand and splashing around in this section of the pool.

Make S’mores

Visit the nightly campfire to roast marshmallows during your visit. You can even purchase S’mores Kits for a few dollars.

Rent a Boat

Spend time on Crescent Lake on your own private pontoon boat. Guests can rent boats from the marina near the Yacht Club.

Disney’s Yacht Club offers a large fitness center for guests to use during their stay. Ship Shape Health Club is even open 24 hours a day, so you can squeeze in a workout at any time.

Stroll along the Disney Boardwalk

The Disney Boardwalk is full of amazing activities and entertainment options and is just a short walk away from the Yacht Club.

Play Volleyball

As you walk along the boardwalk in front of the Beach Club, you’ll notice a sand volleyball court. This is a great spot to pick up a game with friends or family. You can also often join a game of volleyball at Stormalong Bay Pool.

Enjoy an Evening Movie

Each evening, Disney Yacht Club guests can watch a movie under the stars. These family friendly movies are a great way to unwind after a long day.

Play Mini Golf

Stroll over to Fantasia Gardens and Miniature Golf Course where you’ll find two 18-hole courses. This fun spot is located near the Dolphin and Swan Resorts.

Swim Some Laps

If you’re looking for a quieter poolside experience to swim laps or relax, check out the leisure pool at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. You’ll also have access to the quiet pools at Beach Club and Beach Club Villas.

If you’re not into running or jogging on vacation, you can spend time strolling along the jogging paths at the Yacht Club. You’ll find lots of great spots to take pictures and may even catch some surprises along the way.

Join a Kid Friendly Party at the Pool

Each afternoon, Stormalong Bay hosts fun poolside activities like hula hoop competitions and limbo.

Play Tennis

Guests can find tennis courts near the Yacht Club’s quiet pool.

Zoom Down Waterslides

Stormalong Bay features two separate water slides for guests to enjoy. The main waterslide stretches from the pirate ship and across the Beach Club boardwalk to the main pool.

You’ll also find a smaller slide that’s perfect for toddlers and small kids at the entrance to the main water slide.

Book a Fireworks Cruise

Take in the sights and sounds of the Epcot fireworks show from your pontoon boat on Crescent Lake.

Transportation

As mentioned above, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits in a prime location in the center of all the magic at WDW. If you’re planning to visit one of the theme parks, you’ll be happy to know that several of them are just a super short walk or ride away.

hotel lobby with seating areas

These are our preferred ways to get from Disney’s Yacht Club to other places in Walt Disney World:

  • To Magic Kingdom – You can access the Disney buses in front of the hotel. The ride to Magic Kingdom should take 15-20 minutes.
  • To Epcot – Exit the back of Yacht Club (toward Crescent Lake) and turn left. Epcot sits just under a ten minute walk away!
  • To Hollywood Studios – You have several options for getting to Hollywood Studios. We find the quickest option *usually* is walking. Hollywood Studios sits just a 15 minute walk away from the Yacht Club. You can also ride a Friendship Boat to Hollywood Studios. However, by the time you wait on the boat to make stops, this method can take longer than walking. You could also walk toward Epcot to catch the Disney Skyliner. With this method, you should be able to reach Hollywood Studios in around 25 minutes.
  • To Animal Kingdom – You can hop on one of the Disney buses to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This is roughly a ten-minute ride.
  • To Disney’s Boardwalk – You can make the five-minute walk around Crescent Lake to easily reach the Disney Boardwalk. Guests can also take the Friendship Boat from the Yacht Club lighthouse and ride across the lake to the Boardwalk.
  • To Disney Springs – You can take a bus to Disney Springs, which typically takes 15-20 minutes.

Is Disney’s Yacht Club Worth It?

Since Disney’s Yacht Club may be my personal favorite resort in all of WDW , I would definitely say it’s worth the cost! I love the classy guest rooms and bathrooms with their nautical decor.

The lobby seems to be quieter and calmer than that at other resorts, and the cast members are super friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoy the food at all the restaurants on site, and we appreciate the ability to easily walk from the Yacht Club to the Beach Club’s dining options.

pin for Disney's Yacht Club Resort

The close proximity to Epcot makes the Yacht Club an ideal place to stay since there’s no rush to get to the park in the morning or back “home” at the end of a long day. Plus, you enter and exit through the International Gateway entrance to Epcot (near World Showcase), so the lines to enter are basically nonexistent.

Additionally, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is just a short walk, boat ride, or Skyliner ride away. And if you feel like venturing out, you can take the scenic stroll around Crescent Lake to the Disney Boardwalk.

Disney Pool Bars: Hurricane Hanna’s

By AJ 5 Comments

Hurricane Hanna's Sign

After a truly amazing recent stay at the Yacht Club, I really wanted to share some info about Hurricane Hanna’s as the second installment of the Pool Bars series .

Stormalong Bay

Stormalong Bay

This is the pool bar for Stormalong Bay, that mini-water-park nestled between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. I’ve spent many lovely afternoons lounging by this pool, taking advantage of the super-duper long shipwreck slide, and greatly enjoying the poolside service by Hurricane Hanna’s waitstaff.

But even though you need a wristband proving that you’re staying at Y&BC to swim in Stormalong, you can visit Hurricane Hanna’s even if you’re not a resort guest! Strolling on the Boardwalk? Head over to Hanna’s for a hot dog or a Mai Tai! There are several tables with umbrellas available for guests to sit and relax.

Hurricane Hanna’s menu includes your standard Disney Pool Bar drinks (though I think I remember, back in the day, they had a drink called the Hurricane Hanna — anyone recall this?)

And Hanna’s also has a varied food menu. You’ve even got a well-stocked condiments bar situated in a “canoe!”

Hurricane Hanna’s, because it’s situated properly to be rather available for use by those just visiting the Boardwalk, is definitely one of the more accessible pool bars on Disney property. It’s also a great way to grab a glimpse at the largess of Stormalong Bay!

The next time you’re out and about between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, take a stroll over to the Yacht and Beach Clubs and enjoy a nice, relaxing beverage on the beach. You’ll thank yourself!

Note:   Pardon the dust. Demolition of the main ballroom building, the Tony Rotino Center, tennis courts, pool, and Harbormaster's building is expected to begin in Dec/Jan 2023. Fencing will surround the Yacht Club's facilities as work is being done and should have little to no impact on the beach or its parking.

In this article:

What is a Beach Club?

What makes a great beach club, top 10 best superyacht beach clubs, interested in booking a luxury yacht charter.

Located at sea-level in the aft area of the yacht, a beach club can offer a number of amenities; from fully-stocked bars to hammam spas, as well as an array of comfortable lounging areas for you and your guests to relax and unwind whilst enjoying scenic waterside views of your surroundings.

Beach club onboard MY Aquila

It’s also the perfect jumping off point for fun activities in the water on the yacht’s array of toys and tenders.

More than just a place to splash in the sea, the beach club has transformed the traditional aft deck tender garage into a luxurious waterside entertainment centre, and is now a must-have feature on every luxury charter yacht. Offering a range of excellent facilities from loungers, bars and TV screens, to gyms, saunas and dive centers, it is clear to see the appeal.

Here we have compiled the latest and most impressive superyacht beach clubs to be found in the global charter fleet .

1. Victorious

  • Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2023

A far cry from the exclusivity of real members’ only boating social clubs, irreverence is the name of the game at Denver’s Yacht Club, a self-proclaimed ‘anti-club club’ that bears the playful slogan: ‘Yachty by nature’. There, owners Mary Allison Wright and McLain Hedges aimed to combine three of their favorite types of drinking joints – cocktail bars, natural wine bars and dive bars – to achieve the ultimate hangout for locals and visitors alike. Thanks to its eco principles, Yacht Club is named the winner of the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2023 . Located in North Denver’s historic Cole neighborhood, there is zero pretension at the casual bar, which many Coloradans consider the equivalent of their modern Cheers. Drinks-wise, the programme mixes an eclectic approach of high – they have a fortified wine bottle list, for example – and low (like the Old No. 7-11 combo, which is a Jack and Coke with a hot dog). Even the finest spirits find a home in quickie combinations, which also sometimes skew somewhat nautical, with drinks like the Frozen Banana Daiquiri and Champagne Mojito bringing breezy fun to the mix, and the ‘Soft Bangers’ section of the menu features a few alcohol-free options for non-imbibers.

Superyacht designers on the unstoppable rise of the beach club

Related articles, superyacht directory.

The leisure space at a yacht’s stern is more prized than ever and has become an essential part of the superyacht blueprint. Ahead of the Superyacht Design Festival , which will welcome a panel to discuss how a new generation of clients are demanding a new type of space, Cecile Gauert looks back at the beach club's unstoppable rise...

From the mid 2000s to today, yacht designers and builders have placed increased focus on water access. Recent deliveries such as the Oasis 40M and Alpha Yachts ’ Spritz 102 have replaced the back end of the boat with terraces with sea views. The beach club is taking on a whole new dimension.

A few years ago, designers shifted the focus from the top deck, which was seen as the main recreation area on a yacht, to the lower deck, specifically the transom area. Who were the trendsetters? The 105-metre Lady Moura , built by Blohm+Voss in 1990, really pushed the envelope, and her fold-down terraces were an early inspiration, although her beach club wasn’t at water level. The Jon Bannenberg -designed Lürssen Coral Ocean , delivered in 1994 as Coral Island, was another custom yacht filled with innovative features, including balconies and guest water access. “ Coral Ocean already had a lovely stern and open sea access,” says designer Pieter Van Geest, although he says, “ Eco [now Zeus ] had the first low aft deck with open sea access.”

  • The best superyacht beach clubs in the world

Then there was Princess Mariana (now Pegasus VIII ), a 79-metre Espen Øino -designed superyacht delivered in 2003. It had a floodable tender garage/beach club and side balconies. It’s hard to pick one single influencer, but what is certain is that moving away from classic wraparound transoms like the charming canoe stern and opening up water access was becoming a big trend.

Designer Frank Neubelt remembers getting requests for platforms with integrated ladders and with room for a couple of chairs in the 1990s. One of his first superyacht designs, the Moonen Xanadu (now Azul A ), had such a feature. “ Xanadu ’s owner requested a sauna in the transom area, so in 1996 a mini beach club was born – all at just 34 metres,” he says. However, with few exceptions, platforms were just large enough for crew to handle lines and the tender, and the closest you got to the water from the aft section of the boat was on sportfishers. The waterfront was a working area, a bit like it was on shore for many years.

  • The new design trends shaping superyacht beach clubs

“Proximity to the water is a new phenomenon in our western civilisation connected with the Industrial Revolution, new wealth and more pleasure time,” says Luiz de Basto. De Basto translated one of his early architectural concepts for a villa with unfolding terraces to yacht design, and began integrating fold-down terraces on all kinds of boats starting in 2008. “In the beginning, yacht transoms were all enclosed – no one wanted to be near the water. Yachts were used more for formal gatherings,” he says.

Whatever the tipping point, by the mid 2000s, multiple concepts began cropping up. In 2005 Italian builder CRN delivered the 54-metre Ability (now Alouette II ), designed by Zuccon International Project , as a pure custom yacht with a 19-square-metre “beach deck” connected to a fitness room/spa behind glass doors. The design, the yard said at the time, “rearranges the rules of standard naval design, transforming the stern into a VIP area, with a fully-fledged  ‘balcony on the sea’.”

  • Club class: How the beach club became yachting's most fashionable must-have

Neubelt’s work on large custom yachts as a co-founder of Newcruise developed his earlier concepts significantly: the 68-metre Nobiskrug Triple Seven delivered in 2006 features a split-level beach club/bar arrangement and elegant stairs connecting the large swim platform to the main deck, an arrangement he expanded for the 73-metre Siren , delivered in 2008.

Nauta Design, building on its extensive experience with sailing boat design, where connection with the water is so much a part of the lifestyle, made a big splash with the first iteration of Project Light, an 80-metre custom project developed for a client with builder Fincantieri in 2006.

“We shifted the attention from the interior to the exterior, from living inside to outdoor living, and even when inside, to enjoying the outdoor view through great glazed surfaces, low bulwarks and a seamless connection between inside and outside,” says Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design . Among the many features was a covered space at water level connected to an indoor lounge behind sliding glass doors and fold-down terraces on the three sides. The 2008 financial meltdown put a stop to the project, but Nauta continued to evolve the concept and in 2009 released a 90-metre version. “That was our first design where a beach club really had an important function,” says Pedol. The next logical step was to include a full wraparound platform, which Nauta showed in several concepts.

Overall a transformation of the aft section of the yacht from a work area to a leisure area became more evident at that time. One example illustrates this trend beautifully: the Nuvolari Lenard -designed Oceanco Alfa Nero , delivered in 2007, boasts a vast aft main deck with pool/helideck located above the tender garage.

A more active lifestyle, a desire to interact with the water and fabulous toys drove the change, and technical evolution (and evolving rules) made it more possible to push boundaries, even on smaller yachts.

Wider Yachts , one of the first builders to adopt a hybrid propulsion system, helped expand the idea to the sub-50-metre category when it unveiled in 2011 its concept for what would become the 46-metre Wider 150 several years later. “I think that Wider did quite some development to make the beach club special,” says Frank Laupman, founder of the prolific design company Omega Architects . It was for the owner of a Wider yacht and cruise line executive that Laupman designed the beach club concept for a small “cruise liner with yacht DNA”. The dual-level beach club area has two convertible zones. The lower level can be closed for safety reasons when the yacht is in a marina, the designer explains, “because owners want to maintain privacy and security at some point”.

And that has been part of the most recent evolution – to make the beach club or sea lounge usable any time, especially as it takes more space on the lower deck. At Sanlorenzo , a glass bottom pool on the aft deck is also a light conduit into the beach club/tender garage, a solution the shipyard first implemented on the Sanlorenzo 52Steel , designed in collaboration with Officina Italia Design , and more recently on the 62Steel .

H2 Yacht Design created a spectacular two-pool arrangement and 110-square-metre beach club on the 80-metre Bilgin Yachts Tatiana , which was delivered earlier this year. It includes a spa, space for massage en plein air and a hamman in keeping with an increased focus on wellness several years in the making

On many Lürssen yachts, the main recreation deck was away from prying eyes and, more recently, lounges and terraces migrated to the lower deck, expanding the spa area into a fully-fledged multi-use recreational area. Lennart Pundt, head of project development for the German shipyard, sees this evolution and an increased care for the environment as closely linked. And that isn’t about to change. With the switch to lower emissions or silent, exhaust-free propulsion options, the lower deck will be more pleasant an area than ever.

“The massage [area] and spa are no longer disconnected from the activities on the water.  The beach area is becoming a fully functional total wellness and activity centre,” says Laura Pomponi, of Luxury Projects , who recently designed a spectacular arrangement on a private 70-metre Benetti. Although of late, there is another evolution. “We often arrange the beach club as a relaxing area with lounge seating, big-screen television and buffet cabinet or counter for direct service of refreshments between watersports activities. Then, at night, the service counter turns to a bar and a DJ table appears in a corner, turning it into a nightclub,” she says.

What could be more pleasant than to linger at the water’s edge, at least in fair weather? Even when they visit Westport Yachts ’ facility in Fort Lauderdale, clients often suggest meeting for coffee on their beach club, says Alex Rogers, the company’s director of sales. The prolific American builder was a latecomer to the trend. “We are very conservative,” says Rogers. “We like our boats to work; it’s another moving part and you don’t want to get stuck somewhere with the beach club open.” But clients kept asking and so they worked with nautical engineering company Nautical Structures on implementing a beach club on the Westport 125 , the first of which was delivered in 2017. They chose a door that opens upward and a fixed platform. This has multiple advantages: it offers the ability to insert lights, speakers and showers, provides shade and won’t be disrupted by choppy water. Westport will implement this feature in all new models for the foreseeable future, and tailor it to individual needs (fishing or diving).

One of the issues with a lower deck beach club is that water is seldom still. A passing speedboat can be enough to send waves into a low-lying space and disrupt the reverie of a sunbather, rendering the space impractical with anything more than a light chop – unless, of course, it’s designed as a “wet space”. For this reason and more (deck height, for example, is a key factor) designer Giorgio Cassetta says these lounges at water level are better suited to much larger yachts, otherwise not only can they get very wet, “they can feel like a cave”.

There are ways around that. An interesting solution is on 49.7-metre Rossinavi Lel . Structural grills in aluminium flanking the large beach club allow light to flow into a well-finished, covered 90-square-metre lounge. It has a 2.5-metre-high ceiling and an internal staircase for safe passage up and down from the main deck. Designer Luca Dini says it is “the largest beach club in a 50-metre yacht under 500GT.” This feature allowed saving on the gross tonnage while increasing liveable space.

On very large yachts, gross tonnage is less of an issue and the height above the water is usually sufficient to protect sunbathers from run-of-the-mill waves. However, large unfolding sections of bulwark can be subject to a lot of strain, says designer Lukasz Opalinski. An industrial designer by training, he imagined a solution that allows bulwarks to slide outwardly, additional deck sections stored under the swim platform filling the gap to form a large flush swim platform with a central articulated section with steps descending into the sea (now standard issue from Opacmare). He illustrated his idea with Indah, his newly released 120-metre concept.

The Italian Sea Group ’s recently delivered Geco has an attractive open-stern beach club area. It is designed to avoid complications on a yacht that has to be ready for charter for weeks at a time. “Mechanical unfolding things are nice and sometimes needed, but in Geco we wanted to keep it simple to be sure that everything worked at any time, in any situation,” says head of design Gian Marco Campanino. The beach area is fixed, without moving parts.

However, many builders are pushing beyond the traditional beach club, expanding the lifestyle to several tiers, cascading from the aft deck down to the water level. Cassetta posits the traditional beach club has peaked and the lower deck spaces may revert to a more traditional use as storage, watersports and changing room. “There’s a trend, which I very much support, to go from enclosed beach clubs to main deck areas that flow down into the sea in a much more laid back and informal way,” he says. This idea would be similar to what he has designed for Alpha Yachts or Tankoa . “The main deck, which was neglected until five years ago, has become the new place to be because people have realised that there’s less roll there, you’re closer to the sea and have 10 or 15 metres of space that you can use in connection with an internal area without having to walk up the stairs. It just works.”

It’s a concept that’s seen on a couple of the new semi-custom Benettis. The Italian builder tapped RWD some years ago and gave them carte blanche to develop something new, which would appeal to younger and more active owners. In 2016, they came up with the first concept for what would become the popular Oasis series, which started with the 40-metre Rebeca , and also worked with Benetti on the B.Now series. The thinking was “to take people to the sea”, says RWD’s Andrew Collett. “Traditionally you have this cockpit or seating in the way that was deleted, which opened this whole new area, and with engineering and the tender garage moving, we started to push the decks down and then the natural thing was to open the bulwarks. And the Oasis was born,” he says.

Life on board is becoming less formal and that’s a trend that is here to stay, de Basto says. Even interiors reflect a “more relaxed and informal” approach. Spaces that transform from day to evening use – for instance, a dining space that can be set as a buffet in open air in the day or be enclosed with sliding doors at night – are part of it. Floating islands, netted pools and temporary docks for all manner of water toys, he says, also have transformed the way people enjoy their yachts, expanding the idea of the beach club to just about any size of boat.

At this year's Superyacht Design Festival a panel of designers including Giorgio Cassetta, Luiz de Basto and Mario Pedol, will discuss what's next for the beach club and how we might see the space evolve in the next decade. The Superyacht Design Festival will take place in Milan from June 22-24, 2022. Tickets are still available.
