The Fantasi 37 is a sturdy boat for all types of sailing on all seas. The boat has massive displacement, an elongated keel and a consistent quality that few yachts can match, then or now. The boat has classic lines with positive sterns and a very fine teak deck. The cockpit has both a helmsman's well and a bridge deck. The boat is registered in the Swedish Maritime Administration's boat register. This Fantasi 37 has a high-quality interior, all furnishings are handmade and site-built in stained mahogany. Cabinets and hatches have roller shutter doors. The engine is located under the removable companionway stairs. To port of the companionway is the U-shaped galley with double sinks and hot and cold fresh water, as well as space for a seawater pump. The stainless-steel stove has two burners and is gimballed. Above the sink there is a cabinet fitted for glassware and cups. Above the stove there is a cupboard for plates and dry goods and below the stove there is a cupboard for pots and pans. Drawer cabinet with four drawers and a cutting board. Opening skylight over the kitchenette. To starboard of the companionway you will find a sea wardrobe and overhead cupboard. The navigation table next door has space for unfolded charts. Above the nav table there are two drawers and a locker, control panel, VHF phone and radar display. The chart table itself is a chest of drawers with four very wide and deep drawers. On the port side of the saloon a U-shaped dinette can be found with a fold-out table and opposite of it another sofa. The sofas can be made up with a single cushion into a double berth or a wide single berth. The sofas are upholstered in dark blue Pelle Vävare fabric (2004). Above the sofas are bookshelves and six upper cabinets with built-in CD/radio and speakers. Clock and barometer in brass. Opening skylight with solar-powered fan in the salon. Forward of the saloon a sliding door leads to two wardrobes and a chest of drawers with eight drawers to starboard and opposite a sliding door to the toilet room and a washbasin with shower mixer. The bow has two berths with spring mattresses, bed mattresses and five storage lockers. Furthermore, there is an opening skylight with solar-powered vent in the forepeak. The aft compartment has two bunks with mattresses, one large and four smaller storage lockers. Two opening portlights towards the cockpit in the aft compartment. Under the sofas, bunks and troughs there are large storage compartments. Specification Hull and deck of sandwich construction. Hand-laid fibreglass-reinforced isoplast with 20 mm Divynicell as spacer material. Hull and deck bonded with glass fibre reinforced polyester. Lead keel embedded in the hull. 45 mm stainless steel centreboard. Rudder in homogeneous fibreglass-reinforced plastic. Continuous bottom stacks and bulkheads laminated to the hull on both sides. Hull below waterline epoxy treated, last blasted and treated in 2017. Deck and cockpit covered with 45x12 mm teak, pinned with needle putty. Review of Fantasi 37
Basic specs..
The boat equipped with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.
The Fantasi 37 is equipped with a long keel. A full keel provide a better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel; on the other hand, better directional stability means also that the boat is more difficult to handle in a harbour with less space.
The boat can enter most marinas as the draft is just about 1.75 - 1.85 meter (5.74 - 6.04 ft) dependent on the load.

Mark Cameron Yachts are delighted to announce the successful sale of the Fantasi 37 ‘AIAIA’.
The Fantasi 37 is a very rare find in the UK and with a cult status on the continent, it’s a yacht not often found listed for sale openly. Enjoying a production run of almost 15 years the class numbered a total of 82 hulls when productions ceased in 1988. The design having proven to be an ideal offshore cruising design.
AIAIA is Fantasi 37 No. 31. She has enjoyed some significant upgrading and refitting in the current ownership with her inventory highlights including:
- Teak decking and cockpit refurbished in 2015
- Beta 38 installed new in 2012
- New stainless steel fuel tank installed in 2017
- CTEK battery charger fitted 2019
- Solar panel and charge regulator fitted 2018
- Merlin SmartGuage battery monitor installed 2020
- Raymarine navigation instruments installed 2015
- Raymarine E7 plotter installed 2015
- Icom DSCVHF
- Standing rigging replaced in 2015
- Furlex roller reefing system installed 2017
AIAIA will be wintering locally before heading abroad with her new owner to Germany initially before heading south on a blue water cruising adventure. We look forward to hearing how the trip goes in coming years.
MANUFACTURER HISTORY:
Yachts are based in Uddevalla, Sweden, in the centre of an area famous for yacht construction, with the likes of Hallberg Rassy, Najad, Sweden Yachts, and Regina as close neighbours. Founded in 1942, Fantasi Yachts have built over 350 boats in varying sizes from dinghies all the way up to 80ft one-off yachts.
Beginning with the Fantasi 30, first launched in the 1960’s, and then followed by the legendary Fantasi 37, launched in 1974 and with over 80 built up until 1997, the ultimate incarnation of the Fantasi Yachts line was the Fantasi 44, launched in the mid 1990’s and with 21 boats delivered by the time the yard moved away from new yacht construction in 2007.
