Hard chines like the good 'ol Thunderbird obviously put reserve bouyancy into the water when immersed.. and some of the more pronounced chines seen on some of the latest boats are more along those lines and then some with the pronounced beam aft and the 'wedge' shape..

Registered User. Don't discount the RG65 class boats. A hard chine JIF65 is relatively easy to build. At 25 1/2 inches it's a bit smaller than an IOM which means you can travel with mast in place.
