Motor Yacht

Pelorus is a 115m motor yacht custom built by Lurssen Yachts in 2003. The mega yacht’s elegant exterior lines are the work of Tim Heywood. She features interior design by Terence Disdale.

Motor yacht Pelorus has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. With a generous beam of 17.2m, she has a spacious interior with room for up to 22 guests and 42 crew members.

In 2007 Pelorus emerged from a refit carried out by Blohm + Voss shipyard, which saw the addition of a second helicopter pad, new paint and zero-speed stabilizers.

The mega yacht also has a large pool, Jacuzzi, and numerous toys and tender on board.

Pelorus can reach a top speed of 20 knots and cruises comfortably at 18 knots. She is equipped for long-distance cruising, with a range of 6000 nautical miles at 16 knots.

In 2018 Pelorus underwent a major refit by Kusch Yachts.

PELORUS Yacht – Sumptuous $250 M Superyacht

The PELORUS yacht is named after the Greek word “vast” because she is one of the largest boats in the world. 

Lurssen built the multi-award-winning 115m/377’4″ motor yacht ‘Pelorus’ at their Bremen shipyard in Germany.

Her interior was designed by Terence Disdale , an English design studio, and she was delivered to her owner in May 2003.

Tim Heywood Design created the exterior design for this luxury yacht, which was recently refurbished in 2007.

The PELORUS yacht is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 18 guests in nine suites, comprising two VIP cabins and an additional 41 crew in 20 rooms, to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. 

PELORUS is currently sailing under the Cayman Islands flag, the second most popular superyacht flag state.

Terence Disdale was in charge of her design, and he developed an interior that embraced the relaxed and informal ambiance of a beachside villa.

The PELORUS yacht is a highly private yacht, and very little information is known about her interior or other particular details from aboard.

The PELORUS yacht has many amenities including two helicopter landing pads, a swimming pool with artificial current, a spa pool, and an owner’s suite with 180-degree panoramic views that open to a private deck.

She is built with stunning engineering technology and features high-caliber systems, including the bowthruster, being provided with a backup.

At the same time, the control of all propulsion units is centralized in a ‘Lipstick’ that allows the yacht to be maneuvered accurately with a single joystick.

One of the most distinctive features of this luxurious mega yacht is the ‘lido’ on the top deck, which has two swimming pools and a vast sea-level platform that is created once the transom is opened.

This location gives good access to the water and an excellent ‘beach area’ where visitors may relax and enjoy the various water toys available.

Aside from that, the PELORUS superyacht includes two helicopter pads for the convenience of its owner and visitors.

Additionally, the superyacht is equipped with a spacious pool, a jacuzzi, a variety of toys, and a tender.

The yacht was built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure with a 17.2-meter beam. She has ranked the 48th largest yacht in the world with a length of 377 feet 3 inches or 115 meters and a gross tonnage of 5317.0 GT

She can reach a top speed of 20 knots, and her cruising speed is 18.0 knots for a relaxing experience.

Her maximum cruising range is 6000.0 nautical miles for long-distance cruising, with her power coming from two 5,500-hp Wärtsilä 12v 26 engines . 

The PELORUS yacht was bought for US $200 million and has an annual running cost of $15-20 million.

The iconic  PELORUS is an apex superyacht of unquestionable pedigree. She is a 115m (377.3ft) motor yacht of 5,403GT, with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure custom-built to DNV-GL classification and delivered by Lurssen in 2003. She was designed by two of the world’s most celebrated yacht designers with sweeping exterior styling by Tim Heywood and beachside villa interiors by Terence Disdale.

She was refitted by Blohm+Voss in 2008, when her second helipad was added, and again in 2017 during her class survey. She is now lying at Kusch in Wewelsfleth, Germany, undergoing routine class maintenance.

Exterior features include a sun deck with a large pool with counter-current jets and a jacuzzi, bar and open-air dining.

There are no fewer than five balconies and sea terraces across main and lower decks, two of which serve the dining room and main saloon and another spectacularly opens up a lower deck guest cabin. There are helipads on the foredeck and forward on the owner’s deck where a companionway leads to a private terrace.

An elevator serves lower to sun decks for multi-generational access. The upper deck is designed for entertainment. A huge al fresco space aft has open-air dining and lounges beneath the overhang and plenty of versatile deck space aft, as well as walkaround sidedecks for promenading.

Inside is a panoramic sky lounge with a huge bar and generous lounge and huge screen. The space has nightclub lighting and sound systems and rug rolls away to reveal an illuminated dancefloor. Forward is a tiered cinema.

As well as a private terraces forward and aft, the dedicated owner’s deck has a bedroom suite with 200-degree views, a huge bathroom and dressing room, as well as a vast lounge and study aft and a butler’s cabin.

There are VIP and guest suites on the upper deck, two guest suites on the main deck and a further three guest suites complete accommodation for 24 guests in 12 cabins. She also sleeps up to 46 crew including seven engineers to ensure reliability and five personal staff for seven-star service.

Her custom tenders, including 11.2m (36.7ft) limo and 8.5m (27.9ft) sport, both by Vikal, are stowed on the main deck aft and launched on horizontal davits through shell doors. She also has storage for a huge selection of toys and scuba diving equipment. Twin 5,300hp Wartsila diesel engines give her a top speed of 20 knots, she cruises comfortably at 18 knots and has a transoceanic maximum range of 6,000nm at her passage speed of 16 knots. Two sets of Quantum zero speed stabilisers ensure comfort on arrival.

115m Lürssen superyacht Pelorus for sale

The 115-metre Lürssen superyacht Pelorus is now for sale with Dominic Millman at Burgess.

Pelorus is a 5,403-gross-tonne motor yacht delivered in 2003 with three of the most distinguished names in yachting behind her design and build: Lürssen, Tim Heywood and Terence Disdale . DNV classed, she was the 11th largest yacht in the world and the flagship of the Lürssen fleet when she first hit the water. 

Her steel hull is based on the same lines as Carinthia VII , with a high forebody and reverse sheer sweeping down towards the stern, but Pelorus features an additional line that curves down towards the bow inspired by the "armour belt" on the HMS Belfast moored on the river Thames.

Terence Disdale created a relaxed but sophisticated interior using natural materials where possible for a beach club feel throughout the vessel. Accommodation is for 24 guests (with dispensation for a total of 36 guests) in 12 ensuite cabins, including a master suite that sits on the owner's deck. The space encompasses a private owner's study with a U-shaped desk and panoramic ocean views aft, and a round table with a lazy susan that seats eight.

The remaining accommodation is comprised of a VIP cabin, seven guest cabins (one of which is equipped with a fold-down terrace) and an additional three guest cabins. Guests are catered to by a crew of 46 with three additional staff cabins and a separate staff lounge. All guest areas and crew cabins are fitted with flatscreen televisions.

There are four pools on board Pelorus, the largest of which can be found on the sun deck next to a Jacuzzi flanked by sunpads. Elsewhere, owners can enjoy a steam room and plunge pool thanks to an onboard wellness centre.

Another highlight is the dedicated cinema room with sink-in sofas, Dolby Atmos sound and more than 120 4k films available at the touch of a button. 

Pelorus carries seven tenders including an 11.2-metre limo and 8.5-metre sports tender (both by Vikal), a ten-metre X-tender rib, two Pascoe ribs including a SOLAS rib, a nine-metre Hinckley and a Zodiac. Her toy box is just as extensive with stowage for up to six jet skis and a full dive set-up.

Power comes from a pair of Wartsila Model 12V26 engines delivering a maxiumum speed of 20 knots and a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 16 knots. A quartet of Quantum zero speed stabilisers – two aft and two forward – offer the ultimate guest comfort at anchor and underway.

Pelorus is currently in Germany with an asking price of €185,000,000.

She was built to Germanischer Lloyd ✠ 100 A1 MY, ✠ MC AUT classification society rules, and is MCA LY2 Compliant.

ABOUT LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT

LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT, named after an iconic participant in the first French polar expedition – Jean-Baptiste Charcot – has been designed to share the thrill of discovering the Arctic and Antarctic’s outer limits, reaching sites such as the geographic North Pole and northeast Greenland that have rarely been explored up to now.

Inside, there are a total of 123 spacious suites and staterooms boasting private balconies or terraces where guests can admire the landscape in comfort. The interior design has been carefully considered to showcase the outside and direct the gaze to the outdoors, while calming colors and materials, such as shades of light gray and sand, have been used to create areas for contemplation.

Communal areas include a main lounge with a tea corner, a cigar lounge and a bar where you can enjoy live music. Elsewhere onboard, there is a wellness area designed to bring people into harmony with the elements (think snowroom, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools as well as multiple treatment rooms). After a day of adventure, relax in the balmy waters of the Blue Lagoon, heated to between 27°C and 37°C by the ship’s energy recuperation system.

There are two restaurants, with the main dining room Nuna showcasing a selection of iconic dishes from Alain Ducasse restaurants around the world and contemporary French cuisine. For a more relaxed atmosphere, visit Sila to enjoy themed dinners.

This is the combined length of Roman Abramovitch's fleet taking into account his new order of one at 558 feet long which will have two heliports and one submarine port. (New 558' Pelorus 377' Extasea 288') The total length would have been 1593' if he hadn't given "Le Grand Bleu" to a friend as a gift. For me this is the unacceptable face of capitalism especially when there is so much abject poverty in his own country. Why should one man be able to put his hands on a country's mineral ressources? It's not as if he built the business up from scratch. John

unacceptable, nope i'm afraid your view seems to derive from the popular yet simplistic notion of the economic resources of country (or a family, or a company) as following the "Fixed Pie" model. Once this has been settled upon, then divvying up the pie becomes, well, like anyone would share a pie. I'd share a pie 50-50 with frinstance, no problem. If i'd earned all the money to buy the pie, and i have a *slightly" larger bit than you, but you'd still get 40or even 45% of the pie. But realituy is not like that. The UK seems to have lartgely crusied past what (in my view) was a glaring mistake of Thatchers government - to bar hong Kong nationals from settleing in the UK. There wouyld have been several thousand new entrepreneurial people all ready to work like heck, start new busineses and all the rest of it. But unfortunately they were not granted entry. Use the fixed pie on yourself: take your salary, div it up into what you can spend and etc etc, no massive yacht, usually. You can have 1 summer hol which numpties like policians who have no chance of trebling their salary in the forseeable future and quite a large chance of it beging halved or removed. However, work harder, cut out spending on draggy-down things, get a better job, earn more money ...means a bigger pie. So, forget pies. However...Abramovitch is a bit of special case in that he came acrioshis wealth by er peculair means folwing denationalisation. Nonetheless - the money he got is derived from Russian oil being actually pumped and sold at world market prices. So somebody would have the money. I think it quite good that he is putting to philantropic boat-spending - oodles of jobs for all sorts of industries inventing all manner of stuff, all taking a profit. Then the boat er is eventually worth loads less, and so no other markets destabilised either, fantastic. Think of his boats as a squillion pound tax on his hols, all directly divved to all those people/companies doing any work for those boats. Seen this way...if abramovitch *didn't* have his wild boats - it would almost be a great idea to compel him to buy a large yacht. No, tell you what - lets make him buy a FEW yachts heheh. Oh, er, he has...

Was looking at Le Grande Blue in Antigua last week. It's a hell of a ship complete with a big Mobo on side and a racing yacht on the other. Oh, and a helcopter etc etc

Assuming that they have something as simple as (say) a Laser II dinghy on board this fine vessel, does anyone think that the security gorillas would allow poor old Roman to go off for a little private pootle about with his ladyfriend in said Laser, without all the heavies following along behind bristling with weaponry? Methinks probably not. Maybe he might have no desire to do so. Maybe he might want to if he sees that excellent link posted elsewhere on here re the Lasers all wiping out merrily and having loads of fun. But if he does want to, and can't, who is better off? Us or him?

[/ QUOTE ] In case anyone is interested, I was given a statistic by a friend (who is an insider in the industry in Moscow) that there is approx $200,000,000 A DAY coming into Moscow from oil revenues alone (he didn't mention gas, which is another huge industry - not sure if he was including it). In any case, that is a huge amount of money, even allowing for possible exaggeration. Walking around the streets you can see it. Yes, there are still a lot of people in Moscow to whom the wealth hasn't filtered down, but it IS filtering. The rest of Russia is a bit different. However I was in Donetsk last week (not in Russia admittedly, it's Ukraine, which has been poorer and less developed than Russia capitalism-wise). Donetsk is the industrial centre of the Donbass coal mining region, and I was expecting a desperately depressed and dirty city. What I found was another boom town, the centre at least was clean, immaculate, newly renovated and not only full of flash shops, entertainment complexes etc. that would have done many western cities proud, but also full of normal people spending money shopping, posh cafes, pretty indistinguishable from a small western city. For example, the nicest room (well actually, a 3-storey suite) at the Donbass Hotel there costs (I am told, didn't try to hire it) $10,000 a night. Likewise I was discussing it with the Finance Director of a huge local factory, who mentioned how manual worker's wages had been soaring. Still not that close to western European levels, but on the way. OK, there is a lot of poverty as well, but alongside you can see a normal economy is taking off. Booming even. Unlike Ukraine, Russia has the oil and gas. In a few years time, the way things are going, Russia will IMHO be seen as among the wealthiest European countries. With dependency on gas etc., it is certainly becoming more and more strategically important economically.

I think he has quite a unique business mind.
