Wider launched the first WiLder 60 earlier this year, but only now can we see the yacht in all its glory.

“She is everything we conceived her to be, and so much more,” Wider CEO Fabio Fraternale said in a statement. “She shows that performance yachts can still be luxurious; that 60-footers can still be built with a superyacht ethos; and that whatever a client imagines, we can make a reality.”

WiLder 60

The layout of the first hull was tailored to the owner, with the main deck offering a spacious owner’s suite forward, two additional guest cabins aft, a salon with a designer galley, and a head for guests. The interior, executed by the in-house design team at Wider Centro Stile, evokes a luxury car cabin with high-end materials and high-quality craftsmanship. The decor combines oak flooring and cleverly integrated lighting with rich leathers, sleek marbles, and glossy lacquers.

“This is the epitome of the WiLder concept—bespoke interiors completed to the very highest superyacht standards of finish, combining Italian design flair with the ultimate craftsmanship,” adds chief of Wider Centro Stile Michele Lubrano Lobianco.

The first hull was launched from Wider’s Vision Hub in Fano this past February, but the next two bespoke examples will be built at Wider’s Superyacht Hub in Venice. Stay tuned to see what wild custom touches the owners add to hulls two and three.

Exterior Design

The Grand Trawler 62 has a distinctive displacement hull developed by MICAD, which aims to improve cruising range and efficiency, making it easier for owners to cast off on long-distance cruises.

She is 18.95 meters long (62’) and has a hull beam of over 5 meters (17’10”).

Designed for 6 to 8 people on board (+ crew), the boat has an impressive flybridge – one of the biggest on the market.

Interior design

The interior is spacious and well-appointed.The galley can be completely enclosed.

The VIP guest cabin in the bow has a generous amount of headroom, so that you feel like you are in a hotel suite.

Strikingly spacious inside, with volumes similar to much bigger yachts, and ingeniously designed, these large passagemakers also have enough space to comfortably house a crew. A satin wax finished wood, leather, and elegant textiles make for a stylish interior and exterior, carefully designed by the experts at Nauta Design.

The midship owner suite, makes clever use of the maximum beam, so that you really feel like you are staying in a luxury hotel suite.

Quiet Luxury

ALL ABOARD FOR A UNIQUE CRUISE!

This passagemaker is over 18 meters long and designed for long-distance cruises. She has an excellent range, her spaces are elegant and practical in equal measure, and there is lots of room on board.

OCEAN CRUISES

Comfortable and seaworthy, with a cruising range of 1050 nautical miles and a central raised helm station, she is ideal for slow cruises, favoring introspection in addition to getting away from it all or leisure activities.

TIME, A TRULY UNIVERSAL LUXURY

Today, having time has become a real luxury – additional time to spend with family and friends. Nauta, the interior designer of this new boat, has created a subtle balance by creating large social spaces, alongside very comfortable private spaces.

SPACE AND COMFORT

The stylish interior cleverly incorporates the practical features our Trawler customers have grown to love. The generous volume of the hull has been used to good effect to create bright airy spaces. Inside, the quality of the cabinetwork, as well as the supple leathers and various textiles enhance the feeling of elegance.

Mikelson Nomad 59/62

Luxury sportfisher.

Embark on an epic journey with the Tom Fexas designed Mikelson Nomad, a custom built masterpiece that sets itself apart from the rest. With its available 59′ and 62′ configurations, the Nomad boasts a spacious split-level salon, galley and pilothouse, perfect for extended stays at sea. Rest in comfort with three generous staterooms, including a full-beam master, and an aft crew quarters. Upgraded options include a custom flying bridge and a large split-level cockpit with molded in-transom bait tanks, and a 3-foot cockpit extension.

The stand-up engine room and standard 2,000-gallon fuel capacity (with additional available with hull extension), make this beauty a force to be reckoned with. And with its highly efficient 12-16 knot mid-range cruise speed, the Nomad easily equals or exceeds the economy of comparable sized trawlers at hull speed, distancing herself from the rest of the “long-range cruising” crowd. Beneteau’s Oceanis Yacht 62 – tested and reviewed

Beneteau’s oceanis yacht 62 is the latest leviathan from the french giant. sam jefferson investigates what the big fuss is all about.

62 foot luxury yacht

I t wasn’t long ago that yachts in the 60-70ft bracket were largely being built by semi custom yards which tailored these giant boats to the requirements of clients – generally at a premium price. The idea that mass producers would ever dabble in these markets seemed a remote one. After all, the ‘big four’ of yacht manufacturing (Hanse, Bavaria, Beneteau and Jeanneau) all rely on churning out huge volumes of yachts at relatively low prices in order to make a profit. It didn’t seem likely that they would make a play for this market, yet the last couple of years have seen that concept shattered.

Jeanneau made the first play with its 64 and Hanse followed suit with its huge 675. To the surprise of some, both have been able to turn a healthy margin of profit by producing unprecedented numbers of these big boats. It was only a matter of time before Beneteau decided it would muscle in on the act.

The result is the Oceanis Yacht 62. Confusingly, this is a yacht in a separate bracket altogether from the Oceanis range and is actually the first of an entirely new line of yachts that will eventually feature a 73ft flagship. The 62 is also a definite departure for the Beneteau group in terms of styling. It has turned to its tried and tested Berret/Racoupeau design team but they have worked alongside Italian designer Pierangelo Andreani, who previously worked on their Monte Carlo motoryacht range, for the styling. The remit has been to be bold and also adopt some of the motoryacht styling – an approach pioneered by Jeanneau in its 64.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62

The result is certainly startling and definitely modern to the point of being brutalist. There’s a generous amount of freeboard, while the modern trend for squaring things off has been taken to new lengths – or angles. This angular approach is further exemplified by a thick black stripe running along the middle of the topsides. Sort of like an Oreo in reverse if you know what I mean. Anyway, this serves the purpose of creating the illusion of less freeboard and also hiding a number of huge portlights in the side of the hull which would otherwise tend to disrupt the look and lines of the boat. As with all recent Beneteaus, she features that distinctive arch over the cockpit which isn’t to everyone’s taste, but certainly provides a practical and sensible solution to where to site the mainsheet on a cruising yacht. No question: she is a striking yacht.

Step aboard and you immediately realise that she is also a genuinely huge yacht. There’s simply acres of deck space, even compared with a 50-footer, and it is here where the motorboat styling is perhaps most noticeable. The cockpit is divided into two fairly distinct areas, with a large communal seating area forward which is sectioned off from the ‘working’ area of the yacht further aft by two solid pods with the wheels and all the winches just aft. This means that, with all the sail controls led through channels in the deckhead and emerging from the cockpit coamings right next to the twin helming positions, the forward part of the cockpit is entirely devoid of ropes. This makes for a simply huge area to sunbathe and socialise.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62

The instruments are also let into the coamings, with the remainder built into substantial pods on the steering pedestals. With a plethora of push-button controls for furling both the mainsail and headsail, everything is very much to hand for the helmsman. Meanwhile, the rise of the electric winch means that there is no doubt that, despite this yacht’s substantial size, she’s easy to handle shorthanded.

Aft of the helming station is a massive drop-down bathing platform which is accessed from either port or starboard by substantial fixed steps that look like something off a superyacht. The tender garage follows that theme, featuring an elaborate pull-out track for ease of deploying the dinghy, with everything done electrically. The tender garage is 3.5m by 1.7m, so this is far more practical than most equivalents seen on large cruising yachts. Between the steps down to the bathing platform is a bench that lifts up to reveal a sink and barbecue area. There is no question that this is a yacht optimised for lazy Mediterranean cruising.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62

Head forward along broad side decks with decent handholds and there is another lounging area let into the deckhead. Retractable cleats abound and the general feel is of high quality. Up at the bow there is a modest crew quarters that can double as storage, while the anchor is set well outboard on a substantial stainless steel bow roller. This is also utilised for setting the Code 0.

The interior volume has actually been cut down substantially on the 62 by the huge tender garage and also the crew quarters forward. Yet this is such a voluminous vessel that the saloon still feels genuinely very large. The layout is pretty straightforward with a palatial owner’s cabin forward featuring an en suite. There are two smaller but still generous doubles aft. The starboard aft berth has an en suite, while to port there is the option of either one double with en suite or a smaller bunk room instead. In the saloon, the galley runs longitudinally down the starboard side with the main living area and chart table to port. The chart table is decently proportioned and sensibly situated nice and close to the cockpit.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62 - Interior

The styling is very modern and clean; it’s very uncluttered and most appliances are hidden behind covers to the point where it’s hard to identify exactly what the galley is until you start lifting up a few of them. There is just the slightly bland feel of a Travelodge permeating throughout. It is a supremely light and pleasant place to be, however.

The forward cabin in particular is a triumph of comfort, with a real feeling of space and luxury plus masses of headroom. As you’d expect, the yacht is absolutely loaded with electric gizmos and the options list is substantial. You can stick a washer/dryer in a short corridor that leads from the saloon to the owner’s suite, for example.

The day of my test sail was one of those Mediterranean days where you wake up to a flat calm and spend the remainder of the day praying for the sea breeze to kick in. This did happen, but painfully slowly, so we started the test with about 8kt of breeze that reluctantly built to 12kt at its peak. Given that the 62 weighs a substantial 24,000kg, I was interested to see how she would perform at lugging a dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and a million other gizmos around in a fickle breeze.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62 - Interior

Before that, however, we had to get out of our berth and, even in the calm conditions, this might have proven a challenge on such a large yacht. Yet times have changed: bow thrusters, stern thrusters and even side thrusters mean that such operations do not have to be intimidating. You can turn the 62 on a sixpence and she’s far easier and more sympathetic to handle than a 30ft-long keel yacht. It’s part of the reason that manufacturers have been able to introduce larger and larger yachts to their customers: by and large, these yachts are designed to be handled by their owners, not a paid crew, to this end, everything is optimised for effortless handling. This point was amply demonstrated when we unfurled the sails at the push of a button. The 62 needs a generous sail area to push her substantial displacement through the water and Beneteau has obliged with 182m 2 of sail area. This is further augmented by an immense Code 0, pushing up her already substantial sail area.

It was fortunate that we were carrying this Code 0 as it proved the saving grace in the light conditions. This massive sail was able to drive the heavy yacht on at a good pace and, despite the very modest conditions, we were able to eke over 6kt out of her.

62 foot luxury yacht

She was also surprisingly agile given the conditions and had a good feel. Often with these very large yachts it’s easy to end up feeling somewhat divorced from the action, rather like you’re at the helm of a cross-Channel ferry. Yet, with the 62, there was sufficient feel to counter this.

I would never suggest that the Beneteau is a spectacular sailing yacht, but what the French manufacturers have come to perfect over the years is the balance between cruising comfort and workmanlike sailing performance. It would also be interesting to have her out sailing in some heavier conditions, as that long waterline length and powerful sail plan suggest she could be good fun.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62

Sam’s Verdict

Beneteau knows what it’s about and the new 62 is a fine vessel which is an absolute dream for anyone planning a lazy cruise through the Med in total comfort. She is easily handled by a couple, while the crew accommodation opens up another option. She would also do well in the luxury charter market. The yacht does not try to compete with the bespoke luxury bluewater yachts in the Discovery/Oyster bracket and the fit out is unquestionably not quite in the same league. Yet that is repaid in the price tag, which is astonishingly low, considering what you get.

EXPLORER 62

The theme that characterises the new Explorer 62 is its innovative layout, designed to improve life on board for its guests.

The key feature that strongly identifies it is the choice of the forward driving position, as in an explorer super yacht. The bow is the wettest and windiest place on the moving boat and also most prone to oscillation caused by wave motion.

As a result, having the helm station located in a more forward position makes navigation easier and safer.

This choice allowed us to offer a spacious cockpit, with an area covered by the fly which is furnished with a large dining table and an open area that can be fully customised, with sofas and accessories which can be moved and arranged as desired.

MAXIMUM SAFETY ON BOARD

IMG_9899.jpg

LIFE-SAVING BULB  The straight hull with life-saving bulb, completely watertight and insulated, has the function of breaking any objects that get in the way of the yacht's navigation such as logs, floating objects, containers and any ice formations. The bulb is made entirely of fibreglass, located in the lower front part of the boat, and is designed to protect the hull and the Volvo Penta IPS pods.  DOUBLE SYSTEMS AND DOUBLE ANCHORS  Bilge and autoclave pumps, double anchor system, two winches and two 50 kg steel anchors. With her double systems, she is the only vessel under 20 metres to have a large-ship anchorage system. FLY ACCESS  Explorer has a flybridge access ladder in the starboard area. Spacious steps provide a comfortable and safe passage between the main deck and the flybridge, without compromising the view when manoeuvring. VISIBILITY  The main steering station is in a forward position towards the bow, the windscreen is made from a single piece of glass with a 180-degree view, to maximise the helmsman's visibility. Two additional helm stations are located on the flybridge and aft.  LATERAL RESTRAINTS  Gunwales from bow to stern, higher than most yachts, to ensure lateral safety as in a large ship. STRUCTURAL TANKS  Certified structural fuel and fresh water tanks which are tested to improve hull stability and strength. (2800 Lt fuel, 1000 Lt water)   FULL STABILITY SYSTEM  The boat is equipped with a unique stability system, through 24 V electrical operation, consisting of carbon fins and flaps which are governed by a specially designed software. The software is constantly learning and evolving, collecting information and navigation data in order to constantly improve the management during the journey. For maximum stability even when stationary, the American Seakeeper stabiliser can be additionally installed. RANGE  The range is considerably increased compared to a traditional yacht, thanks to the efficient propulsion of two Volvo Penta IPS 800 engines that, managed by FSS software in autopilot together with a hull designed for long journeys, can reach 700 miles on a single refuel. The Explorer 62's structural fuel tank has a capacity of 2800 litres. During our tests, using her two Volvo Penta IPS 800 engines at a speed of 11/12 knots, the average consumption was 50 l/h; this can allow her to sail for a good 60 hours and cover almost 700 miles. The software, once set up in conjunction with the autopilot, tries to maximise cruising speed with the lowest possible fuel consumption, adapting to sea and wind conditions. After more than four months of testing at sea, the software optimised its efficiency through self-learning, and further increased the yacht's range.  DEDICATED APPLICATION  The yacht is equipped with a specific, custom-designed application with comprehensive graphics and explanations, which can easily be installed on handhelds and tablets. Designed and produced by Centrostiledesign. BOAT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE • Domotics system for boat management with dedicated software. • Management of all lights divided by bridges  • Management of all bilge pumps • Management of air conditioning system divided for the 6 fancoils  • Management of the main electrical equipment such as: windscreen wipers, underwater lights, t-top opening and closing • Management of all tanks and their pumps, diesel, sewage water, waste water and fresh water  • Management of current connections with dock • Electric generator as in an A-class ship • Digital and analogue system with 22.5 kW generator  DOUBLE ACCESS TO ENGINE ROOM AND GARAGE WITH INNOVATIVE OPENING AND MAXI GENERATOR • Double entrance to engine room with fireproof and watertight class A door for access to the crew cabin from both the stern and the cockpit • Hydraulic garage door with central glass part with vertical sliding for maximum safety when lowering the tender at sea  • Garage maximum capacity • Williams 345 tender with optional electric inflator • Electrical system as in an A-class ship, digital and analogue system with 22.5 kw generator  SAFETY FIRST For many years I have had the good fortune to sail and test new boat models, organising road shows and events, experiencing the sea not only in summer but all year round and on all continents. By visiting many ports and meeting many shipowners I always gathered information from different markets and different cultures. What emerges is that they all seek the same thing: maximum comfort. Space, functionality, comfort. Boats are like houses, but the environment in which they have to navigate, like brackish water, is aggressive and constantly changing. This made the challenge of building the Explorer Yacht even more exciting. DESIGN, FUNCTIONALITY, CUSTOMISATION

portello garage.jpg

The Explorer's design serves functionality.

The boat is conceived as a modern flat where the only constraints are the sliding doors in the salon and the steering position.

Everything is allowed to the shipowner, who can configure and furnish the cockpit and main deck with free-standing furniture to his liking.

Explorer can be equipped with a PVC CRYSTAL canopy for insulating the fly area if the yacht is to be delivered to customers from colder markets or from those with high temperatures and humidity levels.

On the lower deck you have the option of having the traditional owner's cabin with separate bathroom and large closet or choose the open space version, with a transparent shower and exposed washbasins along the large window.

Under the stairs to the sleeping quarters you can opt for an additional cabin with a single bed or alternatively a large pantry.

For the interior decoration we prepared a solution combining calacatta marble in the cabins and noir desire marble in the bathrooms, lacquered blacks and matt whites.

Owners have always the possibility to customise the interior by choosing different and additional combinations to their taste.

Explorer 62, the perfection of a design yacht that has revolutionized yachting

Explorer 62, the revolution in the explorer yachts

Just by looking at it from the outside, one can sense its extraordinary stability and the immense space offered on board, but stepping on it the sensation is even more incredible. The feeling that Explorer 62 offers anyone who sets foot on it is that of a yacht that is radically different from any yacht ever seen before, one that has already revolutionized the standards in the yachting world in a way from which there will never be a return: we are in fact in front of an open space yacht that at the same time gives a solid feeling of safety, with an intelligent and extremely accurate study of the spaces and a genuine sense of design; a true floating home that gives an infinite feeling of contact with the sea. Explorer 62 is a yacht with a distinctly Teutonic personality, with rigorous and functional aesthetic lines that have immediately made their mark on the industry. It is no coincidence that in the year of its launch the boat won the prestigious ‘Best Layout 2021 ‘ award assigned by World Yachts Trophies last September at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

explorer-62-master-cabin

Designed by Davide Cipriani of Centrostiledesign and built by the Explorer Loy shipyard, managed by Riccardo Radice with Günter Neumann and Ferdinand Dorn , Explorer 62 is an incredibly comfortable and convenient yacht, with interiors that give the idea of being aboard a much larger craft than 62 feet, both for the clever exploitation of the hull and thanks to the windows that offer a 360-degree view of the sea, extending the yacht’s dimensions beyond its own limits. But above all, what is most impressive is the sensation of strength and cruising stability: both when moored and when underway, Explorer 62 has very little oscillation, almost as on dry land, thanks to the scrupulous weight balance studied down to the smallest detail, combining technical innovations with design. Its balance is a characteristic that can be perceived even when the yacht is stationary, and seems to be on dry land rather than moored at the quay.

This combination of elements is literally conquering owners: in the first days of the last Venice Boat Show alone, where we saw this and other boats, Explorer sold three units; and at this point we can’t wait to admire the next 78-foot model, which the yard plans to launch within a couple of years, confident that this yard will continue to revolutionize the standards.

Autumn along the coast of New England awakens nature’s charm like no other time of year. This past November, brisk northwesterly breezes scoured away the yellow-gray mist of summer’s inversions, leaving the sky a sharp blue and the air as crisp as a freshly laundered shirt. From time to time, a dense cloud the color of tarnished pewter cast a giant shadow over the foreground, while the background basked in platinum brightness. This was a perfect day on Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay to begin a short sail aboard a perfectly rendered cruising yacht.

When I say perfect, I mean “complete and lacking nothing essential; excellent or ideal in every way; having all the necessary or typical characteristics required for a given situation (Merriam-Webster)”. Perfection is what a yachtsman gets when he selects a designer and builder who know how to interpret his visions-in this case, Visions of Johanna , Morris 62, hull number one.

Designer Chuck Paine derived this Morris 62 from his Bermuda series of fast offshore-cruising yachts, in which he combines the comfort and security of a pilothouse with practical accommodations. Placing all the machinery abaft the accommodations gives the arrangement plan a spacious guest stateroom aft, a galley opposite, an impressively large saloon amidships, a small upper/lower double guest stateroom forward of the saloon and a luxurious owner’s cabin in the bow.

Providing this much interior volume in a 62-foot yacht requires careful design. The compromises begin with the fast passages, which demand a relatively shallow hull of moderate prismatic coefficient-meaning Paine has drawn out the volume below the waterline. The entry is fine, but not overly so, and forms a narrow U-shape in the first few stations. This U-shape gradually broadens to a semi-ellipsis, growing flatter in the run than it is amidships. Paine carried a large percentage of the maximum beam (at the waterline) into the after sections to provide enough buoyancy to support the machinery under the cockpit. He also kept the hull fairly deep for a short distance abaft the keel to add still more buoyancy. The good news for comfort at sea-you won’t find a flat spot anywhere on the bottom, and the distribution of volume below the waterline prevents excessive pitching in a seaway.

In exchange for the speed, achieved via the shallow hull and light displacement, combined with a spacious arrangement plan, the owner has to live with the appearance of bulk in the topsides. I’m happy to report that Paine is a master at disguising bulk. He has hidden it behind a subtle sweep in the sheerline and a line of six portlights on each side immediately below the rub rail. The bulwarks help, too, by masking the height of the trunk cabin. On the other side of this compromise lays the exceptional amount of reserve stability the Morris 62 gains as she heels onto her tall topsides. She’ll quickly recover from any knockdown.

The 62 promises comfort aboard at sea or in harbor. Natural light from what seems like an acre of glass in the house washes the saloon and forwardmost section of the galley. On a sunny day, such as the one that graced my test sail, the saloon doesn’t need electric lighting, except perhaps for reading in the crotch of the L-shape settee or in the forward lounge chair on the saloon’s starboard side. Additional light enters from two hatches in the overhead and from the portlights in the topsides.

You’ll find plenty of natural light in the galley, too. Though it’s tucked into a narrow area on the starboard side of the companionway, it receives light from three overhead hatches and two portlights. Here, the cabinetry wears a soft-white Awlgrip finish, trimmed with bright-finish cherry. The area positively glows.

I’m not crazy about in-line galleys, but this one is narrow enough to let the chef brace himself against the boat’s motion. Tending pots at the stove, the chef need only turn 180 degrees to access the deep stainless-steel sink. Shuffling a couple of steps to his left places him in front of the two-level refrigerator. The freezer is below the counter and a side step forward of the stove. We could measure the counters in square feet, the area seems so large, and 2-inch fiddles keep everything from escaping to the sole. Owners should find all the dry stowage and refrigeration they need for long-range cruising.

At the after end of the galley is the engineroom, closed off from the accommodations by a watertight door. A workbench and toolbox occupy the starboard side of the space beneath the cockpit seat, permitting a reasonable amount of headroom-at least for anyone short of average. The engineer will thank the designer and builder for providing so much space around the engine and such easy access to the items that require routine maintenance. As is typical of Morris Yachts, everything is labeled and neatly installed.

The true joy of owning a yacht of this pedigree comes from sailing her. Narragansett Bay is no substitute for the high seas, but my imagination transcended our limits. We got under way in about 15 knots of true wind and sailed toward the open ocean on a broad reach. We were a crew of six, Chuck Paine and Tom Morris among us. Clustered near the twin wheels, the group realized the propeller was turning. We could hear the gears spinning, and we had no other explanation for our lack of speed-barely 7 knots under the light air-reaching sail and full main. A peek into the engineroom confirmed that the prop-shaft brake for the Autoprop wasn’t working. The turning prop lopped a couple of knots off our projected top speed. This was unrelated to the installation; the brake was simply defective.

Nonetheless, Visions of Johanna was a delight to sail. Her exceptional stability will inspire confidence in any helmsman, but it’s especially endearing to guests, who can move around without lessons in mountain climbing. The twin wheels let the helmsman see around the pilothouse without straining and view the telltales on the headsails. She balances well on all points of sail, steers accurately and promises to reach double-digit speeds.

When the weather turns ugly, the helmsman and standby watch mate can take shelter in the pilothouse and let the autopilot do the driving. The pilot berth makes a most comfortable perch for anyone who wants to escape the sun, wind, rain or cold. A full array of electronics handles navigation and communication.

Boston Boatworks built the epoxy composite hull and deck, and Morris Yachts completed it. Among its high-tech features are a carbon-fiber rudder and composite chain plates. Though Visions of Johanna wears a lot of shiny jewelry on her deck, you won’t find any wood. Her owner was smart to avoid such decoration, since he prefers sailing to varnishing.

At 62 feet LOA and 56,500 pounds, Visions of Johanna is small enough for a couple to handle alone. On the other hand, her spacious interior gives the owners the option to carry a professional captain or a handful of friends. Let us award her the seal of perfection for meeting the owner’s criteria.

62 Prestige luxury charter yacht - Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA

Why We Like It

Luxury, comfort and high technology – the Prestige 620. Michael Peters, who is among the world’s most renowned yacht designers for the performance and comfort of his hulls, was entrusted with the hull design for this magnificent yacht. Space onboard was maximized in the immense salon and separate dining area, the 3 large staterooms – particularly the owner’s suite – and on the flybridge, providing various areas to relax, socialize and entertain. When the Garroni Design group created the layout, they scrutinized every detail for beauty, function, comfort, and ease of movement throughout the yacht. The powerful and robust hull design, coupled with a high performance IPS propulsion system and ultra-modern construction methods, makes this yacht the perfect choice for yachting enthusiasts.

Oyster 62 Sailing v3

WHAT WE SAY

A Rob Humphreys design that replaced the 61, the 62 is a bigger yacht all round, with more volume, a longer waterline and taller rig. The biggest change, though, came on deck, with the introduction of a split cockpit, aft the working area, with twin wheels, and forward one of the safest, family-friendly cockpits in a yacht of this size.

The 62 is available with either a four or a five cabin layout, with up to three head/shower compartments, and offers accommodation and features that compare favourably with many much larger yachts.

Performance under sail is excellent with 200 mile days in full cruising trim possible. The 62 has had easy class wins in the ARC, also getting cruising line honours and being the first to finish in all cruising classes with 178 yachts astern. In Antigua Sailing Week, a 62 won all five races in Cruising Class 1. An accomplished circumnavigator, the 62  Quest  was sailed around the world with a very young family and without crew. America’s Cup and Fastnet winner, Gary Jobson sailed a 62 to the Arctic, reaching 80 degrees north.

We had a beautiful day out on the water with Captain Leo. He is a very nice host and the yacht is very comfortable with lots of spaces to sit and relax and to mingle with different parts of your group privately.

Leo was a great host. We were late and he made sure we got our full four hours. He also made sure we got amazing backdrops for our group photos. It was seriously such an amazing experience. Leo was so personable and very responsive to any questions we had. His boat actually looks better in person than in the photos! We thoroughly had an amazing time with Leo. Already thinking about booking with him again this summer!

Ryan

Leo was amazing. His boat was very clean and had everything we needed. Lots of room in the boat. Leo was very helpful with his instructions. He even went somewhere and bought ice pack for us before we leave. His attitude is the best! He is also a great captain!

Leo was wonderful and the boat was perfect for my group. It was super spacious, we loved how he had speakers, karaoke, and a grill!

Leo was a very accommodating and amazing captain! Pictures on the posting are very accurate. Boat is very clean and organized. He was very nice about some of us being late. Once we were on board he gave us instructions and a few different routes that we could take. Very nice person and had some good conversations. Would highly recommended booking with captain Leo!
