13 Feet 1950 Speedliner Typhoon

This is a rare model of Speedliner. The Typhoon was designed as a "C"-Service and "D"-Stock racing runabout. The boat underwent a complete restoration using the original General Marine #313144 boat as a pattern. It is complete with a all hardware Keller steering wheel, CW throttle, Merc. KG9 tachometer and Muskegon speedometer. Includes a restored matching #'s 1953 Mercury Mark 40H #712955. The Gear foot was rebuilt by Ron Thomas. Trailer is included.

21 Feet 1987 Scorpion

Originally sold out of Clayton, NY. Scorpion was a manufacturer out of Canada who built attractive performance boats. The 300hp Mercury Tempest have approximately 500 original hours. Upholstery has been redone, new floor, and repainted decks. Turnkey and ready for new ownership.

28 Feet 1968 Bertram Baron

"Chicken of the Sea" is one of the known few 28 Barons left. She has been extremely well maintained with the following restored items: in 2006, Stringers and transom were replaced, engines rebuilt, and boat completely Awlgrip painted. In 2018 the Volvo outdrives were rebuilt. 162 hours on engines and 0 hours on outdrives since rebuild. Only thing needed is new power tilt motor on starboard side. Comes on a Tri-axle American trailer. This boat has spent most of its life since the work in storage with very little use. A very important piece of power boat history in excellent shape!

26 Feet 2009 Fish Bros. El Lagarto Replica

One of the most prolific Gold Cup racers of the 1930's, "El Lagarto" was the first 3-time consecutive winner of the APBA Gold Cup, 1933-1935. Originally designed and built in 1922 by John Hacker, she was later modified following the APBA rule changes in 1929 to allow for stepped/shingled bottoms. El Lagarto received a 5-step bottom treatment and replacement power from a 621cid Packard engine. "Outlaw" is a reproduction of El Lagarto's hull, as it raced post-1930. She has been finished with a deep black hull and beautiful dark mahogany decks. Powered with a 454cid GM engine, she is a strong performer.

This DONZI Sweet Sixteen is a very original two-owner boat that has always lived on Lake George. Holman Moody 289 Ford V8 was completely rebuilt by StormCrank Engineering in 2021, along with new intake manifold, Holly 650 4 barrel carburetor, new exhaust manifolds other engine accessories. Bullet-proof Volvo 280 outdrive recently serviced. The engine has break-in hours only. Original interior upholstery replaced in correct patterns & vinyl match. New Sunbrella top in 2021. Always stored indoors. Additional original equipment included is a green tinted windscreen, trailer with new tires & lights, zippered cockpit cover and Holman Moody exhaust manifolds. 18 Feet 1993 Packard Gentleman's Racer

One of only three “Gentleman's Racers” commissioned by the Packard Boat Company to be hand built by upstate NY boat builder John Ford as well as Gary Scherb of Old Time Boats in Florida. The three boats were personally ordered by Bud Finkl, president of the Packard Boat Company and are based off of lengthened plans of the Hacker Speedster 16'. Of the three boats built, this was the president's own personal boat that he kept from new until his passing. This boat is powered by a Chevrolet V6 by specially built by Flagship Marine Engines in Punta Gorda, Florida. The transmission is said to be have been built by the Chevrolet Corvette racing team and was told the running gear was $30,000 the time. Boat is capable of speeds of 40-45 mph and uses hydraulic steering for easy controls. Wood is Honduras mahogany and coated with epoxy sealer with 12-14 coats of varnish and has a beautiful, deep finish. Packard Boat Company of Sarasota, Florida designed and custom built retro-styled powerboats from 1988 to 2002 in very limited numbers and were known for their very high quality and great handling based off of 1920's-30's designs. The Packard Boat Company President, Bud Finkl was a retired engineer, boat racer and a 3rd generation steel worker and his family originally made parts for the Packard Automobile and Boat engines. Per Boats.com “For Bud Finkl, the president and CEO of Packard Boats, classic "gentlemen's runabouts" are something he remembers from his childhood not only because his family had several, but because his father's General Marine Corp. built more than 2000 mahogany runabouts between 1939 and WWII.” Bud Finkl wanted an all wood racer of his youth resulting in this specially commissioned boat with a “2 person seated pilot area in the rear with a forward 2 passenger seat just forward of the midships.” Titled a “1918 Packard,” it was completed in 1993. Bud Finkl showed this boat from NY to Florida and the family said it was only used in fresh water, which is evident by it's excellent condition. After Bud's death, the family kept the boat in their collection for another 13 years. The previous owner acquired directly from the Finkl's family. Boat measures at 18' with a beam of 5', the boat has always been garage kept and never used in salt. The second sister boat, “Pub Decisions” is in Oklahoma while the third boats whereabouts are unknown. Boat includes photos of Bud Finkl personally driving this boat. Custom built tilt trailer with integrated fuel tank.

12 Feet 1967 Sid Son D-Class Outboard Hydroplane

This is a very nice example of a Sid Son, D-Class hydroplane built in Edison, NJ. She has been fully restored and only needs her fabric decks covered, painted, and the hardware reinstalled. The seller is offering the boat complete with all new Ceconite deck material, three 6' sections of polished aluminum nose trim, transom handles and nose handle which have been rechromed, the original aluminum flip-top fuel tank, steering wheel/hub/pulleys, and the original deadman's throttle. There is also a set of reprodution Sid Son decals and a new turn-fin to be mounted. The original Sid Son ID plate is also included with the boat. This is an easy project to finish off and all of the difficult work has been completed.

17 Feet 1965 Lauterbach 225 Class Inboard Hydroplane

Dynasty is a 225cid N-Class inboard hydrplane, powered by an aluminum block Buick 215cid, 300hp engine. She is a classic Lauterbach design that was built by Alan Blide in the 1960's. She was found in dry storage after 34 years and her refit was completed in 1999. Dynasty is a turn-key example that is ready to enjoy on the vintage hydroplane circuit. Previously clocked at 112mph on radar. A reliable and well-built example; she needs nothing at this time and is complete with a custom trailer to go anywhere! A large amount of documentation comes with the boat. Last run in Wolfboro in 2012, she has been campaigned on the vintage circuit since 2000 and is being offered for sale for the first time.

38 Feet 1932 Gar Wood Raceboat "Miss America X"

Arguably the most prolific and significant raceboat and American history, "Miss America X", U-10, was the finale in Garfield Wood's dominance of the powerboat racing and world record setting career. Between 1920 and 1933, Gar Wood's boats won each Harmsworth Trophy Contest, the world's most recognized race and speed record setting event. "Miss America X" featured a quartet of highly tuned Packard V12 engines and was the first boat in history to achieve more than 2 miles per minute, topping out at 125.4 MPH in 1932. The craft defended the title once again in 1933 and was subsequently retired, but held the record well into the mid 1960's. The boat was acquired from the Wood family by William Harrah, American businessman and founder of Harrah Casinos in Las Vegas, later becoming Caesar's Palace. She was purchase from the Harrah estate and has been under single ownership for many decades, being offered on the market for the first time. Following a series of boat show and regatta appearances in the 1980's, "Miss America X" was comprehensively restored by Mayea Boatworks in the mid 1990's and has been on permanent display since this time.

Original owner. My wife's father bought the hull in 1953 direct from Mandella. It has a Glenwood V-Drive with a 390 with approx 3 hours on it. We have a lot of photos and a book of what the boat has been through during ownership and restoration. We had it restored about 10 years ago including rebuilding the engine. We also have original Mandella decals. It is in beautiful condition. [Price reduced to $15.900 on 10/29/2020! Make an offer for this beauty!]

19 Feet 1969 Challenger Boat Company Cobra

Bought as a project and restored over a 10 year period. The boat has 17 coats of paint and 7 coats of clear coat. It has been in the water once since restoration and was clocked at 138 MPH at only 3000 RPM's. A very fast boat and really good looking.

18 Feet 1935 Leaveau Hydroplane Reproduction "Ednandy III"

"Ednandy III" is a meticulous reproduction of the winning Leveau Hydroplane that appeared in the 225cid class during the mid 1930's. The original hull set world records of 46-49mph with its original 155hp Lycoming engine. Leveau was the chief designer of the Dodge Boat & Plane Co. between 1929 and 1935. Best known for his racing designs, Leveau was responsible for some of the most inconic Dodge watercraft. This reproduction is adequately powered with a Chevrolet V6 engine producing over 225hp. A single axle trailer is included, but sold on a bill of sale only.

15 Feet 1936 Outboard Racing Runabout

This is remarkable boat that was raced in the Northwest for many years. It has not been restored, rather it has been meticulously cared for and even has its original lettering on the hull sides. It is a double cockpit configuration.

72 Feet 1938 Sparkman and Stephens Sailing Yawl

The legendary Sparkman and Stephens racing yacht Baruna is available. Handcrafted over a 7 year period, working nights and weekends. This 20 foot Racer is powered by a 350 cu. in. Mercruiser 350 hp Fuel Injected Black Scorpion engine. With many personalized upgrades and hardware castings that were first carved from wood, this boat is one of a kind and must be seen to be believed. It has custom cast fittings and is constructed with the finest wood.

Quarterly Spotlight

Born into an aristocratic air of racy intrigue, SUMURUN’s charms have wooed a select band of suitors since her launch at Fairlie. A legend in many lifetimes, SUMURUN is one of the most exquisite of William Fife’s large ‘fast cruisers’. For almost 110 years this 94ft ketch, formerly yawl, has been in commission and loved, most recently by the current owner who treated SUMURUN to a major 2017-2019 refit at Chantier du Guip. Return to classic racing late in 2019 was triumphant, with victory at Saint-Tropez. Rigged as a bermudan ketch since 1935, this handy configuration was retained but brought subtly up to date by Juan Kouyoumdjian. Under it, SUMURUN is perhaps consistently faster than ever, yet retains the ability to cross oceans comfortably; something she has quite a reputation for. “Form is temporary; class is permanent.”

The term classic boat can be seen as subjective but allows us to enjoy and explore a rich and historic look back at some of the most beautiful craft ever built over hundreds of years. Some classic power boats and classic sailing yachts of which have great racing records whilst others represent design milestones in the development of sailing yachts, traditional river boats , commercial vessels or contemporary classics such as the historic Dunkirk Little Ship .

Usually, the build date is before 1970, however, now many modern boats are crafted in a classic build theme following traditional build criteria and the term modern classic is now commonplace when looking at this type of boat.

As the classic boat area is a very niche marketplace we recommend you talk to a specialist in this field when deciding on your purchase, they will advise you on the best boat to suit your needs, offer advice for ongoing maintenance and storage and explore your options with your best interest at heart.

Moonbeam of fife iii, 1903.

The 30 metre, gaff cutter Moonbeam of Fife III epitomises beautiful classic yachts at their finest. Launched in 1903, Moonbeam of Fife is still going strong on the classic yacht regatta circuit despite being more than a hundred years old. The William Fife-designed yacht is constructed in wood with an oak hull and superstructure, while her interior joinery is well-kept mahogany. The historical yacht Moonbeam of Fife III is currently for sale .

Tuiga, 1909

Built by the renowned William Fife shipyard in Fairlie on the Clyde estuary in Scotland, Tuiga was commissioned by the Duke of Medinaceli, a close friend of the King of Spain, Alfonso XIII, and has had 10 owners in 106 years. HSH Prince Albert II decided to buy her in 1995.  Tuiga  has been participating in classic yacht regattas ever since and is now the flagship of the Yacht Club de Monaco, crewed by YCM members.

Mariette, 1915

The classic 42 metre twin-masted schooner _ Mariette of 1915  _was built by Herreshoff in the United States 100 years ago. Age has not withered her, but  Mariette of 1915  has undergone a few refits in the Pendennis yard at Falmouth in recent years: in 2010 and again in 2012 in preparation for the Pendennis Cup, in which she took first prize in the St Petroc Traditional Class as well as being crowned overall winner. In 2014 she returned to Falmouth once more for minor works.

Creole, 1927

Now owned by the Gucci family, this beautiful wooden schooner has had a colourful history. Commissioned by wealthy American Alan Cochran and launched in 1927,  Creole  has had a number of different owners and also been called Vira. When she was known as  Magic Circle , she was transformed into a minesweeper during the Second World War, having previously competed in a number of regattas and attended previous America’s Cup events. In the 1970s she was used by the Danish government for sailing training in the rehabilitation of drug addicts before being bought by the Gucci family in 1983.

Endeavour, 1934

Arguably the world’s most famous J Class,  Endeavour  was the British challenger in the 1934 America’s Cup , but was beaten by the Harold Vanderbilt-owned Rainbow . Endeavour was commissioned by Sir T.O.M. Sopwith, who was keen to ensure that this yacht was the most advanced design possible. With his experience designing aircraft, Sopwith applied aviation technology to Endeavour ’s rig and winches and spared nothing to make her the finest vessel of her day.

She swept through the British racing fleet and into the hearts of yachtsmen around the world, winning many races in her first season. Though she did not win the America's Cup she came closer to doing so than any other challenger.

Since 1934, she has often led a perilous existence, even being sold to a scrap merchant in 1947 only to be saved by another buyer hours before her demolition was due to begin. In 1984, American yachtswoman Elizabeth Meyer bought Endeavour and she was transformed and rebuilt by Royal Huisman. Endeavour sailed again on June 22, 1989, for the first time in 52 years. J Class yacht  Endeavour  is now for sale .

Elena, 1910

In 1910, Morton Plant commissioned 55 metre  Elena to be designed by American naval architect Nathanael Herreshoff, the so-called “Wizard of Bristol”, who made his name designing sailing yachts for America’s elite. Plant's brief was to the point: he wanted a schooner “that can win”.

Herreshoff gave Elena a slightly deeper keel than preceding designs of that time, lowering her centre of ballast, which improved her windward ability. Elena won most of her early races against the cream of the American schooner fleet and in 1928 came her crowning glory, victory in the Transatlantic Race. In 2009, she was rebuilt using the original plans for the first Elena.

Black Swan, 1899

Originally designed by Charles Nicholson and built in 1899 at Camper and Nicholson in Gosport, England, Black Swan started life as Brynhild with a yawl rig. She won a number of races at the beginning of the 20th century, including the King’s Cup. Over the years, she has undergone several changes and different rig configurations, and at one stage she was renamed Changrilla . She was rechristened Black Swan in the 1960s and, today, after an extensive restoration project at the Beconcini yard in La Spezia, Italy, she is now carrying a gaff-rig, designed by the Faggioni Yacht Design Studio and built by Harry Spencer.

Mariquita, 1911

Another beautiful classic yacht from Fife, Mariquita was launched in 1911. The 38.16 metre sailing yacht was designed and built for the industrialist Arthur Stothert. As part of the 19 metre Big Class racing that re-emerged in 1911, this gaff-rigged cutter is said to have inspired the J Class yachts that came after her.

She raced competitively against her brethren from 1911-1913, but by the 1950s, Mariquita was the last in the 19 metre class remaining. She was restored in 1991 and received a further refit in 2004. A star on the classic yacht racing scene, Mariquita is now for sale .

New Yachts on the Market: Latest Racing & Cruising Designs

In the market for a racing or cruising yacht? It’s been another bumper year for the boatbuilding industry… Sam Jefferson casts his eye over the latest launches.

New yachts: cruising, wauquiez 55.

Wauquiez is a marque that has been much revered in cruising circles since they first started building elegant cruisers back in the 1960s. Their new 55 boat is definitely intriguing and one of the striking features is the centre cockpit with the helm offset to port under a well protected solid plexiglass sprayhood.  Another interesting feature is the option of a swing keel which gives you an almighty 4.2m of draft when lowered and 1.6m when raised. Aside from that, the boat dares to be different by supplying two Volvo D2 engines as standard.  The interior looks extremely spacious and Lombard has capitalised on full forward sections and plenty of beam to ensure that there is a huge interior space. In addition, the centre cockpit allows for a huge aft owner’s cabin.

Moody 48 DS

Moody has been under German ownership as part of the Hanse group for many years now and offers a different sort of cruiser in quality deck saloon cruisers which are designed by Judel/Vrolijk. The new 48 is the first new launch they have made since their 41 2017 and fits between the Moody 45 and 54 in their range. As you’d expect, this is a boat that is big on space and comfort, featuring a big, beamy hull with twin rudders. Performance has not been neglected, however, because she sports a generous rig to push her 21,000kg displacement through the water.

Hanse Yachts broke with go to designer of many years Judel/Vrolijk a couple of years back and this was the catalyst behind the launch of a new generation of Hanses designed by the French team of Berret/Racoupeau. In addition to a marked change in styling, with inverted ‘dreadnought bow and hard chines aft giving the boats a more angular look, the main drive seemed to be to up the quality of the boats down below – which was certainly achieved. The new 590 is their biggest boat yet of this new generation and offers easy sailing on a big scale. The new boat features an optional hard top bimini, a tender garage and acres of space down below. The boat will be officially unveiled at Cannes Boat show and promises to be a head turner.

New Cruising Yacht: Maxus 35

Maxus Yachts is a Polish company that made its name. building small trailerable yachts to sail on the Masurian lakes not far from the Russian border. Now the company has moved up a size bracket and their new 35 is bigger and aimed more at offshore sailing than previous designs. The result is a spacious yacht with striking styling and a semi deck saloon arrangement that bathes the saloon with natural light. It all points to promises decent performance and accommodation at a highly competitive price.

French manufacturer Dufour has really pumped up the volume with its latest generation of yachts. The new Umberto Felci designed 44 follows on from the 37 and 41 which have already drawn plaudits thanks to their remarkable ability to create internal volume without looking overly dumpy. The 44 continues in this vein boasting plentiful beam aft and full sections at the bow above the waterline. The interior is positively palatial and there is a choice of three or four cabin layouts.

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350 is the successor to the 349 which was actually launched way back in 2013. At 34’1” excluding the bowsprit she is the starter boat in the range and viewed by the French manufacturer as offering a gateway into sailing for young families.

The boat is designed by Marc Lombard and Piaton Yacht design and, as you’d expect the lines are bang up to date, offering plenty of internal volume via fuller forward sections. Like its predecessor the 349, the new boat is available with a swing keel – a real boon in UK waters. The interior is really quite large and there is the option of twin doubles aft plus a double forward.

Elan GT6 Explorer

The Elan GT6 was a very stylish fast cruiser from drawing board of rob Humphreys that has been very well received since its launch. The GT6 Explorer is, as you can imagine a variation on this theme but the manufacturers have identified rthe potential of the boat as a fast blue water cruiser and built on that. As such, the boat fuel and water tankage has been boosted as has battery power. There is also the option of an all electric version utilising Oceanvolt’s pioneering technology.

It has been some years since Danish manufacturers X Yachts realised that if they offered a de tuned Xc cruising range alongside its out and out performance yachts, it would massively enlarge its customer base. The project was a huge success and the Xc range is now into its second generation with the launch of the Xc47. The new launch is one of the first since X Yachts divorce from founder and chief designer Niels Jeppesen and the result is a yacht that leans heavily towards the cruising market, featuring something not far from a deck saloon. The hull lines feature plenty of beam aft and there has obviously been a very conscious effort to up the cruising ante. That said, the boat retains a powerful rig and weight has been kept reasonably modest.

New Yachts: Racing

Ran 8 is one of the latest launches from the drawing board of Shaun Carkeek and is a boat that has already cut a dash by taking overall and line honours in the RORC Channel Race. This is a boat that comes from the same mould as Oystercatcher XXXV, launched to much fanfare in 2021. The new boat boasts an uprated water ballast system which is designed to reduce the number of crew required from eight to seven. In addition to this, electric propulsion has been introduced. 

The boat is not designed to one particular set of rules and the main aim is simply to design a boat that will go as fast as possible in a range of conditions. The result is a boat optimised for offshore conditions, in which she will be somewhat quicker than a TP52.

Jeanneau Sun Fast 30

The Sun Fast 30 is a VPLP project who have teamed up with Multiplast to produce a strict one design yacht at what Jeanneau feels is a competitive price. The new boat features full forward sections married to light (2,700kg) displacement, twin rudders and flat aft sections to provide a boat that planes easily and early. The boat is available in two versions: One Design and Club. The one design version features a carbon mast mainsheet track and uprated electronics pack. The Club version has an aluminium mast and a bridle for the mainsheet. The aim is to make it more affordable to club racers.

Clubswan 28: Racing

The Clubswan 28 is a something of a break from tradition for Nautor Swan who have never produced a yacht this small. She rounds off their ClubSwan range and is a pure one design racer set up for four crew. At 1000kg, this Juan Kouyoumdijan design is going to be fast but she appears to be much less technical than boats higher up the range, eschewing foils and keeping things as simple as possible. There is no accommodation.

Reichel/Pugh 56 Vasara

The design house of Reichel/Pugh has produced some memorable yachts over the years and  the design brief here was for a fast, competitive yacht that was also comfortable and luxuriously appointed down below. There are a number of interesting touches. Most notably, a split backstay and square topped mainsail can be switched out for a single backstay and standard main when cruising. The keel has a substantial 4.1m depth but this can be raised to 2.4m for entering port. The interior is constructed almost exclusively out of carbon but a thin veneer of wood is placed over this to soften things up. The result is a sleek and versatile racer/cruiser.

New Yachts: Bluewater Cruisers

Bestavaer Yachts is a Dutch boatbuilder specialising in steel construction. They are reputed for building handsome steel ‘go anywhere’ yachts, generally in the 50-70’ bracket. The announcement of an all new 36 footer is therefore something of a surprise and not an unwelcome one. The new boat marries a big rig with a decent displacement ot provide a boat that is both seaworthy but none too slow. As with her bigger sisters, the 36 is designed to be a very practical ctuiser and is therefore equipped with a swing keel which will allow her to take the ground when required and the draft is a mere 0.7m with the board up and a substantial 2.4m with the board down.

Boreal Yachts sit in that very French cadre of utilitarian aluminium ‘go anywhere’ yachts much loved by soul sailors who idolise Moitessier and dream of communing with the albatross. Yet these soul sailors seem to have developed a taste for a spot of luxury too and the Boreal 70 is typical of the latest iteration of these hardy swing keel boats in that she is huge and surprisingly well appointed, boating such luxuries as a dishwasher should you so wish to choose that option. Sacre bleu! Nevertheless, this is a tough go anywhere cruiser which is at home in the tropics or the high latitudes.

Hallberg Rassy 69

Swedish manufacturer Hallberg Rassy is an institution in the world of blue water cruising. Yet it’s an institution that isn’t afraid to evolve and many were shocked when the boatbuilder started to introduce twin rudders and broader aft sections to its designs. The 69 is another step forward, being the largest boat ever built by the Swedes and nudging towards the cadre of pocket superyacht. The boat is designed by German Frers and features a big rig and contemporary lines familiar to those who are familiar with the most recent launches from the yard. The difference with the 69 is she is just a lot bigger and more luxurious. Far not though, the trademark Hallberg Rassy armchairs are still an option.

Contest 63CS

Dutch boatbuilder Contest is famed for building high quality blue water cruisers and their all new 63CS looks straight out of that playbook. Designed by their go to nabal architects Judel/Vrolijk, this is a big, luxurious cruising yacht that will boat good performance particularly for those who love a spot of tradewind sailing. This is a centre cockpit yacht with a relatively modest 31,900kg displacement and a decent sail area pointing to a very versatile long distance cruiser.

Italian manufacturer Grand Soleil seems to have been producing ever larger cruiser/racers so news of the launch of the Grand soleil Blue, a 30’ weekender is welcome. The boat is very interesting as it is the first fully recyclable production yacht built in Italy and features biodegradable resins in construction meaning that the boat ban be separated out and re used at the end of the boats life. The boat also features and electric motor and sails made of recycled materiels. The design is clearly performance oriented but there is pleasant and stylish weekend accommodation.

Saffier SL 46

Dutch manufacturer Saffier Yachts has specialised in turning out fast, stylish weekend sailers with an emphasis on performance and ease of use. That is, until now. By launching the new SL 46 the boatbuilders has moved into an altogether new realm as this boat is unquestionably a cruiser/racer capable of offshore passages. This is an intriguing move, as it pitches Saffier against a plethora of established operators such as Grand Soleil, Italia Yachts, even Beneteau and Jeanneau. Anyway, the SL 46 looks the part, featuring modern aggressive styling couple to a big rig, light displacement and a deep, T-shaped keel. The interior looks stylish and luxurious and the boat is available with the option of a tender garage – something of an oddity in a 46 footer.

Tofinou 7.9

The new Tofinou 7.9 follows in the vein of other yachts in their range in that she is a performance oriented modern classic day sailer. As the name suggests, the boat is 7.9m making her the smallest boat in the range and she is available with a swing keel or fixed T shaped keel. The boat is available with an electric outboard or a diesel inboard and offers a blend of lustrous woods and light carbon laminates which gives the boat a classy air while also promising exhilarating sailing. There is also a small double berth forward if you do want to spend a night afloat.

La Rochelle based RM Yachts has made a name for itself by being the last company standing when it comes to the mass production of epoxy/ply yachts. This is partly because it’s hideously complicated to put together an epoxy/ply yacht. The result, however, is a lightweight yacht that is stiff and strong. RM has made a name for building sporty cruiser/racers with the option of lift, fixed or bilge keels. The 1080 is a welcome mid sized addition to their range. Designed by Marc Lombard, the 1080 features plenty of beam aft, fullish forward sections and generous sail area. The looks are distinctive and the cockpit layout is innovative plus interior space is impressive.
