Vancouver Island has become a sought after yacht rental destination for a variety of reasons. First of all, it is the biggest island on the western side of North America. It is the largest island in Canada with the second highest population density. The island is eminently positioned and the clear blue skies coupled with the calm water make for a perfect Vancouver Island yacht vacation. The island is also known for its vast and deep waters. Vancouver Island is surrounded by the straits of Georgia, Johnstone and Charlotte on the Canadian side and Strait of Juan de Fuca on the American side. The island has a stunning topography to explore consisting of mountain ranges and natural forests. The Golden Hinde Mountain stands at 2,195 meters above sea level and it is one of the highest elevations in Canada. From your Vancouver Island yacht you can enjoy a fantastic view of the inlets, fjords and deep bays teeming with wildlife. Apart from the deep blue seas and the mountainous regions you can also include a visit to the popular Red Cedar, Garry Oak, Manzanita and Douglas Fir forests in your Vancouver Island yacht charter itinerary. These dense forests are normally located in the less cold regions situated in the central, western and northern sides of the island. In these lush green forests you will be able to see some of the most unique species such as Roosevelt, Elk and Marmot.
