U-Boat Worx unveils the Nautilus underwater superyacht at the Monaco Yacht Show

At the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show the Dutch builder U-Boat Worx will review designs for the 1,250-ton, 37.5-meter Yacht Submarine, the Nautilus . Once it is built, the vessel will be equally at ease functioning as a yacht or a submersible. Since Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea came out in 1870, people have been dreaming of a luxury yacht with dive capabilities. Since then, inventors produced a lot of impressive concepts. Unfortunately, not one of these designs has ever been realised.

Being the world leader in the market for small submersibles, U-Boat Worx has now finally succeeded in engineering a realistic combination of luxury and safety in a fully certified private submersible. The diesel-electric Nautilus has a depth rating of 200 meters, with a surface cruise speed of 9 knots and an underwater speed of 4 knots. Once ordered, an owner can expect to have their Nautilus delivered within 30 months. When functioning as a boat, the Nautilus offers a massive sundeck equipped with a freshwater pool, a bar, and a luxurious dining table. This al fresco arrangement is retracted before the submersible slips below sea level.

A newly invented, completely pressure-resistant electrical tender is stowed under the Nautilus’s aft deck and will stay outside while diving. This tender, the Aronnax, may also be used for transporting five scuba divers underwater to the intended dive spot.

The Nautilus interior features a 50 sq. m dinner and lounge area with four circular windows. Each with diameters close to 4 meters. The proposed design for the submarine has a master bedroom and four staterooms, as well as sleeping quarters for up to six crew. A fully equipped galley makes cooking an underwater meal simple and fun. However, interior layouts are fully customisable by the client.

The superyacht submarine will be able to stay under water for up to four days. At cruise speed, the underwater endurance is six hours.

When not in use, the Nautilus can be docked at any quay that can accommodate its 6.5-meter draft.

The Nautilus has a starting price of € 25 million.

“People that have decided to buy a yacht will now have to consider if their vessel of choice can also dive down to 200 meters,” says U-Boat Worx Chairman and Founder Bert Houtman .

As an added bonus, the Nautilus easily combats seasickness. “If the sea becomes too rough,” says Houtman , “You simply dive and continue your voyage in comfort. With the Nautilus, the yachting market will never be the same again.”

Tour the World’s Most Luxurious Submarine Superyacht

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Boat and Submarine

If yacht owners really want to put everyone at port to shame, they should consider sailing on the Migaloo Private Submersible Yacht. A concept yacht created by Migaloo, an Austrian design and engineering firm, the line of luxury superyachts offers a range of bespoke underwater crafts that vary in size. After sailing the new Migaloo submersible yacht on the water, owners can close up the decks and turn the craft into a fully operational submarine.

“What we are attempting to do is to create a living space where exterior and interior interact in harmony,” says Christian Gumpold, managing director and head of design at Migaloo. With rooms that open to the ocean for dining alfresco while above water, and large viewing galleries for taking in the marine life when submersed, the Migaloo creates that harmony. What’s more, the firm reaffirms its focus on luxury with optional amenities that include helipads, swimming pools, movie theaters, elevators, wine cellars, libraries, and private terraces.

Of course, safety is a major focal point as well. Each superyacht will be built to U.S. Navy SUBSAFE safety standards, which ensure that the interiors will stay watertight and the vessel can recover from unanticipated flooding. According to Migaloo, solitude is a major point of interest for yacht owners, which is why the ability to dive beneath the surface and out of view might have great appeal. “Privacy is a big issue on superyachts,” says Gumpold, “our answer to this concern is simply submerging the vessel into complete privacy.”

The best submarines for superyachts

More than 80% of the world’s oceans remain unexplored but discovering the depths might be easier than you think. Built to cater from one to six guests and tailored to fit the weight and height restrictions of a superyacht tender garage, a personal submarine lets you explore the underwater world like never before. Dive into our edit of the best submersibles on the market...

U-Boat Worx Nexus

Dutch submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx has added a new nine-person model to its line-up of deep-diving subs. With a maximum depth of 200m, the Nexus can operate for 18 hours, diving up to 10 times a day. Two designs have been revealed in the new series, both featuring an extra-large elliptical acrylic pressure hull and revolving seating arrangement for cinematic style viewing. An extra-large hatch has also been included on board the Nexus, allowing passengers to keep their dignity while entering and exiting the submersible.

Triton 600/2

Meet Triton's smallest and lightest submersible to date. Weighing just 2,500kg and standing 1.47m tall, the 660/2 packs the power of Triton's pro flagship submersible into a svelte new design which can slot into most superyacht tender garages without a hitch. The perfect size for owners looking to pilot their own submarine, two people can dive down to a depth of 200 metres and power along the seabed at a top speed of four knots for up to six hours. With numerous customisation options on offer, you can even tailor the sub to match its mothership.

NEMO Submersible

NEMO is the smallest member of the U-Boat Worx fleet, offering a slick, deep-diving sub in a lightweight 2,500kg package. Designed with the yacht market in mind, the NEMO submersible can dive to depths of 100 metres with room for two, and at 2.3 metres wide requires less storage space than a pair of Jet Skis. Meanwhile, a simple launch and recovery system allows for ease of operation thanks to a single lifting point. At the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show, U-Boat Worx a single-seat version of the NEMO submersible named NEMO 1.

This three-person submarine is capable of diving to 457m and offers some clever onboard extras. The Aurora-3C is able to tilt at surface, providing a stable platform for boarding when stepping across from a superyacht. And by moving the hatch away from the top of the window and into a separate compartment, the model offers a greater field of view. The submarine's low height and even lower hoist point make an ideal for setup in confined spaces – say a superyacht tender garage - without compromising on comfort, practicality, and performance. The Aurora-3C also offers extras including a robotic arm, HD video systems and a fly-out rover with HD camera. You can even customise the colour.

Project Neptune

Project Neptune is the result of a collaboration between submarine specialist Triton and British car marque Aston Martin. This three-person submersible combines all the practical and technical elements of deep-sea exploration with a level of finesse and style that’s quintessentially Aston Martin. Able to dive to 500m, Project Neptune offers a bulbous cabin for panoramic views and a sleek, compact multihull silhouette for optimal speed and style under the waves. While a top speed of five knots might not sound like much – particularly for an Aston Martin – it’s actually four times the acceleration of Triton’s flagship 3300/3 submarine. Inside, a custom interior features hand-stitched leather and carbon-fibre trim.

U-Boat Worx Super Yacht Sub 3

Known for their reliable, workhorse subs used for scientific exploration, Dutch builder U-Boat Worx has a personal submarine specifically for superyachts. The Super Yacht Sub 3 is compact, lightweight with a virtually unimpeded view underwater. With a length of less than 3.2m and weighing 3,800kg, the sub is easy to fit on board, and can dive to 300m with a top speed of three knots. A retractable freeboard extender makes on-the-water boarding a breeze while the interior is kitted in out plush leather seats for comfortable cruising. Bonus features include a Bluetooth sound system and a cold-storage box.

Seamagine Aurora-6S

Created to give guests a completely immersive experience in the watery world below, SEAmagine’s Aurora series of submersibles features a massive glass bulb for unparalleled views as she dives up to 1,000m at a max speed of three knots for eight hours. The Californian company’s largest luxury sub, the Aurora-6S, seats five passengers and one pilot. A single-point hoist makes for uncomplicated launching, while an ergonomically designed aft section and telescopic handrails ease boarding. The entire set-up is ideal for deep-sea exploration with the family in tow. The Aurora-6S’s weight and size can be customised to suit the mothership, as can the colour.

Triton 1650/3

Triton's 1650/3 is the world's lightest and most compact three-person submersible. Designed to launched from a standard superyacht tender garage, the model takes up less space than a pair of Jet Skis when stowed but can still dive to depths of 500 metres.  Whether exploring coral reefs or shipwrecks, pilots and passengers will benefit from near 360-degree views thanks to a bulbous acrylic cabin and when it's time to resurface, a single lift point makes recovery a breeze.

The U-Boat Worx Super Yacht Sub 3 Personal Submarine Has Very Deep Potential

If you thought your yacht was too small for a submersible , the new U-Boat Worx Super Yacht Sub 3 will deep-six that sentiment. The same Netherlands -based builders that introduced the C-Explorer 3 last year have billed their latest addition as the most compact three-person submersible on the market—besting their smallest previous offering, the HP Sport Sub 2 . The approximately 10-foot × 8-foot craft weighs less than 8,300 pounds and fits in a standard shipping container.

Another feature that competitors have yet to fathom is the ability to upgrade the sub’s depth potential, progressive to the owner’s experience level. The base model is rated to about 300 feet but can be upgraded to go as far as 984 feet deep. The hull—made from acrylic and steel—maintains the same atmospheric pressure as when at the surface and provides a hyper-hemispheric field of view as passengers lounge in leather seats and air-conditioned comfort while listening to a Bluetooth sound system. The vessel is accessed from the top hatch, which incorporates a patent-pending freeboard extender for safe exit, even in high seas.

The aquatic conveyance can reach up to 2.8 knots, propelled by a brushless, direct-current motor complemented by four thrusters (two horizontal and two vertical). Navigation is facilitated by a specially designed joystick controller that allows for depth and heading to be held automatically. For safety, a dead man’s switch (DMS) requires the pilot to press a button every 10 minutes or the sub will ascend. Granting the sub the ability to last 8 hours on a single charge, two 130 VDC lithium-ion battery packs power propulsion while another two 24 VDC packs provide energy for hull operations. An emergency battery can power critical systems for 96 hours.

The Super Yacht Sub 3 will surface for the first time at the Monaco Yacht Show, which takes place from September 23 through 26. The sub’s price is available upon request. ( uboatworx.com )

Experts puzzle over why Bayesian yacht sank. Was it a 'black swan event'?

Portrait of Cybele Mayes-Osterman

The Bayesian set off on a leisurely cruise around Italy's southern coast on a sunny day in late July.

The luxurious super yacht − which boasted one of the largest masts in the world and carried a crew of business moguls, including British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his family and a chair of Morgan Stanley − set sail from the Amalfi Coast, bound for Sicily.

Less than a month later, the ship had sunk 160 feet under the water , leaving its cook dead and six of its passengers, including at least two Americans, missing and prompting a massive search that has drawn international attention.

Now, experts are trying to piece together why in the early hours Monday the Bayesian was quickly pulled under the waves amid a storm that saw at least one tornado spin up over the water.

A perfect storm led to Bayesian sinking, experts say

The combination of unlikely factors that could have contributed to the ship's fate constituted a "black swan event," Matthew Schanck, chairman of the Maritime Search and Rescue Council, told USA TODAY.

The Bayesian was well-built: A 2008 product of Italian ship maker Perini, it was constructed in accordance with international maritime standards and commercially certified by the U.K.'s Maritime and Coastguard Agency, according to Schanck.

The bout of bad weather that swept the area when the ship went down was also out of the ordinary in the northern Mediterranean, "which isn't renowned for prolonged, significant stormy weather," he said.

"The fact that those two elements have then resulted in the foundering of a super yacht is pretty extraordinary," Schanck said. "These things don't happen every day."

After the ship sank just before 5 a.m. local time, 15 people, including a 1-year-old, were pulled from the water. Some were rescued from a life raft by the crew of a ship docked nearby.

Ricardo Thomas, the ship's cook and a native of Antigua, was found dead, according to authorities.

As of Tuesday, six people were missing, including Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter. Several missing passengers were involved in Lynch's trial on fraud charges, including Jonathan Bloomer, a Morgan Stanley chair who served as his character witness, and one of Lynch's attorneys. Lynch, accused of fraud after he sold his company to electronics giant Hewlett-Packard, was acquitted of all charges weeks ago.

Tornado formed over unusually hot water

Storms in the area that night may have whipped up a water spout, a tornado over the water , according to local meteorologists.

It was likely triggered by the water's unusual warmth, said Rick Shema, a certified consulting meteorologist who served in the Navy.

"The water spout was an uncommon occurrence," he said. "But again, these things happen, especially in warmer water."

At 83.7 degrees, water in the area was more than 3 degrees hotter than average on the day the Bayesian sank, likely the result of climate change, Shema said.

"Hurricanes can form at 80 degrees. This was almost four degrees higher than that," he said.

The water spout may have spun up when cooler air dropped from mountainous places nearby onto the hot water, he said. "A water spout is a vortex, basically like a tornado, spinning real fast, sucking up water and moisture as the column rises," he said.

Although water spouts only reach around 120 mph, as compared to tornadoes on land, which can reach up to 300 mph, "you don't need 200 mph to sink a ship," he said.

"Even an average tornado, 120 miles an hour, that's a lot of wind," he said, "which would heel the boat over for sure."

Water spouts spring up suddenly, Shema said. Before they strike, winds can be slow, but "once the water spout comes over, bam, it's on," he said.

Before sunrise, the ship's crew may not have seen the water spout coming. "The visibility was probably a big factor," he said.

With the windows of the yacht opened, as they likely were in the hot weather, the water spout could have triggered water that flooded through the portholes, Shema said, causing the ship to sink.

Tragedy strikes: Scramble to find survivors after Bayesian yacht sinks off Sicily coast

Search continues, but shift to recovery phase approaches

Italian authorities said the Bayesian was probably at anchor when the storm struck, meaning it couldn't maneuver and ride the waves, according to Mitchell Stoller, a captain and maritime expert witness. Other ships in the area that turned on their engines rode out the storm, he said.

"When you're at anchor and you see weather, you start your engine and you put the wind on the bow. You don't let it get on the side," he said.

Schanck said another key question concerns the position of the keel, a heavy weight underneath the boat that acts as a counterbalance to keep it upright, when the ship sank. When lifted, "that's going to affect the stability of the vessel, because, obviously, you've now raised the center of gravity of that vessel," he said.

The Bayesian was floating over 160 feet of water at the time, deep enough that the keel would likely be deployed. But the fact that "the vessel heeled over so heavily makes me question that," Schanck said.

The cause of the disaster may not be known until the ship can be examined in more detail, experts say. Prosecutors in a nearby town have already opened an investigation.

Schanck said investigators will have plenty to work with once the operation moves into a recovery phase.

"The vessel is intact and in good condition on the seabed," he said. "There's a lot of eyewitness accounts from other vessels in the area and the shore."

As the search entered its second day on Tuesday, the rescue effort may shift in that direction soon. "I suspect, later on, today or tomorrow, we'll probably see some mention of a recovery operation being stated," Schanck said.

The decision to would depend on whether rescuers find signs of life in the ship and air pockets or survivable spaces, Schanck said. At this point, survivors on the water's surface looks unlikely. "My professional opinion is that the casualties will be located within the vessel," he said.

"There is a risk versus benefit in all maritime search and rescue incidents," he said. "Where we start transitioning to a recovery phase, that line shifts."

We're pausing our coverage for tonight but here is a recap of what we know:

  • Six people are still missing after the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht, with rescue teams searching off the Sicilian coast for survivors;
  • The Italian coastguard confirmed that the body found after the yacht sank yesterday is that of chef Recaldo Thomas;
  • The coastguard also named more survivors - Leah Randall, Katja Chicken and Leo Eppel;
  • An engineer who led the salvage operation for the wrecked cruise ship Costa Concordia said rescue divers have entered a "critical" 24 hours;
  • The captain of Bayesian spoke for the first time, saying: "We didn't see it coming" in reference to the storm that sank the boat.

Images are emerging of emergency crews working near the site where the yacht sank in Porticello.

Search and rescue efforts by sea and air have so far delivered no results and experts have said we are in a "critical" 24 hours.

Bayesian was moored around half-a-mile off the coast of Porticello when it sank at around 5am local time yesterday.

A friend of Recaldo Thomas, the chef who was killed as the yacht sank, has described him as a "calm spirit" who had a "smile that lit up the room".

Gareth Williams, who grew up with Mr Thomas in Antigua, told the BBC : "I can talk for everyone that knew him when I say he was a well-loved, kind human being with a calm spirit.

"He would come over to mine over the weekend and he would sing. He had the deepest, most sultry voice in the world, and a smile that lit up the room.

"He told me just the other day that he needed to work two more seasons to fix up his late parents' house. He loved yachting, but he was tired."

Mr Thomas was also a Canadian citizen. The country's foreign ministry said it was "aware of reports that a Canadian citizen has died" and that consular officials were in contact with local authorities.

Mike Lynch "lost the last 12 years fighting a ridiculous case", his co-founder has told Sky News.

David Tabizel, who founded the software company Autonomy with Mr Lynch - the sale of which became the subject of the US fraud case - said he was a "legend" and that he had a "very soft spot for him".

"I'm just heartbroken for him and his family and I hope there's a miracle about to occur," he said.

Mr Tabizel said Mr Lynch's "resilience" and "importance to British economy cannot be overstated".

"Now he has passed through this great trauma we were hoping he would lead a new national revolution to help Britain out of its current moribund state," he said.

"If anyone has the resilience to survive this - he does. And I hope he's found an air pocket."

Mr Tabizel added: "He has been one of the most influential, intelligent and most honourable human beings I have ever had the honour of knowing."

Mr Lynch sold Autonomy to US computing giant Hewlett-Packard for $11bn (£8.6bn).

He was accused of conspiracy and attempted fraud over the sale to HP and an intense, multiyear legal battle in the US ensued.

He was acquitted of multiple fraud charges in June after more than a year under house arrest.

CCTV footage showing the yacht moments before it sank has been released.

We reported on separate footage earlier, shot from a villa 200m away from the site of the disaster in Porticello.

The owner of the villa told outlet Giornale Di Sicilia the shots showed the boat sinking in 60 seconds: "You can clearly see what is happening. There was nothing that could be done for the vessel. It disappeared in a very short time."

Experts have said we're in a critical 24 hours in the search for survivors.

Earlier, Nick Sloane, who led the salvage operation for the wrecked cruise ship Costa Concordia, said survivors might be trapped in air pockets, but that time was running out to save them (see post at 12.50pm).

Now Dr Jean-Baptiste Souppez, senior lecturer in mechanical engineering at Aston University, has said the speed at which the vessel sank (a few minutes, according to accounts) and the fact that it remains intact "could favour the formation of small air pockets inside".

While the formation is "highly speculative", he says, there are records of survivors found in such pockets.

"A sign the rescuers may be looking for is a banging noise at regular intervals: this is common practice on submarines, and was one of the signs the search mission for the Titan submarine was looking for after it went missing last year," he says.

"But whether air pockets formed on the Bayesian is simply impossible to predict."

There is a "big question mark" over how the superyacht sunk, the editor-in-chief of BOAT International has told Sky News.

Stewart Campbell said "nothing like this had happened before" in his recollection.

"These boats are built extremely tough. They are built to take on the biggest seas the ocean can throw at them," he said.

"Big volume aluminium boats are very capable. So the fact that a boat like Bayesian can sink in a storm like this is incredibly surprising."

He said even if a ship like this was knocked down "it should be been able to right itself".

"Even if the boat had been dismasted, theoretically the boat should have been even more stable as it would have meant less weight and the keel would then have anchored the boat more firmly in the sea.

"There are lots of questions to be answered.

"At the moment from my point of view and from the people I have spoken to, including captains of similar boats, there is a big question mark over how this happened."

The action of the boat when it was struck by the storm "would have been incredibly violent" and "it should have woken everybody up".

"The crew would have sprung into action and tried to get everyone into life rafts if they thought the boat was in danger," he said.

"We just don't know what situation the boat was in when this storm struck."

The life raft on which survivors are understood to have escaped the sinking yacht has been pictured in the harbour at Porticello in Sicily.

Earlier, Karsten Borner, the captain of a boat that came to their aide, described how he and his crew found the raft with 15 survivors inside and brought them to his ship until help arrived.

He described the situation as "awful and traumatic" for those involved - you can read his comments in full in our post at 10.55am.

Why did the yacht sink? What is happening with the investigation? Who is missing - and why are conspiracy theories already brewing?

Our correspondent Ashna Hurynag, who is at the scene in Sicily, and Danny Fortson, West Coast correspondent for The Sunday Times, who interviewed missing Mike Lynch only weeks ago, answer these questions on today's episode of the Daily podcast, with host Niall Paterson.

You can listen above - and  tap here  to follow wherever you get your podcasts.

The mother of one of the survivors has said she is "beyond relieved" her daughter's life was spared.

Heidi Randall, the mother of crew member Leah Randall, told Sky News: "I'm beyond relieved that my daughter's life was spared by the grace of God.

"It doesn't make it any easier living with the heartache of those who have lost their lives or are missing.

"My very deepest condolences to the chef's family as they formed a great friendship."

Leah Randall, from South Africa, was photographed leaving the coastguard headquarters yesterday, alongside Katja Chicken, her fellow crew member.

The Italian coastguard has also confirmed the name of another crew member.

Leo Eppel was also working on the yacht, spokesman Vincenzo Zagarola said.

What we know about the capsized superyacht off the Sicilian coast

Officials were caught off guard by ferocity of storm that sank ship.

During a vicious storm before dawn on Monday, a superyacht carrying nearly two dozen people suddenly capsized while still anchored and sank within sight of a small Sicilian fishing village. A Canadian-born man who had been working as the on-board cook died, and several others are still missing.

The authorities have yet to determine what caused the yacht to capsize, but here's what we know about the ship.

Who was on board?

Twenty-two people — 10 crew and 12 passengers — were on board the anchored ship when it went down off the coast of Porticello, less than 20 kilometres from the Sicilian capital of Palermo.

They included one of Britain's most recognizable tech entrepreneurs, Mike Lynch, his teenage daughter, his wife, one of his lawyers as well as the president of Morgan Stanley International.

Fifteen people were rescued, including Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares. Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, are among the six people unaccounted for. Luca Cari, a spokesperson for the local fire rescue service, said they are believed to be inside the hull of the sunken ship.

The Italian coast guard said the missing included people with British, American and Canadian nationalities.

A passenger ship anchored nearby, the Sir Robert Baden Powell, found some of the survivors on a life raft and took them on board before the coast guard picked them up.

Rescuers later recovered the body of the ship's cook, who was born in Canada and lived in Antigua.

'It was a big disaster,' boater says of storm that capsized luxury yacht

Salvo Cocina of Sicily's civil protection agency said the missing include: Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife as well as Chris Morvillo, one of Lynch's lawyers, with the firm Clifford Chance, and his wife.

Cocina said the crew and passengers were from a variety of countries, including France, Germany, Ireland, Myanmar, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Spain.

How bad was the storm?

Officials had expected poor weather, but the severity of the storm caught them off guard.

The Italian Air Force's Centre for Aerospace Meteorology and Climatology registered intense lightning activity and strong gusts of wind in the area when the ship sank, according to its director. Col. Attilio Di Diodato told the New York Times he could not rule out that it had been a waterspout  — rotating columns of water that can form over the ocean.

Separately, Cocina told journalists that a waterspout had hit the area overnight.

"It could be that the mast broke or the anchor at the prow pulled it" as the mini tornado hit, fisherman Fabio Cefalu, who helped look for survivors, told The Associated Press.

Karsten Börner, the captain of the nearby ship that helped survivors, said he struggled to control his own ship during what he described as very strong winds.

'The ship behind us was gone,' says captain who rescued yacht passengers

A meteorologist said there was a higher risk of extreme weather in the Mediterranean Sea because recent storms and heavy rainfall after weeks of intense heat affected the water's temperature.

"The sea surface temperature around Sicily was around 30 C, which is almost three degrees more than normal. This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms," Luca Mercalli told Reuters.

"We can't say that this is all due to global warming but we can say that it has an amplifying effect."

What kind of yacht was it?

The Bayesian was 56 metres long — about half the length of an NFL football field. Perini, an Italian firm, built the ship in 2008.

It was named for English statistician Thomas Bayes, whose theories of probability influenced the software Lynch developed and with which he made his fortune.

Refitted in 2020, the ship was notable for its single 75-metre mast — one of the world's tallest made of aluminum. It was lit up at night, including just hours before it sank.

The boat left the Sicilian port of Milazzo on Aug. 14. It was last tracked east of Palermo on Sunday evening with a navigation status of "at anchor," according to vessel tracking app Vesselfinder.

According to the shipspotting.com website, the boat was owned by a firm called Revtom Limited. Lynch's wife is named as the sole shareholder of the firm on company documents.

Where is the wreck now?

Police divers spent the day trying to reach the hull of the ship, which was resting where it had been anchored at a depth of 50 metres off Porticello.

Rescuers returned to the site after 10 p.m. to see if it would be possible to search through the night, when weather conditions were expected to worsen, said Luca Cari with the fire rescue service.

The U.K. Marine Accident Investigation Branch is deploying a team of four inspectors to Italy to conduct a preliminary assessment.
