A curvy, sporty exterior design..

At 50 metres and below 500 GT, Sophia is an all-aluminium, fast-cruising yacht powered by green ocean engines. Heesen’s 50-metre fast-cruising class is the first of its kind below 500 GT to comply with IMO Tier-III regulations. A curvy, sporty exterior design by Omega Architects complements Sophia’s performance and crisp design features.

First Impressions.

Sophia is the fourth sister in this impressive class. Its elevated aft deck holds a large whirlpool with sunpads, which is accessed via three steps up. It’s this subtle design feature that allows for a full height multi-purpose tender garage-cum-luxury beach club on the lower deck, with plenty of head room. Another key exterior feature is the downward pointing bow. This provides a good line of sight to the water from the bridge, and helps to accentuate Sophia's long, sleek profile.

“The whole superstructure is slightly curved giving her a more elegant aft end, while the use of wrap around glass and loose exterior furniture mean deck spaces have generous seating, but remain airy, light and well detailed,” explains Laupman.

Step Aboard.

A sophisticated interior by acclaimed Italian designer Cristiano Gatto welcomes twelve guests in five staterooms.

The master suite, on the main deck forward, is bright and airy. The spacious remaining suites are found down on the lower deck. Sophia also offers plenty of outdoor areas for her owners, family, and friends to enjoy life at sea. The beach club will bring them close to the on-water action, while the generous sun pad area on the main deck terrace is perfect for post-swim relaxation. Al-fresco dining can take place either on the bridge deck aft terrace or up on the spacious sundeck.

We’re thrilled to announce ROCKET is back on the sales market with Burgess. This 49.8m (163.3ft) Heesen is asking EUR 28,000,000.

Delivered in 2011 by Heesen, ROCKET is a true Dutch pedigree yacht. Fully customised, she belongs to the sought-after Heesen 5000 series, boasting exterior design by Omega Architects and interiors by Star Design. ROCKET has always been maintained to the highest standard, with an extensive refit in 2021 and further upgrades most recently in 2024. She comes to the market in pristine condition.

Exterior spaces

Large exterior decks are a highlight, the most prominent being the split level sun deck with a large jacuzzi forward flanked by sun pads and surrounded by glass screens. Aft, under skylights, is a genuine sky lounge with walk-up bar, picture windows and large sliding glass making it a wonderful spot for dining under the sun or the stars in any weather.

Completing the external deck spaces, the bridge deck is home ot a large entertaining space which can work as an al fresco dining space or a casual lounge with more seating aft.

Interior spaces

ROCKET also features large communal guest areas including her main deck lounge with wrap around sofa seating forward with an indoor formal dining area aft. On the bridge deck, there is a circular lounge with spectacular 270-degree views and a large TV with surround sound for movie nights.

Accommodation

ROCKET offers sumptuous accommodation for 12 guests in six well-appointed cabins. Forward on the main deck is the full-beam master suite with an en suite bathroom. On the lower deck, there are three double cabins with two twin cabins including a oversized VIP cabin aft.

ROCKET is powered by twin MTU 16V 4000M90 engines which give a cruising speed of 17 knots and an impressive maximum speed of 23 knots. Zero speed stabilisers offer comfort both at anchor and underway, while her shallow draught offers limitless cruising capabilities and lends itself perfectly for island hopping.

Heesen announces update on revolutionary hybrid 50m Project Orion

Dutch shipyard Heesen has announced the progress of YN 20750, also known as Project Orion, as it moves forward on schedule. This magnificent yacht is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2025, and promises to redefine luxury yachting with its innovative features and unparalleled design.

While NASA's Orion spacecraft ventures into deep space, Heesen's 50m (163ft) superyacht Project Orion is designed to traverse the seven seas in utmost luxury and silence, reaching speeds of up to 10 knots with a combination of revolutionary hybrid propulsion and the industry-renowned Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). This groundbreaking combination was first introduced in 2008 with luxury yacht charter HOME , which received international acclaim for its innovative technology and avant-garde design.

Project Orion, designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects with interior design by Cristiano Gatto, exudes a strong character with its striking exterior lines and contemporary interior. The luxury yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in a six-cabin layout, including an exquisite owners' suite on the main deck. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow the owners to immerse themselves in the beauty of the surrounding nature while onboard. The lower deck features the additional five guest cabins, offering a winning configuration for both private use and luxury yacht charters .

Incorporating feedback from previous projects and market research, Project Orion introduces two major layout innovations. By moving the engine room forward, a generous wellness area of approximately 26 sqm is created, providing direct access to a spacious swim platform. Equipped with a sauna, gymnasium, and day head, this area serves as a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. With a shallow draft of just 2.15m, Project Orion can navigate shallow waters, offering the experience of exploring island archipelagos like the Bahamas  up close, something typically associated with smaller yachts due to accessibility issues. 

The sundeck layout onboard the motor yacht has also been reimagined, enhancing privacy for guests when docked stern-to in a marina. The whirlpool is now located forward, surrounded by ample sun pads. The sundeck's versatility is further emphasized by the ability to transform the space into a perfect party area. An expansive wet bar, dining table, and various relaxation zones create an ideal entertainment space spanning 77 sqm.

Beyond its stunning design, Project Orion boasts remarkable fuel efficiency. The 50m FDHF series by Heesen is known for its ultra-quiet operation and fuel-saving capabilities. Consuming only 98 liters per hour at 12 knots and a mere 45 liters per hour at 10 knots in hybrid mode, Project Orion sets new standards for fuel efficiency in a yacht of its size. Powered by two compact MTU 12V 2000 M61 (IMO III) engines, meticulous weight control and a lightweight build contribute to the exceptional performance that Heesen is renowned for.

At Heesen, we do not sit on our laurels. We like to embrace the future by crafting it. This is how the new 50-metre series came to be. The sales and marketing department and our engineers put their brains together to conceive the brief for a yacht that will stand the test of time. Harrison Eidsgaard put their pencils to paper inspired by our team’s vision. Heesen's new 50m Steel is a jewel box filled with the latest and coolest design and technological innovations. At 50 metres and 499 GT, this new series will feature a Fast Displacement steel hull of great seaworthiness for optimal comfort in all sea conditions. Like all Heesen yachts, the new design will also be available with Heesen's hybrid technology for intelligent power management and a silent cruise capability. British studio Harrison Eidsgaard penned a profile with sharp, modern lines paired with low bulwarks that open the view and tie the environment into the yacht's design. The layout emphasises the connection of the outdoors to the interior, providing plenty of natural light and fresh air from sliding windows in the main saloon on the main deck. Full-height windows and the absence of fashion plates maximise the light flooding the interiors. The design also features separate crew routing for discreet and efficient service, while with tenders and toys conveniently stored on the main deck forward, guests can enjoy the split-level aft deck terrace, overlooking an infinity pool and a large, fixed swimming platform. Six staterooms will accommodate twelve guests.

"The design of Heesen's 50-metre steel exudes confidence," comments Peder Eidsgaard. "In keeping with the company DNA, it translates the fast and sporty look of the aluminium yachts into a dynamic, agile form. The profile is not radical or extravagant but refined and timeless. This is a yacht conceived to stand the test of time." "The keys to a successful layout in a 499GT yacht are simplicity and versatility. We want to achieve the maximum possible lifestyle space for the guests while ensuring that the crew have the perfect working space to deliver a top-notch experience. Features such as the infinity pool or the unique coffee table on the sundeck, which doubles as an atrium skylight, will be focal points that invite guests to gather together. The sundeck will be large enough to hold up to 20 guests for outdoor dining. Hospitality is a central element in yachting, and we wanted to ensure that visiting day guests can be properly entertained too."

Step aboard

Similarly to our more voluminous superyachts, the service onboard Heesen's new 50-metre steel will be seamless thanks to a carefully thought routing for the crew to assist the owners and their guests discretely. Twelve guests are accommodated in six spacious staterooms, with the master suite located on the main deck forward. Social areas are at the heart of this design and will deliver the best entertainment possible.
