FOCUS is a 153-foot (46.6m) North American Yachts originally built as Genesis. Designed by Luiz De Basto, she was built in aluminum by North American Yachts and Shipbuilders and delivered in 2002 to a disabled client and has wheelchair access throughout. An interior by Ralph Lauren Home uses African makore mahogany and Tuscan marble throughout the yacht.

FOCUS has a unique, partially enclosed sundeck, her forward sun deck is fully enclosed and is flanked by windows that provide 270-degree views. The aft, exterior sun deck features a Jacuzzi and plentiful sunning space.

Built with an aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512B) 12-cylinder 2,250hp engines running at 1925rpm, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 21,496 gallon fuel tanks at 13 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 2,977 gallons of fresh water. She was built to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) ✠A1, Yachting Service, AMS classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

In America, the yachting industry might not be as established. Yet, today, America’s best luxury yacht builders continue to put out award-winning and state-of-the-art designs. Who are America’s best yacht builders?

From Christensen to Trinity, we countdown the best yacht builders in America and highlight what makes each shipyard unique. Here are our favorites:

1. Christensen

Christensen is one of the most established yacht builders in the U.S., and the company is known for its completely custom yachts. Each yacht the company produces is designed according to owner specifications.

Known for its classic hull design, and upscale finishes, Christensen produces some of the most luxurious superyachts in the U.S. That’s thanks in part to the builder’s in-house design team. Many other builders outsource design. Plus, the builder is known for its exquisite interiors, featuring spacious layouts and the finest finishes. Christensen also regularly wins innovation awards for their efficient and powerful displacement systems and state-of-the-art stabilization.

2. Westport

Since 1964, Westport has been a leader in yacht design and manufacturing in the U.S. And its earned a reputation for developing sporty, classically-styled superyachts.

That wasn’t always the case. Originally, Westport designed and built commercial fishing vessels, but today, Westport focuses exclusively on luxury motor yachts, including 34-, 38-, 40- and 50-meter yachts. Westport’s raised pilothouse and tri-deck yachts feature classic nautical hulls with modern touches. The interiors are sleek and comfortable and known for their spacious outdoor deck areas.

3. Derecktor

Derecktor is one of the country’s oldest yacht builders. It was founded on Long Island, NY in 1947, and during its early years, the company produced commercial fishing and passenger vessels. (Even today, Derecktor manufacturers high-speed ferries for cities around the world.)

Derecktor’s output has changed quite a bit in its 70-year history. Today, the company continues to build commercial vessels, but it’s also a top builder of custom motor yachts. Derecktor produces both explorer yachts and motor yachts, and many of its luxury motor yachts feature explorer-inspired designs. Many Derecktor yachts, for example, feature towering superstructures positioned forward. This opens up an abundance of aft-deck space for outdoor dining areas, beach clubs, and even helipads.

In addition to style, Derecktor yachts are renowned for their performance. They might be sizable. But they’re fast, and the ride is stable.

4. Hatteras

Hatteras is a legendary name in American shipbuilding, known for its high-speed and beautiful motor yachts. Initially, the shipyard focused entirely on sportfish yachts – something they’re still known for today. Yet, the company’s line-up of motor yachts offers the best of the best in luxury yachting.

Hatteras offers a full range of superyachts, including the 100 RPH, a stunning 102-foot raised pilothouse motoryacht, and the M90. Hatteras certainly shows its sporty roots in all of its designs; Hatteras exteriors are sleek and streamlined, sharing design details with its sportfish line.

At Trinity , size is the name of the game. The Gulfport-based shipyard produces yachts up to 123 meters (400 feet), including some of the largest luxury yachts ever built in the U.S.

The yachtbuilder has many signatures. For example, classic nautical architecture is one. Trinity produces some of the most inspiring superstructure designs that feature sleek lines and an abundance of glass. When you charter a Trinity yacht, you’ll have plenty of places to relax, as most of their designs incorporate an abundance of deck space. In the past, that’s include beautiful sky lounges and sprawling aft-deck dining/bar areas.

Below deck, Trinity yachts delivers spacious layouts. The yachtbuilder is know for their opulent owner’s suites and staterooms, as well as stunning salons.

6. Broward Marine

Founded by legendary boatbuilder Frank Denison in the 1950s, Broward Marine has been a leader in superyacht design throughout its history. For example, in 1954, Broward launched its first luxury superyacht, ALISA V. At the time, the 96-footer was a behemoth – similar in grandness to today’s megayachts of 150+ feet.

The Alisa paved a path for the company, which shifted its focus exclusively to luxury motoryachts. In the 1980s, for example, Broward was quick to respond to the trend of the superyachts; Broward sold some 80 yachts in the 1980s, an impressive sales feat.

Under new management in the early 2000s, the company continued its focus on stunning megayachts in the 100- to 160-foot range. Broward yachts are grand in scale, with stunning tri-deck and raised pilothouse designs, and they’re also some of the first to feature farmhouse kitchens. Today, the company focuses primarily on refits, but many of their majestic yachts are still available for charter.

7. Hargrave

Hargrave has been producing yachts since the 1950s, and throughout its history, the shipyard has built a reputation for inspiring yacht designs. In fact, the company initially only focused on design. Founder Jack Hargrave, the famed nautical designer, worked closely with other top U.S. yacht builders including Burger and Hatteras, helping to launch numerous brands.

In 1997, the company transitioned from design to designing and building its own luxury yachts. The company quickly made a name for itself. Hargrave has won numerous awards for its sporty tri-decks and sportfish-inspired motoryachts. Hargrave yachts feature contemporary interiors, matched with sleek profiles.

A Horizon yacht has a distinctive look. The company’s yachts have stately exteriors with tons of classic nautical architectural details. Inside, too, Horizon yachts have a lot of character. Most Horizon yachts feature sprawling windows, creating light and airy interior spaces.

Today, the company produces yachts in the 56- to 150-foot range, and their offerings include power catamarans, tri-decks and raised pilothouse motor yachts.

If you’re looking for a power cat, that’s a Horizon specialty. The company’s PC Series features a range of mid-sized power cats up to about 80 feet, with numerous concept yachts in the works. Yet, Horizon does it all. You’ll find Horizon yachts in just about any style, from Fast Displacement yachts (FD Series), to customized tri-decks (CC Series).

The Burger Boat Company is one of the most historic shipbuilders in the U.S. Originally launched in 1863, the company has built more than 500 yachts in its history (more than 250 of which are still in operation). The company was a pioneer in steel yacht building, but today, Burger primary builds aluminum yachts.

Burger produces a range of custom tri-deck motor yachts, ranging from 112- to 214-foot motor yachts. Burger boats have a distinctive look and feel. They have spacious deck areas, like the wrap-around deck on its current 214-foot tri-deck concept, as well as innovative exterior lounge areas.

10. Delta Marine

For more than 50 years, Delta Marine has been producing world-class motor yachts from its headquarters in Seattle. The boatbuilder is known for its sleek exterior designs. Delta Marine yachts feature clean, flowing lines throughout, and the company produces a range of raised pilothouse and tri-deck motor yachts.

Plus, the interiors are completely custom. As such, no two Delta Marine yachts look the same, and the interiors are as unique as their owners. Delta yachts are also well-known for their performance. Many feature performance-minded hulls, and feature state-of-the-art displacement systems.

New on the X70 is the addition of a staircase leading from the bridge to the bow, as well as an addition staircase leading to the aft cockpit. This was my 12th purchase through a yacht broker. I have never experienced a total lack of professionalism in this industry. You would have better representation buying off Craigslist. At least some people are honest. Stay Clear.

I joined Little Ships Yacht Club a couple years back and became a part of the bay. I began scooping plastic out of the water and as I made my way from dock to dock I noticed that when I saw a boat for sale it more times than not had Tim or Jim's names hanging on the boats. When people would ask where I was from I'd tell them Little Ships Yacht Club and they would say, Oh! You must know Tim! I didn't know Tim but noticed many people coming and going from the office. Some of those folks were taken in by their dogs and funny enough that is just how I ended up meeting Tim. My dog took me in there and I was greeted with the warmest smile. My dog was greeted with a dog treat. If you ever wonder about a person, a dog can tell you if they are good or not...they just somehow know. Anyway, these folks make you feel you are welcome any time and I imagine that must be the reason so many people come to them for help to buy or sell their boats. They've earned the trust and respect over the years from so many people. I guess, I'm really just writing to thank them for making the Marina a great place to be. Had had purchased a fishing boat from a salesman by the name of Samuel Betko who works for Seacoast yacht sales who is not a trustworthy person. After the port failed 2 times on a sea trail,Samuel assured me that he and his mechanic had taken care of it , it ran one time. After several calls and assurances that he promised to take care it. After several more attempts he and his mechanic ghosted me. The new mechanic thinks he figured it out. I also explained the the throttle and shifters didn't work properly, again the told me he would take care of it ( nope). They had two different professionals skippers on the sea trails. The company had manufactures of the shift/throttle sent a rep. A said to start with all the cables where installed backwards port engine cables are installed to the starboard's control and starboard's engine to to port controls . After another $2500 I'm working on getting the boat running, 5 months and I still haven't taken the boat out fishing. So do not trust anything they tell you. They are a not to be trusted. FIND ANOTHER BROKER.

**CAUTION**Avoid Seacoast Yachts at all costs. On 7/26/2022 , I found a boat on the Seacoast Website that I wanted to purchase , I immediately called and spoke with Errol Mihalik. Errol told me that the boat was available, so I immediately hired a mechanic ($300.00) to inspect the boat. The mechanic met Errol the same day at his office in L.A. Harbor. When they went to inspect the boat, it was gone! It had been sold privately by the owner. Errol called me and apologized for the error on his part, and promised to refund my $300.00. After a week I had still not received the reimbursement. I sent Errol an email and he told me that he was NOT refunding my costs. Errol went back on his word. I would NEVER work with someone who goes back on their word. Errol's mistake and lack of due diligence cost me $ 300.00.

Tim Hagen boat salesman was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. Great selection. Highly recommend this business.

I recently purchased a sailboat from Seacoast - Heritage Yacht Sales. The broker that assisted me was Capt. Tim Hagan. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was patient, polite and very knowledgeable. This was the first vessel that I have purchased that was Federally Documented and I know that the process would have quickly become very complicated without his expertise. If you are considering purchasing a boat, I would strongly recommend that you talk with Capt. Tim.

“ Alien: Romulus ,” the latest installment in the 45-year-old franchise, opened in first place at the North American box office.

The 20th Century Studios release earned an estimated $41.5 million in its first weekend, where it was playing in 3,885 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Including $66.7 million from international showings in 49 markets, “Alien: Romulus” boasted a $108.2 million global debut.

The Walt Disney Co., which owns 20th Century Studios, claimed the top two spots on the charts, with Marvel’s “ Deadpool & Wolverine ” now in its fourth weekend, taking second place with $29 million. The company has been responsible for an estimated 42% of the industry’s summer box office haul, including hits “Inside Out 2” and “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.”

August can often be slow for the movie business, or, less charitably, a dumping ground. But while 2024 has lagged overall for the movie business, a string of recent hits including “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “ It Ends With Us ” helped build a momentum that put this late August weekend over 30% ahead of the same weekend last year. It’s also up over 10% from August 2019.

“The summer started off pretty gloomy, but it’s winding up really strong,” said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore. “We thought we were going to coast through August, but now we’re powering through August towards a much better overall summer number than we expected for the box office.”

Fede Álvarez directed “Alien: Romulus, ” set around the time of “Alien” and “Aliens,” and recruited a cast of up-and-coming 20-somethings to lead the cast including Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson and Isabela Merced. The sci-fi film leans into Álvarez’s propensity for all things horror, as he is known for “Evil Dead” and “Don’t Breathe,” and embraces the franchise’s horror roots.

Reviews have been a little mixed, but mostly positive, with an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences gave it a B+ CinemaScore.

The romantic drama “ It Ends With Us ” landed in third place with $24 million, down just 52% from its triumphant opening.

The Sony movie starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who also directed, has made $97.8 million to date. It cost only $25 million to produce.

The film was adapted from the bestselling Colleen Hoover novel of the same name that follows Lively as Lily Bloom, a woman at a crossroads when a past love upends her current relationship with Baldoni’s Ryle Kincaid.

Rumors of behind-the-scenes drama on the film also continues to dominate social media discourse and tabloid headlines — but “Don’t Worry Darling” also taught us that gossip and chatter don’t always translate to box office returns.

“Twisters” placed fourth in its fifth weekend with $9.8 million from 3,483 theaters. The Universal release has made over $238.4 million domestically.

Rounding out the top five was a re-release: “Coraline,” which Fathom Events put on over 1,500 screens for its 15th anniversary where it made $11.3 million in four days and $8.6 million from Friday through Sunday.

The stop-motion animated film was an adaptation of a Neil Gaiman novella, written and directed by Henry Selick and marked the first-ever release for Laika. It’ll be in theaters until Aug. 22.

“Borderlands,” the video game adaptation starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis, brought in $2.4 million in its second weekend bringing its total box office earnings to $13.5 million compared to its reported $120 million budget.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Mike Burns , president of North South Nautical Group is pleased to announce the appointment of NSNG as the exclusive yacht broker for  MacDonald Turkey Point Marina.

Canada’s largest freshwater marina, MacDonald Turkey Point Marina serves cross-border boaters with 750 seasonal boat slips and 20 boathouses located on 80 acres on the shores of Lake Erie.

A full-service marina, the operation includes a marine maintenance facility, detailing department, used boat sales, boat parts and accessories sales and a seasonal mobile home trailer park with 79 sites.
