As the day begins, make your way to breakfast on the main deck aft where there is a range of dining tables that offer a more intimate mood to large group mealtimes. The deck crew are ready to take you on a diving and snorkelling expedition to a nearby coral reef that is teeming with sea life; SALUZI’s shallow draft means she can even venture among coral reefs and closer to the shore than most yachts of her size. With your workout in the gym complete, an afternoon of pampering in the salon and wet spa is calling, while the children are occupied by fun party games in the upper deck lounge before an early dinner and open air movie night on the sun deck.

SALUZI’s stunning Luiz de Basto design is reminiscent of a hip Miami hotel; it is bold, bright and uplifting, with eye-catching pops of colour and original modern art. There are two plush master suites on the bridge deck, six VIP suites on upper and one on main deck alongside seven well appointed double cabins.

As the sun sets on the beautiful tropical scenery, elegant cocktails and canapes are served on the bridge deck, where you drift between the piano bar lounge and the expansive views of the exterior, with sumptuous sofas and high tables creating the mood of a chic city rooftop bar. A truly distinguishable yacht, SALUZI is recognizable by her hull artwork by the artist Li Jiwei . “ Saluzi ” was the war horse of Li Shimin , Emperor Taizong of Tang when he was fighting with Wang Shicong in Mangshan Mountain, Luoyang. Li Shimin was separated from his soldiers amidst fierce fighting, and suddenly Saluzi was shot by an arrow. Despite his wound, Saluzi brought the emperor to safety and hence became a legend in China.  

Built by the Australian shipyard Austal in 2003 as a small luxury cruise ship for Polynesia service, SALUZI was transformed into a megayacht . Boasting a brand-new interior by Luiz de Basto , she now has large public spaces and extensive deck areas. SALUZI accommodates up to 32 guests in two master suites, seven VIP staterooms and seven twin cabins. All staterooms have full entertainment systems and en suite facilities. An extensive range of water toys includes 2x Castoldi tenders, 2x SeaBob underwater scooters, 2x Yamaha jet skis and Golf driving range with ECO golf balls. Further entertainment includes a karaoke system and outdoor cinema.  

Saluzi is the largest superyacht based in Asia during the winter and available for charter all year round. She offers accommodation for 32 guests across her 16 spacious cabins. On the bridge deck, you’ll find two master suites with their own private saloon, and on the upper deck, six VIP suites, a large saloon, gym and beauty salon.

Saluzi’s 469 square metre main deck accommodates another VIP suite and seven further deluxe cabins, as well as the dining room, karaoke lounge and office. Her vast and versatile deck spaces cater for entertaining on the grandest of scales and her modern, beach club décor, allows for social flexibility with friends, family and guests. Saluzi is also a great vessel for corporate entertaining or event attendance. When in port, up to 150 guests can be catered for with ease.

In the evenings, the dining room not only serves as a formal dining space but can also be converted into a professional karaoke lounge. If you prefer to watch the entertainment rather than create it, retire to the top deck for a movie under the stars. Spend your time lounging around the two Jacuzzi pools on the sundeck, indulge in the spa after a session in the gym or make use of the many water toys and diving from the expansive beach club area.

With a crew of 32 to take care of you, any request is met with positive efficiency. Within the compliment of crew are three on-board Chefs providing the finest culinary experiences. Saluzi also boasts two full time SPA therapists, and the possibility of three extra crew members tailored to clients requirements.

Saluzi’s advanced stabilisation system reduces roll motion effect and ensures ultimate comfort can be enjoyed throughout one’s charter vacation. Cruising at a speed of 12 knots, and able to achieve a maximum 16 knots, her range of 1,500 nautical miles, needn’t limit your spirit for adventure.

The main deck spreads over 490 sqm and is home to the gallery, and IT room, an office, a hospital as well as further guest accommodation, including five twin cabins, two double cabins and one VIP cabin.

The expansive sun deck of 280 square metres features two Jacuzzis, a bar and an outdoor cinema. The bridge deck of 339 square metres has a comfortable saloon for socialising and is also home to two master staterooms.

Six VIP guest cabins are situated on the vast, 494 sqm upper deck. Here we have another lovely saloon for social gatherings, as well as a Wet & Dry spa and a gymnasium for guests’ wellbeing and comfort.

The engine room, the garage and the crew quarters are located on the lower deck, to provide all guest aboard motor yacht SALUZI with privacy. Outstanding and professional service aboard this spectacular vessel is ensured by an experienced and numerous crew of 32 members.

Twin MTU 16V 2000 M60 diesels can propel the 69-metre luxury yacht Saluzi (ex Tia Moana) to the comfortable cruising speed of 16 knots. Bureau Veritais classed, she has a beam of 13,80m (45'28'') and a maximum draft of 2,20m (7'22').

Origins of the name SALUZI:

According to a Chinese legend, Saluzi was a warhorse of Li Shimin, the Emperor of Tang, while fighting against Wang Shicong in Mangshan Mountain, in Luoyang. In the middle of the ferocious fighting, Li Shimin was separated from his soldiers, and SALUZI was shot by an arrow. About the Hull Artwork:

The artwork featured on the hull of luxury superyacht Saluzi was created by the well known Chinese artist, Li Jiwei. He is a graduate of traditional Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, obtained a Master’s degree in abstract painting under the tutorage of Professor Pachensky at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna as well as graduated in Multi-Media at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin.

‘Saluzi’ is a 226.38ft  /69-meter  motor yacht, built in 2003 by Austal and refitted in 2014. The sophisticated, lavish design and engineering are the work of Austal, and her luxurious interior is designed by Tillberg Design AB.

Saluzi is built with an aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, and has a cruising speed of 11 knots, a maximum speed of 14 knots and a range of 1,500nm from 38,000litre fuel tanks. Overall she combines luxury and performance.

She comes complete with a modern stabilization system to reduce roll motion even during rough seas, and the yacht also has ‘at anchor stabilizers’ to keep things smooth even at anchor/zero speed.

Two mariners were rescued after a yacht caught on fire in Clearwater Saturday morning.

A U.S. Coast Guard Station Sand Key boat crew assisted in extinguishing a 50-foot yacht fire in Clearwater Harbor.

A good Samaritan reported the fire via a VHF radio channel and transferred two mariners to the Clearwater Harbor Marina for medical assistance.

Details on what prompted the fire were not released.

The bourgeois charm of Siberia's oil capital

If you’re driving west across Russia from the Pacific Ocean, the first thing that you notice upon entering the city of Tyumen is the McDonalds. Tyumen has long been one of the only Siberian cities with a McDonalds restaurant. Although the fast-food giant has plans to open locations in nearby Novosibirsk and other regional cities, Siberia still contains one of the longest distances on earth outside of Africa where you can remain on a major highway and not see a McDonalds. Until you reach Tyumen, that is.

A stop in Tyumen provides an interesting glimpse into how modern Russia’s oil revenue has influenced Siberia’s oldest Russian city. Tyumen is a great stopover point on the Trans-Siberian Railroad and a short ride from Yekaterinburg (five hours) or Tobolsk (four hours).

In the 16th century, Russia started expanding eastward into parts of Central Asia ruled by the Tatars, an Islamic people who still live thoughout Russia. A band of Cossacks wrested control of Tyumen from the Tatars in 1580. Six years later, Russians established a fort in Tyumen on the Tura River.

For centuries, Tyumen vied with the nearby city of Tobolsk—once the official capital of Siberia—for the prestige of the region’s most important city. Tyumen won in the end, when the Trans-Siberian Railroad bypassed Tobolsk and was routed through this now oil-rich city.

Tyumen played an important role in Russian history during times of war. At the beginning of the Russian Civil War, the Bolshevik Red Army slowly pushed the White Army, commanded by Admiral Alexander Kolchak, into Siberia. Kolchak and his anti-Bolshevik forces holed up in Tyumen until the Red Army overtook them in January of 1918.

During the Second World War, many Russian industries were moved away from the front to Siberian cities. Tyumen had already become an industrial capital during the early Soviet era, and the city became an ideal spot to relocate Russia’s western factories. As Nazi forces approached Russia in 1941, the embalmed body of Vladimir Lenin was sent from the Lenin Mausoleum in Moscow’s Red Square by train to the Tyumen State Agricultural Academy for safekeeping. In 1945, Lenin’s body was shipped back to Moscow.

Some of the factories relocated to Tyumen during wartime remained in the city. The discovery of oil in the region catapulted Siberia’s oldest Russian settlement to further prosperity. Modern Tyumen is a vibrant city with a number of universities and a revamped center well-suited for exploration by foot.

Start your walking tour around central Tyumen on Ulitsa Respubliki. The city’s main drag has fine pedestrian walkways and leads wanderers past an impressive collection of tsarist-era buildings that recall Tyumen’s importance in the beginning of Russia’s colonization of Siberia.

From the southeastern end of Ul. Respubliki, head north toward the Tura River and take a brief side trip onto Ul. Ordzhonikidze to visit the Fine Arts Museum (47 Ul. Ordzhonikidze) which houses exhibits of classical Russian and Soviet art as well as traditional bone carving and works produced by the native people who live in the far north of Tyumen Oblast.

Back on Ul. Respubliki, you’ll soon see the city’s requisite Lenin statue by the local government buildings. A block away, opposite Lenin, is Tyumen’s city park, a delightful place to walk or hop on one of its amusement rides.

Most Siberian cities developed under the watchful eyes of the atheist Soviet regime and churches are usually not Siberia’s strongpoint. But this isn’t true in four-centuries-old Tyumen. Strolling up Ul. Respubliki, you’ll soon come to the Church of the Saviour (41 Ul. Lenina) and the Znamensky Cathedral (13 Ul. Semakova). Each of these stunning Baroque-influenced churches are located right off Ul. Respubliki and were built in the late 18th century.

Tyumen is also famous for its historic wooden houses. Heading further up Ul. Respubliki, stop to wander around some of the side streets and snap photos of these ornate wooden structures which provide a glimpse back in time. Near the Tura River, you’ll pass a civil war monument in remembrance of the Tyumen natives who died fighting the White Army and the Tyumen State Agricultural Academy (7 Ul. Respubliki) an impressive building in its own right where Lenin was stored during the Second World War.

Near the end of Ul. Respubliki, take a walk over the Tura River on the Lover’s Bridge, a suspension bridge open to foot traffic only that has become one of Tyumen’s iconic sights. The other side of the river is a great place to see more of Tyumen’s signature wooden houses as well as take in the churches scattered around the city center.

Save the best for last and visit the Trinity Monastery (10 Ul. Kommunisticheskaya) at the end of Ul. Respubliki. A white wall surrounds the monastery, giving it the appearance of a mini-kremlin, and the golden onion domes of the 18th century churches within should not be missed.

Although navigating Tyumen is straightforward enough, the St. Petersburg-based travel company OSTWEST can arrange a city tour in Tyumen and the surrounding countryside.
