Es Nautic, the yacht club in San Antonio Ibiza.

One of the best yacht clubs in Ibiza is Es Nàutic, located at the heart of San Antonio, a town west of Ibiza Island, surrounded by a beautiful bay.

Friendly harbour

Es Nàutic, the yacht club in San Antonio, has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. They offer a wide range of moorings at reasonable prices. This makes the port home to a wide variety of ships. At the docks you can find small boat rental companies welcoming their guests, boat owners drinking their coffee and exchanging gossip, and children going to and from the sailing school. This port has preserved its friendly and casual ambiance.

They found a way to combine commercial interest without neglecting services to smaller vessels and companies. Not all docks have found this kind of balance. The marinas at the port of Ibiza town have made the decision to go after the big bucks. The harbour’s policy has changed favouring the super yachts and big ships by treating them as priority clients. The consequences are that small vessels (less than 15m long) are often put on never-ending waiting lists. During peak season, there are not enough docking points for these smaller vessels to dock. Sleeping outside of a port can be great if the weather conditions are good, but even then the captain needs to be alert, as the weather can change fast at sea. We are glad that Es Nàutic doesn’t only go after big fish. The local staff at the harbour is very helpful and they encourage people to discover more about sailing. This creates a neighbourly atmosphere that we love.

Installations and  facilities

Since Es Nàutic as founded in  1973, they have constantly improved their facilities. Their goal was to provide an infrastructure that would support the sailing community. The last renovation took place just when the financial crisis hit Spain. Finding funds and support to renovate the facilities was a challenge but the result is a modern port with great facilities. At the entrance of the harbour, we find parking spaces that clients can use. It’s also possible to enter the port. This makes loading and unloading your car and boat easy. There is also an underground car park that can be used by clients at Plaza España, 5 minutes from the main gate, which provides more space to keep the entrance of the harbour free.

Near the entrance you will find a new restaurant. It was opened in 2013. The building is quite special as it rises from the water and it is suspended above the sea. This gives you the sensation that you are still on the water. They serve good food, but most captains like me miss the old bar. We can be a bit sentimental about this. Luckily we have another bar on the other side of the entrance to the dock, which is loved by most skippers for its good coffee and nice bartenders, commonly known as “El Chiringuito”.

When you enter the piers, you will find the sports installations to your left. Here they organise regattas, sailing courses for children and other sports activities like canoeing and stand up paddle surfing. There is a team of professional instructors that help students develop new skills in a safe and fun way. You can find up-to-date information about their lessons and the regattas they organise on their website.

Next to the office, we find the public toilets. They are clean, spacious, and equipped with hairdryers and music so you can start your day fresh and happy. There is also a laundry service that runs regularly, so you can shine on the docks.

Behind pontoon C, you will find the gas station that is open throughout the entire day from dawn to dusk. Boats that need to fill up their fuel tanks can easily dock next to the petrol or diesel pumps. From 2015 onwards, the yacht club in San Antonio  has offered buoys for rent, just off the main piers, so vessels can spend the night tied to these buoys, which are not free, but much cheaper than regular docking points at port. There is a special complimentary dinghy service that brings visitors and crew to their boats and vice versa.

Channel nine is probably the most valued attribute of this marina in San Antonio. If you call for assistance from the harbour, you always get a quick response. Even during the night or at the peak of the season.

The registration process is well-organised, and experienced staff manages the harbour smoothly. This results in fast and high-quality service. Docking availability is checked within moments. They also provide rapid, fitting solutions to technical or practical problems.

The land crew is well known for their friendly attitude and pro-active mindset. It is quite common that a crew member will offer to help you find a place to dock before you call them on channel nine. They are sometimes advised by the watchtower before you even give notice! They are very cooperative. It’s also possible to make an online booking to secure a spot at the port.

Close to the best beaches in Ibiza

One of the best things about its location is the short distance to some of the best beaches in Ibiza, such as gorgeous Cala Bassa Beach , Cala Conta Beach, Cala Salada, or even to the amazing Es Vedrà Islands .

Security is very important and all the installations are well-maintained, so this helps quite a lot. The port is highly secure due to surveillance cameras, and extra staff who are on duty during the night to make sure everyone gets a good night’s sleep.

We love the facilities, good service, and nice atmosphere of Es Nàutic. If only the WI-FI worked properly every day, I would never set foot on land again!

Two handicaps of the yacht club in San Antonio

Although the list of plusses is infinitely longer, the port also has two inconvenient aspects that we have to accept.

  • First of all, the marina is far from the most requested tourist destinations. Most people want to go to Salinas or Formentera. The attraction towards Formentera Island is understandable as it is listed as one of those places you must visit. It lies 25 miles from our dock. This means that if you rent a sailing boat for only a day, you won’t have much time to enjoy swimming since the distance makes it difficult to sail to Formentera and back just in one day. Personally, I also prefer to stay out of this so called “hot spot” since this area is extremely crowded during the summer. It has the highest concentration of yachts in the Mediterranean. On the contrary, sailing conditions in the bay of San Antonio are ideal, with favourable thermal winds, uncongested seas, so we can set sail for calm crystal blue water around the bay in San Antonio.
  • The second problem is an aesthetic one as San Antonio is not one of the prettiest towns on Ibiza. Previous decades of cheap mass-promoted tourism have left their mark on San Antonio. In recent years, local authorities have tried to stop this trend. There has been significant improvement with clubs like Café del Mar, Mambo Café, Ocean Beach Club that have a more laid back atmosphere. Despite the improvements, you can still run into shirtless and intoxicated tourists stumbling around.

Fortunately, Es Nautic is a safe harbour against the summer madness. When I cross the checkpoint of the main entrance of the port, I feel at home. I can already lower my guard since I won’t have to dodge more tourists that seem to have walked off the set of Night of Living Dead. Luckily, Ibiza is much more than a party island.

The Discoveries Of

San Antonio, Ibiza Travel Guide: Beach Vibes and Nightlife on the White Island

Explore the best things to do in San Antonio, Ibiza. Sunsets, beach clubs, restaurants and nightlife await.

Let’s be honest: who isn’t seeking an escape? Thankfully, we have the sun-soaked shores of San Antonio (known by locals as Sant Antoni de Portmany) to getaway to.

What’s not to love about this lively resort town, packed with some of Ibiza ’s banging clubs, chic restaurants and sun-drenched beaches?

Top Tip: If you need help deciding where to stay in paradise, check out Grand Paradiso Ibiza – Adults Only . It’s one of many fab adults-only hotels in San Antonio, Ibiza.

Top 5 Things to Do in San Antoni de Portmany

Hit up the sunset strip for sundowners .

Ibiza San Antonio

Seeing the sun go down from one of the many bars in San Antonio’s sunset strip is a rite of passage for anyone visiting Ibiza.

As the name suggests, the strip presents an unobstructed view of the setting sun – there’s pretty much nothing better than watching the last rays of the day with a cocktail in hand.

Hit up classic hotspots like Cafe Mambo – which has been going strong with its special blend of DJ sets and pre-parties since 1994 – or Cafe del Mar, the OG sunset bar best-known for its chilled out music sets and relaxed vibe.

Other popular bars on the strip include Savannah Beach Club, Mint Lounge and Golden Buddha.

Top Tip: Arrive early if you want to nab a seat, especially during peak season.

Party at Es Paradis

San Antonio (like most of Ibiza) is well-known for its nightlife, and Es Paradis is no exception to that rule. This is where you’ll blur the lines between reality and raving fun.

While here, don’t miss their famous Fiesta del Agua (Water Party). It’s where you’ll witness acrobats soar through the air and have performers put on a show. This nightlife spot in Antonio, Ibiza, is an absolute must if you want to party it up during your trip.

Tuck into a Japanese Feast at Okasan Restaurant

Okasan San Antonio Ibiza

I hate to play favourites (who am I kidding, I kinda love it) but Okasan was one of the real highlights of my most recent Ibiza trip.

The food is straight-up delicious – think of it as a little slice of Japan brought straight to San Antonio. That translates to mounds of perfectly-prepared sushi, sizzling robata grill delicacies and *perfectly* seasoned veg.

Okasan San Antonio Ibiza-7

When you throw in beautiful views of the harbour (definitely grab a table on the covered terrace if you can) and some stellar Japanese-inspired cocktails, you know you’re onto a winner.

Top Tip: It does book up, so reserve your table well in advance.

Go Beach Hopping

Cala Bassa

What better way to experience the best beaches in San Antonio, Ibiza, than a beach-hopping cruise ?

This cruise takes you to the breathtaking Cala Tarida and the equally gorgeous Cala Bassa . You’ll also have some serious water action by swimming, snorkelling, and sunbathing in the Mediterranean sun.

Plus, you’ll enjoy complimentary drinks (hello, sweet sangria) and snacks like fresh fruit throughout your day.

Top Tip: There’s no hotel pick-up and drop-off, so I recommend meeting at San Antonio Harbour for this beach-hopping adventure.

Visit Cap Blanc Aquarium

yacht club san antonio ibiza

Cap Blanc Aquarium is not your average aquarium. You’ll get to watch a beautiful display of marine life on a trip to this unique, educational attraction. Colourful tropical fish and graceful rays glide through the water, showing off the best of the diverse species here.

Being in an underground cavern, a cool highlight of this trip is walking in its transparent underground tunnel and marvelling at the breathtaking underwater views surrounding you.

Brilliant Things to See & Do in San Antonio, Ibiza

Rave the night away at one of san antonio’s famous nightclubs .

I’ve already talked about the sunset strip, but don’t think that as the night falls San Antonio runs out of steam. Not at all. This is one of Ibiza’s prime clubbing hotspots, packed with iconic clubs (and iconic nights) that put the island on the international dance music scene.

Aside from Es Paradis, other top spots include superclub Eden, with its crazy parties and pumping sound system, Ibiza Rocks Hotel, where the poolside gigs are always popping, O Beach and Plastik.

Go Scuba Diving

Sant Antoni de Portmany

Ibiza might not be the first place you think of when you think of scuba diving, but there’s some pretty cool dive spots dotted around the island.

Located near Sant Antoni de Portmany’s Scuba Diving Pier in front of Palapa Bar is where you’ll begin this exhilarating yet easy scuba diving tour . Over 3.5 hours, you’ll learn diving theory, followed by an instructor and diving master showing you the ropes.

Once you’ve learnt the ropes you’ll descend 26 feet (8 metres) and navigate the coral reef and colourful and diverse marine life, including octopus and fish.

Hike in Punta Galera

Punta Galera

A 10-minute drive from San Antonio, you’ll find serenity in nature’s embrace. Punta Galera boasts scenic trails, perfect for clearing your mind while hiking.

With its rugged cliffs and clear waters, you can’t help but take up the challenge to lace up your hiking shoes and set off on any of its 14 picturesque trails. While hiking, remember to catch your breath and take in the sheer beauty of Punta Galera’s dramatic rock formations and secret coves.

Get Your Adrenaline Fix at Slingshot Ibiza

For an experience that’ll get your heart pumping, look no further than Slingshot Ibiza. This amusement park is near the renowned Es Paradis nightclub and has all the rides you’d need for a thrilling time.

Try to keep it together as you’re flung 236 feet (72 metres) high up into the air on the popular slingshot ride. If you’d like milder rides, try out their fun bumper cars.

Go Shopping in San Antonio

San Antonio

With an equally eclectic shopping scene, why not shop up a storm in San Antonio?

No shopping trip is complete without heading to Sunset Strip. The famous street has several beachwear stores and high-end boutiques brimming with the latest styles. This shopper’s paradise will have what you want, no matter what you’re looking for. Just remember to keep an eye on your account balance.

15 Best Things to Do in San Antonio (Ibiza)

Best things to do in San Antonio, Ibiza

Are you looking for things to see and do in San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany) , that don’t necessarily involve copious amounts of booze, banging clubs, and noisy bars?

As Europe’s premier party capital, many believe the whole of Ibiza Island is one of twelve-hour drinking sessions, noisy bars and clubs open throughout the night.

Although this analogy is still valid in some areas, things have changed significantly over the last 20 years.

San Antonio began life some two-thousand years ago as a rustic, sleepy little Spanish fishing village on the west coast of Ibiza. It remained that way, more or less, until the early 1960s, when the Spanish government began to realise there were some serious euros to be had from the hot Mediterranean sun.

As bars, clubs, and apartments mushroomed along the coast almost overnight, young 18-30 Brits, with a smattering of Germans and Italians, began to turn the island into the anything-goes party capital of Europe .

It was also a period when the island’s reputation began to suffer, with stories of drunken rowdiness, drug taking and fighting. As a result, tourist numbers began to drop off in favour of the other islands, where visitors could enjoy their sunshine holiday in quieter surroundings.

However, learning from their mistakes: since the early 1980s the authorities have worked hard to improve the situation. Although still the young party people’s favourite clubbing destination, Ibiza now concentrates on what it offers in other areas.

In this blog, for all who prefer a more varied holiday experience, I have compiled a list of the best things to do in San Antonio, from the best clubs to visit, to fabulous beaches, e-bike tours and exploring the coast by water.

Table of Contents

1. Stroll the beautiful San Antonio Promenade

Best things to do in San Antonio, Ibiza: San Antonio Promenade

Having dropped your bags in the apartment, a stroll along San Antonio’s picturesque promenade should be high on your list of things to do in San Antonio.

Running from the northern end of San Antonio Town, the promenade meanders three or four kilometres around the Bay of San Antonio towards the marina and main port.

Although one of San Antonio’s busiest areas both day and night, it is a great walk to release the stress and tension that builds up on a long flight.

Wide, and planted with palms and succulents, you will stroll past beaches offering a variety of water activities , including paragliding, banana boats, fly-boarding, jet skis and pretty much every other water sport you can think of.

The shoreside is lined with touristy shops, children’s playgrounds , fountains that light up at night, and bars, restaurants and fast-food joints to suit every need and palate.

It’s a great place to help you decide what you want to do on your holiday and somewhere you will walk along numerous times during your stay.

2. Walk towards the port and visit the Coves Blanques lighthouse

Initially constructed on an uninhabited area of the San Antonio coast, the Coves Blanques lighthouse was commissioned in 1897. As the town’s urban sprawl spread along the coast, the lighthouse became a part of suburban San Antonio, and today is easily reached from the footpath at the base of the harbour’s breakwater.

Plagued with problems over the years, the lighthouse was finally decommissioned in 1963 and remained empty and neglected for over 50 years.

Rescued by the local council in the early 2000s, the lighthouse was fully refurbished and in 2010 opened as a cultural centre and exhibition hall , holding various cultural activities and exhibitions of all kinds throughout the year.

3. Look for things to do in San Antonio from your favourite beach

San Antonio Beach

For those visitors to the beautiful Balearic Islands who want nothing more than somewhere to lay their towel and soak up the rays, the nearest beach to the apartment will normally do.

For others, their best beach experience involves more than just sand, sea and sun. Is it safe for children? How noisy is it? Does it have good facilities and is it easily accessible with buggies?

With a stay in San Antonio, you have a good selection of beaches , all within easy walking distance. At first sight, all appear very similar, but dig a little deeper and you will find that strip of golden sand that will hit your particular spot.

Take your pick from these local beaches, or be a little more adventurous with a trip further around the coast to explore some of the best beaches in Ibiza .

Es Pouet beach: Off the main promenade, Es Pouet has it all. Facilities are good, with shops, bars and cafes, sun beds, parasols and lifeguards.

Disabled access is good, with amphibious wheelchairs available. Off the small jetty, local ferries take visitors further afield. You can hire boats and kayaks or ride on the banana boat. The water is shallow and safe for kids.

Playa S’Estanyol: Off the promenade, a little further around the coast. S’Estanyol beach comprises two small sandy coves with the usual shops, bars and cafes, sun beds, shades and lifeguards.

Several water sports are available, including inflatables and pedalos. Coastal waters are shallow and child friendly.

Playa Pinet: A little further along the coast will bring you to Pinet Beach. With a tree line to the rear of the beach blocking out the harsh concrete apartments, you will find cafes and bars on the beach, where your toes can play in the sand while you sip your pina colada.

Bars, cafes, shops and a small supermarket are by the beach. Sunbeds, shades, pedalos, paddleboards, banana boats and water skis are available. Shallow waters and a lifeguard make it safe for the little ones.

Playa Xinxo (Cala de Bou:) The last in the local group. All the usual facilities apply, including good access for disabled visitors. A strip of clean golden sand and shallow waters for some distance out make it safe for the kids. A range of water activities, including pedalos, are available.

Other amazing beaches near San Antonio are Cala Gracioneta, Cala Comte, Cala Salada and Cala Bassa.

4. Pay a visit to the Aquarium Cap Blanc

Head towards the northern end of San Antonio along the coastal path, and you will come across the Aquarium Cap Blanc.

Built originally in a large natural cave as a lobster hatchery, it was converted into a public aquarium in 1989, specialising in marine species from around the Ibizan coast.

It’s not only its setting in a water-hewn cave that makes it different. Inside, a walkway guides you around the exhibits where you can look down into open-top aquaria, much as if you were snorkelling.

Smaller species, Crustaceans etc, can be viewed through the glass in standard aquaria.

The aquarium is a member of CREM, a recovery network for injured marine species such as turtles, that are treated and rehabilitated before being released back into the wild.

It also undertakes educational activities with schools and colleges and offers internships to university students.

To round off your visit, the aquarium has a lovely terrace café area where you can enjoy grilled sardines with fresh local salad while you take in the beautiful views across the Bay of San Antonio. Definitely worth adding to your things to see in San Antonio list.

5. Take a boat excursion – one of the best things to do in Sant Antoni de Portmany

6. Discover the real Ibiza on a quad, buggy, or scooter guided tour

Around San Antonio, you will find plenty of agents where you can hire everything from a car to a quad, a buggy, or an e-bike, and do your own thing.

To make the most of this idyllic island though, a guided tour is the way to go. Fully trained and experienced guides will lead you to some of the most memorable things you will see in San Antonio and the surrounding coast and countryside.

From the stunning Ibiza interior to beaches and coastal areas unreachable by car . Discover forests, cultivated groves, and villages where you can take time to enjoy a snack and drink.

7. Visit the Church of San Antonio

Best things to see in San Antonio de Portmany: San Antonio Church

Located just off the promenade as you head toward the port area, the church is the second oldest in Ibiza. It was built in 1305 by the Archbishop of Tarragona to serve the religious needs of the local population.

In the early 16th century, the coast was regularly plagued with marauding pirates, and the church was substantially fortified , including steel doors and cannons on the roof, to protect sheltering residents and repel any pirates who got too close.

The church is open most of the day, with a mass held at 19.00. Its collection of artefacts, statues and paintings also makes it worth visiting.

Other local places of worship include the Church of Sant Rafael, the underground Chapel of Sant Agnes to the north of the town on the Cala Salada road, and the small Chapel of Buscastell.

8. More things to do in San Antonio: View the cave paintings at Ses Fontanelles cave

Not the easiest attraction to reach , but if you have a passion for prehistoric cave paintings and magnificent views, it is an excursion well worth the effort.

From Cala Salada, the walk takes around one hour over a rough, rocky trail.

If you are considering renting a car, make it a 4×4. Once you leave the main tarmac, the rough track is strewn with rocks and potholes, but you can get close to the cliffs, leaving just a short hike to the cave .

Used back in the day as a wine cellar, the cave at Ses Fontanelles sits around 50 metres above the beach .

The paintings were discovered in 1917 by French archaeologist Henri Breuli and are thought to date back to the Punic era, around 200 BC.

Unfortunately, in recent years the entrance has been fenced off to protect the cave paintings from deterioration caused by human breath.

Nonetheless, you can still make out the paintings as you look into the cave and resin replicas have been placed around the entrance for closer examination.

It is also an excellent place to rest and eat your packed lunch, enjoying the stunning views across the bay and along the coast.

9. Sunset Strip – the place to be for the best sunsets in Ibiza

Pick up the promenade and head towards the port. Walk to the end of the harbour, pick up the steps off to the right, and you’re at the beginning of Sunset Strip .

The promenade is lined with café/bars and restaurants on the one side and tables and chairs on the sea side for visitors to enjoy a drink or meal as they photograph the setting sun.

You’ll find new bars such as Space Eat and Dance , Savannah, purporting to attract a more mature clientele, and old favourites from the 1980s, such as Café del Mar and Café Mambo, regularly crowned best bars on the island, that have stood the test of time.

Most of these vibrant bars hold pre-party parties. With DJs from all musical genres playing their sets, it gets very busy, so early arrival is recommended.

It’s a long promenade, and the further you walk it does get a little quieter, but only a little. Nonetheless, even if you’re not a party person, the fabulous sunsets and sheer vibrancy of the area mean you have to add at least one visit to your things to do in San Antonio list.

10. Dining out in San Antonio, Ibiza

One thing’s for sure, with fast-food joints on almost every corner, and most bars offering everything from a full-English to tapas plates, you won’t have a problem finding something to eat in San Antonio.

However, I have highlighted a few well established, quality restaurants for those looking for something a little more for that special occasion or family get-together.

Es Tragon – Nestling in a pine wooded area just a five-minute cab ride from San Antonio, Es Tragon restaurant is the island’s only Michelin star award winner. A great place to enjoy a taste of traditional Mediterranean fine dining, although you will pay a premium.

Rincon de Pepe Tapas Bar – Located in San Antonio town at Calle San Mateo, by Fountains Square, this restaurant opened in 1962. It is one of the town’s oldest restaurants specialising in Spanish tapas dishes, steaks, fish, shellfish and kebabs.

Rita’s Cantina – One of my favourites. Open from 08.00am to 01.00am. This is a great little bar for breakfast, brunch, lunch or snacks in a lovely setting by the marina.

La Cantina Canalla – If you have a taste for Latin American food, then this is worth visiting. Located at the bottom of West End, La Cantina Canalla is not a Mexican restaurant but Peruvian. If you’re not sure, ask for a tasting plate. Great food, reasonably priced and excellent service.

Relish – Located on the waterfront, Relish is a great venue to seek out your favourite comfort food. Open from 17.00 to 23.00, pick from pork belly and juicy burgers, steaks, curries and pasta, along with vegetarian and vegan options – all at very reasonable prices.

11. We’ll meet at El Huevo de Colón (The Egg of Columbus)

What to see in San Antonio: The Egg of Columbus

Located on the large roundabout at the entrance to San Antonio, the egg was unveiled in 1992, to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus discovering America.

At 6 metres high, the egg has a hole through the centre holding a model of t he Santa Maria Caravel , the sailing ship Columbus skippered on his journey.

Easily located, the egg is often used as a meeting place for groups who get split up as they explore the town and surrounding area, and is one of the town’s most photographed attractions.

12. Check out the West End Party Venues to suit all pockets

Are you ready for a little hard-core partying? If you’ve previously visited the Sunset Strip, you’ve already got a foot on the party ladder.

The ‘West End’ is San Antonio’s main area for throbbing bars and pulsing clubs that draw party people like a magnet from as far afield as Ibiza Town and beyond.

The main zone begins around 100 metres from the beachfront and includes a few of the nearby smaller streets. The whole area is fully pedestrianised with themed bars and clubs catering for every musical genre you can think of – and some.

13. Go wild in San Antonio super clubs

Located close to the West End, two of San Antonio’s favourite super clubs are arguably Eden , reputed to have the best sound system on the island, with regularly changing DJs and genres. And Es Paradis , a club that dates back to the hedonistic party days of the 1970s.

It became famous (infamous?) for its renowned water parties, which it still continues today, and which regularly packs them in throughout the season.

If you can’t find what you want in San Antonio (which is highly unlikely), you can enjoy other super-clubs such as Amnesia, Pacha and Hi Ibiza . The journey takes around 20 minutes by cab, or you can catch the party bus from the main bus station every thirty minutes from midnight.

14. Enjoy daytime pool partying in an upmarket environment

Check out these two daytime venues if you prefer to avoid the large crowds but still like to party. Just don’t expect to pay €2 a pint or €6 for a cocktail.

Ibiza Rocks Hote l is located off the San Antonio promenade, with events and facilities open to resident and non-resident guests.

Listen to the latest hits from international stars such as Craig David, Joel Corry, Becky Hill and Fatboy Slim while enjoying your pool party. Event tickets are generally between €20 and €50, depending on the event.

Located on the seafront alongside the San Antonio promenade, O Beach Club opened in 2012 for a more discerning clientele.

On the terrace you can enjoy professionally curated cocktails as the party kicks off. Or just relax in one of the numerous hammocks or VIP tables around the pool area, while resident DJs spin nostalgic sets or the latest house music.

For over 18s only, the club opens at midday to 10.00pm, and entrance fees range from €20 to €40 depending on the event. Booking online will attract a discount.

15. Find a unique holiday souvenir in picturesque Sant Rafel de Sa Creu

If your body’s telling you it needs some time away from the sand, sea and crowded beaches, consider a few hours in Sant Rafel de Sa Creu.

This pretty village is located five miles inland from San Antonio. Just an eight-minute cab ride or 15 minutes by bus, it has, over the years, developed a reputation for its authentic, traditional gastronomy. That alone is enough reason for a visit, but there is much more to Sant Rafel de Sa Creu.

Since the 1970s, it has been attracting national and international ceramists, artisans, potters and artists to set up homes, workshops and studios. So much so that it has been declared a place of special artisan interest by the island council.

As you explore the village streets, you will find exhibition halls, Artisan workshops and studios where you can watch potters and ceramists producing their products, and browse the shelves for that totally unique memento.

Throughout the summer, on a Thursday morning, an Artisan market is set up on the main street, selling everything from pottery to ceramics, hand-made goods, paintings, clothing and woven baskets; and attracting many locals from the surrounding area.

So there we have it, 15 of the best things to see and do in San Antonio .

When and Where do Ibiza Boat Parties take place?

Ibiza Boat Parties set sail from two different parts of the island. All boats depart from a slightly different specific location, but in general the Boat Parties will leave from either Playa d’en Bossa or San Antonio .

The length of each Boat Party varies, however a typical Ibiza Boat Party lasts for 3 hours in total.

Playa d'en Bossa Boat Parties

On the East coast you have Boat Parties that depart from Playa d’en Bossa.

These boats normally take place during the day , meaning you can work on your tan at the same time as being on the boat 😉

Playa d’en Bossa Boat Parties typically depart between 1-2pm . As such you can expect food to be available on the boat either included as part of your ticket, or to be bought onboard.

Ibiza Boat Parties typically last for 3 hours, departing from either San Antonio or Playa d’en Bossa.

San Antonio Boat Parties

San Antonio is located on the West of Ibiza. It’s ideally located for sunset Boat Parties , giving you the best experience of day & night!

You’ll find that most San Antonio Boat Parties depart between 5-6pm . This gives you plenty of time to enjoy a perfect view of the sunset before returning to the harbour at around 9-9.30pm .

ibiza sea party 1

What happens during Ibiza Boat Parties?

So what exactly happens during a boat party in Ibiza? Good question!

Let’s run through a few things that you’ll likely encounter during the voyage.

All Boat Parties will provide some form of music on board. This is Ibiza… you knew that already.

That might be as simple as a resident, local DJ playing tunes as you cruise along the coast. There may be a live performance from an MC , sax player , or other live musicians to keep you entertained.

Special sound systems are installed on each boat so the music will be pumping throughout the trip.

Float Your Boat and Lost In Ibiza even have their own Funktion One speakers that you’d normally expect to see in the best clubs on the island!

Float Your Boat and Lost in Ibiza also attract the biggest DJs to their parties, such as FatBoy Slim , Carl Cox , Eats Everything , and Richie Ahmed . You will need to plan your dates carefully if you want to get a ticket to see one of the big names during your boat party!

Drink & Food

Despite being at sea, Boat Parties have well stocked bars to keep you refreshed throughout the party.

The most common drinks you can expect on each boat will be:

  • Soft Drinks

Each Boat’s bar will vary, and this also applies to food.

It’s more common to have food available (or included) with daytime Boat Parties that depart from Playa d’en Bossa. Paella , Pizza , and fresh fruit are typically available for these daytime cruises.

San Antonio Boat Parties don’t normally include food, so grab something to eat before you set sail!

Each Boat Party has a different schedule of what you can expect in terms of activities during the trip.

Sea conditions will dictate whether any of these activities can go ahead. If the water is choppy, then the Boat might set sail but not stop for safety reasons.

Jet Ski Boat Party

However, if the waters are clear, you will often have the opportunity for a swim stop which usually lasts around 30-45 minutes.

Some boats have water toys on them such as a Jetski , Banana boat and other inflatables to play with.

San Antonio parties will often stop to give you the perfect sunset photo opportunity.

What’s included with Ibiza Boat Parties?

There are lots of factors to consider when choosing an Ibiza Boat Party.

We’ve already discussed the time and location which are two things to consider before making a choice. Let’s look at what else a Boat Party ticket includes 👀

Club Tickets

In the last few years, many Boat Parties offer club entry as part of the ticket cost, which in gives even better value to your Boat Party ticket.

Each party has a different policy depending on the location and day of the week. We cannot recommend highly enough to do your own research on this . Bigger clubs such as Hï , Ushuaïa and Amnesia are often included, as well as smaller ones such as SWAG , O Beach and Ibiza Rocks .

If you want to be completely sure which clubs will be included for when you’re in Ibiza, you should contact the Boat Party directly a week before you go .

Ushuaia Night

Is an all you can drink bar important to you? If so, there are lots of options which come with an open bar onboard. Don’t get too carried away, as the drinks list is normally limited to beer , sangria and a couple of cocktails .

Boat Parties in San Antonio normally don’t have an open bar, but do include a few drinks. After that, you’ll need to pay for each drink. Don’t worry though, the bar prices are much cheaper than in the clubs .

Some parties will include food as part of your ticket. The Ibiza Boat Club Boat Party for example serves Paella on each of its daily departures.

Other daytime Boat Parties will often have food available either included as part of the ticket or for sale. As mentioned above, don’t expect this to be the case for sunset parties leaving from San Antonio.

If you want to party in style, some boats have optional VIP upgrade packages . This normally consists of a private table service on a separate deck of the boat and/or best views of the DJ booth.

The extra amount you pay per person is given to you in bar credit to spend onboard (similar to how the VIP tables work in clubs).

Ideal for Summer Season

A summer destination that needs no introduction, Ibiza holds a worldwide reputation for party vibes and glitzy beach clubs. But there is much more to this island than its after-hours activities and this 7-day Ibiza yacht charter itinerary will help you get the most out of your wellness journey around the White Isle.

San Antonio to Cala d’Albarca

You’ll cruise away from the crowds through secluded spots such as Cala Gracio and Cala d'en Sardina towards the beautiful backdrops of Cala d’Albarca. Surrounded by cliffs covered in greenery and scattered with huge boulders, this little bay is considered one of Ibiza’s best-kept secrets. Once you’ve taken in the spectacular views of its famous natural bridge, you’ll head on to the bay of San Antonio to watch the sunset in the peaceful pine forest setting.

This unique dining experience allows you to enjoy world-class dishes whilst overlooking Es Vedrà Island so try to go before the sun goes down to get the full effect.

As you set off from Cala d’Hort you’ll get a closer look at Es Vedrà.

This small yet dramatic island is the third most magnetic place on earth and is steeped in myths and legends, from sirens and sea-nymphs to the birth place of the goddess Tanit. Make a wish when you see the island and then cruise on to the uninhabited island of Espalmador to explore its famous natural mud flats and local wildlife. You’ll spend the night in Marina Formentera - popular with the yachting crowd looking to escape the busier urban ports on a Mediterranean yacht charter .

The SA Yacht Club on West Grayson Street opened for business on Nov. 3.

In 2016, Christian Craft looked at the tiny slice of neighborhood east of the Tobin Hill Historic District and west of Pearl and made a bet.

The co-founder of Bexar Goods Co., which makes hand-stitched leather accessories, bought two old houses next door to one another on West Grayson Street with the idea of creating a neighborhood destination.

Zoned industrial by the city some time before 1965, that section of the neighborhood, bounded on the north by U.S. Highway 281 and to the south by Interstate 35, had been encroached upon over the decades by warehouses and businesses like the Flasher Equipment Co., which stored barricades and cones on the property behind Craft’s pair of homes.

But like the developers who would eventually buy the Flasher property and turn it into condominiums, Craft saw Pearl’s influence creeping west and wanted to capitalize on it.

Like a lot of creatives who were born and raised in San Antonio, Craft had decamped for Austin, where he worked in advertising. A collection of what would turn out to be fake vintage leather-working tools set him on an unexpected path that ultimately launched this entrepreneurial journey and brought his family home.

After years of setbacks that included legal-savvy squatters, a house fire and a global pandemic, plus the steep learning curve of navigating the city’s zoning and development rules, Craft’s SA Yacht Club, an outdoor food court of sorts, finally opened for business last weekend at 310 West Grayson St.

Christian Craft, owner of the SA Yacht Club, a retail center on Greyson Street near The Pearl.

The name is a play on a confluence of sea-related signifiers, Craft said. The Bexar Goods Co.’s Airstream is a Land Yacht edition , the structures are shipping containers — get it? Like on an ocean — and nearby is Go Fish restaurant and the Pearl. He claims that he didn’t even think about the fact that his own name can be shortened to the heritage wooden boat company Chris-Craft.

A handful of picnic tables offer customers a place to enjoy the food and libations from the offerings on site, including the award-winning Naco Mexican Eatery, located in one container and Sippy’s, a tiny upscale convenience store with beer, wine and snacks, in the other.

Along the back of the property sits Jeepney Street Eats Filipino Fusion food truck and Outland, the Bexar Goods Co. land yacht. An orange vintage Volkswagen bug acts as sign and mascot, a tiny anchor thrown out behind it, a captain’s cap on the dashboard.

Perfect weather helped drive a successful opening weekend, Craft said. In between running around the day before the big opening, he marveled at the work it took to get to this moment.

From side hustle to main gig

“This is my first rodeo,” he said. “I hadn’t even bought a house before. I learned all of the lessons on this one. I’ve been hustling this for years now.”

The leather-making tools Craft’s cousin Guy Rubio bought at a Maine thrift store turned out to be more decorative than useful, but that didn’t stop Rubio, Craft and his brother Falcon Craft from forging ahead with their idea to hand sew leather goods for sale.

The result was Bexar Goods Co., which eventually included the Airstream showroom, parked for the past several years at Broadway News. Craft was still working in Austin, “but always wanted to kind of have a space that we owned,” he said.

He began eyeing real estate west of the Pearl, and fairly quickly landed on the pair of houses on Grayson. His original idea was to renovate and possibly connect them in some way. He began calling banks, seeking a commercial loan.

“I called maybe six banks, and they were all like no, no, no, no, no, no,” he said. “I kept asking, ‘Do you know someone who would?’ and that’s how I got to Michael at Citizen’s State Bank.”

Residents of apartments neighboring the SA Yacht Club have lunch at the newly opened retail venue.

That would be Michael Garland, executive vice president of the commercial bank, who suggested Craft meet him at the property and describe his vision.

“That was probably the longest deal I’d ever financed,” said Garland, who recalled title issues and a seller that tried to back out. Not long after Craft finally closed, developers who had purchased the Flasher property sought to buy Craft’s homes. He wasn’t interested in selling.

“They weren’t too happy about it,” Craft said. “But I was like, you’re going to build condos, and I’m going to supply the food and beer and entertainment for them.”

Navigating the system

Craft spent another several months trying to evict squatters who were living in one of the houses. That effort ended only when the squatters started a fire that destroyed the home.

He ultimately demolished both homes, and worked with childhood friend and architect Clay Hagendorf to figure out what to build there. With a limited budget, they settled on shipping containers, stacking two on each side of the property. Each is covered in thin slats of garapa, a Brazilian hardwood.

Craft hired a seasoned zoning attorney to get the property downzoned from industrial to Infill Development Zone, which modifies parking and setback requirements. He then spent most of the pandemic navigating the arcane world of city permitting. Hagendorf said he helped where he could.

“You have to have landscape plans, building plans, mechanical, electrical and plumbing plans,” Hagendorf said, “reviewed by something like 16 different divisions with the city. It took quite a bit of time.” After all that, getting workers to finish the project was its own challenge, Craft said.

He described his method for navigating all the arcane details of development as: ask a million questions, seek out people who could help and go with the flow — but never stop pushing.

As he picked his way through the system, the SoJo Commons townhomes were built. Three of them now loom over his back fence; their construction destroyed half the root system of a once-majestic pecan in the corner of Craft’s property. He has worked with arborists to try to save the tree, but it’s a sad shadow of its former self, most of its branches gone.

Across Grayson at the end of the block, a 250-unit apartment building is going up. Craft is thrilled with this ready-made customer base to come. He’s also mindful of being a good neighbor. He said he’ll likely have some acoustic music, but it won’t go late. He wants the Yacht Club to be a place where neighbors can walk over, chill and have tacos, or grab a six-pack and some snacks to take home.

“I just wanted to put something here that the neighbors would appreciate,” he said.

The SA Yacht Club convenience store, Sippy’s Beer and Wine, offers a variety of drinks and snacks.

About eight months ago, Craft finally quit his advertising job, and he, his wife and their toddler moved from Austin back to San Antonio, buying a house in Mahncke Park.

Now that the business is finally open, Craft said he can finally take a breath, enjoy the fruits of his and so many others’ labor — and get to know his hometown once again.

“I’ve just been ‘blinders on’ for so long,” he said. After the opening weekend, he texted his verdict: “The neighbors seem to really love it… Had them coming down multiple times for wine/beer/snacks — using it as intended, so made me super happy.”
