Yachting isn’t a common thing for a lot of people, so there’s a natural excitement built into the event, even if the boat never leaves the dock. All you have to do as the host is play into that vibe, and you’ve got yourself a successful event.

One of the best things you can do when inviting guests to a yacht party is to inform them in advance about general etiquette aboard a boat. Friends who are landlubbers will not know, for instance, that it’s customary to leave your shoes in a dock box before boarding a boat.

Afternoon cruises are 1 hour and the 7pm cruise is a two-hour route to the Statue of Liberty and back —how beautiful! On the menu: Maine Lobster Rolls, seafood platters, burgers, and ready-to-share appetizers. New menu items this year include tuna tartare, clam dip and chips, The Skagen shrimp roll, and sweet lobster clawsicles in four different flavors (mango, piña colada, strawberry and lime). The best deal on board may be the $17 glass of rosé and 3 oyster special, or you can go all out with the epic 28-inch lobster roll (dubbed the world’s largest lobster roll) for $149, to feed a group.

Here’s one for the schmoozy, romantic vacationers who are seeking a maximum NYC experience. This sunset sailing cruise with a live jazz band will have you gazing (and jiving) out as the sun drops below Manhattan. This is great information for me as I have always been a tomboy, and definitely not a high-maintenance type of gal. So, I always fumble with what to wear for upscale events such as these. I am also going on a cruise this winter, so this is perfect information for me. So the dinners on the cruise, do I need to dress up each night for these? Do this for your next party! We had 20 people and it was plenty of space for dancing on the roof or deck. There are legal limits on capacity so make sure your head count is correct. Swimming, cruising, was amazing! Captain Jerry will make sure you have fun, and keep you safe Great times :)

Lots of room inside the galley to serve food, great party sized Bluetooth speaker, plenty of room for up to 26 guests on the front, back, and upper deck of the boat. Most ideal would be on a hot day warm enough to drop anchor and swim, but had a fun time even on a chillier evening. Not the fanciest boat, but has everything you need and ample space for a fun time! Seems pricey, although you get plenty of time on the water and is competitive with similar market options. Best value if you get all 26 spots filled. Company could improve text/or email communications in advance of event. Captain is kind and communicative.

This was one of the greatest birthdays I've ever thrown in my entire life!! Do not walk, but RUN to book this boat. It's not your boujee super expensive boat, and it's definitely seen it's fair share of parties so don't expect it to be some immaculate boat but it is a very fair price!! But in my opinion it made it better because there were no major rules except basic safety and common sense of course! Just know you can have 26 ppl total and it's max 10 on the top deck so the group may be separated for some times of the night. We did the evening cruise from 6-11pm and it was soo beautiful! Passed Gas Works and the beautiful Skyline and parked it farther so we could bump the music and party! Captain Jerry and his daughter gave me and my friends the space and privacy to party, dance, jump off the boat, swim, and just turn up! If you're not uptight and not afraid to get a little down and dirty then this is the boat for you! Im seriously considering making it a yearly thing and all my friends agree fursure. Thank you captain Jerry!!

This is our 3rd Year and definitely not our last to go on the Fun Boat!! The Captain and Crew are so much fun and they really take the time and effort to make sure everything goes smoothly. We max the boat each year and we still have room to move around, dance, and have a great time!! See you all next year!!

Huge thanks to Captain Rick and BJ for making my 23rd birthday bash a huge success!!! We had a group of about 15 friends come on board the boat and it was a non stop party from start to finish. The crew was super accommodating and a blast to have join in on the festivities! The boat was very clean, a great size (wrap around balcony and top tier deck to lay out, hang out and have an awesome view) and the rental process was super easy! We cruised around Lake Union & Lake Washington stopping at different points to dip in the water and grill. The crew was so sweet to even let us stay on and cruise for another hour! It was the perfect way to celebrate with good friends, they can't stop raving about how much of a great time it was. The best party boat rental hands down! Definitely recommend Seattle Fun Boat to anyone looking for a great time, reasonable pricing and awesome customer service. You won't be disappointed. Thanks again Captain Rick & BJ, y'all were the most lit crew ever!

If you are looking for the party of your life, then stop what you are doing immediately and book a trip with Seattle Fun Boat! We rented the boat for a going away party (23 people) and it couldn't have been better! They let us bring our own food and drink on board, swim in Lake Washington, and have an amazing party. Captain Cameron and the deckhand were awesome! Super helpful, hung out with the group, and got us back safely. For the price, you won't find a better boat!

My group of about 20 vaccinated friends and I were the first group of the season for the fun boat and it was an absolute blast. Captain Jerry and his daughter were a great crew and were very kind. Everyone had such a great time and I would absolutely rent again!

Such an easy process to book this last minute boat trip with 27 of my friends for the July 4th weekend. I called, spoke to who I believe was Jerry's wife and reserved the date with a $200 deposit. The final balance was due day of. We had so much fun!!! We were allowed to dress up the captain in literally anything we wanted. We could bring our own booze and food!!! At night we had an epic dance party inside and during the day we were all chilling around the hot tub. Some of us even jumped from the top of the boat into the water. I have so many photos and memories. This is something everyone enjoyed and I would do once a year for sure!!!!

Ohio brothers sentenced to jail time in ‘targeted attack’ in Dubai

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Two Ohio brothers were sentenced in Dubai last week after a night out went horribly wrong.

Former U.S. Airman Joseph Lopez and his brother, Joshua, were sentenced to one month in prison for drinking alcohol on a yacht back in June.

The two men were in Dubai to travel, see the sites and create social media content for Joseph’s influencer career. However, things quickly went downhill after they accepted an invitation to a yacht party from a new “friend.”

FOX19 NOW’s Megan O’Rourke spoke with Joseph back in July to hear his side of the story. According to the veteran, it all started when he was hit with an expensive bill onboard the yacht - one he did not take part in and refused to pay.

Upset and confused on how that could have happened, the issue seemed to have been resolved, he said.

“And then this girl brought me a drink and after she brought me this drink, I don’t remember anything,” Joseph told O’Rourke. “Basically, she drugged us.”

The men did not remember the rest of the night and woke up in the back of a vehicle. They thought they had been kidnapped, not realizing that they were arrested.

Joseph says while in custody, police did not conduct a breathalyzer test for 24 hours or a drug test for four days.

In addition to their alcohol sentence, the brothers are also facing damaging government property and assaulting an officer charges.

If they are found guilty of the other two charges, they both could spend several years in prison overseas.

According to FOX19 NOW’s previous story, the two Ohioans were released from jail on bond after a few days there, however, they were forced to rent an Airbnb due to a travel ban against them.

The CEO of Detained in Dubai, Radha Stirling, says this was a “targeted attack” and is telling of the country’s character.

It is clear they were targeted by scammers who were wanting to rob them. They were given one drink onboard the yacht and the next thing they remember is being taken away by plain-clothed police officers in an unmarked vehicle. They were under the impression they were being abducted. The police did not test their blood for presence of any drugs or sedatives despite the boys’ request for them to do so. The government portrays that Dubai is a safe and crime-free destination for tourists but the fact is, we see tourists targeted all the time. Whether it’s financial predators looking to scam visitors like Joseph and Joshua or attacks on women like Selina Waterman Smith, who was abducted and gang raped. The government doesn’t seem to acknowledge crimes in the statistics they provide to the media or tourists. It’s a myth that Dubai is crime-free. Stirling’s organization has helped tens of thousands of people who are facing/faced legal issues in the United Arab Emirates, including the Lopez brothers.

Currently, Detained in Dubai is calling for U.S. diplomatic intervention, specifically from U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio), U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and JD Vance (R-Ohio).

“Without diplomatic intervention, these boys face potentially years in jails notorious for human rights abuse and torture,” Stirling wrote. “Joseph Lopez is an Air Force veteran who helps people in difficult situations through his mental health advocacy. He and his brother deserve every effort from the US government to bring him home.”

As of Monday afternoon, none of the three politicians have released information or input on the Lopez brothers.

TikTok personality Jools Lebron has sparked a viral trend with her use of the word "demure." Lebron's popularity surged, with her second video on "how to be demure and respectful at the workplace" reaching 34 million views. During her recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," guest co-host RuPaul asked Lebron about her experience, to which she replied, "Very demure, very mindful," eliciting audience applause.

Lebron shared that the concept of being "demure" is a "mindset" and described her transformation as a journey from "crazy and out of control" to finding "demurity," which she humorously defined as her "purity." She also noted that she now has the means to afford her gender transition due to her online success.

Celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, have embraced the demure lifestyle. Lopez highlighted her own take on the trend while promoting her cocktail brand Delola. Lebron also commented on RuPaul's red and pink plaid suit, remarking it looked "very demure," though she declined to elaborate on some of RuPaul's fashion details, saying, "I'd like to remain demure, please."

Despite an invitation to appear at the Democratic National Convention, Lebron missed the event due to a "wig appointment."

Maria Taylor will host late-night Paris Olympics coverage for NBC, be on Team USA boat for Opening Ceremonies

"I feel like I owe a lot to the athletes and the Olympics in general because of what that event now means to me and what it represents."

Details about NBC’s 2024 Paris Olympics plans continue to come out. Last month, the network announced that Mike Tirico would again host primetime coverage as well as a national afternoon show, with Rebecca Lowe, Craig Melvin, Ahmad Fareed, and Damon Hack also hosting daytime coverage. They also announced roles for long-time Olympics broadcasters Mary Carillo, Andrea Joyce, and Jimmy Roberts. And now, Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported Tuesday that Maria Taylor is set to host their late-night coverage, as well as play a major Opening Ceremonies role:

Deitsch writes that the move (which NBC is expected to officially announce later Tuesday) will see Taylor hosting on both broadcast NBC and streaming service Peacock, and that her Opening Ceremonies role will see her on Team USA’s boat. (The Opening Ceremonies will have athletes from all countries in a four-mile boat parade.) Taylor told him she’s thrilled for that role, saying “When it became official I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is going to be something I could have never imagined or dreamed of doing.'”

But Taylor also said she’s incredibly excited about her Olympics work in general. She’ll be appearing live from various venues across Paris for the late-night show to try and “make the city a central character,” and will feature significant guests. She’s also able to bring her son (Roman Ryan Taylor Hemphill, born in December) along for these Games. And she credits the last Olympics (stylized the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it actually took place in the summer of 2021 due to COVID-19) as reviving her interest in broadcasting after her painful exit from ESPN , with it even marking her first on-air event for NBC . Here’s what she told Deitsch on that front:

“When my departure from ESPN happened, I was depleted, exhausted, in a lot of ways torn down,” Taylor said. “I feel like the Olympics have restored me. Being in Tokyo and being a part of the opening ceremony there, it just revitalized my passion (for) working in sports broadcasting. I feel like I owe a lot to the athletes and the Olympics in general because of what that event now means to me and what it represents. It breathed a lot of life back into me. “When I started in broadcasting, my goal was to be at the women’s volleyball national championships and maybe host the women’s basketball tournament. Now you’re telling me that I get to host an Olympics where Mike Tirico and Bob Costas have stood in and talked about these things. You could tell me that I was going to do this under a rock at 2 a.m. and I’d be like, ‘I’m hosting the Olympics!’ I didn’t know how much it would mean to me three years ago and now I even get to bring my baby to cover the Games.”

It’s interesting to hear Taylor speak about how much the Olympics means to her. And it’s notable to see her in a major role like this, with the late-night coverage often a key part of Olympics broadcasts. Taylor has been wearing a lot of hats at NBC, and may have more still to come if they do indeed get NBA rights, but this one seems particularly important to her. We’ll see what she does with it.

DNC Day 1 live updates: President Biden says 'America is winning' and Trump is a 'loser'

President Joe Biden will be Monday night's keynote speaker.

CHICAGO -- The Democratic National Convention is set to begin Monday, Aug. 19 in Chicago -- during which Democratic Party delegates are set to support Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz after their unconventional path to the party's nomination.

During the four-day convention, Democratic heavyweights are set to fire up the base and rally behind Harris, who was officially certified as the Democratic presidential nominee earlier this month after getting the vast majority of delegate votes in a virtual roll call.

ABC News will have special coverage of the DNC -- including primetime coverage from 10 p.m. until 11 p.m. ET on ABC every day of the conventions, and on ABC News Live from 7 p.m. until 12 a.m. ET.

How can I watch the DNC?

The DNC will stream on multiple platforms -- including TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. The official live stream of the 2024 Democratic National Convention will be available on its website.

Prime-time programming will air live from 6:30 p.m.-11 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. CT on Monday and 7 p.m.-11 p.m. ET/6 p.m.-10 p.m. CT on Tuesday-Thursday, according to the DNC.

Hulu will also have live reports available all day, and ABC News Live will have robust coverage each day of the convention.

ABC News Digital and 538 will live blog the latest from the convention and provide analysis as the convention events unfold.

James Taylor to perform at DNC Monday

Musical artist James Taylor will perform at the Democratic National Convention on Monday.

The artist performed a sound check ahead of the convention's start Monday afternoon.

Taylor, a staunch Democratic supporter, is known for songs such as "Fire and Rain," "How Sweet It Is" and "You've Got a Friend."

March on the DNC starts

A march organized in support of Palestinians in Gaza during the DNC has started, hours before its first night of programming kicks off.

Organizers with the Coalition to March on the DNC, which represents more than 200 activist organizations, said about 15,000 people were present for a rally held in Union Park, near the convention site, ahead of the march.

President Biden arrives at Soldier Field landing zone on way to DNC

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden arrived at the Soldier Field landing zone Monday afternoon, where they were greeted be several local politicians.

The Bidens arrived about 3:15 p.m. CDT, and were greeted by Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, Gov. JB Pritzker and MK Pritzker, Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle and more.

Both the president and first lady are expected to speak at the opening night of the Democratic National Convention Monday .

Biden to have his DNC moment with opening night speech
