In the quest to discover the epitome of maritime luxury and distinction, the search for the Most Exclusive Yacht Clubs in America takes center stage. Owning a yacht is not merely a symbol of opulence; it is the initial stride towards securing a coveted position within the global elite. Yet, within this realm, it is widely acknowledged that membership in a prestigious yacht club holds equal, if not greater, significance than yacht ownership itself.

Consider the tale of Roman Abramovich, renowned for possessing one of the world's most opulent private jets and the most lavish yacht. Astonishingly, even these credentials failed to secure him entry into the inner sanctum of the British elite, who maintain their exclusivity with unwavering resolve. British yacht clubs, with their hallowed traditions, have long been revered as bastions of exclusivity. An example that stands out is the Royal Yacht Squadron, the world's most esteemed yacht club, which only admitted women as members in 2013, exemplifying the enduring barriers to entry even in the face of societal progress. Remarkably, this exclusivity extended even to Her Majesty the Queen, their patron, who, despite her regal association with the club, was not granted membership.

To identify the Most Exclusive Yacht Clubs in America, we embarked on a meticulous journey. Beginning with a thorough examination of the Platinum Clubs of America's esteemed listing of the finest yacht clubs in the United States, we elevated select candidates by acknowledging their triumphs in prestigious yachting events, including the illustrious America's Cup and the Resolute Cup, often hailed as the unofficial club championship of America in yachting. The culmination of our pursuit presents you with the ultimate showcase of yacht club exclusivity on American shores.

11. Southern Yacht Club

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana Founded: 1849

Southern Yacht Club suffered greatly from the Hurricane Katrina. The club house was severely damaged by the fire that broke during the storm and it had to be demolished. Unfortunately, a large number of priceless yachting artifacts were lost in the process. Still, the club survived and in 2009, the members celebrated 160 years since its founding. The club played an important role in New Orleans’ social life throughout its history and continues to do so. Southern Yacht Club organizes the Race to the Coast, one of the oldest yachting regattas in the Western hemisphere. Its members won 4 golden medals in the Summer Olympics for the United States.

Founded by the group of 25 sailing enthusiasts in 1914, Grosse Pointe Yacht Club is located on the shores of Lake St. Clair. Its clubhouse, designed by Guy Lowell, is listed on National Register of Historic Places. Unfortunately, Lowell didn’t get to see his creation, since he died at sea before the building was finished. The most prominent feature is the 187-ft bell tower, which doubles as the radio far for sailors on Lake St. Clair. In 1997, in a survey among the managers of the yacht clubs across the United States, Grosse Pointe Yacht Club was named Number One Yacht Club in America.

It hosts annual Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, which brings more than 3,000 sailors from the entire country to the shores of Lake Michigan and Chicago Harbor Lighthouse. Although often teased by the other clubs about their lack of saltiness, members of Chicago Yacht Club are very proud of their club and its achievements. Its clubhouse, built in 1919, is considered as one of the most important local landmarks and is one of the oldest clubhouses on our list. Despite several enlargements and reconstructions, it struggles to offer top notch service to the club’s members and plans for a new one are under development. In 1986, the club sent a crew to try and qualify for the next year’s America Cup, but unfortunately, they lost to the San Diego’s boat, which eventually won the Cup.

5. Carolina Yacht Club

Location: Charleston, South Carolina Founded: 1883

Located in the beautiful historic setting of Battery in Charleston’s downtown, Carolina Yacht Club looks like Scarlett O’Hara will come in any second accompanied by Captain Butler. The fact that the clubhouse is in the old cotton factor’s office, with Greek columns on the waterfront, only reinforces the impression of the Old South. Members like to boast that their club has the best yachting facilities on the East Coast. While there are quite a few clubs that would disagree, Caroline Yacht Club’s location with the access to Charleston Harbor is certainly among the best in the nation. It is one of the reasons for its high placement on our list of 11 most exclusive yacht clubs in America.

Location: San Diego, California Founded: 1886

11 Most Exclusive Yacht Clubs in America

If you’re looking for a place to dock that new yacht of yours, you can’t go wrong with any of the 11 most exclusive yacht clubs in America .

Owning a yacht is the ultimate show of wealth. But getting one is just a first step on claiming your spot among the world’s elite. Some would argue that a membership in the right, preferably highly exclusive, yacht club is just as important as the actual ownership of a boat. Belonging to one of the most exclusive private clubs in America is well and fine, but a yachting club is a completely different matter.  Just ask Roman Abramovich. Apparently, owning one of the most expensive private jets in the world as well as the most expensive yacht isn’t enough to secure him a place among the British elite, who still snubs him regularly (but not his money, which they welcome.) Unfortunately for poor Russian tycoons, British yacht clubs are the epitome of exclusiveness. For instance, the most prestigious yacht club in the world, Royal Yacht Squadron, didn’t accept women until 2013. Some would say that this is the exactly the type of misogyny we have seen before, but gentlemen of the  RYS took it one step further by not accepting the Queen as a member, despite the fact that Her Majesty is the patron of the club, supplying them with the Royal adjective in their name.

But it’s not just about social status; these clubs are keepers of sailing traditions and play a big part in the communities they’re in. Their buildings often look like they’ve come straight out of a history book, situated in some of the most beautiful spots by the water.

The Big Names in The Yacht Club World

It’s not just about access to fancy amenities or exclusive parties; it’s about joining a community that shares your passion. These clubs also get involved in charity, education, and efforts to protect the oceans, showing that they care about more than just sailing.

How to Join the Club

Getting into these prestigious clubs often involves a careful application, a nod from current members, and a real interest in the world of yachting. Each club has its own way of doing things, but they all look for people who share their values and commitment to sailing.

The Nicest Yacht Clubs in America

Bill Michaels

The Yacht Club Lifestyle

Yacht clubs have always had an air of exclusivity and luxury, catering to the elite and wealthy class. The yacht club lifestyle is more than just owning a yacht but also the connections, traditions, and community it offers. For many yacht club members, it’s a way of life, a place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and indulge in the finer things.

Misconception: Yacht Clubs are Only for the Wealthy

While it’s true that yacht clubs cater to the wealthy class, it’s not entirely true that it’s only restricted to them. There are yacht clubs that are more affordable and open to all classes, although the amenities may not be as luxurious as the more exclusive ones. The costs of joining a yacht club vary, and there are clubs that cater to boaters on a budget. It’s important to research and compare different yacht clubs before joining to find the right fit.

The Yacht Club Community

Joining a yacht club means being part of a community of boaters who share a passion for sailing and cruising. It’s a place where members can share their experiences, knowledge, and love for boating. Many yacht clubs organize events and activities for members, such as races, regattas, and cruises, which provide opportunities to meet and socialize with other boaters. The community aspect of yacht clubs is what makes them unique and special.

New York Yacht Club

The New York Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in America. Founded in 1844, it’s located in Manhattan and Newport, Rhode Island, and has over 3,000 members. The club has a rich history and is known for its racing programs, including hosting the America’s Cup for 132 years. The clubhouse in Newport is a stunning example of French Renaissance architecture and has been designated a National Historic Landmark.

San Francisco Yacht Club

The San Francisco Yacht Club is another prestigious yacht club that has been around since 1869. It’s located in Belvedere, California, and has a membership of over 1,200. The club has a reputation for its racing programs and is known for hosting the oldest continuously held regatta in the world, the Belvedere Classic Regatta. The clubhouse offers stunning views of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Southern Yacht Club

The Southern Yacht Club is located in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has been around since 1849. It’s one of the oldest yacht clubs in America and has a rich history. The club was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but was rebuilt and reopened in 2009. The clubhouse is a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture and has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The club has a diverse membership and is known for its social events and regattas.

Chicago Yacht Club

The Chicago Yacht Club is located in Chicago, Illinois, and has a membership of over 1,500. It’s known for its racing programs and is home to the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, the oldest freshwater distance race in the world. The club has two locations, one in downtown Chicago and one in Belmont Harbor. The clubhouse in Belmont Harbor offers stunning views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

Royal Yacht Squadron

The Royal Yacht Squadron is located in Cowes, Isle of Wight, in the United Kingdom. It’s one of the most exclusive yacht clubs in the world and is known for its royal patronage. The club was founded in 1815 and has a membership of around 550. The clubhouse is a stunning example of Georgian architecture and overlooks the Solent. The club is known for its racing programs and is the organizer of Cowes Week, the world’s oldest and largest sailing regatta.

Yacht clubs offer more than just a place to park your yacht; they offer a lifestyle and community that’s unique and special. While membership may be restricted to the elite class, there are yacht clubs that are more affordable and open to all classes. The nicest yacht clubs in America offer some of the most luxurious amenities, stunning clubhouses, and prestigious racing programs. Joining a yacht club is not just about owning a yacht but being part of a community of boaters who share a passion for sailing and cruising.

A far cry from the exclusivity of real members’ only boating social clubs, irreverence is the name of the game at Denver’s Yacht Club, a self-proclaimed ‘anti-club club’ that bears the playful slogan: ‘Yachty by nature’. There, owners Mary Allison Wright and McLain Hedges aimed to combine three of their favorite types of drinking joints – cocktail bars, natural wine bars and dive bars – to achieve the ultimate hangout for locals and visitors alike. Thanks to its eco principles, Yacht Club is named the winner of the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2023 . Located in North Denver’s historic Cole neighborhood, there is zero pretension at the casual bar, which many Coloradans consider the equivalent of their modern Cheers. Drinks-wise, the programme mixes an eclectic approach of high – they have a fortified wine bottle list, for example – and low (like the Old No. 7-11 combo, which is a Jack and Coke with a hot dog). Even the finest spirits find a home in quickie combinations, which also sometimes skew somewhat nautical, with drinks like the Frozen Banana Daiquiri and Champagne Mojito bringing breezy fun to the mix, and the ‘Soft Bangers’ section of the menu features a few alcohol-free options for non-imbibers.

New england yacht clubs - the eight most notable, discover a variety of new england's best yacht clubs.

Clubs have been around for as long as mankind has shared common interests. In New England Yacht Clubs, the advent of yachting for pleasure rather than boating as a profession, plus the familiarity of famed yacht clubs in the United Kingdom and Europe, set the stage for these nautical groups.

Today, hundreds of yacht clubs from Connecticut to Maine operate from May to October. Some are known for racing, others are more social, several welcome both power and sail, many have junior programs, and just about all have full-service waterfront clubhouses. Most are private clubs rather than public recreational facilities.

That said, members of clubs either affiliated with U.S. Sailing or the National Association of Yacht Clubs can enjoy reciprocity. A letter of introduction prior to arrival paves the way. Beyond this, anyone can cruise by and admire the stately clubhouses as well as watch regattas underway. Here are eight notable New England yacht clubs.

Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club

Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club - new england yacht clubs - marinalife

‍ Boothbay Harbor, ME

‍ Called the Boating Capital of New England for the array of craft on its waters, Boothbay Harbor is a beacon for local and visiting yachtsmen who come to experience the fabled Down East cruising grounds and picturesque bay. Incorporated by the Maine Legislature in 1895, the club outgrew its original inner harbor location decades ago with its clubhouse, sailing center, tennis courts and docks now in West Boothbay Harbor. The signature fleet of locally designed 21-foot Boothbay Harbor One Designs launched in 1938 still sail. This year, the club added a vintage boat class to its annual regatta in July, a move that brings together its renowned racing tradition with the region's shipbuilding history. bhyc.net

Portland Yacht Club

‍ Falmouth, ME

‍ Founded in 1869 after several Portland area yachtsmen cruised to Boothbay Harbor and back, the club is one of the oldest continually operated in America and has counted U.S. presidents as members, including George and Barbara Bush. A key attraction is its location on the shores of Casco Bay, where the 365-some calendar islands make for excellent cruising and natural marks for racing. The club started its first one-design fleet with a Starling Burgess sloop in 1903. The tradition continues with J/24s and Etchells. There's also Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHF)-scored races for cruisers. portlandyachtclub.com

Boston Yacht Club

Marblehead, MA

‍ Located 17 miles north of Boston, this 1866-founded club counts famous naval architect Nathanael G. Herreshoff, then still a teenager, as one of its original members. The club operated in six different venues through the years, but all operations are now in Marblehead. The membership is keenly sailing oriented, so much so that the start line of many races was reconfigured to be spectator-friendly, having the fleet sail toward shore before heading seaward. Hundreds of land-lubbing onlookers and often 400-plus spectator boats watch as yachts depart on the world's longest-running offshore ocean race, the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race, which starts July 11, 2021. bostonyc.org

Corinthian Yacht Club

‍ The who's who founders and members of this 1885-founded club on Marblehead Neck include past and present boat builders and sailmakers such as John Rhodes, John Alden, George O'day, Ted Hood and Robbie Doyle. Today, the club is a hot spot all summer long, from junior sailing programs to major regattas hosted almost weekly from June to August. The signature event is the century-plus-old Marblehead Race Week, where 200+ boats compete in classes such as International One Designs, J/70s, Rhodes 19s and Viper 640s. Members, guests and friends of regatta competitors enjoy a front-row view from the porch of the 19th century clubhouse. corinthianyc.org

Edgartown Yacht Club

Edgartown Yacht Club - new england yacht clubs - marinalife

‍ Edgartown, MA

‍ Located on Martha's Vineyard, what was once the main whaling wharf in Edgartown is now home to this club's facilities over the water. The first members in 1905 raced catboats, knockabouts and sloops followed by clambakes and ice cream socials. Nowadays, while dock space is limited, the town-run mooring field in the harbor is the best vantage point. The prevailing southwest breeze in the summer is extremely reliable, making for superb racing until winds lie back down in the evening. The club's major races, like its nearly century-old annual regatta, often maintain a crew board or listing of yachts looking for race crew. The quaint town, with its historic houses, restaurants and shops, is within walking distance. edgartownyc.org

Ida Lewis Yacht Club

Newport, RI

‍ Namesake of the famous 19th century keeper of the Lime Rock Light in Newport Harbor, the 1928-incorporated club is now rooted on this rock. The club's burgee gives a nod to Lewis, with the 18 white stars circling the blue lighthouse representing the number of lives she saved. Today, a small light on top of the clubhouse remains with a few artifacts on display, although the bulk of Ida Lewis memorabilia is displayed at the Newport Historical Society Museum. The club has an active summer-long racing and cruising calendar, with cruises to neighboring islands. ilyc.org

New York Yacht Club, Harbour Court

‍ Rules are strict on who gets into the prestigious New York Yacht Club in Newport, a century-old residence modeled after a French chateau that the club purchased in 1988. Even from the outside, cruising by on Brenton Cove or from Sail Newport across the water, this piece of architectural eye candy is equally impressive when its fleet is docked and characterizes quintessential New England yachting. Those lucky to be invited on the grounds by a member can see the first clubhouse, an 1845-built Gothic Revival building, which was moved to Harbour Court in 1999 and is still used for meetings. nyyc.org/harbour-court

Essex Yacht Club

Essex Yacht Club - new england yacht clubs - marinalife

‍ Essex, CT

‍ The Connecticut River and its beautiful view is the focal point for activities at this nearly 90-year-old club. Yacht racing happens most weekends in the summer. Regattas range from community-oriented events such as the Special Olympics Invitational Regatta in June on the club-owned fleet of Ideal 18's to highly competitive one-design, double-handed and distance races. Onshore sunsets are spectacular to see from the riverfront benches, grassy lawn or gazebo. The club is set in an easily walked nautical hub with the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club next door, the town dock next to that, followed by the Connecticut River Museum. essexyc.com

Hull Yacht Club

Item added to your cart

The Hull Yacht Club, founded in 1880, is located directly on Allerton Harbor in Hull, MA. One of the oldest yacht clubs in America, the club has a rich history of yacht racing and cruising. The current membership has a mix of sail, power and social-only members. Allerton Harbor is well protected from all points of the compass. The varied anchorages of the  Boston Harbor islands  are just minutes away, while many picturesque North and South Shore harbors are an easy weekend cruise.

During the late 1800’s, catboats dominated the fleet. Since the 1940’s the club has established itself as a dominant force in one design racing. Today, the club is involved in one-design, PHRF and junior sailing. There is a local fleet of Rhodes19’s and International 110’s. Our junior sailors race fleets of N10 (Turnabouts), Optimists, and 420’s. The club hosts a number of One-Design and Junior sailing events during the season. There is also a large group of PHRF sailors. You can almost always jump aboard a boat to crew, or skipper your own boat in the regular Wednesday night series and various Thursday night and weekend races. The Hull Yacht Club also sponsors several PHRF events including the Scorpion Bowl, the Solstice Race, the Flashlight Series, and the club’s signature event: the Great Chase Race , now one of the largest racing events in the Mass Bay area.

Youth Sailing Programs

HYC operates a very successful youth sailing program. Children can start out at a very early age and become proficient at small boat handling and general nautical skills. Young people can move along at individual rates into intermediate and advance programs. Instructions start with the Optimists and progress through to 420’s.The Hull Yacht Club competes in many interclub competitions and has representation at most major youth regattas. The club also sponsors a program during the summer designed to introduce local children to sailing.

A Spirit of Goodfellowship

Members work together in a cooperative spirit, an advantage for new members seeking advice on everything from sail trim to mooring set up and placement. A 2-ton hoist is maintained by the club that can be used to launch and haul small boats and for stepping spars. The Hull Yacht Club is low key and family oriented with young people playing an important role in the membership and activities. This is a member-run club with a strong spirit of volunteerism. While there is a very active racing program, many other members use the club as a base for cruising and powerboating, with groups often forming for weekend trips. Membership rates are reasonable and the facilities are geared for the active boater. Guest moorings are available. We invite you to come for a visit and learn more!

Orange County Yacht Clubs and Why They’re Great

nicest yacht clubs in america

One of the best ways to experience Orange County is by water, and the coastal cities that line the county are filled with boating enthusiasts and their favorite yacht club homes. Here are a few yacht clubs for boaters looking for a home to house their vessel or a community to join.

Huntington Harbour Yacht Club

The HHYC was formed in October of 1965 and is a welcoming place for boating and non-boating enthusiasts alike. Since 1966 the club has been a member of the Southern California Yachting Association, attaining senior membership in 1981. The club is also a current member of the United States Sailing Association and has a sailing school that trains more than 40 young sailors each year while also maintaining a competitive sailing program that has produced a good number of nationally ranked sailors, including crewmembers on the American entry in the America’s Cup racing series. In addition, traveling members of the HHYC are welcomed to clubs all over the world.

“Evenings are for our members and their guests to enjoy casual dining and drinks in the Commodores Lounge, said HHYC Club Manager Frank DiLapo in an email from Sept. 5. “Sunday’s the Club host Breakfast by the Bay, this meal period is open to the public. It is a wonderful opportunity for those who would like to learn more about the Club and experience this special place. The Club’s event calendar is chock full of celebratory parties for members’ enjoyment, many including live dance music. Finally, we are also respected for our robust Huntington Harbour Sailing Foundation, where we teach local children self-esteem and teamwork while introducing them to sailing. We have over 50 boats in inventory, including Sabots, CFJs, Lidos, and a new fleet of Cubes and Bics; many are available for our members to check out.”

The HHYC welcomes new members all year round and is happy to provide additional information about the club upon request.

According to SCYA, the Membership costs are:

Initiation fee: $850

Dues: $900 for a family, $575 for a single, and $50 for a junior member.

For more information, visit  https://www.hhyc.org/ .

Newport Harbor Yacht Club

Boating Traditions: America’s 100 Oldest Yacht Clubs

The development of yacht clubs in the 1800s is an important chapter of our boating and marina history in the U.S.—and tells us much about the country’s early yearning for nature and community.

The birth of organized boating, rowing, and sail-racing clubs in our country took place in the 1800s and many of these early yacht clubs are still in operation today.

If you’re a sailor, oarsman, or boater, you’re probably familiar with many yacht clubs around the country—but do you know which U. S. yacht clubs have the pedigree to lay claim to being the country’s oldest?

The first time I heard the phrase yacht club was during a weekend at our family camp on a lake in the Northern Tier of New York State, just outside Adirondack Park. As a boy, most of my weekends there were spent fishing, swimming, and boating, and at the neighboring marina I heard sailing stories about the St. Regis Lake Yacht Club, founded in 1897. (Not on the list here, it’s the 156th oldest yacht club in America.) I was and still am a powerboater—learning boating back then in an aluminum boat with a 7 1/2-hp outboard—but I was fascinated by the sailing stories I heard dating back to the turn of the 20th Century in New York’s Franklin County.

At Dockwa, our loose definition of a yacht club is:

  • Usually membership-owned and controlled by a board;
  • Can be exclusive, but many no longer are;
  • Can specialize in many different types of activities such as sailing, racing, cruising, and kids’ programs;
  • They do not always have paid employees and might be volunteer-based.

Many yacht clubs nationally use Dockwa as their dockage reservation-and-booking platform or for marina management. So recently we had some fun office chatter—because we all work remotely, it was actually digital direct messaging office chatter—about which of the country’s yacht clubs have been around the longest.

Without further ado, and giving a shout-out to International Burgee Registry , here is the list of the 100 oldest yacht clubs in the United States, in chronological order of their founding from one to 100, with links to those still operating.

America's Cup Match Racing

Next week, when the 37 th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup kicks off in Barcelona with its opening ceremony, the contest that began in 1851 with a race around the Isle of Wight between the fastest British and American sloops (the yacht America won handily) will come back to Europe for the first time in 14 years.

The move to the Catalan capital from the 2021 event in New Zealand will make it more accessible to sailing fans in Europe, and even North Americans who want to view the fast, technical AC75 foiling boats in person. Barcelona has been preparing itself for a surge of spectators for the “return” of the Cup, which was held twice in Valencia, Spain, in the aughts.

The America’s Cup may be billed as “the race with no second place,” but it takes three months of racing and four events for one of five Challenger teams to win the Louis Vuitton Cup, and that winner will race Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the America’s Cup final. The racing runs from August through October, and this year includes a first-time all-women’s America’s Cup as well as an event for the world’s best youth sailors.

Having Barcelona as a venue was a smart move, partly for the gorgeous beaches fronting the race course on the Med. But there is also the city’s magnificent architecture and sense of history as well as vibrant arts, culture and, of course, no shortage of Michelin-starred restaurants.

There are many five-star hotels in the area, but the smartest and most thrilling way to see racing is by water. The vessel options are wide-ranging—from weeklong superyacht charters to luxury suites on a cruise ships to day trips on sailboats with Michelin-starred cuisine. Many can be combined with on-land stays and even cruises to other parts of Spain as part of the itineraries.

One important note: Four zones adjoining the race course allow spectator boats. Before chartering a vessel, be sure to find out which zone the boat will operate in, because that impacts how close you are to the racing.

Here are 9 options to suit the most avid Cup aficionados or those visiting Barcelona who want to sip champagne and watch the AC75 foiling boats battle it out.

Superyacht ‘Resilience’

nicest yacht clubs in america

Edmiston is offering charters aboard the 212-foot Resilience during the America’s Cup. The ISA-built superyacht, designed by Enrico Gobbi, features a mosaic-tiled pool, circular fire pit and a BBQ for a ringside lunch. Post-race pampering comes via the steam room, sundeck jacuzzi and gym, and there’s even a self-playing Edelweiss piano and projector for evening entertainment. The vessel sleeps 12 across seven cabins. From September 16, weekly charters start at about $645,000 (€600,000).

Explora Journeys

nicest yacht clubs in america

The soon-to-be-launched Explora II looks very much like its sistership, the Explora I : onyx finishes, self-playing Steinways, on-deck Technogym bikes, a spa with a Himalayan salt room, Dunhill cigar den and a wine cellar boasting decades-old Chateau Latour. With 461 luxury suites, how was the Explora II chosen to become an America’s Cup viewing platform? The idea came from the top down.

“I love sailing and believe the Med is the most beautiful sea on earth,” Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the cruise division of MSC Group, told Robb Report during a visit aboard Explora I in Barcelona. “We thought if only our customers could also experience [the America’s Cup], we can call it the ocean state of mind.”

Explora II launches in mid-September, with itineraries planned to coincide with the different Cup events. On October 6, the vessel will be in port for the Louis Vuitton Cup Final and Puig Women’s Races. Guests can take a walk to the official race village and experience its excitement before watching the races from their suites. A 10-night journey starts from $5,210 per guest.

The Almanac Sailing Experience

nicest yacht clubs in america

Barcelona’s Almanac hotel has a romantic-gastronomic experience that offers guests front-row seats on a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 sailboat with a capacity for 10 guests. Besides the racing, the package includes two nights at the hotel. The boat comes with the hotel’s branded slippers and Jimmy Boyd bespoke amenities. Enjoy a selection of customized Cava Bellinis from the pop-up bar. Chefs from the hotels’ restaurant will also serve up shrimp salad and fennel ceviche paired with organic Spanish wines. The boat can be chartered every Saturday from August 31 to October 26. The Louis Vuitton Cup round-robin starts on August 29 and lasts through Sept. 8. There’s also the Puig Women’s Race (first all-female America’s Cup in its 171-year history) and, of course, the America’s Cup finals in October. Prices start at $2,940 per couple.

Superyacht ‘C’

nicest yacht clubs in america

For a majestic week-long cruise that incorporates America’s Cup summer races and possible side itineraries in Costa Dorada, Sitges and Formentera, Camper & Nicholsons’ expansive 177-ft C is the flashy option, defined by Minotti furniture, lacquered panels and a hamman. It also sleeps 12 in six cabins that feature a master and two VIP suites. Its chase boat also offers a great opportunity for side trips. Weekly charters from Sept. 18-October 31 run from about $513,000 or €400,000.

Sailing Yacht ‘Imagine’

nicest yacht clubs in america

UK adventure specialists Pelorus offer a private seat on an elegant sailing boat seeped in America’s Cup history. Built in New Zealand by Alloy Yachts, Imagine is a 110-footer that served as an official viewing platform for the America’s Cup in Auckland, but it has also completed three global circumnavigations. Beyond its sailing chops, it’s a beautiful vessel, with a blonde, teak-lined deck, large salon and dining area, and three cabins for sleeping seven guests. It will be available from October 12 for the America’s Cup final. Pelorus is also offering to bookend the week with trips to Majorca and Ibiza. About $101,000 (£79,121)

Superyacht ‘Diane’

nicest yacht clubs in america

Also available from Edmiston, the 141-ft Diane can accommodate 10 guests in five staterooms for the week. The interior is all about soft hues, featuring cream leather and white marble, boasting a bar and plenty of outdoor seating for watching the races. For the non-race legs, guests can take to the water via the large beach club, complete with seabobs and wakeboards. It has a Balearics license, making a hop to Ibiza or Majorca a possibility. Weekly charter rates from September 23 run about $150,000 per week (€140,000)

Black Tomato Cup Package

nicest yacht clubs in america
