Stewardess - Private Yacht - Permanent - Florida

We are recruiting a stewardess for a private 90ft motor yacht based mainly from Florida with regular trips to the Hamptons and the Bahamas. In addition to being responsible for service on the boat you are also responsible for preparing the house ready for the family’s arrival. Therefore, flexibility is key and working well as a small team to ensure the Principal is well looked after from the minute the family arrives to when they leave is essential. The successful candidate will be eligible to work in the US and will already be based around the Miami/FL area available to interview immediately. This is a live out position. You will be part of a 2-man team working alongside a captain.

Responsibilities

• Full management of the interior of the yacht ensuring it’s always maintained to a 5* standard
• Preparation and service of light meals on board for the family and guests
• Alongside the captain, prepare the client’s home prior to his family’s arrival
• Organise all food shopping before and during the trip
• Driving duties for the family and guests during their visits
• Work closely with the family’s chief of staff in regards to the movement of the family

Ideal Candidate

• Experience in yacht size equivalent or bigger
• Happy to work off the boat in the home as required
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• High levels of attention to detail with housekeeping, table preparation and service
• US passport or B1/B2 visa
• STCW fully updated
• PDSD Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
• Discretion & flexibility is paramount

Qualifications needed for this job opening: stcw 95, eng 1, food hygiene cert.This is the likely itinerary for this vessel: Florida, Bahamas, West Med. The crew is on the younger side and looking for someone bubbly and willing to assist with lines and fenders on rare occasions when docking. Cabin arrangements are a 3 bunk cabin shared with the 2nd stew and deckhand on charter/trip. Off chatter trip, the stews stay in the twin guest if they want to.

Job: Chief Stewardess Location: Bellefontaine, Martinique Chief Stewardess for a 44-meter private yacht. Yoga experience and English as your first language a MUST along with your B1/B2 in hand. The yacht will be in Martinique and will be cruising the Caribbean for the winter and perhaps further afar.

Job: Junior Steward(ess) Location: FL/Caribbean Permanent junior stewardess for a private Marshal Island flagged 105-foot motor yacht. Knowledge of handling lines and fenders when docking is a plus! The current crew chip in wherever necessary to succeed and are looking for a like-minded person. Qualifications needed: Valid STCW and ENG1 or equivalent. Likely itinerary: Winter: Bahamas - Caribbean. Summer: TBD. Candidate must have one of the following: B1/B2, Schengen, US Passport/GreenCard.

Job: Mate Location: Miami Permanent mate for a United States of America flagged 87-foot charter/private motor yacht with an awesome itinerary. Likely itinerary: Winters in Miami/Bahamas, Summers in New England and Chesapeake Area. The boat runs with 3 crew and can take up to 6 overnight and 12 daytime guests. This is a US flagged boat, so candidates MUST have a US passport or Greencard.

Job: First Officer/Chief Mate Location: North America Permanent first mate for a 132-foot US-flagged motor yacht. The candidates must be fit and healthy to handle all deck duties and water sports alongside the deckhand. Must be able to stand watch as this position requires assisting the captain in the Bridge. Manning requirements are for candidates with a 200T or equivalent. Valid STCW - ENG1 medical cert - 200T. Captain James has worked on the water since he was a teen. He attended Maine Maritime Academy for Marine Engineering and began working charters in the Hamptons. After making the move to Miami, he expanded his knowledge of the Caribbean, especially the keys and the Bahamas. He is called Thor by friends because of his resemblance to the Norse God.

Captain Philip has over 28 years of boating experience, from captain to maintaining the boats in top shape. He is passionate about yachting and truly is a captain that loves to share his knowledge for boating. He’s professional and takes his job for the waters very serious.

Veronika Leshko

Fate definitely had a hand at making me a captain and now I can’t imagine life without yachts and water. Everyday I get to see the most wonderful people having a time of their lives, celebrating anything and everything I can think of and creating happy memories that the yacht crew becomes a part of. “Find a job you love, you’ll never work again…”- for me it’s being a Captain.

Capt Keith was born in Miami, FL and grew up boating and fishing on the waters of South Florida. He is retired US Navy and has been a licensed USCG 200 ton Master for 30+ years.

Captain Manny has over 10 years of experience on the water and as a local knows all the best spots in Miami. He gained experience through work on yachts, ferries, dinner cruises, and tugboats. His professionalism and expertise in boating is sure to make each charter a fun experience!

Scott Stearns

If there was person who truly captained for the joy of giving people unforgettable experiences on the water, it is Scott. Scott has broad experiences on boats, from racing on professional sailboats internationally to delivering and running yachts. Scott studied engineering at Georgia Tech and now works in private equity. He is our favorite weekend captain because he shows up to the boat excited to meet the clients and make their time out on the water one of a kind.

Natasha Sedova

Born and raised in landlocked Belarus, I have always had passion for the ocean. I moved to Miami in 2011 and joined the Advantaged team in 2014: initially as a stewardess, and later transitioned to being a captain. I never get tired of breathtaking Miami sunsets, and will gladly share my favorite views of this amazing city with you.

Alexis hails from the “Big Apple” and has a charming and delightful personality that is equally as large!  A fashion designer by profession, Alexis is committed to providing her clients with elevated experiences, whether on the open ocean or ashore. Leveraging her New York City hustle and tenacity, Alexis easily adapts to any client or situation. Gregarious by nature, she enjoys lots of different art and design experiences, and has an innate ability to anticipate clients’ needs and make client experiences memorable.

Malia’s name is Hawaiian and means ‘calm waves’. She grew up on boats, learning how to wakeboard at the age of only 6 years old! She became scuba certified at 14 and it is her favorite pastime. Her passion for marine life will have her keenly searching for a unique spotting! With a Midwest upbringing, she is sure to be attentive to all your needs and sweet as apple pie!

Bella has always had an affinity towards the ocean and all it encompasses, this coupled with a fondness for hospitality naturally lead her to a stewardess role on yachts. A position she enjoys immensely with the aim of providing you the most enjoyable experience out on the water.

Are your courses accredited.

Yes, all TYS Academy courses are accredited through various awarding bodies within the UK and the Maritime Industry. We have also partnered with Industry professionals to ensure the course content is relevant and up-to-date with the ever changing demands of the industry.

What do I need to complete a TYS Academy course?

You simply need internet and access to a tablet (iPad) or laptop and motivation to reach your career goals!

How is the content taught?

We believe that Online content should be interactive and fun, similar to what you would expect from a classroom setting. Therefore, all modules include a variety of presentations, voiceovers, videos, images and downloadable templates. Several of our courses also include interactive assessments which will be reviewed by your instructor.

Can I study at my own pace?

Yes! We have designed these courses to ensure that you can manage your own time which is why you will have access for the course for 6 months from the start up date. If you are unable to complete the course during this time, please reach out to [email protected] to discuss your options.

Do I get a certificate?

Absolutely! We want you to be able to put your hard work and effort on your CV and showcase what a fabulous asset you are to an Interior Team.

Are the courses updated regularly?

Yes, the courses are reviewed on a biannual basis. These updates are based on changes within the industry, insight provided by student feedback forms and direct communication with Shipyards, Captains, Owners Representatives and Owners.

Do you provide onboard training?

RECRUITMENT AGENT

After 8 adventurous years of working on yachts, Taryn decided to return to life on land. She currently lives on the coast of sunny South Africa. Fresh off the yachts and having worked in high-end resorts and hotels, Taryn has a broad knowledge of what the industry needs and is well-qualified to find the perfect match for both crew and the yacht. Taryn’s friendly, kind demeanour and passion for the industry ensure to provide excellent and professional communication with clients and crew at all times. When Taryn is not working you can find her on the beach, participating in any form of outdoor activity or sharing a bottle of wine with family and friends.

Ciara joins our team with 5 years of experience in the industry and is based in Bristol, UK. She brings her people skills and passion for luxury customer service into recruitment whilst maintaining a calm and kind nature for both crew and clients. When not working, Ciara continues studying music history and classical music performance and enjoys walks in the countryside with her husband and sausage dog.

Mandy has 8 years of experience in the industry and brings her A-game from the South of France. She brings a unique and energizing perspective with 5 years of land-based recruitment experience in London and is sure to make anyone feel welcome with her kind-hearted nature. When she’s not working, she can be found spending time with her husband and daughter, enjoying the beauty of France.

Eloise brings 3 years of experience in the industry to our team. Currently living in South Africa, Eloise was the first member of the TYSR team and has since built lasting relationships with clients and crew. Eloise splits her time between South Africa and TYS HQ in the UK. She is incredibly caring and ensures all crew and clients get the best possible support, with high standard of customer service. When not working, Eloise spends time with friends and family enjoying wine farms and safaris in sunny South Africa.

Gemma Hulbert

FOUNDER AND CEO

Gemma founded The Yacht Stew in 2016 and has over a decade of experience in the industry. When she founded TYS she wanted to create a community for people in the industry and create an incredible support network that was both informative and nurturing. She brings her keen eye for detail, and her incredibly compassionate perspective to anything she does, and is sure to get anyone inspired. In her spare time Gemma loves to be with family and friends, or out exploring and traveling with her husband.
