Gulet Charter In Greece, Italy and Turkey

Marmaris destination guide.

marmaris town

Marmaris is the second biggest harbour for gulets after Bodrum. Offers shopping and nightlife along the coast from the stylish marina to Icmeler, the smaller resort close by. On the other hand, also provides culture, scenic streets and sympathetic villages, which lead to ancient ruins and perfect beaches.

Marmaris is smaller compared to Bodrum . The whole old town is set on a small hill with a Castle, so it is full of stairs, little white houses and shady corners. The sea washes it from two edges;  on one side there is cruise ship harbour and on the other one port for yachts. The best atmosphere is here, of course, in the evening.

The Marina of Marmaris is one of the most important places where to start a gulet cruise vacation. All gulet journey enthusiasts will sooner or later board a cruise from here. From Marmaris, you can sail along the beautiful Turkish coast; like Hisaronu bay or Fethiye and Gocek area. Or you can decide to visit South Dodecanese with the island of Rhodes.

The town has two faces it is up to you to find the one suits you better . Either it comes at you as mass tourism place with packed crowds, squashed into narrow streets bargaining, sipping drinks and dance till dawn. Or there is also a quieter Marmaris in the back lanes between whitewashed houses overloaded with Bougainvillea.

The town centre is located 80 from Dalaman airport and about 130km from Milas -Bodrum airport. The Greek island of  Rhodes is reachable by daily catamarans across less than 1.30-hour navigation.

Marmaris by night

Boarding a gulet in Marmaris

Marmaris harbour is a base port for many beautiful gulets. All gulets enter the port Friday afternoon and almost all leave for next cruise Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. The weekend is extremely busy for gulet staff and us. Gulets are lined along Marmaris seaside promenade from the entrance to the bazaar at Anatolia Caffe till Private Marina.

If you book a cabin charter, you will most probably spend the first and last night in Marmaris. So, you will have plenty of time to visit the town, its markets, maybe try a hammam and enjoy some nightlife.

When chartering a whole gulet for your group, you will probably prefer to start your cruise immediately and maybe to spend the last night at the port. If you want to leave the port the same day make sure your arrival time is before sunset. If you decide to cruise Greek islands, your arrival has to be even earlier as the custom close after 5pm.

Marmaris – Gocek – Marmaris Route

Marmaris – Gocek – Marmaris Route

7 nights marmaris yacht charter itinerary.

Marmaris

Marmaris is one of the rare towns in Turkey where you can swim right in the city centre, despite the increased construction, as enviromental and water treatment facilites have been installed. For those who seek cleaner seas and quieter spots there are many gulet trips that go to other bays. Stroll and explore the bustling Marmaris bazaar, getting the feeling of being in Asia Minor. Marmaris in recent years has spread out with new hotels and apartments but the old centre still retains its village atmosphere. Marmaris has a great choice of shops and restaurants many with an international flavour. The most important historic building in the town centre is the castle. The first castle built on this site was constructed up by the Ionians, with the present castle you see being built by the Ottomans in 1522. After the Ottoman Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent conquered the city in 1522, many buildings were built which are still visitabl today. Apart from its clean sea and shopping, Marmaris is also famous for its nightlife. Marmaris is accessible by international travellers via Dalaman International Airport (DLM) – Marmaris being 90 minutes and Bodrum Milas International Airport (BJV) – Marmaris being two and half hours.

Ekincik

One of the main stopping points for the gulets that cruise along bays between Marmaris and Gocek is Ekincik Cove. First you will see through the beautiful village of Ekincik, surrounded by gree. And than you get into the cove itself, which is extremely clean and has not been suffocated by heavy building. You are surrounded by forests while in front of you there is the beach and the sea. The beach is very beautiful and the water very clean. On its western part, among the popular stopping or overnighting coves there are Semizce, Kargi and Karacay. There are two anchoring points in the port of Ekincik. One of them is Köy Önü (In front of the village) In the area where the road meets the beach there is a quay where yachts can moor.

Dalyan / Kaunos / Iztuzu

The cute little holiday destination known as Dalyan is located on the shores of the fjord like natural channel, called Calbis in ancient times, which links Lake Köycegiz to the sea. With the start of tourism development in recent years and threat of the danger to the environment led to the area being declared by the state as a special protection district in 1998. This measure helped to protect the region from over development. The village of Dalyan, without a change in its natural beauty for many years, is today still very far from the threat of excessive development. Boats are all lined up along the channel in Dalyan. These channel are no more than places to cruise around and see as far as they are concerned. The boats are used as a private or shared boats for rent to enable tourista to the see the Iztuzu coast, the ancient city of Kaunos, the rock tombs and the sites of mud baths.

The ancient city of Kaunos / Optional Tour

From the wharf near the ruins reachable from Dalyan by boat it is just a 10 minutes walk to the ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos. Those coming by yachts can drop anchor around Delikli Ada and go ashore by small boat. Kaunos was a significant trading port, through it lost its strategic importance as the alluvial sands filled the harbour. According to the father of history, Heredots, the people of Kaunos were natives of Caria who considered themselves to be Cretans. The rock tombs that can be seen from as far as Dalyan were built in 4 BC and were also used during the Roman period later. In Lycian type tombs the dead were placed on rock beds.

The coast of Iztuzu became World famous thanks to the Caretta Caretta turtles. On one side of the coast are the Iztuzu beach facilities and on the other side are the Dalyanagzi day-outing beach facilities. This beautiful coast goes on four kilometres on end. There are suitable places high enough to take photographs as one gets closer to the beach. This panorama includes all of the delta and the coast. Iztuzu, quite apart from the Caretta Caretta turtles, is simply a wonderful gift of nature. And they come to the beach on here coast to lay their eggs. Their lenght is about 1-1.5 metres and they weigh as much as 150 kg. There is magnificent scenery of in a type seen in labyrinths, with the 5.4 kilometre along coast going round and round the marshes. On the coast around Dalyan during all seasons the turtles ranging up to one metre in lenght can be seen.

Sarigerme

Sarigerme, with its close proximity to Dalaman and with more modern accommodation facilities being built, has found itself as a centre of tourism in a region fast becoming internationally popular. The interaction of pine trees and the coast of Sarigerme, with its fine sand againist the backdrop of beautiful pine trees, has continued for centuries. Visiting gulets anchor in the rocky small cove on the North east of Baba Island. The sea is clean and shiny. A cave close to the northern end of the island crosses the island from one side to the other. On the top of the hill there is the ruin of a tower. The flat Dalaman Plateau begins to increase in height as you get to the Kapidag Peninsula, reaching an altitude of 500 meters before Kurtoglu Point. After this area, the Gulf of Fethiye calm waters begin. The 13,5 kilometres opening between Kurtoglu and ?blis (Dökükba??) is the mouth of the gulf. This gulf has the most popular coves and islands for the Blue Cruise gulets.

Bedri Rahmi Bay (Taskaya Cove)

The Taskaya Bay is one of the most beautiful coves of the region. There are always numbers of yacht moored there. There is a fountain with sweat water, a gravel stone beach lined with oleander, a Picture of a fish by famous Turkish artist Bedri Rahmi Eyübo?lu who was one of the early sailors of the Blue Cruise and the Picture of a kite made from gravel by another artist, Azra Erhat. All these features add interest to the region. To the North of the fountain there are the tombs cut into the rock and, in the flat area, there is a restaurant serving to the boats and a spring of cold spring water. The spring is surrounded with a concrete Wall and has been turned into a small pool. On hot summer days the pool attracts many people

Gocek

The Gocek region in Fethiye Gulf has numerous beautiful coves and islands and is extremely popular among the yachts or gullets on the Blue Cruise. In Gocek there are four marinas where all services are available for yachts. The Göcek coves and islands are the meeting place of Turkey’s and the world’s “high society”. Boats that compete in luxury with each other sail through out the region. Göcek is a calm and quite village where tall buildings has not been granted. The tourism activity of Gocek can said to be almost fully focused around the marina, with all the restaurants and shops being around the quay. The walking trail on the seaside that existed until recently has been removed after becoming shabby. By setting up new paths with a design in harmony with the environment, both locals and foreigners can be at peace with the sea.

Domuz & Yassica Island

Domuz Island

It is believed that it has taken its name from the wild boars living on that island once upon a time. The island is also called Prince Island referring to a prince living on here. The island is covered with pine and olive trees. There is a shallow area of 30 to 40 metres in diameter in the middle of the cove where there are ruins from the Lycian and Roman ages. The highest of the ruins are a meter below the surfaceof the water. It is very pleasant to swim over the ruins, especially when wearing the googles. Gulets can easily anchor and moor in the cove of the island as it is sheltered from the winds.

Yassica Islands

This group of islands are so small that no one could came up with names for each of them. They are together known as Yassicalar. There are no facilites on the islands. On the largest island of the group the beach is near the point and forms a small pool, excellent for children. One is able to swim between the different islets, the closest being just 12 metres distance. If you can swim for half an hour, you can visit four different islands and, if you have shoes with you, you can walk over on each of them.

Aga Port & Kocabuk

When you get towards the Gocek Gulf, the most popular destinations are AGA PORT and KOCABUK. The Aga Port consists of one small and one large harbour. Both end in a beach area. Those who follow the path upwards from Buyuk (Large) Aga port can get to Roman and Byzantine ruins in the Koyici region. Another leads you up the hill to the west and to the point of the Kapidag Peninsula that has a lake on the park. There are three or five houses around the lake, and a terrific view from above. After Aga Port you get to Kocabuk, Gobun Island and then to the Gulf of Gocek. The coves and the islands in the gulf have been declared a Special Environment Protected Region since 1988.

Kumlubuk - Kadirga

Kumlubuk is famous for its beautiful beaches that you could spare one of your evenings or mornings to walk to the ancient city of Amos, which is half an hour on foot from Kumlubuk. Amos was one of the most important ancient cities of its time, though today little remains. On the narrow and long flat space on the hill top above the gravel beach between Hisar Burnu (Fortress Point) and Kumubuk, you will see the theatre and the cith walls. The necropolis of the ancient city is leaning on the hillside above the small cove to the North. However, you will be more impressed by the stunning view below you rather than the ruins.

The Kadirga Cove, which is right before Kadirga point and on which there is a white lighthouse and the house of the keper, is another stopping plaxe. Boats coming from Marmaris take a swimming break in here.

Turunc (Citrus)

Among the coves after you leave Marmaris are beaches of Turunc and Kumlubuk. In Turunc bay, you will see a beautiful painted sea with a special tone of blue. There are all shades of blue in the water: indigo blue, glass blue, and the blue of the sky reflected on the water and others. Turunc is hemmed it by a high covered in pines trees that bring a coolness to the seaside. Although it is always sunny it is not that hot. And of course pomegranate, mulbery, plums and citrus trees abound, through being called Turunc (Citrus) you would expect more citrus trees, throug to make up for this there are geraniums, oleanders and begonias everywhere. Turunc is one of the indispensable stops on the Blue Cruise.

gulet marmaris

Cabins on a standard gulet are smaller than you’d expect in a hotel but larger than a sailing yacht. They are handcrafted from mahogany, oak, pine and teak, clean and have a small wardrobe with a little storage for luggage.

Every cabin has a private en-suite bathroom with toilet,  shower and hot water in the evenings. One bath towel and one hand towel are provided, please bring your own beach towel.

With plenty of sunbeds on the fore and aft decks choose how to relax; sunbathing, reading, chatting or perhaps you’ll even sleep here under the stars. Meals are usually taken on the aft deck where you have a different view for almost every meal.

There’s a well-stocked bar with reasonably priced soft and alcoholic drinks. Please do not bring your own drinks onboard.

Depending on sea and weather conditions, Meridian Travels & Yachting reserves the right to make necessary changes to the tour itinerary to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests. The Captain’s decision is final.

Stay in carefully chosen hotels before or after your gulet cruise.

Whether you want to stay in a hotel overlooking the marina in Fethiye, a restored farmhouse in Kayakoy or a five star hotel complete with rooftop pool overlooking Marmaris bay we are happy to advise and book for you.

Gulet Charter from Marmaris

Marmaris is one of the most convenient locations to start your gulet cruising in Turkey. Southwest region of Turkey is the most popular geographic region for Gulet cruising and Marmaris lies right in the middle of this region. That’ s why you will have more fulfilling options of itineraries to chose from.

Quality gulets are available in every resort. Also the gulet that you have booked will probably will be in another port disembarking previous guests. Any gulet will come to you whichever embarkation town you have chosen. So that means you are not bound to a certain harbor because the gulet is usually parked there. That gives you flexibility to chose any embarkation port.

Most cruisers embark from Marmaris area. Marmaris has a few different bays where you can embark. Most famous ones are Marmaris itself, Orhaniye, Hisaronu and a few more.

A lot of Gulet Travel Companies are based in Marmaris also. Most chain travel agencies has branch offices here as well. We recommend you chose Marmaris as your preferred embarkation port.

At your first day of arrival, you will have a free afternoon and evening before taking off. Because you will have time, you can explore Marmaris shopping, nightlife and restaurants. It is a pleasure to sit at the back of the gulet and just relax with a refreshing drink. The bar street of Marmaris is also located just around the corner of the marina also.

Even though Gulet Cruises in Marmaris are sold in weekly terms, WE CAN LET YOU HAVE A TASTE OF IT FOR A DAY OR TWO with your group of friends.

Gulets might be new to you and you are not ready to go on a week or two weeks blue-cruise yet. Because Gulet cruise requires planning. You need to get together a group of people to make it worthwhile. BUT you want to experience what it is like while you are here in Marmaris.

WE CAN ARRANGE a day or two cruise for you. Maybe you want to go with your significant other as a couple, or you have other friends in Marmaris and you all want to do it and get a taste of it. No Problem. JUST CONTACT US and let us know how many people and when. We will get to work.

During high summer season it is hard to find gulets because they are all fully booked. So we will need at least 2-3 days advance notice.

What Are The Categories Available for Gulet Sailing?

' src=

Blue Marmaris

When you are in Marmaris, do not forget to enjoy sailing tours in cool and turquoise water. Your investments will yield result when you decide to take tours on a gulet. It is a traditional wooden boat fitted with two or three sails. When I visited Marmaris along with my family last summer, I was lost in thoughts, as the gulet sped through blue waters. I booked an economy suite for my family, where we experienced the comfort with all modern amenities including a shower bath. Based on your budget, you can opt for standard, luxury or exclusive gulet. If you want to enjoy sailing in air conditioned cabin, then the standard type is the best choice.

In case of luxury category, in addition to air conditioned cabins, you can avail comfortable saloon treatment and pamper your taste buds with delicious cuisines. For those passionate about sun bath, go for exclusive type.

I was in Marmaris for my friend’s wedding and I had not much time to go for sightseeing. I have heard a lot of stories about the place, especially about the water recreation and the ancient relics, but wondering whether I should go for it. A friend suggested me to explore Marmaris over a cruise on a gulet charter Marmaris. Initially, I was reluctant but I changed my mind and booked the cruise. After the journey took off, I realized that I could have missed a huge opportunity to avail such wonderful experience. The best thing was the affordability, as everything including food was within the budget. We spent one day on gulet charter Marmaris cruise, since we booked for just one day, but after a couple of days we took the ride again.

I never had the experience of riding on a gulet cruise, but when I visited Marmaris, I fulfilled my long-awaited dream and it was a wonderful life time experience for me. A local tour guide once approached me and requested me to board on gulet charter Mamaris trip and he was talking about some discount on advance booking. However, I simply turned down his offer since I was new in the region. After a couple of days, one of my friends told me about the pleasurable experience of gulet ride. I immediately requested the resort manager to book a ticket since I had not much time for it. I embarked on the gulet at morning and started to sail in the deep of the sea. I was overwhelmed by the experience and want to avail the service of gulet charter Marmaris every time, whenever I will visit the place.

' src=

That was my first visit in Marmaris, as I have heard a lot of stories about this place from my friends who have visited the place several times. The area is excellent if you are here to make yourself relaxed. While walking through the beach I noticed many boats and gulets floating on the clear water of the sea. I asked the resort manager, how I can book ticket for gulet charter Marmaris ride and he helped me by calling up a gulet service provider. It was my two-day journey on Marmaris water, but the experience I got from the cruise was unforgettable. They provided world-class accommodation with excellent food service that made the ride more pleasurable and I will never forget the experience I got from gulet charter Marmaris in my life time.

Cruising on the Marmaris seawater was not in my tour plan, as visited the region for some personal reasons. However, one of my colleagues once suggested me to experience gullet cruise ride, if I can manage some leisure time from my busy schedule. A local coffee shop owner helped me to contact one of the of the most efficient gulet charter Marmaris service providers. Just to avail the experience I booked my ticket for just one day, but it was really a wonderful cruise ride with high-class accommodation. Believe me or not; I booked my ticked for another day and thoroughly enjoyed my trip in this region of Turkey. I thanked them a lot for giving me the opportunity to avail a wonderful sea ride through gulet charter Marmaris.

' src=

Paula Campbell

That was my second visit in the region, and this time did not want to miss the opportunity to float around the Marmaris by a cruise. My family was too curious about the joyful cruise riding on a gullet charter Marmaris. However, after our arrival, several travelling agents (most probably working for some cruise service providers) had approached us. But I decided to go with my local friends’ advice, which I got during my last tour in this region of Turkey. They suggested me to opt for these guys, as they are one of the most reputed and cost effective sea cruise service providers in the region. It was a wonderful experience with their gulet charter Marmaris for me and my family; thanks to my local friends who helped me to connect with the agency. Floating on the water of Maramis for two days was just like one of the most pleasurable moments I have ever experienced in my life.

TURKEY GULET YACHT

A gulet is a classic wooden, motorized, and sailing boat that is perfect for long sea voyages and close-to-land cruises.

Traditional Turkish gulets are made-to-order boats that skilled artisans construct from wood. Because they provide a very comfortable cruising experience, gulets, often referred to as motor sailboats, are perfect for coastal excursions and lengthy sea cruises.

We are aware that the first gulet construction began in Turkey’s Bodrum region. However, production is also taking place in Bozburun, Marmaris, Fethiye, and Istanbul as a result of the expanding market and demand.

Types of Gulets

Gulet: The gulet is the most well-known traditional yacht design for Blue Cruise. The dining table and seating area are located at the back of the gulets.

There is typically a sofa and enough sun pillows out front for everyone. The entrance to the cabins is through this hall, which features a dining table according to the size of the gulet and an interior hall.

The yacht’s round stern causes the guest quarters to be in the front, while the aft side is typically used as the technical area. The ability to sail is marginally superior to that of Aynakic gulets.

The AFT parts of Aynakic gulets are not round, as they are in gulets, but rather are in a structure with raised corners, which is a key characteristic that sets them apart from ordinary gulets.

They typically use this space for the suite room, or what we would refer to as the “master cabin.” All other details are the same as for gulets, with the exception of this characteristic.

Tirhandil is the oldest local wooden boat type with a pointed stern and the best-suited wooden yacht for sailing. Today, the equipment has changed from sloop to lifeboat and from sail to sail; the majority of them are three-corner sails.

They do not construct them on particularly lengthy decks, often between 15 and 25 meters, like other kinds. The same standards apply to their cabins. If you like sailing, this is the best option.

Accommodation on Gulets

Traditional Turkish gulets have evolved in appearance over time. A modern gulet today resembles a high-end floating hotel and can be anywhere between 15 and 55 meters (50 and 180 feet) in length. Gulet length and passenger capacity are not inversely related.

A 20-meter gulet, for instance, might contain three guest cabins or six. The cabins must be smaller in order to accommodate additional cabins of the same size. But in general, taller gulets make up vessels with six or more multi-cabs.

Every cabin on gulets of different shapes and sizes was created with the needs of the passenger in mind, including a bed, wardrobe, separate shower, and toilet.

However, extra comfort amenities like sofa sets, dressers, work desks, and jacuzzis are also available, depending on the size of the rooms and the level of luxury of the boat. There are separate cabins for personnel in the guest cabins.

Gulet Passenger Safety

On gulets, the welfare of the passengers comes first. As a result, each gulet contains numerous fuel and clean water tanks. Additionally, it features a complete set of navigation and safety equipment, including life jackets, fire extinguishers, GSM phones, and VHF radios.

All of these safety precautions and modern technologies prevent any potential emergency and enhance your seaside vacation.

Types of Gulet Charters

Private yacht charter: When you charter a gulet, the entire vessel—along with its crew—is yours for the duration of the rental period. Within the parameters outlined in your rental agreement, you are free to take any route during the rental term.

And you are not restricted to any set timetable; you can plan your vacation however you like. You can purchase our ready-made menu packages and avoid sticking to a typically restricted menu, just as you can shop for your rations.

Renting a private gulet is the perfect choice if you want to spend a luxurious vacation at sea with your family or enjoy the sea and entertainment with close friends.

For a trip you won’t forget and wish to repeat, choose from traditional, classic, luxury, or ultra-luxury yacht charter options to suit your needs and experience.

Cabin rentals : On a shared tour, one or more cabins may be rented. The schedule for the route, lunch times, and meal components remain the same.

The purpose of in-cabin trips, which they typically arrange on classic gulets, is to experience the spirit and joy of the Blue Cruise rather than taking a vacation on a luxury yacht. Let’s say you can’t organize enough groups to rent a private gulet or you go over your budget.

Then, a cabin rental could provide you with a relaxing blue-tour vacation. Renting a cabin will help you make the most of your vacation by allowing you to cruise in style, widen your circle of friends, and meet new acquaintances on the boat.

LUXURY GULET YACHT CHARTER

Where else can you enjoy the peace and quiet of the Blue Sea, which has everything you need to make up for the weariness of the whole year? In the Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean, where there are “Blue Weeks” that never end and warm seas, you can have a great vacation.

Bluetourturkey.com has helped people for a long time. Many of our guests come back every year to see more of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. Maybe you’d like to come back and try something new. Nature gives you a great temperature, a calm sea, a lot of history and culture, and delicious food.

During the day, you can walk between boats along the coast and stop in different bays. At night, you can stay in a very quiet bay where no one else is. You can drink something cold and watch the sun go down. Or, if you want, you can tie up your boat in a busy port and enjoy the holiday mood of the people there.

Places like the blue coast of Turkey, the Greek islands, and the eastern shores of the Adriatic, Croatia, and Montenegro are also options.

For tourists looking for the sun, Turkey is very famous. Regular regional flights to international airports in southwest Turkey have made this place very easy to get to. A lot of people also visit places like Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Gocek, and Antalya during the long summer months. Each of these places is an area that can be part of the boat rental program.

Local tour operators, especially those from other parts of Europe, have a strong interest in the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. The great thing about a gulet rental vacation is that you can visit some of these islands. Rhodes, Symi, and Kos all have ports that are close to the Turkish shore. These are great islands for people who want to see places in both areas. Between the Greek islands in the west and the many Greek islands in the north, you can mix and match a lot of different options.

Let’s say you have to choose between two routes that are very different. In that case, you can get more information about each area by getting in touch with us.

There is always something to keep you engaged on board thanks to the sun deck, Jacuzzi, and water toys.

Culinary Delights

One of the highlights of every opulent gulet cruise is the delicious food that a talented chef has prepared. You can eat traditional Turkish food made with fresh, local ingredients as well as popular dishes from around the world that have been adapted to suit your tastes.

Enjoy al fresco dining with great wines and breathtaking views on the deck or in the magnificent dining room.

Excursions and Activities

There are many options for exploration and adventure on a lavish gulet cruise. See historic sites, go on a hike through luscious forests, or stroll through charming towns.

Take your hand at water sports like paddleboarding, snorkeling, and scuba diving, or just unwind on a remote beach.

Choosing the Right Gulet for Your Turkey Cruise

Size and capacity.

Take your intended passenger count into account when choosing a gulet for your cruise. While larger gulets can accommodate larger parties or special events, smaller gulets are suitable for small gatherings.

Gulet Features

Think about the aspects of a gulet that are most important to you, like the number of cabins, the design, and the amenities. While some gulets feature a more traditional appearance, others feature contemporary features.

Budget Considerations

The price of a luxury gulet charter can vary a lot based on its size, amenities, and level of service. Set a budget and choose a gulet that meets your needs without going overboard.

Booking Your Turkey Gulet Charter

It’s time to reserve your voyage after selecting the ideal gulet. Contact a gulet charter firm with a good reputation and a focus on high-end Turkish gulets.

They can assist you in finding the best deals, organizing your travel plans, and making sure all the details are covered.

Tips for a Memorable Gulet Cruise Experience

When making plans, be flexible and leave room for last-minute changes based on the weather and other things going on in the area.

To ensure a tailored experience, let the crew know your preferences and expectations. Take part in new activities and gastronomic delights while embracing the local culture. Unplug from technology and take in your surroundings’ tranquility and natural beauty. Storage space on gulets can be scarce, so don’t overpack. Comfortable attire, swimsuits, sunscreen, and a hat are necessities.

A luxurious gulet cruise in Turkey is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the beautiful coasts and hidden treasures of the country in comfort and style.

There is a cruise that is ideal for everyone thanks to the diversity of gulet options and itineraries available. Arrange the turkey gulet cruise of your dreams to make lifelong memories.

Sail Turkey: Bodrum to Fethiye (Turkish Gulet)

8 days | explore the southern coast of turkey on a sailing trip.

Sailing boat anchored in a bay in Gocek municipality islands in Turkish Riviera

Set sail for the stunning Turkish Riviera on this eight-day sailing trip from Bodrum to Fethiye. With the perfect combination of sightseeing, hiking, swimming, sunbathing, relaxing and shopping, you’ll be soaking up the sights and sounds in the most famous resort towns in Turkey. Spend your days on the boat, hopping from one beautiful bay to the next, swimming and snorkelling in search of colourful fish and glittering ocean waters. Make stops in Datca, Marmaris, Ekincik and Gocek to see UNESCO World Heritage sites, ancient ruins, incredible peninsula views and secluded beaches, perfect for kicking back and toasting to the perfect yacht adventure.

Trip overview

  • Sail along the Turkish Riviera on a relaxed trip full of swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing, sightseeing and shopping. What more could you want while you cruise along the sparkling Mediterranean?
  • Swim in Cleopatra's Bath – these submerged ruins of an ancient Roman bath are also known as the Sunken Bath, where Cleopatra was said to have frequented with her lover, Marc Antony.
  • Swap the Turkish gullet for a riverboat and cruise the delta to see the ancient Rock Tombs of Kaunos, carved into the cliffs 2500 years ago.
  • Soak in the rejuvenating mud baths of Kaunos, where the warm, sulfur-rich waters will leave you soft, radiant and relaxed.
  • Shop, explore and feast on fresh seafood with your free time in the resort towns of Fethiye, Bodrum, Marmaris, Datca and Gocek.
  • This trip is aboard a traditional Turkish gullet (a traditional wooden Turkish motor sailing boat). All cabins will have ensuite bathrooms and you’ll stay in a mixture of twin share and double bed cabins, all on the same deck. It’s recommended that you pack light, as cabins are cosy.
  • All cabins will experience a light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when you drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
  • A good swimming ability is essential on this trip to enjoy all activities.
  • Many meals are included onboard the boat. Where meals are not included, you’ll have time on land in beachside towns and resort towns for optional meals.
  • Some activities and excursions will involve a bit of walking. You’ll be visiting ancient sites and historical places, and at times you may be walking on uneven ground in hot conditions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your local leader.

Hoş geldin! Welcome to Turkey. Your adventure begins in Bodrum – home to white-washed Mediterranean houses, cobblestone streets and high-end shopping that make this city one of Turkey's best retail destinations. If you arrive early, explore the twin bays at your own pace – boasting views of the iconic Bodrum Castle – a medieval fortress that was partly built with stones from the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – there's plenty to do and see here! At 4 pm, you’ll board your beautiful Turkish gullet (a classic wooden yacht from the southwest coast of Turkey). After a welcome meeting to meet your fellow travellers, you’ll have a briefing on what to expect over the next eight days of living on the boat. Then, sail to Black Island. When you arrive, why not jump into the crystal-clear waters for your first swim of the trip. Have dinner as a group and spend your first night aboard, falling asleep to the gentle rocking of the waves.

Stop for a swim at the beach – this is where the endangered Loggerhead Turtles lay their eggs during nesting season (May to October)! After a dip in the ocean, make your way to the ancient city of Kaunos – this UNESCO World Heritage site is home to ancient Rock Tombs, which were carved into the cliffs 2500 years ago. End the day at the nearby mud baths, where the warm, sulfur-rich water will work wonders on your skin, leaving you soft and rejuvenated. Later, have dinner on board.

  • Ekincik - Beach and Swim Stop

Have breakfast on the board this morning as you cruise to Cleopatra's Bath (also known as Sunken Bath, due to the submerged remains). Your leader will share the stories that surround this place, where Cleopatra was said to have spent time with Marc Antony. Stop for a swim, then set sail to Bedri Rahmi Bay – this place pays homage to Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu, an esteemed Turkish master of literature and art. During a summer cruise in 1973, Bedri Rahmi left his mark by drawing a fish on a rock at the bay's entrance and the iconic Fish Rock still welcomes passengers to the bay today. Swim around the clear waters of the Tersane Islands (also known as the Shipyard Islands) among colourful fish, then head on to Gocek. Disembark and maybe go in search of some delicious traditional cuisine for dinner – your leader will always have the best recommendations!

When you dock, maybe wander through the lively bazaars or relax along the coast. Have a final dinner aboard the boat as the sunsets and toast to an amazing adventure, then why not keep the night going in town and find a few local bars to raise a glass in.

Some Insider Tips

* Early booking is the key option when you plan your blue voyage holidays. You can get really good discounts if you book early in advance, while you may face limited yachts/gulet on the last minute season.

* Last minute bookings can have bigger discounts, but keep in mind that you’ll have less options of the boats.

* If you’ll check for last minute deals, that we recommend you to ask your Charter Agent and take their advice for the Best Value for Price , not the biggest discount.

* Make your own yacht and gulet search from the quality charter agents websites (see below) with pictures, prices and types of the boats, so that you’ll have idea of what you’ll expect.

* Charter Agents will help you find and book the best deals, regarding their many years of experience. So don’t bother asking and searching the yacht & gulets with the agents.

* You can ask anything about your blue cruise plan, even ridiculous questions, and you can be sure that they’ll answer and help you with the best service.

How to Book Your Gulet Holidays?

* First of all, you’ll need to find an authorized and trusted charter agent who offers range of sailing yachts, motor yachts, gulets, catamarans and speedboats with different shapes and sizes and will assist you with every aspect of your gulet charter, from start to finish.

* Blue cruise and gulet holidays are usually booked weekly or 10-day programs.

* You can rent your own gulet or yacht in groups with your family, friends or loved ones. This is called yacht charter or gulet charter .

* If you are alone, couple or with a small number of friends, you can join the blue cruise in between mixed groups, which is called cabin charter .

* You are able to find lots of good charter agents providing gulet holidays. If you are asking our recommendations as insiders, here we only suggest the proven ways and top rated ones with travelers’ comments.

Turkey is one of the most popular and scenic destinations in the world for gulet cruises, and there is a gulet or yacht for every budget and preference.
