Monaco Yacht Show

Created in 1991 by French entrepreneur Maurice Cohen, the MYS displays around one hundred unique and exceptional superyachts constructed by the world’s foremost shipbuilders. Along the docks where these prestigious vessels are moored, visitors will find a host of companies, shipbrokers, and other important yachting industry stakeholders.

The MYS, the Place to Sea

The Monaco Yacht Show is globally renowned for the exceptional quality and impressive size of its superyachts. Of the hundred or so on display every year, around forty are being unveiled for the first time in their worldwide debut. The average length of the vessels is 50 metres, with some mega yachts exceeding 100 metres. In recent years, the MYS has expanded its offering to include the ultra-high end markets intrinsically linked to the exclusive world of superyachting, featuring luxury goods, cars and motorcycles, helicopters, and private jet constructors.

The Show is now an iconic event, popular with private visitors who come to discover the incredible collection of superyachts available to purchase or charter, and to meet market experts in the festive and glamorous atmosphere of the Principality of Monaco.

Not to be missed...

At nightfall, the superyachts come alive in a different atmosphere, offering a spectacular illuminated display of a thousand lights.

The Most Impressive Superyachts at the Monaco Yacht Show

Following a summer of record demand this year’s event was glitzier than ever.

By Irenie Forshaw

Luisine

Each September, thousands of yacht builders, designers and owners descend on Port Hercule for the Monaco Yacht Show. It is here, in the heart of the picturesque Côte d’Azur, that boat lovers make their annual pilgrimage to catch a glimpse of the world’s newest – and most exciting – vessels.

This year, the hotly anticipated event took place between September 28 and October 1. And, following a summer of record demand for superyachts spurred by the pandemic, the 2022 iteration was bigger and glitzier than ever.

With over 600 exhibitors showcasing 125 superyachts, there was no shortage of incredible boats on display. So, whether you’re considering taking the plunge and purchasing a yacht of your own, or you’re simply here to marvel at the latest builds, we’ve rounded up the most impressive vessels on display at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

Project TIME

Project TIME yacht exterior

Kicking off our list of the biggest reveals at the Monaco Yacht Show is Project TIME. The 282-ft explorer yacht concept is the brainchild of German shipbuilder Abeking & Rasmussen and Valentin Design.

Suited for cold and warm water expeditions, the ship has been designed to travel everywhere from Antarctica to the South Pacific Islands. Powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system, Project Time would deliver a maximum speed of 16 knots, with a cruising speed of 14 knots, and a range of 5,000 nautical miles.

Boasting a helipad platform, submarine, two lounges and even an onboard German brewery, this is no ordinary yacht. The extravagant vessel also features an extra wide owner’s duplex suite complete with two marble bathrooms and an expansive balcony.

Dutch shipyard Feadship unveiled its eleventh cutting-edge yacht concept at the show, Slice. Studio de Voogt was brought in for the project, with the ambitious goal of turning “the inside out and the outside in”. To this end, the design team fitted the yacht with a glass strip running from bow to stern, bathing the decks in natural light.

Unlike many yachts that are plagued by gloomy corridors and claustrophobic living spaces, the interiors onboard Slice are bright and breezy. At the heart of the yacht on the main deck is a sprawling 750-sq-ft atrium flanked by cascading circular balconies, which, according to Feadship is so much more than a lobby and instead becomes “a destination in its own right”.

In a sign of Feadship’s dedication to using the latest technology, Slice would be fitted with a propulsion system powered by four dual-fuel generators modified to run on both methanol and non-fossil diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil), with the generated power delivered to two Azimuthing pods.

Luisine yacht with helicopter

Our list of the best superyachts on display at Monaco Yacht Show would not be complete without mentioning Lusine. The 196-ft vessel is Heesen’s largest ever steel Fast Displacement motor yacht and features a sleek silhouette with black thermo-bonded dark glass windows to keep out prying eyes.

Perhaps most impressive of all is the touch-and-go helipad on the sundeck which can accommodate an Airbus H-135. Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design was brought in to mastermind the lavish interiors. Lusine comfortably sleeps twelve set across six spacious staterooms, each of which has been thoughtfully adorned with bespoke furnishings and elegant sculptures. The most exclusive abode is the owner’s apartment located up on the bridge deck which has its own staircase to ensure total privacy.

Come Together

Come Together yacht

Next up on our list is the first vessel in Amel’s new 60 Limited Edition Series. Designed by Espen Oeino International and built in the Netherlands, Come Together was delivered to her owner this Spring for an estimated €69.5m (approx. $68.6m).

The gleaming new superyacht spans 196 ft and features a teak deck, steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Winch Design is responsible for the laid-back yet elegant interiors that are reminiscent of a relaxed family home in shades of walnut and bronze.

Come Together has been fitted with a hybrid propulsion system for smooth, quiet cruising and features an expansive sun deck and 157-ft swim platform.

Winch Design and Heesen also unveiled XV67 at the Monaco Yacht Show – a brand new explorer yacht concept that builds on their XVenture design concept from four years ago.

The 187-ft vessel has been given a refreshed layout and updated with the latest technology. While the robust steel hull remains, she is 32 ft longer than her predecessor and the tenders have been moved to the open aft deck freeing up space for even larger guest cabins and an expansive three-story master stateroom.

As seems to be becoming commonplace onboard the newest superyachts, VX67 boasts a helipad (that functions as an al fresco cinema when not in use) and has space to store a personal submarine on deck.

Meyer took the Monaco Yacht Show as an opportunity to share the very first renderings of its sustainable One50 concept. The vessel – which was first unveiled a year ago at the 2021 show – is powered electrically by 25,000 kilowatts enabling her to reach a maximum speed of 23 knots.

After a year long wait to see what One50 could like, the renderings certainly don’t disappoint. Wellness is at the heart of the design; the 492-ft yacht features a retractable swimming pool, massage parlour, sauna and hammam. Other highlights include the top deck which is reserved entirely for the owner’s use and boasts an enormous suite complete with a private terrace.

Four Seasons Yacht

four seasons yacht rendering

Last but by no means least on our roundup of the most impressive vessels unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show is Four Seasons’ first branded yacht . Slated to set sail at the end of 2025, no expense has been spared by the luxury hotel group, with each suite costing a cool $4.2m to build.

The gigantic vessel will be 679 ft long and 88.6 ft wide with 14 decks and a total of 95 rooms and suites. While the initial launch is just one yacht, the order includes the option to add two further ships in the future – amounting to an eyewatering $1.1bn.

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri will build the Four Seasons yacht in Trieste before Tillberg Design of Sweden and London-based Martin Brudnizki are brought in to put their stamp on the interiors. As you would expect from the luxury hotel brand, the yacht will feature an array of facilities including gourmet restaurants, bars, and a full-service spa.

Monaco Yacht Show

60 superyachts and 300 exhibitors set to attend 2021 Monaco Yacht Show

More than 300 exhibitors and 60 superyachts are set to participate in this year's Monaco Yacht Show, organisers have confirmed.

The 2021 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show is still on track to go ahead this September with a "brand-new format" that will see the event refocussed around superyacht clients, for a less crowded and more exclusive show.

Despite changes to the standard format, European builders such as Benetti, Feadship, Lürssen, Oceanco and Sanlorenzo have all confirmed their attendance, among many other international shipyards, as well as a strong brokerage presence from Burgess, Camper & Nicholsons, Edmiston, Fraser, Imperial Yachts, Moran Yacht & Ship, YPI and Merle Wood & Associates. The full list of exhibitors can be found at monacoyachtshow.com . In the latest statement issued by Informa, general manager of the exhibition Gaëlle Tallarida spoke on issues surrounding health and safety management during this year's Monaco Yacht Show. "We are following the evolution of the pandemic very closely, as well as the sanitary constraints applied in each of our visitors' home countries [...] the Monaco Yacht Show will be following the health measures instated by the principality’s government, as well as the "AllSecure" health security programme, which is mandatory for all Informa Group events."

The new format for the Monaco Yacht Show was announced in February 2021 with a number of changes including a new ticketing system. Those wishing to buy or charter yachts will be given full priority, followed by their teams of designers and superyacht managers. To ensure high quality visitors, organisers also increased the ticket prices to a minimum of €500 a day. “The price will be higher than before to ensure we have the right people at the show,” Tallarida said. “The feedback is that there have been too many people at the yacht show.”

While increasing ticket prices, Tallarida revealed that exhibiting costs were being “reviewed” to “better match the industry’s expectations”. She promised “more stable prices for the coming years for berths and stands” and admitted there is an “understanding” that the Monaco Yacht Show is “an expensive place to exhibit”.

Additionally, a new badge system will be introduced splitting visitors into three categories. Superyacht end users – those who want to buy or charter a yacht – will be assigned VIP “Discover” badges. These visitor passes do not require registration, allowing visitors to remain anonymous, and will be distributed by exhibitors to “the right people”, Tallarida said.

Those with Discover badges will have full access to the four-day yacht show, including exclusive access to the dockside area on the first day of the event. Discover visitors will also enter the show through two new VIP-dedicated entrances fully equipped with waiting lounges.

“The feedback from exhibitors is that the show is very crowded, and the docks are very busy,” Tallarida said. “This will allow VIP visitors a comfortable area where they can sit down and wait for an exhibitor.”

Those supporting VIP superyacht end users, such as designers and yacht managers, will be assigned “Advise” badges, while trade visitors will have “Connect” badges.

The dockside area will be exclusively reserved for Discover and Advise badge holders on the first day of the show, September 22, allowing potential superyacht buyers and charterers private audiences with shipyards, brokers and designers in a quieter environment. The dockside area will be open to all attendees for the rest of the show, which will end on September 25.

Tallarida added that the one-day dockside exclusivity is being “tested” in 2021 but could be extended in the future. The days of the show, which currently runs from a Wednesday to a Saturday, could also be shifted to run from a Tuesday to a Friday in the future, she said.

By Steph Loseby   3 October 2022

After another edition of one of the most prestigious events in the yachting calendar, YachtCharterFleet reflects on all the highlights from this year's remarkable Monaco Yacht Show .

Bringing together a dazzling fleet of over 130 superyachts, 74 of which made their debut in Monaco , and around 600 exhibitors, the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 has been a roaring success.

Alongside a stellar line-up of superyachts, some of the biggest names in the yachting industry attended the glamorous event in Port hercules, including Lurssen , Feadship , Benetti ,  Azimut  and  Gulf Craft .

luxury yachts lined up at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

The Monaco Yacht Show maintains its lofty position as the most prestigious yacht show that annually boasts a fleet of beautiful  luxury charter yachts  and a variety of captivating superyachts for sale. This year, industry players and prospective clients spent four days immersed in the world of yachting, witnessing the latest innovations, technologies and designs.

The show kicked off with spectacular sunshine beaming down over the remarkable fleet and the atmosphere in Monaco was buzzing with excitement as show-goers walked the time-honoured blue carpet.

As the show went on, the weather became windier but despite talks of rain, the weather held off and continued to remain dry and remarkably sunny come Friday and Saturday.

The show creates a buzz of excitement for all the latest superyacht designs, new innovations and technology but most importantly, the luxurious vessels themselves.

Standout Superyachts

With a strong turnout of vessels at this year’s edition, stealing the hearts of many showgoers was, of course, the outstanding 115m (378ft) motor yacht AHPO . As one of the most exciting new yachts at the show and a recent addition to the charter fleet, the Lurssen yacht was eye-catching, unique and extremely luxurious, showcasing her expansive beach club with hydraulic steps that lead you directly into the sea.

On the same dock, freshly delivered this year, Golden Yacht's 88m (289ft) superyacht PROJECT X definitely caused a buzz and soon became one of the most-talked about yachts at the show. YachtCharterFleet stepped onboard to discover her beautiful Massari-designed interiors, as well as her 7.5-meter by 3-meter glass-enclosed swimming pool on her aft main deck and vast beach club which proved to be outstanding.

Sparking a lot of attention was the impressive 75m (247ft) superyacht KENSHÕ , marking her debut onto the charter fleet in 2022, at this year's show, guests took a tender to view her as she was located out at anchor, just off the coast of Monaco. With her sleek profile and eye-catching reverse bow, this superyacht has many stand-out features, from her beautiful waterside beach club to her vast 6-meter glass-fronted swimming pool. Inside, there is a sense of zen-calm Asian-inspired styling designed around the Owner’s love of the ocean.

Some of the team at YachtCharterFleet were lucky enough to step onboard to enjoy a tour around yacht KENSHÕ, among many other yachts in the top tier of luxury design and craftsmanship.

New hubs for 2022

entrance to the adventure area at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

Back at the port, there was plenty to see and the boardwalks were bustling with people. This year's show boasted a seamless new layout that allowed showgoers to witness the brand-new Adventure Area and Sustainability Hub , alongside its popular Design & Innovation Hub and dockside areas committed to the exhibition of superyachts and tenders. From nautical gadgets, all-terrain vehicles and an abundance of luxury tenders, we viewed a wide range of activities and services targeting the upcoming generation of superyacht clientele.

One of the most popular areas at this year's show was the Yacht Design and Innovation Hub, a place where the world’s most renowned yacht designers convened to showcase their latest projects. Various presentations on design and eco-responsible projects in yachting took place in a conference room upstairs which proved to be informative and eye-opening for all. This year, the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub also welcomed the historic exhibitors of the Designer Gallery along the Louis Chiron bend of Port Hercules.

Sapphire Experience

Introduced for the first time last year, the  Sapphire Experience proved to be another successful addition to the show. The experience itself is a bespoke tour program for visitors interested in renting or buying a yacht, with a concierge team dedicated to creating a bespoke program of events tailored to take advantage of all there is to experience at the show in true VIP fashion; including scheduled visits on board yachts, attendance at gala evenings or private cocktails on board various luxury vessels. We also spotted an official Sapphire tender and courtesy car service that provided seamless transport around the show.

In addition, there were also dedicated VIP entrances and lounges for convenience and relaxation throughout the show.

Standout concepts announced at the show

The stands were livelier than ever this year, with a number of top shipyards grabbing the opportunity to reveal their new concepts at the show.

Feadship reveals 85m concept SLICE

The Dutch shipyard Feadship revealed a revolutionary 85m superyacht concept at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, named SLICE. With the vessel’s initial concept coming from design Studio de Voogt, Slice is designed to “turn the inside out and the outside in”, according to the studio’s lead designer, Chris Bottoms and Head of Design, Tanno Weeda.

The yacht tackles one of the biggest owner grievances in yacht design: long hallways, dark interiors and stacked living spaces. The design incorporates a long glass strip from bow to stern which allows natural light to flow through her multiple decks with the aim to reinvent yacht corridors as enjoyable spaces in their own right.

Abeking & Rasmussen presents 86m explorer concept TIME

During the show, the German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen  teamed up with Swiss design studio Valentin Design Sur Mesure to present their 86-meter explorer concept TIME.

Described as "one-of-a-kind", explorer yacht TIME is a seven-deck explorer powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system to venture in both cold and warm water. Designed by Valentin Weigand, the yacht is defined by an inverted bow and is home to multiple features that make her stand out from the crowd. From her extra wide duplex Owner's suite to her submarine and observatory deck, TIME will allow guests to make the most out of every moment spent on board.

U-Boat Worx unveils 37.5m underwater superyacht Nautilus

Another memorable concept unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show was the 37.5-meter underwater superyacht model, NAUTILUS, a diesel-electric yacht that can function as both an on-water vessel as well as a submarine. Revealed by Dutch submersible specialist U-Boat Worx, NAUTILUS combines the usual trappings of superyacht life with the unique ability to dive down to 200m (650ft) depths.

on-water, submarine concept revealed

A particularly fascinating design, NAUTILUS is able to stay underwater for days at a time, with a surface cruise speed of nine knots and an underwater speed of four knots. What happens when the model is not in use? Well, it can be docked at any quay that can accommodate its 6.5-meter draft.

Fuelled by a number of exciting changes, the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 was an exhilarating success for all involved, with a number of industry insiders confirming this year's show overall felt a lot more relaxed with fewer crowds and easier access, with a new buyer focus. With over 30,000 guests and prospective buyers persuing Port Hercules over the four days, admiring the yachting industry in all of its splendor, the show remains the industry's leading premier yacht show.
