The Nomad name suggests an explorer design, but this 101-footer is more of a fast-ish cruiser that can cover long distances. With twin 1,550 hp MAN V12 diesels, the vessel has a top end of 19 knots, but dialed back to eight knots, its range extends to 3,000 nautical miles.

Inside, the 101 offers exceptional interior volume. At 195 gross tons (a measure of enclosed interior space) the Nomad dwarves many competitors. The Sunseeker 100 has a gross tonnage of 125, for example, while the Ocean Alexander 28E (92 feet) is 163GT. High-volume yachts that work within a 100-foot hull have become a fast-growing trend across the superyacht world. Owners want the extra interior space but not the extra length it would typically take to get there.

Gulf Craft’s in-house team collaborated with U.K.-based Wolstenholme Yacht Design for the naval architecture. Wolstenholme has done previous work with such ultra-luxe boat brands as Cockwell and Duchy, so understood the need for a seaworthy hull that could offer up interior volume.

Socializing extends to the flybridge, which has an aft sundeck that can fit about 20 people as well as a forward enclosed area that becomes a second salon. Measuring 172 square feet, the skybridge at the top of the vessel will likely be a prime place for alfresco entertaining. The Nomad 101 sleeps 10 guests in five staterooms, with quarters for a crew of six.

Since it’s designed as a long-distance cruiser, Gulf Craft made sure that the captain’s areas were unusually generous. They includes both an enclosed pilothouse and an exterior helm for navigation, as well as a pilothouse office. Of course, with the long-range adventures this yacht was designed for, it seems likely that a captain will have their hands full with much more than paperwork.

The Nomad 101 was launched at the 2023 Dubai International Boat Show and has quickly become one of the most sought-after vessels for mariners who enjoy long, leisurely cruises. With a 5-cabin layout plus 3 crew accommodations, massive flybridge, LOA of 97 ft 8 in (29.77 m), and 130 GT, the Nomad 101 is the perfect yacht for a wide range of cruising grounds and scenarios.

The yacht's spacious shaded social exterior spaces, sunbathing areas, dining spaces, and panoramic views on all decks allow ample sunlight to cascade into the interior. Gulf Craft debuts 30m Nomad 101 in Dubai

UAE-based shipyard Gulf Craft has added a flagship to its Nomad range with the 29.7-metre Nomad 101. The new superyacht made its debut at the Dubai International Boat Show, alongside the 34-metre Majesty 111 .

The model was described as a “surprise” new addition to the line by Gulf Craft managing director Abeer AlShaali. “We had been planning for her to come to the show, but she’s a surprise to the market,” explained AlShaali. The market has already received her well, according to Alshaali, with one unit already sold to a dealer. Meanwhile, the first unit will be based in Australia. 

The Nomad line focuses on long-range cruising and durability, but the 101 aims to offer an upgrade to the finishes and materials used on board. Blonde woods, marble surfaces and cream fabrics contribute to a “breezy” ambience. There is also an increased focus on sustainability, with AlShaali pointing to the mock-pineapple leather and the recycled fishing nets used in the carpet.

The Nomad 101 offers 130GT with a five-cabin layout, including a main deck owner’s suite connected to a foredeck lounge space. The remaining four cabins can be found on the lower deck, where there is also an open-plan laundry area which is operated by crew and owners — a feature that Gulf Craft considers essential for long-range voyages.

Elsewhere, the yacht has a full-walkaround upper deck with 35 square metres of exterior space and 16 square metres of interior space. Forward of the wheelhouse is a small seating area, while aft there is seating and dining. A flybridge offers an alternative spot to unwind and relax, and there is further deck space for storing two three-seater Jet Skis and a Williams 325 tender.

The Nomad 101 has a range of 1,030 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots and offers “minimum fuel consumption for her size”, according to the yard. “The usage of space on board coupled with how she moves in the water is probably the best part,” said Alshaali. “If you can be lighter and more efficient but still fast, it’s a difficult balance to achieve but I feel we have achieved that. We’re really happy with how she turned out.”
