Launched early August, the 60m/170ft monohull sailing yacht SEVEN is the third sailing yacht of its length from Perini Navi, following S/Y SEAHAWK and renowned regatta winner S/Y PERSUEUS^3. As well as an aluminium hull, luxury yacht SEVEN also has two aluminium Panamax masts and carbon fibre rigging that can hold 2,000m² of sail.

Naval architect Ron Holland worked in conjunction with Perini Navi to fulfil the owner's requirements and create a modified design that diverges from the previous 60m sailing yachts from the yard. The interiors were designed by Dante O. Benini & Partners and it is the studio's first collaboration with the Perini Navi shipyard.

Credited with a combination of technical brilliance and first class design, Perini Navi has always been in a class of its own. Seven measures 60.00 metres in length and has a beam of 11.40 feet.

Seven has an aluminium hull with an aluminium superstructure.

Seven also features naval architecture by Ron Holland Design.

Perini Navi Seven hits the water

Visiting a superyacht with an owner onboard is a rare experience. Seeing one who just took delivery of his new baby is a singular event. When several writers stepped aboard the new 197-foot Seven by Perini Navi at the Monaco Yacht Show, the shipyard rep shooed us through the main saloon, where owner Ennio Doris was talking excitedly in Italian into his cell phone, thrilled with his new yacht. He was actually beaming.

Doris had good reason. Seven was one of the largest sailing superyachts at the Monaco show and the third launch in Perini’s 60-meter series behind Seahawk and Perseus 3 , all with naval architecture by Ron Holland. The ketch-rig yacht is designed for racing and long-distance cruising with a main mast height of 207 feet from the keel to the top, and a total sail area of more than 21,520 square feet. It’s hard to imagine that kind of sail acreage, and the amount of power the sails generate under full load. While racing, the yacht heels over by as much as 30 degrees. While cruising the sideways slope is a gentler 15 degrees. What is even more impressive is that, instead of a large crew hoisting and lowering sails, most of the hard work is automated, done by pushing buttons on the all-glass helm screens and maneuvering joysticks. Belowdecks, hydraulic drums the size of life rafts furl and trim sails much faster than any crew could. Technically, Seven is one of the most advanced sailing superyachts ever built.

Seven is also a beautiful cruising yacht. The interior by Dante O. Benini & Partners Architects is subtle and elegant, defined by light-colored sycamore woodwork and Armani Casa decor. With six staterooms, including two master suites, the owner will be able to accommodate his seven grandchildren (hence, the yacht’s name) and their families on his yacht. Seven has excellent headroom and natural light throughout. Several teak dining tables in the cockpit beneath the flybridge allow for outside gatherings and alfresco, family-style meals. “With this new yacht, our family can all sail together, a passion that unites us and brings us together often,” says Doris.

Perini Navi – Seven

The sea trial was pubblished in Superyacht 61 – Spring 2019

This third of the 60 metre sailing yachts is ketch rigged and built for Italian banker Ennio Doris. The yacht is among the most advanced in terms of technology deployed and thanks to the owner’s choices in conjunction with his family this yacht has already become an Italian model of elegance.

Any yachtsman will wonder at how many crew must be needed to handle thousands of square metres of canvass and to sail her effectively. Well if the yacht in question is a Perini the answer may well be surprising. And if we’re talking about Perini’s “Seven” the response will leave you bewildered. The point in fact is that this 60 metre ketch delivered several months ago to Ennio Doris – already former owner of “Principessa Vaivia” – is a treasure trove sporting loads of technologic marvels to make sailing easy , as easy as on a small sloop.

sailing yacht seven

Taking a closer look, we realize that the winches stand out of the chorus line, since on Seven they’re three speed but they gear up or down accordingly in an automatic way which means the skipper can make necessary adjustments in a matter of seconds with stunning precision by choosing between the most performing and the softest modes: “comfort”, in addition to which there’s also “silent” mode which works directly off the batteries . In fact, Seven may well be taking part in the next Perini Cup competition ( the seventh edition of the Perini Cup was held last September during which 21 superyachts took part). We’re talking about cutting edge technology in every Perini sailing yacht; after all Fabio Perini founder of this historic yard was just 17 when he began to collect patents which revolutionised industrial production in several sectors. Back in the early eighties the first sailing superyacht which could be handled and manoeuvred in every phase directly from the cockpit soon after Perini’s inception was thanks to Fabio Perini.

To optimize range on Seven, there’s a special device which reduces drastically the energy needed to work the winches electrically, in terms of kilowatts from 22 to just 11. This winning attitude and fighting spirit in a quest for near perfection, has since led to optimize sail gear on deck further which when completed brought about a saving of as many as two tons which resulted in enhanced displacement, a lower barycentre (by 25 cms) which limits the necessity to extend the keel’s blade as much as before to limit the angle of heel and be compliant to the requisites imposed by MCA certification.

But “Seven” is not only about avant-garde technology. This third 60 metre after Seahawk and Perseus 3, is fruit of harmonious team work involving the yard’s design department managed by Franco Romani, and Ron Holland’s design studio which contributed with hull and waterlines and with Dante Benini who was specially requested by the owner to handle the architecture of the interiors. The aesthetics are so unmistakable the yacht can be recognised as a Perini from miles away: the silhouette sports flowing lines and an almost imperceptible flare and the blue hull sits low on the water, and the coachroof rises only slightly on deck. The current set of sails adds an elegant touch as the mizzen sail and mast rise up only slightly below the main.

Once on board if it weren’t for the typical gear on deck which has been meticulously installed away from transit lines and if it weren’t for the sails and masts you could easily forget you are on a sailing yacht since the clutter free considerable deck space is so very similar to a motor yacht’s of about the same size. In the majority of cases sailing yachts’ bow areas host crew quarters, but not on board of Seven where we come to an amazing lounge forward which according to Lamberto Tacoli President and CEO at Perini Navi is one of the owner’s preferred spots, also because from there he can see at a glance what his seven grandchildren are up to and that inspired him to name the yacht Seven. As our tour of the yacht continues Lamberto Taccoli comments that in spite of her size Seven’s layout is essentially devised to host a family, albeit for a fortnight only for that is the maximum summer holiday period the Italian banker Ennio Doris manages to take and loves to spend it with his family on board. Given the circumstances it is no coincidence that the owner’s wife Lina and Massimo their son contributed precious input on which the architect could work in developing the project.

At this point pertinent pictures speak for themselves more than words can in expressing how shared spaces and private areas blend harmoniously with dedicated refined taste while being definitely practical. Proof of this concept is Videoworks’s inspiringly smart lighting system installed on board. In a nutshell a complex Italian work of art, which proudly flies a large Italian ensign aft on her elegant sloping stern.

'We pulled our children out of school to sail to Africa on a yacht'

Daniel Monk and his family had almost no sailing experience when they decided to embark on their 10,000 mile journey - but felt the adventure would do them all good

A couple pulled their children out of school to travel to Africa on a yacht - with barely any prior sailing experience. Daniel Monk, 41, and his wife Bow, 36, and their children Amelia, 13, and Olivia, seven, sailed from Falmouth to Cape Verde in a 45-foot yacht they named Pancakes.

The dad-of-two had always dreamt of sailing the world after battling a 13-year drug and alcohol addiction and said it was "a dream come true" to do it with his family. The family sailed from Madeira to Tenerife and down to Cape Verde - despite limited experience on a boat that size.

Daniel, the owner of Cask World, from Truro, Cornwall, said: "It was just always a dream to buy a boat and sail the world. We believe in being out there. If we're connecting with nature that's more valuable than some Gucci.

"We thought 'how can we allow the kids to have a childhood without being influenced by external factors?' It was a dream come true. As a family I'm over the moon the children got to experience that."

A family sailing on their yacht

Daniel's addiction started aged 16. He said: "I just started partying. It turned out I was allergic to alcohol. I would take drugs and just lose control. I was still functioning so it was very easy to say I didn't have a problem.

"My addiction was more binging. When I started getting to age 23, 24 and 25 that's when I realised mornings were difficult. It took me to a dark place."

He was still in the depths of his addiction when he met Bow in Bangkok in 2010 but a year later checked himself into rehab. It took Daniel three years to maintain consistent sobriety and after checking out of Clouds House, Shaftesbury, in 2014 he and Bow tied the knot.

Daniel said: "We're so lucky to be able to survive addiction. Get help because I was there. There was no hope but thanks to the support of the 12 step communities around the world I was then lucky to go after that dream."

A woman washing her child's hair on a yacht

Daniel grew with his dad, who was a captain, and used to go out on various dinghies. He had always dreamt of sailing the world. After years of looking for boats, Daniel finally purchased a Rustler Yacht in 2021 after meeting Dan Stroud - who had spent three years sailing on a similar boat.

They wanted to show their daughters, who live in Chiang Mai, Thailand with Bow, that you don't need to know everything and can still try and work it out. The family have always been big on nature and adventure - and the couple don't let their kids have iPads so they can focus on what is around them.

Amelia Monk said: "I hiked to Mount Everest base camp when I was eight. Last year I hiked to Kilimanjaro."

But the family had no sailing experience and spent time in Mylor, Cornwall, with Dan and were even invited to Sir Robin Knox-Johnson’s house for tea as a send-off. Daniel set off in December 2023 and sailed from Plymouth to Lisbon - where his family then joined him. From there they travelled to Madeira, Tenerife, to Cape Verde and then cross the Atlantic to Barbados. But the trip came with its challenges. with Bow struggling with extreme sea sickness initially.

Daniel said: "Bow was violently sea sick. It was challenging. I was exhausted and it was relentless. But something magical happened - the girls took care of us."

Bow added: "I couldn't eat. I felt guilty. After about five to six days I'm okay."

The family also made incredible memories including seeing dolphins and whales, snorkelling, racing in a regatta in Antigua and meeting other travellers along the way. Despite the small proximities of the boat they always pulled together - even when they bickered.

Amelia said: "It was stressful and annoying. Because anything could go wrong on the boat we had to work together even though we were mad."

Bow added: "It was quite tough for us. We had to work together as a team." The family also had some scary times, such as fearing orcas would attack their boat after constant warnings and Bow and Amelia getting stuck on an island overnight.

Daniel and Bow were originally hesitant that the long trip might affect Amelia and Olivia's education but say they have "bounced back" at school. Daniel said: "Before we left we had a big fear - are we affecting the children? But the children just bounced back."

Bow said they've learned a lot along the way and "grown up" by seeing places such as Montserrat island and learning about the history. Bow said: "It gave them good experience and to be confident. I think they learned a lot from this."

Daniel sailed the boat back to the UK and returned in August 2024 after a 10,000 mile trip - while the girls returned to Thailand. The family are now selling Pancakes but are so glad they took the leap and are always looking for the next adventure.

They hope to inspire others to go for their dreams and very thankful to all the people helped them along the way. Daniel said: "I'd rather I had my last day trying to do something like that than be safe at home. Aim for the stars and hit the moon. Go big."

Video shows moments before superyacht went down in storm off Sicily

A celebration turned into tragedy for a british tycoon when the storm sank the vessel off sicily. six people remain missing., by henry austin and corky siemaszko | nbc news • published august 21, 2024 • updated on august 21, 2024 at 4:08 pm.

Newly released video captures a luxury superyacht being battered by a violent storm before it suddenly sank off Sicily with 22 people aboard  Monday.

The grainy images obtained by NBC News and other outlets were recorded on closed-circuit television not far from where the Bayesian was anchored,  about a half-mile from the port of Porticello, on Sicily’s northern coast .

The yacht's 250-foot mast, illuminated with lights and lashed by the storm, appears to bend to one side before it finally disappears and is replaced by darkness.

The speed with which a yacht built to handle the roughest seas capsized stunned maritime experts.

“I can’t remember the last time I read about a vessel going down quickly like that, you know, completely capsizing and going down that quickly, a vessel of that nature, a yacht of that size,” said Stephen Richter  of SAR Marine Consulting.

British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and five of the 22 other people who were aboard the 184-foot vessel remain unaccounted for and are believed to be trapped in the Bayesian’s hull, nearly 170 feet underwater.

Officials confirmed Monday that at least one person, the ship’s cook, had died.

Missing revealed as divers search superyacht that sank in storm off Sicily

British tech magnate Mike Lynch, 2 US citizens among missing after luxury yacht sinks off Sicily

Superyachts like the Bayesian, which had been available for charters at a rate of $215,000 a week, are designed to stay afloat even as they are taking on water to give the people aboard a chance to escape, Richter said.

“Boats of this size, they’re taking passengers on an excursion or a holiday,” Richter said. “They are not going to put them in situations where it may be dangerous or it may be uncomfortable, so this storm that popped up was obviously an anomaly. These vessels that carry passengers, they’re typically very well-maintained, very well-appointed.”

Built by Italian shipbuilder Perini Navi in 2008, the U.K.-registered Bayesian could carry 12 guests and a crew of up to 10, according to online specialist yacht sites. Its nearly 250-foot mast is the tallest aluminum sailing mast in the world,  according to  CharterWorld Luxury Yacht Charters.

On Tuesday, Italian rescue workers  resumed the search for Lynch  and the five other passengers still missing: Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah; Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife; and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife.

“The fear is that the bodies got trapped inside the vessel,” Salvatore Cocina, the head of civil protection in Sicily, told Reuters .

The Bayesian is owned by a firm linked to Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, who was one of the 15 people rescued Monday after it capsized.

“It’s extremely rare for a boat of this size to sink,” Richter said.

What’s not rare is the kind of storm that sank it , said Simon Boxall, senior lecturer in oceanography at Britain’s University of Southampton.

“People assume the Mediterranean is this rather calm and passive place that never gets storms and always blue skies,” Boxall said. “In fact, you get some quite horrendous storms that are not uncommon at this time of year.”

The president of Italy’s meteorological society has said Monday’s violent storm may have involved a waterspout, essentially a tornado over water, or a downburst, which occurs more frequently but doesn’t involve the rotation of the air.

Luca Mercalli, president of the Italian Meteorology Society, also said recent temperatures may have been a factor.

“The sea surface temperature around Sicily was around 30 degrees Celsius [86 Fahrenheit], which is almost 3 degrees more than normal,” Mercalli told Reuters. “This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms.”

The Mediterranean sailing vacation was designed to be a celebration for Lynch, who two months ago was  acquitted by a San Francisco jury of fraud charges  stemming from the 2011 sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion.

Prosecutors alleged that Lynch, dubbed “Britain’s Bill Gates,” and Autonomy’s vice president for finance, Stephen Chamberlain, had padded the firm’s finances ahead of the sale. Lynch’s lawyers argued that HP was so eager to acquire Autonomy that it failed to  adequately check the books .

Lynch had taken Morvill, who was one of his defense attorneys, on the luxury trip.

Chamberlain was not on the Bayesian.

In what appears to be a tragic coincidence, a  car struck and killed Chamberlain on Saturday as he was jogging in a village about 68 miles north of London, local police said.

“Steve fought successfully to clear his good name at trial earlier this year, and his good name now lives on through his wonderful family,” Chamberlain’s lawyer, Gary Lincenberg, said in a statement .

Henry Austin reported from London and Corky Siemaszko from New York City.

Couple pull children out of school for eight-month sailing trip

The family on their epic sailing trip

A couple pulled their children out of school to take them on an eight-month sailing trip around the world.

Daniel Monk, 41, his wife Bow, 36, and their children Amelia, 13, and Olivia, seven, sailed from Falmouth, Cornwall to Barbados in the Caribbean – via Cape Verde in Africa – on a 45-foot yacht.

The family had no relevant sailing experience but Daniel and Bow had long had the dream of travelling the world on a boat and were determined to make it happen.

Daniel, who comes from Cornwall , said they wanted to give their daughters a alternative education for a while, where the children could really focus on the world around them, and not be distracted by ‘external factors’, such as screens.

After years of looking he bought a Rustler Yacht in 2021 and named it Pancakes.

Then the family, who currently live in Thailand, spent some time before the trip in Mylor, Cornwall building their yachting skills under the tutelage of sailor Dan Stroud.

They even got the chance to have tea with the first man ever to sail around the world non stop solo, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.

Olivia at the wheel of the yacht

In December last year, Daniel set off from Plymouth to Lisbon in Portugal – where his family joined him.

From there they travelled to Madeira, Tenerife, to Cape Verde and then across the Atlantic to Barbados.

Daniel described the 10,000 mile trip as a ‘dream come true’, with the family making lots of fantastic memories on the way.

These included seeing dolphins and whales, snorkelling, meeting other travellers and racing in a regatta in Antigua.

Amelia at the wheel

The epic voyage, of course, wasn’t without its challenges, such as Bow initially experiencing extreme sea sickness and Daniel struggling with exhaustion at times.

‘But something magical happened – the girls took care of us,’ he explained.

Amelia, meanwhile, acknowledged it could be ‘stressful and annoying’ living together in such a small space for several months, but added: ‘Because anything could go wrong on the boat we had to work together even though we were mad.’

Bow said the trip had been a great experience and a confidence booster for her daughters, adding: ‘I think they learned a lot from this.’

Dan, pictured with Olivia

Daniel and Bow did worry the long trip might negatively impact the girls’ education but say they have ‘bounced back’ at school.

They are now selling their yacht but are glad they took the leap and hope others will be inspired to follow their own dreams.

Daniel, who battled drug addiction before having children, said: ‘I’d rather I had my last day trying to do something like that than be safe at home.

‘Aim for the stars and hit the moon. Go big.’

Every spacious suite aboard Seabourn’s fleet of seven well-appointed ships is oceanfront. During your stay, you can enjoy complimentary fine wine and premium spirits and dining at a number of world-class restaurants. The moment you step on board, you’ll be greeted with chilled welcome Champagne and your personal Suite Host welcoming you with a warm smile – just a few of many touches that speak to Seabourn’s attention to detail and personalized service for their valued guests.

And, when you book a Seabourn voyage through American Express Travel®, Platinum Card® Members can get additional benefits on eligible cruise bookings of five nights or longer with the Cruise Privileges Program .* Receive $300 onboard credit per suite to use toward spa experiences, premium dining, and excursions. Plus, enjoy Suite Dreams turn-down service once per cruise, and one bottle of premium wine delivered to your suite once per cruise. In addition, you can earn 2X Membership Rewards® points on eligible bookings, which you can put toward your next adventure using Pay with Points.*

Seabourn’s ocean and expedition adventures span all seven continents, with stops in 450 ports that comprise both prime destinations and lesser known, tucked away gems that many larger ships can’t access. From Antarctica to Japan, every itinerary is designed to awe. You’ll embark on excursions curated to your passions – choose from a collection of explorations that include cultural, culinary, wellness, and adventurous activities.

Inspired to sail in style with Seabourn? We’ve highlighted just three exciting itineraries to get you started.

Alaska Fjords and Canadian Inside Passage

sailing yacht seven

Best for: Whale watching, breathtaking scenery, wildlife encounters

Departing from Juneau, your first stop on your seven-day voyage aboard Seabourn Odyssey is the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness , a 653,179-acre Alaskan nature preserve marked by dramatic scenery that includes glaciers, forests, and two stunning fjords. Designated as a wilderness area in 1980, the preserve is rife with wildlife. You’re likely to spot both brown and black bears, wolves, deer, mountain goats, and seals.

As you sail to your next destination, keep your eyes out for even more wildlife – you’ll journey through the Stephens Passage, a 105-mile channel between craggy peaks that is known for its whale- and sea lion-watching. While you cruise to your next destination, you can take full advantage of the many onboard amenities, from the top-notch fitness center to the observation bar, which offers seascape views. Take a dip in the top deck pool or partake in some at-sea enrichment at the Discover Center, which hosts natural history and cultural programming.

A notable stop is Rudyerd Bay, carved out by glaciers within the Misty Fjords National Monument . Card Members booking with the Cruise Privileges Program can use their $300 onboard credit toward a Ventures by Seabourn. Their Kayak Misty Fjords venture is an opportunity to take in the towering granite cliffs, dark forests, and lush vegetation that blankets the coastline as you cruise through the pristine waters. Wildlife is abundant here too, with bald eagles, porpoises, humpback whales, and orcas among the many animals that call the fjords home.

Your journey concludes in Vancouver, after passing through channels and bays known for their abundant wildlife and a stop at Cormorant Island. Visit U'mista Cultural Centre, Canada's longest-running First Nations museum, or explore Cormorant by kayak as you glide past seals and shorebirds.

Celtic Sea and Portugal’s Silver Coast

sailing yacht seven

Best for: Architecture, cultural immersion, art

Embark on a 14-day European adventure that departs from Dover, England and takes you through ports in France, Spain, Ireland, and more.

Cruise aboard Seabourn Ovation through the emerald waters of the Celtic Sea, whose salt is known for its healing properties, rivaling Himalayan sea salt. Dock in the picturesque French fishing town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz , where you can tour a centuries-old church, stroll the coastal path of Sentier du Littoral , and dine at one of the many charming waterfront restaurants in the promenade.

A stop in the Irish port of Bantry Bay offers the opportunity to tour the green countryside of West Cork by car, stopping in some of the small, lively towns for a pint. Or visit the Bantry House and Garden , a sprawling estate dating back to around 1710 where you can stroll through lush gardens and experience a formal tea service.

Tour the vineyards in the coastal French village of Le Verdon-sur-Mer, where you can sample the Bordeaux wines the region is known for. When you dock in the northern Spanish city of Bilbao , admire contemporary art at the famed Guggenheim Museum – and indulge in an authentic meal of local tapas.

Your voyage ends in Lisbon, where more cultural and culinary delights await.

Turkey’s Turquoise Coast and Greek Isles

sailing yacht seven

Best for: Pristine beaches, ancient ruins, crystal clear waters

The Turquoise Coast – also known as the Turkish Riviera – is marked by spectacular beaches and crystal clear, cerulean waters. Your seven-day voyage aboard Seabourn Encore begins in Athens , where you’ll set sail for the island of Cyprus . You’ll dock in Limassol , where you can explore archaeological sites dating back to 7,000 B.C. and indulge in fine Mediterranean wines – the seaside city is a wine-making hub and is home to numerous pastoral vineyards.

The Turkish coastal city of Antalya notably combines temperate weather and beaches with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Wander through ancient Roman ruins; explore a 13th-century Seljuk mosque; pick up keepsakes by local artisans in the bustling bazaars; and grab a bite to eat at one of the quaint cafes that line the winding streets of the Old Quarter.

You’ll also stop at the Greek islands of  Crete and Milos , both of which have plenty of appeal and comparatively fewer crowds than Mykonos. Milos was formed by volcanic eruptions and is known today for its beaches and vibrant fishing villages.

The Mediterranean voyage concludes back in Athens, where you can tour even more ancient wonders like the Acropolis and the Parthenon, as well as the Athens National Garden.

These three itineraries are just a taste of the many offerings in Seabourn’s diverse portfolio—and there’s more to come. In spring 2025, Seabourn will debut The Collection , a series of even more finely curated sailings that feature access to exclusive shoreside events and experiences. Add some spice to your excursion with Andalusian Nights: Spotlight On Seville , a 10-day voyage between Barcelona and Lisbon that stops in Seville for an evening of fine dining and flamenco at Villa Luisa, an estate dating back to the 1920s with beautifully manicured gardens. Oenophiles might opt for Vineyard Vistas: An Evening In Bordeaux , an eight-day sail between Lisbon and Dublin with a stop in Bordeaux for an exclusive wine dinner at the opulent Château Smith Haut Lafitte. From sought-after seats at tennis matches to private dinners at vineyard chateaus, every itinerary in The Collection is set to provide a truly singular experience at sea and onshore.

$200 Hotel Credit:  Basic Card Members on U.S. Consumer Platinum Card Account are eligible to receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year when they or Additional Platinum Card Members use their Cards to pay for eligible prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection bookings made through American Express Travel (meaning through  amextravel.com , the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card) or when Companion Platinum Card Members on such Platinum Card Accounts pay for eligible prepaid bookings for The Hotel Collection made through American Express Travel (meaning through  amextravel.com , the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card). Purchases by both the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on the Card Account are eligible for statement credits. However, the total amount of statement credits for eligible purchases will not exceed $200 per calendar year, per Card Account. Fine Hotels + Resorts® program bookings may be made only by eligible U.S. Consumer Basic Platinum and Additional Platinum Card Members. The Hotel Collection bookings may be made by eligible U.S. Consumer Basic and Additional Platinum Card Members and Companion Platinum Card Members on the Platinum Card Account. Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Card Members are not eligible for the benefit. To receive the statement credits, an eligible Card Member must make a new booking using their eligible Card through American Express Travel on or after July 1st, 2021, that is prepaid (referred to as "Pay Now" on  amextravel.com  and the Amex App), for a qualifying stay at an available, participating Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection property. Bookings of The Hotel Collection require a minimum stay of two consecutive nights. Eligible bookings must be processed before December 31st, 11:59PM Central Time, each calendar year to be eligible for statement credits within that year. Eligible bookings do not include interest charges, cancellation fees, property fees or other similar fees, or any charges by a property to you (whether for your booking, your stay or otherwise).

Statement credits are typically received within a few days, however it may take 90 days after an eligible prepaid hotel booking is charged to the Card Account. American Express relies on the merchant’s processing of transactions to determine the transaction date. The transaction date may differ from the date you made the purchase if, for example, there is a delay in the merchant submitting the transaction to us or if the merchant uses another date as the transaction date. This means that in some cases your purchase may not earn the statement credit benefit for the benefit period in which you made the purchase. For example, if an eligible purchase is made on December 31st but the merchant processes the transaction such that it is identified to us as occurring on January 1st, then the statement credit available in the next calendar year will be applied. Statement credits may not be received or may be reversed if the booking is cancelled or modified. If the Card Account is cancelled or past due, it may not qualify to receive a statement credit. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as eligible, you will not receive the statement credits. For example, your transaction will not be eligible if it is a booking: (i) made with a property not included in the Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection programs, (ii) not made through American Express Travel, or (iii) not made with an eligible Card. Participating properties and their availability are subject to change. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide and may reverse any statement credits provided to you. If a charge for an eligible purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Card Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead, the statement credit may be applied to your Pay In Full balance. Please refer to  AmericanExpress.com/FHR  and  AmericanExpress.com/HC  for more information about Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection, respectively.

5X Membership Rewards ®  Points Platinum Card:  Basic Card Members will get 1 Membership Rewards ®  point for each dollar charged for eligible purchases on their Platinum Card ®  or an Additional Card on their Account and 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar charged for eligible travel purchases on any Card on the Account (“Additional Points”), minus cancellations and credits. Eligible travel purchases are limited to: (i) purchases of air tickets on scheduled flights, of up to $500,000 in charges per calendar year, booked directly with passenger airlines or through American Express Travel (by calling 1-800-525-3355 or through AmexTravel.com); (ii) purchases of prepaid hotel reservations booked through American Express Travel; and (iii) purchases of prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com. Eligible travel purchases do not include: charter flights, private jet flights, flights that are part of tours, cruises, or travel packages (other than prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com), ticketing or similar service fees, ticket cancellation or change fees, property fees or similar fees, hotel group reservations or events, interest charges, or purchases of cash equivalents. Eligible prepaid hotel bookings or prepaid flight+hotel bookings that are modified directly with the hotel will not be eligible for Additional Points.

Bonuses that may be received with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express cannot be combined with this benefit. Any portion of a charge that the Basic Card Member elects to cover through redemption of Membership Rewards points is not eligible to receive points. Additional terms and restrictions apply.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for Additional Points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn Additional Points if the merchant’s code is not included in an Additional Points category. Basic Card Members may not receive Additional Points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an Additional Points category. For example, you may not receive Additional Points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services, a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers), or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit in any way American Express may remove access to this benefit from the Account. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card or visit americanexpress.com/rewards-info for more information about rewards.

5X Membership Rewards Points on Flights and Prepaid Hotels Booked at AmexTravel.com:  You will get one point for each dollar charged for an eligible purchase on your Business Platinum Card ®  from American Express. You will get 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar spent on eligible travel purchases. Eligible travel purchases include scheduled flights and prepaid flight and hotel packages made online at AmexTravel.com, minus returns and other credits. Additionally, eligible travel purchases include prepaid hotel purchases made through American Express Travel, over the phone with our Travel Consultants or made online at AmexTravel.com, minus returns and other credits. Eligible travel purchases do NOT include non-prepaid hotel bookings, scheduled flights and prepaid flight and hotel packages over the phone, vacation packages, car rentals, cruise, hotel group reservations or events, ticketing service, cancellation or other fees, interest charges, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. To be eligible for the 5x Membership Rewards ®  points, you must both reserve and charge the travel purchase with the same eligible Business Platinum Card ® . To modify a reservation you must cancel and rebook your reservation. You can cancel and rebook your reservation on AmexTravel.com or by calling a representative of AmexTravel.com at 1-800-297-2977. Cancellations are subject to hotel cancellation penalty policies. If hotel reservations are made or modified directly with the hotel provider, the reservation will not be eligible for this 5X Membership Rewards ®  point benefit. To be eligible to receive extra points, Card account(s) must not be cancelled or past due at the time of extra points fulfillment. If booking is cancelled, the extra points will be deducted from the Membership Rewards account. Extra points will be credited to the Membership Rewards account approximately 6-10 weeks after eligible purchases appear on the billing statement. Additional point bonuses you may receive with your Card on other purchase categories from American Express may not be combined with this benefit (e.g., 1.5X and 2X bonuses for Business Platinum Card Members, etc.). Purchases eligible for multiple additional point bonuses will only receive the highest eligible bonus. The benefits associated with the Additional Card(s) you choose may be different than the benefits associated with your basic Card. To learn about the benefits associated with Additional Card(s) you choose, please call the number on the back of your Card.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for additional points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn additional points if the merchant’s code is not included in an additional points category. You may not receive additional points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an additional points category. For example, you may not receive additional points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

Please visit  americanexpress.com/rewards-info  for more information about rewards.

Pay with Points:  To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards ®  program-enrolled American Express ®  Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding dollar amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used. If points redeemed do not cover entire amount, the balance of purchase price will remain on the American Express Card account. Minimum redemption 5,000 points.

See  membershiprewards.com/terms  for the Membership Rewards program terms and conditions.

If a charge for a purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Linked Account the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead the statement credit may be applied to your Pay in Full balance. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us by calling the number on the back of your Card. Corporate Card Members are not eligible for Pay Over Time.

Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards ®  program apply. Visit  membershiprewards.com/terms  for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice.
