Description

Located in a Foreign Trade Zone at Bradford Marine Fort Lauderdale, FL.

CASTLEFINN is a 146’ (44.68m) yacht, built by yacht builder Heesen and delivered in 2011 and refit in 2023. This vessel sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 staterooms and has accommodations for 9 crew in 5 cabins.

Characteristics

CASTLEFINN was built by the famous Heesen Dutch shipyard under ABS Class rules in 2010 and delivered in 2011. The exterior of this 45-meter (146’) aluminum vessel with its sleek hull lines and multi-sized windows is elegant and recognizable as another masterwork from Heesen.

On the initiative of the present owner, all interiors were refitted to look more luxurious, yet comfortable. The keynote of this new design is the combination of white and autumn colors, as well as contrasting different textures and materials. The yacht was designed to accommodate 10 guests in 5 spacious cabins, each with an ensuite bath. Four guest cabins (two of them - VIPs) are situated on the lower deck. There is an additional optional stateroom in the sky lounge with a hidden queen-size drop-down murphy bed which makes it possible to have 12 guests aboard. The full beam owner area is on the main deck and includes a master cabin, master study, an ensuite bathroom with his and hers partitions, and a wardrobe closet big enough for extended cruising.

Just aft of the owner\'s stateroom is the main salon and dining room integrated with an aft lounge, a magnificent semicircular seating area with a panoramic view that has access to the aft deck. (For a complete sequential view of all the features and accommodations of CASTLEFINN please review the walk-through video link on this listing. The sundeck features an entertainment bar animated by a sound system with all the amenities found in a galley.

The Jacuzzi and lounging area are aft on the sundeck. On the lowest deck is a garage for storing a tender and water toys which can easily be modified as a beach club for an owner who would rather tow a tender. Additionally, in the garage area, there is an engineer\'s cabin with an ensuite bath. The 45m Heesen is extremely spacious (just below 500 GT) and is a leader among other yachts in this class.

Powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines, this semi-displacement superyacht has a cruising speed of 20 knots with a top speed of 23 knots which is an excellent speed for a 146-foot yacht. At an economical speed of 12 knots with zero-speed stabilizers she has the range of a full displacement yacht (3500 nm). CASTLEFINN has the best of both worlds, speed, and range.

In 2021-2024 over $4 million dollars was spent to modernize and improve the electronics, mechanical equipment, and interior décor. The current owner went through the entire yacht and fixed or renewed all systems aboard to have years of trouble-free boating.

More recently, in 2023 the vessel went through a detailed ABS special survey to complete the classification society requirements. With this most recent yard period overseen by ABS inspectors, Castlefinn will truly be turn-key ready to hand over to her new owner, including a complete bottom job.

How Much Do Superyachts Cost?

who owns castlefinn yacht

When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.

These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.

So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.

The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.

Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.

Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.

The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.

Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.

While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.

The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.

Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.

Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.

From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.

In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.

While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.

No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.

Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye

When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.

For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.

Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.

In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.

This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.

Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.

For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.

Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.

These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.

Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.

Final Thoughts

Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.

From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.

With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.

Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

Description

Motor Yacht CASTLEFINN is a 146’ (44.68m) yacht for sale, built and launched by yacht builder Heesen and delivered in 2011 and refit in 2022. This vessel sleeps up to 12 guests in 5 staterooms and has accommodations for 9 crew in 5 cabins.

CASTLEFINN has never been chartered so very little wear and tear; the yacht is in perfect condition. The yacht was designed to accommodate 10 guests in 5 spacious cabins, each with an ensuite bath. Four guest cabins (two of them – VIPs) are situated on the lower deck.

Just aft of the owner’s stateroom is the main salon and dining room integrated with an aft lounge, a magnificent semicircular seating area with a panoramic view that has access to the aft deck. (For a complete sequential view of all the features and accommodations of CASTLEFINN please review the walk-through video link on this listing. The sundeck features an entertainment bar animated by a $100,000 sound system with all the amenities found in a galley including a dumb waiter useful to replenish food and drinks from the galley deck without disturbing the guests.

The Jacuzzi and lounging area are aft on the sundeck. On the lowest deck is a garage for storing a tender and water toys which can easily be modified as a beach club for an owner who would rather tow a tender. Additionally, in the garage area, there is an engineer’s cabin with an ensuite bath.

In 2021-2022 over 2 million dollars was spent to modernize and improve the electronics, mechanical equipment, and interior décor. The current owner went through the entire yacht and fixed or renewed all systems aboard to have years of trouble-free boating. The owner will consider a trade with a late model 120-125’ yacht.

10 of the most impressive superyachts owned by billionaires

10 of the most impressive superyachts owned by billionaires

From a sailing yacht owned by a russian billionaire industrialist to the luxury launch of the patek philippe ceo, here are the best billionaire-owned boats on the water….

Words: Jonathan Wells

There’s something about billionaires and big boats . Whether they’re superyachts or megayachts, men with money love to splash out on these sizeable sea-going giants. And that all began in 1954 — with the big dreams of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.

Onassis, keen to keep his luxury lifestyle afloat when at sea, bought Canadian anti-submarine frigate HMCS Stormont after World War II. He spent millions turning it into an opulent super yacht, named it after his daughter — and the Christina O kicked off a trend among tycoons. To this day, the world’s richest men remain locked in an arms race to build the biggest, fastest, most impressive superyacht of all. Here are 10 of our favourites…

Eclipse, owned by Roman Abramovich

Las Vegas billionaire has 2 megayachts docked in Maine at once

by Troy R. Bennett, Bangor Daily News

People take in the sights overlooking Portland Harbor on Wednesday Sept. 4. Below them, four superyachts sit tied up at Fore Points Marina. From left are the Lonian, the M&EM, the Hodor and the Sapphire. (Troy R. Bennett / BDN)

PORTLAND, Maine ( BDN ) -- The billionaire owner of a megayacht visiting the Portland Harbor this week is so rich he brought along a second megayacht just to house all his expensive toys.

The second vessel, the 217-foot Hodor, was purposely designed to trail the 285-foot Lonian. The Hodor is likely hauling a crew of 20, five smaller boats, an array of jet skis, and a set of four-wheelers for use on land, according to the website Superyacht Fan. The Hodor can reportedly also accommodate a 6-ton helicopter, though none was spotted Wednesday morning.

  • Also read: Gigayacht spotted in Portland Harbor attracts attention

Both boats, now at Fore Points Marina, are owned by Las Vegas casino tycoon and former Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Lorenzo Fertitta.

A private, motor-driven pleasure boat longer than 24 meters — or about 80 feet — is usually called a superyacht. But larger vessels over 60 meters — or 196 feet, like Fertitta’s boats — are known as megayachts

Superyacht Fan estimates the Hodor cost $30 million when it was new in 2019 and now costs between $3 million and $5 million to operate and maintain every year. But that astronomical price is a bargain compared to its mothership, the Lonian. The website reckons it was purchased for $160 million in 2018 and costs upwards of $15 million annually.

Fertitta’s pair of ultra-expensive vessels aren’t the only megayachts in town.

Parked at the next slip over is the Cayman Islands-flagged, 242-foot M&EM, which can accommodate 12 guests in six cabins, along with a crew of 19, according to Amels Yachts, the Dutch company which built it in 2022. The M&EM can cruise at 16.5 knots and has a range of about 5,000 nautical miles.

It isn’t clear who owns the M&EM, but according to Vesselfinder, it arrived in Portland on Sept. 1 after being spotted in Portugal on Aug 25.

Also at Fore Points is the relatively small, 166-foot superyacht Sapphire, built in 2009. According to big-boat broker Denison Yachting, the Sapphire had an extensive retrofit in 2019 and can sleep up to 20 guests in seven staterooms. It’s for sale with an asking price of $15 million.

Heesen motor yacht Sea Axis sold

The 38.1 metre Heesen motor yacht Sea Axis has been sold in an in-house deal at Denison Yachting with the seller represented by Kurt Bosshardt and the buyer introduced by Justin Onofrietti.

Designed by Frank Mulder and built in aluminium by Dutch yard Heesen Yachts to ABS class, Sea Axis was delivered in 1987 with a thorough refit in 2011. Accommodation is for 12 guests in five cabins consisting of a master suite, two doubles and two twins plus two Pullman berths and all cabins have full en suite facilities.

Deck spaces are expansive and welcoming, including a large aft deck sheltered by the overhang of the deck above and equipped with a U-shaped built-in seating area surrounding a custom table. Up on the sun deck there are sunbathing areas, sun pads and a spa pool, creating the perfect area for al fresco entertaining and dining.

Twin 1,250hp Deutz engines give her a range of 3,000 nautical miles at her cruising speed of 12 knots.

Her two-year $10 million refit, completed in 2011, was supervised by the original designer, Frank Mulder, and included a main aft deck extension and euro-transom, an expanded skylounge, bridge and sun deck extensions and reconfiguration of all exterior areas. In addition, all mechanical systems were renewed or replaced. Her engines (new in 2002) were rebuilt, a new air conditioning system installed plus a new waste treatment system, updated stabilisers and new running gear. In addition, a further refit was carried out in 2018.

Sea Axis was asking $5,900,000.

Sailing yachts like Mike Lynch's are 'unsinkable bodies', CEO of boat manufacturing firm says

Bayesian superyacht which sank off Italy is an "unsinkable" vessel, Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, said.

Vessels like Mike Lynch's stricken superyacht are "unsinkable", according to the chief executive of the firm which makes and sells them.

Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, told Sky News there are no flaws with the design and construction of the Bayesian superyacht which capsized in a storm off the coast of Porticello, Sicily, on Monday.

Five bodies were found by divers on Wednesday - taking the number of confirmed dead to six.

The Italian Sea Group also owns the firm that built British tech tycoon Mr Lynch's Bayesian, and Mr Costantino said the vessels "are the safest in the most absolute sense".

News of the sinking left CEO of The Italian Sea Group Giovanni Costantino in ‘sadness on the one hand and disbelief on the other’.

"Being the manufacturer of Perini [boats], I know very well how the boats have always been designed and built," he said.

"And as Perini is a sailing ship... sailing ships are renowned to be the safest ever."

He said their structure and keel made them "unsinkable bodies".

"This incident sounds like an unbelievable story, both technically and as a fact," he said.

It is understood Italian prosecutors investigating the incident are continuing to hold interviews with the survivors.

On Tuesday they questioned the captain for more than two hours to help reconstruct what happened and provide useful technical details.

Four British inspectors are also in Porticello and have begun a preliminary assessment of events.

It is understood they will look at all relevant aspects of the incident, including the design, stability, and operation of the vessel. They will also examine the effects of the weather conditions experienced.
