On the fifth season of the hit TV show Below Deck Mediterranean , the luxury yacht featured was the biggest boat in the series’ history. 1 Captain Sandy Yawn and her crew sailed charter clients around the Spanish resort town of Mallorca in The Wellington yacht. Don’t worry, there won’t be any reality TV cameras on board! Our team at Yacht Management South Florida Inc. provide a look at this vessel, as well as many other insights on our yacht maintenance blog , to let our current and future clients have a better idea of what's going on in the industry.
M/Y THE WELLESLEY Details

Below Deck Mediterranean: Inside The Wellington superyacht now for sale
The Wellesley , star of charter TV show Below Deck Mediterranean , has now been listed for sale by TWW with an asking price of €14,500,000. We take a look inside the 56.2 metre superyacht that starred in season five.
The yacht, which was renamed The Wellington for the hit yacht-based US reality show, is owned by the property magnate and hotelier behind London's luxury art deco London hotel The Wellesley.
Built by Oceanco in 1993, The Wellesley is a modern charter yacht that features extended deck spaces and Donald Starkey -penned interiors that replicate the grandeur of the eponymous Knightsbridge hotel.
Every detail on board is connected with the hotel, from the 1920s styling and linen in the six guest cabins to the Arabescato Corchia marble and Hermès amenities in the bathrooms.
The owner's passion for cigars is also evident on board thanks to a bespoke humidor housing a selection of fine cigars, which guests can enjoy in the club lounge or on the connecting outdoor smoking deck.
Designed by Gerhard Gilgenast , The Wellelsey underwent a complete refit in 2016 and accommodates a total of 12 guests in five cabins.

The wellington yacht from below deck.
THE WELLINGTON truly named THE WELLESLEY, was the star of the TV show Below Deck Mediterranean. While she was always for charter, she was recently listed for sale by TWW Yachts with an original asking price of €14,500,000. Let’s take a look at the yacht that starred in the fifth season of the hit TV show.
Delivered to her original owner in 1993, the superyacht was the very first Oceanco superyacht to hit the water. She was transformed under the watchful eyes of TWW and the owner’s team in 2015 at Sunrise Yachts. She was extended to see a beach club being fitted on the aft and now features Donald Starkey-penned interiors that mirror the eponymous London hotel.
Every detail on board the superyacht is connected to the hotel, from the 1920’s styling to the Arabescato Corchia marble, the Hermes amenities and the Churchill lounge. The owner’s passion for cigars is evident in the upper salon, which features a bespoke humidor housing an exclusive selection of cigars.
The yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in 5 luxurious staterooms, with the master suite being housed on the upper deck. The sundeck is dedicated to exterior living with an astonishing on deck spa facing forward.
She is currently available for sale & charter with David Westwood .

Welcome to the Most Expensive Yacht in 'Below Deck' History
Updated June 5 2020, 1:07 p.m. ET
Below Deck Mediterranean returns to Bravo for its fifth season which undoubtedly will have all the drama and mayhem viewers have come to expect and love from the show. This season, Captain Sandy and her crew are manning the biggest and most luxurious boat the show has ever seen.
To drum up excitement for the new season, Bravo recently released a personalized virtual tour of the yacht , led by Captain Sandy and new bosun, Malia White. The superyacht, which measures a staggering 56.2 meters, left audiences stunned.
Featuring sumptuous interiors, state-of-the-art deck toys, and even a waterfall-equipped jacuzzi, The Wellington has already captured the imaginations of fans before the new season has even aired. But what wasn’t included in the tour was exactly how much it costs to charter a vessel as grand as The Wellington.
Keep scrolling to find out everything you need to know about how much it costs to get on a Below Deck Mediterranean yacht.
How much does it cost to charter The Wellington?
The Wellington, originally named The Wellesley, is the largest yacht ever featured on any of the Below Deck franchises. It's also the largest Captain Sandy has ever been at the helm of.
The yacht is listed on Charter World for a cool €220,000 (around $243,000) per week, comes fully staffed, and is able to accommodate up to 12 guests.
If you’re thinking that’s a number within reach, keep in mind that the price unfortunately doesn’t include expenses like food and drinks, fuel costs, docking fees, and taxes.
The Wellington boasts a 1920s theme and luxe interiors that include a club lounge and a bespoke humidor, complete with a selection of cigars and top-shelf whiskeys. Massive bedrooms are accompanied by walk-in closets and each bathroom is made with a different type of marble.
This yacht also has a VIP room that includes panoramic windows and a skylight that allows guests to sleep under a view of the stars.
While the luxuries of The Wellington certainly don’t come cheap in real life, charter guests that appear on the show do enjoy a bit of a discount to charter the yacht.
Guests usually pay around half of the listed price for a three-day charter, which includes being pampered and having their every whim indulged by the ready-to-please crew.
The most expensive yacht on 'Below Deck' history also means bigger tips than we've seen before.
As it’s been pointed out by Below Deck creator Mark Cronin , despite getting the discount, charter guests are still paying out of their own pocket to be on the show. Guests also are responsible for the cash tip that they customarily leave for the crew at the end of every charter, but they can decide what that tip will be based on their experience onboard the yacht.
Gratuity is usually 15 to 30 percent of the non-discounted rate for chartering a yacht like this, which for The Wellington works out to around €33,000 to €66,000 ($36,537 to $73,146). After a total of 12 seasons of the Below Deck franchise, a tip of this amount is absolutely unheard of.
But on a boat where the bedsheets cost €2,000 ($2,200) a pop, you get what you pay for.
Season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean premieres Monday, June 1 at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

The Truth About Johnny Damon's Below Deck Med Charter
Below Deck Mediterranean , the addictive reality show on Bravo that follows the guests and crew aboard a super yacht, is riddled with drama this season. A love affair between Rob Westergaard and Jess More is threatening the dynamics on the boat; and chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier was suddenly let go for having unregistered drugs on board. Oh, and soon after season five began airing, deckhand Pete Hunziker was fired by Bravo for posting racially insensitive content on his social media. In other words, there's lots of heavy stuff happening below deck.
So, when former Major League Baseball player Johnny Damon, his wife Michelle, and their friends boarded mega-yacht The Wellington for episodes 14 and 15 of the show, we were all ready for a little levity — and they did not disappoint. The Damons and their friends still brought plenty of drama, but let's put it this way: The most controversial moments during their charter involved cold food and a fight about Spanx . This is the kind of lovable nonsense we are here for.
Johnny Damon was particular about his food on Below Deck Med
Fans will recall Damon and his wife are veterans of Below Deck Med ; they appeared on season four of the show, where Damon famously sent back chef Anastasia's food and claimed the experience was less than "five stars" (via Bravo ). Meanwhile, Johnny's wife Michelle got into a yelling match with the owner of a neighboring yacht in the Saint Tropez marina (via Decider ). According to Sport Illustrated , Johnny Damon, who has also appeared on Celebrity Apprentice , Tanked , MTV Cribs, and Dancing with the Stars , first found out about Below Deck from Michelle's business partner and decided it would be fun to participate in a charter. Despite Johnny's mild disappointment in the food and in the experience overall, the Damons reportedly still had a great time and were ready to return for round two.
This season, the boat picked the Damons and their friends up in Ibiza and Johnny was mostly pleased with Chef Tom's food throughout their stay, according to Vulture . He did send scallops back at dinner for not being hot enough and requested to have his filet cooked more thoroughly (via Vulture ), but these minor hiccups did not interfere with the $18,000 tip Damon left for the crew. Still, things did get heated one evening and an argument ensued that was both amazing and cringeworthy, even for reality TV.
Johnny Damon's wife showed some skin on Below Deck Med
Following one meal aboard The Wellington , charter guest Shanna made an accusation about friend Michelle Damon that probably shouldn't have been said while cameras were rolling. According to Bravo , the guests were in the middle of post-dinner fun when Shanna professed, "Michelle has Spanx on." Upon hearing this, Michelle promptly lifted up her dress, showed off her rear end, and delivered a profanity-laced rant insisting she was not wearing Spanx. Shaking her bare booty, Michelle added, "Clearly, clearly I don't need a Spanx. Duh!" Thankfully, Michelle was wearing thong underwear, but viewers and her fellow guests still got an eyeful.
Later, after her husband talked to Shanna in their cabin and explained that it's not a compliment to say someone is wearing Spanx, she apologized to Michelle and they made up. Throughout this whole scene, Johnny walked happily around the boat with a can of beer in each hand, seeming interested yet completely unbothered. The show's executive producer, Nadine Rajabi, said, "What I love about [The Damons], they're very gracious people, but they're also very unapologetic, and they are who they are." Before disembarking, Johnny Damon was kind enough to indulge the crew by hitting a few biodegradable baseballs into the sea (via Bravo ). The former member of the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox actually only managed to connect with one out of three pitches, but who's counting? We're just here for the entertainment.

Who are the Below Deck Med Season 5 cast members?
Bravo just released the trailer for Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5, revealing some new and old cast members. The hit Bravo yachting show is back for another thrilling, drama-filled, and entertaining season.
Season 5 will take place on The Wellington — a 184-foot mega-yacht — which is the largest one to date featured in the Below Deck franchise. The crew will be tooling around the island of Mallorca, Spain, to make sure that guests have the best charter experience ever.
Captain Sandy Yawn
The lady at the helm of The Wellington needs no introduction. Captain Sandy Yawn is returning for her fourth season with the show. Fans know she has over three decades of yachting experience under her belt – and knowing all of her departments is a priority number one for the captain.
Captain Sandy likes to keep the mood with the crew light, often telling jokes. She is not a pushover, though. The captain is not afraid to crack down when the crew is getting out of control. This season is no exception, either, based on the trailer footage .
Hannah Ferrier
Chief stew, Hannah Ferrier, has been with Below Deck Mediterranean since Season 1. She is solely focused on running an impeccable interior. Hannah is goal-oriented with an incredible work ethic and thick skin that are necessary when dealing with demanding charter guests.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hannah Ferrier (@hannahferrier234)
She has a way of managing her department while still being the life of the party. Hannah is also known for finding herself in the middle of the drama. Chef Adam Glick from Below Deck Sailing Yacht is one person Hannah had issues with previously. Who will be become her nemesis this season?
Malia White
Malia White is also a Below Deck Med veteran , but she is bosun this year, leading an all-male deck crew. Viewers know Malia as part of the heartbreaking love triangle featuring, Adam and Wes Walton that went down in Season 2
She is ready to jump in and take on her new leadership role, after working hard to earn her new position. Malia is not shy about speaking her mind or standing up for herself. It will be interesting for fans to see how she deals with male subordinates who don’t respect her authority.
Hindrigo ‘Kiko’ Lorran
Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran is new to the show but has over ten years’ experience traveling the world and honing his cooking skills. Kiko is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, which has helped him become a renowned chef and yachtie.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hindrigo Lorran (KiKo) (@hindrigolorran)
He released The Surfer’s Cookbook in 2016, combining his love of surfing and being at sea with cooking. Kiko refers to himself as a “rustic chef” who loves spontaneity and variety. Will some of his creative dishes be too much for the fancy charger guests?
Lara Flumiani
Lara Flumiani is the second stew on the luxury yacht and she fell into the industry by accident. She credits her eye for detail for giving her an edge in the interior department. Laura speaks her mind – especially when other crew members are failing at their jobs.
Laura is a hot-head, and it will get her in trouble this season on the hit Bravo show. Laura is not scared of confrontation, which has helped and hurt her during her ten years in the yachting world.
Jessica More
Jessica More is one of two new stews under Hannah this season. She has had a slew of jobs over the years, including serving drinks in Las Vegas and working in music in Los Angeles. Jessica’s love of surfing and the sea helped her choose yachting.
The Florida native has a laid-back demeanor. She can handle a lot of drama unless she feels disrespected. Jessica is ready to handle any challenge that presents itself. The third stew is open to finding romance on The Wellington if the right person comes along.
Pete Hunziker
Pete Hunziker is the lead deckhand under Malia. He fell in love with yachting as a teenager, thanks to befriending a retired U.S. Navy SEAL. Pete is a licensed U.S. Coast Guard whose life took a turn at age 19 when he became a father.
Shortly after the birth of his son, Pete became sick and was in a coma for weeks. When he woke up, he was determined to be a good father and have a career in yachting. His nickname is “Party Pete,” because, on his days off, he is either at a beach party or a pool party.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jessica More | Wander Woman (@jessicamore180)
Robert Westergaard
Robert Westergaard is a former model who has worked for fashion houses all over the world. After the death of his mother, Robert turned to the sea to help him heal. His love of travel and mechanics helped him to find his way into yachting .
Although he only has a few charters behind him, he is no Parker McCown when it comes to respecting the hierarchy. Robert thinks most boat crew issues arise from lack of communication. The deckhand considers himself trustworthy, dependable, and honest.
Alex Radcliffe
Alex Radcliffe was introduced to yachting thanks to a friend who worked in the industry. He fell in love with the gorgeous destinations and adventurous lifestyle. Alex is a quick learner who hopes to one day become a captain .
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Alex Radcliffe (@alexradcliffe)
The deckhand takes pride in his work, but his stubborn ways can often cause problems. Alex plays just as hard as he works. Friends consider him the life of the party and a shameless flirt. Perhaps Alex and Jessica will embark on a flirty boatmance.

The largest yacht in the show's history, the 10th and 11th seasons of Below Deck are set around the Caribbean islands of St Lucia and Grenada onboard the luxurious 60m (197ft) superyacht ST DAVID . Delivered in 2008 by Italian shipyard Benetti, the yacht has an impressive sleek, supercar-inspired profile that instantly turns heads.
Onboard highlights include her well-appointed sundeck with sunloungers and sunpads where guests can kick back and relax, a spa pool and her al fresco cinema screen set up for unforgettable movie nights.
One of the yacht's most distinctive features is her sophisticated spiral staircase that leads through all three decks and is lit by a skylight in the spa pool of the sun deck. The yacht is very versatile for a variety of charter party configurations, with room for 12 guests across six elegantly appointed cabins.
STARSHIP (aka MY SEANNA)
Making an appearance on seasons 9, 8 and 6 of Below Deck , the majestic motor yacht STARSHIP (known on the show as MY SEANNA) is a yacht charter favorite.
The yacht has traveled far and wide for the show cruising to the jaw-droppingly beautiful St Kitts and Nevis in season 9, the sun-kissed Caribbean in season 8 and the South Pacific islands of Tahiti in season 6.
Known for being among one of the most opulent yachts on the charter market due to her ornate interiors and glossy fittings that have been brushed in 22-carat gold, it is safe to say that this yacht is one of the most opulently styled and extensively equipped yachts on the water. Refitted in 2021, the Delta Marine yacht can accommodate 12 guests across 6 cabins and is extremely versatile for a variety of yacht charter party configurations.
VALOR (aka BG)
Appearing three times on the hit show, the 47m (153ft) charter yacht BG (known on the show as VALOR) featured in seasons 7, 5 and 4 of Below Deck , taking charter guests to a variety of sun-kissed and beautiful locations. The yacht's real name is BG, and she was built in 1990 by the world's most revered shipbuilder Feadship . Since then, she has undergone many interiors refreshes to keep her in tip-top condition.
The yacht traveled around Thailand in Season 7 where the crew and viewers were treated to a truly memorable South East Asian experience. From the iconic Phi Phi Islands to the beautiful beaches of Ko Yao Yai, there were plenty of fascinating landmarks to see on the way. Season 5 took viewers to the tranquil cruising grounds of Saint Martin whilst season 4 saw M/Y BG in the glistening waters of the Virgin Islands .
Accomodating 12 guests across 6 cabins, she is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

She is equipped with an array of luxurious amenities including an eight-person sundeck Jacuzzi, barbecue and yacht-wide sound system. She also boasts timeless interior styling with intricate wood panelling and a neutral colour palette which helps create an inviting atmosphere for those on board.
The yacht was sold in November 2013 - just before filming for season 3 began - for an asking price of $17.9 million.
OHANA (aka STAR DIAMOND)
Premiering in August 2014, season 2 of Below Deck returned with 13 episodes documenting life on board the slightly smaller superyacht STAR DIAMOND in the British Virgin Islands . Among many other features, the yacht is equipped with a large sundeck, outdoor bar and luxury accommodation for 10 guests.
After filming the series, M/Y STAR DIAMOND was sold for an asking price of $10.9 million and is now on the charter market with a charter rate of $160,000/week. Extensively refit in 2022, the work on the superyacht has included a complete interior refresh, the yacht now features light, modern styling - an engine rebuild and a cabin conversion.
HONOR (aka BARENTS )
The first season of Below Deck premiered on 1 July 2013 after being announced in April 2012. Chartering around the Caribbean , the starring superyacht was named HONOR for the show but chartered under the name CUOR DI LEONE which translates to ‘Lion Heart’ in Italian. She now goes by the name BARENTS .
Built by Italian shipyard Benetti in 1999 and refit in 2021, the famous vessel has undergone a complete makeover, bringing her up to modern standards. She can accommodate up to 12 charter guests and features luxury amenities for guests to enjoy including state-of-the-art TVs and a sundeck Jacuzzi.
Following the show, superyacht BARENTS was sold for around $15 million and her new owner commissioned a major refit. A great deal of money was spent on updating her interior with a classic-modern style of design as well as on brand-new exterior furniture and entertainment systems.
Below Deck: Mediterranean
Following on from the success of Below Deck , the spin-off Below Deck: Mediterranean premiered in May 2016. While the original series takes place during the winter charter season when the Caribbean is at its peak, Below Deck: Mediterranean is filmed during the summer charter season.
Season one of Below Deck: Mediterranean saw Captain Mark Howard at the helm, but the baton was passed to Captain Sandy Yawn from two onwards. Chief Stewardess Hannah Ferrier was another permanent fixture on the show from season one to five, before leaving the show in season six.
As its name suggests, the show is based in the Mediterranean , the world’s most popular yachting hub from May to October. Despite the change in location, the same format and accompanying on-water antics from the crew and guests alike can be expected. Set in Malta , a destination never seen before on the show, the series followed the crew over an eight-week charter season onboard the 49m (160ft) superyacht HOME .
Accommodating up to 12 guests across 6 beautifully decorated staterooms, this yacht is described as a home away from home, the perfect platform for guests to soak up the sunshine, kick back and relax. From her convivial sundeck setup replete with a Jacuzzi and glowing cocktail bar to her panoramic sky lounge and state-of-the-art water toys, this yacht certainly had the wow factor that was required for Below Deck: Mediterranean .
LADY MICHELLE (renamed NEXT CHAPTER)
Season 6 of Below Deck: Mediterranean premiered in June 2021 and saw a new vessel, motor yacht LADY MICHELLE , since re-named NEXT CHAPTER, take center stage. It also saw the return of Captain Sandy and Bosun Malia, plus a brand new crew.
A floating paradise that turns heads on the water, this heavenly Benetti vessel comfortably accommodates 12 guests across 6 sumptuous staterooms, with additional capacity for up to 12 crew members. She also boasts an open-air cinema, a split-level owner's suite and an impressive array of water toys.
This season takes the crew to one of the most idyllic cruising grounds in the East Mediterranean : Croatia . Abounding with serene golden beaches, crystalline waters and gorgeous coves to explore, it's one of the most popular yacht charter destinations.
THE WELLINGTON (aka THE WELLESLEY)
Season 5 of Below Deck: Mediterranean premiered in the summer of 2020. The show was shot on board the motor yacht THE WELLESLEY , and the superyacht was given the alias THE WELLINGTON over the course of filming.
The yacht has an elegant 1920's theme, with a chic club lounge complete with a bespoke humidor. She features plenty of marble accents and ample alfresco deck areas, as well as a jacuzzi with innovative spill pool features.
The yachties set course for Spain for this season, cruising around the azure waters of the Balearic Islands . The homeport was Port Adriano on the island of Mallorca .
Featuring in both Season 4 and Season 2 of Below Deck: Mediterranean , superyacht SIROCCO is a yacht charter sensation. An elegant and sophisticated Heesen -built motor yacht, she features plenty of alfresco sunning areas and an 8-person jacuzzi pool; the perfect spot for the charter guests to unwind after a long day exploring.
Season 4 took the crew to one of the most iconic destinations in the Mediterranean ; the South of France . Between the luxury yachting hub of Monaco to the beautiful beaches in St Tropez , this season promises lashings of glitz and glamour. During Season 2 of Below Deck: Mediterranean , M/Y SIROCCO cruised the picturesque waters of Croatia .
TALISMAN MAITON
Premiering in 2018, season 3 of Below Deck: Mediterranean saw familiar and new faces head to the sublime cruising grounds of Italy. This time, the crew treated their discerning guests to a world of luxury on board the 54m/178ft motor yacht TALISMAN MAITON .
Built in 2006 and refit to an exacting standard in 2016, the yacht boasts a range of exciting features that make her particularly appropriate for the waters of the Amalfi Coast . Indeed, her entertainment options range from a stunning selection of water toys to a sundeck Jacuzzi and a refreshingly modern interior.
IONIAN PRINCESS
Premiering on 3 May 2016, the very first season of Below Deck: Mediterranean , a spin-off of the increasingly popular franchise, took to viewers' screens. This time the ‘yachties’ took care of their guests onboard the motor yacht IONIAN PRINCESS in the Mediterranean destination of Greece .
The starring yacht IONIAN PRINCESS was delivered from Christensen in 2005 and was later refit in 2016 and again in 2021. Truly opulent, she bears interiors that are sleekly finished with a range of warmly toned woods and plenty of comfortable furnishings. She also boasts one of the largest sundecks for a yacht of her size.
Below Deck: Mediterranean Season 1 yacht IONIAN PRINCESS is not currently available for private yacht charter vacations.
Below Deck: Sailing Yacht
This is the first time the Below Deck franchise branched away from gleaming motor yachts, with the various weather issues that sailing yachts have to contend with adding even more drama and excitement.
The design of luxury sailing yachts also creates far more confined crew areas than we are used to seeing on the original Below Deck . In general, sailing yachts tend to feature smaller galleys, compact stew stations and cramped crew quarters which are in closer proximity to the guests’ living areas, putting crew under increased pressure to deliver their signature silver service.
In addition, deck crew are placed in a far more demanding role, with sailing yachts requiring increased accuracy and precision to safely maneuver and plenty of deck duties taking place in the midst of guest areas.

‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Features Mega-Yacht, ‘The Wellington,’ Complete With Insanely Pricey Sheets
Ahead of the show’s season premiere, Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean gave a tour of what guests would expect from the new yacht, The Wellington. Bravo highlighted the various amenities available on the large vessel.
The yacht, based in Mallorca, Spain, was just over 184 feet long. It’s the longest vessel Sandy had ever captained and more massive than any other boat featured on Below Deck .
The main saloon features blue and cream-colored couches and mahogany furniture, creating a serene but cozy vibe. The fixtures were made of gold and added a regal touch.
Through the saloon, guests could enter the Cigar Room. The wood-paneled room has a large humidor and full leather seating.
“They spared no expense,” Captain Sandy said in the video when she discussed the extensive collection of cigars and whiskeys that filled the room.
The vast master suite features inlaid leather in the walls and mahogany wood and was decorated with a 1920s theme. Unique to the suite was a proper dressing area with large “his” and “her” closets. One sheet from the bed reportedly cost 2,000 euros.
Besides the extensive living quarters, the area for the captain was also pretty decadent. The helm comes with multiple screens, an emergency backup steering wheel, as well as a separate spot, “The Wing Station” to assist the captain when she attempts to dock. This allows the captain to view where she would be parking the mega-yacht from that space.
It’s likely that people wouldn’t want to merely stay inside during their stay on The Wellington. Many would probably plan to spend their time enjoying the beautiful vistas of Spain or out on the water. This ship has several water toys to keep their guests entertained. There are several jet skis, SEABOBS, a jellyfish pool, water slides, a jet surfer, and even a trampoline. The deck also has a complete workout area with weights, yoga mats, and jump ropes.
For those that choose not to be active, the sundeck offers plenty to do. The entire back of the boat includes cushions, creating a massive space to comfortably lie out and enjoy the sun. Even the hot tub is fancy on The Wellington, as it has a waterfall designed in it, with the water carefully cascading over swimmers.
Season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean is set to return on June 1. Captain Sandy will be coming back, along with Malia White as the bosun and Hannah Ferrier as the chief stewardess.
