$100 million superyacht Rocinante owned by American billionaire games developer Gabe Newell arrives in Falmouth on Thursday, September 14.

A stunning £80 million super yacht owned by an American billionaire games developer arrived in Cornwall today (Thursday, September 14). The 258ft luxury yacht Rocinante took pride of place in Falmouth marina, making everybody else's boats look a little small and underdressed.

Built in 2008 by the Lurssen shipyard in Germany, Rocinante was formerly known as TV and Madsummer, before being bought by billionaire Gabe Newell. The man behind the development of the company's first game 'Half-Life' back in 1998, Newell is the president of gaming company Valve, and was reported to have a net worth of $3.9 billion in 2021.

Rocinante was in good company today, with another billionaire's super yacht not far away. £40 million super yacht Game Changer, complete with helicopter landing pad and owned by Hong Kong based billionaire heiress Karen Lo, was conducting sea trials today as part of work at Pendennis Shipyard.

Initially designed as a support vessel to allow owners of super yachts to carry more equipment, Game Changer was adapted and upgraded to become a super yacht in her own right. The 230ft Dutch-built vessel not only has a helicopter landing pad, but also a submarine and custom dive centre.

The yacht, named Pi, has an estimated worth of £118million and arrived at Falmouth Harbour on Wednesday morning. It was then moved to Pendennis Shipyard.

The vessel was built in 2019 and has a length of 77 metres, making it the 195th largest yacht in the world.

Pi can host up to 12 guests and 18 crew members and has its own helicopter pad, glass-bottomed swimming pool and onboard spa facilities.

Mr Schultz bought the famous coffee chain in the 1980s and is ranked by Forbes as the 209th richest person in the world with a net worth of £3.7billion.

Staycation inspiration: How to cruise Cornwall by superyacht

For UK-based superyacht owners looking to cruise closer to home, Cornwall has more to offer than you might think as a staycation location . Discover our favourite fine dining spots, secluded beaches and homely hotels in the the west country that are perfect for a superyacht stopover...

Berth at: Port Pendennis Marina

Port Pendennis Maria is the only fully serviced marina in the region that can accommodate superyachts. It has a large outer harbour with 260 metres of pontoon dedicated to visiting yachts. It also offers unrestricted tidal access with a minimum depth of 4.6 metres.

Alternatively if your superyacht is in need of a little TLC then Pendennis Shipyard can accommodate yachts in its wet basin. The Pendennis Yacht Support team can also help with arrival support, customs and provisioning contacts.

Alternatively, drop anchor in one of the many bays and estuaries and explore hidden pathways and beaches by tender.

Stay at: The Idle Rocks, St. Mawes

Located in the heart of St. Mawes and accessible by tender from Falmouth, The Idle Rocks is an intimate, 19-bedroom Relais & Châteaux hotel. Its restaurant, headed by chef Dorian Janmaat, prides itself on using fresh and local ingredients to show off the finest Cornish cuisine. Stop by to stretch your sea legs and enjoy a traditional British Sunday lunch on the terrace while taking in the stunning views of the harbour. Alternatively, arrive in time for a sundowner and then enjoy a three-course meal with highlights such as Cornish Monkfish served with wild garlic, gnocchi, celeriac and clams.

If you are looking for a more rustic dining experience head to the Wheelhouse in Falmouth. Hidden down a side street, the Wheelhouse is considered to be something of a foodies' secret and has a reputation for serving some of the best crab, lobster and shellfish in this corner of Cornwall.

Play golf at: Budock Vean Hotel

If you fancy a round of golf while in the region then head to the scenic Budock Vean Hotel. Originally designed by five-time Open Winner James Braid the challenging course is set within mature parkland. If members of the party are seeking a more relaxing day then they can check into the hotel’s spa for a day of seaside pampering.

Meet afterwards for a traditional Cornish cream tea while taking in the the stunning grounds that sprawl over 65 acres. Enjoy scones and cakes made according to a secret recipe passed down to the pastry chef from his grandmother, paired with a cup of tea brewed with leaves grown locally on the nearby Tregothnan Estate.

Helicopter to: Tresco

If you aren't carrying a chopper on board your superyacht, charter a helicopter from Castle Air and be picked up from the Pendennis Shipyard helipad for a scenic flight around Tresco, the second biggest island in the Isles of Scilly group. Land on the island and explore the sub-tropical Tresco Abbey Garden, bursting with unique plant species from more than 80 countries around the world. From palm trees to shocking pink geraniums, the garden's 2,000 plants flourish well thanks to tall windbreaks that can channel the weather up and over the network of walled enclosures. Hidden within the garden is also the Valhalla museum, a collection of some 30 figureheads rescued from local shipwrecks.

Afterwards head to one of the island's many glittering beaches and watch the sunset over the small isles before returning to Falmouth.

Visit: St Mawes Castle and Glendurgan Gardens

Alongside Pendennis Castle, English Heritage site St. Mawes Castle helped to guard the Port of Falmouth for more than 400 years. It is one of the best preserved of King Henry VIII's coastal artillery fortresses and its grounds stretch down to the Fal Estuary with views out to sea. During summer, open-air theatre performances are hosted within the grounds for an atmospheric night of entertainment.

Alternatively head to the National Trust garden in the valley of Glendurgan. The waterside garden runs down to the Helford River at the fishing village of Durgan and is filled with an incredible variety of plants and flowers. After your walk around the gardens and maze visit the tea house for a traditional Cornish ice cream.

Feast at: Hidden Hut

If you are looking for a fun family evening then head to the Hidden Hut overlooking Porthcurnick Beach for one of their famous feast nights. Guests bring their own plates, cutlery and wine while the secluded beach cafe supplies the food for a sea-breeze scented outdoors picnic. The menu changes for every event and ranges from Cornish lobster and chips to wood-fired rotisserie chicken.

Located just outside Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula the cafe offers picture-perfect views and a relaxed environment. Make sure you buy your ticket in advance as the event is so popular it always sells out.

HOLLYWOOD superstar Tom Cruise is staying aboard an incredible £32million super yacht as he holidays in Cornwall.

The 59-year-old’s incredible vessel - called the Triple Seven - was spotted sailing into the bay at Penzance last night as the actor travels around the stunning coastline.

Tom Cruise is currently staying on a superyacht off the coast of Cornwall

Tom is currently enjoying a break from shooting the latest Mission Impossible film at the Warner Bros Studios in Hertfordshire, and on location around the UK.

The 68 metre yacht can host up to 12 people, as well as 17 crew members to wait on his every need.

It features a huge waterslide, a jacuzzi and various outdoor dining spaces, depending on where Tom fancies his dinner.

It is tastefully decorated inside with cream interiors and an impressively sized master bedroom.

Last month The Sun revealed that filming on the seventh installment of the film had ground to a halt once again after someone on set tested positive for coronavirus.

Some people pointed their fingers at the leading man himself, claiming they hadn’t seen him on set since.

An insider said: “Filming on Mission Impossible 7 is on hold again because of coronavirus. And this time, those working on the production have said they think Tom could be the possible cause of the postponement.

“Everyone on the set was told that filming was being stopped again because of a positive test. And since then, Tom hasn’t been on set once.

“Now people are speculating that he could have come into contact with the person who tested positive. And in some cases, people are even gossiping and saying it could be him.

“Obviously there is no proof of that but it’s not stopped people gossiping about it. It’s now become a joke on set, with people saying how ironic it would be if Tom was the reason they had to press pause again.”

In December, The Sun released an audio recording of Tom, who plays spy Ethan Hunt in the franchise, giving workers at the set in Leavesden, Herts, the hairdryer treatment over Covid.

In an impassioned speech Tom pleaded with those on the production to stick within the rules to avoid further hold-ups.

The local publication also reported that a 'silhouetted figure' could be seen on deck at sunrise, however they were unable to confirm whether it was the actor himself.

As well as filming MI:7 in the UK, Cruise's appearance comes after a film crew moved into a quarry in Wiltshire, with many residents spotting A-list celebs in the area.

The 223ft motor yacht boasts sleek and neutral interior, including a plush living space fit for any A-list actor, boasting white sofas and a floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the sea views.

In the master suite the stylish and compatary decor - which is believed to have been updated in 2014 - continues, with a huge bed covered in white bed linen and a beige leather chaise longues.

The boat sleeps up to 10 guests in five different rooms, including the stunning master suite, three double cabins, one twin cabin and two pullman beds (a bed that pulls down from the ceiling or folds out from the wall).

The outside living space is just as enivable, judging by the spacious hot tub which is submerged into the decking on the back of the luxurious yacht.

Tom has spent much of the last year in the UK filming the seventh installment of the Mission Impossible franchise and has been pictured filming action-packed scenes in the Yorkshire Moors in recent months.

During his downtime, the screen star has also been pictured at several big events including Wimbledon and the Silverstone Grand Prix.

He was also seen mingling with David Beckham at Wembley Stadium for the Euro 2020 final.

Last month, Mission: Impossible 7 filming has reportedly been paused again due to a positive Covid test with crew members speculating it could be Cruise.

Despite there being 'no proof' to back up the idle talk, it has been claimed that people are gossiping it could be Tom, due to his alleged absence on set.

A source told The Sun: 'Filming on Mission Impossible 7 is on hold again because of coronavirus. And this time, those working on the production have said they think Tom could be the possible cause of the postponement.

INSIDE TRIPLE SEVEN

  • Built by German shipyard in 2006, Triple Seven underwent a maintenance refit in 2016.
  • Triple Seven can host 10 guests within her five staterooms, cared for by a crew of 17.
  • She is fully kitted-out with a waterslide, jacuzzi, multiple alfresco dining areas and a lavish interior.
  • Triple Seven travels at a maximum speed of 17 knots and cruising at 14 knots thanks to her twin diesel engines.
  • The vessel's last-known asking price was €38,000,000.

It is not known whether Tom has received the Covid vaccine or not, although despite being proven to dramatically cut the risk of coronavirus, none of the jabs approved in Britain are 100 per cent effective.

It means some vaccinated people will inevitably get infected without having any symptoms, leaving them unaware they are infected and contagious — unless they get tested.

In March, it was reported that Tom had  surprised NHS staff to thank them for working though the coronavirus pandemic.

The movie star is thought to have secretly visited the ExCel Centre in East London to 'pay personal tribute to frontline health staff'.

A source told The Sun at the time: 'He told his team he wanted to pay his personal tribute to frontline health staff who have helped get movies back on track.

'They were really shocked to see such a huge movie star. Tom wanted to keep it a secret and ensure it was a nice surprise for them.

'The world had heard his rant at crew on set and that proved just how seriously he has taken the pandemic.'

MailOnline contacted representatives for Tom Cruise and the ExCel Centre for further comment at the time.

The ExCel Centre is a major vaccine centre with another part of the site being used for the NHS Nightingale Hospital's patient rehabilitation facility.

Elsewhere it was claimed that Tom was reportedly in a rush to finish filming Mission: Impossible 7 in only three weeks.

Thanks to several delays to the shooting schedule brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, there was said to be only 21 days left to get the film completed.

A source told The Sun : 'Mission: Impossible has been hit by so many delays, there is now a huge pressure to finish on time.

'Tom and the team are tearing their hair out. Some of the crew are agency contractors and are already booked to move on to new projects.

'Without them, Tom will be left scratching around for replacements. And if that wasn't enough, he has his own scheduling conflicts.'

The source added that as Top Gun 2 is released in November, Tom will have to begin promotional work for the movie soon.

While the majority of the next Mission: Impossible is already filmed, there was said to be one final big scene to do that involved a speeding train being driven over the edge of a cliff.

MailOnline contacted a representative for Tom Cruise for comment at the time.
