Manufacturer Provided Description
Taking on the family resemblance, the CNB 66 was designed as the largest sailing yacht that could be handled by a family crew. It can be equipped with the hydraulic roller-furling boom developed in an exclusive partnership with Hall Spars. Endowed with a carbon bowsprit, her elegant lines conceal an abundance of volume, exploited with all our know-how. This is the case, for example, in the owner's cabin, where the queen size island bed is offset to the side to remain invisible when the door is open. In the light-filled saloon that occupies the entire beam (5.50 m), the large, nearly 3-metre long sofa to starboard can be divided into three parts to increase the seating around the adaptable saloon’s massive table. As for the galley, we wished it to be practical, well ventilated, but in direct contact with the living space. Decoration and interior environments are designed by Jean-Marc Piaton and Rafael Bonet. Outside, there is clear separation between the lounging and handling areas. As on the One-offs, we have sought throughout to eliminate differences in level in order to facilitate movement without impairing safety. Finally, what sailing yacht of this size can boast a tender garage enabling the launching in less than a minute of a 3.25-metre tender with its engine?
Beyond question, the CNB 66 redefines what is possible with a 20-metre yacht. No wonder that even before she was launched, seven owners from Europe, Australia and Mexico put their faith in us.

Home › The Fleet › Qilak 66
End 2018 we delivered custom sailing yacht Qilak 66, to its Belgian owners – father, son and daughter – in the port of Zeebrugge. Safety and robustness were important criteria for them. This is reflected in the design by Owen Clarke Yacht Design from England. It features a collision bulkhead in the forepeak, 10 mm ice reinforcement skin plates, an ice-girder and 5 watertight doors. The ship is built to sail with guests in high latitude areas, pole to pole as the owner puts it. The chartering will initially be done from Tromsø in Norway, from where the yacht will put into Spitsbergen, Iceland and Greenland. The ultimate goal is to sail to the Southern Hemisphere and navigate the Beagle Canal in southern Chile and Argentina.
Owner and captain Phil said on delivery: “Forty years of dreaming, four years of planning and now, after one and a half years of building, the time has finally come. This is one of the best days of my life! To do this together with my son and daughter is very special for me, and I really look forward to making fantastic trips aboard Qilak and showing guests the beautiful world in the North and far South.” The beautiful scenic photos shown here from one of those charter trips to Spitsbergen were made by www.andyexplorestheworld.com.

Vitters delivers 59m sailing yacht Maximus
The 59-metre Vitters sailing yacht Maximus , formerly known as Project 3090 , has been delivered. She made her first stop in the Cornish town of Falmouth in the UK, and will continue her journey to the Caribbean for the regatta season.
Work began on the ketch-rigged sailing yacht in summer 2021 and the project was seen in daylight for the first time in May 2022 when the hull briefly left the construction shed in Zwartsluis to be turned. The 59-metre Maximus is now the third largest Vitters yacht on the water after the 85.9-metre Aquijo and 66-metre Anatta .
Vitters confirmed that the project is designed as a performance cruiser with an interior volume of 299 GT and design and naval architecture by Germán Frers . The shipyard later described the model as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" with twin rudders and a lifting keel with a minimum draught of five metres and a maximum draught of eight metres.
Other details revealed by the newly released images show a flush deck and a raised deckhouse for a classic look, plus a saloon with wraparound windows for panoramic views while on board.
Maximus was one of three projects currently under construction at the shipyard, together with Project 4090 , a 44-metre fast cruising sloop due to hit the water in 2024, and the 69-metre Vitters 3094 (Project Zero) which has been designed in collaboration with Vripack .
Following her delivery, Maximus will make a splash on the regatta circuit at the St Barths Bucket 2024.

The Kraken Standard
When it comes to equipment specification we’re raising the standard here too. That’s why all Kraken’s come loaded with the equipment we know you’ll want and need.
All other boat builder’s ‘standard’ will require the owner to add another 20-40% to the cost of the boat to bring it up to a reasonable specification for the task of world cruising.
At Kraken, our standard means you’ve already got everything and you don’t need to spend another Dollar, Euro or Pound to sail off the delivery dock to anywhere in the world.
Here's just some of the equipment you get, you’d never expect as standard
Hover over an item for more information on the features included with our Full World Cruising Specification, standard on every Kraken. To see everything included, check out the full specification at the link below.

Build Specification
10 features included with every kraken, one piece hull and integral zero keel.
All Kraken’s comprise of a one piece hull and integral Zero Keel which houses a sealed lead ballast bulb.
The hull lay up is built using 17-22 layers of composite engineered fabrics bonded together by vinyl-ester resins. The general hull thickness is a minimum of 15mm. Aramid fibre composites (Kevlar) is also used in all impact areas, the bow stem, the front of the keel and the keel base.
The hull topsides incorporate 25mm closed cell foam, the FRP foam sandwich which extends from 40cm (16″) above the waterline to deck level. This structure improves insulation and overall hull form rigidity. A Kraken’s hull and structures exhibited no flexing.
ALPHA™ Rudder System
The rudder and steering system is the most vulnerable element of any yacht, in recognition of this, the Kraken engineering and design team have developed the world’s safest rudder and steering system.
The rudder is fully protected and supported by a full length skeg with an integral stainless steel beam, which has at its foot the first rudder bearing. The 3 ¾” (82mm) rudder stock has a second (main) bearing at its centre as it passes into the hull at the transom. This bearing is accessible and removable from the inside of transom. Even at sea!
The rudder stock has a removable third bearing at the top inside the stern lazarette. The rudder itself, comprises an integral stainless steel armature, which is welded to the stainless steel rudder stock. It is then finished and faired using FRP/vinyl-ester.
Solid crash zone at bow waterline
A heavily reinforced ‘solid crash zone’ below the anchor chain locker, incorporating high density closed cell foam with substantial reinforcements in aramid fibres extends from above the waterline to 40cm below it. This solid area runs through to the first sealed bulkhead providing maximum collision protection.
Structural frames and stringers
All longitudinal and latitudinal structures are individually bonded in during the hull layup stages with no prefabricated structural components . The video below explains how the structural frames and stringers work on a Kraken Yacht.
All bulkheads are vacuum infused FRP with 25mm structural foam core. No plywood is used. There are two watertight sealed bulkheads forward, one between the anchor locker and the forward lazarette and a second one between the forward lazarette and the interior. A further watertight, sealed bulkhead at the stern divides the interior from the aft lazarette.

A superyacht belonging to billionaire Liverpool owner John W Henry was spotted in Scottish waters this weekend during a trip around the country.
The 10-year-old vessel, which is 66-metres-long, was pictured in Aberdeen , after appearing in the harbour on Saturday, August 24 after leaving Leith.
The boat , which was built in 2014, was bought by the Liverpool FC owner, thought to be worth $5billion, in 2016. And it sailed to the Granite City as the owner took in his side's 2-0 Premier League win over Brentford at Anfield.
Aberdeen Live reports there was no sign of the American in Aberdeen, and that the yacht departed on Monday, heading south along the east coast.
Henry first took over the English footballing giants back in 2010 when Fenway Sports Group purchased Liverpool, with the group also owning American baseball outfit Boston Red Sox.
Originally built under the name Ester III and delivered in 2014 by German company Lurssen. On its website, Lurssen states "Elysian features strong lines and an extraordinary deck layout and near-vertical bow.

Mike Lynch: Captain Of Bayesian Yacht Declines To Talk
Respected captain of Bayesian yacht faces manslaughter charges, but refuses to answer questions over sinking
The legal fallout from the death of British tech entrepreneur and former Autonomy CEO Mike Lynch, his 18 year-old daughter, and five other people, has begun this week.
Italian authorities on Monday began a manslaughter and negligent shipwreck investigation of the captain of the super yacht Bayesian. Investigators are focusing on how a vessel deemed “unsinkable” by its manufacturer sank while a nearby sailing boat remained largely unscathed.
New Zealander James Cutfield, 51, was captain and in charge of the 10 man strong crew aboard the 56-meter (184-foot) sailing boat when it capsized during a sudden storm in the early hours of Monday 19 August, killing seven passengers , including Dr Mike Lynch.
Causes of sinking
The YouTube channel eSysman SuperYachts , whose host has over 2 decades of working on super yachts, has been expertly tracking and analysing the official investigation and the possible reasons for the sinking of the supposedly “unsinkable” vessel.
Possible causes reportedly being investigated is whether certain hatches or access doors were left open during the severe weather.
But as eSysman has pointed out in previous videos, this is likely prove difficult to establish as the crew (all of whom survived the sinking), were reportedly on deck getting outside items into cover indoors during the adverse weather event, (which may have required some doors, hatches to be opened).
The YouTube channel has also noted it is allegedly fairly commonly practice to run superyachts with a limited number of ship trained crew, putting pressure on all concerned.
Whilst the 10 person strong crew onboard the Bayesian may sound sufficient for the 12 guests – when crew members dealing with the guests such as cooks, cleaners, waitresses and other personnel are factored in, it often leaves a limited number of ship qualify personnel to actually handle the vessel.
It has also been alleged that it is very rare for rich yacht owners and their guests to take part in emergency evacuation exercises, which are commonly mandated by marine authorities.
Italian investigation
In the latest video update on the state of the investigation by the Italian authorities, eSysman quoted local media outlets as saying that on Tuesday expert kiwi captain James Cutfield (who is not in custody) pleaded “no contest” and declined to reply to questions from prosecutors.
“The captain exercised his right to remain silent for two fundamental reasons,” lawyer Giovanni Rizzuti was quoted as telling reporters in other media outlets . “First, he’s very worn out. Second, we were appointed only on Monday and for a thorough and correct defence case we need to acquire a set of data that at the moment we don’t have.”
Other media outlets have also reported that two British crew members have also been questioned.
It is reported that ship engineer Tim Parker Eaton and sailor Matthew Griffith are being investigated over allegedly failing to protect the yacht’s engine room and operating systems.
Salvage crews are expected to raise the Bayesian in the coming weeks. After the yacht is raised, investigators will determine if the hatches were open during the storm.
Italian prosecutors will also investigate whether the ship’s chief mate was on the bridge when the ship sunk, and if anyone tried to warn the passengers of imminent danger.
Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group (owner of the flagship brand Perini Navi), last week blamed the Bayesian’s crew for the “incredible mistake” of not being prepared for the storm, which had been announced in shipping forecasts.
