Gaz and Guy from Yacht Club are hypnotised by Greeny's bountiful sausage during a brief appearance at a Surry Hills butchery on the Demons of Gymnastics tour. Directed and edited by 'StereoDan' Taylor, Presented by Andrew 'Greeny' Green, Production assistants Claire Knight and Bex Logan. Live footage by : Yael 'Yaya' Stempler - MusicFeeds

When the cat’s away the mice will play... With dance music aficionado Nina Las Vegas away from the Triple J decks until the end of July, Melbourne’s naughty duo Yacht Club DJs are taking over Triple J’s House Party across the nation’s airwaves. The pair of Gareth Harrison and Guy Chappell Lawrence are already known for their stage-diving and crowd-surfing antics, not to mention their electrifying mash-ups blending everything from dance anthems to cartoon theme songs, and even mini mash-ups of 100 songs in 10 minutes. Unlikely to disappoint, Yacht Club DJs are getting our Saturday nights underway now until Sat Jul 23, before Nina Las Vegas returns on Sat Jul 30 with her trademark party jams for a special Splendour After (House) Party. - The Onion

Festival season is now in full-fling with unofficial festival opener Parklife reigning in the crowds over two weeks, five cities and with 31 touring international music acts. Now if only we could get the summer weather on board as well! Over 100,000 attendees participated in the outdoor festival during the total time frame. Parklife 2011 stats by the numbers: *30 - Number of robotic dancers that joined festival favourites Yacht Club DJ’s on stage, including a couple of 70 year old senior citizens in Sydney. - Nine to Five

A riotous set by cut ‘n’ paste masters Yacht Club DJs was a highlight of the day. Despite mashing together songs you wouldn’t expect to hear within these grounds (INXS, Elvis) it worked. They have a rap for tumultuous live shows and this one didn’t disappoint with members of the audience donning astronaut suits on stage. One of the Yacht Club boys attempted to crowd surf an inflatable boat, but within a few seconds it was abandon ship. Party time. - The Vine

After walking into the festival grounds, I’m immediately smacked in the face by the blaring cut ‘n’ paste styles of Yacht Club DJ’s at the Kakadu stage. The Ballarat-bred duo bouncing away inside an inflatable igloo, surrounded by thrusting stormtroopers. As per usual, they’re technically flawless in executing the rambunctiously schizophrenic brand of party-mash they’ve become so admired for, blending Journey’s ‘Anyway You want It’ with Guns ‘n’ Roses ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’ beneath rapid fire spits from a cavalcade of hip-hop and R&B mainstays. But a relatively sparse crowd seem to be going through the motions, bopping away only mechanically. Maybe it’s a little early in the day for this. Obscene waiting times at the Kakadu stage bar (compounded by a controversial $1 ‘recycling surcharge’ on all drinks - apparently the average punter is environmentally conscious, but not that environmentally conscious) are only mitigated by the highlight of Yacht Club’s set, where they drop a b-more tinged cut of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Just like every other time the song has been played throughout the history of the known cosmos, an instant swarm of people bang their heads and raise their rock horns skyward when that famous riff comes crashing in. Second thoughts: maybe it’s never too early in the day for this. - Elliott Grigg - The Vine

Ballarat's mash-up duo act Yacht Club DJs are known across the Australian festival circuit for their hard and fast mixes and crazy on-stage antics. But this month they're putting together a different type of set list. The pair has been taking over the airwaves for Triple J House Party. 0 It's not the most difficult job for two guys who live to mash up songs for sold-out festival DJ sets. Guy Chappell-Lawrence and Gaz Harrison are filling in for Nina Las Vegas on Triple J's Saturday night show, House Party. While they're speaking into the mic to their biggest crowd ever, there are upsides to sitting in a studio compared with performing half-naked on a stage in front of thousands of sweaty, partying festival-goers. "You don't have people hurling bottles if you do a bad mix on radio, which we do get. The DJ fraternity is a harsh mistress," Guy laughs. "Considering that I'm quite often running around drunk off my head with no shirt on, screaming obscenities at 10,000 people...it's pretty funny to how nervous I felt," Gaz says. For the pair, that seem to bounce off one another in conversation as easily as they do on stage, the difficult part is trying to fit all of the songs they want to play into four shows. "We've expressly wasted our childhood and just done nothing but collected a stupid, stupid long list of songs we like, so we could probably do this for two years and never play the same song twice," Gaz says. "We've got lots of songs that we really like to listen to that we don't get to use in our DJ sets that just work on radio," Guy says. Other Ballarat bands Howl (Hunting Grounds) and Goldfields have been on their set list and listeners can also expect to hear a taste of the duo act's side projects; Rick Moranis Overdrive and Paradise. The Parklife national tour is the next big gig for Yacht Club DJs, where they'll see crowds of more than 25,000 at each event. But Guy and Gaz are often surprised that people are shocked to meet them - given they can be found at one of the coffee shops on Ballarat's main drag most afternoons during the week. We catch up with them at their local hang out and talk to them about picking their playlist, Ballarat's emerging band-breeding music scene and growing up in an Echuca nightclub. - ABC Australia

You could have powered Melbourne from the amount of energy in the room at Ding Dong Lounge last Saturday at the Yacht Club DJs set. At the end everyone had shed at least 10 pounds of weight in sweat and Ding Dong was destroyed. I have not had so much fun since last week’s episode of Glee. The Yacht Club DJs are a tag team of DJs form Ballarat, of all places, who mash (or smash) anything and everything. In the process, they make Girltalk look like an insipid mashed potato to their outrageous bubble and squeak. They have created quite a following over the past year with legend of very loose behaviour. They stayed true to form. The YCDJs were ably supported by their friends the Purple Sneakers DJs, who played a fun, if slightly predictable indie-dance set. There were no surprises, but there were also no disappointments. People were initially neatly coiffured, wearing their Saturday best. By close of business, there were 50 people on stage, women were sweating (not glowing), dudes were shirtless and sweating, there was condensation dripping from the roof and people’s shoes were grimy beyond recognition. And, there had been crowd surfing atop an inflatable replica of the Endeavour. As an aside, your intrepid reviewer had his singlet removed and flung across the room never to be seen again. The night ended with the lads giving away copies of their aptly named album, Kleptomania. It would be beyond the capacity of most reviewers to give you a vaguely decent list of tracks mashed-up. First, there were too many. Secondly, I lost my shit and danced a storm: it was impossible not to. To give you a rough idea there was Dario G with its infamous mid-nineties track Sunchyme, Blink182, The Strokes, Bonnie Tyler, Missy Elliot, the Isley Brother’s Shout, various other cheesy 90s hip hop numbers, recent indie kids and anything ever released between the 1960s and 7 November 2009. It was a crowd full of lovers who wanted to dance. One could wander through the crowd dancing with all and sundry safe in the knowledge the worse thing that would happen would be a sweaty hug. The only downer was trying to get a cab home and walking down Smith Street while being shirtless. You must see the YCDJs. If they clash with another act at one of the myriad festivals they’re playing at over the summer, see them. No doubt. - FasterLouder

Without sounding like toooo much of a pretentious dickhead, I honestly believe that a part of writing is accepting that there are some things which words simply cannot adequately describe. The Yacht Club DJs set at the Corner Hotel on Saturday night was one of these things. Anyone who has seen the Ballarat boys live before probably would have some idea what I’m talking about, however this was my first time seeing Yacht Club live properly (for more than a few minutes at a festival), so I really was not expecting a show this wild, intense, crazy, and awesome. It was one massive party from start to finish, and was one of the most insane hours of my life. Yacht Club played a whirlwind of a show, going from hit to hit in the space of thirty seconds, so that by the time you were getting tired of jumping and screaming along to one song, the next one would be starting. They blended and mixed tracks seamlessly, and there was literally no break in the intensity and the madness. The fact that there was a barrier and security guard set up in the Corner Hotel, something which I had never seen before, demonstrates perfectly just how mental this show was. But instead of doing injustice to the gig with a wordy review, here are some of the things that happened, in no particular order: Black Betty. A fairly long version of All The Small Things which saw literally every person jumping as high as they could, arms outstretched into the bight lights emanating off the stage and singing as loudly as they possibly could. My favourite song ever, Chicago, was played briefly in one of the coolest surprises I have ever witnessed as a gig. I won’t soon forget moshing to the Sufjan Stevens ballad. A constant stream of promo CDs being thrown out from the stage. Their trademark remix of Little Red’s smash hit Rock It which lifted the intensity to a whole new level. Prisoner Of Society, which saw the entire crowd bellowing “WELL WE DON’T NEED NO-ONE, TO TELL US WHAT TO DO”. These Boots Are Made For Walking. Almost perpetual crowdsurfing from the duo, constantly vaulting the barrier to get amongst the crowd. Florence’s You’ve Got The Love with Mumford And Sons’ The Cave as a backing track. Water being sprayed out from the stage into the thankful faces of the sweaty people at the front of the crowd. Around The World by Daft Punk, which absolutely went off. The Middle. The set finished with one of the duo jumping into the crowd and making out with a girl in the audience, and I can think of no better way to sum up the party that was Yacht Club DJs than this. I spent literally the entire show in the very middle of the mosh, which in all fairness was pretty much the whole Corner Hotel, and I don’t think anyone was still for even a single track. Yacht Club moved through songs with ferocious energy and efficiency: this is true music for the ADHD generation. The constant energy in the crowd was truly impressive, continually reaching new highs just when you thought it couldn’t. I kept on being separated from the mates I went to the gig with, only to be reunited through jumping movements and crowd pushes. In these moments we got very amped at our reunion and partied even harder. By the end of the set I was not only completely and utterly exhausted but also drenched in sweat, out of breath, and covered in bruises. It was mental. There were probably twenty other awesome songs that I forgot about, but the gig really did pass in a ridiculously fun blur. It was probably the best $20 I have ever spent, because man did Yacht Club bring the party. This was not your normal Corner Hotel gig, but then Yacht Club DJs aren’t your normal DJs, either. These guys really are onto something, and it’s hard not to see them going from strength to strength as they tear up pretty much any Australia festival and venue they want. Like I said, even though this may have just been another party and another show for Yacht Club DJs, for me this was simply incredible and I cannot wait to relive it next time they tour. The lack of their trademark blowup crowdsurfing dinghy was slightly disappointing, but you certainly can’t complain about how much time they spent out amongst the crowd. But anyway, like I said, words are pretty useless in this case. If you haven’t already, I cannot recommend strongly enough catching a Yacht Club headline show. By the end of it you won’t know what hit you, only that you really, really enjoyed being hit by it. - And Pluck Your Strings

Sober nights out always makes for interesting observations. Sloppy grinding dance moves, the line to the boys toilet suspiciously long, speakers swinging in the air as people cling on trying not to fall off stage…To mention a few. The Price Bandroom was absolutely packed to capacity when Yacht Club Dj’s took to the stage. Following the support acts of Howl and Dz, the crowd was already pumping as the two bands had definitely done more than a decent job of entertaining us. I didn’t really know what to expect as I apparently have been hiding in a cave for the past year, and never even heard of the duo that is Gaz and Guy, but can honestly say they were worth leaving my little cave for! The set they played was in one word, energetic. Gaz was throughout the night jumping up and down behind the decs, while sculling from a huge bottle of vodka, true rock star style. The crowd following his lead, going mental with every heavy bass line they dropped in their mash-up. The whole set was a tight, hour long mash-up/dance fest of pretty much everything from Nancy Sinatra to Jay-Z and Prodigy. One minute I felt like a kid dancing to my dads records, the next they would drop in the heavy beats of Does it Offend you Yeah?’s ‘We Are Rockstars‘. Their remixes were flowing effortlessly between the 1950’s to todays’ top 40 while their energetic antics on stage kept the crowd bouncing from start to finish. One thing that was pretty average though was the sound, true I was front right, behind the speakers but even walking through the room, it sounded pretty distorted. That did not seem to bother anyone though as most of them were shouting Aretha Franklins ‘R.E.S.P.E.C.T’ at the top of their lungs, one of many sing-a-longs. The whole experience was as unusual and diverse as the crowd there. The drummer from Howl doing a nudie run on stage, before at least a hundred people jumped up to dance on stage with the Dj’s, blocking the view until Gaz surfaced towards the end hanging off metal racks in the ceiling, swinging from rack to rack before he finally dived into the crowd and fell on the ground. The night finished off with Bjork’s ‘Oh So Quiet’ playing as I was running to beat the pack to a taxi so I could go home to my cave and let my left ear-drum recover from the crazy experience the Yacht Club Dj’s turned out to be. - Cat Kolden - MyVision TV

Yacht Club DJs are a two-piece mash-up DJ act from Ballarat, Victoria. The act includes Gareth Harrison and Guy Chappell-Lawrence. They formed in early 2008 after meeting at local indie venue. They started with a regular residency, but they engaged a manager and soon began booking shows across Australia. Their style is hard to pinpoint, with their mashup tracks sampling anything from pop to punk, rock to rap, even Elton John and Mozart. When on stage, Chappell-Lawrence can be found behind his laptop, mixing live, while Harrison favours the more traditional record spinning and scratching technique.

Yacht Club DJs Tickets & Info

We made it through the apocalyptic start to 2012 with no zombie sightings, but Australia's own mash-up maestros Yacht Club DJs are about to make sure 2012 gets a dose of '50s horror throughout March and April when they hit the road on the "They Mostly Come At Night... Mostly" tour.

Frightening both capital cities and regional towns, including Toowoomba, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Geelong, Ballarat, Hobart, Wollongong, Canberra and Newcastle, Yacht Club DJs take to the stage with their take on a B Grade Horror flick - Zombies, fake blood, plus lots of dancing and, as always, nudity. Their first national tour since 2010, Australia best be wary of what they've got in store.

Ballarat's Guy Chappell-Lawrence and Gareth (Gaz) Harrison better known as the Yacht Club DJs will take their on-stage antics to the next level preparing to let night terrors loose on Australia.

Guy and Gaz - good friends from mingling at the local - found their common ground in their eclectic and diverse taste of music including pop, hardcore and hip-hop plus a little bit of Australian larrikin. Bonding over how they spent their childhood compiling long lists of songs that would get the party started, they began DJing to their friends as residents of Karova Lounge in Ballarat. But it didn't stop there.

They've played parties all over Australia to more than just their friends, named on many festival bills including Meredith Music Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Parklife, Falls Festival, Field Day and Groovin' In The Moo.

The Yacht Club DJs take on the mash-up genre and their explosive concoction of classic pop, metal, theme songs and anything in-between is a testament to their knowledge of back catalogues as well as Guy's constant desire to forage the Internet for hidden gems to get the crowd moving.

Adding to the horror party will be the Yacht Club DJs hometown friends, Hunting Grounds. The six-piece with a rambunctious attitude, will rival the Yacht Club DJs as to who can turn the dance floor into a riot.

Hunting Grounds took out the crown of 2009 triple j Unearthed High winner and have since moved on from playing in the Ballarat High School hall to national support slots of The Living End, Children Collide and the Philly Jays. The hyperactive energy and frenetic sounds of Hunting Grounds will prepare the crowd for the ramshackle set of Yacht Club DJs .

Making it a night to dismember the Yacht Club DJs and Hunting Grounds will show the crowd how debauchery and disruption is done.

Exclusive mix :: yacht club djs, april 11th 2014, look, this mix is so entertaining that there’s literally no point reading the tracklist or write-up here. just click play you goon..

FillerWordsFillerWordsFillerWordsFillerWordsFillerWordsFillerWords…oh wait you’re actually reading this? Okay. Um. Yacht Club DJs ! They made FBi this crazyrad exclusive mix that’s got a near uncountable amount of songs in it. Writing up the tracklist has given me permanent digit damage, but it’s totally worth it.

The silly thing is that the Ballarat duo exhibit this extreme level of mash-uppery at their live shows too; they’ve got a proven track record when it comes to blending all of the pop songs into a single, unrelenting wall of happiness. The Yachties are flitting off down the east coast soon to prove this to you once again. Plus they’ve got another sweet new mixtape to plug, as well as their first ever single (yup they make original music too – what dudes!) called ‘ Undertow ‘.

Oh and you should also know that this mixtape right here contains some cheeky snippets from Yacht Club’s forthcoming EP, No. 1 too. Put on some joggers and dance effectively.
