1 week: Biograd - Island Murter - Kakan - Zlarin/Šibenik - Primosten - Žirje - Piškera - Žut - Dugi Otok - Vrgada - Biograd

The area of Northern Dalmatia is very popular among sailors. Here sailors of all levels of experience will find untouched nature, secluded bays and equally lively places along the coast. The many larger and smaller islands of Kornati offer you a great potpourri of routes and anchorages, so that you can arrange your vacation according to your own ideas. Start from Biograd for a one-week cruise towards the south and make a stop on the island of Murter . It is located about 30 kilometers from Šibenik . It is connected to the mainland by a swing bridge to the town of Tisno during the summer months, making it a well-visited resort. The west coast of the island opens to the sea and offers several bays, in which restaurants and konobas are located, ideal landing places for sailors.

South of Murter is the Šibenik archipelago . The island of Kakan is uninhabited, but in the northwest there is a bay with a restaurant, which in the summer months is an attractive destination not only for sailors. The bay Potkucine offers protection from winds, such as the notorious bora, which can arise here even in the summer months.

A little further to the southeast is the popular bathing island of Zlarin . With an area of 8 km2 it is not very large, but along its coast there are several quiet bays where not only families can enjoy the crystal clear water undisturbed. If you feel like sightseeing, you can visit the beautiful town of Šibenik . Zlarin is the closest.

On the Croatian mainland in the direction of Primosten is the bay Grebaštica, which is formed by the peninsula Ostrica. Worth seeing here is the so-called wall of Ostrica, which was built in the 15th century as a protective measure. In Primosten, a little more hustle and bustle awaits you. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, past typical Dalmatian houses to the highest point where the church of St. Juraj is enthroned. Built in the 15th century, it offers a rewarding view over the sea and the surrounding countryside. Here, the vineyards around Primosten are particularly eye-catching. South of the town are the vineyards of Bucavac Veliki. Here the indigenous grape variety Babic is cultivated on walled fields. Treat yourself to a glass of this powerful red wine with your dinner, which pairs well with meat dishes such as the Dalmatian roast beef pašticada.

On the way back, divers have an opportunity for wreck diving on the southwest coast of Zirje Island. Here, at a depth of only 28 meters, lies the wreck of an Italian Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber, which sank in 1941.

The uninhabited island of Piškera also belongs to the Kornati islands, the small island does not offer much worth seeing, however, the island has a marina with all necessary facilities, which is why it is appreciated by sailors as a stopover.

The island Žut belongs to the Kornati islands but not to the national park. The second largest island of Kornati is also very popular with sailors as a destination for excursions, as it offers beautiful Mediterranean natural landscapes and quiet bays, but there are no national park fees.

On the island of Dugi Otok is the Telašćica Nature Park, the bay of the same name offers one of the largest natural harbors on the Adriatic coast. Here you can anchor and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding natural landscape. Around the island there are also many smaller bays for a stopover. For those seeking peace and quiet, the island of Vrgada off Biograd is a recommendation. Here, just 5 kilometers from the mainland, there are no cars. Especially for families there is the possibility to stroll carefree through the small town on the island. In the northeast of the island is the beach Podbrizi with the peculiarity that it is a sandy beach. So you can also build the obligatory sand castle for your vacation on Vrgada.

Biograd once coronation town of Croatian kings. The core of the old town is on a peninsula. Many ruins of medieval buildings and excavations in the surrounding area testify the centuries-long history of the embattled city.

Biograd is located 28km from Zadar. Besides the peninsula Biograd extends into the bays Bosana in the north and Soline in the south.

On the two outlying islands Planac and Sveta Katarina are the lighthouses of Biograd. The marinas of Biograd, Kornati and Sangulin (43 56.5 'N 15 26.7' E), are situated to the north of the peninsula.

In the supermarket in the harbor you can buy everything you need. Around the marina there are several restaurants. Numerous islands and of course the Kornati archipelago are easy to reach from Biograd.

The island Pasman is suitable for a first strike from the Marina Biograd. In Biograd start every year many races organized by the Yacht Club Biograd in collaboration with the local charter companies.

The only Croatian Boat & Sailing Show is held annually in the fall in Biograd. A time when the already active nightlife gets better.

History of Biograd

Biograd is a small Croatian royal city that was mentioned for the first time in the Xth century, and in the XI. it becomes the headquarters of kings and bishops. From the year 1409 to 1797 Biograd was under the power of Venetia. End of the XVII. In the 19th century, the city was burned and destroyed, which is why the city is losing its importance. The tourist development of the city begins in the period between the two world wars. The first hotel was built in 1935. In the 90s, the city experienced another great destruction, during the war in Croatia. The city won the Silver Medal and the 2007 Silver Flower Prestige Award for Garden and City Decorations.

Biograd Heritage site

Biograd is a relatively small town with about 5,900 inhabitants, but with a rich history and heritage. The most important churches are the church of Sank Anastassia (1761), church of Saint Ante (13th century). The only basilica that has "survived" the Venetian destruction is St. Ivan.

Yachtcharter Biograd Biograd ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt für einen Törn in die Kornaten. Der Naturschutzpark Kornati liegt in Mitteldalmatien und besteht aus mehreren großen und kleinen meist kargen Inseln mit traumhaften Buchten. Biograd wird seit Mitte des 10. Jahrhunderts als Stadt erwähnt (Konstantin Porphyrogennetos). Im 11. Jahrhundert ist sie Sitz der kroatischen Könige. Um 1059 wird sie Bischofssitz; im selben Jahr wird das Benediktinerkloster St. Johannes gegründet, im Jahr 1069 das Frauenkloster St. Thomas. Im Jahr 1102 wird König Koloman von Ungarn in Biograd zum kroatischen König gekrönt. 1125 zerstören die Venezianer die Stadt. Die Zeit der venezianisch-türkischen Kriege hinterlässt tiefe Spuren. Besonders schwer sind die Zerstörungen im Jahre 1646. Während des Kroatienkrieges wurde Biograd durch serbischen Artilleriebeschuss mehrfach getroffen und zahlreiche Gebäude beschädigt.

Biograd - Geschichte und Kultur

Biograd ist nach der Quellen auf den Ruinen von der Antike-Stadt Blandona entstanden. Zum ersten Mal wurde die Stadt im 10. Jahrhundert erwähnt. Unter den kroatischen Herrschern war sie eine Pfarrstadt und später ist Biograd eine Königsstadt geworden.

Im Jahre 1050 gründete der König Petar Krešimir in Biograd das Bistum, weiterhin das männliche und weibliche Benediktinerkloster, sowie die Kirche des Hl. Ivan. Aus römischer Zeit sind die Ruinen villae rusticae erhalten. Am Anfang des 12. Jahrhunderts, und zwar im Jahre 1102 wurde Koloman, der kroatisch-ungarische König gekrönt. Im 13. Und 14. Jahrhundert wurde die Stadt von den Cetiner-Fürsten, den Birbirer-Fürsten Šubići und Vraner Templern verwaltet, und vom Anfang des 15. Jahrhunderts bis zum Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts war Biograd unter der Regierung von Venedig und die Stadt hat viele Zerstörungen in venezianisch-türkischen Kriegen überlebt.

Die Umgebung von Biograd ist reich an Antiquitäten aus kroatischer Geschichte:In Schriften werden die Kirchen, Kloster und Schlösser erwähnt.

Im Stadtmuseum können Sie zahlreiche Artefakten und Beweise von einer stürmischen Geschichte der Stadt Biograd. Das Museum besitzt eine interessante archäologische Sammlung von prähistorischen, antiken und frühkroatischen Befunden, Schifftrachtung vom Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts, wie auch zahlreiche andere Exponate.

Aus der altkroatischen Zeit sind zwei Kirchen, von denen eine die Basilike mit drei Glockentürmen ist.

Von anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten können Sie die Überreste des Klosters des Hl.Ivan besuchen, sowie die St. Anastasius Kirche mit barocken Altaren aus 1761 und zwei kleine Kirchen aus 1850-die Kirche des Hl.Rok und die Hl. Antonija.

In der breiteren Umgebung von der Stadt Biograd befinden sich prähistorische Fundstätte und Überreste eines antiken Aquädukts.

Quarkstrudel, Burek und süßes Gebäck sind sehr empfehlenswert und unerklärlicherweise ein vielfaches günstiger, als zuhause.

Da auch der Yachtcharter Biograd höchstwahrscheinlich mit einem Tankstopp endet, gibt es natürlich auch eine Tankstelle. Wir empfehlen allerdings entweder Freitag vormittags oder abends zu tanken, oder am Samstag sehr früh, da ansonsten mit längeren Wartezeiten zu rechnen ist.

The opening of Marina Kornati in Biograd in 1974 laid the foundation for sailing tourism in Croatia. In the meantime, the harbour has more than 750 moorings for sailing yachts, motorboats or catamarans. The harbour entrance is 40m wide and 6.50m deep. The largest Croatian boat show is held annually at the end of October on the grounds of Marina Kornati with around 50,000 visitors.

In the evening, the hustle and bustle of the harbour town of Biograd na Moru shifts from the harbour promenade to the romantic old town. In the winding alleys of the Dalmatian town, restaurants, bars and shops attract tourists and locals. The nearby beaches around Biograd are also worth a trip. The Dražica Plaza beach, which has been awarded the blue flag since 2006, is particularly popular.

Getting to Biograd Na Moru in Croatia

Marina Kornati is located only 35 kilometres from Zadar Airport. The transfer from the airport to the marina takes about 30 minutes and can be arranged with our reliable taxi service. If a shuttle is required, please let us know at least one week before the charter. Due to its close proximity to the motorway (Benkovac exit), Biograd is also easy to reach by car from Germany and Austria. Here the distances are:

Biograd na Moru – die weiße Stadt – liegt zwischen Sukošan und Drage an der kroatischen Adriaküste in Norddalmatien. Anreise: Wenn Sie mit dem Auto anreisen möchten, dann ist Biograd ein noch gut machbarer Starthafen. Zwischen München und Biograd liegen 840 Kilometer gut ausgebauter Autobahn. Wer lieber mit dem Flugzeug in den Urlaub startet, der kann über den nur 35 Kilometer von Biograd entfernten Flughafen in Zadar anreisen. Von dort aus gelangen Sie mit dem Taxi zur Marina oder Sie buchen zuvor über unseren Kundenbereich einen Transfer.

Inselhopping im Šibeniker Archipel und den Kornaten

Das Revier Norddalmatien erfreut sich bei Seglern großer Beliebtheit. Hier finden Segler aller Erfahrungsstufen unberührte Natur, einsame Buchten und an der Küste ebenso belebte Orte. Die vielen größeren und kleineren Inseln der Kornaten bieten Ihnen ein großes Potpourri an Routen und Ankerbuchten, sodass Sie Ihren Urlaub ganz nach Ihren eigenen Vorstellungen gestalten können. Starten Sie von Biograd für einen einwöchigen Törn in Richtung Süden und machen Sie einen Stopp auf der Insel Murter . Sie liegt etwa 30 Kilometer von Šibenik entfernt. Mit dem Festland ist sie in den Sommermonaten durch eine Drehbrücke mit dem Ort Tisno verbunden und somit ein gut besuchter Urlaubsort. Die Westküste der Insel öffnet sich zum Meer hin und bietet mit mehreren Buchten, in welchen Restaurants und Konobas liegen, ideale Anlaufziele für Segler.

Südlich von Murter schließt sich der Šibeniker Archipel an. Die Insel Kakan ist unbewohnt, aber im Nordwesten befindet sich eine Bucht mit einem Restaurant, welches in den Sommermonaten ein attraktives Ausflugsziel nicht nur für Segler ist. Die Bucht Potkucine bietet Schutz vor Winden, etwa vor der berüchtigten Bora, die hier auch in den Sommermonaten aufkommen kann.

Etwas weiter gen Südosten liegt die beliebte Badeinsel Zlarin . Sie ist mit 8 km 2 Fläche nicht sehr groß, doch finden sich entlang ihrer Küste einige ruhige Badebuchten, in welchen nicht nur Familien ungestört das kristallklare Wasser genießen können. Wem nach städtischem Treiben und Sightseeing ist, der hat dazu in der schönen Stadt Šibenik Gelegenheit. Zlarin liegt am nächsten dran.

Auf dem kroatischen Festland in Richtung Primosten liegt die Bucht Grebaštica, welche durch die Halbinsel Ostrica gebildet wird. Sehenswert ist hier die sogenannte Mauer von Ostrica, welche im 15. Jahrhundert als Schutzmaßnahme errichtet wurde. In Primosten erwartet Sie dann wieder ein wenig mehr Trubel. Schlendern Sie durch die engen Gassen der Altstadt, vorbei an typisch dalmatinischen Häusern bis zum höchsten Punkt, auf welchem die Kirche Sv. Juraj thront. Im 15. Jahrhundert erbaut bietet sie einen lohnenswerten Ausblick über das Meer und die umliegende Landschaft. Hier fallen einem besonders die Weinberge rund um Primosten ins Auge. Südlich der Stadt liegen die Weingärten von Bucavac Veliki. Hier wird auf ummauerten Feldern die indigene Rebsorte Babic angebauten. Gönnen Sie sich zu Ihrem Abendessen ein Glas dieses kräftigen Rotweins, der gut mit Fleischgerichten, wie dem dalmatinischen Rinderbraten Pašticada harmoniert.

Auf dem Rückweg bietet sich für Taucher an der Südwestküste der Insel Zirje eine Möglichkeit zum Wracktauchen. Hier liegt in nur 28 Metern Tiefe das Wrack eines italienischen Sturzkampfbombers des Typs Junkers Ju 87, welcher 1941 gesunken ist.

Die unbewohnte Insel Piškera zählt auch zu den Kornaten, das kleine Eiland bietet nicht viel sehenswertes, allerdings hat die Insel eine Marina mit allen notwendigen Einrichtungen, weshalb sie von Seglern als Zwischenstopp geschätzt wird.

Die Insel Žut zählt zwar zu den Kornaten jedoch nicht zum Nationalpark. Die zweitgrößte Insel der Kornaten ist als Ausflugsziel auch bei Seglern sehr beliebt, da sie schöne mediterrane Naturlandschaften und ruhige Buchten bereithält, hier allerdings keine Nationalparkgebühren anfallen.

Auf der Insel Dugi Otok liegt der Naturpark Telašćica, die gleichnamige Bucht bietet einen der größten Naturhäfen der Adriaküste. Hier kann man beim Ankern die Ruhe der umgebenden Naturlandschaft auf sich wirken lassen. Rund um die Insel finden sich auch viele kleinere Buchten für einen Zwischenstopp. Für Ruhesuchende ist die Insel Vrgada vor Biograd eine Empfehlung. Hier gibt es, nur knapp 5 Kilometer vom Festland entfernt, keine Autos. Besonders für Familien bietet sich die Möglichkeit, ganz sorgenfrei durch die kleine Stadt auf der Insel zu bummeln. Im Nordosten der Insel befindet sich der Strand Podbrizi mit der Besonderheit, dass es ein Sandstrand ist. Die obligatorische Sandburg für Ihren Urlaub können Sie auf Vrgada also auch bauen.

Nicht ohne Grund ist Kroatien eines der beliebtesten Segelreviere überhaupt. Aber nicht nur die Inselwelt der kroatischen Adriaküste hat ihre Reize. Auch entlang der Küste finden sich spannende Orte und lohnenswerte Ausflugsziele. Besonderes Highlight ist sicherlich Zadar . Ein Spaziergang durch die Altstadt gleicht einem Bummel durch die Zeit. Zadar ist bereits seit 3000 Jahren besiedelt und aus allen Epochen lassen sich Überreste entdecken. Ganz im Norden der Halbinsel, auf welcher sich die Altstadt befindet, liegen mit der Meeresorgel und dem Platz „Gruß der Sonne“ zwei Bauwerke der Moderne, welche Sie sich nicht entgehen lassen sollten.

Taucher finden auf der kleinen Insel Maun westlich von Pag gelegen, einen eindrucksvollen Tauchplatz an einer Steilwand. Auch um die Insel Pag lässt es sich gut tauchen und mit mehreren Wracks, unter anderem in der Bucht Šimuni, gibt es auch neben der vielfältigen Unterwasserwelt lohnenswerte Spots.

Wer in seinem Urlaub das Tanzbein schwingen möchte, der besucht den Strand Zrće bei Novalja. Tagsüber findet sich hier ein großes Angebot an Wassersportmöglichkeiten, Nachts öffnen die umliegenden Discotheken ihre Türen und auch der Strand selber wird zur Tanzfläche.
