Powerboat level two.

This is a 2 day course covering close quarters boat handling, high speed maneuvers, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. This is the most popular course within the RYA Powerboat Scheme and introduces people to powerboating in close quarters but also at high speed.

Our coastal RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is facilitated in 3 locations within the Bristol waterways. We run all the slow speed maneuvering in Bristol’s historic floating harbour. This gives powerboat drivers the opportunity to drive in to the centre of Bristol by boat and practice mooring at the many pontoons and landings around the harbour (it is also good for sightseeing locations such as the SS Great Britain and the M-shed).

For the coastal section of the RYA powerboat level 2 we lock out of Cumberland Basin and Entrance Lock onto the River Avon and travel 4 miles down the river to the Bristol Channel. The river gives drivers the chance to experience driving in flowing water and navigation as well as practical application of the Rules of The Road. Once out in the channel we work on high speed driving maneuvering between the mouth of the River Avon and Portishead. This is a navigable waterway with many docking cargo ships, tugs and yacht races to see which adds to the experience.

The RYA Powerboat level 2 course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. The International Certificate of Competence or “ICC” is essential if a boat owner or charterer requires evidence of competence when visiting another European country.

Superyacht Crew Training

The RYA Powerboat Level 2/ICC is the perfect entry level certificate for people working on wanting to work onboard Superyachts.
