9 Must-See Yachts Debuting at the Miami International Boat Show

From a $355-million gigayacht, the largest-ever at a north american show, to a record-breaking electric runabout, this year's mibs has something for every mariner..

The Miami International Boat Show

Five days, six separate locations and more than 1,000 boats of all shapes and sizes on display—the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show is on track to live up to its claim of being the largest boat and yacht show in the world. The show this year will have more available products, largely because the red-hot Covid market from last year has cooled.

“The manufacturers have caught up with product,” Andrew Doole, president of the US Boat Shows for Informa, told Robb Report . “As a result, we’ll see many new boats making their debuts in the convention center and also exceptional superyachts at Island Gardens.”

The show will kick off next Wednesday for its five-day run. Attendance at another recent Informa boat show was higher than last year, says Doole, giving him optimism that Miami will also outperform 2022.

Here are six newcomers, and two gigayachts new to the brokerage market, that promise to be showstoppers.

Lürssen ‘Ahpo’

miami boat show yachts

Lürssen’s 378-foot Ahpo will be the largest gigayacht ever at any North American boat show. Delivered to its owner last year, but now up for sale for $355 million, the yacht has a wonderland interior that includes Asian-influenced designs, including silk wallpaper, hand embroidery and elaborate inlays of flying flamingoes, ginkgo leaves and red maple trees. Even the onboard IMAX Dolby cinema has twinkling LED stars in the ceiling. Designer Nuvolari Lenard also created a dedicated space catering to the multigenerational family, with a split-level suite for the owners, adjoining cabins for their children and parents and total accommodations for up to 16 guests. The mosaic-tiled spa sits at the heart of its outstanding wellness area, but also the yacht also has four pools of various sizes and a standout beach club. It will be moored in the Island Gardens marina.

Lürssen ‘Kismet’

miami boat show yachts

Another superstar of this year’s Miami boat show is the spectacular 312-foot Lürssen-built megayacht, Kismet . Owned by Pakistani-American billionaire and sports lover Shahid Khan – he owns both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Britain’s Fulham soccer club – the yacht will be open for tours to a highly select few at the show’s SuperYacht Miami location. With a brand-new Lürssen, currently codenamed Project JAG and designed by Nuvolari Lenard, due to be completed for Mr. Khan later this year, Kismet is reportedly up for grabs for an eye-watering $181 million.

Lürssen Marguerite

miami boat show yachts

Delivered in 2004, the 200-foot Marguerite (ex. Avanti, Aurora, Phoenix) was designed by Andrew Winch, with a classic interior and art-deco interior by Winch and Dawn Moffitt Design Inc. The superyacht, built by German yard Lürssen, was designed as a true oceangoing vessel, having the ability to be self-sufficient for 30 days. Beyond that, the owners also mandated that it be comfortable in all sea states. It’s listed for $48 million.

Absolute 52 Fly

miami boat show yachts

In urban slang, the word Fly tends to mean cool, sexy, smart or stylish. That kind of describes to a tee Italian builder Absolute Yachts’ brand new 52 Fly flybridge cruiser making its world premiere in the Magic City. With its extensive hull and superstructure glazing—there’s almost as much glass as fiberglass—the interior spaces are flooded with light. And talking of interior, this new 52—bow to stern it’s actually 54 feet—shakes things up by putting its huge master suite in the bow with the VIP amidships. Power comes from a pair of 590 hp Volvo D8 diesels.

Tiara EX 60

miami boat show yachts

Holland, Michigan-based Tiara Yachts just might have a new motto: “Go big, or go home”. At the Miami show they’re pulling the wraps off a brand new flagship—the 60-foot EX 60—which is the biggest, most luxurious Tiara to date. And with a sticker that starts at around $3.7 million, it’s also the priciest. But this newest EX has a lot to offer, including its major focus on outdoor space. If that stern cockpit wasn’t wide enough at 16 feet 11 inches, power-lowering side terraces expand the area to an impressive 20 feet six inches. Power is provided by twin 1350 Volvo D13 diesels that give an impressive 46 mph top speed.

Grady-White 281 Coastal Explorer

miami boat show yachts

When fishing boat powerhouse Grady-White unveils a new boat, anglers the world over pay attention. For the Miami show, the 64-year-old Greenville, NC builder is unveiling its brand new 28-foot 281 Coastal Explorer center console. Designed for both inshore skinny waters as well as offshore swells, the 281 features Grady’s proven SeaV2 wave-cleaving deep-vee hull design. Fisherman-friendly features include a battle-ready casting deck in the bow with low gunwales, and an electric fold-down terrace on the portside of the helm for hauling in that giant grouper. Standard power is a single 425 hp Yamaha outboard, with the option of twin 300s.

Call it a true multi-national. Hylas Yachts’ new M49 is being built in Taiwan from a design by a New Zealand studio, to compete in the booming market for New England-style Down East cruisers. Big brother to the highly-successful Hylas M44, this salty 48-footer blends speedy performance—as in a 36 mph top speed—with exceptional rough-weather, offshore capability. Inside, the M49 features a comfy saloon under that big-windowed hardtop, with a spacious open rear “lounge” for entertaining. Trusty 370 hp Yanmar diesels do the powering. Hylas had hoped to debut the M49 two years ago, but Covid stalled the plan. Now, after a few improvements, it’s finally getting its show premiere.

Voltari 260

miami boat show yachts

Think of it as proving a point. Typically, this new, Canadian-built, all-electric Voltari 260, with its high-torque, 700 hp motor, can slice through waves at a feisty 60 mph. But to set a record for the longest overseas distance for an electric “vehicle” completed on a single charge, the $450,000 Voltari had to dial things back. To a more leisurely 5 mph. That is how this stealthy-looking, carbon-fiber runabout recently ran from Key Largo, Florida across the turbulent Gulf Stream to Bimini in the Bahamas—91 miles door to door—in under 20 hours. It’ll be back in full performance mode for its Miami show debut as a poster child for electromobility on the water.

Leopard 40PC

miami boat show yachts

South Africa’s Leopard Catamarans has a hard-to-resist “try before you buy” offer on its brand new Leopard 40PC power cat that’s making its global debut in Miami. Thanks to close ties with The Moorings charter company, potential buyers can simply rent one, for a week, maybe two, maybe longer. And it should be a blast. With the option of twin 370 hp diesels, the 40PC—or Moorings 403 PC as the charter version is called—can hit a top speed of 23 mph. This new kid brother to Leopard’s bigger 46 PC and 53 PC models has space for six in three cabins and the largest flybridge ever seen on a 40-foot power cat.

Feb 12, 2025 - Feb 16, 2025

The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show returns to Greater Miami & Miami Beach February 12-16, 2025 bringing with it over 1,000 exhibitors, boats and activations. It’ll span six locations across Miami and Miami Beach, making it the world’s largest boat show with an estimated $1.3 billion in economic impact. The Boat Show has also joined forces with SuperYacht Miami to bring the biggest and most luxurious yachts in the world to Watson Island for a special VIP showcase. Whether you’re in the market for a boat or just want to see the latest toys on the water, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show has something for you to enjoy, and there’s easy transportation between all six venues.

Read on for details on the 2024 event

How to best experience the boat show.

How you experience the boat show depends entirely on what you want to see and do. If you’re looking to peruse boats under 49 feet, the Miami Beach Convention Center in South Beach is your spot. The newly renovated convention center will be filled with boats, engines, accessories, electronics and boat-related retail. So whether you’re shopping for a boat or just a new Bimini top for your center console, you can find it here.

Across the causeway at Herald Plaza in Downtown Miami , you’ll find thundering powerboats alongside modest yachts in the 30-125-foot range. There will also be engine manufacturers and retail specific to the boats on display.

If you’re looking to get out on the water, head to the Venetian Marina near Downtown. You’ll find 150 vessels ready for test-drives and a bevy of brokerage boats, too.

Those who prefer wind-powered vessels should make their way to the Museum Park Marina in Downtown Miami, where the latest in sailboats, catamarans and sailing accessories will be in the water.

If you’re in town to shop for a mega yacht, make plans to visit SuperYacht Miami at Yacht Haven Grande Miami . The largest and most impressive boats on the high seas will sit sparkling in the sun at The Deck at Island Gardens, beckoning the world’s elite to see what over-the-top advances shipbuilders have developed. Access to this event is only available to Windward VIP or SuperYacht ticket holders.

What to Do at the Boat Show

The boat show isn’t just for people looking to buy boats. Nor is it for people who just want to look at boats. Across the street from the convention center in Pride Park , you’ll find the Progressive Boat Show Experience , a venerable carnival of boating fun filled with food, seminars and even some tips on how to fix your boat. The Experience’s centerpiece is the Nautical Ventures AquaZone, a 40,000-gallon freshwater pool in which you’ll find watercraft demos and product testing. Try out the latest in nautical technology.

On Thursday and Friday nights, SFC Live! will stream live from the Progressive stage, as Peter Miller and Robbie Floyd discuss the world of professional sport fishing and what to expect in the upcoming season. Throughout the weekend, you can also enjoy fishing seminars by the experts at CHAOS Fishing. And those looking to educate their kids about the wonderful world of angling can enroll them in Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics with Captain Don Dingman, who’ll teach them about different species of fish and fishing techniques.

If you have a boat that’s giving you trouble and need some tips on fixing it, there’s the Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center. Mechanics and other boating pros will be on hand to offer free seminars and advice on everything from daily operations to maintenance.

Planning Your Visit

Tickets to the boat show.

The only way into the boat show will be with digital tickets ; you won’t find a box office on-site. Tickets will get you into every venue except SuperYacht. SuperYacht tickets are sold separately, though those with Windward VIP tickets can also access SuperYacht.

Windward VIP tickets also include access to designated lounges at Herald Plaza and the Miami Beach Convention Center as well as a premium open bar and golf cart transportation to the lounges. VIP ticket holders will also receive free shuttle and water taxi transportation between venues and have their own private restrooms.

Getting to the Boat Show

The Boat Show has partnered with SpotHero , a service that helps reserve parking spaces via lots, garages and valet services. You can check for spaces on the app , although those going to the Convention Center will be best served to park at the 17th Street garage a block south. Other venues may have surface lots nearby, but rideshares and public transportation may be easier.

Going between venues is pretty simple, as ticket holders can take free boat show shuttles or golf carts. Shuttles will run in five different loops connecting the venues, and electric golf carts will run between Maurice Gibb Park and the Convention Center and also Herald Plaza and the Venetian Marina.

This year’s show will also offer a water taxi running between all six locations. Tickets are available for $15 per day (they’re included with Windward VIP tickets).

Those coming via Brightline from points north can take a free shuttle from MiamiCentral Station . It’ll stop at several boat show venues.

Where It’s Happening

The show’s home base will be the Miami Beach Convention Center at 1901 Convention Center Drive in Miami Beach .

The Boat Show Experience will be held in Pride Park, adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Miami Boat Show 2024: Everything you need to know

miami-boat-show-2020

The Miami Boat Show (or to give it its full name, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show) is as glamorous and stylish as its host city.

Held every year in February, this is a key showcase for manufacturers to show off their latest models across four on-water locations and the recently revamped Miami Beach Convention Center and Pride Park.

It’s not just American brands either, with yards from all across the globe flocking to Florida to attract affluent showgoers.

When is the 2024 Miami Boat Show?

The 2024 event will take place from Wednesday February 14 to Sunday February 18.

The show opens each day at 10am and closes in the evening at 6pm on Wednesday on Thursday, 7pm on Friday and Saurtday, and 5pm on Sunday. However the legendary Miami parties go on long into the small hours.

How much are 2024 Miami Boat Show tickets?

Prices have yet to be confirmed for the 2024 show, but 2023 prices were as follows:

Standard day tickets start at $40 per adult and $15 per child, but due to the size of the show, we’d always recommend investing $70 in a two-day ticket.

Wednesday is press preview day, so if you want to be among the first to step aboard the world premieres, then you’ll need to pay an extra $20 for a Prime Time Preview ticket.

Furthermore, the Superyacht Miami experience at Island Gardens requires a separate ticket, priced at $125 for Thurs-Sun or $150 for Weds-Sun.

Or if you really want to push the boat out, you can buy a Windward VIP ticket for $375, which includes exclusive entry into the Windward VIP Clubs, a private concierge to book appointments, an open bar, food, and complimentary access to the Boat Show water taxi.

Which boats will be debuting at the 2024 Miami Boat Show?

The full line-up of boats making their debut at the 2024 Miami Boat Show is yet to be confirmed, but you can expect a wide range of world debuts from sportsboats to superyachts.

Miami Beach enacts $1,000 fines at boat ramp as live-aboard crackdown escalates

I n December, the city of Miami Beach cut off a lifeline for people who live on boats in Biscayne Bay when it removed a dock that they relied on to get food and water on shore. The goal, a city commissioner said at the time, was to “limit the amount of access of the people who live on these boats that come to the mainland.”

Now, the city has all but eliminated another access point for the community of about 100 live-aboards who anchor their sailboats in Sunset Harbour — the latest escalation in a battle between residents who say live-aboards pose a public nuisance and boat dwellers who say their civil rights are under attack.

A new ordinance , which received final approval from the City Commission late last month and took effect Aug. 3, declares that the boat ramp at Maurice Gibb Park in Sunset Harbour can only be used by city residents to “launch and retrieve noncommercial vessels” — not to dock boats, even temporarily, or pick up and drop off passengers.

Previously, motorized boats could dock at the ramp for 20 minutes. That time limit remains in place at a nearby floating dock for kayaks and paddleboards.

The law imposes steep penalties: $1,000 for a first offense, then $2,000 and $5,000 for a second and third offense, plus an option for criminal charges with up to 60 days in jail. The ordinance also calls for immediate towing of the offending boat, which can cost over $1,000 to retrieve from a private tow company.

The result has been a heightened sense of desperation and fear among live-aboards, many of whom had been relying on the Maurice Gibb ramp to tie up their dinghies and run quick errands following the December removal of a dock near Publix on Dade Boulevard about a half mile inland from Sunset Harbour.

Despite being legally anchored in Biscayne Bay, the boaters say their unique lifestyle is becoming increasingly untenable. In recent days, some have resorted to extreme measures to get to shore.

Carlos Leon, who organized the Miami Beach Boaters Association and has sparred for months with City Commissioner David Suarez over efforts to push live-aboards out of Miami Beach waters, has been anchoring his dinghy near Maurice Gibb Park and swimming to the floating dock while his wife Jana and their dog use a paddleboard.

In a video they shared with the Herald, a city code enforcement officer told Leon he had been at the ramp for more than 20 minutes and needed to leave.

“It may be legal, but is it humane?” Leon said of the city’s approach.

Elena Novikova, who has lived on a boat in Miami Beach with her husband and their daughter for nine years, said her family had been using the Maurice Gibb ramp for drop-offs and pickups from work and other tasks on shore.

Now, with drop-offs and pickups banned, Novikova said their only option is to tie up illegally along Collins Canal and climb the seawall. That has been a challenge for Novikova, who has a job on land and also lives with a 28-year-old daughter, Anastasia, who has Down syndrome.

“We have no space now for Anastasia to safely go to the shore,” she said. “Sometimes she just has to stay home.”

City goes after ‘boat squatters’

In May, Suarez pitched the Maurice Gibb Park proposal as a crackdown on commercial activity at the boat ramp. He presented video footage that showed boats frequently picking up and dropping off passengers on a Saturday, saying it was evidence of “constant illegal and unenforceable charter activities.”

Commercial uses of the boat ramp have been banned since 2016 .

“This boat ramp was intended as a residential boat launch — not a marina, not a parking lot, and certainly not a pickup and a drop-off hub,” Suarez said at the May commission meeting, adding that there are other locations where people can pay to park their boats. “We all pay our way to live in Miami Beach,” he said.

Leon said at the May meeting that the change would have the biggest effect on live-aboards.

“The consequence is we can’t get to land now,” he said. “Where are we going to park?”

Suarez declined to discuss the ordinance with the Herald. But at public meetings and on social media , he has made the case that live-aboards — whom he refers to as “boat squatters” — damage seagrass with their boat anchors, pollute the bay by dumping human waste and disrupt quality of life for residents on land with noise and litter. He has also flagged concerns about abandoned, “derelict” boats that languish in the bay.

Many of the boaters have pushed back, saying they are good neighbors committed to rooting out bad actors. They have pointed to an enforcement effort earlier this year to investigate whether waste was being improperly disposed from the boats, which resulted in only two citations among 39 vessels tested.

They also cite data from the nonprofit Surfrider Foundation that shows Sunset Harbour has lower fecal matter concentration than most other areas of Biscayne Bay.

But Suarez has the backing of a vocal contingent of Miami Beach residents, including neighborhood associations for Sunset Harbour and West Avenue and others who have complained about boaters coming ashore at the west end of Lincoln Road.

Commissioner Laura Dominguez voted against the Maurice Gibb regulations on first reading in May, raising concerns about the amount of the fines and the prospect of penalizing boaters who “live legally in our waters.”

But she said that, while she initially sought a compromise with the boaters after the removal of the Publix dock in December, it has since become clear that residents support the crackdown. Dominguez voted for the Maurice Gibb ordinance on second reading July 24.

“Our residents on land have gotten behind this ordinance, so it makes it hard to fight for the people on the boats when the people that are paying property taxes, are voting, are here day in and day out are so passionately supporting this,” Dominguez said in an interview.

“I’m a compassionate person. I care about people,” she said. “This one was really, really tough.”

‘Feel like we’re being hunted’

The new rules and strict enforcement are increasing the physical and legal risks that live-aboards are taking to get to land, including parking their boats illegally, climbing over seawalls and hiding dinghies in bushes.

After the removal of the dock near Publix on Dade Boulevard in December, the city installed new signage and cameras to enforce a ban on docking at public seawalls.

“I feel like we’re being hunted,” said Barbie Wynn, a retired firefighter who has been living on a boat in Miami Beach for three years.

Wynn said a friend has been dropping her off in a dinghy at the former site of the dock near Publix, where Wynn then climbs over the seawall and goes to get groceries.

But she said the new restrictions have prevented her from working part-time. Previously, she said, she worked at a TGI Fridays on Ocean Drive. After the Publix dock was removed, she sometimes resorted to sleeping on the Maurice Gibb Park dock when she got off work late and no one was available to pick her up.

“I don’t have anywhere to park my dinghy,” Wynn said. “It’s depressing. It’s hurtful. It makes you feel like you’re being discriminated against.”

Novikova said she feels “like a criminal” when she scales the Collins Canal seawall each day to go to work, defying “no trespassing” signs and “rangers and cameras everywhere to catch us.”

“Every time when I reach the shore, I just break the law,” she said.

In April, the live-aboards launched a GoFundMe campaign to hire a lawyer to sue the city for “violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, various state maritime laws” and the Americans with Disabilities Act. They have raised about $10,000 toward a $25,000 goal.

Andrew Dively, who lived on a boat in Miami Beach before recently moving to Jacksonville, said he believes the city is taking advantage of the boat dwellers’ lack of financial means.

The city knows “that the chances of the boaters having enough money to fight them in court is close to zero,” Dively said. “Their boat is one of the few things keeping them from being homeless on the streets of Miami.”

In 2016, as wealthy waterfront homeowners clashed with boaters anchored near the Sunset Islands, state law prohibited anchoring in certain areas of Miami Beach, including near the Sunset and Venetian islands. But boaters were still allowed to anchor in Sunset Harbour.

State legislation proposed earlier this year would have made it illegal to anchor within 200 yards of the shoreline, but that language was removed in the version that ultimately passed . For now, anchoring in Sunset Harbour remains legal.

Miami Beach officials have been working with the state to establish a mooring field , which would regulate, but not eliminate, anchoring in Sunset Harbour. But Dively said he questions whether that is the city’s true goal.

“A mooring field could be a humane solution if the city were to be reasonable with the fees,” he said. “But are you trying to build a mooring field? Or are you just trying to kick the boaters out?”

Maps show Tropical Storm Ernesto's path and forecast as it moves away from Bermuda

By Emily Mae Czachor , Kerry Breen

Updated on: August 17, 2024 / 11:21 PM EDT / CBS News

Tropical Storm Ernesto  was moving away from Bermuda Saturday after making landfall on the island as a Category 1 hurricane.

The British territory remained under a tropical storm warning Saturday evening after getting hit with heavy rains and powerful winds, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center reported in its latest advisory.

As of 11 p.m. EDT, Ernesto was centered about 140 miles northeast of Bermuda and was inching north-northeast at 6 miles per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph, the NHC said, a significant weakening from the 100 mph it reached Friday when it was at Category 2 hurricane status. Forecasters said Ernesto could regain hurricane strength Sunday, but would likely weaken before passing near southeastern Newfoundland late Monday.

Tropical Storm Ernesto

Swells fueled by Ernesto were forecast to cause "life-threatening surf and rip current conditions" on the East Coast of the U.S. and Atlantic Canada over the next couple of days, the hurricane center said.

Ernesto had strengthened from a tropical storm into a hurricane Wednesday morning while moving north of Puerto Rico, as forecasters had predicted. The hurricane center upgraded Ernesto once its maximum sustained winds reached 75 mph.

Ernesto knocked out power to about 72% of customers in Bermuda Saturday, according to utility provider Belco. The island was expected to see rain totals of up to 9 inches. Although the storm was moving away from Bermuda, tropical storm conditions were expected to persist for the island into late Saturday night, the hurricane center said.

Before making landfall in Bermuda, Ernesto brought heavy flooding to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands earlier in the week while gaining strength as it went through the Caribbean. Torrential downpours blanketed parts of Puerto Rico for much of Wednesday, dumping nearly 10 inches of rain, swelling rivers and flooding roads.

In the process, Ernesto knocked out power to about 750,000 homes and businesses in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico's electricity provider, LUMA Energy, said  about 101,000 customers still didn't have power as of Saturday night, a significant drop from when service outages peaked on Wednesday afternoon, the provider  said .

Hurricane Ernesto

According to the utility tracker PowerOutage.us, just over 3,400 customers in the U.S. Virgin Islands had no electricity Saturday night, down from a peak of about 46,000 on Wednesday.

Ernesto became the fifth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season when it formed Monday on a fast-moving path to the Caribbean. The storm came on the heels of Hurricane Debby , which lashed parts of the southeastern United States last week with disastrous flooding and severe weather that ultimately touched much of the East Coast. Ernesto isn't expected to strike the U.S. mainland, the hurricane center said.

Hurricane Erneso

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story reported 975,000 customers had lost power in Puerto Rico, but that was the number of customers who still had power, according to Puerto Rico's electricity provider.

Providence couple's Rolls-Royce look-alike boat is the talk of the water

by SAMANTHA READ, NBC 10 NEWS

A Providence couple is turning a lot of heads when it comes to their recent purchase. (WJAR)

WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) — A Providence couple is turning a lot of heads when it comes to their recent purchase.

Anita and Dawaye Ratchford have been together for more than 20 years.

The couple each have their own interests and personal hobbies.

“Mine is the ocean, and his is cars," said Anita.

Anita is a Pisces. She said she's always loved being on the water and participating in anything related to it.

Dawayne has always loved cars. He works on them in his free time, and he's very handy.

With a love for both, Dawayne had an idea to purchase a boat that looked like a car.

Dawayne said his research led him to a company that produced just that.

“I honestly was looking into it because I’m into cars, she’s into water, so I honestly wanted to find something that fits both of us," he said. "I saw these and did a lot of research and they're built in Turkey but in Miami for sale."

Dawayne purchased a Watercraft Sports Car.

It cost a pretty penny, but it was an investment Anita said was worth it.

“Together 20-something years, I support anything he does. I'm kind of like a car girl now too, plus, I love the water too so why not? I’m just a passenger princess," she said.

The exterior is an almost identical replica of a dark blue Rolls-Royce with leopard print trim.

It's a boat, made similarly to the car, except it's only for water.

“People are confused. They want to know if it drives on the road or water, so I have to keep explaining it’s just for the water and it’s a boat," he said. “It has a gas pedal. Gas and reverse just like a car.”

Two months ago, Dawayne traveled to Florida to pick up the boat.

He hauled it back to Rhode Island in a trailer and did some of his own work on it.

“As far as the radio, the AC, anything else that I wanted, I added a convertible roof too, just things that I like, to make it mine," he said.

The boat can reach up to 70 mph.

It seats four people comfortably and has an interior similar to that of a sports car.

“It moves fast like a Jet Ski, and it’s comfortable like a boat," he said. “You have to feel it to enjoy it. You have to be in it to feel it to understand it.”

Since launching their boat into the water, hundreds of people who catch a glimpse of it can't believe their eyes.

Dozens have taken or posed for pictures with it.

“All different kinds of reactions, a lot of good ones. We never see the negative ones, but we hear them on social media, but it’s alright we’re having fun," said Anita.

"I’m enjoying that’s all that matters," added Dawayne. "It's different than what everybody else is riding, and driving, so I just like to be different.”

The Ratchfords said to their knowledge, they're the only ones with a boat like theirs, on the water, in the Ocean State.

“I really don’t like the attention but then I do. It’s bittersweet," said Anita.

“This is different. Everything else I have is on land, but this is for the water and for her. I can take her out, be on the water, and still be in a car," said Dawayne.
