Can You Take Water Transportation From The Yacht Club?

There is no direct water transportation from the Yacht Club to the Animal Kingdom park. Guests staying at the Yacht Club can use bus services or other transportation options mentioned below to reach Animal Kingdom. Water transportation at the resort connects select resorts to nearby theme parks and Disney Springs, but Animal Kingdom is not accessible via water routes due to the Animal Kingdom park’s remote location and the layout of the waterways. To get to Animal Kingdom from the Yacht Club, use the complimentary bus service provided by Disney, which is specifically designed to transport guests between different parts of the resort, including Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and theme parks.

Can You Take The Monorail From The Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom Park?

Unfortunately, the Yacht Club is not connected to the Monorail and the Monorail does not serve Animal Kingdom park. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t ride the Monorail during your stay! The monorail connects select destinations such as the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and nearby resorts, but not the Yacht Club or Animal Kingdom. During your visit make plans and reservations for dining at one of the resorts that on the Monorail line and you can use the Monorail to travel for your evening out! The monorail connects several opening-day resorts — the Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian — where you can experience the Resort Monorail. This travel method requires you to first take a bus from the Yacht Club to one of these hotels.

Remember, while the resorts connected via the Resort Monorail provide easy access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, you will still need to use a bus or other Disney transportation options to reach Animal Kingdom. It’s important to plan for additional travel time due to transfers.

  • Contemporary Resort: Here, the monorail glides through the main concourse. You can enjoy this experience by transferring from a Yacht Club bus.
  • Polynesian Village Resort: The monorail station here is a short stroll from the main lobby. After arriving by bus, you can travel to other theme parks or resorts on the monorail loop.
  • Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: This Victorian-style hotel is another stop on the Resort Monorail. Guests can switch from bus to monorail for a scenic route around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Travel Tip: If you’re looking for the most efficient route to Animal Kingdom, it is to stay on the bus service directly linking the Yacht Club Resort to the park.

Can You Take The Disney Skyliner From The Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom park?

You cannot take the Disney Skyliner from the Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom Park. The Disney Skyliner is an aerial gondola system that connects select Walt Disney World Resort hotels with EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Yacht Club Resort, while being in proximity to Epcot, does not have a direct Skyliner route to Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom is not served by the Disney Skyliner system.

However, you can use it to visit several other locations originating near Disney’s Yacht Club Resort area at the EPCOT International Gateway station.

While the Disney Skyliner does not provide direct service to Animal Kingdom, it does connect EPCOT and Hollywood Studios directly, with interchange routes to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort , Pop Century Resort, and Riviera Resort. To reach Animal Kingdom, you will disembark at the Hollywood Studios station and use a bus or other ground transportation options.

Walking Paths

No, despite the great ambitions of some of you to see how many steps you can get in, you cannot walk from the Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom Park. The distances between the Walt Disney World Resort hotels and the theme parks can be quite substantial, and the layout of the roads, as well as the natural geography of the area, do not support pedestrian access from the Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom. The resort is designed with specific pathways for walking and biking primarily within and between nearby resorts or attractions, not for long-distance travel across the entire property. Animal Kingdom is located several miles away from the Yacht Club, making walking impractical and unsafe due to the lack of designated pedestrian paths over such distances and the heavy vehicular traffic. Guests looking to travel from the Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom are encouraged to use the complimentary bus service or other Disney transportation options provided for convenience and safety.

Ride-Sharing Services

Ride-sharing services are transportation options that allow travelers to book a ride through a mobile application, which connects them with drivers who use their personal vehicles to take passengers to their desired locations. At Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, you will find that both Uber and Lyft operate as popular ride-sharing options. These services offer a convenient and efficient way for you to travel from the resort to Animal Kingdom, another theme park, or various attractions within the Disney World area.

To use ride-sharing services, follow these steps:

For guests traveling to Orlando International Airport, ride-sharing can be a cost-effective and straightforward travel option. The price for a ride varies based on the time of day, traffic conditions, and the type of vehicle you select. During peak times, when the demand for ride-shares increases, rates may be higher due to surge pricing. Remember to consider your travel budget and plan accordingly.

  • Cost : As a guest of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, standard self-parking at the resort is included in your stay at no additional charge.
  • Transportation Options : In addition to driving, you have several complimentary transportation options to Disney parks, including bus service and boat transportation, which can enhance your experience by alleviating the need to drive and park at the parks.
  • Disney Park Parking : When driving to Animal Kingdom, remember that standard parking at the theme park is not complimentary and is subject to a parking fee unless you are a Disney World Annual Passholder.
  • Arrival : Arrive early to ensure the best parking spots and to reduce travel time to the park entrance.
  • Remember Your Spot : Make a note of your parking section at Animal Kingdom to facilitate an effortless return to your car after a day of adventure.

Should you choose to use your personal vehicle throughout your stay, you’ll enjoy the ease of complimentary parking at the resort and have the choice to pay for parking at the Disney parks, unless other free parking options apply to you.

Transportation Options and Tips for Disney’s Yacht Club (The Expert’s Guide)

Staying at Disney’s Yacht Club means you’ll have access to several modes of transportation from the resort. But what is the most efficient way to get from the resort to where you’re going? We’ve got the answers. Below, we’ll discuss every transportation tip you need to know for planning a vacation at Disney’s Yacht Club. We have stayed at this resort countless times and know all the ins and outs!

We recommend reviewing this entire guide in preparation for your trip. Then save it if you need a quick reference while on-site.

Can you imagine sitting at a bus stop at Walt Disney World and waiting for a bus that’s not coming? I would be willing to bet that scenario happens daily at Disney’s Yacht Club. Over the years, we’ve often witnessed guests waiting at the bus stop for a bus to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. Sometimes, they’ve been waiting a while. Other times, they get to the bus stop, start looking at the wait signs, and immediately realize they’ve made an error.

Time is precious at Walt Disney World, and while we can’t control how long we have to wait for anything, we can learn how to use transportation to our advantage. So let’s learn how to navigate our ship, in this case–the little Friendship boats that dock immediately behind the resort!

Disney’s Yacht Club Transportation Options

The following forms of transportation are available at Disney’s Yacht Club:

  • Friendship Boats
  • Disney’s Bus Service
  • Skyliner (within walking distance)

*You can also walk to two theme parks from the resort, which we’ll discuss in more detail below.

Disney’s Yacht Club to Magic Kingdom

For Magic Kingdom, you’ll want to take the bus. Yacht Club’s bus stop is conveniently outside the resort’s front doors.

Disney’s Yacht Club shares its bus service with Disney’s Beach Club, its sister resort. So when you board the bus at the Yacht Club, you’ll stop at the Beach Club. After that, you’ll continue to the park.

Disney’s Yacht Club is the first stop when returning to the resort from Magic Kingdom. So you’ll be at an advantage on the return trip.

Disney's Yacht Club bus to Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Yacht Club to Epcot

You can get to Epcot from Disney’s Yacht Club in two ways. Since Disney’s Yacht Club is part of the Epcot Resorts Area , you are within short walking distance of Epcot.

#1 Walking to Epcot from the Yacht Club

How short is the walk to Epcot? Most will be able to walk out the back door of the Yacht Club and arrive at Epcot’s International Gateway in less than 10 minutes.

When you exit the resort’s lobby (on the resort side), you’ll take a left at the lighthouse and continue straight until you reach Epcot. As you can see from the picture below, it’s a gorgeous walk along stunning Crescent Lake.

Walkway next to the water from Disney's Yacht Club to Epcot

#2 Taking a Friendship Boat to Epcot from the Yacht Club

Alternatively, you can continue straight to the lighthouse when you exit the Yacht Club. You can board one of Disney’s Friendship Boats and take it to Epcot from there. However, the boats take longer than walking.

The boat departs Yacht Club and continues across the lake to Disney’s Boardwalk. There, it will stop and unload before continuing to Epcot. This route takes approximately 15 minutes. You’ll board on the left-hand side of the dock if you decide to take the boat to Epcot.

Yacht Club to Epcot via Boat Service

Disney’s Yacht Club to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Similar to traveling to Epcot, you’ll have two options for traveling to Disney’s Hollywood Studios from the Yacht Club.

#1 Walking to Hollywood Studios from the Yacht Club

First, you can walk to Hollywood Studios. However, I would caution that you know the length of the walk. We’ve mapped it, and it’s approximately 1.25 miles between Disney’s Yacht Club and Hollywood Studios.

This is one of our favorite “long” walks at the Walt Disney World Resort, but it’s not for everybody. Some days, it’s not even for us, especially when the sun is beating down so much that you might have two seconds to enjoy an ice cream cone before the entire thing turns into a–happy snowman.

That said, the serene walk is one of the best ways to escape crowds on the way back to the resort. Take it slow and allow yourself to decompress.

#2 Taking a Friendship Boat to Hollywood Studios from Yacht Club

When taking the boat to Hollywood Studios, you’ll want to board on the right-hand side of the dock. On this route, you’ll stop at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Hotel to load and unload. Then, you’ll continue to Hollywood Studios.

Disney Yacht Club Boat Service

Disney’s Friendship Boats are a pleasant way to travel. There is one row of exterior seats on the back of each boat, but most of the seating is inside. So, if you get in line early, you might be able to snag a seat outside.

On the return trip from Hollywood Studios, you’ll stop at the Swan and Dolphin before arriving at the Yacht Club. If you want to learn more, we have a complete guide that discusses  Disney’s Friendship Boat routes .

Boat to Hollywood Studios from the Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom

You’ll take a bus from the Yacht Club to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It takes approximately 15 minutes to travel from the resort to Animal Kingdom. However, loading and unloading can take extra time when you stop at the Beach Club. Again, you’ll be the first stop on the return trip.

Disney Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Yacht Club to Disney Springs

You’ll also need to take a bus from Disney’s Yacht Club to Disney Springs. On our last visit, this was the longest route because the bus stopped at the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk.

While this isn’t always the case, I wanted to mention it because the resorts may share buses during slower parts of the day. Regardless, you’ll be the first stop on the return trip from Disney Springs.

Yacht Club to Disney Springs

Accessibility at Disney’s Yacht Club

Most transportation options at Disney’s Yacht Club accommodate guests with accessibility needs. Disney provides an overview of each form of transportation on their website.

All bus stops have a separate spot for guests in wheelchairs and ECVs to wait. Additionally, the Friendship Boats accommodate most wheelchairs and ECVs. Disney has an excellent resource on their site if you want to learn more: Transportation and Mobility Disabilities at Disney World

Bus stops have a marker for guests in wheelchairs and ECVS.

Disney’s Yacht Club to Typhoon Lagoon

You’ll have to take a bus from the Yacht Club to Disney Springs to reach Typhoon Lagoon. At Disney Springs, you’ll board a transfer bus to Typhoon Lagoon.

You will return this same way. However, when you return to Disney Springs at the end of the day, you’ll have to locate the bus stop for Yacht Club.

Previously, Disney offered direct bus service to and from the resorts to the water parks. If this changes, signage at the bus stop will indicate which bus to take.

You may notice in the photo below under Typhoon Lagoon it says, “Take the Disney Springs bus and transfer.” You’ll want to confirm this when you arrive at the Yacht Club’s bus stop.

Transfer bus to Typhoon Lagoon from the Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club to Blizzard Beach

You’ll also take a transfer bus to Blizzard Beach. However, you’ll take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for this water park. When you exit the Disney’s Animal Kingdom bus, you’ll board a transfer bus to Blizzard Beach.

On return, you’ll take a bus from Blizzard Beach to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You’ll have to locate Disney’s Yacht Club’s bus stop from there.

Side note: When we stay at Disney’s Yacht Club, we typically like to spend an entire resort day at Stormalong Bay . So we rarely visit the water parks.

However, driving to the water parks is much easier (or taking a car service) than using the buses. While the transfer buses aren’t the end of the world, they are a pain. That’s especially true when everyone is tired at the end of the day, and you’ve got wet swimsuits in tow, among other things.

distance from the bus stop to the Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club to Disney’s Boardwalk (and Epcot Resorts)

Those staying at Disney’s Beach Club will likely visit Disney’s Boardwalk Inn at least once during their vacation. Disney’s Boardwalk has several excellent restaurants. We have a list with an overview of the restaurants at Disney’s Boardwalk if you want to learn more.

You’ll have two options for getting to the Boardwalk. First, you can walk. It takes about 10 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Or you can take the Friendship Boat (on the Epcot side) and exit at the Boardwalk. This will only take a few minutes, depending on how long you wait for the boat.

You can also walk or boat to the Swan and Dolphin Hotel. If you’re visiting the Swan Reserve, you can still walk. But if you boat, you’ll exit at the Swan and Dolphin and then walk to the Swan Reserve.

Since Disney’s Beach Club Resort is connected to the Yacht Club via an indoor/outdoor walkway, you can easily walk back and forth between them. If it’s raining on the walk back from Epcot, you’ll want to enter the Beach Club’s lobby and take the covered walkway back to the Yacht Club.

view of Disney's Boardwalk from the Yacht Club's boat dock

Disney’s Yacht Club to the Monorail Resorts

Additionally, most guests will want to visit the  monorail resorts  for dining or touring. You can take a bus from Disney’s Yacht Club to Magic Kingdom to do this.

From there, you will have to walk through security at Magic Kingdom. Then you can walk, boat, or monorail to the following resorts:

  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (walk, boat, monorail)
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (boat, monorail, technically can  walk via the Grand Floridian walkway to Magic Kingdom)
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort (walk or monorail)

Disney’s Yacht Club to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness

If you want to visit Fort Wilderness or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you can take a bus to Magic Kingdom. You’ll then take a boat from Magic Kingdom to either resort.

Of course, these are not the only ways to travel back and forth to the above-mentioned resorts. You could always take a boat or walk to Hollywood Studios and then board a bus to any of those resorts as long as it’s within the park’s operating hours.

Boat Service at Disney World

Disney’s Yacht Club to the Skyliner Resorts

Additionally, at some point, you might want to ride the Disney Skyliner or visit the Skyliner Resorts. Skyliner stations are available near the entrance of Hollywood Studios and at the Epcot’s International Gateway .

Epcot will be the nearest location to Disney’s Yacht Club. From there, the Skyliner travels in this order:

  • Epcot International Gateway
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach

At Disney’s Caribbean Beach, you must exit the Skyliner and reboard another line to one of the following:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation and Pop Century
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Or you could always return to Disney’s Riviera and Epcot.

Skyliner station near Disney's Yacht Club

Yacht Club to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

For visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, we usually take a bus from the Yacht Club to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Then, we’ll take a bus from the Animal Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Note that the bus makes two stops at the Lodge. The first is Kidani Village, and the second is Jambo House. You’ll want to know which location is your intended destination.

You can also boat or walk to Hollywood Studios and take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

yacht club to animal kingdom

Disney’s Yacht Club to the Disney Springs Resorts

If you would like to visit one of the resorts near Disney Springs, you can take a bus from the Yacht Club to Disney Springs. You’ll have these options:

  • Walk or take a water taxi from the Disney Springs Marketplace to Disney’s Saratoga Springs
  • Take a water taxi from the Disney Springs Marketplace to Old Key West Resort, Port Orleans-French Quarter, or Port Orleans-Riverside.

If you do not want to walk across Disney Springs and boat to these resorts, an alternative would be to take a boat to Hollywood Studios (during hours of operation) and then take a bus to that resort.

Airport to Disney’s Yacht Club

Lastly, when traveling from the Orlando International Airport (MCO), you’ll need to arrange transportation to the resort. Disney no longer offers transportation between the airport and the Walt Disney World Resort.

Tip: If you need to travel outside of complimentary transportation hours, you can order a car service (e.g., Lyft, Uber, Taxi, or Minnie Van). We try to avoid the extra expense as much as possible. But if we had late dining reservations or something comparable, we would take a car service back to our hotel.

Hi, I'm Amber the owner of Resorts Gal . We have stayed at every single Disney Resort Hotel. Our philosophy? We believe you can have an incredible time at the resorts without ever setting foot in a theme park. We visit the resorts and parks regularly and would love for you to follow along!

Wonderful , concise advice! My family of 6 will be staying at the Disney Yacht Club for 5 days beginning Nov 7…our 1st visit to Disneyworld! Coming from Massachusetts we will be arriving at Orlando @ 10am and would like to take transport all together to resort. How can we reserve transportation from airport to Yacht Club?

Thank you! Many people use Mears Connect, a bus service from the airport to Disney: https://www.mearsconnect.com/

You could also use a private car service to get to and from the airport.

Thank you for all detailed information. But I realized that we won’t have many options coming from After Hour at Hollywood Studios. We’ll probably drive a car, if we don’t want to walk at 1am.

You are welcome! We walked back to the Yacht Club when we did After Hours. I didn’t know it at the time, but was told later that bus service is provided to Beach, Yacht, and Boardwalk at the end of After Hours. I assume it starts after the boats finish.

Yacht Club Highlights:

  • Great location! The Yacht Club is walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (which is also easily accessible by boat or Skyliner.)
  • Stormalong Bay! This gorgeous water complex includes a sand bottom pool, pirate slide, and lazy river.
  • A diner’s paradise! In addition to two theme parks, the Yacht Club is also walking distance to the Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, and Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. Being so close to four additional deluxe resorts provides extensive dining and entertainment options.

What is the Yacht Club like?

The Yacht Club (YC) is a five-story, 630 room resort, slightly larger than its sister resort, the Beach Club (BC), located along the shore of Crescent Lake, opposite the Boardwalk Resort . Themed after seaside New England hotels of the late 1800s, the Yacht Club has a stately, nautical look and feel; hardwood floors and brass accents enhance this feeling. Guests staying at both the Yacht Club and Beach Club have the exclusive use of Stormalong Bay, a 750,000 gallon pool/mini-water park complete with water slide, sandy bottom, whirlpools, and water currents.

Why stay at the Yacht Club?

Three very important reasons: Location, Location, Location. The Yacht Club is one of the most conveniently located resorts on Disney’s property. The Yacht Club is within walking distance of Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk, the Swan, and the Dolphin hotels. If you don’t feel like walking you can choose a short boat ride to any of these places instead.

If you like fine dining, you will be in the center of it all. Not only do the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk all have terrific choices, you are also just minutes away from the international flavor of Epcot’s World Showcase. If you like to swim, one of the best hotel pools, Stormalong Bay, is right under your nose. There are several other recreational activities available at the Yacht Club (described below).

Transportation – How do I get there from here?

  • EPCOT – EPCOT can be easily reached by foot via a short 10-minute walk along the water way leading to Epcot’s International Gateway. If walking isn’t for you, there is a boat to ferry guests from all the Epcot resorts (Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club) to the International Gateway, but the walk is faster and a bit more scenic. To board the boat, simply exit the lobby on the rear side of the hotel and walk straight down to the dock – just look for the lighthouse. Be sure you’re in the Epcot line (left side facing the water), not Disney’s Hollywood Studios line (right side facing the water) line.Epcot resort guests CAN use the International Gateway entrance to Epcot even though World Showcase may not yet be open for the day. Cast members will help usher you toward Future World in Epcot. The International Gateway also offers full-service ticketing and purchasing of annual passes. The guest services window usually opens 30 minutes prior to park opening.

  • You can take a leisurely 15 to 20 minute one-mile stroll along the path that follows the waterway connecting the Epcot resort area with the Hollywood Studios.
  • Take the Friendship boat f rom the right side of the boat dock. You can meet the boat at the dock just as you would the boat for Epcot, by exiting the rear of the hotel and walking straight down to the lighthouse. Again, make sure you catch the right boat. The CMs will surely let you know which boat you’re getting on. The boat usually stops by the Swan and Dolphin and Boardwalk via the Studios. The trip takes about 20 minutes.
  • Take the Disney Skyliner. Walk to International Gateway and climb aboard the most Magical Flight on Earth! You will need to transfer to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Caribbean Beach Station.

yacht club to animal kingdom

  • Magic Kingdom – The Magic Kingdom can be reached by taking a bus from the front of the hotel. Another longer, but more scenic, journey is to take the monorail from Epcot’s front entrance, transfer at the TTC, and then continue to the MK. Traveling this way does take some time and some walking, but you get to see a little bit more, and it lends to resort hopping if the mood strikes. Keep in mind this route will likely taste at least an hour.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be reached by taking a bus from the front of the hotel.

yacht club to animal kingdom

  • Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, and Disney Springs – Buses take you directly from the hotel to these locations after picking up passengers from the Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn. Travel times vary to each of these locations, but many of these attractions are relatively close to the Yacht Club, so you never have to wait too long.

Note that when using the buses, they will usually stop at the Beach Club; however sometimes it will also stop at the Boardwalk, the Swan and the Dolphin resorts. The tends to happen during the middle of the day or during low crowd times.

  • Disney’s Boardwalk – The Boardwalk faces the Yacht and Beach Clubs on the opposite side of Crescent Lake. There are two foot bridges, one in the direction of the Swan/Dolphin hotels, and one in the direction of Epcot, allowing you to walk to this entertainment complex and hotel.
  • For all other locations, including Fort Wilderness , and resort hotels, buses to Disney Springs will allow you to connect with other transportation to your final destination. You can also take the monorail from the Future World side of Epcot to reach the TTC. Travel times vary widely here. You can time it just right and have a short, efficient trip, or have a trip lasting over  an hour. Hope for the best! Hint: When in a hurry, it usually takes only 5 minutes to get a taxi. Go to the valet station at the front of the Yacht Club and they will call a taxi for you. Trips to destinations on property range in cost from $16 to $24. For example, the typical taxi fare from the Yacht Club to the Grand Floridian costs about $20 (not including tip). It’s usually significantly cheaper to take a Rideshare such as an Uber or Lyft from the front of the Yacht Club to anywhere on property.

What are the rooms like?

Most rooms feature two queen-size beds, a table and chairs, color TV w/remote, a ceiling fan, double sinks in the dressing area, and refrigerator. Some rooms have a daybed that will accommodate the maximum 5 guests allowed per room at the Yacht Club. There are also pet friendly rooms. Of the 539 regular guest rooms at the Yacht Club, 483 rooms have queen-sized beds, 56 rooms have king-sized beds, and there are 10 disabled access rooms. Most rooms have a balcony that have a table and two chairs. Standard Rooms are for all guests, including Concierge Club. Deluxe rooms are larger and are only available on the Concierge level.

yacht club to animal kingdom

The rooms at the Yacht Club have been thoughtfully stocked with many extras. Rooms have a small safe, located in the closet, in which you can store your valuables such as jewelry, airline tickets, passports, travelers’ checks, etc. For bigger items, storage facilities may be available at the front desk.

Another nice feature is having the bathtub/toilet separated from the rest of the room. The double sinks are located outside the true “bathroom.” In the vanity area, you will find a hair dryer, as well as a make-up mirror mounted on the wall.

yacht club to animal kingdom

The Yacht Club does have a Club Level and club-level/service rooms. All Club Level rooms are located on the hotel’s 5th floor, which requires your Magic Band to gain entry from the elevator. There are 71 concierge suites and 20 “true” suites in a variety of sizes. See the Concierge page for more information about the concierge level.

Walt Disney World Resort has complimentary Wi-Fi service available in all of its hotels and parks. See our Internet Access page for details.

A room with a view, but which one?

There are three views available: The Standard view, the Garden or Woods view, and the Lagoon or pool view.

Standard view rooms overlook the garden, rooftop or parking areas around the hotel. Garden or Woods view rooms typically overlook the slightly nicer areas around the quiet pool, or even the wedding gazebo. Lagoon or pool view rooms have a direct view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. Some of the Lagoon or Pool view rooms are located just above Stormalong Bay and may be a bit noisy during the day. Note also that not all Lagoon or Pool view rooms offer a direct view of the lake and the Boardwalk. Many are at right angles to the lake, making it often difficult or impossible to see the Boardwalk. If you should book a Lagoon or Pool view room, don’t be disappointed if you don’t have a direct view of the lake.

Can I Bring My Pet to Stay at the Yacht Club?

Walt Disney World has four hotels pet-friendly, one of which is Disney’s Yacht Club. Read our page on Pet-Friendly Hotel Rooms for more details.

Pets may also be boarded at the Best Friends Pet Care kennel across from Port Orleans Riverside.

Are there smoking and nonsmoking rooms?

All Disney resorts and guest rooms are smoke free . There are designated outdoor smoking areas. Check the resort map or with a Cast Member for locations.

yacht club to animal kingdom

What are the prices for a room?

The Yacht Club is considered a “Deluxe” resort hotel, and its prices are among the more expensive offered at Disney. These are regular rate prices and do not include the Florida Sales Tax nor the county resort tax. Most rooms have a maximum five-person occupancy per room. Prices are per room, and there is an additional adult charge of $25 per adult per night for more than two adults in a room.

Walt Disney World Resort rates vary by season (there are nine seasons now), and also by day of the week. The holiday season is the most expensive time of the year. It runs from mid-December to early January as well as during Easter Week.

The rates for a: — Standard View Room range from $443 – $762 — Garden or Woods View Room range from $484 – $787                                     — Lagoon or Pool View Room range from $561 – $851 — Club Level Standard View Room range from $661 – $1,052 — Club Level Garden View Room range from $676 – $1,075 — Club Level Pool or Lagoon View room range from $771 – $1,197 — Suites range from $1,863 – $3,071

yacht club to animal kingdom

Are there any discounts?

There are many ways to save a few dollars on your accommodations at WDW. Disney offers several resort “seasons” throughout the year including a Value Season. Annual Passholders can save by visiting during annual Passholder specials. Florida residents get a break for living in the same state as the Mouse. Don’t forget holidays are the most expensive time to visit, along with most of the summer. Generally, planning your trip during the off-season can save you money right off the bat.

Please visit our Discount Summary Page for more information.

I hear that there are no more room key cards at Disney resort hotels. How do I get into my room?

Walt Disney World has converted their room keys and admission tickets from plastic cards to MagicBands, flexible plastic wristbands, resembling a watch or bracelet, that use Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Your MagicBand is linked to your My Disney Experience (MDE) account and acts as your Disney resort room key. Simply touch the Mickey symbol on your MagicBand to the RFID reader near your room door to gain entry. Read about using MagicBands for park admission, FastPass+ and more.

The Rapid Fill beverage program allows Disney Resort guests to buy (or receive as part of the Disney Dining Plan) a resort mug that can be refilled for a certain period of time as designated at time of purchase. These mugs are enhanced by an RFID bar code that enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete.

I want to swim!

The Yacht Club has one of the best, if not the best swimming pools (at a hotel) in all of Walt Disney World. Stormalong Bay is a three-acre water playground shared between the Yacht Club and the Beach Club. It’s a great place to have fun or just relax. Stormalong Bay has many different sections that encompass its 750,000 gallons of water. There are shallow wading areas for the younger ones, complete with sand bottoms. There are also larger and deeper areas, some with sand, some without.

yacht club to animal kingdom

A “shipwreck” on the shore of Crescent Lake provides the entrance to an exciting water slide for the adventurous folks. There is a circular area in Stormalong Bay with water jets that create a current. All you have to do is float. the water will move you along! All around Stormalong Bay are lounge chairs where you can relax and catch some rays. Among other things, you’ll find a waterfall and a couple of hot tubs hidden amongst the scenery. Note, however, that life jackets cannot be worn when using the water slide. The water slide includes an enclosed tube and a child with a life jacket can get stuck. If your child requires the use of a life jacket, you can request to use the pool and slide at the Boardwalk Inn.

yacht club to animal kingdom

There is a quiet pool at the Yacht Club, found on the far end of the hotel away from the noise and excitement. The pool is located on the front/side of the hotel farthest from the Beach Club and closest to the Swan/Dolphin. There is also a hot tub in the same area as the quiet pool. These facilities are open 24 hours, as long as you are quiet! You can also use the quiet pool/hot tub on the Beach Club side of things. This pool is located on the back side of the Beach Club, closest to Epcot. You may see this area if you walk the path to Epcot. There is a third pool (and hot tub) located at the Beach Club Villas; guests of the Yacht Club are welcome to use it as well.

What other recreation is available at the Yacht Club?

Be sure to request the Recreational Activities flyer . There may be activities like Water Volleyball, Campfire Sing-along, or Movie Under the Stars.

yacht club to animal kingdom

If swimming isn’t for you, there are plenty of other activities available at the Yacht Club. Tennis is available on a lit court located by the Admiral Pool. I need to shop! OR — I forgot to pack something real important!

The Yacht Club’s all-purpose store is The Market at Ale and Compass.   This store offers a small but comprehensive collection of clothing, character merchandise, and sundries.

Need your clothes cleaned?

If you need to wash your clothes during your stay at the Yacht Club, laundry facilities are located adjacent to the quiet pool area located on the far front side of the hotel, closer to the Swan/Dolphin hotels. Likewise there are laundry facilities at the quiet pool of the Beach Club.

If you need something dry cleaned or pressed, you’ll find a card detailing services and costs in your room upon check-in. An iron and ironing board are located in most guest rooms. If your room does not have these items, they can be obtained free of charge by contacting housekeeping.

Babysitting, Childcare, Children’s Programs

There is no child care activity center at this resort. For child care alternatives, visit our Child Care FAQ.

Does the Yacht Club have a Convention Center?

Yes, the Yacht and Beach Clubs share a convention center that has 73,000 square feet of meeting and function space, that can accommodate both large and small events.

How do I use valet parking?

Simply drive your vehicle to the front of the resort and a Cast Member will park it for you. Valet parking is $33 per car for the day, even if you are staying at the Yacht Club. Don’t forget to tip the valet (both the one who takes your car and the one who brings it back to you – $1-2 is recommended) When you need to retrieve your vehicle, simply give the valet your slip of paper you were given when the car was parked, and your car will be delivered to the front of the hotel. When you are ready to get your car, call the valet stand from your room and ask for your car to be brought around. If you pay for valet at one Disney resort hotel, you can use valet at the other hotels – just tell them you are paying at the Yacht Club. The Disney resorts contract out valet services, so you are dealing with a 3rd party, not Disney employed cast members.

Does the Yacht Club have a Security Gate?

Yes, the Yacht Club complex has a guarded security gate. Upon initial arrival, simply explain to the guard you are checking in. Once you have checked in, your Magic Band will also serve to open the security gates (pull on the right side to activate the guest gate). Be sure to have your Magic Band ready when reentering through the security gate. During busy times ONLY Yacht Club resort guests may be allowed to enter the parking area.

Tips and Tricks: What else you should know about the Yacht Club:

Need a new ‘do, or just a haircut? Ship Shape Spa and Salon is located between the YC and BC, next to the health club, is the place to go. It is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m., daily. Services offered include: hair and nail services, massages and facials. Appointments are strongly recommended, call (407) WDW-SPAS or (407) 939-7727 to book.

Are you a couple on a romantic getaway? Ask for a room overlooking the wedding gazebo (a garden view room). If you’re lucky, from your balcony you’ll be able to hear and see a magical Disney wedding take place. Quite a romantic/reminiscent experience.

Plunk a few quarters in the slots at Lafferty Place Arcade where you’ll find a selection of exciting video games.

Parking – – there is a lot where you park your car. It’s a long walk from your room to the car, unless you want to pay for valet parking.

Yacht Club vs. Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney World Resort Guide 2023

By Wendy Leave a Comment

There are a LOT of options (well over 20 , in fact!) when it comes to choosing your Resort hotel for your Disney World vacation .

yacht club to animal kingdom

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Do you prefer being on “Island Time” or would you rather go back in time ? Are you looking for whimsical surroundings or are you considering something more sophisticated ? Would you like to stay near Magic Kingdom or perhaps closer to EPCOT ?

With so many choices, we’ve found it helpful to take things one at a time. Well, okay… technically we’re taking things TWO at a time as we compare TWO Disney World Resort hotels to help you get an idea of which might be right for you . So here we’re exploring both Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort .

We’re going to tackle this topic with help from  a few chosen categories: Common Ground, Theme/Rooms, Pools, Food,  and  Transportation . Let’s go!

Common Ground

So,  what do Animal Kingdom Lodge and Yacht Club Resort share in common ? For starters, they both fall into the highest category of Disney Resort hotels.  Categories are Value, Moderate, and Deluxe , and  both of these are Deluxe Resorts , so room sizes and guest perks are fairly comparable. (For instance, both are eligible for  Extended Evening Hours held at select theme parks on select nights, as this perk is exclusive to Deluxe Resort guests.)

yacht club to animal kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Both offer close proximity to at least one of Disney World’s four theme parks : Animal Kingdom Lodge is closest to…  wait for it …  Disney’s Animal Kingdom . 😉 The Yacht Club Resort is closest to EPCOT , and also boasts a walking path to Disney’s Hollywood Studios .

yacht club to animal kingdom

Stroll by the water on your way to EPCOT

Prices for both of these Resorts are in a similar range; however,  you’ll find that Animal Kingdom Lodge is the slightly less costly option overall:

For the Yacht Club , for the cheapest  room at the  cheapest  time to visit, you can expect to pay around  $537 per night  (not accounting for any tax or current discounts), and it goes up to  $3,877 per night  (not accounting for any tax or current discounts) for the  most expensive  rooms at the  most expensive time to visit. (Based on 2023 rates.)

For the  Animal Kingdom Lodge , for the cheapest room at the cheapest time to visit, you can expect to pay around $469 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts), and it goes up to $3,792 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts) for the most expensive rooms at the most expensive time to visit. (Based on 2023 rates.)

For standard rooms, guests may choose a Standard View, a Water View, or a Garden View.

Though there is an option for a Suite, we should note here that the Yacht Club does not offer Disney Vacation Club Villas (even though its sister Resort, Beach Club , does). So that is one difference from…

Disney’s gorgeous  Animal Kingdom Lodge  is unlike any other in Walt Disney World — or anywhere else, for that matter. What truly sets this Resort apart are the  over 200 animals and birds  that  call the savannas of Animal Kingdom Lodge “home!”

yacht club to animal kingdom

As Disney shares, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge invites you into the “heart of Africa,” with four savannas housing over 200 hoofed animals from over 30 species and birds offering a truly stunning and unique feature of the Resort.

Many activities offered at the Resort are entirely unique to Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Guests have several opportunities to interact with Cultural Representatives and Animal Specialists in fun, family-friendly programming .

Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort Activities

While the savannas alone offer plenty of reasons to enjoy the Resort’s outdoor settings, the Resort also presents  “one of the largest collections of African art in the United States,”  according to Disney.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge features  standard guest rooms and Villas  in the main building,  Jambo Hous e, along with  options for rooms featuring Savanna views , as well as rooms with  Club Level Concierge services . Animal Kingdom Lodge also offers  Disney Vacation Club accommodations at Kidani Village , with villas ranging from basic studio rooms all the way up to multi-room villas  overlooking their own animal savanna.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Standard Room

Though not all rooms offer savanna views, many guests are thrilled to book this unique option, enjoying their morning coffee while watching giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and more! And let’s face it… that’s pretty sweet!

You’ve likely noticed that we focused a LOT more on Animal Kingdom Lodge when it comes to theming. But it’s next to impossible to not be entirely WOWED by the incredibly immersive and unique feel of this special Resort. The Yacht Club is certainly lovely and has a wonderfully classic atmosphere; however, when it comes to theming there are just a select few Resorts that can go toe-to-toe with Animal Kingdom Lodge. And when it comes to room logistics, Animal Kingdom Lodge also presents more options thanks to the addition of Disney Vacation Club Villas. So this round is going to Animal Kingdom Lodge!

The Yacht Club has some serious bragging rights when it comes to  Stormalong Bay ! This 3-acre water recreation area is available  exclusively to both Yacht and Beach Club guests.

yacht club to animal kingdom

Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club

Seriously, Stormalong Bay is a destination all its own. This  pool complex is practically its own mini-water park , with sand at the bottom, a lazy river, 3 whirlpool spas, and a tanning deck!

yacht club to animal kingdom

Lazy River at Stormalong Bay

Kiddos (and adults) can take on the 230-footlong  ‘shipwrecked’ themed water slide , while Shipwreck pool with its own mini waterslide is available just for the little ones.

yacht club to animal kingdom

Stormalong Bay Water Slide

Oh, and guests who prefer a little more quiet can take advantage of any of the  3 additional leisure pools.

Guests can enjoy the spacious  Uzima Pool  (complete with a waterslide) at the Jambo House and the  Samawati Springs Pool  at Kidani Village. Each are accompanied by two whirlpool spas.

yacht club to animal kingdom

Uzima Springs is lovely, and, even though it is obviously a popular spot as the Resort’s main pool, it still somehow manages to feel like a relaxing oasis, due to aspects like the zero-entry wade-in and the lush greenery surrounding the area. It’s also incredibly roomy at 11,000 square feet.

Samawati Springs Pool also offers a fun waterslide. But the big boast here is  Uwanja Camp , which is an  “animal observation site-themed water playground”  featuring three zones complete with a rope bridge and water cannons!

yacht club to animal kingdom

Samawati Springs Pool

And guess what? Disney shares that this camp is made for “kids of all ages” (though do note that select areas are designated for specific ages)!

I do love a nice lounge by a relaxing pool like Uzima or Samawati Springs at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I mean, who doesn’t? But there is simply nothing like Stormalong Bay at any other Disney World hotel, so we’re giving this round to the Yacht Club !

Luckily, the  Maji Pool Bar  at Kidani Village in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge serves other liquids as well: cocktails (served frozen and on the rocks), wine, and draft beer, including Safari Amber.

We chat about  the BEST Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants HERE .

I would love to hand you a clear winner here. But alas… no can do! Great options abound at both Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Yacht Club (though Yacht Club earns its place with thanks in no small part to its easy access to TWO more Deluxe Resort hotels and all of their dining options). So here it’s best to consider what YOU want the most from your dining options . Lots of variety? The Yacht Club is likely your better bet. Restaurants featuring unique flavors and dishes that you won’t find elsewhere? You might prefer Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Transportation

Like all Disney World Resort guests, Yacht Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge guests have access to free Disney World Resort transportation .

A  very rare perk is that, from the Yacht Club, guests have a short walk to get to EPCOT’s International Gateway  (between the park’s United Kingdom and France pavilions). Folks can also  walk to the connected Beach Club Resort, to the  Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels , and to all of the dining and shopping along  Disney’s BoardWalk .

yacht club to animal kingdom

Directions to Resorts and International Gateway

Yacht Club guests can also  walk along Crescent Lake to Disney’s Hollywood Studios ; however, due to the longer distance to Hollywood Studios, other forms of transportation to Hollywood Studios are provided. For instance, you can take a  Friendship Boat  down Crescent Lake to   Disney’s Hollywood Studios !

yacht club to animal kingdom

Yacht Club Marina

The Friendship Boat also makes stops at EPCOT, BoardWalk Inn, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels.

The International Gateway also hosts EPCOT’S  Disney Skyliner  Station. From EPCOT, the Skyliner has a stop at  Disney’s Riviera Resort  and continues  directly to  Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort  (which serves as the Skyliner Hub). From Caribbean Beach, it’s a simple  transfer to  Disney’s Hollywood Studios   (or to  Disney’s Pop Century  and  Art of Animation Resorts ).

And, of course, there is complimentary access to  Disney Bus Transportation  to and from Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom ,  the water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon), and  Disney Springs .

Guests staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge have complimentary access to  Disney Bus Transportation  to and from all  four theme parks ( Magic Kingdom ,  EPCOT ,  Disney’s Hollywood Studios , and  Disney’s Animal Kingdom ), water parks, and  Disney Springs .

Animal Kingdom Loge Bus Stop

Aaaaand … that’s it. 😉 Though it is nice to know that the ride is very quick to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to aim for that first ride on  Avatar — Flight of Passage (and since Animal Kingdom typically opens — though it should be said, also closes — earlier than the other parks, that sure doesn’t hurt in the morning)! The flip side of that coin, however, is that Animal Kingdom Lodge is also that much farther away from the other three theme parks.

This one’s easy-peasy! We’re giving it the Yacht Club.

The Winner!

“Aaaand the winner is”. .. whichever Resort YOU think it is for your group’s needs and desires. Since Yacht Club vibes are very different from Animal Kingdom Lodge’s atmosphere, you may have one that already jumps right out at you. If not, you might find it most helpful to consider your group’s park touring M.O. above other factors. If you plan on making the theme parks the focus of your vacation, Yacht Club Resort might be your best bet due to better transportation and close proximity to TWO theme parks. If you’re planning on soaking up the setting at your Resort, you honestly can’t go wrong with either choice… but Animal Kingdom Lodge offers the more unique experience.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort VIP Top Tips

Yacht Club

While room requests are not guaranteed , at the Yacht Club ask to be closest to the lobby to limit the amount of walking needed to the pool area and transportation to the Theme Parks.

The Yacht Club has a beautiful wedding gazebo in its gardens. From the balconies of some of the Garden View and Water View rooms, you can overlook this area and glimpse a Disney wedding.

At Disney’s Yacht Club Resort , all rooms have a full balcony or patio.

Enjoy the close proximity to Epcot’s World Showcase . While there is a boat launch available at Epcot, you can get there faster by walking.

You can access Disney’s Hollywood Studios by boat. You may also enjoy a brisk walk around the BoardWalk down to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In general, you may find the boat ride shorter than walking to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

These resorts offer one of the best pools on Walt Disney World property. While separate, the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts share the pool area. There is a “shipwreck” that offers the entry point to the main water slide. Some areas of the pool have a sandy bottom.

These resort hotels are located near the BoardWalk, offering a short walk to additional restaurants and nightlife that do not require park admission.

Sometimes Disney’s bus transportation may share buses with the other resort hotels in the Epcot area around the BoardWalk. If you find yourself stopping at multiple stops, you may want to get off at the first stop and just walk the rest of the way. This is sometimes quicker than stopping at each resort hotel if the bus loop is being shared with multiple resorts.

We love the Yacht Club! We picked it the first time based on details - distance to the parks, reviews, etc - were not disappointed.

November 27, 2016

The Yacht Club's rooms are decorated in white with blue and brass accents. The most recent update also replaced carpeting with vinyl "hardwood" floors, freshening the rooms' look.

Dining isn't a strength at Yacht Club, but tons of options are short walk away at EPCOT or the four other resorts.

Ale & Compass Restaurant The cuisine is advertised as “New England comfort food.” Reader ratings have improved substantially over the years, without compromising the diversity of the menu.

Yachtsman Steakhouse Open for dinner only, Yachtsman Steakhouse serves up steak, seafood, and sides. This is a signature restaurant that tries to create an atmosphere, so expect high prices and to adhere to a minimal dress code.

Market at Ale and Compass A small spot carved out of the gift shop, the Market has coffee, pastries, and other small items.

Ale and Compass Lounge Ale & Compass is a competent restaurant, the kind of place you'll be happy to find at dinnertime if it's raining and you don't want to go outside; or everyone is starving and you need to eat right now. Ale and Compass is a better choice for breakfast. You'll find something for everyone in various combinations of eggs, potatoes, bacon, tofu, French toast, and so on, with a la carte options if you just want a quick bite.

Crew's Cup Lounge The Crew’s Cup Lounge is one of the better bars in Walt Disney World, although the reason for that statement is hard to explain. The entire room just feels...well, cool. It starts when you approach the door, which is found in the Yacht Club’s hallway, heading towards the Beach Club Resort. One of the things that makes Crew’s Cup cool is the understated sign hanging in the hall, a few steps up, as well as a plain door. The facade is easily overshadowed by the Yachtsman Steakhouse, but that secret, speakeasy style entry makes it a little hard to find, and we all know that the coolest places don’t need to advertise. Walking in you immediately notice the theme, which is rowing, but are not overwhelmed by it. There are a few images of rowers here and there and a few oars along the walls, but it is mostly just a quaint, slightly dark, overwhelmingly wood-paneled lounge. The rowing theme obviously fits in with the Yacht Club Resort and the Crew’s Cup looks as if it would be a place that a crew team would hang out after practice. While many Americans do not think of crew or rowing as major sports, it certainly has a long history in the United States. It began as soon as the English landed, having been popular there several centuries prior. Yale University boast the oldest American college crew club, started in 1843, and the Harvard versus Yale regatta is the oldest intercollegiate sport in the U.S. It is so old in fact (started in 1852), that it had to be paused during the American Civil War! The entire Crew’s Cup Lounge hints toward this history. The shell (or boat to you landlubbers) hanging from the ceiling is a common place for storage when there are no racks. The oars along the walls are each painted differently, which is how a team identifies itself (although these oars match no teams that we could find). Even just the exposed rafters and craftsman touches point toward a New England style around the year 1900. For those interested in what goes on in a kitchen, there is a window that looks into a section of the Yachtsman Steakhouse’s back of house. Often during dinner time you will see a prep chef getting ready for the mealtime rush. Once you decide to have a seat, there are a few different options, with seats at the bar, a handful of booths, a few tables and chairs, and also a few couches. Whether you are there for dinner, relaxation, or to watch the television, you will find a seat to match. Speaking of dinner, there is both food and drink aplenty, although the drink list is our one big knock on The Crew’s Cup as it follows the standard Disney drink menu. The food here is above average and consists of hearty appetizers, burgers, and chicken tenders. Nothing fancy, but good quality and decently priced (for Walt Disney World). The Crew’s Cup Lounge is not often mentioned as a favorite spot, and we will hope it stays that way because that just means more room for us. After all, if everyone knows it might stop being so cool.

Fittings & Farings Fittings & Farings is Yacht Club's souvenir shop. A small selection of snacks, drinks, and other groceries are available.

Refillable Mugs Allows guest self-service soft drink refills from quick-service locations in hotels ( NOT in theme parks ) for $21.99 for the length of stay.

Practical Matters

Check-in is 4:00pm Check-out is 11:00am

All Disney resorts participate in Disney’s Online Check-In program. If you’ve checked-in online and provided a mobile phone number or email address, you will receive your room number electronically. Then you can go straight to the room and use your smart phone or MagicBand to open the door, skipping the lobby altogether.

These rubber and plastic wrist bands can function as your room key, park admission, charge card, and more! MagicBands cost money, but if you'd like a free option you can use the official Disney World app on your phone or request an RFID-embedded card at the front desk.

Park tickets are best purchased online in advance either directly through Disney or via our Least Expensive Ticket Calculator . However, if you arrive without park tickets, head to the concierge desk in the hotel lobby.

Dining reservation are best made online in advance or on your phone or tablet during your visit. You can also use our Disney World Reservation Finder .

Washers and dryers are availabile in laundry facilities at each Disney World hotel. Cost is $3 per wash, and another $3 per dry cycle. A small selection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for around $1 each. Only credit/debit cards can be used for payment. For more information, see our Disney World Laundry Facilities page.

If you lose something in a theme park or during your stay at a Disney-operated hotel, visit Disney's Lost and Found website or call (407) 824-4245.

Disney hotels have gifts shops near their lobbies with a decent collection of Disney-branded souvenirs. You will also find basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Resort hotels with Deluxe Villa rooms offer an assortment of groceries, as well.

Disney recommends a third party company, Kid's Nite Out , to provide babysitting services at the resort hotels. See our Disney World Child Care page for more information.

The Yacht Club is located in the EPCOT Resort Area. All modern GPS apps, and Google Maps, will have clear driving directions to it. As a backup, look for Disney road signs directing you toward the EPCOT resorts (not EPCOT) once you're on property, and then look for signs for the Yacht Club once you're close.

Disney Skyliner gondola system has a station at EPCOT's International Gateway entrance. The ride to Hollywood Studios is about 12 minutes (plus waiting time in line).

Disney provides free bus service to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Springs from the bus stop at the front of the resort. Buses run about every 20 minutes. For all destinations except the Magic Kingdom, it's probably faster to drive or walk.

If you have your own car , it's faster to drive yourself to Disney's Animal Kingdom, the Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks, and Disney Springs. Disney's transportation system is faster to the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

EPCOT is a short walk from the Yacht Club, and the walk to Hollywood Studios is just a little longer.

Disney provides free boat service to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort.

You can walk between the Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin. Boat service is available to all of those, too, except the Swan Reserve. The Skyliner at EPCOT's International Gateway can take you to Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. For all other resort destinations, the fastest option is an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Disney's bus service is free but slow, and will probably require you to use an intermediate destination like Disney Springs, to get to your destination. And that can take a couple of hours each way if you're unluckly.

if you have a car, the easiest way to get to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and other tourist destinations is to drive. Alternatively, Mears Transportation operates shuttle services between the Disney hotels and other theme parks.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Walt Disney World Resorts Yacht Club Resort Main | Rooms | Dining | Recreation | Resort Map

Like Disney's Beach Club Resort , Disney's Yacht Club Resort has the distinct advantage of its close proximity to Epcot . A short ten-minute walk is all that it takes to get to the International Gateway entrance of the World Showcase at Epcot ®. For guests who arrive at this entrance prior to the World Showcase “official” opening time of 11:00 a.m., there will be Cast Members to escort guests to Future World. Buses and Friendship launches will take guests to other Walt Disney World® Resort destinations.

  • Magic Kingdom ® Park: Take the Magic Kingdom ® Park bus from the front of the resort. Bus service is shared by Disney's Beach Club Resort , and Disney's BoardWalk Resort as well. A leisurely, but more scenic alternative, is to walk through Epcot ® and take the Monorail to the Ticket & Transportation Center and switch to the Magic Kingdom ® Park Monorail from there.
  • Epcot ®: If it’s too hot to walk or if you simply want to conserve your energy, take the Friendship boat launch. But take note that the launch also stops at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin and Disney's BoardWalk Resort docks so the trip to Epcot ® could take up to 20 minutes.
  • Disney-MGM Studios : Take a separate Friendship launch. As with the Epcot ® launch, service is shared with the other Crescent Lake resorts. Once again, this trip can take up to 20 minutes.
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom ® Theme Park: Take the Disney's Animal Kingdom ® Theme Park bus. However, in addition to Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort guests, the bus also makes stops at Disney's Boardwalk Resort and the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin hotels.
  • Downtown Disney ® Marketplace, Downtown Disney ® West Side, Downtown Disney ® Pleasure Island: Take the Downtown Disney ® bus
  • Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park: Take the Downtown Disney ® bus
  • Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park: Take the Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park bus

For those wishing to go anywhere else on (or off) property, Bell Services can get a taxi for you. The bus stop at Disney's Yacht Club Resort is located to the left as you exit the lobby, on the other side of the porte cochere (valet loading and unloading area).

Disney transportation can seem very complicated and confusing, but we’re here to make it as easy as possible for you! There are many perks to the Disney transportation system, as, if you use it properly, you can get just about anywhere in the Walt Disney World Resort area for free.

The Disney World transportation network consists of a myriad of transportation options, including buses, monorails, boats, and more! While that can seem a bit overwhelming, the easiest way to look at it is to figure out how to get from point A to point B, simply by referring to our Disney transportation guide below.

Forms of Disney Transportation

Bus transportation at disney.

While the Disney bus is the least exciting form of transportation on the property, it is also the most expansive. There are buses that go from every Disney resort  to every theme park and waterpark, between theme parks, to Disney Springs, and even sometimes between resorts.

Because Disney resorts, parks, activities can be bustling from the early hours of the morning to the late hours of the night, the Disney bus schedule runs from 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. At peak hours of the day (which is typically just when the parks are open), Disney buses run every 20 minutes or so.

Monorail Transportation At Disney

The Walt Disney World Resort has three different monorail lines: the Resort line, the Epcot line, and the Express line. The monorails start running 30 minutes before the earliest park opens and stop running one hour after the last park closes. All three of these monorail lines converge at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), the hub of Disney World transportation. In other words, if you can access a monorail, you can get easily get to any monorail stop on any line.

The Resort monorail line stops at the TTC, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Magic Kingdom. If you want to skip all of the hotels, jump on the Express monorail line instead, as that line takes guests directly from the TTC to Magic Kingdom (and back). Lastly, the Epcot monorail line takes guests from the TTC to Epcot (and back), just as its name implies. If this seems a little confusing, having a Disney monorail map can help you visualize the routes a little bit better.

Skyliner Transportation At Disney

The newest form of Disney transportation is the Disney Skyliner. This whimsical gondola form of transportation also has three different lines: the Epcot line, the Hollywood Studios line, and the Disney’s Art of Animation Resort line. All of these three lines converge at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

The Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Skyliner line takes guests from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The Hollywood Studios Skyliner line then takes guests from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to Hollywood Studios. As an alternative, the Epcot Skyliner line takes guests from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney’s Riviera Resort and Epcot.

Boat Transportation At Disney

As if buses, monorails, and Skyliners weren’t enough, Disney Transportation also includes boats. There are several boat routes, all revolving around Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Epcot. Disney boat transportation typically starts running 30 minutes before the first park opens and closes one hour after the last park closes.

First up, there are the Magic Kingdom boats. There are ferryboats that take guests between Magic Kingdom and the TTC. From there, you can hop on a monorail or a bus to just about anywhere in the Walt Disney World Resort. In addition to these ferry boats, there are four different flag-oriented boat routes. The Seven Seas Lagoon Gold Flag boat takes guests between Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The Bay Lake Blue Flag boat transports riders between Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. For a straight shot route from Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds to Magic Kingdom, hop on the Green Flag boat. Lastly, for a clear-cut route between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Magic Kingdom, take the Red Flag boat.

end of yellow and blue Disney boat

Because Disney Springs is open from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., the boats that transport guests to, from, and around the area are open during the same hours. The Yellow Flag boat takes riders between Disney Springs, Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside, and Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter. The Blue Flag boat takes guests between Disney Springs and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. The Green Flag boat transports riders between Disney Springs and Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Lastly, the Red Flag boat transports guests within Disney Springs from the West Side dock to The Landing dock to the Marketplace dock.

Finally, there is a set of boats that takes guests in and around the Epcot area. First, there is a route that takes guests between Epcot, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort. There is also another nearly identical route that makes all of these same stops, as well as a stop at Hollywood Studios. Lastly, there are a couple of Disney boat transportation options within Epcot, including between the Germany and Mexico pavilions and between the Morocco and Canada Pavilions.

Minnie Van Service

Disney’s Minnie Van Service is one of the most unique Disney transportation options. It is essentially Lyft with a Disney twist. You’ll actually use the Lyft app to request a Minnie Van Service ride! There are a few differences between Lyft and the Minnie Van Service. First, instead of getting picked up in a regular old car, you’ll get picked up in a vehicle decked out just like Minnie: a red background and white polka dots. Another difference is that the Minnie Van Service costs quite a bit more than a normal Lyft. Lastly, unlike Lyft which can pick you up and drop you off practically anywhere, there are designated pick-up and drop-off locations for the Minnie Van Service.

Airport Transportation Services

Disney no longer offers free transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport (MCO), but there are lots of affordable and varied options to choose from. They make it easy to fly into the airport and get to your Disney Resort in a timely manner and without any stress.

Walt Disney World Transportation Map

Below you will find an extremely detailed Disney transportation map, including the routes for buses, monorails, Skyliner, water transportation, shuttles and more. This map of Disney transportation shows you exactly where each type of transportation goes and how many stops you’ll have to pause at before reading  your final destination. This is a really fantastic printable Disney map to have with you during your visit as it is highly helpful!

Transportation Between Disney Moderate Resorts And Disney Parks

Transportation Between Disney Resorts

The most straightforward way to go between Disney Resorts is by taking the easiest form of transportation from one resort to the closest theme park, and then taking another form of transportation from the theme park to the resort. As an alternative, you could always take an Uber, Lyft, or Minnie Van. While these aren’t free (as they aren’t provided by Disney), it’s much quicker than taking Disney transportation and should only cost you between $10 and $15.

I hope this Disney transportation guide helped to make all of the transportation options at Disney World a little bit more understandable. As always, I’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have!

Trip Report: Animal Kingdom Lodge Vs. Yacht Club

My family has always stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but in our recent trip, we gave the Yacht Club a chance! Here is what I learned: - There are so many incredible resorts at DW! We loved both! - YC has a truly incredible pool (I mean, it has a beach sand bottom!) with so many options and different things for kids of all ages to do. We loved the proximity to multiple Signature Restaurants and the Boardwalk. We liked that our transportation was varied (boats and buses). - There is nothing like the feeling you get walking into the lobby at the Jambo House at AKL. Every trip it is a truly magical moment that takes our breath away. We love the view of the animals from the balcony of our rooms. We feel like we are at a park even when we are just relaxing in our room. We love the fact that our favorite QS (Mara), 1 credit TS (Boma), and Signature (Jiko) are all in the resort. We love how big the pool at Jambo is, it never seems crowded. - As much as our children loved the pool at YC, we equally missed the theming at AKL. In the end our family decided we prefer AKL (it was a close vote)! We decided that while we loved the pool and location at YC, we felt like AKL truly transported us to another place and whisked us away from reality. While YC was a really nice resort, we have stayed in other resorts similar on other vacations. AKL is a resort we can't experience anywhere else. - The time is takes to get to the parks is not that different. We have read so much about how far away AKL is from the parks and how that is a disadvantage. We learned that is not necessarily the case. We probably waited longer at YC than at AKL. Because AKL has its own buses, we never seem to wait, while we waited for long periods at YC. Also, we found trouble with transportation at YC when trying to go to Epcot and HS for morning breakfast reservations. We had breakfast reservations before rope drop and in both instances we were informed we had to pay for a cab because the boats don't start running to HS and Epcot until 30 minutes before the park opens. AKL has buses running early that we didn't have to pay for. - I once read a quote that said "Whichever resort you stay at your first Disney trip will probably be your favorite resort." Maybe that holds true and the feeling of "home" at AKL is tied to the first memories of Magic my family experienced. - Disney is awesome. We loved both the YC and the AKL. Just depends what is most important to you...the theming and resort itself, or the pool. For us, that's what it came down to, the transportation factor and dining experiences were a wash (equally awesome). What is your favorite resort?

Great review, we are considering AKL for our next trip! We returned from Wilderness Lodge in November, we really loved it but feel we should give somewhere else a go. Did you find Jiko good for children?

Hopefully

Maybe that holds true and the feeling of "home" at AKL is tied to the first memories of Magic my family experienced. - Disney is awesome. We loved both the YC and the AKL. Just depends what is most important to you...the theming and resort itself, or the pool. For us, that's what it came down to, the transportation factor and dining experiences were a wash (equally awesome). What is your favorite resort? Click to expand...
Amelia :) said: Great review, we are considering AKL for our next trip! We returned from Wilderness Lodge in November, we really loved it but feel we should give somewhere else a go. Did you find Jiko good for children? Click to expand...
Hopefully said: I have never taken a boat from the YC/BC to Epcot. It is a pleasant, short walk for an early breakfast. Same hold true for HS first thing in the morning. Other than in the mid day heat of the day we walk to HS too. And we are mid 60's, so not spring chickens. Disney is awesome, I agree with you. The only resort I have stayed at that I didn't like was CBR. Just not for me. Thank You for the review. Click to expand...

I can totally see the walk to Epcot being beautiful, but for my family with the ages of my children, we were looking for something easy to get to the parks that early in the morning. We knew we'd walk enough at the parks! That is a great thing about Disney, every family has different needs and wants and there are so many options, there is usually a solution for all types! Earning My Ears

I'm in the same boat. Just saw to stay at AKL savannah view is not much more then my current res at the yacht club. It'll be me with my 2 dd's (14,10). Staying 4 nights doing each park at night once and rope droping hs/mk and ep one morning each. Really don't know if I should make the jump to AKL. Everyone says such great things. Opinions ???? Ps. This is our first luxury stay. Did Coronado a few time and Caribbean twice. Excited for our trip

akfan513 said: The time is takes to get to the parks is not that different. We have read so much about how far away AKL is from the parks and how that is a disadvantage. We learned that is not necessarily the case. We probably waited longer at YC than at AKL. Because AKL has its own buses, we never seem to wait, while we waited for long periods at YC Click to expand...
