The Krohn Conservatory is one of those magical places where it feels like summer all year long. It's just minutes from downtown and a beautiful oasis in Eden Park. These delightful gardens are open year-round, and the seasonal shows are especially magnificent. I love a colorful escape here during the cold months!

3. Carew Tower Observation Deck

You wouldn't think that the second-tallest building in Cincinnati would be a hidden gem, but the Carew Tower observation deck really is! Only The Brave Should Board The World’s Most Haunted Boat, Docked Right Here In Cincinnati

Fall is the season of pumpkins, apple cider, and hayrides, but it's also the time of year when the brave head to the many haunted houses throughout the city. We have some truly frightening ones in Cincinnati, but one is frequently named the scariest and may just be the most iconic. The USS Nightmare will soon open again in Newport and only the brave should board the world's most haunted boat that's docked right across the river from Cincinnati.

The USS Nightmare, which docks in Newport, has been a popular haunted attraction in the Cincinnati area for years. It's a tradition for many to brave the horror - and the lines - to visit this historic boat turned haunted destination.

The boat may seem innocent enough in the daylight, but it's actually more than just a haunted house. The William S. Mitchell was a dredge boat for 45 years and was led by a captain whose sanity was often questioned.

You can learn all about its history in the video below, but this boat met its demise close to when it was set to retire. Nicknamed the "Death Dredge," a massacre occurred when the boat broke free from its moorings, resulting in dozens of deaths and some very peculiar findings on board.

When you visit the boat today, you'll still find many peculiar things, including crew members who seem to have never left the boat. The USS Nightmare capitalizes on the boat's history by making very few changes to the structure and letting its deterioration be part of the creepy decor.

The USS Nightmare invites guests to come aboard seasonally, typically open mid-September through the first week of November. Be sure to check the site (linked below) for specific dates and times. They offer different ticket options, from a general ticket to a "RIP experience" that is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Once inside the ship, be prepared for two decks of ultimate fright. You get your money's worth with about 30 minutes of time spent inside, where you'll encounter horror-inspired scenes, elaborate characters, and deafening screams from others who are trapped inside with you.

The lines can definitely get long to get inside, especially at peak times on the weekends. If you don't want to wait as long, choose a Fast Pass ticket or even a Front of the Line option. They are more expensive but will get you to the haunted fun much faster.

The USS Nightmare has long been a favorite haunted attraction for brave Cincinnatians, but it has even more of a fear factor when you consider its history. Start preparing yourself now if you plan to visit, because this haunted boat in Cincinnati may just be the scariest in the world.
