Everything you need to know about boot Düsseldorf 2024

The anticipation is building as the world's largest yachts and water sports show, boot Düsseldorf , is set to make a triumphant return on 20-28 January 2024 at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany. Celebrating its 55th edition, the event is poised to surpass its pre-pandemic success, with a spectacular showcase of yachts, cutting-edge technology and the latest trends in the marine world.

In 2023, boot Düsseldorf attracted almost 237,000 visitors from over 60 countries. This international appeal is mirrored in the participation of more than 1,500 exhibitors from 68 nations, converging on a vast 220,000 square metres across 16 exhibition halls. The diversity and scale of the event make it a must-attend for anyone passionate about yachting and water sports.

Powerboat pleasure

Hall 1 will play host to an impressive array of medium-sized powerboats from renowned brands like Bavaria, Bénéteau, Delphia, Elling, Linssen and Sealine. Excitingly, Brazilian manufacturer Schaefer will make its debut appearance, adding a new dimension to the powerboat showcase.

Superyacht luxury

Hall 6 will transform into a haven for luxury yachts, with vessels up to approximately 33 metres resembling floating villas. Attendees can expect to be captivated by brands like Absolute, Azimut, Bluegame, Cranchi, Fairline, Ferretti, Explorer, Pearl, Princess, Sirena, Sunseeker and Wally.

All things sailing

Halls 15 and 16 are dedicated to sailing, featuring manufacturers like Hanse Yachts, X Yachts, Bavaria, Bénéteau, Bente, Contest, Dufour, Elan, Grand Soleil, Gunboat, Hallberg Rassy, Jeanneau, Nautor Swan, Oyster, Saffier and Solaris. A new addition, the Multihull Village, introduces visitors to the world of comfortable multi-hull sailing and power catamarans.

Tenders and RIBs

Hall 3 will be the hub for tenders and outboards, featuring leading brands such as Bayliner, Boston Whaler, Honda, Karnic Powerboats, Mercury, Quicksilver, Sea Ray, Suzuki, Tohatsu and Yamaha. The new Sportfisher Center in the same hall promises to provide valuable insights into the world of fishing on the water. Hall 9, on the other hand, will be a paradise for RIB enthusiasts with a lineup of international manufacturers, including 3D Tender, Henshaw Inflatables, Italboats, Lomac, Nautica, Northstar, Pischel, Bootsbau, Tiger Marine, Wassersport-Center Stockmann, Whaly Boats, Williams Jet Tenders, and Z-Nautic Group’s Zodiac and Bombard.

Technical and environmental initiatives

Halls 10 and 11 will host the latest in engine technology, electrical systems, freshwater and black-water systems, heating and air-conditioning, boat building supplies, maintenance, security and deck equipment. The show will welcome a range of international technology suppliers and engine manufacturers, including Yanmar, Volvo Penta, Huracan Marine, Torqeedo, Kräutler, Dometic and Drinkwaard. The 'blue innovation dock' in Hall 10 will focus on sustainability in watersports, serving as a key networking platform for industry stakeholders.

Watersports adventure

Halls 14 and 17 cater to watersport enthusiasts, offering everything from superyacht water toys, kite surfing, foiling, SUPing and canoeing. There is even the opportunity to do a canoe tour on an indoor river against the backdrop of the Canadian wilderness. This area offers the perfect place to relax after strolling around the show.

Destination inspiration

Hall 13 invites visitors to explore tourist centres from Egypt, Croatia, Mallorca, the Bay of Lübeck and Turkey. This hall serves as a unique travel marketplace, with numerous tour operators, charter brokers, marinas and regional tourism experts offering inspiration for holiday or superyacht itineraries.

Lifestyle and leisure

Hall 11 is a shopper's paradise, offering not only technical accessories but also a range of stylish yachtwear and lifestyle products. The Water Pixel World returns with tips for underwater photography and filming, along with state-of-the-art equipment, and this area also houses the show’s impressive array of diving equipment.

“We have had very successful talks with the manufacturers over the summer months and feel great enthusiasm and anticipation for boot 2024,” says Wolfram Diener, president and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf. “In January, we will also be able to welcome back brands that took a break this year. In particular, we see very high international attendance from exhibitors. This means boot 2024 will reach the highest level, present wide and varied ranges for both water sports and destinations and will again position itself as the world-leading show for this industry.”

Boot Dusseldorf boat show

Celebrating its 55th anniversary this year, the hugely popular “Boot” officially kicks off the 2024 international boat show season. More than 1,500 exhibitors from over 60 countries will fill the 16 halls at the Düsseldorf “messe” exhibition center on the banks of the Rhine river.

As much a nautical lifestyle event as a boat show, there are halls dedicated to everything from underwater photography to exploring far-flung cruising destinations. Two full buildings cater just to watersport enthusiasts—there’s even an artificial river for trying out the latest canoes and kayaks.

But the launches from global boat builders remain the show’s main draw. Though the new boats are smaller than launches at in-water shows in Cannes, Monaco, and Fort Lauderdale, there is no shortage of innovation and modern design.

Here are 10 newcomers that bode well for boating in 2024.

dusseldorf sailboat show

German builder Mayla is using Düsseldorf to unveil its brand-new, 44-foot Mayla GT. The angular vessel pays homage to those Miami Vice-style go-fast boats of the ’80s but with a futuristic topside. Powered by twin 650 hp Corvette gas V8s supplied by Ilmor Marine, with optional V8s up to 1,500 hp, this needle-nosed, all-carbon-fiber rocket ship is designed to hit a top speed of 110 mph. The slingshot performance is due to its low weight of 4.5 tons and the deep-V hull design that incorporates transverse deflectors from Sweden’s Petestep. The end result is a go-fast boat that would make even Sonny Crockett hold on for dear life.

wallypower50

dusseldorf sailboat show

Choices, choices. That seems to be the thinking at Ferretti-owned Wally Yachts these days. Want something a little bigger and less dayboat-like than a wallytender48, but not as voluminous as a wallypower58? How about the latest wallypower50 making its debut at Boot 2024? Wally gave a sneak peak of this new 50-foot weekender at last year’s Cannes boat show but will unveil the production version at Düsseldorf. Or make that versions with an “s,” since the 50 will be offered with either twin Volvo IPS650s inboard diesels (for a 41.4-knot top speed), or quad 400 hp Mercury V10 outboards for a 55.2 mph max. Not fast enough? There’s also the option of four Mercury 500 Racing outboards for 60-plus mph velocities.

Invictus TT420 Outboard

dusseldorf sailboat show

A year ago, bespoke Italian builder Invictus Yachts used Boot to unwrap its bold, new, ax-bowed 42-foot day cruiser, the TT420. It came with twin Volvo Penta D6 diesels packing 440 hp apiece and delivering a sporty 41 mph top speed. Invictus is heading back to Boot this month to unveil a 1,000 hp outboard version called the TT420S with power from a trio of 350 hp Yamaha 350s. While the new 420S gives up a chunk of its swim platform at the stern to accommodate the three Yamahas, it gains a huge storage lazarette that was previously home to the Volvo inboards. In fact, there’s space to swallow a seven-foot RIB tender, plus a small armada of water toys. The rest of the Christian Grande–designed fast cruiser, with its trademark wave-shaped hardtop, keeps the same visual drama.

Fairline Targa 40

dusseldorf sailboat show

Britain’s Fairline Yachts is using Boot Düsseldorf to pull the wraps off a new addition to its Targa sports cruiser range. The all-new Targa 40 is the spiritual successor to the builder’s iconic Targa 38—over 300 boats were built between 2006 and 2016—and will slip into Fairline’s Targa range beneath its 45- and 50-foot models. Fairline’s lead designer Christian Gott has done a stellar job of making this new bluff-bowed 40 feel almost as roomy as its bigger brother. Key new features include a fold-down cockpit balcony, an integrated tender garage, and an oversize master cabin in the bow with 6’6” of headroom. The Volvo D6 340 diesels are standard power, producing a top end of 36.8 mph, while the larger 380s should deliver a max speed of 41.4 mph.

Saxdor 400 GTC

dusseldorf sailboat show

Open or closed: Take your pick. Back at September’s Cannes boat show, Finland’s Saxdor Yachts unveiled its innovative, new 40-foot 400 GTO flagship. One of many unusual features included a stretched hardtop with the cockpit that opens to the elements on three sides. Now at Boot 2024, the builder is following up with a 400 GTC version that comes with an enclosed, hence more family-friendly, pilothouse for all-weather cruising. Saxdor is waiting until the show to reveal how the expansive glass side panels open to allow access to the 400’s twin, fold-down bulwarks. But we expect some kind of top-hinged arrangement with hydraulic struts supporting the glass. As with the GTO, power comes from a pair of 300, 350, or 400 hp Mercury V10s.

Omikron OT-60

dusseldorf sailboat show

It may look like a sleek, modern sailboat with its mast and rigging lopped off, but this innovative new 60-footer from Greek builder Omikron might just be the future of fuel-sipping trawler-style cruising. Penned by Milan-based sailboat designer Lorenzo Argento, the new OT-60 is being shown at Boot following a “soft” preview in Venice last summer. Described by Omikron as a motoryacht that “feels like a sailboat,” the focus here is on smooth, quiet, economical, island-hopping-style cruising. Powered by a pair of 150 hp Yanmar diesels (250s are also available), the yacht will cruise at 9.2 mph for over 1,000 nautical miles on a single tank, burning just over a .33 gallons per mile. Below decks, the OT-60’s 20-foot beam means cavernous accommodations, while its two foot, eight inch draft will take it into the shallowest of anchorages.

Steeler 50S Trans-Atlantic

dusseldorf sailboat show

Dutch builder Steeler Yachts is using Boot 2024 to unveil its brand-new 50-foot 50S TA, with the TA part standing for Trans-Atlantic. As the name suggests, this rugged steel and aluminum long-distance cruiser has been designed for an adventurous German couple to make the 2,100-nautical mile run from the Cape Verde Islands all the way to Barbados in the Caribbean. The yacht has a 1,320-gallon fuel capacity, plus a Wingit-Kite system on the foredeck that uses wind assistance to help drag the Steeler along. Interestingly, the couple has opted not to use fuel-sipping, low-horsepower engines in favor of a pair of 600 hp Volvo D8 turbodiesels. To counter any gnarly Atlantic swells, the 50S comes with Magnus retractable rotor stabilizers.

Moody Decksaloon 48

dusseldorf sailboat show

British sailboat builder Moody Yachts—part of the burgeoning German Hanse Group—is introducing a new word into the boat-building lexicon with the debut of its brand-new Decksaloon 48: Monomaran. It’s when you incorporate the interior space and volume of a twin-hulled catamaran into a single monohull. Of course, it’s a slight exaggeration considering the new 48’s beam is just 15 feet, 11 inches, while a similar-sized cat’s width would typically be twice that. More likely Moody is using the term to describe the way the 48’s rear cockpit, galley, and salon are on one level, unlike most monohull sailboats. Penned by British yacht designer Bill Dixon, this striking newcomer is distinguished by its towering, big-windowed pilothouse and deep, protected cockpit beneath the oversize hardtop. With over 1,400 square feet of sail, wing keel, and twin helms, its sailing performance should be as exciting as its looks.

Galvani Ventisei-e

dusseldorf sailboat show

The latest in the rapidly expanding list of whisper-quiet, zero-emission electric day boat offerings will make its global debut from Holland’s Galvani Boats. At Boot ’24, the fledgling builder will unveil its all-new, all-electric Ventisei, which is Italian for 26, reflecting the boat’s length. Modeled after Holland’s iconic “sloepen” open dayboats, the Galvani will be offered in two versions: the Ventisei-e with a 10kW electric motor juiced by a 30kWh battery, giving up to 15 hours of slow-speed cruising. Or the Ventisei-eHS (High Speed) with a 100kW motor, 64kWh battery pack for a 23 mph top speed. Dutch designer Bernd Weel penned the boat’s classic lines, while Bellmarine, also Dutch-based, created the electric power train. The first production boats are due this summer.

Windy 29 Hurácan

dusseldorf sailboat show

Norway’s Windy Boats is going back to the future with its retro-style, go-fast 29 Hurácan. You can only imagine the fun that Norwegian superyacht designer Espen Øino had in creating the shape of this classic-style open weekender—his typical day job is shaping massive German megayachts. The design of this low-slung, built-in-Poland, 29-footer is all sharp angles, prominent hull chines, flat foredeck and classic three-piece windshield. The only nod to modernity is the more upright section that Øino added to the bow. The simple cockpit arrangement sees twin helm seats, an L-shaped sofa, and a sun pad on the stern. Power comes from a wide choice of Volvo or Yanmar diesels, or even an old-school Volvo 430 hp gas V-8 sterndrive.

Boot Düsseldorf returns next week with an array of new boat launches. Here’s our pick of the best models to track down at Europe’s biggest boat show…

If you genuinely want to compare a lot of boats back-to-back then no other show makes it more convenient than Boot Düsseldorf. It’s one of the biggest indoor boat shows in the world (if not  the  biggest) and it has everything from kayaks to superyachts.

The nine-day exhibition is expected to be busier than ever this year, with almost 4,000 exhibitors already confirmed to show their wares at the Messe Düsseldorf showground.

There is far too much to see in one day, we’d recommend spending at least two days there (with a mandatory night out in between to enjoy the delights of the altstadt).

So without further ado, here are our top motorboat picks from the Boot Düsseldorf 2024 line-up:

Brig Navigator 24

Launched at the  2023 Southampton Boat Show , the Brig Navigator 24 is part of a wider overhaul of the brand’s Navigator range, and as such it will be joined by an all-new Brig Navigator 22 at the  Dusseldorf show .

These are the first new models to emerge from Brig’s Kharkiv facility since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022.

As the name suggests, the Brig Navigator 24 is 24ft long and features a  centre console  layout powered by either single or twin  outboard engines  up to a maximum of 250hp.

Replacing the outgoing Navigator 730, this versatile RIB is equally comfortable performing fishing,  watersports  or family cruising duties, with all the features and storage options you’d expect for each.

Dromeas 33 suv.

Since Olympic sailor, Efe Kuyumcu, founded Dromeas Yachts in 2017, his mission has been to build the toughest and most versatile high-performance offshore leisure boats in the world – and the new 33 SUV represents the next step in that campaign.

Built using vacuum-infusion, epoxy resins and carbon fibre reinforcements, this larger of the two wheelhouse models takes the same twin-stepped deep vee Adam Younger hull as the Walkaround variant but adds an enclosed pilothouse with twin side doors for year-round practicality.

Available with inboards or outboards, this 50-knot offshore platform also uses aggressive spray rails, thickset rubbing strakes and elevated forward gunwales for a safe, dry ride.

Given Dromeas’s model protocol, it’s reasonable to expect an SUV variant of the flagship 38 CC to land at some point in the future but for now, this easily customised and inherently flexible four-season platform looks like the standout boat in the fleet.

Fairline Targa 40

Fairline’s Targa 40 is a much more substantial boat than the previous best-selling Targa 38 – not just 3ft 6in longer but also 20% more voluminous, thanks to taller topsides and a wider beam that extends further towards an upright bow.

It looks like the extra space has been put to good use too. Fairline’s lead designer, Christian Gott, who will be in attendance on the Düsseldorf show stand, has created a versatile new cockpit layout and a lower deck with 6ft 6in of headroom, while maintaining (and arguably even upgrading) the sporty looks that were such a major part of the T38’s appeal.

While this sleek hardtop sportscruiser shares several features with the smaller F//Line 33 and the new Fairline Phantom 65, it also delivers a fair few tricks of its own.

Nerea NY24 Limo

Launched in Genoa and making its second public appearance in Düsseldorf, the new NY24 Limo from Italian yard, Nerea, takes the underpinnings of the NY24 Deluxe and GT models and strips away the covered foredeck to ramp up the open-air seating.

What you get in here is a big wraparound cockpit with easy three-tier boarding points at the transom and on both sides, as well as a bow dinette that can be converted into a sunbed to supplement the lounge seats aft.

It’s not as versatile as the weekender-style models but if you need a compact and manageable tender that looks a million dollars, make sure you check it out.

Omikron OT60

Omikron’s debut production model is apparently built for Mediterranean island hopping at “a peaceful pace with abundant space”. To that end, it uses an Eco-Cruise hull by Juan Kouyoumdjian, alongside carbon fibre in the construction of the superstructure for uprated stability at sea.

Equipped with a pair of Yanmar 4LV diesels, Omikron is quoting a fuel flow of just 1.25 litres per nautical mile for a very useful cruising range in the region of 750 miles, and there’s plenty of space on offer here too.

The internal saloon opens out into the cockpit, thanks to an array of doors and windows that virtually eradicates the aft bulkhead, and the cockpit features a pair of symmetrical L-shaped sofas with big views across an open transom.

Quarken 35 Cabin

Finnish yard, Quarken, is gearing up to launch its largest model yet. Known as the Quarken 35 Cabin, this Category B model looks likely to pick up where the Quarken 27 Cabin left off.

Like its smaller sibling, it features a near-plumb bow and an asymmetric wheelhouse to maximise internal space, while still leaving room for a deeper, wider side deck to starboard.

A forward-raked windscreen with slender mullions and plunging windows all-round should deliver good visibility from the helm, as well as plenty of natural light. A large overhead sunroof should help open things up even further and the provision of both an aft door and a sliding skipper’s door should make movement pretty easy too.

Equipped to carry ten people and sleep three, the established Quarken formula suggests that the new 35 Cabin will be joined by Open and T-top versions in the near future. But even as a standalone boat, it’s clear that this high-value weekender is going to be a strong contender.

Saxdor 400 GTC

Saxdor’s new 400 GTC is ostensibly a Saxador 400 GTO with less in the way of openness and more in the way of pilothouse protection.

Like the GTO variant, the wheelhouse encompasses the full-beam of the boat, maximising internal living space while providing easy movement fore and aft via a generous offset door in the windscreen. But unlike that boat, the GTC model replaces open space and canvas curtains with permanent glazing on both sides.

Direct access to the long fold-down side terraces is still perfectly achievable though, thanks to big sliding side doors, and the configurable aft deck can also join the party courtesy of the same aft door and hinged window as the GTO variant.

You get the luxury of an offset forward cabin and a separate bathroom, each with standing headroom of more than 6ft, plus the option of an additional double cabin beneath the cockpit further aft.

SAY Carbon 52

Performance brand SAY Carbon Yachts is launching its largest boat yet – a 52ft stunner with the performance to match its high-tech looks…

Weighing in at just 7.5 tonnes, thanks to an all-carbon-fibre hull and deck (around half the weight of a typical 50ft GRP craft), the SAY Carbon 52 will be powered by a relatively modest pair of petrol or diesel engines for a top speed of around 45 knots.

A hybrid electric waterjet drive is also an option, giving near silent displacement cruising at speeds of up to 8 knots. As well as its lightweight construction, the SAY Carbon 52 features a Petestep hull, which impressed us so much during our recent test drive of the X-Power 33.

This patented design uses specially shaped spray rails that fan out from the centreline, deflecting spray back under the hull and creating a high-pressure zone at the stern that is said to deliver a faster, smoother ride as well as increased fuel efficiency.

It will be powered by a pair of 430hp Volvo V8 petrol engines on sterndrives as standard, but 440hp D6 diesels are also on offer.

Sunseeker Ocean 182

This is the first chance for European showgoers to see the new tri-deck version of the original Ocean 90.

It’s called the 182 to reflect its gross tonnage rather than its length and foreground the fact that the wide-beam design and newly enclosed top deck deliver more than 2,000ft2 of interior space.

The standard arrangement is equally interesting. A stylish internal staircase leads to an upper deck, where a fully-covered forward area enables the helm to move upstairs, freeing up space on the main deck.

The upper deck’s central zone can be left open or specced as an enclosed sky lounge but in all cases, the lower helm’s absence creates room on the main deck for a bright dining area and galley forward, which in turn frees up the space further aft for a larger saloon.

The upper structure does reduce outdoor space, of course, but with a vast 24m2 split-level beach club, alongside four big cabins, 27-knot performance and a cruising range of 1,100 miles, it’s a tempting package.

sunseeker-predator-75-yacht-tour-video

Sunseeker Predator 75

This largest of Sunseeker’s “next generation” Predators looks superb, thanks to a Midnight Grey hull with jet-black detailing and a potent coupé-style silhouette. However, this boat is designed as much for parties as for performance and the deck layouts reflect that.

The cockpit provides a carbon- fibre table for up to six people, within easy reach of an electric barbecue, 80-litre fridge and icemaker.

There’s also an electric canopy back here, as well as dimmable lighting – and the foredeck also provides seating and a sunpad, plus zoned Sonos music and a pair of large drawer fridges.

In the standard layout, the lower deck features a forward VIP, a starboard double and a full-beam owner’s mid-cabin, plus a port galley with integrated Miele appliances, a wine cooler and a Quooker tap.

There’s also a neat breakfast bar and seating area in here – and at the aft end, there’s room for a two-berth crew cabin to port and a tender garage to starboard.

WallyPower 50

If you’re torn between the open-style thrills of the WallyTender line and the luxury of the WallyPower line, the WallyPower50 might be the most attractive model yet.

It certainly possesses the angular lines, fine stem and aggressive double-chine profile you would expect of a classic WallyPower model but you can also spec it with the same workmanlike wraparound fender as a WallyTender.

Like the  WallyTender 48  and the  WallyPower 58 , the new WallyPower 50 is available with either inboard or  outboard  propulsion. The standard model is fitted with twin Volvo Penta IPS-650 pod drives and user-friendly joystick control for berthing manoeuvres.

Windy 29 Huracán

Slotting neatly between the Windy 27 Solano and the Windy 32 Grand Zonda, the new Windy Huracán 29 is likely to be a major Düsseldorf attraction.

Designed by Espen Øino, with interiors in collaboration with Fareham-based Design Unlimited, it ticks all the classical Windy boxes with a step-free deep-vee hull, a choice of petrol or diesel inboard engines, a deep, wide cockpit and an aggressively raked foredeck.

The deck layout is also classical Windy. Encompassing the full beam, thanks to a step-through screen, the cockpit adopts an asymmetrical arrangement with a pair of helm seats backing onto a starboard dinette with a facing corner seat to port. Behind that, a sunpad adjoins the aft end of the dinette, with a sliding backrest for extra flexibility.

It’s a fine looking boat too, and production has reportedly already been pre-sold up to 2025.

Keep checking back with mby.com during the Boot Düsseldorf show as we will be sharing yacht tour videos of as many of the above debuts as possible.
